Red Rose Tavern, the now years-long Beauty and the Beast overlay of Pinocchio Village Haus in Disneyland’s Fantasyland, has offered many lovely rose desserts in the time since the restaurant opened in 2017. It all began with the Lemon Rose Cake in February of that year. Lemon Rose Cake And Halloween Time last year saw the addition of the Black Rose Dessert — a dark version of the thematic treat. Black Rose Dessert The purple passion trend brought a purple rose to them mix earlier this year. And now Red Rose Taverne offers a rose even the Beast would love: Cherry Mousse. Cherry Mousse Cherry Mousse is just in time for Valentine’s Day and its celebratory umbrella event Get Your Ears On. This dessert consists of a center of dark chocolate ganache on a base of chocolate crunch. The rose-shaped cherry mousse is coated in red velvet spray (!) and sprinkled with gold dust and mini heart sprinkles. And it is totally ready for its close-up! Cherry Mousse The structure of the Cherry Mousse is impressive, with the super thick chocolate ganache creating a dense center that also includes chocolate pearls. We found the red velvet spray imparted some flavor, and it’s certainly a fun way to add a lot of color. But the cherry mousse — while good — paled in comparison to the ganache. Cherry Mousse The Cherry Mousse is served cold, so this is not a lava cake situation. And happily this treat isn’t as overly sweet as many other Get Your Ears On offerings have been. We’re beginning the week with another exciting Disney Skyliner milestone – the first guest cabins to make test runs back-and-forth between Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios! As many of you know, our state-of-the-art gondola system will begin transporting guests at the Walt Disney World Resort beginning later this fall. The system will conveniently connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as well as the proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property, Disney’s Riviera Resort. The test-run gondolas recently traveled across Victory Way between the stations at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Walt Disney Imagineering associate project manager Steve Pratt told the Disney Parks Blog that soon there will be more gondolas added and cycling on the line as teams continue testing and training. As you can see in the image with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in the background, the gondolas remained covered during testing. But when operating later this fall, some cabins will feature beautiful graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters. If you ask the Disney Parks Moms Panelists how they feel about mobile food and beverage ordering at select guest service locations at Walt Disney World Resort, chances are they will quickly reply, “it’s a game changer,” and panelist Missy could not agree more! “Mobile ordering is great for anyone, but for families with kiddos, it’s a HUGE help. Gone are the days of having hungry kids wait in line and change their mind a million times about what they want. Now we can place our order on our own time and with just a simple click of the “I’m here” button, our food is ready in just moments,” she explains. “Mobile ordering makes dining at some locations at the Walt Disney World Resort easy peasy!” The mobile order service is offered via the My Disney Experience app at more than 20 quick-service locations throughout the four theme parks and Disney Springs area. With a few taps of the screen, guests can easily browse menus in advance and order ahead from wherever they happen to be. Upon their arrival at the restaurant location, they tap, “I’m here,” in the app and head to a designated pick-up window – enabling them to skip the line to order and pay. The app will also soon debut a new, enhanced look featuring an easier navigation and improved design, with fun, colorful icons and even more photos of the menu items. “With picky eaters, we would spend a lot of time browsing restaurants if we had to visit each location to see what was on the menu at that time” says Tabitha. “It is much easier to negotiate with a toddler when you are sitting down with your phone and taking a quick rest instead!” Kathy K. explains that mobile ordering is also a great benefit for Florida residents! “As Florida residents and Annual Passholders, we often find ourselves deciding to head to the parks without a dining reservation. Mobile ordering to the rescue! We can order and pay from our My Disney Experience app in the park, pick up our delicious meal, and get back to the fun. It’s a real timesaver!” And did you know you can also order select allergy-friendly options from the app? “Allergy-friendly options are generally organized into allergy-friendly categories,” explains Crystal, whose son has food allergies. She adds that you will also have the option to speak to a Chef or Cast Member to assist you with your order once you arrive at the restaurant. On top of the $55 steak, add a $14 Lapu-Lapu and a dessert selection (up to $9), and you’ve got a $78 value for your table service credit! Kona Cafe Desserts Kona Cafe also has the benefit of being in the Polynesian’s Great Ceremonial House, which is a beautiful place to explore. Plus, if you plan your meal for the late evening, you can venture out to the resort’s beach for a view of the Happily Ever After fireworks! Homecomin’ Homecomin’ has that magical combination of not only being a tremendous value on DDP but also being totally delicious. Order the Florida Grouper ($32), a moonshine cocktail ($12), and the famous Hummingbird Cake ($12) for a total of $66. Or get Art’s Famous Fried Chicken ($28) and still come out over $60. You really can’t go wrong with the menu here, plus the atmosphere is really relaxed and fun. Hummingbird Cake Frontera Cocina Another Disney Springs restaurant, Frontera Cocina has earned a reputation for stellar Mexican food and great cocktails. It also happens to be a great one-credit table service value. The Roasted Bone-In Beef Short Rib is a monetary whopper at $44! Add to that a $15 margarita and a $9 dessert, and you’re at $68! Roasted Bone In Beef Short Ribs If you’re interested in trying cuisine from Mexico done with careful thought, this is one of the best spots in Walt Disney World. Morimoto Asia Morimoto Asia has made our best values list since it first opened, and that’s with good reason. It’s an incredibly elegant restaurant space to begin with, plus the food is top-notch. Lunch is the only one-credit option here (dinner is a Signature meal), but the menus are nearly the same and packed with winning dishes. Spicy Stir Fried Jumbo Shrimp is $37. With a $16 cocktail and the $13 Churro Fondue, that’s a $65 meal! Morimoto Asia Churros This is another Disney Springs location that’s more than worth it’s weight in DDP credits! Sanaa This next recommendation should come as no surprise if you’re a DFB fan: Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Kidani Village. Sanaa is another restaurant that has the one-two punch of great food and great atmosphere. Windows look onto one of the resort’s savannas, and you might see zebra, cranes, giraffes, and other creatures during daylight hours. Savanna View But no matter what time of day you dine at Sanaa, excellent dishes like Braaivleis ($33), Berbere-Braised Lamb Shank ($31), and Potjie Inspired ($28 — with several vegan options!) plus one of our favorite desserts — the Spice Trade Candy Bar ($8) — and a cocktail (as much as $12.50) can cost diners over $50. Admittedly this is not one of the biggest empirical monetary values, but the overall experience at Sanaa more than makes up for the lower price point. (Plus $50 for one person isn’t anything to sneeze at!) Potjie Inspired with Butter Chicken and Chickpea Wit Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill One of the newest entries in the best one-credit DDP values is Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in Disney Springs. The novelty of trying a new restaurant is a great reason to use dining credits — particularly if the food is high quality and the cost is a good value. Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill fulfills all of those requirements! We loved our first visit here, particularly the chart-topping Mesquite Grilled NY Strip Steak Frites ($38)! With cocktails ringing up to $15 and desserts running $10, a meal here could run you over $60. A great monetary value in a super stylish restaurant with awesome food? Check, check, check! Mesquite Grilled NY Strip Steak Frites at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill Boatwright’s Dining Hall Boatwright’s is located at Port Orleans — Riverside, and this one-credit option is a total sleeper hit! OK, OK, I know not everyone loves it, but I’ve had consistently good meals here. Not only is Boatwright’s quieter and less busy than some of the more celebrated restaurants at Walt Disney World, it’s also just a convenient boat ride away from Disney Springs and features one of the best empirical monetary values for DDP in the World! Who knew?! The Big Easy is the biggest spender at $36, and we enjoyed General Fulton’s Prime Rib, which comes in at $35. Cocktails can run up to $12.75, with the delicious-sounding Chocolate Martini ringing in at $12. Order up one of the AWESOME desserts for $8 (BUTTER. CAKE.), and you’ve got a total cost of over $66! General Fulton’s Prime Rib Boatwright’s has the added advantage of being easier to get into with an ADR (and often without), making it a terrific alternative when the more popular restaurants are full. Storybook Dining at Artist Point Storybook Dining at Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a fabulous, elegant (for a character meal!) dining experience that allows guests not only to meet beloved characters from Snow White but also to enjoy truly awesome food. (See our full review here!) And it’s got the added bonus of being a good value on the Disney Dining Plan. Adult all-inclusive meals at Storybook Dining cost $55, and for that price, diners get a selection of starters, a choice of several (really good!) entrees, and a selection of desserts. Shared Appetizers for the Table And while $55 isn’t the biggest bang on our list, the opportunity to meet rare characters (Dopey! Grumpy! The Evil Queen!), the lovely setting, and the terrific food make Storybook Dining a wonderful use of a DDP credit! La Hacienda de San Angel Our final pick for the best one-credit table service dining options for maximizing your Disney Dining Plan dollars comes direct from World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot! La Hacienda de San Angel makes our list for few reasons. First, it’s a great bang for your buck, with Carne Asada ($34) and Pollo al Pastor ($27) complementing a Dragones Top Shelf Margarita ($21) (or the delicious Orange Mango Fire Margarita for $13.50!) and the Volcan de Chocolate ($10) for a total of $65! And the food here is great! Orange Mango Fire Margarita at Epcot’s La Hacienda de San Angel But the biggest draw for La Hacienda de San Angel might just be the view! If you time your meal just right, you can watch IllumiNations from the restaurant! If you get dinner and a spectacular nighttime show, you’ve really maxed your credits! Fireworks View at La Hacienda Various Character Meals And don’t forget: you can always use your Disney Dining Plan credits on character meals which can get expensive (especially if you want to do more than one in a trip!) and that also offer the priceless opportunity to fraternize with your favorite characters! This popular parade puts music in motion with Disney characters, performers and two new parade floats with eye-catching visuals and whimsical elements. Mickey starts the party in a larger-than-life opening as he and his drum corps kick off a lively, musical procession with Disney characters. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and you just knew the Donut Cart near Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Park was going to get in on the action. They’ve created two stylish donuts that are as delicious (and sweet!) as they are pretty. The Valentine Donut starts out simple enough with a basic yeast donut. But then… things get pink real fast. Valentine Donut Vanilla glaze is speckled with bright pink sugar sprinkles. Then there’s a swirl of frosting (much more on that in a sec!), and a white and pink heart-sharped marshmallow. The marshmallow is coated in white sugar, making it exactly like a certain treat you might peep in the grocery store. Valentine Donut Now back to that swirl of frosting. It’s strawberry cheesecake flavored, and it’s amazing. And not only is it on top of the donut, it’s also the filling in the donut. Eaten alone, the frosting is so good, and combined with the donut, it’s really rich and filling. Valentine Donut But there’s more! The Mickey Valentine Surprise Donut has a chocolate glaze and cute heart-shaped sprinkles. It’s topped with another sugar-coated marshmallow, this time red sugar on a pink marshmallow. Last month, we told you the large and exotic bird known as “Kevin,” from Disney•Pixar’s “Up!,” appeared to be migrating north from Paradise Falls in the direction of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As you can see from this exclusive footage, it looks like she’s been spotted on the park’s Discovery Island! Did you know that one out of five birds – over 2,000 species – migrate from one geographic location to another every year? According to our friends with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team, many of those birds pass through Walt Disney World Resort on their travels. Nearly one-third of the resort serves as an important corridor for many species, such as purple martins who spend their entire winter here and raise a family before returning home to Brazil.
