  1. What’s that you say? There’s a double celebration today? Hip Hip Hooray for Mickey and Minnie’s birthday! And what a wonderful time our panel to send their best wishes for a magical mousetacular day and reminisce about special memories with the sweetest couple around! Panelist Jessica B. wishes Mickey and Minnie a happy birthday and reflects on what Mickey Mouse has meant to her throughout her life. “Mickey Mouse has taught me that all you need to get by is a great sense of humor and even better friends. No matter how old I am or what’s going on in my life, he is always waiting at Walt Disney World Resort to welcome my family home! Whether I was celebrating my 10th birthday or my honeymoon with my husband, Mickey has always been there to get the party started with us.” Making magical memories with Mickey and Minnie is what Kristin C. did as a child, and is grateful she has had the opportunity to continue the tradition with her little ones. “Mickey and Minnie Mouse have always been my favorite characters at the Disneyland Resort. There’s nothing more magical than a hug from Mickey or Minnie! As a toddler, I was terrified of them both, but once I got over my fear, I couldn’t get enough of those special hugs. What a full-circle moment when my own children overcame their fears and embraced their own hugs from Mickey and Minnie! That’s the magic of Mickey and Minnie … in a park filled with crowds of guests, they make each and every one of us feel welcome, loved, and oh-so-special.” No birthday is complete without tasty treats and here are a few of the ones you can find at Walt Disney World Resort: Epcot: Mickey’s Birthday Cake (available at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe) – vanilla cake with chocolate-hazelnut and strawberry mousse Disney’s Hollywood Studios Mickey Mouse’s Celebration Cake (available at Backlot Express) – Yellow cake, strawberry cream, strawberry marshmallow, and strawberry crispies Minnie Mouse’s Celebration Cake (available at Backlot Express) – Chocolate sponge cake, chocolate cream, vanilla marshmallow, and passion fruit crispies Disney Springs Mickey Ganache Lollipop with Mickey Mouse Décor (available at The Ganachery) Mickey & Minnie Chocolate Bar (available at The Ganachery) Panel Tip: The Mickey Birthday Sipper will also be returning to Magic Kingdom Park as well as Disneyland park at select quick-service locations. Know what else is a necessity to celebrate the special day in the parks? Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse sequin ears! So, from all of us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel to Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse … Happy Birthday! Thank you for all the cherished memories and chEARS to many more! 3. Family Volunteer Day is this Saturday, November 23 and Disney has a few great ways to celebrate! Points of Light Volunteers ©Gene Duncan We love whenever we see Disney doing a charity event or encouraging volunteer involvement within communities, and they tend to go big when they do! Most memorably, Disney World set a world record with a sculpture made of 115,527 canned goods to donate in 2010. Well, with Family Volunteer Day, a global day of community service, happening this weekend; there are a bunch of fun ways to pay it forward and celebrate volunteering in the Disney parks! Disney Springs in Disney World will be buzzing with celebrations! At 10:30 AM at the Marketplace Stage, you can join Mickey Mouse and friends and Disney exec, Bob Chapek, in celebrating the Disney and Points of Light Volunteer Family of the Year, the Aguirre family. The Aquirre family started a nonprofit called Emily’s Meals which provides food to 40 homeless people every day. Talk about community superstars! Points of Light Volunteer Family of the Year ©Disney After that, guests can head to Volunteer Village, set up just for Family Volunteer Day, to support local nonprofits. Between 11 AM and 2 PM, help build a Lego mural for Clean the World (a global hygiene nonprofit), write postcards for Operation Uplift, join the Disney Conservation Fund in a nature activity, and learn more about getting involved. Volunteer participants will even get special offers around Disney Springs! Disney Springs Family Volunteer Day is also a great day to pick up some toys and candy! That’s because Once Upon a Toy and Goofy’s Candy Company will donate $1 from every transaction to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. That’s probably THE best excuse to buy candy of all time. Key Lime and Sour Apple Cotton Candy at Goofy’s Candy Co. The celebrations are happening on the west coast too! At Disney California Adventure, guests can visit between 10 AM and 2 PM to make badges for Inside the Outdoors. Or, if you’re in Anaheim on Saturday, you can work with Disney VoluntEARS between 12 PM and 2 PM. Head to Farmers Park to pack comfort kits for Mercy House or head to Eucalyptus Park to pack kits for Chrysalis. Cast Members in both parks and beyond will be giving back too in celebration of the events! California Adventure If you can’t be in either park for Family Volunteer Day but still want to join in, then we have good news! Volunteer with your fam in your community and then post a pic with #VolunteerTogether (don’t forget to tag @DisneyParks)! Overall, the Family Volunteer Day festivities look like a fun time and a great way to learn about getting involved. Want to see more Disney Springs special events? Click here! 8. We’re proud to announce that AON Hewitt has honored Shanghai Disney Resort for the third consecutive year with the 2019 China Best Employer Award, recognizing Disney’s commitment as an employer of choice in China. As one of the most ambitious projects in the history of The Walt Disney Company, Shanghai Disney Resort has impressively won this award every year since its opening a little over three years ago! The AON Best Employers program has been one of the most credible and comprehensive surveys of its kind in Asia for nearly two decades. This prestigious honor showcases Shanghai Disney Resort as a leading human resources industry trailblazer and recognizes its success in providing unique cast member experiences, talent development, and inclusive and equal opportunities. Three cast members accompanied President and General Manager Joe Schott, Vice President, Human Resources – Cici Li, and Shanghai Disney Resort Ambassadors to accept the award. Around the globe, Disney is known for its exceptional guest service, but that wouldn’t be possible without our team of cast members in hundreds of different professional roles at Shanghai Disney Resort. From interacting with guests “onstage” to working on projects “backstage” – each cast member is dedicated to bringing Disney magic to guests each and everyday. To support our exceptional cast, Shanghai Disney Resort has implemented a variety of programs, such as the Employee Assistance Program which mentors young cast members in their personal and professional lives. The Be-Well initiative was also introduced to the resort, which helps cast build healthier lifestyles through expert lectures, group activities, tip sharing, and more. We are thrilled with the phenomenal success of Shanghai Disney Resort’s first few years, and we’re so excited for the future! View the full article
  9. Move over plastic refillable resort mugs! There’s a new kid in town! Disney World Refillable Mug Check out the newest refillable mug that’s just landed at Disney World! Yup — it’s a TOTALLY new design and MATERIAL making it one super-classy tumbler, indeed! Here it is, folks! The new Disney Skyliner Refillable Mug! Like its plastic counterpart, it’s insulated to keep hot things hot and cold things cold, but check out its sleek, stainless steel construction! And we love the retro-inspired Disney Skyliner graphic it features! Skyliner Refillable Mug We’d buy this thing just because it’s a cool-looking tumbler, but the fact that its also part of Disney World’s Refillable Mug Program is a HUGE bonus! Skyliner Refillable Mug The Skyliner Refillable Mug costs $10 more than the Plastic Refillable Mug (which just saw a price increase to $19.99 in October), but we can envision ourselves actually using this thing on the regular after a Disney trip! Skyliner Refillable Mug You can also purchase the Skyliner Refillable Mug for $29.99 in case you aren’t staying on Disney World property. Its sticker says it can keep drinks hot for up to 4 hours while cold drinks will stay cold for up to 12 hours! Skyliner Refillable Mug But note that the bottom of the new Skyliner Refillable Mug says the lid isn’t leak-proof, FYI! Skyliner Refillable Mug And since this new design doesn’t feature a handle like the plastic version, you might want to take that into consideration if you’re the “Refillable Mug Person-In-Charge” who’s responsible for shuttling your family’s mugs to and from the food court — it might be a little bit trickier juggling these bad boys! Skyliner Refillable Mug We saw the Skyliner Refillable Mug at Everything Pop Food Court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort this morning, but keep your eyes peeled for them at other Disney World resorts! What do you think of the new Skyliner Refillable Mug? Do you think it’s worth the extra cost? Let us know in the comments below! 21. This Saturday, Nov. 23, Disney parks and resorts around the world are joining together to celebrate Family Volunteer Day, and you’re invited to join us! Family Volunteer Day is a global day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and this year, Disney is celebrating in a big way! The fun will kick off at 10.30 a.m. ET at Walt Disney World Resort where guests can join a super celebration at the Disney Springs Marketplace stage. Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Bob Chapek, will be joined by Mickey Mouse and friends to celebrate the Aguirre family from Texas, who were recently named the first-ever Disney and Points of Light Volunteer Family of the Year, following a nationwide search and vote on ABC’s “Good Morning America”. After the celebration, guests can head over to a nearby “Volunteer Village” between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to take part in fun volunteer activities that support local nonprofits. Volunteers can help Clean the World, write postcards for Operation Uplift, and participate in a nature activity with the Disney Conservation Fund. Anyone who participates will be eligible to receive exclusive offers at select Disney Springs retail and dining locations valid that day*. Plus, in honor of Family Volunteer Day, Disney will donate $1 for every purchase transaction at Once Upon a Toy and Goofy’s Candy Company at Disney Springs on Nov. 23 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. While at “Volunteer Village”, guests can also help build a giant mystery-themed Lego mural that will be donated to Clean the World, and find information on how to get involved in family volunteering in their own community. Over at Disneyland Resort, visiting guests can stop by Disney California Adventure park between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. PT to create keepsake badges for Inside the Outdoors teachers and students. Anaheim City visitors or residents can also join Disney VoluntEARS between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. PT at Farmers Park to pack comfort kits for Mercy House, or at Eucalyptus Park to pack kits for Chrysalis. Disney cast members and their families will also be celebrating by participating in volunteer events to support local communities at Disney parks and resorts all around the world! Can’t make it to Walt Disney World or Disneyland to celebrate in person? You can still join in by sharing a photo or video of your family volunteering on the day using #VolunteerTogether and tagging @DisneyParks. Need help finding a volunteer opportunity in your community? Just visit Points of Light to find a project you can join or tips on how you can create one yourself. You can also follow along on Disney Parks Blog Instagram on Nov. 23 where there will be a Family Volunteer Day takeover featuring fun stories from all the global Disney celebrations. Family Volunteer Day is powered by Points of Light and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company. Nonprofits and schools in the U.S. can join the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program and earn Disney Parks tickets by hosting volunteer family events. *Some exclusions apply; see location for details. 22. Today’s “Disney Doodle” was inspired by Jane from the 1999 film “Tarzan.” In the film, proper Jane carries a parasol that compliments her yellow gown. Artist Ashley Taylor used this tiny detail as inspiration for today’s Disney Doodle, which depicts Jane enjoying the hand-painted parasols one can find at Magic Kingdom Park. “Jane loves carrying around a parasol for shade,” Ashley said. “So it’s easy to imagine how excited she’d be to see hand-painted parasols around the Disney parks!” View the full article
  23. We count it as a blessing when we spot Coco merch around Disney World! ©Walt Disney Studios And, while we’ve sung along to our favorite hits in the Coco Live Show, now we’re even letting the spirits hear our excitement over the fact that this cup is now available in Disney World! Although we’ve spotted it in Disneyland previously, the Souvenir Coco Mug has made it all the way to the Choza de Margarita in Epcot! Souvenir Coco Mug But, unlike the Mexican Hot Chocolate that filled the Disneyland version, this Souvenir Coco Mug comes with non-alcoholic Frozen Conga (YUM!!) Coco Mug The frozen Mexican fruit punch is mixed with orange, pineapple, and lemon juice (and the flavors make us go un poco loco)! 24. Walt Disney World has already unloaded on us an impressive amount of treats this 2019 holiday season! Winterberry Margarita at Hollywood Studios Between all the specialty cocktails, cookies, and cupcakes galore, we’re adding two more to the mix. We worked up quite the thirst while checking out the gingerbread display and holiday decor at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn & Villas, so we decided to hit BoardWalk Joe’s. Located along the turn-of-the-century style promenade, this drink and snacks kiosk features Specialty Margaritas, Mickey Pretzels, Draft Beers, and your standard bottled beverages. Boardwalk Joe’s They are bringing on the holiday SPIRITS with two new holiday beverages. We found the Jack Frost and the Oogie Worm. Boardwalk Joe’s Holiday Beverages The Jack Frost, priced at $15.00, features Corazón Blanco Tequila, Blue Curaçao, and Piña Colada mix. Jack Frost Cocktail This one was pretty strong and we could definitely feel the fiesta with the tequila shining through. But, the sweetness of the Piña Colada mix did a nice job of making the drink a little sweeter. So, if you’re a tequila lover, then this will probably be your jam! Jack Frost cocktail The Oogie Worm, priced at $14.00, features Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Blue Curaçao, Midori, Pineapple Juice, and a Gummy Worm. Oogie Worm As you can imagine from all of those ingredients, this was a VERY sweet, tropical tasting cocktail. With the sugary rim and the gummy worm, it made for some good photos as well. We can’t quite make the Oogie connection other than the worm, but it’s a fun drink for those who prefer their drinks on the more sweeter side. Don’t get us wrong though, we loved the mixture of the pineapple juice, vodka, and other flavors. Oogie Worm If you’re looking to drink & be merry this holiday season while visiting Disney’s BoardWalk, these are both solid options! 25. Popsicles and ice cream bars are kinda our jam. Intermission Food Court But, one of our FAVORITES is the perfect mix of an orange creamsicle (just melting thinking about it tbh). And, now you can have a twist on the frozen treat with a delicious dessert in Disney World! The Orange Dream Cupcake is adorable AND tasty at the Intermission Food Court in the All-Stars Music Resort! Orange Dream Cupcake The vanilla cupcake is filled with orange-flavored buttercream and topped with more orange-flavored buttercream (!!!), sprinkles, and a chocolate Mickey piece. Orange Buttercream While sometimes orange flavors can lean more towards the tangy side, the orange in this bb really reminds us of a creamsicle. There isn’t a citrus-y taste, but there also isn’t an overwhelming sweetness that buttercream might have at times. Just Like an Orange Creamsicle! The entire dessert is SUPER yummy with the vanilla and orange balanced together just like an orange creamsicle! The chocolate Mickey and sprinkles added a nice bit of crunch to the cupcake (which we can’t help but love). Orange Dream Cupcake You can get the Orange Dream Cupcake for $5.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. Don’t mind us… We’ll just be chilling by the pool eatin’ our great cupcake!
