Oga’s Cantina inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the liveliest places you’re likely to find at a Disney park. The watering hole on Batuu features a spirited soundtrack provided by DJ R-3X, pulsing lights, and more types of colorful and flavorful drinks than you could shake a gaffi stick at. The cantina became an instant favorite when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at both Disneyland park in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Beyond sipping on a delicious Carbon Freeze or munching on some Batuu Bits, what makes Oga’s Cantina a “must-do” experience is how Disney Cast Members bring the place to life for guests. Whether it’s singing songs or other special interactions – with one another and their guests – they go above and beyond each day to help you feel like you’re on your own Star Wars adventure. “We really want our guests to feel like they are truly immersed in the world of Star Wars, and our cast members are critical to making that immersion happen,” says Sean Marshall, project manager for operations training at Walt Disney World. Take a look at this video for a peek inside Oga’s Cantina and see how Disney cast members make each visit special. Because Oga’s Cantina is such a popular spot on Batuu, it’s a good idea to make a reservation ahead of time. Click here for Disneyland park, and here for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. After that, you can start thinking about whether a Blue Bantha or a Jabba Juice is more your speed – or maybe both! View the full article

The Epcot Transformation is truly in full swing! Regal Eagle Sign We are SO excited for everything coming to Epcot in the next few years! From eating in Space 220, to riding along with our favorite little chef on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, there’s a lot to look forward to in Epcot this year. One opening that we are oh-so-close to is Regal Eagle Smokehouse, an upcoming BBQ joint that’ll be opening in the America Pavilion. Today we checked in to see the latest progress on how the upcoming restaurant is coming along. While originally slated for a December 2019 grand opening, construction of Regal Eagle is still ongoing! We are eagerly awaiting the opening of this BBQ-joint which, according to Disney, “takes its name from Sam Eagle” – our fave patriotic Muppet will even be on-hand to host “a centennial cook-off”! WE CAN’T WAIT! Regal Eagle Construction While we saw the opening of the outdoor seating area and patio for the restaurant, the walls around the restaurant itself are still up, with a few things being worked on. It looks like progress is being made on the roof of the building, which is what we spotted construction workers working on today! Regal Eagle Construction Although Disney hasn’t released an updated opening date, construction is definitely progressing, so we have our fingers crossed that we delicious BBQ (and Sam the Eagle) are in our very near futures! Happy Friday! Are you only a few days away from being in Disney World? Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks at the Magic Kingdom Guests in Disney World next week are going to be able to do a lot (after all, it is Disney!) but there are some things you WON’T be able to do between January 6th and January 12th. Let’s take a look at which Disney World attractions are closed next week in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom! Refurbishments in Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Railroad If you’ve been keeping up with our weekly refurb updates, then it will come as no surprise that the Walt Disney World Railroad is not currently operating due to construction on TRON Lightcycle Run. We haven’t heard when we’ll be touring the Magic Kingdom by rail again, but we know that TRON construction is set to wrap up in 2021. Hopefully, we’ll be back on the railroad before then. Disney World Railroad In the meantime, you can at least go see one of the historic locomotives of the train as it sits in residence at Main Street Station. Don’t forget to grab a ‘grammable pic! Click here to check out what we know about TRON Lightcycle Run! Splash Mountain It’s January and that means that the seasonal closure of water rides is upon us! So, guests visiting the Magic Kingdom won’t be able to outsmart Bre’r Fox alongside Bre’r Rabbit. Splash Mountain is closing on Monday! Splash Mountain Now, this closure is routine so we see it each year. Splash Mountain will be getting some fine-tuning and a few touch-ups while it’s closed. We won’t have to miss this ride for too long though! The briar patch antics are set to start back up on February 28. Click here to read more about the seasonal Splash closure! Refurbishments in Epcot Impressions de France We’re very close to the reopening of Impressions de France in the France Pavilion in Epcot! The show will reopen on January 17th and will feature the new Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along. The new show will play in rotation with Impressions. Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along ©Disney Want a sneak peek of the Beauty and the Beast Sing-along? Click here! Canada Circle-Vision Theater Over in the World Showcase’s Canada, we’re equally close to the reopening of the Canada Circle-Vision Theater, which will be debuting the new film Canada Far & Wide on January 17th too! Canada Pavilion Click here to learn more about Canada Far & Wide? Refurbishments in Animal Kingdom Kali River Rapids And there’s another water ride that’s starting its seasonal closure this week. Over in Animal Kingdom, you won’t be getting soaked on Kali River Rapids as it closes for its routine winter maintenance. Kali River Rapids The attraction will be closed from January 6th through March 21st, so no river adventures in the near future! Click here to learn more about the Kali River Rapids closure! Primeval Whirl We found out a while ago that Primeval Whirl in Dinoland U.S.A. would be moving to seasonal operation. Sure enough, it opened in late November for the busy holiday season but according to the Disney World website, it looks like it should be closing again this Sunday, so there will likely be no Primeval Whirl next week. Primeval Whirl We’re not sure when we’ll see Primeval Whirl open again; our guess would be the next busy season so we’ll definitely keep an eye on it come summertime. Click here to learn more about the Kali River Rapids closure! And, with no refurbishments in Hollywood Studios, that’s all the closures in Disney World this week! We’ll let you know if anything changes but for now, that’s all! Wondering about the changes coming to Disney World this year? Check out our video! Which attraction are you the most bummed to miss? Over the next few years, you will see some major changes coming to Disney World in preparation for the resort’s 50th Anniversary in 2021. In anticipation of these new experiences, there may be a few changes you want to make if you are planning on visiting in 2020. Cinderella Castle Note that you may not be able to make these changes juuuust quite yet. As of this writing, reservations are not available for many of next year’s new attractions and restaurants (but check back with DFB often — you know we’ll let you know as soon as they do!). With that said, here are a few things you will want to consider changing when the time comes! Change Your Expectations This is a big one, guys. With all the exciting changes coming to Disney World, unfortunately, that means the evil necessity of construction — lots of construction. TRON Coaster Construction This will be most obvious in the front half of Epcot, which is perhaps experiencing the MOST amount of change over the next couple of years. Epcot will be getting an almost complete redesign of Future World as well as new restaurants, attractions, and more! Epcot Entrance Area Construction Beyond that, we have spotted construction around the entrance to Magic Kingdom as well as back in Tomorrowland, where the TRON Lightcycle Run coaster is rising up. In the France Pavilion of World Showcase, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure nears completion as well as the new Creperie, and soon we should expect the UK Pavilion to begin work on the new Mary Poppins attraction! Construction Walls Everywhere! Most of Disney World, including the vast majority of Epcot, is still very much operational and accessible during construction — just be prepared to see lots of those lovely construction walls! Yes, it can be a bummer to see picturesque Disney World under construction, but it really shouldn’t affect your experience if you don’t let it. Most rides and dining options are just as open as ever and more new spots will begin to open as the year unfolds! So hang in there, walk past the construction, and continue to enjoy your day (you ARE in Disney World, after all!) Check out our ultimate list of ALL the attractions opening in 2020! Change How Much Time You Plan on Spending in Disney Springs If you haven’t spent much time in Disney Springs in the last few years, you’ll have plenty of reasons to do so in 2020! Beyond the incredible restaurants and shopping, there’s a really exciting new entertainment offering from Cirque du Soleil opening soon! The iconic white tent at Disney Springs It was announced at D23 this past August that a NEW Cirque du Soleil show would replace long-time favorite La Nouba, which closed at the end of 2017. This new show will be named Drawn to Life and will be inspired by Disney animation. Previews for the show begin on March 20, 2020 with an official opening on April 17, 2020! Tickets are on sale NOW! Learn more about Drawn to Life HERE! And, of course, Disney Springs is adding even more restaurants to its lineup. In 2020 we’ll see the opening of a second Ample Hills Creamery location, as well as the opening of Beatrix, a new healthy restaurant with lots of grab and go options for guests in the Springs! Ample Hills Creamery Construction — Coming Soon! VERY soon (like, any day now!) City Works Eatery and Pour House will be opening next to the NBA Experience in Disney Springs. City Works Sign This spot will boast 100 draft beers on tap, 8 wines on tap, as well as lots of tasty dining options (hellooo fried cheese!). Check out a look at what you can expect when City Works opens! Change Your Dining Plans and Reservations We aren’t talking about changing your Disney Dining Plan, but rather your actual plan of attack when it comes to picking which restaurants you and your party will want to visit. There’s a few mega exciting additions coming to Disney World’s dining scene this year you’ll definitely want on your radar! Space 220 Space 220 Over in Epcot, Space 220 will be like no other dining experience Disney World has to offer. With its unique entrance experience that will rocket you 220 miles above Earth, an extensive wine list, and a lounge, this will be the must-visit restaurant next year. Space 220 Concept Art ©Disney Reservations and a menu are still not available despite news that Space 220 is expected to open in early 2020. As always, if you can’t get a reservation, keep checking back because people’s plans often change AND with a lounge coming, there may be an opportunity to grab a quick bite! Space 220 Concept Art ©Disney We’ll keep you posted as soon as we learn that reservations are open! See more of what is coming to Space 220 here! Rodeo Roundup BBQ Another highly anticipated restaurant set to open in late 2020 is Roundup Rodeo BBQ. It’s been a while since this location was first announced, yet little is known about this restaurant coming to Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Toy Story Land Restaurant Concept Art ©Disney Seeing as this is a much-needed addition to Hollywood Studio’s relatively small dining scene, we can imagine reservations will be tough to come by for this restaurant as well. Click here to see what we know so far about Roundup Rodeo BBQ! Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Crafts, Drafts, and Barbeque And if you find yourself in World Showcase over in Epcot, the newest dining location coming to the America Pavilion sounds promising! Regal Eagle was set to open December 2019, but is still showing signs of final construction. This spot is a quick-service location, so it should be relatively easy to try out if you plan to! Regal Eagle ©Disney You can grab craft beers, barbeque, and handcrafted burgers (some served on garlic toast!) at this location and chill out on the extensive planned patio! Learn more about what grub you can chow down on at Regal Eagle HERE! Change your FastPass+ plans Disney World is about to experience a bit of an attraction ‘boom’ over the next few years and we can’t complain! The opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was just the beginning! This year, of course, saw the opening of two mega-watt E-ticket attractions: Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Rise of the Resistance. ©Disney Keep in mind that Smuggler’s Run and Rise of the Resistance, still do not offer FastPass+ reservations. As of its opening day, Rise of the Resistance has relied on a virtual queue to assist guests in determining what time they will get to ride (that is IF they manage to get a boarding group to ride!). Rise of the Resistance 2020 looks like it will be another hit year when it comes to new attractions. And if you have little ones in your party, you will definitely want to consider changing your FastPass+ plans when the time comes for 2 new attractions opening in 2020! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is set to open on March 4, 2020 at Hollywood Studios. Moving into the former home of the Great Movie Ride (RIP!), this attraction is the first Disney parks ride to actually star Mickey Mouse himself. Facade Concept Art ©Disney Guests will get to take a trip through an all-new Mickey Mouse cartoon! No word yet on whether or not FastPass+ will be available or how it will factor into Hollywood Studio’s Tiered FastPass System, but if it is you’ll want to hop on those ASAP! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Concept Art ©Disney We’ll be ready to ride on opening day, so check back for our full review of this new attraction in March! Take a closer look inside Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Another fun ride for the whole family is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, set to open in summer 2020 in the France Pavilion in Epcot. This ‘trackless’ dark ride originally opened in Disneyland Paris and we can’t wait for it to arrive in Florida! Remy’s Ride Vehicle Click here to see more about the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure! While there are plenty of new experiences to look forward to, there are also some refurbishments and downtimes to be aware of next year as well. If you are a fan of Spaceship Earth like we are, you will need to adjust your Epcot plans sometime in the future! Our “Grand and miraculous spaceship” will be closing for a chunk of time sometime in the future. Unfortunately, after the D23 announcement that it would be getting a major renovation, no details about when or how long of a renovation were revealed! We will all have to keep waiting to see when this iconic attraction closes its doors for a while (please keep Rome burning!). Check out all we know about the pending Spaceship Earth Refurbishments! Also note that the Walt Disney World Railroad continues to remain closed during construction of the new Tron attraction, which is slated to open in 2021. Tron Construction See all the attractions opening this year HERE! Change Your Hotel Reservation! If you REALLY want to make a major change to your trip next year, consider being among the first guests to stay at one of Disney World’s newest resorts. Riviera Resort Entrance Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney’s Riviera Resort is the newest Disney Resort, opening just a few weeks back on December 16th. Sitting along the Skyliner route, this new DVC resort features a grand European design with modern amenities, not to mention amazing FOOD! Riviera Resort The resort has the delightful Le Petit Cafe that serves up pastries and coffee in the morning and wine and desserts in the evening. There’s also Primo Piatto, the resort’s quick-service location, and Bar Riva, their fantastic pool bar (which serves up an epic Monte Cristo!). Primo Piatto The resort’s flagship rooftop restaurant, Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, has an incredible character breakfast starring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their artistic finest. Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast a la Art Characters And a knocked-our-socks-off signature dinner featuring handmade pasta, thoughtfully prepared entrees, and phenomenal service. Bucatini Handmade Pasta Seriously, this meal was so good, we can not wait to go back! This resort really blew us away with how beautiful and well thought out it was. Prepare to drool when you check out our dinner review of Topolino’s Terrace! Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs Resort If you want to shake up your plans but still looking for value, the new Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs might fit the bill! This moderate new hotel tower opened this past summer, and features a deluxe feel for the price of a moderate resort. Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs The resort had an adjoining convention center, making it incredibly convenient for guests traveling for business as well. Plus, the new tower offers great dining as well! Toledo For those looking for an adult drink, they offer an espresso and gin tonic bar, Barcelona Lounge, as well as the rooftop lounge, the Dahlia Lounge. Toledo — Tapas, Steaks, and Seafood is their main restaurant, featuring Spanish inspired fare, and we greatly enjoyed our meal here (umm…savory churros, guys!). Check out our dinner review of Toledo HERE! Whether you want to stay in the newest resorts, or you’re simply looking for new places to resort hop to, it seems there’s always something new to check out at Disney World. Change How You Get Around Property! Disney continues to add and improve complimentary transportation options for their guests. If you’re visiting in 2020, be sure to check out the new Skyliner transportation system. Disney’s Skyliner We’ve also spotted a ton of newly decked-out buses around Disney World! Many of these buses have really fun character wraps, USB charging ports, upgraded interiors, and even free wi-fi! These wraps and additions make cruise round Disney World by bus even more enjoyable. Check out a look inside these new buses here! PHEW! There are a lot of developments in the works for 2020. We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of Chef Hung Huynh’s new Downtown Disney spot Asian Street Eats since we heard it would be opening soon! Asian Street Eats And now the wait is finally over! Well, almost! We’ve got our order in, and we’re just waiting for our pager to go off! Fans of a certain competitive cooking show on Bravo may remember Chef Huynh — he was the winner of Top Chef season 3! But this isn’t his first brush with Disney fame. Huynh was formerly a chef de cuisine at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs! Click here to see our “First Look” at Asian Street Eats! Asian Street Eats And the new Asian-concept converted food truck is brought to us by Earl Enterprises, which has also given us popular fast-casual places to dine at such as Earl of Sandwich and Chicken Guy! We like the company Asian Street Eats is keepin’ so now it’s time to check out the food! Our order’s up! Asian Street Eats See the menu for Asian Street Eats here! Eats The entrées at Asian Street Eats include a tasty variety of mixed bowls or scallion pancake wraps along with a side offering of yummy potstickers! Prices range from $7.95 to $9.95. First up, we’re diggin’ into the Grilled Chicken Mixed Bowl for $8.95, which comes in a handy-dandy take-out container! Grilled Chicken Mixed Bowl This dish features royal purple rice or mixed greens topped with fire-roasted corn, cabbage, cucumbers, pickled carrots, caramelized onions, and your choice of sauce. Grilled Chicken Mixed Bowl We loved this one! First of all, we were glad we came hungry, because this is a nicely-sized portion! All of the ingredients tasted really fresh and each flavor came through in the dish. It’s a great take on the Korean dish Bibimbap, which has a little bit of everything in one dish! Then when you pour your sauce on top and mix everything together, it’s heaven! Grilled Chicken Mixed Bowl And we here at DFB know the secret’s usually in the SAUCE, so we didn’t choose just one…we got all of ’em — that’s just how we roll! Sweet and salty sauces include the Miso Honey and Teriyaki while the Sesame Citrus Soy is more acidic. If you like some heat, try the Spicy Teriyaki, Sriracha Aïoli, or Spicy Avocado. We thought the Sesame Citrus Soy paired especially well with the Grilled Chicken Mixed Bowl, fyi! Asian Street Eat Sauces Next, we’re trying the Braised Beef Short Rib Scallion Pancake Wrap for $9.95. It also comes conveniently wrapped to-go! Braised Beef Short Rib Scallion Pancake Wrap This sandwich is stuffed with cabbage, caramelized onions, pickled carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, hoisin sauce, and sriracha aïoli! Braised Beef Short Rib Scallion Pancake Wrap The flavor is out-of-this-world amazing! It’s a huge wrap filled with giant chunks of tender beef and we love the briny notes from the pickled veggies. It also has a little kick to it from the aioli that already comes on it, but we couldn’t resist pouring some of the Spicy Teriyaki sauce on to it! And it made it even more delicious! Braised Beef Short Rib Scallion Pancake Wrap Unlike the bowls, the wraps do not come with sauces, but do yourself a favor and ask for a side of sauce! (Plus, we weren’t charged for the sauce — not sure if this a thing or not, but sauce it up for free for now.) Luckily, we saved enough room for some Pot Stickers! They have either Chicken or Vegetable Potstickers for $7.95, which are served with Ginger Soy Sauce. Asian Street Eats Pot Stickers We went with the chicken and they were absolutely delicious! You can really taste the freshness of the scallions and ginger. The chicken filling inside was juicy and tender. These would totally make a great snack to grab on-the-go! Asian Street Eats Potstickers And with that, our first visit to Asian Street Eats is in the books! Very, very yummy books! Nosh or Not? Check out Asian Street Eats if: You enjoy to eat fresh, lighter fare but aren’t afraid to chow down! Are looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite A fan of Top Chef — way to go, Chef Huynh! We’re so proud of you! Veer away from Asian Street Eats if: You’re looking for a more leisurely sit-down meal in a restaurant atmosphere Aren’t into Asian-style street food (sorry, that’s all they’re serving up!) Don’t like sauces (but maybe Asian Street Eats can change your mind!) Overall We were extremely satisfied with the freshness and quality of ingredients and thought the portions were a great value for the cost. We’ll be craving Asian Steet Eats going forward — especially the tasty scallion pancake wrap! And with so many sauces to choose from, you wan doctor up a bowl or wrap differently each time! With the start of the New Year, and many people on vacation, it’s a particularly busy time over in Disney World! People Mover On this rather busy day over at the Magic Kingdom, the PeopleMover has experienced a few “technical difficulties” which have caused the attraction to be “temporarily closed.” When we visited the scene, there were various Cast Members and technicians on the scene, as well as firefighters who were packing up to leave. Firefighters Leaving the PeopleMover Currently, the both the PeopleMover and Astro Orbiter are closed down, with various workers appearing to work on the ramp leading up to the ride, which appears to be covered in white fire retardant. Be sure to check out Asian Street Eats by Chef Hung Huynh, a new concept from Earl Enterprises, which just opened in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort! You’ll find this yummy take-out window on the west end of the district. On the menu is a flavorful variety of Asian dishes with plenty of options for the whole family. Grab a mixed bowl and customize it with your choice of either grilled chicken, braised beef short rib, or sautéed tofu. Your bowl can come with either royal purple rice or mixed greens and is topped with fire-roasted corn, cabbage, cucumbers, pickled carrots, caramelized onions, and your choice of sauce. Another customizable dish is the Scallion Pancake Wrap – it comes stuffed with cabbage, caramelized onions, pickled carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, hoisin sauce, and Sriracha aïoli and your choice of the same three meats listed above. The selection of sauces includes miso honey, teriyaki, spicy teriyaki, Sriracha aïoli, sesame citrus soy, and spicy avocado. Other dishes on the menu include pot stickers (either chicken or vegetable) served with ginger soy sauce, as well as kid-sized portions of the mixed bowls, and a selection of Japanese teas and sodas. This is the first concept Chef Hung Huynh has developed for Earl Enterprises, and he will oversee Asian Street Eats as executive chef. You may be familiar with Chef Hung as an award-winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef” and he has been featured in top publications and made many national TV appearances. Asian Street Eats is another delicious example of all there is to taste and explore along the Downtown Disney District! View the full article
