  11. Known as the “Spice Queen,” celebrity Chef Aarti Sequeira brought her zesty wit and culinary wisdom to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival on Nov. 17 with a fabulous “Sunday Brunch with the Chef” event. Born in Bombay, India; raised in Dubai, UAE, and now hailing from Southern California, Chef Aarti showcases a true international and multicultural flare, whether cooking on her own shows, or on any of the myriad of cooking competition shows in which she hosts, judges and competes. Ironically, most of her early background has been behind the camera, studying film and TV in college and working as a producer for CNN. But the world was not to be denied its Spice Queen. After earning her culinary certificate from The New School of Cooking in Culver City, Calif., Chef Aarti started a popular blog and web TV show called “Aarti Paarti.” And then a little push from friends and family urged her to audition for “The Next Food Network Star.” SPOILER ALERT – She won! And the rest, as they say, is history. We caught up with Chef Aarti recently who gave us some tips on spice trends and a recommendation from her book Aarti Paarti: An American Kitchen with an Indian Soul. The 24th Epcot International Food & Wine Festival runs through Nov 23, 2019. A culinary mashup of global cultures and gourmet innovation, the Festival brings irresistible bites, sips, entertainment and family fun to Walt Disney World Resort. This year’s Festival added a dozen extra days, expanding the foodie celebration to a delicious 87 days. Epcot guests can begin with the aromas and flavors of more than 30 festive global food and beverage destinations that extend from Future World to encircle the World Showcase promenade. Guests also can explore opportunities for special tastings and pairings, plus premium dining events featuring chef personalities. For more information on the Festival, check out TasteEpcot.com and keep checking back to the Disney Parks Blog for more Festival updates! View the full article

  19. Magic Kingdom’s entryway has been undergoing some major construction for some time now! Magic Kingdom Ferry Entrance And while you may have just finally made sense out of all the confusion, today a new pathway opened for guests arriving at the Disney World theme park via ferryboat! The new entrance for the ferryboat is much more direct and assists with a bit of bottlenecking at the front entrance. Magic Kingdom Ferry Entrance And while you walk along the new ferryboat entryway, you’ll pass by this new steel-framed structure off to your right! Magic Kingdom Ferry Entrance Beforehand guests exiting the ferryboats would merge in with groups of other guests arriving at the Kingdom. Now, guests have a straighter shot to scan their MagicBands and tickets. Magic Kingdom Ferry Entrance So, next time you’re headed off to the Magic Kingdom, why not arrive by boat and check out the new pathway for yourself! 20. It’s the holidays at Walt Disney World. If you’ve been following along, we’ve been sharing EVERY holiday treat that has made its way to the parks! Gingerbread Sundae from Storybook Treats You may remember the new Deck The Halls drink from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe at Magic Kingdom. This VERY SWEET frosty treat is frozen eggnog topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a “chocolate Christmas bulb.” While we found the drink itself to a little sugary but yummy overall, especially for those who love the Christmas staple, our issue was with the piece of white chocolate sprayed red that they tried to pass off as a bulb! Deck the Halls Not too appetizing, eh? The garnish, which could have been REALLY cool, seemed to be more of an after thought. WELL, WE HAVE NEWS! We returned to Cosmic Ray’s and the lightbulb in question received a DRAMATIC upgrade! Updated Deck The Halls The actual cut of the chocolate is much cleaner, making it much easier to decipher that it’s supposed to be a Christmas bulb. Upgraded ‘Christmas Bulb’ The red coloring on the exterior actually sticks and doesn’t end up looking like something from a crime scene as previously. Our favorite part, it’s on a stick! Now, it won’t sink to the bottom of your drink. Deck The Halls Deck The Halls is available from Cosmic Ray’s for $8.99 throughout the holiday season. Santa at Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail But until Christmas finally arrives (along with our presents!) we’ll just distract ourselves with holiday snacks, which there’s plenty of in Disney World right now — including this new one! Check out Sunshine Churro Cart’s new White Christmas Peppermint Churro! Why — it looks like it’s been left out in sub-zero temperatures!! But upon closure inspection, that’s just powdered sugar! 25. Disney World is really pouring out some interesting seasonal cocktails this holiday season! Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail First, there was the Frozen Eggnoggery and Claus-mo we sipped on Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail. Now a new festive newcomer has joined in the holiday festivities at Disney World — and it has us shaking our heads in disbelief! But, yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus! And there’s ALSO this NEW Peppermint Margarita! It features peppermint syrup, lime juice, silver patron, Cointreau, and a splash of grenadine! And it even comes with a crushed peppermint candy-coated rim! Can’t you just feel the holiday magic emanating off of it?!? We certainly can! Peppermint Margarita But good looks aside, you’re probably wondering how this vision in red, white, and green (thanks to the lime wedge!) actually TASTES! Well, friends, let’s just say it’s very minty, but you can actually still taste the tequila — really! We were pleasantly surprised to find the peppermint flavor wasn’t overpowering like we were kinda expecting it would be. Peppermint Margarita Yeah, here’s the thing — we had our Peppermint Margarita doubts! We just weren’t sure if the peppermint flavor was going to play well with others, but we found it surprisingly refreshing! And for having so much candy action going on, it wasn’t too sweet like some of the other seasonal cocktails we’ve tasted — just don’t go overboard with licking the rim if you’re trying to keep an even keel! It’s definitely packing one seriously cloying punch — if you choose to go there! Peppermint Margarita And another lesson we learned during our brief time with the Peppermint Margarita — this thing is best enjoyed right away! We let ours sit for a while after it had been mixed and some separation started to occur which was a little weird! Peppermint Margarita So try the new Peppermint Margarita for yourself at Dockside Margaritas for $15 and let us know if you’re a Peppermint Margarita believer! Are you excited about trying the new Peppermint Margarita? Let us know if you’ll be ordering one in the comments section below!
