  1. Hello from Hollywood Studios! There’s a lot coming to this park between Star Wars: Galaxy Edge, a Lightning McQueen attraction, the first Mickey and Minnie focused attraction in Disney World, and the Skyliner Gondola system! See what we found in addition to all of these changes this week. Look who is back! The Celebrate Mickey Birthday Plush! Look who we spotted — Mickey is all decked out in his birthday best for this 90th Birthday Celebration Plush. We saw him over his birthday weekend in November, then he “disappeared”. Now we’ve spotted him back in stock in Hollywood Studios and Disney Springs! Welcome back Mickey! Disney Skyliner Station Construction Progress at Hollywood Studios Recently, Disney released more information on the Skyliner station — including new artwork for the gondolas! Each week we visit the station looks closer and closer to completion. Are you excited for this new transportation system? Hollywood Studios Skyliner Station Disney Vacation Club Sales Center at Tatooine Traders We monitored the construction of this Disney Vacation Club sales center on each of our visits to the park in the past few months. It opened last week, and this week we noticed the DVC sales center outside the Sci-Fi Dine-In closed. DVC Sales Center outside Sci-Fi Dine-In DVC Sales Center outside Tatooine Traders What’s New in Hollywood Studios’ Shops and Stores — New Merchandise! We first saw the reusable bags show up in Disney Springs’ World of Disney when it re-opened after a refurbishment. Now, we are seeing park-specific bags pop up around Disney World and Disneyland. Hollywood Studios Reusable Bag Hollywood Studios Reusable Bag The bags have been introduced as part of Disney’s conservation efforts and commitment to the environment as they reduce plastic bags, single-use straws, and more in the parks. Reusable Shopping Bag Prices Even though Christmas is 11 months away, Disney is already introducing new Christmas ornaments! We found this set of “it’s a small world” ornaments — and it is a must-have for all fans of the ride! “it’s a small world” ornament set The set is made up of five ornaments of some of the classic and favorite elements of the ride — the Hello flower, a couple of the dolls, and that very floral hippo! “it’s a small world” ornament set “it’s a small world” ornament set The set is $34.99. 4. “Pitchers and catchers report.” For baseball fans in the frigid North, it’s a phrase that signals a rising sun at the end of a long, dark, wintery tunnel. For Walt Disney World guests, it signals the return of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for another season of Spring Training. And for Disney Vacation Club Members, this year’s turn of the phrase marks the arrival of another special discount as part of Membership Magic. Home of the Braves since 1997, the state-of-the-art sports complex at Walt Disney World Resort will host is final season of Braves action this spring, allowing fans to “catch the magic” one last time before the team moves to its new Spring Training facility in Sarasota County, Fla., in 2020. Eligible Disney Vacation Club Members save $5 on Upper Level, Bleacher and Third Base Lawn seats at select 2019 Atlanta Braves Spring Training home games by visiting the DVC Member Ticketmaster page and using code DVCBRAVES. 7. We’re back with another churro review from Disneyland Park and its on-going Get Your Ears On and Valentine’s Day celebration! The Burning Love Valentine’s Churro is available at churro carts near Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. Burning Love Valentine’s Churro This is a Sweet and Spicy Red Sugar Churro with Double The Love Cream Cheese Frosting. To us, it tasted like the churro is coated in powdered Hot Tamales, so if you’re a fan of those, you’ll want to try this. Burning Love Valentine’s Churro The cream cheese frosting dip is usually a big hit for us, but this one is mixed with rum (per the cast member we spoke with!), and it just didn’t work as well. Burning Love Valentine’s Churro Still photogenic, though! And we can see how the dip and churro provide a pleasant contrast in flavors (and colors!). Burning Love Valentine’s Churro If you love hot cinnamon candies and/or sweets that are infused with rum, this is worth the try! But for us, we just weren’t that into it. See ALL Our Reviews in One Place! Head over to our Get Your Ears On Disneyland Food Reviews page for all the goodness! We previewed ALL the amazing Get Your Ears On treats at Disneyland! 9. On Jan. 26, more than 300 volunteers from the Disneyland Resort, city of Anaheim, Anaheim Family YMCA and the community joined KaBOOM! to build a playground with accessible play features for children with disabilities in just six hours at Barton Park in Anaheim, California. The new playground is the 11th Disney-sponsored KaBOOM! playground in Anaheim, and Anaheim’s first ramped playground for children with disabilities. The new playspace includes unique equipment and accessibility features that allow children to play together regardless of ability, including a merry-go-round style device called a Unity Spinner with seatbelts for wheelchairs. Other accessible features include accessible swings and a new-age teeter-totter called a Teeter Tunnel that includes a feature to help children transfer out of a wheelchair and onto the teeter. Numerous features also were included for visually impaired children such as braille panels. The idea of adding accessible play features to this playground came from Disneyland Resort cast members in the CastABLE diversity resource group. CastABLE is one of several diversity resource groups at the Disneyland Resort that makes sure the experiences that Disneyland Resort provides are inclusive and relevant. “This event is a great example of why all of us at the Disneyland Resort are so proud to call Anaheim home,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of the Disneyland Resort. “The collaboration between nonprofit organizations, the city of Anaheim, the Disneyland Resort and local residents is truly inspiring.” Watch the special playground come together in this video! 10. The NFL Pro Bowl Week at Walt Disney World Resort last week was a rare opportunity for fans to interact with their favorite players, take part in some football-related interactive experiences and just generally live out their football dreams. But fans weren’t the only ones having fun. When they weren’t training, many of the players took advantage of being at the most magical place on earth, especially New York Giants star Saquon Barkley and Denver Broncos star Phillip Lindsay. The two young rookies spent some time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, experiencing several attractions, munching on some signature dishes and just having the time of their lives. 15. Starbucks is known for its coffee, pastries, and collectible mugs. But now the mermaid-emblazoned coffee shop at Disneyland has something that’s just right for those cold beverages: the new All Parks Tumbler featuring — what else? — park icons from both Disney World and Disneyland parks! Starbucks’ All Parks Tumbler Yes, please! We love the bright green plastic (reusable) straw and the size of the tumbler, which appears narrow enough at the base to fit into cup holders but tall enough to hold a sizable drink. All told, it’ll hold 24 oz. — a venti iced beverage. Starbucks’ All Parks Tumbler Park icons are colorful and artsy, reminiscent of sketches. There are only five pictures here, so the castle taking center stage is kind of a mix between Sleeping Beauty Castle and Cinderella Castle. Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror, the Tree of Life, and Carthay Circle Theater surround it. Starbucks’ All Parks Tumbler We love the playful images, and it’s a cup we can actually use year-round… while we daydream about being back in front of those icons for real! Starbucks’ All Parks Tumbler The tumbler debuted at Disneyland, but we expect to see it at Walt Disney World locations soon! Make room on the shelf next to your You Are Here mugs, people! 17. Aloha from Kona Café in Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort! Kona Cafe Kona Café is about as classic as it gets. Though ‘Ohana grabs more of the headlines when it comes to dining in the Polynesian, Kona Café has been its own beloved spot with fans all its own for many years. Kona Cafe We’re visiting today to explore some recent changes to the menu and to taste what’s new on the menu! Before we dig in, though, the meal — as always — starts with fresh soft rolls served with that completely addictive sweet macadamia butter. Rolls and Sweet Macadamia Butter Okay, NOW let’s take a look at the menu. Our visit was for lunch, which all falls under the category of All Day Offerings. (Just click on any of the menu images to enlarge.) All Day Offerings Menu Though it was not our mealtime, the Dinner menu, naturally has seen changes, too, including the addition of a Perfect Porterhouse Steak featuring an 8 oz tenderloin and a 14 oz New York Steak entrée for $95.00. Much like a more traditional steakhouse, sauces and sides are also available for an additional cost. Dinner Offerings Menu A highlight here for many guests is the Sushi menu including Specialty Rolls in addition to your regular Dragon and California. (This is available during both lunch and dinner.) Sushi Menu First up, appetizers! We went with the Fire-Roasted Pork Wings. Fire-Roasted Pork Wings These are wrapped in honey bacon, and served with pickled rainbow carrots. From a flavor perspective, the dish comes together wonderfully. Fire-Roasted Pork Wings The bacon has a nice candied quality from the honey glaze, and the pork was well prepared. Fire-Roasted Pork Wings We did feel, though, that with only three “wings” it was small for the $12.00 price. The new Polly Lolly Roll from among the Specialty Sushi Rolls is striking in its presentation and generous in its portion. Polly Lolly Roll This stunning dish features fried soft shelled crab, shrimp tempura and crawfish tails plated with grilled asparagus, chives, a spicy mayo, and garnished with more than a sprinkle tobiko (fish eggs). Seriously, it’s HUGE. Even better, it is really good. Polly Lolly Roll The shrimp tempura, in particular, was completely on point; in fact, the overall variety of textures was great. And the spicy mayo is an terrific addition to the whole thing, offering a fun kick. Polly Lolly Roll Polly Lolly Roll As for entrees, we went some seriously substantial sandwiches starting with the Crispy Cheddar Burger served with fries. Crispy Cheddar Burger The menu says this burger is “smothered” in crispy cheddar… and it’s NOT KIDDING. Yep — that’s all crispy cheddar! Amazing! Crispy Cheddar Burger It’s further topped with maple bacon, roasted tomato, and braised onions. Crispy Cheddar Burger The presentation is pretty great. Unfortunately, the sandwich itself didn’t live up. The patty itself was way too small to hold up to all the cheese and bacon. And it was also overcooked, to boot (our order was medium rare). Crispy Cheddar Burger Patty The burger patty basically tasted like your regular counter service patty with nothing special about it. Altogether, the dish doesn’t live up to the hype of its appearance. Things started looking up again with the Hawaiian-style Reuben which begins with the expected corned beef and it is — as anticipated — incredibly tender. The portion is, once again, impressive and easily could be sharable. Hawaiian-style Reuben The “Hawaiian-style” twist includes the addition of kalua pork to the meat along with kimchi, Havarti cheese, root veggies, and a mustard-tomato aioli. Both meats had terrific flavor. Hawaiian-style Reuben You can’t really tackle this as a regular sandwich, since the bottom piece of bread can’t really hold up the heaviness of the meats, but just grab a fork and dig in to enjoy (especially you kimchi fans out there, because it is awesome on this sandwich)! There is a definite change to the desserts as well. Servers now bring out a dessert tray you can peruse full of individual glass servings. Our server shared that, because the portions are so large for the meals, the desserts are smaller for guests who still have room for just a little something sweet. Presented Dessert Tray There is not an actual physical menu to show you, but each of the above options is $5.00. These include Tiramisu, S’mores, Tapioca Pudding, Bananas Foster, and Key Lime. (Sadly, there is no more Kona Kone at Kona Cafe.) Note that Dinner may include other options such as a Strawberry Champagne dessert. Of the three we tried, the Key Lime had a terrific burst of bright lime flavor that was really delicious. Key Lime Dessert But I actually would’ve preferred more of the graham cracker crumbs to deliver a little more of that traditional taste and texture of a key lime pie. Key Lime Dessert Still, it was tasty, and a very close second to the lovely Tiramisu which was rich in creamy texture and espresso flavor. Tiramisu Though it placed third among the three we tried, it’s still fair to say that the Tapioca Pudding was also yummy, complete with its fresh fruit toppings and a few popping pearls as a fun play along with the textured tapioca. Tapioca Pudding As we mentioned, Kona Cafe is a classic dining destination, with dishes that many guests — including us! — have grown to love over the years. From the previous menu, these include Sticky Wings and Asian Stir Fry, along with the Kona Kone for dessert. But as far as quality goes, our meal today was — Crispy Cheddar Burger notwithstanding — still very solid. Sushi fans, in particular, should still be pleased (seriously, try the Polly Lolly Roll!), but the regular All Day menu has some good dishes. And we do want to stress again that the new items we had are all part of the All Day menu. Whether or not the semi-steakhouse from the Dinner menu will fly? Time will tell on that one, and we’ll be curious to see where today’s Kona Café goes from here! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun! The 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining is now available! 21. What better way for Cierra Ramirez and Maia Mitchell to celebrate the premiere of their new Freeform show “Good Trouble” than a fun adventure at the Disneyland Resort? The girls were in town to experience the latest magic at The Happiest Place on Earth. Their first stop was at Disney California Adventure park, where they checked out the newly reimagined Pixar Pier. Cierra was adorned in the super cute Purple Potion Mickey Ears, while Maia chose to “rocks the dots!” The girls indulged their sweet side at the newly opened Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff. Maia and Cierra had an epic interaction with T’Challa, the King of Wakanda. Black Panther is one of the heroic encounters in Hollywood Land. What fierce pose will you strike when you meet this fearsome Super Hero? The ladies got into some good trouble of their own inside Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, then on the Incredicoaster along Pixar Pier. Afterwords, the duo headed to Disneyland park for a thrilling adventure into infinite darkness at Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. And finally, Maia and Cierra were “double the (good) trouble” as they posed for a fun photo in an oversized tea cup outside the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland. Be sure to watch “Good Trouble,” with all new episodes Tuesdays 8/7c on Freeform. View the full article

  23. Mickey and Minnie’s Get Your Ears On celebration at Disneyland is bringing all sorts of tasty and creative snacks to the park, and one such savory snack is the Jumbo Handcrafted Bavarian Pretzel found at Troubadour Tavern! Jumbo Handcrafted Bavarian Pretzel Oh man, I love this place. Out of the way and lightly “peopled” (unless the show is going on), Troubadour always has great savory eats to make into a snack or a full meal. This pretzel feels the mouse-y love with toppings in Mickey’s signature colors: red, yellow, and black! And the toppings are pretty creative! The yellow is nacho cheese (yum!), the red is crushed spicy onion chips, and the black is smoked black salt. Jumbo Handcrafted Bavarian Pretzel In case you can’t tell, this pretzel is absolutely massive! Like bigger than a full-size plate massive! So you’ll probably need to share this one. Jumbo Handcrafted Bavarian Pretzel Primarily the pretzel and nacho cheese flavors come through, the salt tastes like… salt, and the onion chips only add color and crunch. So while the toppings are distributed well and add a lot of visual interest, they don’t add a ton of flavor. Jumbo Handcrafted Bavarian Pretzel Still, if you’re looking for a high-quality pretzel and don’t mind a couple of added toppings, this is a terrific snack. At $10.99, it’s maybe a little high priced for one, but shared between 2-3 people, it could be a good value! So head over to Troubadour to kick back, relax, and nosh! 25. Ever wanted to guarantee the PERFECT day at Disney World? Your favorite foods, your favorite rides, a private car whisking you from park to park through backstage access? Your dreams are coming true… . A new V.I.P. Tour is now open for booking for Walt Disney World guests: the completely customizable World of Dreams Tour! Cinderella Castle Based on our discussion with Disney World VIP Tour cast members, the inclusions are like no other… in fact, the tour is so customizable that interested guests can work with planning partners beforehand to plan their “dream day” — accommodating a party of up to six guests — in Disney World. This could include experiences in any (or even more than one) of the four theme parks such as a pre-park opening photo shoot in Toy Story Land or even a tour of the Suite in Cinderella Castle. From attractions to dining in some of Disney World most popular restaurants (with meals and snacks included in the price), this tour can also potentially include hard-to-get access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens this fall in Disney World. ©Disney from @DisneyParks on Twitter And, yes — private, inter-park transportation is included! But what is the cost, you ask? $12,000 for the first day, and $10,000 for additional days. Plus tax. How does this differ from a regular VIP tour? While regular private VIP tours in Disney World can get verrrry pricey, they haven’t hit $1,000 per hour…yet. So you know this tour is going to go above and beyond what was previously the highest-end offering bookable by regular guests. The weird part? Park tickets aren’t included! Nope…so that’ll be $12,000 PLUS the cost of park tickets for you and your family or friends. So, whaddya think? Start your day with a pre-park opening photo shoot at Cinderella Castle followed by a few rides on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance? And that’s only the beginning… .
