A few weeks ago, the 2019 Food and Wine Classic took place at the Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts! 2019 Food and Wine Classic And while we already told you about some of the tasty sips and bites you could enjoy at this year’s fest when we attended a special preview event a few weeks ago, here’s a look at two of the exclusive events we attended this year! First up, we were super-stoked to be attending the Craft Cocktails class this year! For $55, you get to enjoy three full-size cocktails — so yeah, you know we were quick to signup for THIS one! Craft Cocktails Read more about the 2019 Food and Wine Classic here! Upon arrival, we were given a yummy Kombucha Paloma. It was made with a blend of mezcal and tequila, a sprig of rosemary, grapefruit liquor and topped with Kombucha. While many may not like the taste of kombucha on its own, we gotta say, if you add a splash of a lil sumthin’ sumthin’ to it, something magical happens! Craft Cocktails – Kombucha Paloma We had all the tools of the trade laid out for us when we sat at our station… Craft Cocktails …including some Bacardí Rum, Four Roses Bourbon, and aromatic bitters. Craft Cocktails The class was instructed by the Director of Beverage, Ariel Bruckner and Jason Bradley, the General Manager at bluezoo. After learning the history behind some of the world’s most popular specialty cocktails, it was time to get to mixin’ up some of our own! Craft Cocktails Of course, we were thrilled our little set-up included a plate of nibbles! We were havin’ a blast mixing up cocktails while snacking on the open-faced lobster roll, cheese crunchies, and deviled egg! Snacks During the Seminar During the class, we rolled up our sleeves and got to make two fun cocktails! The first was a daiquiri, made with fresh-squeezed lime juice, rum, and simple syrup. But the fun part was the Swan and Dolphin team had previously made a frozen strawberry mixture in a glass, which served as our ice! As it melted, strawberry flavor mixed with the drink! Adding this to our party hosting ideas list. Craft Cocktails – Frozen Strawberry “Ice” We also got to make a Whiskey Sour — topped with an egg white! It’s not as weird as it sounds — many classic cocktails incorporate shaken egg whites into the mix. Can’t promise we’ll make this one again for our guests, but it was surprisingly tasty. And we were pretty proud of this beauty we shook up! Craft Cocktails – Whiskey Sour With our newly-acquired bartending skills, we knew we were going to throw one heck of a holiday party this year… but the fun didn’t stop there! We also scoped out the Wine Blending class taught by Luciano Sperduto, Director of Food and Beverage. Wine Blending This seminar was all about the art of wine — which we’re ALL ABOUT! This class focused on learning the tastes of different wines along with how to know which ones to pair with which kinds of food — a skill that really comes in handy! Wine Blending The Bordeaux Blending Lab was really interesting! Not only did we have SO MUCH WINE in front of us… Wine Blending …but we were lent a special pipette to blend them with! Wine Blending Changing a little bit more of one varietal or the other can dramatically change the taste of a wine blend, and it was a blast playing food scientists for a while coming up with our favorite mix! This class came with its own plate of munchies too including a selection of brie, cheddar, and goat cheeses served with honeycomb, guava paste, and a little piece of date cake! Wine Blending All our new wine and cocktail knowledge wasn’t the only thing we were taking home with us. Check out the cool Food and Wine Classic notepad and pen we scored! Wine Blending And we’re toasting this year’s 2019 Food and Wine Classic with our new commemorative wine glass which we also received at the seminar! Cheers, to you, Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts! 2019 Food and Wine Classic And while it will be a whole year until the Food and Wine Classic returns to the Swan and Dolphin, Epcot’s 2019 Food and Wine Festival is still going strong (well, at least for a few more days!) so if you missed out on last weekend, get over to Epcot to snag the last few morsels of their fest which is happening now through November 23rd! Did you get the chance to visit the Swan and Dolphin’s Food and Wine Classic this year? Tell us what you thought of this year’s fest in the comments below! If you’ve been bingeing out on Disney+ since its launch on November 12th, then you’ve probably noticed some key features you’ve come to know and love from those other subscription services have been strangely absent from the new streaming app. Disney+ But now, Disney+ has just made several updates to its live-streaming platform, making it easier for viewers to navigate and access its extensive Disney, Marvel and Star Wars-related content! Disney+’s recent update includes a “resume watching” feature which wasn’t available when the app first went live earlier this month. We don’t know about you, but it was a major time suck having to re-open the movie we passed out watching the night before and fast-forwarding to where we’d left off! Luckily, the new “resume” feature alleviates that problem for us now! There’s also a “restart” button — in case you need to go back to the beginning of whatever you’re watching which is also super-handy! Disney+ We’re happy to see these new features added and are glad to see Disney+ is actively adapting to users’ needs. What other features will Disney+ be adding to its app? With a reported 10-million Disney+ users to satisfy, we suspect more improvements will continue to roll-out! What features would you like Disney+ to have in future updates? Let us know what improvements would make you binge-watching easier in the comments below! Related posts: Disney+ Update: What We Learned at the D23 Expo! Our incredible Disney chefs bring magic in the form of meals to thousands of Walt Disney World Resort guests each and every day. And twice each month, they mix their passion for the culinary arts and our local Central Florida community into a unique opportunity to deliver that same magic to nearly 600 of our neighbors who may not experience a warm meal otherwise. For the past 20 years, our culinary teams have created nutritious—and delicious—meals in their Disney kitchens and then teamed up with Disney VoluntEARS to deliver and serve the offerings at the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, a local nonprofit organization that serves more than 20,000 meals to those in need each year. New Underwater Princess Cupcake at Caribbean Beach Resort The delicious, tropical flavors found at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort eateries carry through to this yummy new option! The Underwater Princess Cupcake consists of pineapple cake filled and topped with coconut buttercream (!!!), blue and lavender icing, and blue crisp pearls. It is adorned with a lavender seashell, and graham cracker “sand”. This cupcake is fit for a mermaid princess! It’s another exciting day for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products! In addition to the recently announced Thea Awards, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) also recognized Disney with four Brass Ring Awards for immersive products and atmosphere entertainment. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge hit it out of this galaxy with three Brass Ring Awards for the experiential merchandise items found on Batuu. Best Hard Good Item: The personalized lightsabers created by guests at Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers. The experience is guided by ancient wisdom, yet crafted by the choices guests make before igniting it with a kyber crystal. Best Visual Merchandising: The custom astromech units built by guests at the Droid Depot that interact with the land. Best Plush: The Porg was recognized not only for item itself, but also for the experience guests have when choosing their very own Porg from the Creature Stall. “We have created an entirely immersive experience that weaves the story of Batuu through every point in the land,” said Kareem Daniel, president, Walt Disney Imagineering Operations, Product Creation, Games and Publishing. “From attractions to products, the creative storytelling of The Walt Disney Company is behind it all to actively engage and immerse Guests in the stories we tell.” Additionally, in the live entertainment category, the Brass Ring Award for Best Atmosphere went to the Green Army Drum Corps — which marches through Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios several times a day playing lively percussion sets with inspiring drum sequences. “It’s incredible to see the effect that atmosphere entertainment has on our guests and the Green Army Drum Corps is no exception,” said David Lightbody, senior vice president for Disney Parks Live -Entertainment. “We are thrilled to have been recognized by IAAPA for this talented group of musicians that help bring Toy Story Land to life and involve our guests in fun and memorable ways.” Congratulations to all of the teams behind these incredible products and experiences! If you’ve opened the My Disney Experience app today, you may have noticed a few changes! ©Disney While the app helps Disney World guests view their PhotoPass photos, make dining reservations, and order food at participating Counter Service restaurants by using Mobile Order, we noticed something looked different on My Disney Experience today when we tried to create a FastPass! First, we noticed the FastPass search has changed. Before you could filter available FastPasses by morning, afternoon, and evening times. Now, you can search them by the hour — and FastPass times are also by the hour now, not half-hour as they had been previously! My Disney Experience Then we noticed how you modify a FastPass has also changed. You can now select, “change” near the attraction to switch attractions or select “change” next to your arrival time to change the time. In the past, this was done on one screen, but the newly updated My Disney Experience has two separate screens now for these actions! My Disney Experience Another change we noticed is that we can now toggle and refresh to see if any new FastPass times appear. For example, say the earliest time available for an attraction is 5:20 PM. You can toggle the times by grabbing them and pulling them to the right to refresh making potentially earlier times show up! My Disney Experience Check out the new changes for yourself next time you open the My Disney Experience and let us know what you think! Do you enjoy using the My Disney Experience app while visiting Disney World? Tell us what you use it for most in the comments below!
