  2. Looking for a way to escape winter? The port of Miami, where the Disney Magic is offering welcomed escapes all winter long to paradise aboard both Western Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries, is the perfect place to beat those winter blues. And even better yet – most of the itineraries include a stop to my personal favorite island in the world, Disney’s Castaway Cay! Has it been a while since you’ve cruised aboard the Disney Magic or sailed out of Miami? If so, here are a few highlights to look forward to if your family is headed to South Florida for one of these sailings! Explore Miami I don’t know about you, but one of the reasons why I love going on cruises is to experience new destinations. There are amazing itineraries to explore at sea, but one aspect of cruising I feel is overlooked is the chance to explore the homeports from where you first embark. And if you’re anything like me – someone who is not a fan of the cold, winter weather – you look for any opportunity to soak up the sun, making Miami the ideal homeport for my next Disney cruise! While the city of Miami is well-known as a destination for cruising and tourism, it also offers a mosaic of diverse cultures and is an epicenter of unique dining, art and music. Miami is also home to two must-see national parks—Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park, which boasts the only living tropical reef within the continental U.S. Marvel Day at Sea Beginning Jan. 9, select sailings out of Miami will feature Marvel Day at Sea, one heroic day at sea filled with encounters with some of your favorite Super Heroes, action-packed entertainment and Marvel-themed activities designed for the entire family! It’s one super event. If you prefer a more royal celebration, the Disney Magic offers your family the unique opportunity to dine at Rapunzel’s Royal Table, the first table service restaurant themed to “Tangled.” Enjoy dinner and special live entertainment that includes singing and dancing led by a merry band of musicians, the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs and of course, my favorite golden-haired princess, Rapunzel! “Tangled: The Musical” To spend even more time celebrating with the kingdom of Corona, be sure to check out “Tangled: The Musical” in the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the Disney Magic. This Broadway-style show brings the 2010 animated classic to life. With enchanting music, adventure, romance and plenty of humor, this production will have you tapping your toes and singing along to some of your favorite “Tangled” melodies. And speaking of music, did you know that the film’s songwriting team of Alan Menken and Glenn Slater composed three new songs – “Flower of Gold,” “Wanted Man” and “When the Princess Returns” for this stage adaptation? It’s a must-see while onboard. This is just a quick glimpse at all that’s offered onboard the Disney Magic. To check out available itineraries out of Miami and learn more about sailing aboard the Disney Magic, visit DisneyCruise.com. View the full article

  12. We had worked up quite a thirst for the Liquid Luau we enjoyed earlier at Trader Sam’s today, but now we’re totally famished! Trolley Treats at Disney California Adventure Luckily, we’re not too far from one of our favorite spots at Disney Calfornia Adventure to grab a sweet snack, Trolley Treats! And WHAT HAVE WE HERE? A Rice Krispy Treat masquerading as a Mickey Donut??? Is this the cutest thing ever? We certainly think so! Mickey Donut Rice Krispy Treat We think its design closely resembles the chocolate glazed Celebration Mickey Donuts you can get at Disney World’s Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom! Mickey Donut Krispy Treat But this donut look-alike has a peanut buttery surprise inside! And we found out the little bit of peanut butter goes a looooong way but really balanced out the flavors and textures of the krispy treat nicely. The snack is also decorated adorably with dyed white chocolate and sprinkles. Each bite was nice and SWEET! Mickey Donut Krispy Treat You can find the Mickey Donut Krispy Treat for $5.99 at Trolley Treats, but don’t let it fool you by its clever disguise! The graphic of Mickey Mouse in mid-stride on the side of the shoes is very visually-striking, too! © Mickey Mouse x Adidas The final pair of Mickey Mouse x Adidas Stan Smiths features a design similar to the one shown on the Superstars but in a simple color story of black and white! 15. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is one of our favorite spots to spend a “little island” time at The Disneyland Hotel! Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar And we especially love sailing over there when there’s a new SECRET MENU DRINK to try! Follow us over to the tropical oasis to taste the new Liquid Luau! Check out the new Liquid Luau! Isn’t is a stunning vision?! And while you won’t currently find the Liquid Luau on any Trader Sam’s menu, simply ask a bartender for it, and they’ll make you one! The ingredients include pineapple juice, lemon juice, passion fruit syrup, Plantation OFTD Overproof Rum, and Canton Ginger Liqueur, topped with a Coruba Dark Rum floater! Liquid Luau We, of course, love the Trader Sam’s swizzle stick the drink is served with! This will go nicely with the rest of our Trader Sam’s collection including the HatBox Ghost Tiki Mug and Nutcracker Tiki Mug we recently added to our tiki memorabilia shelf! Liquid Luau And we think the Liquid Luau tastes totally awesome! The rum was undoubtedly there but was not in any way overpowering. It’s actually a nice, refreshing beverage! The fruit flavors weren’t overly sweet either. Plus the flower that comes on top is edible — but it might be too pretty for some to eat! Liquid Luau We got the Liquid Luau at Trader Sam’s today for $11.50, so limbo on over there if you want to snag one for yourself! And don’t forget that you can also snag the secret menu Baby Yoda drink at Trader Sam’s too. Check that little guy out here! 16. Lately, it seems like Walt Disney World and the phrase “price changes” are attached at the hip. From increasing ticket prices to raising the cost of Annual Passes, the Most Magical Place on Earth unveiled so many price changes last year that it’s honestly hard to keep track of them all! Cinderella Castle Today, let’s chat about all the most recent price changes in Disney World and how they may affect your vacation! Refillable Mugs If you typically stay on property in a Disney World hotel, you’ve likely spotted your fair share of super-cute Refillable Mugs. In case you aren’t super familiar with these, hotel guests have the option to purchase a mug that they may refill as many times as they wish with select non-alcoholic beverages at their hotel (or at any other Disney World hotel). Mickey Mouse Refillable Resort Mug While those who opt to purchase the Disney Dining Plan get a mug included in their package price, all other guests may purchase them for a separate price. In October of this month, the price to purchase a refillable mug increased from $18.99 to $19.99. Since you can only use this mug for refills while you’re in one of the hotels, the value of purchasing a mug (separately from the Disney Dining Plan) is definitely up for debate. Resort Refillable Mug Sign But the refillable mug news kept a-comin’ last year! In November of last year, insulted metal versions of the refillable mugs were released around the resorts. Skyliner mugs were first spotted followed by Star Wars-themed mugs! Skyliner Refillable Mug These mugs were a definite upgrade from the small plastic ones BUT came with an additional cost. Guests not on the Dining Plan could opt to purchase these mugs for $29.99 instead of $19.99 or Dining plan guests could pay a $10 upgrade to get the metal mugs. The metal mugs definitely have a greater chance of use beyond your trip to Disney World, but, especially if you’re purchasing multiple mugs, that cost can add up quickly! Learn more about Refillable Mugs here! How Could This Affect Your Trip? If you’re on the fence about purchasing the mugs, decide if your family will get adequate use out of the mugs during your stay (or after your trip, possibly like with the metal insulated mugs!) to justify the cost. Is your room close to a refilling location or will you have to walk clear across your resort to use them? Can you keep them in your bag and fill them up on your way to and from the parks each day? Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa are available beverages — can you offset the cost of the mugs by opting to enjoy your morning beverage at your resort in lieu of that daily latte from a Starbucks in the parks? Hot Beverage Station The mugs not worth the cost to your family? All Disney World quick-service locations do give out complimentary cups of ice water to guests and water fountains and bottle refilling stations are positioned around the parks, so you’ll always have access to free water as needed. Flight of Passage Bottle Filler Don’t want to shell out for the mugs but still interested in them? Consider trying to book your trip while Disney is offering Free Dining (like…NOW!). Then you’ll get the benefit of the mugs without feeling the pinch on your wallet quite as hard. Learn more about the 2020 Free Dining offer here! Food Price Changes SO MANY price changes took place on October 1 of last year. Across-the-board price changes included increases on alcoholic beverages, breakfast sandwiches, churros, Mickey Pretzels, chocolate milk, and more. (Oddly enough, white milk decreased in price ever so slightly!). Take a look at prices before and after the price hike: Old Mickey Pretzel Menu New Pretzel Menu Explore these price changes here! How Could This Affect Your Trip? Interestingly, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, these price increases mean you can actually squeeze a bit more value out of your plan! Yay! But if you aren’t, you may want to opt for bringing more snacks with you to the parks instead of purchasing them there or be more strategic in which snacks you choose to purchase. This is another great reason to consider snatching up that Free Dining offer. Then you can enjoy most snacks as you please with no worry of the price increases! Even if you don’t catch Free Dining while it’s offered, there are numerous other discounts available right now that could help lower the overall cost of your trip, leaving a bigger budget for snackage! Check out other recently released Disney World Discounts here! Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties Starting February 1, 2020, a trio of Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert parties will ALL increase in price. These parties offer special viewing areas for the Happily Ever After fireworks and an array of sweet treats. Happily Ever After Dessert Party in Magic Kingdom The Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace will see a price jump from $84 to $99 per adult and from $50 to $59 per child ages 3-9. The Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing will increase from $69 to $79 per adult and from $41 to $47 per child. And finally, the Magic Kingdom After Fireworks Dessert Party will increase from $69 to $79 per adult and from $41 to $47 per child. Happily Ever After That’s a pretty substantial increase for many of the already rather pricey parties! Find out which dessert party is right for you here! How Could This Affect Your Trip? If you were already on the fence about attending a dessert party, this may make your choice a bit easier! But if you want those special views and fun treats, it may still be worth paying a bit extra. Happily Ever After AFTER Dessert Party Spread This will really come down to your family’s preference. If you want those near-perfect views of the fireworks and all the tasty goodies that come with it, see if there’s somewhere else in your trip budget you can save. Can you opt for quick service instead of one table service meal? Maybe bring quick breakfast options with you to keep in your room instead of paying for breakfast. Little cost-saving measures can really add up, leaving you with more money for fun splurges like a dessert party! Learn more about the Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert parties here! Minnie Mouse Ears Another price increase we were bummed about? The price hike on standard Minnie Ears from $27.99 to $29.99. Arendelle Aqua Minnie Ears While the price of the standard ears is still NOTHING compared to crazy-expensive Heidi Klum or Coach designer ears, it’s still something to consider. Minnie Ears Got multiple family members looking to stock up on some new ears? The money can add up quick! Learn more about the $$$ hike on Minnie Ears! How Could This Affect Your Trip? Maybe you don’t buy a new pair of ears EVERY trip but enjoy the ones you’ve had for a while instead? They are fashion accessories that NEVER go out of style, in our opinion! Or, if you want to stretch your creativity a bit, you can try your hand at making your own or you can order some from Etsy! We do want to mention that the designer ears, such as the Loungefly ears, have NOT increased in price. This change has only seemed to affect the standard ears, like the brand-new Belle of the Ball ears. Belle of the Ball Minnie Ears Explore the NEW Belle of the Ball Bronze color trend collection here! Disney Dining Plan The cost to purchase the Disney Dining Plan has seen its own increase from 2019 to 2020. Disney Dining Plan Shirt The nightly cost on the Quick Service Dining Plan will increase from $52.50 to $55 per adult and from $23.78 to $26 per child ages 3-9. The Standard Dining Plan will increase from $75.49 to $78.01 per adult and from $27.98 to $30.51 per child. And, the Deluxe Dining Plan will see a price jump from $116.25 to $119 per adult and from $43.49 to $47.50 per child. Mickey Waffle with Strawberry Toppings That’s roughly up $3 a day per person and, if you tightly budgeted your trip, this could potentially throw you into the red. Learn all about the Disney Dining Plan here! How Could This Affect Your Trip? If you choose to purchase the Disney Dining Plan, be sure to maximize your plan by ordering higher-priced snacks and meals. Epic Eats Funnel Cake A $3.50 bottle of water will set you back the same one same snack credit as an $8.49 loaded cookies and cream funnel cake, so use those credits wisely to maximize value! Want to get the biggest bang for your buck on the Dining Plan? Check out THESE snacks! Annual Pass and Ticket Prices Note that a ticket price hike hasn’t happened just yet for 2020, but historically in the new year, we see ticket and Annual Pass prices go up. Ticket Pricing Hollywood Studios March 2019 Last year, tickets saw an increase in price in March. How much the price went up varied wildly depending on the number of days a ticket was purchased for as well as the time of year. But the major price hike we saw last year was in June for Annual Passes. Most standard passes increased by about $200 dollars, and many Florida Resident Passes increased as well! This was a MASSIVE hike compared to past years, so fingers crossed we don’t see the same this year! Learn more about last year’s Annual Pass price hike here! How Could This Affect Your Trip? Keep in mind that price increases could happen at any time, so if a trip to Disney world is in your future, the early bird gets the less expensive worm, if you catch our drift. Book earlier and you’ll catch ticket prices where they are currently, leaving you to not worry if a price increase happens down the road (for this trip, at least!) While most of the price changes we shared are small, they do add up over the course of a vacation. Thankfully, we have plenty of resources to help you with your planning, like our DFB video on The BEST Disney World Budget Breakfasts. Be sure to check it out below! Downtown Disney’s Uva Bar and Cafe That’s because our friends at Uva Bar and Cafe have just shared with us the details of their newest burger of the month! Mark your calendars as January 2020’s beefy centerfold is the “Pulled Pork Burger”. Uva describes this beefy delight as stacked with juicy pulled pork, chipotle honey BBQ sauce, spiced aioli, coleslaw, crispy onion straws, and pickles. It’s also served with sweet potato fries! ©Disney Pulled Pork Burger at Uva Bar You can pick up Uva Bar’s Pulled Pork Burger all month long for $20. 22. If you are planning on visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland or Walt Disney World Resorts, you’ll encounter plenty of characters from around the galaxy—from members of the First Order and the Resistance, to cosmic creatures and of course, droids! On your next transport to Batuu in Disneyland park, you may see a familiar sidekick gliding around: R2-D2! A resourceful astromech droid, R2-D2 has shown great bravery in rescuing his masters and their friends from many perils. A skilled starship mechanic and fighter pilot’s assistant, he formed an unlikely but enduring friendship with the fussy protocol droid C-3PO. If you want to bring a droid companion home with you, head to Droid Depot and build your own! Choose from either an R-series or BB-series as droid parts come and go on conveyor belts. Then, place your finished droid in an activation station to bring them to life. Droids can be further customized with personality-affiliation chips, color panels and other accessories. Watch as your droid interacts with other astromech droids, as well as with certain elements throughout Black Spire Outpost. Droid Depot offers advance reservations up to 60 days in advance and are available via the Disneyland Resort website or the Disneyland app. Afterwards, take time to explore the epic land where you can sample galactic food and beverages, enter an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard another attraction in the land, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. The newest attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, launches at Disneyland park on Jan. 17 after opening Dec. 5, 2019 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. You’ll climb aboard a full-size transport shuttle before being captured by a Star Destroyer and find yourself in the middle of a climactic battle between the dark side of the First Order and the light side of the Resistance. The harrowing adventure blurs the lines between fantasy and reality on a scale never seen before in a Disney attraction. View the full article
  23. Greetings from the future! ©Disney Concept Art of New Tomorrowland Entrance If there’s one thing that the world of tomorrow has down, it’s cool murals! We’re keeping an eye on progress on the overhaul to the Tomorrowland entrance in Disneyland and we spotted a BIG sign of progress today. One of the murals that’s set to flank the interior side of the entrance is complete and it is oh, so cool. We spotted the new mural just inside the Tomorrowland entrance. Can yah see it peeking through the trees? It makes the walk into Tomorrowland have a LOT more chrome to it which definitely adds to the futuristic feel. New Mural It’s located right on the outside of the Star Tours building and it looks just like the concept art for this area. Check out that intricate geometric design and the metallic quality to it. Too cool! New Mural The entrance overhaul should include a similar mural on the other side of the path, a widened walkway, some more “Space Age” spires, and colorful planters too! We’re pumped to see the finished product especially because it looks super sleek in the concept art. We’ll keep you updated with any new progress on the entranceway of tomorrow (Get it, because it’s the future entrance?)! Click here to read all about the new Tomorrowland entrance!
