Watch out! If you’re not prepared, you might make this NEW mistake the next time you visit Magic Kingdom in Disney World. Magic Kingdom We’re not talking about forgetting to Mobile Order your lunch or rope dropping the wrong ride or even skipping the plastic cheese when you get your corn dog nuggets. No, this is a brand-new mistake that we’re seeing TONS of people make in the park, so we’re trying to warn you so that you can avoid the same fate! The NEW Mistake Disney is known for impeccable theming and impressive immersion in its parks, but it seems like they might’ve gone a little too far with the newest ride coming to Frontierland. The problem? People seem to think that the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride is actually a restaurant! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure We’re in Magic Kingdom just about every single day, and we can’t tell you how many times we overhear people talking about the “new restaurant,” wondering what food will be served there, and getting excited about trying the eats once it opens. Only…it’s not a restaurant at all. Construction on the new ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the newest ride coming to Magic Kingdom, taking over the area where Splash Mountain used to be. While the ride is being built, Disney has construction walls up all around the attraction. Those walls are decorated with signs advertising “Tiana’s Foods,” because that’s part of the premise of the ride. However, people don’t seem to realize that Tiana’s “restaurant” is actually just the setting for the ride and not a real place to eat. We can totally see how they’d make that mistake, though! Decor on the construction walls You see, the story behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is that Tiana has built an employee-owned company called Tiana’s Foods, transforming an old salt mine with the help of her mother, Naveen, Louis, and more friends. To celebrate her successful restaurant, she is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans, but she realizes that the party is “missing a key ingredient,” and she needs your help finding it! ©Disney Tiana’s Bayou Adventure concept art During the ride, you join Tiana on an adventure through the bayou, meeting new friends and helping them all get ready for the party. So while the ride does have a lot to do with the restaurant, there isn’t actually a Princess and the Frog-themed restaurant coming to Frontierland…probably. Learn more about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure here! Could a New Tiana’s Restaurant Come to Magic Kingdom? To sum up, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a RIDE, not a restaurant. But COULD a new Princess and the Frog-themed restaurant come to Magic Kingdom anyway? We’re certainly hoping so! Tiana’s Foods in Disney World Tiana’s Palace — a new quick service restaurant — recently opened in New Orleans Square in Disneyland, serving tasty eats like House-filled Beignets, Gulf Shrimp and Grits, Gumbo (House OR the plant-based 7 Greens), and a Beef Po’ Boy Sandwich. Tiana’s Palace Read our full review of Tiana’s Palace here! Disney hasn’t announced any new Tiana-themed restaurants for Magic Kingdom, but we’re still keeping our fingers crossed that one might be announced later on! After all, if the ride is coming to both Disneyland and Disney World, surely the restaurant could, too. Maybe it could take over Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe to be located right next to the ride? House Gumbo Honestly, we would even be happy with just a beignet stand! We already know that the smell of fresh beignets will be pumped into the queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and we can guess that we’ll be craving some of those tasty treats every time we ride. Check out the BEST Disney World restaurants in 2024 here! More about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in 2024. Disney previously announced it would open in “late 2024,” but their more recent language has omitted the “late” phrasing, so we’re wondering if it could open earlier rather than later. Did Disney Quietly Change the Opening Timeline for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss,” and visitors will “join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney The story of the attraction, as Disney shares, picks up during New Orleans’ Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant. (The storyline is set about a year after the movie.) Model of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at the 2022 D23 Expo As we mentioned before, Tiana realizes she’s missing an important ingredient, so guests join Tiana on a search for the ingredient, encountering new and old characters along the way and hearing music from the movie as well as new, original songs. Get ready for a Mardi Gras celebration in Frontierland (in Magic Kingdom) and Critter Country (in Disneyland)! Disney Didn’t Share These Details About Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Ride…But We Will MORE New Stuff Coming to Frontierland Tiana’s Bayou Adventure isn’t the only Frontierland update coming to Magic Kingdom! According to Disney, LOTS of changes are on the horizon, with some happening sooner than others. “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” Expansion Disney has teased a HUGE Magic Kingdom expansion, repeatedly saying that something new is coming “beyond Big Thunder Mountain.” They’ve said that the expansion will be on a similar scale to additions like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Pandora – The World of Avatar, with new attractions, restaurants, and shows. That means LOTS of changes! Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom At the 2022 D23 Expo, Disney executives speculated about possible Coco, Encanto, and Disney villains-themed lands. They tossed around ideas like a Casita attraction based on Encanto: Jennifer Lee said, “What if you could walk into the Madrigals’ casita…What if Mirabel is your guide…What if you could step up to a door and discover your own magical gift?” Potential Coco Area in Magic Kingdom Bruce Vaughn, the Chief Creative Officer for Disney Imagineering, has called these plans the “largest ever” expansion for Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Right at the end of a recent announcement about the new Country Bear Jamboree show, Disney noted, “But hold your horses, we’re not done yet. We have a lot of growth and investment planned for our theme parks in the coming years and look forward to sharing more announcements about Frontierland … so y’all come back now, ya hear?” Is the Magic Kingdom expansion REALLY going to happen? Here’s what we know. Country Bears Jamboree Update On a much smaller scale, another Frontierland attraction is changing, too! Country Bear Jamboree is being completely updated. Country Bear Jamboree The show will close on January 27th, 2024, for refurbishment, and it’ll reopen with the updated show this summer. ©Disney The updates are inspired by the Opry-style shows of Nashville, Tennessee. In fact, Nashville musicians are helping out with the arrangements! One of the songs we know we’ll see is a new version of “Bare Necessities” in a rockabilly style. The new show will include easter eggs throughout that nod to the previous show. Learn more about the Country Bear Jamboree changes here! So who else HAS to go to Starbucks when they visit Disney World? We love our Starbucks! First, that early morning rope drop time in Disney World DEMANDS coffee, so WE GET IT. We don’t care that there’s often a long line, we’re going to order our latte and get caffeinated for the day. Disney World’s Starbucks locations do have some of the same perks as your hometown Starbucks, too — like being able to use the app to earn rewards. However, there’s ONE Starbucks perk that DOESN’T work in Disney World. Starbucks has started a huge undertaking to cut its carbon footprint, as well as cut down the amount of water and waste sent to landfills, in half by 2030. That means the company has continued to encourage customers to bring in reusable cups for their drinks. Customers who do so get a 10-cent discount on their beverage, and in the U.S., Starbucks Rewards members get 25 Bonus Stars. Disposable cup Recently, Starbucks also became the first national coffee retailer to allow reusable cups for drive-through and mobile orders in the U.S. and Canada. However, when it comes to Starbucks locations in Target, grocery stores, etc., participation may vary. We recently visited Connections Cafe, the Starbucks location in EPCOT, and learned that you will NOT be able to use a reusable cup there. Starbucks Castle Tumbler This is likely true for all Disney World theme park Starbucks locations (including Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom, Trolley Car Café in Hollywood Studios, and Creature Comforts in Animal Kingdom). Main Street Bakery However, you CAN use a reusable cup at the Disney Springs Starbucks locations, where you can also use Starbucks’ mobile order (which isn’t available in the parks). When you use the app, you’ll see Personal Cup as an option — if you use your own cup, you’ll also get the discount there. ©Starbucks We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. You’ve been counting down to this day ever since you bought your ticket and now, it’s finally here! In all of your excitement getting ready for Disney World’s After Hours events there’s one thing that we want to caution you on. Mickey We’ve figured out that Disney After Hours events are a hidden gem that not many people actually take advantage of on their vacations. If the heat, sweat, exhaustion, and general crowds just really aren’t your idea of the perfect way to spend your day in the Disney World parks, these events were MADE for you. But watch out — there could be just one last sneaky thing that will try to ruin your experience. Disney World is offering select nights for Disney After Hours Events in several of its theme parks. We recently enjoyed an almost-empty Disney’s Hollywood Studios at one of these events, which included rides and attractions throughout the park, complimentary snacks like popcorn and Mickey-shaped ice cream, and several rare characters. Mickey-shaped anything is just better While these events see a significant decrease in crowds and thus much lower wait times for the rides due to their limited capacity, they’re not without their challenges… and we were certainly met with one you’d least expect. Uh oh! We’re here to warn you about the not-so-obvious objection to your ultimate night of fun during these events. We very quickly learned upon arriving that choosing to do one of these events during the “winter” months (yes, even in Florida), the temperature can turn frigidly cold. It may not be the first concern on your mind, but trust us — As soon as the sun sets for the evening, you’ll be wishing that you’d brought some warmer clothes to keep you cozy through the night. Tiana knew better! Don’t get us wrong, we still had a BLAST at this event, but it would have been nice to have thought ahead and brought an extra pair of gloves, a thicker jacket or coat, and maybe even some headwear or a scarf for good measure. We just discovered that a popular Disney Springs store is going through a major CHANGE, so of course we had to go and find out all the details! Disney Springs Disney Springs is the shopping and dining center located in Disney World. You don’t need a ticket to go inside, and some of the best food in all of Disney World can be found at the restaurants there. There are also some super fun stores and shops, where you can get both Disney and non-Disney merchandise! Now, one of those stores is going through a big renovation. Basin is located in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs (near Earl of Sandwich), and it sells beauty products like bath bombs, soap, and hair care. When we stopped by the store today, a Cast Member was outside the building telling guests that this location is temporarily CLOSED. Basin The main location is closed right now as it’s being remodeled! There were signs on the door stating that “something new is bubbling up at Basin.” The Cast Member there estimated that this main location will be closed for about three weeks. Something new is coming! But if you want to shop Basin merchandise the next time you’re at Disney Springs, don’t worry! There’s a temporary, pop-up location nearby, next to The Art of Disney. There’s a pop-up location nearby It’s located inside the building that used to house Disney’s Wonderful World of Memories, and there’s a sign outside letting you know it’s there. Temporary location Disney Springs stores have been going through lots of changes recently, with many shutting down and new ones taking their place. Alex and Ani location that’s now closed Plus two NEW restaurants have popped up in the Springs within the last few months, including EET by Maneet Chauhan and Summer House on the Lake. To find out, look for the Disney Dining Plan symbol on restaurant and snack kiosk menus. It’ll look like this: Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit Logo Not all snacks are created equal, and you can definitely WASTE those snack credits if you’re not careful! We’ve already taken a look at some of the WORST ways to use a snack credit, but now it’s time to look at 13 BELOVED snacks that you can get with that credit! Okay, Starbucks lovers, we’ve got some news for you. If you want to get your favorite Starbucks drink in Disney World at ANY of the Starbucks locations THROUGHOUT the resort, you can get the largest size, the Trenta, with a snack credit. So grab a BIG Caramel Macchiato and enjoy! Get that BIG Starbucks drink The most classic and iconic of Disney snacks might just be the DOLE Whip, and if you find yourself craving one over in Magic Kingdom, head on over to Aloha Isle and use a snack credit for it. Yep, Dole Whips are included. (Not all floats are included, but most DOLE Whips are!) We don’t know about y’all, but we have to get Dole Whip at least ONCE every Disney trip. A CLASSIC We’re happy to report that a LOT of the goodies in Main Street Confectionery in Magic Kingdom can be bought with snack credits. But if you’re looking for one of the most delicious treats, get the Cookie Pie with M&M’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Candies at Main Street Confectionery. It’s a cookie with loads of peanut buttery goodness. Peanut Butter Cookie Pie How much have we talked about the Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich at Karamel Küche in EPCOT? A lot, we figure, but for good reason. It’s one of our absolute favorite things to get there. We’ve got some good news, you can grab this cookie sandwich with a snack credit. YAY! Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Sandwich Cookie One of our favorite snacks to grab at EPCOT’s Connections Cafe & Eatery is the Liege Waffle. Various versions of the waffle are released throughout the year, and sometimes you even get it with toppings, but it’s a solid delicious not-too-sugary treat. Remy Liege Waffle If you love that Blue Milk from The Milk Stand over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios, we’ve got great news. You can order it with a snack credit. That goes for the Green Milk, too (although we prefer the Blue, if you’re asking). May the Force — and Blue Milk — Be With You. Blue Milk Another special Star Wars treat you can grab in Hollywood Studios with a snack credit is the Wookiee Cookie from Backlot Express. This GIGANTIC cookie is made with two oatmeal cookies, sandwiched together with a fluffy whoopie-pie cream filling. If the Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies are your thing, YOU NEED THIS COOKIE IN YOUR LIFE. Wookiee Cookie While you’re in Hollywood Studios and you’re looking for the PERFECT sweet snack, grab the Funnel Cake with Cookies ‘n’ Cream and Soft-Serve Vanilla Ice Cream from Epic Eats for one snack credit. This thing is pretty huge and you could probably even share it with a friend. Epic Eats Funnel Cake We’re not quite done with Hollywood Studios just yet (seriously, this park is BANGING with the snacks). You can get the Mint Chocolate Chip Cheesecake at ABC Commissary with a snack credit. It’s minty. It’s chocolatey. If those are some of your favorite flavors, grab it! ©Disney Over at Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Animal Kingdom, you can get boozy Dole Whips, and we were pretty thrilled when we found out that the Dole Whip Pineapple Hard Cider Float counts as a snack credit! It’s Dole Whip Pineapple served with ACE Pineapple Craft Cider. This a light and refreshing drink — also, we love how it foams up! Dole Whip Pineapple Hard Cider Float Those snack credits are good at Satu’li Canteen, too. So if you want to enjoy the Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse, all it will cost you is one Dining Plan snack credit. This dessert is pretty and tastes AMAZING. Dessert or a work of art? If you find yourself hanging around the Boardwalk, pop into Boardwalk Deli and spend a snack credit on the Mickey Brownie. Now we’re picky about our brownies, but this one is almost always a winner for us. Plus it often gets a seasonal makeover. 2024 Mickey Brownie Are you staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, or even just visiting? The infamous Campfire Cupcake is available as a snack credit there at Roaring Fork. It’s a chocolate cupcake topped with marshmallow frosting and it IS as good as it sounds. This one has been around for a while and has been a longtime favorite with just about everyone. Campfire Cupcake at Roaring Fork So if you plan on getting the Disney Dining Plan, make a note of these snacks that we think are NOT to be missed in Disney World. Stay tuned to DFB for more. The entertainment industry had a pretty chaotic 2023. ©ABC First, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike for 148 days. During that strike, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) also went on strike — that strike lasted 118 days. The strikes upended production schedules for both movies and TV. Now, the industry is returning to normal, but that doesn’t mean that TV shows aren’t getting canceled, and now, ABC has canceled a long-running TV series. According to Variety, the ABC series The Good Doctor will end with its seventh season. The show premiered on ABC in 2017 and was ranked as one of the TOP entertainment series in its Monday 10PM time slot in 2023 for adults ages 18-49. However, ABC has announced that the seventh and final season will debut on February 20th. ©ABC The show stars Freddie Highmore, who portrays a young autistic surgeon from a small town (where he had a troubled past) who has relocated to San Jose, CA, to work for a prestigious hospital there. “Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of my life,” Highmore said. “I will always be grateful to David, Liz, and Erin as well as the hugely talented – and lovely – cast, writers, and crew who made this show possible. Caring deeply is what got us here. Thank you to Sony and ABC, and to everyone who has watched along at home. With love from Vancouver… tequila, stat!” ©ABC The Good Doctor cast also includes Chuku Modu, Richard Schiff, Will Yun Lee, Fiona Gubelmann, Christina Chang, Paige Spara, Bria Samoné Henderson, and Noah Galvin. The series’ showrunners are David Shore and Liz Friedman. “Thanks to David Shore and Liz Friedman’s creative direction and anchored by Freddie Highmore’s performance, The Good Doctor has captivated audiences, who have deeply connected with Dr. Shaun Murphy and the staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital,” said Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group. “As we prepare to finish this beloved story, words cannot express our gratitude for the incredible cast, crew and our partners at Sony and ABC Signature for the lasting impact they’ve made.” ©ABC This is one of several shows that have been canceled at ABC recently. Other shows the network has recently given the axe to include The Wonder Years and Station 19. Disney has also canceled a popular Disney Channel show, as well as several Disney+ series. We’ll keep an eye out for more TV show cancellations, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Whew! If you were one of the hopeful Disneyland fans trying to get a Magic Key Pass over the past few days, we hope you’re doing okay — the situation has been quite a rollercoaster ride for many customers. Disneyland Resort But before we get ahead of ourselves, we should probably do a little explaining. Disneyland Resort’s Annual Pass program is called Magic Key. Similar to the system in Disney World, there are four levels of Passes with varying perks and blackout dates. For a good portion of 2023, Disneyland Resort paused new sales of its Magic Key Passes but then reopened the virtual queue and started offering all four Magic Key Passes on January 10th, 2024. Now, we have an update to share. On January 10th, all four Magic Key Passes were available, including: Inspire Key: $1,649 Believe Key: $1,249 Enchant Key: $849 Imagine Key: $499 ©Disney The virtual queue process to purchase a Pass got off to a rocky (and looooong) start, and sales were slated to continue on January 11th. Now, on January 11th, as of around 2PM EST, three of the four Magic Key Passes are marked “Available for Renewal” only, meaning Disney has once again PAUSED new Magic Key Pass sales. ©Disney The Enchant Key, Belive Key, and Inspire Key are all currently marked “Available for Renewal” on the Disneyland website. ©Disney The Imagine Key, which is only available for Southern California residents living in zip codes 90000 to 93599, is still available to purchase. ©Disney We’ll keep our eyes out for additional updates. If you seek thrills when you visit the Disney Parks, you’re in luck — Disney is making one of its most popular attractions even scarier! Cinderella Castle in Tokyo Disneyland Tokyo DisneySea is primed for a big year in 2024 with the completion of its new Fantasy Springs expansion and the introduction of a new festival, but the fun doesn’t stop there. This week, it was also announced that the Japanese Disney Park would also get a massive update to one of its most iconic rides — Tower of Terror! According to Disney, Tokyo DisneySea is making Tower of Terror a lot scarier! The theme park will run two new versions during set dates this year beginning January 9th, 2024 that will include more drops and scarier effects. Guests will then be polled and choose which version sticks until April 7th, 2024. ©Disney The first version of the ride, called “Tower of Terror: Level 13”, will run from January 9th through February 4th and will amp up the scare factor. Beginning February 5th, the next version, “Tower of Terror: Level 13 ‘Shadow of Siriki,'” will run until March 6th. March 7th through April 7th will feature the version that received the most votes. Per Disney, “Voting details will be announced at a later date on the Tokyo Disney Resort official website.” More information about the ride change can be found by clicking here. ©Disney Along with the version in Tokyo, Tower of Terror is a staple at Disney Parks including Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Florida. Disney California used to have Tower of Terror but it was replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! in 2017. Especially compared to its U.S. counterparts, Tokyo’s Tower of Terror is much more mild so we’re excited that they’re trying something new! A new shop coming to Disney World just got an exciting update! Construction on Cake Bake Shop While 2024 is a big year for new offerings coming to Disney World, we’re very intrigued by one in particular — The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers. The table service restaurant was announced all the way back in 2022 and was originally supposed to open last year but has been delayed into 2024. Nevertheless, the restaurant seems to be progressing towards opening, and we just got a major update about its soon-to-be-offered confections! Opening at Disney World’s BoardWalk in what used to be the ESPN Club building, The Cake Bake Shop will be serving up brunch, lunch, and dinner featuring both sweet and savory menus. However, we just learned that most of the baked goods will be made offsite at a commercial bakery in Osceola County, Florida, just one county away from Orlando’s Orange County. The roof is coming along Per GrowthSpotter, the new 31,200-square-foot commercial bakery can be found “within the Trinity Industrial Park just off Poinciana Boulevard. It’s located about a mile south of the Poinciana SunRail station.” This location is the company’s third-largest so far and was purchased even before Rogers closed the deal for the Disney World location. The offsite location is meant to keep up the heavy volume of baked goods produced, while the restaurant’s main objective is to serve savory food. The offsite bakery, according to Rogers, is the best way to quality baked goods at the rate demand requires — we’re talking HUNDREDS of cakes and treats. Cake Bake Shop in Indianapolis Along with meal service, The Cake Bake Shop will also provide an afternoon tea service, a Champagne Bar, a quick-service bake shop, and a retail store. When it comes to the savory menu, previous Cake Bake Shop menus have included Truffle Pommes Frites, Quiche, and Sandwiches. We can’t wait to visit this spot when it opens! YES, you read that correctly, there are days you can get FREE dining in Disney World in 2024. Cinderella Castle The Disney Dining Plan has finally returned to Disney World after nearly 3 years of being gone, and many guests are thrilled at this change. The plan allows you bundle the meals during your Disney vacation with your hotel room, and pre-pay for them. However, it takes a lot of planning to decide if the Dining Plan is right for you and your family because it’s not the best fit for everyone. But if you’re looking for a way to get a FREE Disney Dining Plan in 2024, here’s when it can happen! Disney has brought back a popular deal for Disney+ subscribers that gives you and you entire party a FREE Disney Dining Plan for your entire trip. There are a few catches though! Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort The first is that you have to be a Disney+ subscriber. Not everyone in your whole family has to be, but at least one person needs to be. Additionally, the deal cannot be combined with other discounts that might be available — like current discounts on hotel rooms (you might need to do some calculations to determine if you could actually SAVE money by buying your food and getting a hotel discount rate instead). BoardWalk Inn Now, if this sounds confusing to you, we want to stop right here and recommend that you contact our friends at Small World Vacations. Their travel agents specialize in Disney World vacations, so they know all the ins and outs. They can run the numbers for you to help you decide which discount will be best to get the very best deal, and their services are free to you! Now for the DAYS you can eat for free in Disney World! The deal is available from July 1st to September 30th, 2024. And while your mileage could vary, we have found that as long as the first day of your vacation is September 30th, your whole trip will be eligible for the discount! Now there could be select days, or select days at certain hotels, where the deal is already booked up or otherwise unavailable — again, that’s why we recommend you work with a pro to get this booked. There are times during the summer when the deal could sell out! One important thing to know is that this free dining deal is advertised as being for $.day, 4-night vacation stays. But as is often the case with Disney World promotions, we have found in our searches that you can book longer or shorter stays and still get the Disney Dining Plan free. It’s also important to know though that the type of dining plan you will have access to depends on what hotel you’re staying at. The Quick-Service Disney Dining Plan is available at: The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Disney’s All-Star Music Resort Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Disney’s Pop Century Resort Meanwhile, the Standard Disney Dining Plan (the more expensive plan that includes table service dining) is available at: Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village Disney’s Beach Club Villas Disney’s BoardWalk Villas Disney’s Old Key West Resort Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Yacht Club Resort We’re always here to bring you the latest Disney World news, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news! The flight made a safe emergency landing in Portland, Oregon, with 171 passengers and six crew members on board. ©Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines responded to the incident on January 6th by announcing that it would temporarily suspend all 65 of its Boeing Max-9 aircraft until each place could be inspected. Those inspections were expected to only last a few days. However, NPR reports that Alaska Airlines has canceled all flights through at least Saturday, January 13th. That means anywhere from 110 to 150 flights a day will be canceled while the planes remain grounded. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proceeded to ground all Max 9 planes in the U.S. shortly after the incident. This also affected flights on United, the only other U.S. airline that uses Max 9 aircraft. Orlando Airport On January 11th, the Federal Aviation Administration released a statement on Twitter/X, stating, “This incident should never have happened and it cannot happen again. The FAA formally notified Boeing that it is conducting an investigation.” The National Transportation Safety Board recently stated they have not found the four bolts used to secure the door plug that blew off the plane on Flight 1282, and they are now uncertain as to whether those bolts were missing before the plane took off. The NTSB later ordered Boeing to revise its inspection and repair guidelines after both Alaska and United reported finding loose bolts, as well as other issues, with panel doors on other Max-9 planes they were inspecting, according to CNBC. ©Alaska Airlines The Federal Aviation Administration stated it is now investigating Boeing to determine if “products conformed to its approved design and were in a condition for safe operation in compliance with FAA regulations,” per CNBC. Boeing has stated that it is updating its inspection procedures, while the FAA pledged to let safety decide when the planes could fly again. There is no indication of how long that might take. We’ll keep an eye on the situation and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Meeting characters at Disney World is one of the most FUN activities that visitors can do. Hollywood Studios After Hours Sure, the rides are fun, but character interactions make those Disney World trips just a little more magical! Now, during the day, you can meet the usual characters, like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and more, but if you happen to attend an After Hours event in Disney World, you might run into some RARE characters you wouldn’t see otherwise. Well, we just went to an After Hours event in Hollywood Studios and met a TON of rare characters! In case you’re new to After Hours events, these separate ticketed events allow event guests to enter Disney World’s theme parks AFTER they close to the public. We had a ticket to the Hollywood Studios After Hours event, which started at 9:30PM and lasted until 12:30AM. However, those with tickets for the After Hours event can actually enter the park as early as 7PM. After Hours event in Hollywood Studios Because tickets for these events are limited, you’ll deal with smaller (or nonexistent) crowds and shorter lines. But more importantly, you’ll get to meet Disney characters! Some of these characters are those you can see during the day, like Tiana… Tiana …Mickey… Mickey …and Minnie. Minnie However, you’ll also get to see characters that aren’t usually available during the day with a regular park ticket. One of the characters that we saw during the event was Duffy! Duffy We also saw Pocahontas and Meeko (if you’ll notice, the princesses are a bit bundled up because it’s been a bit chilly in Florida, especially at night). Pocahontas and Meeko The White Rabbit also popped in to hang out with us. He’s late! He’s late! For a very important date! White Rabbit Oh, and good news — the lines to meet characters during our event were quite short! If you’re interested in attending After Hours in Hollywood Studios, you can currently buy tickets for the following dates and prices: Wednesday, January 24th – $165 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $135) Wednesday, February 21st – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) Monday, February 26th – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) Wednesday, March 13th – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) Wednesday, March 20th – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) Wednesday, March 27th – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) Wednesday, April 3rd – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) Wednesday, April 10th – $175 (Annual Passholders/DVC: $145) It’s time! A ticket gets you into the event after the park closes to day guests, plus you get access to select snacks and drinks AND a second showing of the Wonderful World of Animation show and Disney Movie Magic (if you arrive early enough, you can watch those shows TWICE). Interested? Book tickets on the Disney World website now or on the My Disney Experience app! Stay tuned to DFB for more. I did it. I stayed at a Disney hotel while it was under construction. We know, we know — we tell you to avoid this all the time but I just couldn’t help myself. Lobby Check in desks I booked Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel ages ago when the renovation was announced secretly hoping that everything would be done by the time I arrived. I thought to myself “OOO, maybe if I book this now, I will get a good deal and end up in one of the new rooms. Either way, I’m staying on property so it will be fine.” Well, I was wrong. I did not get a new room and I learned what it’s like to stay at a Disney Hotel during a hefty renovation. I’m here to tell ya the good, the bad, and the annoying of the situation! Fire Alarms BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. Listening to this while your baby is trying to nap was a highlight of my stay. Now, I must say, Disney does warn you that there may be fire alarm testing between certain hours of the day but that didn’t make it better when I found myself in this situation. The Paradise Pier Hotel will soon be Pixar Place Hotel Moral of the story, if you plan to be at a hotel under renovation during the daytime hours, it wouldn’t hurt to ask a Cast Member when or if you can expect a fire alarm that day so you can prepare and be in a better situation than I was! Strange Smells Now, the lobby area of the hotel was clean, stunning, and great. When we were checking in, I was like wow, I did get one heck of a deal and this is going to be one amazing stay. Then, once we found ourselves on our floor, I was shocked for a different reason. After we stepped off the elevator, there was a long dark hallway blocked off by a curtain. I assume that this is a section of rooms that construction workers were actively working on. Pixar Place We couldn’t see anything, of course. But, there was a bit of a chemically smell in the hallways throughout our stay that we weren’t too fond of! Luckily, we didn’t smell anything once we were in our room. Outdated Rooms Now, like I was saying above, the lobby and the restaurant area at the hotel were STUNNING. I am so impressed by all of the new decor. So we were pretty disappointed when we opened our door to our old outdated Paradise Pier room. Paradise Pier Disney had tried to Pixar them up by placing a large Luxo Ball on the bed. But nonetheless, the room was still it’s old self. And I know what you’re thinking, “Sierra, you knew that was what the room looked like when you booked.” And you’re right, I did! But it was still just such a weird juxtaposition to the hotel downstairs. The lobby felt like a Disney hotel. Our room however felt sort of like a motel that you’d find down the street from Disney and I truly didn’t feel like it was worth the hundreds of dollars we paid for each night. Here is what the completed rooms look like! ©Disney Long Waits for a Service Elevator The guest elevator was closed during our stay, so we ended up in an area that is typically only for Cast Members. It wasn’t in theme, of course, and we had to share it with all of the other Cast Members and construction workers. Everyone we met was lovely but since both guests and Cast Members were sharing the elevator, there were a lot of delays! Paradise Pier Construction It took quite a bit of time for an elevator to arrive, so if you have a reservation or are planning to rope drop, take the stairs or leave extra early! We had our stroller, so stairs weren’t an option for us! Closed Amenities Disney did send me a reminder email before my stay to share that the resort would be under construction and that not everything would be available. While we were there, the pool area was already open and so was the new Great Maple restaurant. ©Disney The new cafe was closed throughout our entire stay, so there was no Quick Service location open at our hotel. Closed Disney Cafe The area was already renovated, it just hadn’t opened yet. Closed cafe Okay, it’s time to talk about the GOOD things we experienced during our stay at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. It wasn’t all bad, folks. New Restaurant The hotel’s new restaurant Great Maple was open during our stay. We were able to walk up with a large party of 7 with 2 babies and get a table within a few minutes. Great Maple If you know Disney restaurants, you know that it’s not easy to walk up with a large party, especially at a new restaurant so this was a very pleasant surprise. Read our full review of Great Maple here! Easy Access to the Parks Even though there were some hiccups, having easy access to the parks is so nice. We loved using the new entrance at Disney California Adventure! We didn’t have to wait in long lines and leaving through DCA instead of walking all the way through Downtown Disney really did save us time! New Entrance Sign Shiny New Lobby And of course, we loved the shiny new lobby and other new areas. The theming is beautiful, the Cast Members were amazing, and we love hunting for the little Pixar characters around the halls. We know that this will be an amazing place to stay once it’s completed, it can just be tough to stay at a hotel during it’s renovation. Murals inside Pixar Place Hotel A few Disney World hotels are currently going through some renovations. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge are just two of them! So, be sure to check the Disney World website when you book your trip. There should be a banner on the hotel’s page stating if there are any renovations going on! Isn’t it nice to hear the phrase, “You’re good to go!“? Know what that means? It means you don’t have to think, plan, or STRESS. That’s music to our ears — especially when we’re talking about planning a trip to Disney World. Oswald Magnet for Passholders Speaking of Disney trip planning, we have a LOT of big changes to discuss. Disney just REMOVED the Park Pass Reservation requirements for most visitors. That means most guests don’t need to plan ahead and reserve a theme park before their trip! But remember how we said “most”? Well, Annual Passholders will still need park reservations if they want to visit a park before 2PM (and all day long on Saturdays and Sundays for Magic Kingdom). Disney is also introducing a new system called good-to-go days, which appear on your calendar in the Disney World app. Now we have an important update on the new system — let’s talk about it! A good-to-go day is a special day when Passholders will NOT need a Park Pass Reservation. These new good-to-go days officially started appearing on the Annual Passholder calendar on January 11th and will be updated on a rolling basis. Now that the calendar is LIVE and available to view, let’s take a look at what these good-to-go days look like! Annual Pass card To view the new good-to-go days online, start by visiting the Annual Passholder Admission Calendar website. From there, select your pass type and the park you want to visit. ©Disney The new good-to-go days currently apply to ALL parks. Just look out for those green circles — those are the good-to-go days! You can also click “View All “Reservation Not Required” Dates” under your Annual Pass name to see a full list. So far, it looks like Incredi-Pass Passholders can visit any of the four parks without a Park Pass on January 16th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, 28th, and February 1st. ©Disney The process works pretty similarly on My Disney Experience. Start by going to the home screen, then tap the “+” icon. From there, tap”Make or Modify Park Reservations.” Then, tap “Annual Passes” under “View Current Availability.” This is the same calendar as above — just select your pass type and the park, or click “View All “Reservation Not Required” Dates” to see the list. It’s pretty simple! ©Disney Don’t forget that Disney will add more dates on a rolling basis. As you can see, the calendar has not been updated up to March 2024 quite yet. We’ll keep our eyes out for new good-to-go days, so stay tuned for updates. ©Disney Here’s a look at the calendar for Annual Passholders with the Pixie Pass. Those with the Pixie Pass can visit without a Park Pass Reservation on January 16th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, and February 1st. ©Disney In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Who else hates dealing with crowds in Disney World? If you didn’t raise your hand just now, we have some serious questions for you… . After Hours Guide Anyway — there isn’t much you can do about the crowds in Disney World except cope or plan to visit during the least busy times of the year. There is another way, although it does cost some money, but it is one of the only times you’ll see a near-empty park. We’re talking about After Hours events which have just returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We’re at the Hollywood Studios After Hours event now, but they are also returning to Magic Kingdom on January 11th and EPCOT on February 2nd. It’s time! The best part of these events? The LOW crowd levels. Seriously, it’s unbelievable how empty the parks feel during this limited-capacity event. Let’s take a look at the crowds at the event on January 10th, 2024! Let’s go inside! There were some lines to get into the parks when we arrived at 7PM. Getting into the park was busy There are shows at the Chinese Theatre, so many people are waiting in this area of the park for those if you enter at 7PM. Be ready for that or arrive a little later if you don’t want to deal with those crowds. We still recommend going inside the park at 7PM so you can maximize your ticket — especially since some of the wait times were already decreasing at this point! Show crowds After that, people started to either leave the parks or head toward Fantasmic! That left other areas of the parks empty like this! Isn’t it kinda creepy how open it is? No crowds near ABC Commisary We aren’t huge fans of PizzeRizzo either…but seriously — there was almost NOBODY over here! Near PizzeRizzo Galaxy’s Edge had a decent amount of people, but it’s nothing compared to the daytime. There’s a lot to do back here with Oga’s Cantina, the Milk Stand, Savi’s Workshop, and Droid Depot open during After Hours — not to mention Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Galaxy’s Edge We could have done several cartwheels in a row and not hit anybody over in Toy Story Land (please don’t do that, we’re just saying we COULD). Toy Story Land Sunset Boulevard cleared up quite a bit after Fantasmic! finished and regular parkgoers had to leave the park. Much better over here Ticket costs range from $155 to $175 depending on the date that you choose. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can get a discount with tickets ranging from $125 to $145. After Hours events in Hollywood Studios take place on certain nights from January 10th to April 10th, 2024. Keep following DFB for more After Hours news in Disney World! We’re not gonna sugarcoat it — some lines in Disney World are just BRUTAL. Rise of the Resistance If you’ve been to Disney World recently, you probably know what we’re about to say — Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash continue to post the highest wait times in the park, and sometimes, even in ALL of Disney World. But what if we told you there is a way to skip these high wait times? Well, we’re in the mood to spill some secrets — there is a way! After Hours has returned to Disney World and we’re at the first Hollywood Studios event of 2024! Ticket costs range from $155 to $175 depending on the day you go. There are also discounts available for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members. After Hours events in Hollywood Studios take place on certain nights from now until April 10th, 2024. It’s time! One of the biggest perks (if not THE biggest) is the shorter wait times, especially in a park like Hollywood Studios which is notorious for its long lines. So how long should you expect to wait in line during this three-hour-long event? We found out! Crowds Here’s a look at the rest of the wait times around 8PM. Wait times at 8PM At this time, Slinky Dog Dash and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway had the highest wait times at 45 minutes and 35 minutes respectively. Wait times at 8PM Rise of the Resistance is one of the most popular rides in Disney World…but during After Hours, you won’t wait nearly as long as you would during the day. Rise of the Resistance We stopped by around 8:45PM while daytime visitors could still be in the park, but the wait was at 45 minutes. We hopped in line shortly after and it actually only took us 8 minutes to get on the attraction! The event began at 9:30PM and at that time, the posted wait for Rise of the Resistance was only 20 minutes! Toy Story Mania had the same wait time and Tower of Terror was a walk-on (peep the 13-minute wait time!). By 10PM, the wait time was down to 10 minutes! Wait times at 9:30PM Slinky Dog Dash often posts higher wait times than the Star Wars ride, so how were wait times looking over in Toy Story Land? Around 9:30PM, we noticed it was the highest wait in the park, but it was down to 30 minutes. Slinky Dog Dash Now it’s time for the 10:30PM wait times! Several rides including Star Tours and Alien Swirling Saucers posted a 5-minute wait time. Walk-ons all around! On the higher end, Toy Story Mania was up to a 30-minute wait time! Slinky Dog Dash was still temporarily closed. Slinky Dog Dash is still closed There you have it! After Hours events are coming back to two more Disney World parks — Magic Kingdom on January 11th and EPCOT on February 2nd. We’ll also be at those events, so keep following DFB for more After Hours coverage to see if it’s worth your money on your next visit to Disney World. We’ll see ya then!
