January is the time to Rock the Dots everybody! Minnie Cupcake With National Polka Dot Day on January 22nd and the Rock the Dots Collection in the parks, there’s no better time to celebrate Minnie Mouse. And, we’ve SPOTTED a sweet treat that we think Minnie Mouse would adore! Thanks to our DFB pal @yellowbeadsandme, we were told that the Minnie Cupcake has been baking up at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Minnie Cupcake The vanilla cupcake is filled with orange frosting and topped with strawberry frosting, crispy pearls, edible glitter, and a chocolate Minnie bow. We always love when they put one of those adorable chocolate Minnie bows on top, don’t you?! Strawberry Frosting You can get the Minnie Cupcake for $5.99 at Everything POP in Pop Century (and be sure to wear some of your best polka dots when you grab it)! Oh, and while you’re there, maybe grab a second one to give to Minnie!! Orange Frosting Filling According to our DFB pal @yellowbeadsandme, this is super delicious and so we can’t wait to give this super adorable cupcake a try! And if you happen to try it out let us know what ya thought. Have you tried the Minnie Cupcake yet? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: Review! Lunar New Year is just around the corner in Disney California Adventure, but you don’t have to wait until then to have amazing treats! Pacific Wharf Cafe If you’re craving something chocolatey or creamy, you can have them both in the newest treat making its way to Pixar Pier! The Oreo Cheesecake Bread Pudding has multiple treats in one over at the Pacific Wharf Cafe! Oreo Cheesecake Bread Pudding The hot bread pudding is filled with cheesecake and Oreos and then topped with whipped cream, crushed Oreos, and raspberry drizzle. ALL the Toppings!! Not only does the bread smell AH-MAZING, the appearance is extremely super Insta-worthy thanks to it’s “zebra-striped” pattern of Oreo, bread, and the center filling of cheesecake. Now enough about looks, it’s time to talk taste. After one bite, we were absolutely hooked. The bread pudding basically tastes like a very soft and warm Oreo (major heart eyes). The cheesecake filling goes extremely well with the chocolate flavor, but we wish there had been more! Cheesecake Filling Plus, we LOVE the fact that subtle hints of the raspberry drizzle comes through. Honestly, it’s one of our favorite bread puddings that Pacific Wharf Cafe has come up with! Another fave being the Cherry Cheesecake Bread Pudding they served a few months back. While we could have another two, you might want to head over to Pacific Wharf soon since it’s likely a seasonal item (and totally worth it). Oreo Cheesecake Bread Pudding You can try out the Oreo Cheesecake Bread Pudding for $5.99 before the Annual Passholder discount. But, you might want to come back for another! ;D Check out more Disneyland Food Reviews Here!! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! The Bell-Wallace family from Ohio recently traveled to Walt Disney World Resort as special VIP guests of honor for Family Volunteer Day, but there was one special person they were most excited to meet — Disney chef, Bea Canderlario. Carey Wallace and her family first heard about Chef Bea in Kevin Brown’s book “The Hero Effect,” which tells the story of everyday heroes making a difference in people’s lives. The Brown family met Bea in 2007 during a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort with their then nine-year-old son, Josh, who is on the autism spectrum. On the family’s first morning, they visited the restaurant Bea worked at and Josh ordered his favorite breakfast, Apple Pancakes. Josh is gluten intolerant, and at the time, the restaurant didn’t have gluten-free flour to make Josh his ‘special pancakes.’ The next day, the family returned and Josh again wanted his favorite pancakes. This time however, Bea was able to make the pancakes, as she had stopped at the store on her way home from work and bought gluten-free flour, just in case Josh, or another child like him, returned. That touching moment was the beginning of long friendship between the Browns and Chef Bea, who calls Josh her “little sunshine.” The family was so touched by her thoughtfulness that they ate at Bea’s restaurant every day for the rest of their vacation and have visited with her many more times since. For the Bell-Wallace family, Chef Bea’s inspiring story really struck a chord. Their own daughter Morgan is also living with autism, so they know first-hand how important these small acts of kindness can be for families like theirs. “It is unusual to find people who go so far out of their way for kids who have special needs, and I know what it means when someone goes the extra mile to understand our daughter, so it was amazing to hear Bea’s story and to know that she makes such a difference,” Carey said. “I think Bea truly is a hero for families like ours and I wanted to meet her to say thank you for being that kind of person in the world.” For Bea, it was all in a day’s work, as going the extra mile is what Disney Cast Members do best, but she was touched that the Bell-Wallaces had heard her story and wanted to meet with her during their own vacation. “To me, it’s families like theirs that are the real heroes,” Bea said. “Getting to meet them has really made my day. It’s incredible to think that something I did more than ten years ago is impacting people today.” The Bell-Wallaces were recognized as Disney Points of Light Volunteer Family of the Year finalists for their own acts of kindness, volunteering together for many years at Dreams on Horseback’s equine therapy program for veterans and children with special needs. While earlier we tangoed with the delicious Turtle Cinnamon Roll (and lived to tell the tale!), we’re back with a review of another sweet treat! S’mores Muffin What is this delicious-looking snack? This hybrid of sorts is called the S’mores Muffin — and it’s one of Disney World’s beautiful pastry children! Will it be as good as the Turtle Cinnamon Roll? Let’s find out, shall we? Alright, guys, we know what you’re thinking…this ain’t no muffin. And truth be told, we didn’t think so either when we first saw it. The S’mores Muffin definitely resembles more of a cupcake, so make S’mores Breakfast Cupcake would’ve been more appropriate? But this is Disney World we’re talking about and desserts intersect with breakfast items on the reg here, so YOLO. S’mores Muffin The new-to-us S’mores Muffin features a super-dense, chocolatey muffin, topped with crushed graham crackers and a couple of mini marshmallows. Not much to it, but maybe there’s elegance in its simplicity we’re hoping? But sadly, the flavors of the S’mores Muffin are pretty underwhelming. It’s just a really moist, rich chocolate muffin. You can barely taste the graham cracker crumbles on top and the mini marshmallows are gone after one bite. S’mores Muffin Since the S’mores Muffin costs $4.99 (the same price as the Turtle Cinnamon Roll) we’d rather go it instead and pass on the S’mores. And the Cast Member at The Contemporary Resort’s Joffrey’s (where we found both items) said they rotate their treats daily, so you might not always be able to find ’em there! We’ll be on the look-out for these guys at other Joffery’s locations and let you know if we spot them anywhere else! Which sounds better to you — the S’mores Muffin or the Turtle Cinnamon Roll? If there’s a Toy Story Land snack that we have a soft spot for, it’s definitely the lunch box tart. Lemon-Blueberry Lunch Box Tart Of course, there’s the staple tart at Woody’s Lunch Box with the Chocolate-Hazelnut kind (um, hello, it has candied bacon on top!!) but the other flavors of tart tend to rotate depending on the season. Just yesterday we spotted that the holiday Cinnamon-Apple Lunch Box Tart had been replaced with the classic Raspberry Tart, and today we’re seeing another tart on the menu. We spotted that the Lemon-Blueberry Tart had returned on My Disney Experience today and we were PUMPED. My Disney Experience Ugh. Yum. Now we can’t stop thinking about it. This tart is a perfectly balanced blend of lemon and blueberry flavors all wrapped up in flaky pastry. Plus, it has blue icing with a little white chocolate Luxo ball on top which is totally cute. Lemon-Blueberry Lunch Box Tart You can grab this delish seasonal tart for yourself at Woody’s Lunch Box for $4.29 or for a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit! If you haven’t tried this one, you really don’t want to miss out on it. And if you have tried this one, you already knew that it’s too good to miss! Here at DFB, we’re not ones to shy away from a challenge when we see one! Especially when it’s a sweet one! Turtle Cinnamon Roll So when we laid eyes on this BIG-AS-YOUR-HEAD cinnamon roll at Disney World today, it was GAME ON! This isn’t just any cinnamon roll, friends, — if you can call any of Disney World’s spectacular cinnamon rolls “just cinnamon rolls”. Joining the ranks of the Main Street Bakery’s Cinnamon Roll, the Colossal Cinnamon Roll, and Gaston Tavern’s Warm Cinnamon Roll we proudly present to you the Turtle Cinnamon Roll! Turtle Cinnamon Roll Get the recipe and instructions for making the Main Street Bakery’s famous cinnamon rolls at home HERE! This ONE is truly one for the ages, folks! In lieu of icing, the new-to-us Turtle Cinnamon Roll is glazed with creamy caramel, drizzled with milk chocolate, and sprinkled with pecans! It’s so ridiculous, we have our suspicions that an evil genius must’ve created it. Turtle Cinnamon Roll Biting into it, you can’t really taste the cinnamon, but you can definitely see the flecks of it on the outer edges! The Turtle Cinnamon Roll is VERY caramelly, and every now and again the chocolate comes through, but it mostly tastes like caramel! The pecans add an awesome crunchy texture to the cinnamon roll which is soft and doughy. And did we mention it’s MASSIVE? A family could survive on it alone for a week probably? Alright, just kidding…but seriously, for $4.99, this treat is HUGE!!! Turtle Cinnamon Roll We found the Turtle Cinnamon Roll at the Joffrey’s inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. If you wanna challenge yourself to one, make sure you swing by in the afternoon as they don’t always have the Turtle Cinnamon Roll in the mornings! You got this! And if you don’t see it there, it may pop up in other Joffrey’s bakery cases across property! Do you think you’ve got what it takes to take on the Turtle Cinnamon Roll at Disney’s Contemporary Resort? Let us know if you’re excited about trying this treat in the comments below! It might be time to scurry on over to the Mint Julep Bar in Disneyland because some surprising beignets are back! Sour Cherry Beignets Last summer, we spotted one of the most unique beignet flavors to grace the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square. Sour. Cherry. Beignets. Seriously, how did they think up Sour Cherry Beignets?? Well, get ready to pucker up because this sweet and sour treat just returned to Disneyland! We spotted the return of a Seasonal Beignet on the Mint Julep Bar menu, and what does that little text say? Oh, that’s right, Sour Cherry Beignets are BACK. You can chow down on a three-piece for $5.49 or on a six-piece for 8.99. Mint Julep Bar Menu Now be forewarned, we didn’t love this crazy rendition as much as a classic beignet. The red sour candy sugar isn’t nearly as fine as classic beignet sugar and it definitely screws with the texture, so don’t expect this one to be melting in your mouth like a traditional beignet. Plus, it really is SOUR. So if puckering up isn’t your thing, maybe look elsewhere for that beignet fix. But if it is, then this thing is pretty darn good! Sour Cherry Beignets All in all, though, we think everyone should try this treat once, just for the wild experience that it is! So, if you missed out on Sour Cherry Beignets last year, scurry over to Mint Julep Bar and give them a try! Click here to check out our review of the Sour Cherry Mickey Beignets! It hasn’t been very long since our last check-in on the presumable walkway which will join Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to the Magic Kingdom. Grand Floridian Walkway Construction But quite a lot has happened in the brief time we’ve been away! It appears they’ve started establishing the path of the new walkway on the Magic Kingdom-side of the Seven Seas Lagoon. Grand Floridian Walkway Construction We saw a bunch of digging had occurred and some earth had been displaced as the new pathway connecting the Grand Floridian to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom begins to take form. Lights have also been installed along the pathway. Grand Floridian Walkway Construction And a large piece of metal has been installed along the walkway. This may be used for directional signage, we aren’t entirely sure just yet! Grand Floridian Walkway Construction We feel a lot of excitement over the possibility of walking to the Grand Flo (which also has a walkway to Disney’s Polynesian Resort) for a nice stroll (and maybe a cocktail from Enchanted Rose or The Poly’s Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!) when the Magic Kingdom reaches its mid-day levels of crowdedness. If you’ve been following along with our coverage of Hollywood Studios’ Rise of the Resistance since it’s grand opening back in December, then you know how tricky getting into a coveted boarding group for the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge major attraction has been at Disney World! Rise of the Resistance And with Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance poised to open on January 17th, here’s what you’ll need to know to ensure your place in line at the west coast’s version of the ride! We know you’re excited about your first escape from the First Order when Rise of the Resistance officially opens in Disneyland next week. That’s why we want you to be prepared for what to expect! And while you probably don’t want to read any spoilers (if you do, that’s ok, too! Click here to read ’em!) you DO want to know about how you’ll be boarding the ride. Rise of the Resistance Sorry, folks — this isn’t going to be a walk-up and get-on situation. Similar to Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance, you will need a boarding pass to ride it, which means getting to Disneyland EARLY! Rise of the Resistance Don’t forget, as we shared a few weeks ago, Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance will be doing a virtual queue system very similar to what we’ve seen already encountered at Disney World. Using the official Disneyland mobile app, you’ll be able to reserve your place in a boarding group to ride the new attraction after you have entered the Disneyland park. That means you can arrive at the park as early as you want, but the virtual queue system won’t be accessible until AFTER the park officially opens. (We do recommend getting there early though because then you’ll have a better chance at getting a boarding group — which fill up very QUICKLY!) Once you request and successfully join a boarding group, you’re free to roam and go wherever you like. You’ll receive a push notification when its time to return to Rise of the Resistance and you can also check the status of the boarding groups at anytime using the app. Rise of the Resistance If you don’t have the Disneyland app, there will be a few locations inside the park where you can join, but we HIGHLY recommend downloading the app, — and make sure you do so before heading to the park! Disney also has stated, “Admission into Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be subject to capacity, and having an assigned boarding group will not guarantee entrance to the attraction.” As you may remember, Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance experience quite a few hiccups in its early days and broke down frequently, causing delays and unfortunately disappointing some fans who were unable to ride it. Standby Line For Rise of the Resistance We’re hoping Rise of the Resistance’s grand opening in Disneyland goes a lot smoother and many folks are able to enjoy the new ride! Stay tuned, as we’ll be reporting live from Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when Rise of the Resistance opens next Friday! Want to go ON Rise of the Resistance with us? Then, check out our video below! But CAUTION there are plenty of spoiler alerts in the video! Will you be in Disneyland next week for Rise of the Resistance’s grand opening? Tell us if you’re going in the comments below! Related posts: 60-Day Advance Reservations Now Available For Oga’s Cantina, Savi’s Workshop, and Droid Depot in Disneyland! NEWS! When Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens at the Disneyland Resort one week from today, you will be able to ride one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering. Already open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, this epic adventure blurs the lines between fantasy and reality on a scale never seen before in a Disney attraction. Here are seven ways to make the most out of your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and planning tips for the highly anticipated opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance on Jan. 17 at Disneyland park: 1. Download the official Disneyland mobile app First things first. The Disneyland app* allows you to navigate that land and even utilize the mobile ordering feature at select dining locations when you are in the land. Be sure to download before you go! 2. Plan around your attraction experience Starting Jan. 17 as needed, a virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance may be implemented to help deliver the best possible guest experience, allowing guests to explore other areas of the park while waiting for their turn to ride. The Disneyland app will have a dedicated module, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group, available from the main page. Here’s how it will work: Request to join a boarding group to ride the attraction, once you have entered Disneyland park. The virtual queue will not be available until published park opening hours. Boarding groups will be sent a push notification when it is their turn to enter the attraction queue and you can monitor status of boarding groups from the app. There also will be the ability to join a boarding group from select locations inside Disneyland park, if you are not using the app. The boarding group is tied to admission that will be scanned upon entry of the attraction. Signage throughout the park will also display boarding group status. Admission into Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be subject to capacity, and having an assigned boarding group will not guarantee entrance to the attraction. 3. Make a reservation for select experiences Whether you’re looking to craft your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, build your very own custom astromech droid unit at Droid Depot, or sip on a delicious concoction at Oga’s Cantina, these three locations offer advance reservations up to 60 days in advance. These popular experiences book up quickly, so be sure to check out the Disneyland Resort website or the Disneyland app to make your reservations today! 4. Display your affiliation with the rebellious Resistance or the intimidating First Order You’re encouraged to live out your Star Wars story and dress the part while visiting Batuu, however, keep in mind the Disneyland Resort costume policy is in effect. While costumes may not be worn by guests 14 years of age or older, appropriate bounding—dressing in outfits inspired by Star Wars—is permitted. 5. Find a buddy to ride with you Head to Batuu’s marketplace to check out the Creature Stall. You may find an exotic creature or critter from around the galaxy to accompany you aboard Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, including a sassy Kowakian monkey-lizard or an adorable porg! 6. Explore Black Spire Outpost with your Star Wars: Datapad through the Play Disney Parks App If you’ve traveled to Batuu, you may be familiar with the Star Wars: Datapad, a land-wide interactive experience available through the Play Disney Parks mobile app.* There are so many ways to explore with your Datapad, including choosing to support the Resistance or First Order by selecting new jobs within the app as you move through the Resistance clearing and towards the new attraction. 7. Follow the experience with a refreshing treat After escaping the clutches of the dark side, treat yourself to a local delicacy in Batuu – Blue Milk and Green Milk! Available at the Milk Stand, these frosty confections are an invigorating, refreshing drink. Pair your milk with a sweet, savory snack made with popcorn from Kat Saka’s Kettle. Try the new chocolate popcorn with Crait Red Salt – yum! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens Jan. 17 at the Disneyland Resort. Rising Moons! *Message, data and roaming rates may apply. Availability subject to handset limitations, and features may vary by handset, service provider or otherwise. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you’re under 18, get your parents’ permission first. Some features require separate theme park admission View the full article

Happy Friday, everybody! Can you believe you’ve almost made it through your first week back to work or school since the holidays ended? Neither can we! Greetings from Epcot! To pat ourselves on the back, let’s take a walk through one of our favorite Disney World parks and see What’s New in Epcot! The holiday crowds have filtered out and Epcot is returning to business-as-usual this week — just like the rest of us! Let’s see what construction, food, and merchandise updates we can spot on our trek today! Construction Update in Epcot Entrance and Parking Riding the monorail into Epcot, we had a good aerial-perspective of some of the construction happening in and around the park today. As much as we don’t enjoy looking at construction walls and scrim, they sure are effective at covering up all the work these guys are doing when we’re at eye-level! Epcot Parking We saw lots of heavy equipment digging and moving dirt around in the parking lot area as we pulled into Epcot! Epcot Parking Speaking of Epcot’s entrance, our eagle eyes saw some of what’s been going on behind those construction walls too! Epcot Entrance Plus, look at how heavily fortified those temporary walls are! So many cinderblocks! Epcot Entrance Find out more about the Epcot transformation here! Future World Epcot’s entrance and parking lot aren’t the only spots transforming! Check out the current view of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! It’s kind of crazy that ALL of this can be seen from the monorail, don’t ya think?! Guardians of the Galaxy Construction The former entrance to Ellen’s Universe of Energy is barely recognizable now that the solar panels have been removed! The coloring of the building has also changed, now that the details are bronze. Guardians of the Galaxy Construction It also looks like work is being done on the new sidewalk. While the design isn’t as cool as we had imagined it would be, we’re eager to see the finished product. Guardians Construction We’re excited to see that they are hard at work on this HUGE new attraction, which isn’t projected to be completed until 2021! Guardians of the Galaxy Construction We can’t wait to ride it then! And we’re still waiting on news regarding Space 220 Restaurant — no word yet on when we’ll be dining among the stars, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything! Read more about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coming to Epcot in 2021 here! Needless to say, Future World is the most impacted by all the construction occurring throughout Epcot. Recently, we’ve seen Mouse Gear move to a new temporary location, as well as relocations for Epcot’s Starbucks and character meet-and-greets. Electric Umbrella will also be closing soon, likely for good. And as of this week, Cool Wash is also now cut off by a construction wall. Cool Wash See where the new Epcot character meet-and-greet locations currently are here! Meanwhile, Epcot is gearing up for Awesome Planet’s big debut next week! The new film is starting on January 17th! We saw this sign at the entrance of The Land listing all the various attractions the pavilion now holds. Awesome Planet Signage Find out more about Awesome Planet here! And Awesome Planet was really looking awesome today! Not only will Awesome Planet be debuting next week, but so is Canada Far and Wide, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along and Epcot’s 2020 Internation Festival of the Arts! We, of course, can’t wait for it all to BEGIN next Friday! Awesome Planet And check this out — Awesome Planet has a digital wait time sign so you’ll know when the next show is starting! Very handy! Awesome Planet Wait Time Sign See which other attractions are coming soon to Disney World here! World Showcase We headed over to the France pavilion’s Palais du Cinema next to see how preparations for the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along were coming along. Palais du Cinema at the France Pavilion They too have installed a digital wait time sign so you’ll know if you have enough time to duck into L’Artisan des Glaces of Les Halles for a quick snack beforehand! We hope you’ll enjoy the new sing-along which is a retelling of the classic tale, but with a twist! Palais du Cinema Wait Time Sign Read about the twist to the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along here! We can tell its almost Festival of the Arts time because festival booths have started going up around the World Showcase! Festival of the Arts is one of our favorite festivals to shop for unique pieces of art for our sweet Disney abodes! Festival of the Arts Booths See the complete list of this year’s Festival of the Arts food booths and menus HERE! And we also love to watch the free nightly Disney on Broadway performances at the American Adventure pavilion. The theater has put up this year’s entertainers which you can learn more about here! Regal Eagle Smokehouse While Regal Eagle Smokehouse’s menu was finally released this week, construction on the bbq joint is still underway! Regal Eagle Construction Disney also revealed the ENTIRE Regal Eagle menu this week! See what BBQ they’ll be serving here!
