Disney is wasting no time transforming DinoLand U.S.A. into the new Tropical Americas-themed Pueblo Esperanza land at Animal Kingdom. Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom While we’ve said goodbye to part of this land already, much of it is still open, including Restaurantosaurus and the DINOSAUR attraction. Imagineering recently filed new permits for Restaurantosaurus and a meet-and-greet location, and now, another new permit has been filed — this time, for DINOSAUR. As the resident DFB permit expert, things are seriously starting to ramp up over here! DinoLand U.S.A. is being transformed into Pueblo Esperanza, which will be home to a new Indiana Jones ride — plus the first-ever Encanto ride and more at a Disney park. Construction has already started in the DinoRama area of the land, but parts of DinoLand remain open. As part of the transformation, Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for the DINOSAUR ride. DINOSAUR A new permit has been filed to “Install Set Elements” at DINOSAUR. The contractor listed is Mecca Productions, Inc., which specializes in set designs and fabrication for theme parks and other venues. Since DINOSAUR is eventually closing, it’s likely that this is just a minor update to keep the ride running normally for now. We don’t expect Disney to be making any significant changes to the ride before it goes extinct. DINOSAUR Disney previously shared that 2025 would be your last year to visit DinoLand before it goes extinct — so we’re anticipating an early 2026 closure. Right now, DINOSAUR, the Boneyard, and Restaurontosaurus are all currently still open. We know that DINOSAUR will be closing in 2026, but we don’t have an official date just yet. The Boneyard! You’ve still got time throughout 2025 to grab a bite to eat at Restaurantosaurus as well, but chances are this spot will close at the end of the year. Make sure you stop by before it goes extinct! When it opens, Pueblo Esperanza will become home to two signature attractions — an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride! A Carousel will also provide another ride option. The new land will feature classic Spanish-style architecture with a large hacienda that will also serve as one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World. The rich and lush color and biodiversity of the Tropical Rainforest will be on full display and at the center of Pueblo Esperanza will be a large fountain where stories will be told by gathering villagers. @Disney We’ll be on the lookout for more updates on DinoLand U.S.A. and Pueblo Esperanza at Animal Kingdom. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest updates from Disney World and beyond! What are you looking forward to most about the new Pueblo Esperanza land? There’s just something about walking down Main Street, U.S.A., with the smell of popcorn in the air, Cinderella Castle in view, and that background loop music at Magic Kingdom. Dole Whip I’ve been going to Disney World for 2 years as my job and even longer personally, and these are the items I will never stop buying at Magic Kingdom. While every visit is a little different, there are a few tried-and-true items I always find myself buying. If you’re anything like me, these might be on your list, too. 1. Spring Rolls — Adventureland Spring Roll Cart Listen, I’ve had a lot of snacks at Disney World, but the spring rolls from the little cart right at the entrance to Adventureland? Elite. There’s something about grabbing one of these crispy, flavorful rolls just before heading into Adventureland that feels like a rite of passage. There is a reason there is usually a line formed around this cart. Spring Roll Cart 2. Popcorn Yes, you can get Disney popcorn at every park. But popcorn at the Magic Kingdom? It hits different. There’s something about standing in front of the castle, bucket in hand, that makes it taste like the best popcorn you’ve ever had in your life. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, maybe it’s the unbeatable views, or maybe it’s just that first bite after rope dropping your favorite ride. Either way, popcorn here isn’t just a snack, it’s a tradition for me. Magic Kingdom Popcorn Cart 3. Dole Whip — Aloha Isle We all know Dole Whip is a classic Disney treat, and technically, yes, you can find it in other parks and resorts. But how can I pass it up when inside Magic Kingdom? It might be the tropical vibes that make the pineapple swirl feel extra refreshing, but standing in the shade with a cup of that tangy-sweet goodness while taking in the views? Core memory unlocked. Pineapple Dole Whip 4. Cinnamon Roll — Gaston’s Tavern The cinnamon roll at Gaston’s Tavern is not your average breakfast pastry. It’s huge and smothered in gooey cinnamon-sugar perfection. Pro tip: ask for extra icing. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you. It’s warm, soft, indulgent, and you can even share it if you want. While cinnamon rolls exist elsewhere, this one feels like a hidden treasure in the heart of Fantasyland. Gaston’s Tavern — Warm Cinnamon Roll 5. Silhouettes — Main Street, U.S.A. or Liberty Square Silhouette portraits are one of those underrated souvenirs that people often walk past without realizing how special they are. But getting one at Magic Kingdom? It feels like you’re stepping into a timeless Disney tradition. The artists are crazy talented, snipping your profile out by hand in just a few minutes, and the end result is both elegant and charming. They’re surprisingly affordable, totally unique, and framed beautifully. No plastic bubble wand or Mickey plush can compete with that kind of keepsake magic. Center Street Portrait Cart 6. Lightning Lane Multi Pass I’ll be the first to admit that Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an investment, but at Magic Kingdom, it can genuinely transform your day. With the sheer number of attractions in the park, being able to stack three headliners early like Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Jungle Cruise can be a total game-changer. The park can get hectic fast, so anything that lets you skip some lines and spend more time enjoying snacks, parades, and rides instead of standing in queues? Worth every penny. 4 Magic Kingdom Lightning Lanes the Experts REFUSE To Book Lightning Lane at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train No matter how many times I visit the Magic Kingdom, these are the staples I keep coming back to. For more Disney stories and news, be sure to follow DFB! The New Problem That’s Suddenly Plaguing Gen Z in Magic Kingdom What is something you will always buy when you’re at Magic Kingdom? There are SO many dining options at Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland is also constantly introducing new food items and specials of the month. A popular dining spot at the Disneyland Resort recently introduced a new special for August, and we had to give it a try! Caprese Hot Dog We recently stopped by GCH Craftsman Grill inside Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel to grab the hot dog of the month, and we are bringing you all our thoughts! Let’s check out what’s cookin’ at the Grand Californian! The GCH Craftsman Grill offers a hot dog option each month, and for the month of August, you can grab the Caprese Dog for $17. This hot dog features an all-beef hot dog, basil pesto aioli, fresh mozzarella, wild arugula, lemon oil, tomato bruschetta, pomegranate glaze, prosciutto di Parma, on a fresh-baked Italian roll. It is served with a side of fries. The Caprese Dog On first glance, you might miss the hot dog it is so piled with meat! Have no fear though, it is hidden amongst the layers of meat, cheese, and veggies. Although, after tasting it, we think this sandwich might have been better without the hot dog. Everything paired perfectly and tasted fresh…except for the hot dog. It felt a bit out of place amongst all the other ingredients. The Caprese Dog The lemon oil and pomegranate glaze added a wonderful refreshing flavor, and the mozzarella was creamy, soft, and cool. The tomato bruschetta added a fresh and vibrant flavor. There is actually a hot dog there, although it might have been better if there wasn’t… The roll was crispy and crunchy on the outside, while still being nice and fluffy on the inside. The biggest let-down was the hot dog. It didn’t match with the fresh and vibrant flavors from the rest of the meal. A look inside Overall, we loved all the toppings, but we don’t think it was a hit as a hot dog. We much preferred eating it without the hot dog. But if you are looking for a unique hot dog or a new take on the caprese sandwich, this could be a great option for you! The Caprese Dog In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Disney World as a whole is going through a TON of changes, but Magic Kingdom in particular is undergoing more refurbishments and projects at one time than we’ve seen in a WHILE. Construction at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad There are construction projects in over half of the park’s lands right now, which is pretty significant. However, there are two massive projects that are affecting guests traveling to the park. If you’re heading to the Most Magical Place on Earth soon, this is what you need to prepare for in Magic Kingdom — this construction may affect your trip more than you thought, so it’s best to be prepared! Three FEWER Attractions to Experience There are over two dozen rides in Magic Kingdom alone, but when any number of rides close, it can affect the crowd dispersion around the park. Not to mention that the Disney World parks deal with regular maintenance issues throughout each day as well, which can close MORE attractions, messing up crowd control even more. Tom Sawyer Island is now CLOSED Magic Kingdom’s new Piston Peak land is taking the place of the Rivers of America in Liberty Square, meaning that the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island are both permanently closed, and Villains Land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. While Disney closed Big Thunder to refurbish the ride itself, guests would also be able to see the progress on Villains Land construction while riding the attraction, and we have a feeling that could be another reason for the extended closure. The Parade Route Has Changed! Magic Kingdom’s parade route travels from Frontierland, through Liberty Square, then travels up Main Street, U.S.A., before exiting right at the top of the park (unless it’s Disney Starlight, the new nighttime parade, which travels in the opposite direction, starting on Main Street and ending in Frontierland). With all the construction happening in Liberty Square, a lot of the less-busy parade spots have been affected! Walls at Frontierland Just look at those walls! They’re pretty thick, and being in more than one place along the parade route means that there’s less space to grab a spot to view the show. If you’ve yet to see these walls in person, we recommend scouting out your Frontierland/Liberty Square parade spot earlier than usual to ensure you’ve got plenty of time to grab the spot you’d like. Bottlenecking Galore Some of Magic Kingdom’s walkways aren’t very big, and when you add more walls into the mix, there’s even LESS room to walk. If you’re walking from Frontierland to Liberty Square, you’ll want to watch out for bottleneck spots. Liberty Square Riverboat If you can avoid walking through these areas during extra busy times, we recommend doing so, but if you can’t, allow for some extra time to get from one ride to another or to a dining reservation. The last thing you want to do is rush through the park! The Disney World Railroad is Only HALF Running The Walt Disney World Railroad is one of the most iconic rides in the park. It’s relaxing, nostalgic, and wonderful to so many, but with all the construction going on, only HALF of the railroad is running. Walt Disney World Railroad Main Street station Right now, the Frontierland station is totally closed, and the train is only traveling between the Main Street and Fantasyland stations, which leaves about half of the route unavailable at this time. Disney has turned some of the benches down on the train so you can now face either direction, which we do think is a really awesome option! Different directions We’re in the Disney World parks EVERY single day, so when something new is going on, you can guarantee we’ll be bringing that news to you ASAP. We’re always keeping our eyes peeled for the latest Disney World news so you’re fully prepared for your next trip, so stay tuned to DFB! Personally, I LOVE a themed snack in Disney World. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge I love walking into a land in a theme park and getting a special treat that’s exclusive to the location. That’s why dining in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can be so much fun. And today, I’m taking you along with me to Ronto Roasters for lunch! Atmosphere Ronto Roasters is located inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, right after you pass through the market. It has a walk-up counter, but they also offer Mobile Ordering here. Ronto Roasters! The centerpiece of the dining location is a droid turning a spit to “cook” the meat. And a super fun fact is that the spit itself is built from a podracing engine! Inside the quick service! The right side of the counter is home to the walk-up line. It can get fairly busy in here during the lunch rush! Ordering! And on the left side, you’ll find the Mobile Order pickup, as well as their self-serve water dispenser. (The water here is legitimately good!) Where you’ll grab your mobile order! For seating, there aren’t many tables, but you can find a few across from the counter. Seating Additional seating is available downstairs next to the restaurant. Extra seating by Docking Bay 7 Now that we’ve checked out the atmosphere, let’s take a look at that menu! Menu The menu here isn’t too extensive — they’re only open until 3PM each day, so they’ve just got a few items. You can order the famous Ronto Wrap or the Kyryll Pork Rinds for a quick snack. If you’re a plant-based eater, try out the Zuchii Wrap or the Andoan Fruit with Muja Sauce. The Menu! For beverages, they’ve got Surabat Valley Harvest Brew, the Coruscant Cooler, and the Surly Sarlaac with alcohol. The non-alcoholic specialty drink is the Tatooine Sunset. Eats First up, I’m starting out this review with the classic Ronto Wrap for $13.99. This is made with roasted pork, grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, and tangy slaw wrapped in pita bread. The Ronto Wrap! This is a famous Disney World snack, and for good reason! This snack (or meal for some) has an incredible depth of flavor. The sausage has a nice snap to it and a smokiness that pairs well with the slaw. The roasted pork pairs well with the sausage and makes this more of a filling option. The inside of the wrap The peppercorn sauce brings this entire thing together. It’s peppery and creamy, which helps make sure the pita isn’t too dry. The pita is super soft, and the slaw adds a great textural element with a nice crunch. There’s a reason the team gets it constantly and will continue to do so! Another look at all that slaw! Next, I tried the plant-based Zuchii Wrap for $12.99. It’s made with grilled zucchini, smoky chickpea-onion slaw, creamy garlic-tahini sauce, and fresh cilantro on pita bread. The Zuchii Wrap! Before you grab this one, be prepared for the spice! It caught us off guard, and while some might love that, our reporter wasn’t a fan. I would say it’s more than the typical “Disney World spicy,” you might see meaning it really packed a punch rather than just adding flavor. There’s so much going on here! The zucchini was crisp and had a nice crunch when I bit into it. The chickpeas were soft and balanced well with the crispy zucchini. The heat from the slaw really overwhelmed the other flavors and made it hard to enjoy everything the wrap had to offer. If you love spice, this is for you! It just might not be for us. A look inside! For a little side snack, I tried the Kyryll Pork Rinds for $7.49. These are pork rinds seasoned in a savory blend of ancho chile, cheddar, smoke, and cinnamon. The pork rinds! This tasted overwhelmingly of fake cheddar dust. There is a hint of chili and smoky flavors, but mainly…cheddar. It’s almost reminiscent of an off-brand type of Cheetos. They were salty and messy, but they did have a great crunch. They were fine, I just don’t know if I would get them again. A look inside the bag Drinks To drink, I got the specialty non-alcoholic beverage, the Tatooine Sunset, for $6.79. It’s made with Gold Peak unsweetened tea and Minute Maid premium lemonade with melon and blueberry. Sounds delicious! The Tatooine Sunset! This one wasn’t too remarkable. It was sweet, and the fruit was subtle but indiscernible. While we know that it was melon and blueberry flavors, we would have been able to pinpoint that without the menu stating it. It was nice and refreshing, but nothing to write home about. A closer look. If you like fruit teas, this one is decent! If you’re looking for something to knock your socks off, keep searching. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want to eat in Galaxy’s Edge You need a delicious, savory snack Or you’re in a hurry around Hollywood Studios You should skip this Disney World spot if… You need lots of seating You want an outstanding drink Or you want a finer dining experience Overall There’s a reason this is one of the team’s favorite spots in Disney World! It’s tasty, quick, and offers consistency every time. While it might not be for everyone, it is easy for us. That Ronto Wrap really is a STAR in Disney World, but especially in Hollywood Studios. The breakfast options are great as well! Our full meal! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Brand new Halloween popcorn buckets and sippers are coming to Disney World soon! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party We’re welcoming Halloween at Disney World with open arms now. We’ve bought our tickets to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, scoped out the treats and eats we’ll find throughout the night, and we’ve even shopped the latest Halloween merch collections to shriek about! But Disney had a few more souvenirs to tease that had us practically throwing our wallets out the window. Halloween at Disney World is just around the corner with the spooky season filling the air in just a few weeks. Excited is the understatement of the century for someone like me who’s favorite time to visit Disney World is during the fall and now I’ve got even more souvenirs to look forward to snagging during my visits (and yours, too)! Get that pumpkin spice ready! Disney just teased a few more popcorn buckets and sippers we’ll be able to find to usher in the season’s shriekings. Let’s take a closer look at what they’ve just announced! We hope you’re ready for popcorn Check out how adorable this Pluto Skeleton Sipper is! ©Disney We love that Pluto’s dressed in his costume and ready to pick up his fair share of candy trick-or-treating! If you’re on the lookout for him, you’ll find him available at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You’ll also want to know in advance that Disney’s imposed a limit of two per person, per transaction, and he’ll be available while supplies last! There’s also a new version of a Stitch popcorn bucket coming this year! This year’s Stitch Mummy Bucket will also be available at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios if you’re like us and have to add him to your collection! Again, there’s a limit of two per person, per transaction for this popcorn bucket. He’ll be around as long as supplies last. Last but certainly not least on the new list is this b00-tiful Mickey Mouse Ghost Bucket! ©Disney We’re OBSESSED with its design already. This one will be the most elusive of the bunch, though, because you’ll only find him available at Disney Springs. The same limit of two per person, per transaction will apply for Mickey, too. You might be walking right past some of the BEST Mexican food in all of Disney World. Birria Lamb Enchiladas and Chicken Mole No, really. If you’re sticking to the parks and skipping the resorts and Disney Springs, you’re missing out on some seriously incredible eats. We’re talking juicy carne asada, crispy birria tacos, creamy enchiladas, and mole that tastes like it came straight from abuela’s kitchen. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on three spots that may not be on your radar, but they absolutely should be: Rosa Mexicano at the Dolphin Hotel, Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs, and Maya Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs. Rosa Mexicano (Walt Disney World Dolphin) Let’s kick things off at Rosa Mexicano, tucked inside the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel. This place calls itself an “elevated fiesta dining experience,” and we get it. It’s colorful, it’s upbeat, and the menu is anything but average. Rosa Mexicano First up: let’s talk about the Birria Quesatacos. You get braised Angus beef brisket packed inside a crispy corn tortilla with Oaxaca cheese, onions, cilantro, and a side of consommé for dipping. The texture here is next-level. Crispy tortilla, baked cheese edges, juicy brisket, fresh cilantro—it all works. The consommé has a savory, onion-forward flavor with just the right amount of heat. Fair warning, though: this dish is a cilantro bomb. If you’re not a fan, ask if they can tone it down. And while the brisket could be a touch more tender, the flavor is on point. Quesatacos Then we moved on to the Roasted Chicken Suizas Enchiladas, and honestly? This was the dish of the night. The tomatillo salsa verde is tangy and vibrant, the chicken is tender, the tortillas are soft, and the cheese and crema pull it all together into one dreamy bite. You can choose between Mexican or white rice on the side. We went with Mexican rice, and it was packed with roasted tomato, poblano pepper, and more of that cilantro. Again—cilantro haters, consider yourselves warned. Enchilada Time! It’s not the cheapest meal on property, but it’s definitely not the most expensive either, and you’re getting real flavor in a fun setting just a short walk from EPCOT. Win-win. Click here for our latest review of Rosa Mexicano Frontera Cocina (Disney Springs) Over in Disney Springs, you’ll find Frontera Cocina, a bright and airy spot that just might become your go-to for Mexican food outside the parks. It’s helmed by celebrity chef Rick Bayless, and it shows. There’s a lot of love put into the food here. Frontera Cocina We started with the Queso Fundido. It’s a skillet of melted Queso Chihuahua with roasted poblanos and caramelized onions, served with warm corn tortillas. The cheese blend hits that perfect balance of sharp and creamy. The poblanos bring in some depth, and there’s a red tomatillo salsa on the side that packs a smoky punch. It’s rich, it’s shareable, and it sets the tone for what’s to come. Queso Fundido Next up was the Carne Asada. Pricey? Yes. But you’re getting a seriously generous portion of garlic and red chile-marinated steak, plus black bean refritos, sweet caramelized plantains, tomatillo salsa, and fresh corn tortillas. The steak had that flame-grilled, smoky char we love, and while there was more fat than we’d prefer, the flavor made up for it. Our sides were a little sticky texture-wise, but they tasted like something straight out of a home kitchen. Bonus: the pickled onions and fresh herbs on top add a little freshness that balances the richness of the dish. Carne Asada Finally, the Creamy Chicken Enchiladas Suiza were a hit. Just-made corn tortillas filled with chicken and poblano peppers, all smothered in a tomatillo cream sauce and topped with melty cheese and cilantro. There’s a bit of heat that sneaks up on you, so spice-sensitive folks might want to pace themselves. But if you love bold flavors and creamy textures, this one’s a must. Creamy Chicken Enchiladas Suiza Frontera Cocina nails it when it comes to authentic Mexican flavors in a polished setting. It’s not overly fancy, but the food feels thoughtful, and the portions are hearty. Definitely worth a stop. Click here for our latest review of Frontera Cocina Maya Grill (Disney’s Coronado Springs) Maya Grill flies a bit under the radar, but that’s kind of its charm. Located at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, this spot leans into a more moody, romantic vibe. Think high ceilings, warm tones, and a live guitarist setting the scene. Maya Grill The Chicken Mole was our standout. This dish comes with pan-seared marinated chicken in a smoky, spicy Oaxaca mole, served with roasted cauliflower and broccolini. The mole sauce was deep, earthy, and just a little sweet—like a barbecue sauce with layers. The veggies added some crunch and freshness that balanced out the richness of the mole, and the pickled onions were an unexpected pop of brightness. If you’ve never tried mole before, this is a great intro dish. Chicken Mole We couldn’t leave without trying the Fried Baby Churros. These are bite-sized churros served with dulce de leche ice cream and caramel sauce. They were crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and just the right amount of sweet. It’s a small portion, but definitely shareable if you’re not looking to go into full sugar overload. Fried Baby Churros That said, Maya Grill won’t be for everyone. The food is solid, but a little more rustic. The pacing of service is slower, so if you’re in a rush, this probably isn’t the place. But if you’re looking for a quieter, date-night-style experience with flavors that feel a little more traditional, it’s a great pick. Click here for our latest review of Maya Grill Final Thoughts Listen, we get it—when you think Mexican food in Disney World, your brain might immediately go to EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion. And yes, that spot has its moments. But if you’re willing to venture out a bit, there’s a whole other level of flavor waiting for you. We’d absolutely get it again! Rosa Mexicano is bold and festive. Frontera Cocina is polished and full of flavor. Maya Grill is cozy and classic. Each brings something different to the table, and they all deserve a spot on your Disney food radar. So next time you’re planning your meals, consider hopping on a bus or boat to one of these spots. You might just find your new favorite taco outside the parks. A major streaming service is about to end PERMANENTLY. ©Amazon Streaming services have overtaken movie theaters and live television over the past decade when it comes to how we consume entertainment. However, while services like Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu charge users to access their wide range of media, some offerings like Amazon’s free streaming service, Freevee, have been game-changing. The app is about to end, but there will still be ways to watch its content FOR FREE. As we previously reported, Amazon is shutting down freevee this August with a specific date to be announced later. ©Freevee This free ad-supported streaming service is about to be consolidated into Prime Video, which is included with Amazon Prime memberships. Freevee debuted in 2019 and was originally owned by IMDb, which has been owned by Amazon since 1998. Amazon Per Amazon, current freevee users will be able to watch shows and movies on Prime Video for free WITHOUT a subscription to Amazon Prime. ©Amazon Freevee has offered original shows alongside some Prime Video content with ads for free through its app. Notably, Amazon launched ads on Prime Video last year with the option to remove ads for an additional $2.99 per month. Freevee users might not experience that much of a viewing in the short term, but we’ll continue to monitor that situation to see if it changes. Magic Kingdom is undergoing a few transformations right now, and the next time you head back into the park, things might be a little different. Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain is still closed for refurbishment until 2026. We also have large construction walls up around the Rivers of America to make way for the new Piston Peak Cars area coming in the future. Now, over in Tomorrowland, we just had another ride close for a lengthy refurbishment. We’re talking about Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, which is getting some big upgrades. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has officially closed as of August 4, 2025, for a comprehensive refurbishment. The ride, a fan favorite shooting adventure themed to Buzz Lightyear’s mission to defeat Zurg, is receiving some significant updates. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed on August 4, 2025, with an expected reopening sometime in 2026. This downtime is part of a strategic effort by Walt Disney Imagineering to modernize the ride through new show elements, updated ride technology, and enhanced guest interactivity. Inside the attraction, guests can expect a fresh new introductory scene featuring a robot companion named “Buddy”, who helps train space cadets and showcases the updated interactivity before the main mission begins. There are also new ride vehicles. ©Disney Most notably, the ride will transition from fixed vehicle‑mounted shooters to handheld blasters. These new blasters feature always‑activated lasers, dual‑color options to distinguish players, and incorporate lighting, sound, and vibration effects. This makes the targeting more immersive. Meanwhile, the static “Z” targets throughout the ride will be replaced with reactive targets that light up and animate when successfully hit. ©Disney We reported that a Notice of Commencement permit was filed in early June, naming Elite A/V Systems Inc. as the contractor for electrical work tied to the overhaul. The permit runs for up to a year, signalling a full interior systems retrofit and possibly supporting further enhancements down the line. ©Orange County, Florida As of August 4th, no construction walls were erected around the building. There was only signage covering the doors, and the queue remains undisturbed for now. The windows facing the PeopleMover have been darkened, and the outdoor audio commentary referencing Buzz has been temporarily paused. We may expect external walls or updated theming to appear later in the process, especially once the interior has made progress. Disney has not announced any queue reconfigurations yet. Closed for Refurbishment Space cadets everywhere are in for a galactic upgrade in 2026, and stay tuned to DFB as we bring you the updates to this ride. Disney World has just released the menu for a highly anticipated new lounge coming to Magic Kingdom, and we couldn’t help but notice something glaringly familiar! ©Disney I’ve been reporting on Disney World’s food for years and a visitor to its parks and restaurants even longer, and I’ve seen some downright bizarre food items. In between Disney World’s Halloween party exclusives and even throwing it back to Disney World’s 50th celebration, there are a few unique items I would have rather put out of sight and out of mind, but Disney just had to bring one of the weirdest back in a new life. As I mentioned before, Disney just dropped the menu and prices for the upcoming pirate themed lounge in Magic Kingdom, The Beak and Barrel. Inside you’ll join up with a spirited pirate crew sipping on both alcoholic and non-spirited beverages and licking your fingers over some of their tasty-looking dishes. This new lounge has been under construction for a while and now we finally have an opening date! ©Disney Along with the lounge’s opening announcement, Disney also decided to let us know what will await us on the menu ahead of planning our visit and grabbing reservations. We combed through the menus excitedly “ooh-ing” at most of the things we spotted until we abruptly stopped and thought we heard a record scratch as we spotted IT. ©Disney What’s the “it” in question? A new snack coming to the lounge named the Kraken’s Catch. This cold salad is quite unique with octopus tentacles – yes, you heard that right – marinated in lemon and lime juice and paired with olives, bell peppers, avocado, and Piquillo pepper-almond foam. Kraken’s Catch ©Disney While it might look pretty for the most part (especially that Piquillo pepper-almond foam), there’s one glaring addition to this salad that we can’t seem to shake our gaze. There’s a giant tentacle hanging out of the top of the drink. ©Disney Well, I guess it’s aptly named for its wacky ingredients, but the jury in our office is still out on just how it’s going to taste. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Disney World put literal tentacles in our food. A few years back, Be Our Guest offered a drink that had a similar tentacle garnish to it, and we’ve trauma-bonded with Disney fans who had the pleasure of seeing it ever since. Squid’s Revenge! All jokes aside, this is a unique spin to an offering that quite fits the theming and vibes you’re paying to see inside The Beak and Barrel, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t already discussing which of our brave souls gets to try it first! Don’t go anywhere — you’ve got to come with us for a peek inside once The Beak and Barrel opens! Be sure to check back in with us soon for a FULL review of everything we tried at Disney World’s newest lounge. NEWS: Are Disney Park Crowds Growing or Shrinking? Aarg! If you’ve been obsessed with the idea of the pirate-themed bar coming to Magic Kingdom since it was announced, like me, you’re going to love this update. Plunderer’s Punch ©Disney Pirates of the Caribbean runs in my blood after my dad was a Cast Member there at Disneyland, and I’ve been keeping track of this project for months now, ready to grab my parrot plush and head straight to Adventureland. If you’ve been worried about grabbing reservations, Disney might have just made it easier to visit the lounge when it first opens. The Beak and Barrel is going to be open during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! The tavern opens on August 29th, and reservations open August 14th. The Treasure Trove ©Disney Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights from August 15th to October 31st, so don’t expect those first few parties to have availability at Beak and Barrel, but we’re expecting a chance to book reservations for later parties starting in September. Kraken’s Catch ©Disney More information on heading to the lounge during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will be available in September. ©Disney Now, is this the best way to spend your time during the after-hours parties? That depends! Both the Halloween and Christmas parties are only for a few hours after the parks close, and there is a lot to do during the event. If you’ve been to the parties before and are looking for an upgraded experience, this can be a great way to do it — especially if you’re dressing up as pirates for Halloween. Cursed Treasure ©Disney Because the parties can often feel hectic, this can be a great way to take a calmer approach to the night. Taking 45 minutes in the middle of the party to sit down, put your feet up, while still staying in theme for the night, can make your party the best one yet. ©Disney Beak and Barrel is family-friendly with snacks and drinks for all ages and alcoholic drinks for guests 21 and older. Reservations are 45 minutes long, and there is a maximum of two drinks per guest. I’m going to be singing “A Pirate’s Life for Me” all day long and plan my outfit for my visit. Today is a HUGE day for The Walt Disney Company. ©ESPN The company released its Q3 earnings report this morning, which told us a LOT about how the company is doing financially. We’ve already had four big announcements from the report, including details about how the theme parks are faring financially, but Disney also dropped some big news for sports fans…and you’re going to want to hear it. ESPN DTC First up, ESPN’s Direct-to-consumer service and enhanced app will be launching on August 21st. The new app, “a sports fan’s dream,” will bring ALL of ESPN’s networks and services to one app with new personalized features and functions. Called ESPN DTC, the service will offer two plans: An unlimited plan for $29.99 per month that includes access to all of ESPN’s linear networks: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes – in addition to ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX, covering 47,000 live events each year, on-demand replays, studio shows, original programming, and more. ESPN DTC bundled with Disney+ and Hulu, including a special offer at launch for $29.99 per month for the first 12 months. ESPN content will be available to watch within the Disney+ app for those who choose the bundle. ©ESPN The new app will introduce new features, including multiview options, integrated game stats, betting information, fantasy sports and commerce, as well as personalization options. WWE Disney also announced that WWE Premium Live Events are headed to ESPN platforms in the U.S. beginning in 2026. The ESPN DTC service will stream all WWE Premium Live Events annually with select simulcasting on ESPN linear platforms. This includes both WrestleMania and SummerSlam, which are both two-night events. Other events that will be streaming include Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, Money In the Bank, and more. ESPN will also have the opportunity to stream WWE’s pre- and post- show event shows. ©ESPN Nick Khan, President, WWE said, “WWE’s agreement with ESPN is a pivotal moment for our millions of fans across the United States: the leader in sports entertainment partnering with the biggest brand in sports media. Bringing WWE’s flagship events to ESPN’s platform is tremendously exciting. We know the sky is the limit.” NFL Deal ESPN has also reached a deal with the National Football League (NFL) to acquire NFL Network, along with other assets, in exchange for the NFL getting a 10% equity stake in the network. According to Reuters, analysts and industry insiders believe the stake could be worth $2-$3 billion. ©NFL ESPN has said that this would add to their offerings on ESPN DTC, but this deal is not final…it still has to face regulatory approval. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort isn’t just known for its laid-back tropical vibes, but it’s also a major transportation hub for the Disney Skyliner. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner As the central station where multiple Skyliner lines connect, Caribbean Beach offers guests incredibly easy access to EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and other nearby resorts. But a rare route change is now affecting that convenience, and if you’re staying at Caribbean Beach, you’ll want to know about this before your stay. On nights when EPCOT offers Extended Evening Hours, an extra benefit typically reserved for guests staying at Deluxe Resorts, the Disney Skyliner operates on a reduced schedule: it closes one hour after the official Extended Evening Hours end. However, the only route that remains active is the line between EPCOT’s International Gateway and Disney’s Riviera Resort. All other Skyliner routes, including those to Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century, and Disney’s Art of Animation, are completely unavailable during that period. EPCOT For most guests staying at Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, or Art of Animation resorts, this shift can be a major inconvenience. Even if you’re physically at EPCOT when the Extended Evening Hours end, you’ll find you can only board the Skyliner if you’re staying at Riviera. Those hoping to return to their home resort via Skyliner will need to rely on Disney bus transportation or other options, which often face long waits after the park event ends. This does make sense because Disney’s Riviera is the only Deluxe Resort found on the Skyliner system. Inside the Disney Skyliner Guests should also note that travelling on the Disney Skyliner will not allow them to access the EPCOT parking lot after EPCOT has closed for the day. If you are attempting to return to your parked car, you will need to find transportation, such as a Disney bus. Spaceship Earth For more Disney World news, be sure to follow DFB! Disney just announced the latest data on its streaming service — Disney+. ©Disney During the earnings call for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 (held on August 6th), Disney announced that Disney+ was a success during the third quarter of 2025. Here’s what you need to know. The Walt Disney Company reported earnings for its third fiscal quarter, which ended June 28th, 2025. While the Company commented on everything from its Experiences business to its Entertainment division, we’re going to focus on the Disney+ streaming data. Disney+ Disney+ falls into the Entertainment segment of The Walt Disney Company. For the third fiscal quarter, revenue for Disney’s entertainment segment (traditional TV networks, direct-to-consumer streaming, and films) increased by 1% to $10.7 billion. The direct-to-consumer streaming business revenue was up 6% to $6.18 billion, but the overall entertainment segment was impacted by the traditional TV sector, where revenue dropped 15% to $2.27 billion. A bright spot in the data came from Disney+, where 1.8 million new subscribers joined the service, increasing the total to about 128 million. ©Disney The Walt Disney Company expects a “modest increase” in Disney+ subscribers for the upcoming fourth quarter. Further, Disney expects Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions to increase by more than 10 million compared to the current period. Hulu sign in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Disney also saw success with its Hulu streaming service, where total Hulu subscribers grew 1% to 55.5 million. ©Disney Disney CFO Hugh Johnston recently told CNBC that he expects the new streaming service to be “accretive to overall earnings growth,” further solidifying Disney’s slow and steady wins in the streaming department. ©Disney Disney’s traditional TV business negatively impacted the entertainment sector. The total operating income for the linear networks, including networks like ABC and FX, decreased by 28% to $697 million. Disney stated that the TV business was impacted by a decline in advertising revenue due to lower viewership and rates. ©Disney Overall, Disney’s streaming business reported a mostly successful quarter. Disney+ saw an increase in subscribers, as did Hulu. According to Disney CFO Hugh Johnston, who spoke with CNBC on August 6th, Disney+ continues to be a stronger and stronger service. CEO Bob Iger also pointed to the success of the Disney+ Hulu bundle and noted that a unified Disney+ and Hulu streaming app experience will be available next year. ©Disney Further, thanks to a new partnership, ESPN content can be watched directly inside Disney+ (with certain subscriptions). It’ll be interesting to see just how the service continues to develop in the future. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned for all the latest news. Disney has just dropped some MAJOR updates, and we’ve got to share them with you! EPCOT On August 6th, 2025, Disney released its earnings report and held its earnings call for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025. The Company shared updates about Disney+, how the Disney theme parks are doing financially, and MUCH more. Want to know all the latest news? You’re in the right place! Let’s dive into the updates! 1 — Financial Results – Overview First, we have the financial overview. Disney has shared some numbers that show, as a whole, how the Company is doing financially. For Q3, Disney revealed that revenue increased by 2% and income before taxes increased by 4%. Magic Kingdom By comparison, for Q2, Disney revealed that revenues were $23.6 billion, segment operating income was $4.4 billion, and diluted earnings per share (EPS) were $1.81. That’s a big-picture look at the numbers. Now, let’s dive into the different divisions of the Walt Disney Company to see how those are doing. 2 — Disney+ Next up, we have Disney+. Disney has shared that the total number of paid subscribers for Disney+ is now 183 million. Disney has also noted that the average monthly revenue per paid subscriber is now $8.09, and operating income for direct-to-consumer as a whole is $346 million. Disney+ By comparison, in Q2, Disney shared that Disney+ had 126 million subscribers, and Direct-to-Consumer operating income was $336 million. During past updates, Disney has shared that pricing for Disney+ will steadily increase over a period of years, though dramatic price increases are not planned. Things are subject to change, though. We’ve also seen Disney updating its Disney+ library with things like “WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW” and the live-action Snow White. We’ll continue to watch for updates about the Disney+ service and bring you all the latest. Click here to see some perks YOU can get as a Disney+ subscriber! 3 — Disney Experiences (Theme Parks, Cruise Line, Merchandise) Next, let’s tackle the Disney Experiences division, which covers Disney’s theme parks, Disney Cruise Line, and merchandise. For Q3, Disney shared that segment operating income increased by $294 million, for a total of $2.5 billion, and operating income grew 22% to $1.7 billion. Hey Mickey! By comparison, during Q2, segment operating income was $2.5 billion, and the Domestic Parks & Experiences’ operating income was $1.8 billion. Disney had previously revealed that bookings were up for the summer. But, interestingly, we have seen Disney running several promotions and deals, like offering gift cards for those who purchase new Annual Passes. Tree of Life Major changes are on the way for the Disney theme parks (especially Disney World), including a new Cars-themed area in Magic Kingdom, a Villains Land in Magic Kingdom, a Monsters, Inc.-themed land in Hollywood Studios, and Pueblo Esperanza in Animal Kingdom. Plus, there are changes planned for Disneyland and more cruise ships in the works. It’ll be interesting to see how all of that change impacts attendance. We’ll be watching for updates! Click here to see ALL the new rides and attractions coming to Disney World in 2025 (and beyond) Disney Wish There weren’t too many updates on Disney Cruise Line, but it was mentioned that the launch of the Disney Treasure in the first quarter of the year helped increase the volume of passenger cruise dates and occupied rooms. There was also an increase in costs due to the fleet expansion. Click here to learn about the Disney Cruise Line fleet expansion 4 — ESPN Disney also shared an update about ESPN. For Q3, Disney announced that the segment’s operating income was $1.0 billion, an increase of $235 million. By comparison, during Q2, ESPN had a segment operating income of $687 million. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex New things are in the works for ESPN, with Disney working on a new streaming service for ESPN, which is set to launch on August 21st. 5 — More! A final word from the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger: “The company is taking major steps forward in streaming with the upcoming launch of ESPN’s direct-to-consumer service, our just announced plans with the NFL, and our forthcoming intergration of Hulu into Disney+, creating a truly differentiated streaming proposition that harnesses the highest-caliber brands and franchises, general entertainment, family programming, news and industry-leading sports content. And we have more expansions underway around the world in our parks and experiences than at any other time in our history.” During the last earnings call, Disney dropped some MAJOR news about a new theme park they’ll be building in Abu Dhabi. This earnings call, we didn’t get quite that big of an announcement, but we still learned about the Company’s current financial status and just how each of its divisions is doing. Hey, Mickey! Why is that important? Well, it gives us a HUGE insight into what is doing well (and what’s not doing well) for Disney right now. That can clue us into what steps they might take next — what areas they may want to focus on and invest more in, how prices may increase or otherwise change in the coming months/years, etc. While at first this might seem like stuff that’s far removed from the interactions you have with Mickey Mouse on Main Street, U.S.A., or the show you’re watching on Disney+, it’s all connected and crucial to the operation of the Company that makes those moments happen. And now you’re a true Disney expert since you’ve caught up on all that big news — LOOK AT YOU GO! (Now go show all your friends how smart you are!) Galaxy’s Edge As always, we’ll continue to watch for the latest updates from the Disney Company, so stay tuned for more news. What’s going on with the crowds at Disney World? Are attendance numbers UP? Or are things getting less crowded than before? We’ve got some interesting updates to share. EPCOT On August 6th, Disney held its earnings call and released its earnings report for Q3 of fiscal year 2025. That gave us a glimpse into the current financial situation at Disney, and just what is happening when it comes to its theme parks. So, let’s take a look at what we know! The Disney Experiences division covers Disney’s theme parks, Disney Cruise Line, and merchandise. For Q3, Disney shared that attendance at Disney’s domestic parks and experiences garnered $2.5 billion, an increase of $294 million versus Q3 fiscal 2024. This is compared to the prior-year quarter due to growth at the parks and resorts and, to a lesser extent, Disney Cruise Line. Disney also noted an increase in guest spending due to higher spending at its theme parks. By comparison, during Q2, segment operating income was $2.5 billion, and the Domestic Parks & Experiences’ operating income was $1.8 billion. Year over year, The Walt Disney Company reports a 5% net increase if you compare this quarter in our current year over last year’s. Pandora Disney had previously revealed that bookings were up for the summer and that the “outlook [was] good in that regard “. Disney emphasized this again during the Q2 earnings call when they said that they were “encouraged by the strength and resilience of our business, as evidenced…in the second-half bookings at Walt Disney World.” They also noted that bookings for Disney World for the third quarter were up 4% (at that time). Disney has also shared, however, that international attendance at the domestic parks hasn’t gotten back to pre-COVID levels.
