  2. Have you ever seen an elephant fly? For a limited time beginning in March, you will when you catch a special preview of scenes from Disney’s all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” in sneak peeks planned for Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and Disney Cruise Line. Check out this special message from two of the stars of the film, Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell. Guests sailing with Disney Cruise Line during the month of March will get to see the “Dumbo” sneak peek while aboard the ships. At Disneyland park, the preview of “Dumbo” will be presented at the Main Street Opera House in Town Square, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios will include this advance look at a portion of the film as part of the Walt Disney Presents attraction. From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns the beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets. Here’s a look at the latest trailer for Disney’s “Dumbo,” which flies into theaters on March 29, 2019. View the full article

  10. The star tandem of quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Julian Edelman just shouted “We’re going to Disney World!” into the cameras Sunday night moments after their New England Patriots clinched an NFL record-tying sixth Super Bowl championship in Atlanta. Brady and Edelman will soon be on their way to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida after becoming the latest NFL stars to utter those iconic words as part of Disney’s enduring national TV campaign following their team’s Super Bowl LIII victory. With less than 10 minutes left in the game, Brady engineered a five-play, 69-yard touchdown drive highlighted by a 29-yard strike to All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski that set up the game’s sole touchdown by rookie running back Sony Michel; the Patriots later added a field goal to win the Super Bowl, 13-3. Brady finished the game with 262 passing yards, while Edelman hauled in 10 catches for 141 yards. Both stars propelled their team to its third Super Bowl championship in the past five years. Once Brady and Edelman arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, they will be celebrated with a magical parade at Magic Kingdom Park on Monday, beginning at approximately 2:40 p.m. ET. Thousands of cheering Patriots fans are expected to line Main Street, U.S.A. for the festivities. The celebration will include popular Disney characters, festive music and lots of confetti, as well as Brady and Edelman having fun experiencing some signature attractions. So, if you happen to be at Walt Disney World Resort on Monday afternoon, please join us at Magic Kingdom for all of the pageantry and excitement as we celebrate the Patriots and their remarkable Super Bowl accomplishment. Come back to the Disney Parks Blog before the parade Monday to view our live stream of the festivities and be sure to check here later that day for photos and video of the parade. 14. We’ve all been there: It’s a screaming hot day at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, and our schedule for the day doesn’t get us out of the sun’s persistent rays for long stretches of time. We’re having a blast (of course!), but we’re about to melt. Enter: Shave Ice! Animal Kingdom Shave Ice This sweet and icy treat has been a seasonal part of the Animal Kingdom food scene for a couple of years, and it can now be found in the area of Harambe Market (not to be mistaken for Harambe Fruit Market closer to Kilimanjaro Safari). It shows up every once in a while — it’s not guaranteed to be there on your visit — and when it does, it’s usually a hot day, making Shave Ice very welcome! Animal Kingdom Shave Ice You have a few options for your Shave Ice. Flavor choices include watermelon, pina colada, and mango passion fruit. We went with the last on this visit and found it to be a delicious, tropical flavor! Animal Kingdom Shave Ice But if you’re looking for a little liquid fortification at the same time, you can spike your Shave ice with vodka or rum! We’re glad this option exists for those who want to imbibe, but the non-alcoholic version is awesome and large enough to share with the whole family! Animal Kingdom Shave Ice Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest impact, and when you need to cool off in Animal Kingdom, nothing works as quickly as Harambe Market’s big ol’ cup of shave ice! Dig in, Disney food friends! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun! The 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining is now available! 15. It’s February 3, 2019 – or 2/3/19 – which naturally makes me think of one of my favorite movies, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” In the film, 23-19 is the emergency code for any sort of human contaminate making its way into the monster world, resulting in immediate action by the C.D.A. (Child Detection Agency). Of course, ever since the monsters figured out that laughter is ten times more powerful than screams, they’ve been far more open to welcoming in us humans. At Walt Disney World Resort, there are two portals to the monster world. In Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, you can enter the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor for a live, interactive comedy show, and over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Walt Disney Presents attraction now includes the opportunity to step into Monsters, Inc. and meet James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski in person. So while it may be 2/3/19, no one is going to be crying “23-19!” anytime soon, because now more than ever it’s the perfect time to visit with Pixar pals like Mike and Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.” View the full article
  16. This week, Disney Parks Blog readers were among the first to see a new Disney Skyliner gondola on its cables as initial testing began at the Walt Disney World Resort. We shared a special look at the project. Scheduled to open this fall, Disney Skyliner will be a new, state-of-the-art gondola system that will conveniently connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the proposed Disney’s Riviera Resort, which is now accepting guest reservations for stays beginning December 2019. Several of the gondolas will be adorned with graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters. You can learn more in Jeremy’s original Disney Skyliner Gondola Testing story. “Mickey’s Mix Magic” is full of vibrant sights and upbeat sounds. The high-energy projection show creates a family-fun dance party throughout Disneyland park, with “DJ” Mickey spinning the new celebration song, “It’s a Good Time” along with remixes of favorite Disney songs. 17. Salt & Straw in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney has been capturing the imaginations and the taste buds of Disney guests on the west coast since the location opened in October 2018. Salt & Straw in Downtown Disney Anaheim We have to say: it lives up to the hype! Even when the ice cream they’re offering is packed with turkey! Yup: turkey (click here to read the turkey ice cream review ;-D)! Salt & Straw And for February Salt & Straw has released three new flavors: Eclipse’s Cardamom Rose Chocolate, Compartes’ Coffee and Love Nuts, and Nibble’s 85% Peruvian Chocolate Sorbet. We’re already in love. Salt & Straw’s February Menu Eclipse’s Cardamom Rose Chocolate is modeled after Eclipse’s cardamom rose petal-infused drinking chocolate. It has swirls of chocolate and rose ice cream with cardamom spice and cacao nib ice cream. Surprisingly, we found the rose really complemented the chocolate. Plus there are crunchy bits from the cacao nibs that give unexpected texture. So good. Eclipse’s Cardamom Rose Chocolate Ice Cream Compartes’ Coffee and Love Nuts uses a cold brew, hyper-fair-trade coffee with floral notes. The coffee is blended with Salt & Straw’s cream and Compartes’ love nuts, candy pecans, and crunchy chocolate. Compartes’ Coffee and Love Nuts Ice Cream The coffee blend is smooth, but the real stand outs are the nuts, which add a sweet crunch and chewiness to this otherwise smooth ice cream. Compartes’ Coffee and Love Nuts Nibble’s 85% Peruvian Chocolate Sorbet is simply delicious! This is a vegan base using Nibble’s chocolate, coconut cream, and fleur de sel. Vegans and non-vegans alike will eat this up! The coconut base for this sorbet is a definite stand out. Nible’s 85% Peruvian Chocolate Sorbet If you haven’t tried Salt & Straw yet, this is a good month to do so! These flavors are all delicious and creative, using top-notch ingredients (as always!). Of course, we could say that every month because Salt & Straw is really slaying the ice cream game month after month! Happy Valentine’s Day! Here you’ll find lighted cases full of awesome candies, chocolates, and sweets that are perfect for celebrating your loved ones (or your loved self!). And as part of the Valentine’s celebration at Disneyland Resort, they’ve taken a traditional Candy Palace treat — the peppermint or coconut patty — and given it a lovely twist!
