You love Dole Whip, we love Dole Whip — we’re talking about Dole Whip today. Dole Whip Sampler We have a list of all the different Dole Whips you can get in Disney World and are always adding new additions to it when necessary. But sometimes we come across certain snack hacks you need to know about, and this one involves Dole Whip! Over at Storybook Treats in Magic Kingdom, you can get the Aurora Cone made with strawberry Dole Whip, but you can also make Dole Whip floats. So we combined the two! Now, the menu at Storybook Treats offers “vanilla, chocolate, or swirl soft-serve with your choice of assorted Coca-Cola fountain beverages,” but we happen to know that you can go off-menu and order a float with the Dole Whip flavors available here (currently lemon or strawberry) instead of the soft serve or swirl! Storybook Treats We decided to grab our newest snack hack — Strawberry Dole Whip with Orange Fanta Float for $6.49! This treat just screams Fantasyland to us with its colors, and when the flavors start to blend together, it reminds us of fruit punch, which we loved! Strawberry Dole Whip with Orange Fanta Float While Dole Whip floats aren’t new, this flavor combination is to us, and we loved it more than words can express. It’s such a simple creation, but it’s simple and done very well. It’s also dairy-free and plant-based! We LOVED it! If you love fruit flavors and sweet treats, this is definitely worth a try. Plus, if you require dairy free desserts, you can still enjoy this delicious treat! Looking for more recent reviews? Check out our posts below! Check Out More Reviews Here! We recently told you that the fan-favorite nighttime spectacular World of Color ONE would be closing temporarily at Disney California Adventure. World of Color at Disney California Adventure It’s one thing when a ride closes — you’re sad that you missed it, but there are plenty more to fill the time during your trip. But when a nighttime spectacular is not available, there’s not much to replace it, and it can feel like that something special is missing at the end of your day. That’s why we’re so happy to tell you that World of Color ONE will be back much sooner than we were expecting! World of Color ONE is truly a “spectacular” — with water elements, fire, and alll kinds of lighting effects and projections. And with all that comes a lot of tech used in the show. So it’s not a surprise that it needs some downtime and maintenance work from time to time! ©Disney Back in November when Disney announced the temporary closure of this show, it looked like it would be closed for more than a month — from January 8th to February 29th. But today, we learned that the show will be back on January 18th after just a 10-day hiatus! So if you’re headed to Disneyland soon, we hope you’ll still be able to see World of Color! The Disney World Skyliner gondolas are a fan-favorite form of Disney World transportation. Disney Skyliner As we hop around Disney World every day, we love it when our route can include the Skyliner. It’s honestly the BEST ride you can go on at Disney World without a park ticket, right? But we are reminded all the time that at Disney World, safety takes first priority. So have you ever wondered what happens if there is an emergency on the Skyliner? ‘Encanto’ wrap on a Skyliner gondola You can expect the Skyliner to close in the event of inclement weather, which can certainly be inconvenient and mess up your day a little, but is necessary for safety. However, while very rare, we have seen passengers be stuck on the Skyliner for long periods of time occasionally. And if this happened to you, you might feel better to know there are things to help you on board. Emergency Call Button First off, you’ve probably noticed that every Skyliner has an emergency call button that you can use to contact crews on the ground if something is going wrong in your gondola. There’s also an emergency kit under the Skyliner benches on each vehicle. ©Disney Skyliner emergency kit The emergency kits include the following: Cold packs Bathroom bags Water Notepads Whistle Glow stick Cups In October 2019, some guests were stranded on the Skyliner for about three hours and were instructed to use the items in the emergency kit. And in April 2021, two Skyliner gondolas collided, causing a shutdown and guests to be stuck in their vehicles for more than an hour — again. Disney advised them to use the items in the kit. Credit: Olivia Crowe Again, safety is a priority for Disney, and problems that could potentially strand you on the Skyliner are exceedingly rare. But now you know what will be available to you if you encounter the unfortunate circumstance of being stuck up there for a while! Keep following DFB for more Disney World info! Alright Marvel fans, have you ever thought about who inspired the Marvel actors to take on the art of acting? ©Disney | Marvel The question may pop into your mind even more when you’re wandering around Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, but it seems we have an insight into one of these inspirations because one Marvel actor just met her idol on the red carpet! The Golden Globes happened recently, and Brie Larson, most known for playing Captain Marvel, spotted her idol on the red carpet. ©Complex She shared that she saw Jennifer Lopez in Selena and it made her want to act. The best part? She got to meet JLo on the red carpet! Larson was in an interview with Entertainment Tonight as JLo approached. “I can’t, I can’t, I’m gonna cry,” Larson said as she fanned her face. ©Warner Brothers “You mean SO MUCH to me!” she said to Lopez, as the two actors shared a hug. Many of the comments on the video share that since Brie Larson is usually very composed on the red carpet, so to see how much meeting JLo affected her, really shows how much it meant to her. ©Warner Brothers We always love hearing heartwarming stories like this, and we share all the different Disney stories we see, so stay tuned to DFB! A trip to Disney World is supposed to be fun, right?! Crowds in Magic Kingdom It absolutely IS fun (we wouldn’t go every. single. day. if it wasn’t), but we’re not going to lie — when we’re facing crowds, or heat, or our favorite ride shuts down suddenly, it can start to feel a bit stressful. We thought we’d share a few things today that we never want to hear you say in Disney World … we promise your stress levels will decrease if you avoid them! First off, we just made a video about the BIG changes coming to Disney World in 2024, and you can check it out right here to familiarize yourself: Now on to those tips. If you’re saying any of these things in Disney World, you probably needed to plan ahead … so we’re alerting you now to make sure you’re ready to go! “We’ll find somewhere to eat around noon.” Um, YES. There are more than 200 places to eat in Disney World. BUT, there are a couple of problems with this statement. First off, everyone and their Aunt Shirley wants to eat lunch at noon, right? Your best bet for finding short lines, getting hot food, and finding seating is to eat at off-peak times. Have a light breakfast in your hotel room (you can even order groceries to be delivered to your Disney World hotel!), and plan to get lunch as close to your chosen restaurant opening for lunch at possible — most of them open at 11AM. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe OR, have a hearty breakfast in the late morning, and then plan for a late lunch/early dinner between 2 and 5PM — after peak lunch hours and before people start looking for supper. And please don’t forget about Mobile Order! Many quick-service restaurants at Disney World let you order and pay for your meal right within the My Disney Experience app, choosing a window to go to the restaurant and skip the line to pick up your meal. But again — don’t wait until noon to place your order! You may find an hour or more wait before you can go to the restaurant to pick it up. We suggest putting in your mobile order a couple of hours before you (or your toddler!) will be hungry. Mobile Order sign in EPCOT If you need help figuring out this mobile order stuff, we’ve got a guide right here! Disney World Mobile Order Secrets We Learned the Hard Way — Don’t Make Our Mistakes! “Which park has the Harry Potter rides?” It is surprising how much we overhear people looking for Harry Potter World at Disney World in 2024, especially since the first section of the Wizarding World has been open for nearly 14 years now … at Universal Orlando Resort. But there are still many people who, when they hear about something at a theme park in Orlando, automatically assume it is part of Disney World. Hogwarts Castle at Universal Orlando So, we’re trying to help you avoid a lot of disappointment here. You’re going to need to plan a side trip to Universal Orlando if you want to visit the Wizarding World. It’s only about 9 miles down the road, and it really is an awesome experience for Harry Potter fans! But it does require separate tickets to Universal Orlando, and Disney World transportation won’t take you there — so you’ll need to plan ahead! We Solemnly Swear You’re Going to Want These Harry Potter Shirts! “Let’s go get in line for TRON.” Disney World’s newest roller coaster, TRON Lightcycle / Run, is mega-fun. It’s also mega-popular. Now we know you’ve probably been to a theme park or two in your time, and you probably expect that the line for popular roller coasters can be long. But, you’re determined to wait anyway. Except, in this case … you can’t. TRON Lightcycle / Run That’s right. There’s NO regular line you can just jump in to get on TRON. Instead, you have two options: You can join a free virtual queue, which means you would join the “line” on your phone and be able to do other things in the park until it’s your time to ride. Or, you can purchase an “Individual Lightning Lane,” which usually costs $20 per person, and gives you a specific window of time to ride without much of a line. TRON Lightcycle / Run There are benefits and drawbacks to both of these methods. As we said, the virtual queue is FREE But it can be hard to get into. You can try to get a virtual queue at 7AM through the Disney World app (we’ve got a step-by-step guide to joining the virtual queue here), but it can “sell out” within minutes. If you missed it, you can try again at 1PM, but only if you’re inside the Magic Kingdom park at that time. A drawback to the virtual queue is that you don’t really know when your number will be called. When it is called, you usually have one hour to report to the ride, but if you’re in a long queue for another ride or have hard-to-get reservations for a restaurant, this can be difficult! As for the Individual Lightning Lane, you will know in advance when your ride time is and plan accordingly. (You also purchase your Individual Lightning Lane through the app — we’ve got a guide here.) The main drawback here is the extra cost. TRON Lighting Lane It’s up to you which of these methods will work best — and we see many people try for a free virtual queue first, and opt for the Individual Lightning Lane if the virtual queue is sold out. Either way will get you on the ride — which is our goal for you! How TRON Compares to Other Disney World Coasters That’s it — those are 3 things we hope you don’t say on your Disney World trip! We want to hear you say, “Today was SO great!” instead! Keep following DFB for more Disney World planning advice! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Magic Kingdom is a wonderful park, but it can also be a very confusing park. Magic Kingdom There are TONS of different attraction to experience, so much that it’s hard to decide what to do in just one day. However, there’s one rule in Magic Kingdom that EVERYONE forgets (yes, that includes us). So let’s go over it so you’re not surprised during your next vacation! When Magic Kingdom gets ready for their evening fireworks, there’s one section of the park you WON’T be able to get to if you’re not prepared before the show starts. New Year’s Eve Fireworks To protect guests from being in the “fall” zone where firework residue can potentially land, the area behind Cinderella Castle in Fantasyland is closed before fireworks begin, during fireworks, and for a short amount of time after the fireworks show ends. Happily Ever After So what does this mean? Well, if you’re in Fantasyland, you won’t be able to walk underneath the castle to get to the front of the park to watch the fireworks, or vice versa. This means you’ll have to take the long way around (the REALLY long way) to get around the castle. So be prepared to walk all the way to Tomorrowland or Liberty Square to get around to the front of the castle. Happily Ever After This REALLY catches people off guard, and means they don’t allow themselves enough time to get in their preferred place for the fireworks show. However, remember that you can watch the fireworks from behind Cinderella Castle! You won’t be able to see the projections on the castle or on Main Street U.S.A., but it’s a pretty unique view of the show. Remember that this area will be closed off! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news, tips, and tricks! Remember, virtual queues change NEXT WEEK in Disney World! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been under construction to replace the beloved and classic Splash Mountain. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Disney has been working hard to have this attraction up and working soon! The ride is themed to the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog which follows the adventures of Tiana who magically transforms into a frog. The movie takes several exciting twists and turns, and we’re hoping to see the same on the princess’s ride. Disney hasn’t given a specific timeline for the ride’s opening, but we’ve noticed some shifts in language when it’s brought up. The Walt Disney Company is very particular about what words they use in all of their content. The way something is said and/or written can have varying meanings and very specific meanings, so Disney is careful about what they say so they are communicating very precisely what they mean. @Disney When Disney first announced, in 2022, that Splash Mountain would be closing in Disney World and Disneyland, they stated that the new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, would be opening in late 2024. They specifically used the word “late.” The queue is open! But now, in a recent blog post, Disney has removed the word “late” and has simply stated that it’s opening in 2024. It’s very interesting to us (knowing how intentional Disney is with their words) that they have left out this potentially important adjective. Splashdown moat on the ride Since they have changed their verbiage to simply state 2024 makes us curious if there has been a shift in the opening timeline. Could we potentially be seeing this opening earlier? If it’s not late 2024, then we might guess it would be earlier 2024. However, we do know that Fantasy Springs in Tokyo Disney is opening in June of this year, so we find it unlikely that both new attractions would open in the same month. ©Disney Historically, rides that are in both Disneyland and Disney World open years apart from the other. For example, Journey of the Little Mermaid and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway are also two rides that are on both coasts, but were built and opened years apart. Separated openings of rides on both coasts are typically the norm that we see. Even Splash Mountain originally opened 3 years apart at the two locations. But in this case, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is being built simultaneously on both coasts. That is most similar to what we say with Rise of the Resistance on both coasts. Rise of the Resistance opened on both coasts just a few weeks apart — on December 5th, 2019 in Disney World, while Rise of the Resistance opened in Disneyland on January 17th, 2020. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was announced for Disneyland and Magic Kingdom the same way, “late 2024” and now simply “2024.” So could we see them opening simultaneously, or will Disney separate their openings by months — hence only stating the more general year, 2024? Tiana’s construction When looking at Disney’s announcements and news, it’s important to pay close attention to how they’re saying what is being said. There could be subtle meanings behind anything they’re sharing due to their very intentional use of words. We’ll be very interested to see if they make any more announcements about the opening timelines for this new ride, in the two Disney parks. In the meantime, keep following DFB for more Disney news! TBH, we are RUNNING this week to bring you news of all the changes happening at Disney World! Mickey and Minnie are total STARS! We are bringing you all the ins and outs of the re-introduction of the Disney Dining Plan (which lets you bundle a pre-paid package with your hotel stay to cover your meals on your Disney World vacation), checking out changes to the rules for virtual queues, and we’ll be at the parks on January 9th to test the NEW park hopping rules (you can now park hop anytime and not wait until 2PM ). But one thing that ISN’T changing this week is the park pass requirement for annual passholders. While travelers who have bought Disney World tickets that start on a certain date no longer have to make a reservation to tell Disney which park they’re planning to go to each day, annual passholders still have this requirement. Or do they? Disney World Annual Pass Disney World IS giving annual passholders “Good to Go Days,” certain dates when you won’t need a park pass reservation. Since annual passholders are only allowed to be “holding” 3 to 5 park pass reservations at a time, depending on which level of pass you have (you can check out the benefits of each level here), it can be difficult for those who go frequently to make future plans. With “Good to Go” days in the mix, APs may be able to more easily grab and hold onto park pass reservations for future plans. The Good to Go days start on January 10th, and Disney has just shared what you will see when you go to make park pass reservations as an annual passholder on that date. ©Disney The Good to Go Days — when you don’t need a park pass reservation — will be indicated with a green circle. A partial green circle indicates that certain parks are “Good to Go,” but not all of them. As you can see, there are quite a few Good to Go Days coming up in January! We’ll see how many are offered to passholders as we get into the busy spring break and summer seasons later in the year. Oswald and Figment Annual Passholder magnets Of course, Disney World annual passholders are already allowed to enter any park without a reservation after 2PM — with the exception of Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays (you’ll still need a park pass for that!). And keep in mind that any blockout dates you have with your pass will still apply, even if the day is marked a Good to Go day in the calendar. The Disney World Annual Pass Secret That Nobody Talks About And if all of this is confusing to you (believe me, we’re confused by some of it, too!), our BEST suggestion is to reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations to help you plan your vacation. Their services are FREE, and they will help you get it all figured out — we promise! Keep following DFB as we bring you the latest Disney World news! Disney World sees more than its fair share of thunderstorms. A rainy day in EPCOT. But most of the time, we’re accustomed to seeing those thunderstorms during Florida’s rainy season in the summer. But tomorrow, severe weather could impact Disney World … in January. Let’s take a closer look at the forecast. This past weekend, Disney officials shortened the course for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon because of expected lightning in the area on Saturday morning. Now, severe weather predicted for the Orlando area might affect outdoor rides and shows at Disney World on Tuesday. Meteorologists at WESH-TV say that a “considerable threat for strong to severe storms” will move into the area in the late afternoon and evening on Tuesday, bringing a chance for damaging winds and the possibility of a tornado. What happens when a thunderstorm hits Disney World? Well, outdoor attractions always close in the parks when there is a threat of high winds, lightning, or other dangerous conditions. (Here’s a complete list of attractions that close when there’s severe weather.) The Festival of Fantasy parade doesn’t happen when it’s raining — though you do get to see characters in a “rainy day cavalcade” if the weather isn’t too bad. And you may find yourself crowding into a store or quick-service restaurant with lots of other guests. Rainy day at Magic Kingdom If the severe weather impacts Disney World later into the evening, fireworks shows in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT could be canceled. So, here are some tips if you’re planning to go to Disney World on Tuesday! Consider getting there as early as possible. At this point, the forecast is for this weather to move into the area later in the afternoon, so you may want to adjust plans to be there first thing! Prioritize outdoor rides in the morning. Outdoor rides will close if there is any chance of lighting in the area, so if the rides your group really wants to ride are outdoors, you might want to get them out of the way first thing. Bring rain gear! Wear waterproof shoes if you have them, bring a change of clothes for everyone and stash it in a locker at the front of the park (don’t forget SOCKS — it’s miserable walking around in wet socks!), and bring ponchos, rain jackets or even an umbrella if you have room to carry one. (Important tip on that umbrella, though — take it out of your bag and hold it in front of you when you are going through the security line — otherwise the metal detectors will alert and security will need to check your bag, slowing you down.) Magic Kingdom As far as we’re concerned, any day at Disney World is a good one — even a rainy one. Keep in mind that if the weather clears out in the evening, it’s likely you will enjoy less crowded parks because folks will decided to go back home or back to their hotel when (if!) these storms hit. So our suggestion is to pack your patience and stick it out! Keep following DFB or the latest Disney news! The company is trying to get away from single-use plastic and shift towards things we can reuse — and as reusable Starbucks cup collectors, we’re excited to be able to utilize our collection in the drive-thru! 2024 Starbucks Tumbler If you’re ordering your drink at the drive-thru window, let the barista know that you brought your own cup. Once you get to the window, the barista will take your cup without the lid and fill it with your beverage. Don’t forget to make sure it is CLEAN! Wash your cup first! Mobile ordering is just as simple. When you’re creating your order, click the “Customization” button under the beverage you would like select “Personal Cup” in the menu, and then proceed with your order as you normally would. Once you go to pick up your order, hand the barista your clean cup without the lid and they will return it to you — filled with your drink of choice! Starbucks Tumbler You’re not only limited to Starbucks cups — customers are allowed to bring any clean, personal cup they own. You can order any sort of beverage in any size to be put in your personal cup — so there is no need to worry when ordering! Gotta’ have our Starbucks When it comes to Starbucks locations in Target, grocery stores, and even Disney Parks, their participation may vary. Be sure to ask them the next time you make a Starbucks run to one of those locations! Starbucks in Disney Springs Bringing your own cup with you to Starbucks also gets you some perks. Every customer who brings in their own, clean cup to use for their beverage will receive $0.10 off their beverage, and Starbucks Rewards members in the U.S. will also earn 25 bonus stars. What is your go-to order? However, every new program comes with concerns — and the baristas at Starbucks are vocal about how they are feeling. In an article by Business Insider, their concerns were voiced. We LOVE Starbucks! Baristas are concerned that the use of personal cups will create chaos in the stores as people pick up their mobile orders and will slow them down in the drive-thru. Not only that, but they feel like they have not been given adequate training before the rollout of this policy. One barista said that the training was a 5-minute module that they did on an iPad, and left them with more questions than answers. Do you think Kevin likes Starbucks? The biggest concern the baristas have is mobile ordering. They are fearful of people using the program to get the discount and bonus stars and then “forgetting” their reusable cups. Along with this, if you choose an in-store pickup for your beverage, you will have to stop a barista from their current task to get your drink filled. One barista even noted that if they get too many mobile orders at once for personal cups, they’ll have to make them in plastic cups first so that they can maintain efficiency — which defeats the purpose of using a personal cup in the first place. As we move further and further into January, we will see all the holiday and Christmas decorations slowly coming down and moving back into storage. Magic Kingdom at Christmas For those of us who LOVE Disney World at Christmas time, this is a sad occasion. It truly marks the end of the merriest time of the year. We recently found out that Disney’s Port Orleans hotel had started taking down its decorations the first week of January, which seemed very early to us (perhaps to make room for Mardi Gras decor). We wondered why it was coming down so early compared to the rest of the locations when a very friendly reader shared some interesting insight! Thanks to our reader, Beth M., we learned a new Disney fun fact! According to Beth, a Wilderness Lodge Cast Member shared how the order of precedence is determined for which holiday decorations are put up first and torn down last! Wilderness Lodge Christmas Tree She learned that “the putting up and taking down of decor depends on that decor’s location in storage. The WL is usually one of the last resorts to be decorated and the first to be taken down because its location in storage is near the back.” We noticed something that could certainly point to this cool fact — The Contemporary Resort’s decorations went up way later than most places and it was one of the first spots to have it all come down this year! Disney’s Contemporary Resort Christmas tree It would be so interesting to walk through the super secret storage location for all the holiday decorations! However, based on the pictures, it reminds us a lot of a Lowe’s store. But still, how cool would it be to wander through here and see every single decoration for around all of Disney World?! ©Disney So if you’ve ever been curious if there is a rhyme or a reason to how places get decorated for the holidays, this could be how it all comes together. There are tons of behind-the-scenes secrets and it can be fun getting a little sneak peek into the action! If you had unlimited funds, do you have a list of things you would do at Disney World? Club 33 Mosaic Logo As most of us DON’T have unlimited funds, it might be something you haven’t really thought about, although we’re guessing we’ve all decided if we win the lottery, we’d donate big bucks to charity to bid on a stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite, right? But what else? Well, if you need some ideas on how to spend all that cash, we’ve got you covered. Private VIP Tour You can book a private VIP tour of any park in Disney World for a mere $450 to $900 per hour, depending on the season. So two hours would put you well over $1,000, right? Well, what if we told you the tour has to be a minimum of 7 hours? But that’s not all because — believe it or not — that price doesn’t even include the cost of your park ticket. Yep, you’d have to pony up the money for that, too. VIP Tour Guides in Magic Kingdom For that price, you get your own personal VIP Tour Guide for you and up to 10 guests who will customize the tour JUST for you. They’ll pick you up in a private vehicle the day of the tour whenever you want and take you to whichever parks you’d like to visit (yes, you could do a tour of ALL four parks). You’ll even get Lightning Lane access for any rides you’d like without having to purchase Genie+. NICE. Everything You NEED to Know About VIP Tours in Disney World A Day at Disney’s Grand Floridian Spa If you’d rather spend a day relaxing while spending all your money, you might want to visit the Grand Floridian’s spa and indulge in the multiple services the spa offers. This is an exclusive dining location that is ONLY accessible to Club 33 members and their guests. Disney World has four club locations (one in each park), and you’ve probably walked by them without even realizing it. Club 33 Location in Animal Kingdom If you think you can just waltz up to a club location and hand over money, it’s not so simple. You have to be invited before you can even join. Yep, it’s THAT exclusive. Here’s what it’s like to dine at a Club 33 Chef’s Table for Two at Victoria & Albert’s Speaking of SUPER fancy dining experiences, you’re probably familiar with Victoria & Albert’s Chef’s Table at the Grand Floridian Resort. Dining there is already pricey, but if you want to go ALL out, you can get a Chef’s Table for Two Experience with prices starting at $425 per person. Add on Wine Pairings for $210 per person or get Zero-Proof pairings for $145 per person. Chef’s Table You’ll get to dine at the exclusive Victoria & Albert’s chef’s table IN the kitchen while interacting with the culinary team that’s preparing your meal. During the three-hour experience (yep, THREE HOURS), the chef will offer up bites and tasting samples, taking into account any dietary preferences you may have. Here are more dining experiences at the Grand Floridian Have a Fairy Tale Wedding We can imagine that ALL of us have DREAMED about getting married at Disney World — and you can, although it will set you back at LEAST $7,000, but that’s ONLY for the venue (and that’s the cheapest one). You’ll also need to add in food and beverage, photography, flowers, entertainment, and more. That can SERIOUSLY add up. ©Disney Of course, you’ll also want to add on a fairy tale dress, right? You’re looking at anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on the dress. A Haunted Mansion-Themed Disney Wedding?? Sign Us Up! If you’re flying Alaska Airlines or United soon, make sure you check your flight itinerary. Orlando International Airport Following the incident with Alaska Airlines over the weekend where a side panel flew off the plane and an emergency landing was made, we have been seeing MAJOR disruptions throughout airports across the country. On Monday, January 8th we are still noticing tons of delays and cancelations. According to an article written by CNN, there were 342 canceled flights from Alaska Airlines and United on January 8th throughout airports across the country. Orlando Airport It is important to note that the Boeing 737-9 MAX airplanes — the one that was involved in the incident on Friday — are big portions of these airlines’ fleets. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) forced all 737-9 MAX aircraft to be grounded after Alaska Airlines’ emergency landing. Alaska Airlines According to an airline tracking service, FlightAware, a total of 141 Alaska Airlines flights have been canceled, and 49 have been delayed. The tracking service also shows that United has 222 cancellations and 138 delays. Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport While we can’t attribute these cancellations to the grounding of that specific plane, it is still important to note the amount of cancellations happening. We’ve noticed a large amount of them happening at Orlando International Airport (MCO), with 16 total. So far, we have seen 11 United cancelations and 4 Alaska Airlines cancelations today. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport In a statement made by Alaska Airlines, they said “…cancellations will continue through the first half of the week, and we encourage guests with travel plans to continue to check their email and alaskaair.com for updates.”. They are unable to return their 737-9 MAX aircraft to service until the FAA provides guidance to them about how to inspect the planes. We have noticed some BIG changes coming to Disney World. Cinderella Castle Honestly, they’re probably not the changes that you think. We’ve already told you about SO many changes coming in 2024, so what else could there be? Let’s narrow it down — it has nothing to do with park pass reservations, the Disney Dining Plan, or the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Honestly, this upcoming change could be something you didn’t expect. The daily entertainment options at the Magic Kingdom are a mainstay. Many people plan their entire day around parades, stage shows, and cavalcades — and we don’t blame them! The entertainment adds a level of ambiance and immersion into your day. Let’s be real — who doesn’t want the opportunity to see characters they love performing? Want to go for a ride? Well, we noticed some BIG changes coming to the live entertainment at Magic Kingdom — and not only one entertainment offering is changing. We noticed that the performance times on the My Disney Experience app have CHANGED beginning on January 16th. Let’s talk about it. Balloons! One of the BIGGEST changes we found was with the Festival of Fantasy parade. Recently, the parade has been happening twice per day — once at 12 PM and once at 3 PM. However, that is going to change. Beginning on January 16th, you will only be able to see the Festival of Fantasy parade ONCE a day — at 3 PM. Festival of Fantasy Parade The Festival of Fantasy parade isn’t the only thing that is changing. We also noted some changes coming to the Adventure Friends Cavalcade. Recently, we could only see this cavalcade once a day at 5:10 PM. On January 16th, we will also be seeing changes to this showtime. If you want to see this Cavalcade, make sure you head to Main Street, USA at 10:30 AM or 11:45 AM! Adventure Friends Cavalcade The entertainment going down Main Street, USA isn’t the only thing that is changing. We also will be seeing the Dapper Dans at different times during the day. These changes aren’t huge, but still very important to note if you’re planning on watching their show! After their normal 9:50 AM showtime, we will be seeing them a little later than usual. They will be back out to perform at 10:55 AM. After this, their showtimes pick back up at 12:15 PM and are followed by a show at 1:05 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:40 PM. These aren’t major changes, but they are still some tweaks that we will see beginning on January 16th. Has anyone given them a dollar yet? Finally, we’ve seen some changes to the times that we can find the Casey’s Corner pianist. Right now, we are able to see him as early as 10:50 AM — but that will also be changing on January 16th. Their first performance time will be changed to 12:05 PM, and we’ll see them out once per hour after that, with their last showtime being 6:15 PM. So, it looks like they will be coming out later and performing later. Casey’s Pianist We’re glad we picked up on all of these changes. In case you missed it, these will be taking place beginning on January 16th. As far as we know, they will continue through February 4th — but once Disney releases the showtimes calendar past that, we’ll let you know if they are here to stay. Let’s take a walk down Main Street, USA! Things at Disney World have been changing A LOT recently — and we’re keeping our eyes out for what they’re changing next. Living in Florida has its advantages! Magic Kingdom Not only do many Floridians live within an easy driving distance of Disney World, but Disney often offers them special deals to keep them coming back. If you live in Florida, keep reading, because we’ve got a BRAND NEW deal for you today! The Disney Thrills Ticket has just been announced. Florida residents can buy a 2-day ticket for $199, or a 3-day ticket for $219. These tickets will go on sale on January 11th, 2024, and they can be used between January 11th and March 15th. Spaceship Earth in EPCOT You can visit any of Disney World’s parks with this discounted ticket deal, and your visits do not have to be on consecutive days — you can use them any two days between January 11th and March 15th. Now, it’s important to note that you WILL need a park pass reservation to use these tickets. That means in addition to having a ticket for admission, you will need to make a reservation through the Disney World app for the days you plan to visit the park. You may have heard that park pass reservation requirements are going away for most ticket holders this week, and that’s true, but they are still in effect for certain tickets, and that will include this special deal. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Disney is allowing some add-ons with this ticket deal, as well: For $40, you can add the park hopper option to these tickets, so that you can visit more than one park in one day. For $35, you can add the Water Park and Sports Option, which will provide admission to one of Disney World’s water parks, as well as golf course play and mini golf play. For $55, you can add BOTH the park hopper and water park/sports options to your ticket. Blizzard Beach Water Park Again, this special Disney World ticket deal is available to Florida residents, and the tickets go on sale on January 11th. Let’s just say 2024 is a BIG year for Disney World. SO MUCH is going on, just in January alone! Spaceship Earth in EPCOT Okay, so first, we’ll be kissing park pass reservations goodbye (well, most of us will, anyway). We’ll soon be park hopping WHENEVER we feel like it. Plus we’ll be able to get the Disney Dining Plan again. But that’s not the only thing that’s going to happen. Something else BIG is going down on January 12th and you’ll want to have your phone handy for it. That’s because January 12th is the first day of the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts — but that’s not the BIGGEST thing happening that day. No, that’s the day that the new Figment Popcorn Bucket will be released out into the wild — and if this release is anything like the first time a Figment Popcorn Bucket was released, it’s going to be PANDEMONIUM. Plus just LOOK AT IT. It’s designed to look like the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT AND it comes with rainbow popcorn. 2024 Figment Popcorn Bucket Okay, so maybe it won’t be QUITE as bad. Disney has learned its lesson after 2022, when the line to get a Figment popcorn bucket was SIX HOURS long! You won’t have to stand in an hours-long line to grab it this time — we think.. Instead, the popcorn bucket is going to be available a lot like some of Disney World’s most popular rides — there will be a virtual queue. Line for Figment Popcorn Bucket in 2022 Although a virtual queue will make it a LITTLE easier to get the new popcorn bucket, it will probably sell out quickly, meaning you’ll need to be fast on your phone to grab it. We don’t have full details of how the virtual queue option will be put in place or what time you’ll be able to try and sign up, but we can guess that EVERYONE will be on their phone at that time. Previous popcorn bucket So the good news is that you won’t have to stand in long lines for the popcorn bucket, but the bad news is that you will have to be staring at your phone and have some fast fingers to get a shot at buying the new one. Then you’ll have to keep staring at your phone to make sure you don’t miss the notification that it’s your time to go buy the popcorn bucket. (Pro tip: Bring a mobile charger along with you that day!) We’ll keep an eye on the situation and get you all the details you need when we have them, and of course we’ll be there trying all the FOOD on the first day of the festival, so stay tuned to DFB for more! If you want to visit Disney World during a less busy time of year, we’ve got something you might want to hear. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom First, there really isn’t an “off” season in Disney World anymore, especially in 2024. Then, the Disney Dining Plan is returning, and Disney is already offering a FREE dining plan deal to those booking a trip during the year. Then there’s the return of all-day park hopping, which might entice some folks back to the parks who haven’t been in a while. A lot of people have also been waiting for Park Pass reservations to go away, and that’s happening for most visitors this year, too. But February, in general, could be a month you’ll want to avoid. We already warned you about one event taking place in February that could impact Disney World crowds. On February 4th, the NFL Pro Bowl is being hosted at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. We can imagine that a lot of people visiting for that might add on a Disney World trip, too. ©NFL Well, ANOTHER February event that doesn’t even HAPPEN in Orlando could also bring bigger crowds to Disney World. Mardi Gras is on February 13th, and in Louisiana, most kids are out of school during that week. According to 97.3 The Dawg radio station, a LOT of those kids’ families are going to be making trips to Disney World. Mardi Gras Celebration at Port Orleans That means the week of February 13th could bring even MORE crowds to Disney World this year. Orlando is just a quick flight from New Orleans and about a 9-hour drive for those who want to road trip it. It makes sense that some families would want to skip out on the chaos of Mardi Gras in Louisiana, but they may be creating crowds in Disney World instead. Let the good times roll! Disney World doesn’t go ALL out for Mardi Gras, although you will usually find a celebration, complete with Mardi Gras floats, at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. Mardi Gras-themed snacks may also pop up around Disney World, too. Now, exactly how MUCH this could impact Disney World crowd levels remains to be seen, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for crowds around that time and report back. Stay tuned to DFB for more. It’s been a VERY busy weekend in Disney World. Marathon Weekend Crowds in 2023 Although the holiday crowds are mostly gone, this weekend is also the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which brings THOUSANDS of runners to the parks and resorts. This is a HUGE event, and it usually impacts everything around Disney World, including traffic and, as of January 7th, the virtual queue system. So this is how the virtual queue works: first, you sign up for it through the My Disney Experience app. You can do this at two points of the day — 7PM and 1PM. You’ll be assigned a group number, which will then be called so you can board the ride. Once your boarding group is called, you have one hour to scan into the ride and enter the attraction. Except that’s changed today. On January 7th, we signed up for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind virtual queue in EPCOT. When our boarding group was called at 11:32AM, the app notified us that we had TWO hours, until 1:32PM to scan into the ride. ©Disney Our best guess is that this is because of the crowds at the park due to the race. We have previously had problems navigating the parks on race days, and we’ve had situations where we had to rush to get to our virtual queue boarding time ON time when we only had an hour to arrive. This seems to be a new thing Disney World is doing to give those with boarding groups extra time when the parks are busy, and traffic may be heavier than normal. Cosmic Rewind It’s not clear if this is a temporary change or how long that two-hour return window will stick around, but we’ll keep our eyes out for additional updates. ©Disney We’ll also look out for any other changes in Disney World — and don’t forget, a TON of BIG changes are coming on January 9th — so stay tuned to DFB for more.
