Have you ever spotted a celebrity in Disney World? If not, you might be surprised at how often celebrities visit Disney World. Slinky Dog Dash! We’re talking HUGE celebrities, too, who love Disney World and visit on more than one occasion. Charlize Theron has been spotted there. Josh Gad has been numerous times. Neil Patrick Harris is such a fan that he has his own drink AND table at a bar in EPCOT. Well, now, another celebrity, Emmy Rossum, has recently visited Disney World, but she performed an AMAZING feat by riding 17 rides…in one day. Actress Emmy Rossum, best known for her roles as Fiona Gallagher in Shameless and Christine in Phantom of the Opera, recently posted to social media about her day trip to Disney World. Now, we don’t often recommend doing Disney World in a day, but when you’re a celebrity, it’s a little easier (mostly because they usually have a VIP guide and you don’t have to stand in long lines). Of course, Rossum took the obligatory Cinderella Castle selfie…as one does. ©Emmy Rossum via Instagram She also listed out the rides she and her family tackled for the day — and it was a whopping 17 rides including attractions in Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Also, they rode Slinky Dog Dash and Mad Tea Party twice (although they might’ve done the child swap thing at those rides). ©Emmy Rossum via Instagram Here’s the full list: “it’s a small world”, Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, Princess meet and greet, Mad Tea Party, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Tomorrowland Speedway, Haunted Mansion, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Mad Tea Party (again), Space Mountain (adults only), Tron Lightcycle / Run (adults only), Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Slinky Dog Dash, and Slinky Dog Dash (again). ©Emmy Rossum via Instagram She also took some time to enjoy some bubbles (who wants to bet one of her kids got a bubble wand?). ©Emmy Rossum via Instagram It looks like Rossum and her family had a lot of fun in Disney World. Disney theme parks all over the world, just like all other theme parks, have rules that are very important to follow to keep everyone safe. World of Frozen in Hong Kong You know what a lot of these are off the top of your head — no running, no fighting, no wearing Disney costumes if you’re over the age of 14 (unless it’s a Halloween party event), among others. However, there are some truly STRANGE rules we’ve seen as well, many of them that lots of guests don’t know about. We recently headed over to Hong Kong Disneyland for the park’s 20th Anniversary celebration, and something that I often do in the U.S. parks without a second thought is ILLEGAL! Just like the hotels in Disney World, there’s shuttle transportation you can take from Hong Kong Disneyland area hotels to the parks. It’s a much easier way to get around than worrying about rideshares or renting a car, which can be incredibly stressful in an unfamiliar country. Waiting for the shuttle at our hotel! When the shuttle arrived and we stepped on board, we immediately went to say hello to our driver and say good morning, but we spotted a sign that had us pausing — as it turns out, it’s ILLEGAL to speak to the shuttle drivers in Hong Kong! No talking to the drivers! We’re grateful this sign was in English as well, because we’re not certain we would have caught it otherwise. It felt a little strange for us to not say hello, but we know that this sign is really more prohibiting talk that could distract the driver or negatively affect them in any way. This would include passengers getting angry at the driver and yelling, or again, just asking them questions to distract them. To be safe, though, we didn’t speak at all, because we didn’t want to get in trouble! The shuttle Looking for more recent Hong Kong Disneyland news? Check out our posts below! Oh, Southwest Airlines, you have really embraced the whole idea of change, and not exactly in a way that many of your customers approve of lately. Southwest plane at Long Beach Airport Now, many folks were torn when Southwest announced that it would be getting rid of its open seating policy and start selling assigned seats. However, many Southwest fans were LIVID when Southwest Airlines announced that it was ending its free checked bags policy (and I’m still angry about it, personally). Well, Southwest is at it again and making even MORE changes…but at least this one is one we might actually like. If you’re a fan of Peet’s Coffee, you’ll be able to enjoy a cup of Peet’s SOON on your next Southwest Airlines flight. On August 13th, Peet’s will be the official Southwest Airlines in-flight coffee partners. And unlike everything else, at least the coffee is still free! So you’ll want to take advantage of that when you fly. ©Southwest Of course, you’ll have to drink a lot of cups of coffee to make up for those bag fees you had to pay, right? Granted, you can still get free checked bags if you book a more expensive premium fare that includes checked bags, use a Rapid Rewards credit card (which has an annual fee of $99), or earn Elite status. So maybe not all is lost. And at least the coffee will be good. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Disney just brought back one of its biggest hotel perks—and fans are already frustrated. Early entry sign! Early Entry is sticking around for 2026 at Disney World, which sounds like great news for resort guests… until you realize it’s still only 30 minutes. A lot of longtime Disney-goers were hoping for the return of a full hour. So while this perk technically came back, many feel it’s only halfway there—and we get why. Let’s break it all down—and share a few tried-and-true tips so you can actually make the most of those 30 minutes (even if it should be 60). Early Entry Is Sticking Around—But It’s Still Just 30 Minutes If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you’ll get access to Early Theme Park Entry in 2026. This perk lets you into every Disney World park 30 minutes before the official opening time, which means fewer crowds and shorter lines—if you play your cards right. Early Entry sign at Animal Kingdom And yes, it’s better than nothing. But here’s the thing: Early Entry used to be a full hour (remember Extra Magic Hours?), and a lot of people think 30 minutes just doesn’t cut it. Across social media and in our own comments section, fans are saying what we’re all thinking: 30 minutes goes by in a flash, and if you’re not ultra-prepared, it can feel like a total waste of time. So, while Disney’s decision to continue this perk is a win for hotel guests, many are left wondering why it couldn’t go just a little further. How to Actually Use Early Entry (Without Wasting It) Now, if you are planning to use Early Entry during your 2026 trip—and you should—it’s absolutely worth it. But only if you use it wisely. We’ve tested this across all four parks, and here’s the hard truth: most people aren’t doing it right. Early Entry So here are 5 early entry hacks that can make all the difference (and help make that 30 minutes feel way more valuable). 1. Get to the Bus or Skyliner EARLY (Yes, Before the Sun Is Up) This is not the time to “casually” head to the park. If Early Entry starts at 8:30 AM, you want to be at your resort’s bus stop or Skyliner station by 7:15 AM. Disney transportation usually starts running 45–60 minutes before Early Entry begins, and being one of the first to board means you’ll be among the first in the park. Inside the Disney Skyliner Showing up late can mean you’re stuck in a sea of resort guests all trying to rope drop the same rides—so your head start basically disappears. 2. Skip the Starbucks Line (Please) We know, we know—caffeine is essential. But Starbucks is a trap during Early Entry. Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios open the Starbucks locations to everyone, so they’re packed before regular park hours even start. That line eats up your precious minutes fast. Starbucks in Magic Kingdom Instead, grab coffee and a snack at your resort before leaving, and then mobile order breakfast after you knock out your first ride or two. Or knock out a few rides and then hop in line for coffee. 3. Know What’s ACTUALLY Open Not all rides are available during Early Entry. This one catches a lot of people off guard. Each park has a specific list of attractions that open early, and if you don’t know what’s running, you might waste time trekking across the park to a ride that isn’t even open yet. Early Theme Park Entry Before your trip, check Disney’s official site or your My Disney Experience app and make a plan around the rides that do open for Early Entry. This is especially important at EPCOT and Animal Kingdom, where the layout makes walking back and forth a time-suck. 4. Have One Clear Priority Ride—And GO You’ve only got 30 minutes. Don’t wander. Don’t browse. Don’t second-guess. Pick your top ride ahead of time and go straight there. At Magic Kingdom, that might be Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. At Hollywood Studios, it’s usually Slinky Dog Dash. At EPCOT, it might be Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure or Frozen Ever After. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train If you try to “feel it out” or change plans on the fly, the lines will already be climbing. Commit to your priority and head straight there. 5. Use Rider Swap During Early Entry If You’ve Got Littles Traveling with a toddler who’s not riding Space Mountain? Use Rider Swap during Early Entry. Here’s how it works: one adult waits with the non-rider while the other goes through the line. When they’re done, you switch—without waiting again. And yes, it’s available during Early Entry. Rider Swap sign It’s a huge time-saver for thrill rides like Flight of Passage, Smugglers Run, or TRON Lightcycle / Run, especially when both parents want to ride without sacrificing that early advantage. Bottom Line: It’s Better Than Nothing… But It Could Be Better We’ll take Early Entry over no perk at all, but we’re not going to pretend like this is the perfect solution. A full hour of early access gave families time to breathe, knock out a few rides, and avoid the worst of the crowds. With 30 minutes, you have to be strategic from the second you wake up. So yes, Early Entry is sticking around in 2026, and that’s a win—but it still feels like Disney’s giving us half a perk instead of the full experience fans are hoping for. I used to be a Disney Cast Member, and did you know that Cast Members have their own secret language at Disney World? Cast Members! It’s true! Disney World employees communicate with a secret language, and we’re going to pull back the curtain to let you in on the secret. So next time you’re at Disney World, keep an ear out and see if you can pick up on any of these codes. Before we get into it, we just want to let you know that some of these things you may want to remain blissfully unaware of…so read on at your own risk. Alright, there’s your warning, let’s get into it! Cast Members at the Magic Kingdom entrance CODE A If you hear a Cast Member calling Code A, it means a Cast Member has spotted human ashes. Yeah, you heard that right. Spreading human remains at any Disney Park is strictly against the rules, but it still happens every now and then — especially at the Haunted Mansion. If a guest does spread human remains on a ride, Cast Members will shut it down to get the ashes taken care of. Haunted Mansion Cast Members CODE 101 Mark this one down, because it’s a great one to know! Code 101 means a ride is temporarily shutting down. So, if you hear a Cast Member say the ride you’re in line for just went 101, you may want to consider heading to another queue, unfortunately. Magic Kingdom Cast Members CODE V Take a wild guess at what Code V could mean. Here’s a hint: Code V is most commonly used around spinning attractions. You’ll hear it at rides like the Mad Tea Party, or where Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and Mission Space reside (as we like to call it, EPCOT’s barf alley). Code V…V…VOMIT! If a Code V happens on a ride, the attraction may close down temporarily so it can be cleaned. Disney Cast Members in EPCOT Cast Members have numerous tasks and daily responsibilities, so they use many codes to communicate more easily with each other (and not to panic guests). Now you know, too! For more Disney tips and tricks, be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Airport security changes have been happening at a rapid pace, and they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. TSA lines at MCO Air travel inherently has some complicated or taxing procedures that can turn folks off from flying. Often, a major deterrent can be the invasive and time-consuming security process. However, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), some big security changes are on the horizon that will make the airport experience much smoother. Per the TSA, a new One Stop Security (OSS) program is being implemented to minimize the need for security screening and reduce connecting times/hassle. London Heathrow Security The OSS program allows passengers arriving in the U.S. from international airports to bypass an additional TSA screening if they are trying to catch connecting flights. In July, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines already partnered with TSA to get the ball rolling at London’s Heathrow International Airport. As the United States prepares for a significant boost from international travel due to the upcoming Olympics and FIFA World Cup events, it makes sense that the TSA is reevaluating security processes. London Heathrow Airport Per several reports, eligible passengers can bypass the standard TSA checkpoint and customs screening upon arrival in the U.S. and proceed directly to their connecting flights. Your checked baggage will automatically be transferred to the connecting flight. Eligibility varies, but Delta, for example, is limiting OSS benefits to passengers with Global Entry or Mobile Passport Control. We’ve seen the effects already take place domestically at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and more international airports are expected to be included in the program fairly soon. Always check the rules before you get to security! When asked by Fox News, TSA Deputy Administrator Adam Stahl elaborated that he expects the airline checkpoint process “to be fully automated from curb to gate” for Americans over the next three years. Stahl anticipated the process to be “fully frictionless”, “fully automated”, and “tech-enabled.” MCO Airport As we previously mentioned, it’s already been a big year for TSA security changes, including the enforcement of Real IDs on domestic flights, the complete overhaul of the shoe rule, and the inclusion of a family-centered line at certain airports, to name a few. As the trends suggest, TSA security processes will continue evolving, and you can trust us here at DFB to bring you all the latest updates! “I’ve NEVER Seen an Airport Like This” — What To Do When Everything Falls Apart Before Security Travel Updates, Tips, and Tricks Complete Guide to Booking the CHEAPEST Flight to Disney World What to Do if Your Flight to Disney World Is Canceled Our Best Tips For Flying Through the Orlando International Airport Step-by-Step Guide: How to Get to Disney World From the Orlando Airport You’re SLEEPING on These Packing Hacks Air Travel Tips That’ll Change Your Life 8 Catastrophic Travel Mistakes and How to Solve Them The Airline with the MOST Flight Delays and Cancellations This Small Change Will Save You From Lost Luggage The Best Disney Luggage for 2023 21 Things a Former Flight Attendant Needs You To Know 7 Highest-Rated Travel Items on Amazon Join the DFB Newsletter to Get All the Latest Disney News Delivered Right to Your Inbox! World Princess Week is coming up soon and will run from August 23rd through August 31st in Disney World. Moana Mini Cake Now, you know what that means. It means we get to celebrate Disney Princesses in Disney World. And how do we celebrate? By eating Disney Princess-themed snacks! Now, we’ve already found a few of these snacks in Disney World, including the Rapunzel Berries and Cream Cake and Pocahontas-themed Colors of the Wind Petit Cake, but we just tried two MORE Princess treats, and one involved quite a long wait! Okay, so let’s talk about the DRAMA we went through to get our hands on the Moana Mini Cake at Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We arrived early to grab the treat, but apparently, it’s not out for breakfast (like seriously, Disney, we wanted cake for breakfast!). We ended up waiting at the hotel for HOURS, but this beautiful creation eventually arrived, and, well, it really is GORGEOUS. For $7.49, you get a Vanilla Cake filled with Mango Mousse and covered in a wave of Glaçage, Buttercream, Fondant, and White Chocolate Décor. It’s so pretty So, honestly, we were very torn on this cake. Having waited so long for it, we had hyped it up in our minds. Now, the vanilla cake is nice and soft with a distinct vanilla flavor. The mango mousse, though, is the star of the snack, and it’s mostly concentrated in the center. But we just felt there wasn’t enough of it. There’s also a lot of buttercream to contend with, so you need to love thick buttercream icing because it completely covers the cake. In the end, what you’re paying for with this snack is the presentation and not necessarily the quality. Y’all, we’d rather just pick up a cupcake. We wanted more mango mousse Next up, we headed over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to pick up Tiana’s Mint Chocolate Chip Bar for $6.49 at Gasparilla Island Grill. It’s made with Mint Chocolate Chip Mousse with Cocoa Sablé. This one also comes with a warning because we know not everyone loves chocolate mint flavors. We will say that the mint in this isn’t overpowering, though. It strikes a nice balance between the two flavors. Tiana’s Mint Chocolate Chip Bar There’s also a little cookie on the bottom of the treat that gives it some substance, and it’s giving Oreo vibes. The texture of the treat as a whole is also going to be controversial because it’s basically like a panna cotta, and we know that’s not everyone’s jam. However, we found this to be a nice treat for the hot days of summer. Closer look at the inside Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! When it comes to Disney rides, we have all of the tips, tricks, and hacks! EPCOT Over in EPCOT, things are heating up! We’re getting ready for the park’s Food and Wine Festival, and with that, we’ve been keeping an eye on things happening over there. That’s when we started getting a little worried about these EPCOT rides. If you didn’t know, our entire team has been tracking Disney World’s wait times and ride closures for years. It’s helpful for trip planning, preparing for unexpected closures, and more. As we were checking out our weekly wait times breakdown for EPCOT, we started getting concerned. EPCOT We like to look across the last week at ride closures, and at first, it seemed pretty normal! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was down 3 times over the last week. No time down is ideal, but that’s not too bad. Gran Fiest Tour, Frozen Ever After, and Living with the Land were each down 4 times throughout the week. Again… not horrible. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Those last rides raised some red flags, sure, but it wasn’t until we started getting into these next 4 that we were getting a bit worried. Journey Into Imagination With Figment and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure both went down 6 times this past week! What is happening to our purple dragon and tiny chef that they need to take this many breaks? Are you okay, Figment? Those two weren’t the worst, though! Towards the front of the park, Journey of Water was down 7 times. This attraction, as well as others, can be unavailable for a number of reasons. Outdoor attractions can close due to weather. All attractions can close due to an emergency, ride malfunctions, or even something as simple as items falling onto the tracks. Disney rarely discloses why rides close, especially if it’s just for a short period of time during the day. Journey of Water —Inspired by Moana in EPCOT The ride that had us the most worried was the newly reopened Test Track! Test Track was down 20 times! While this might seem like a huge issue, it’s most likely growing pains. The ride just reopened on July 22nd, 2025, and it is expected that attractions take a moment to adjust when they open. (Sorry, but we are looking at you, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.) Test Track Each week, it’s expected for rides to go down. If you’re prepared for it, it won’t throw a wrench in your trip! If you’re using Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi-Pass service and your ride goes down, Disney will typically send an automatic redemption pass that you can save for when the ride reopens or you can use at a different attraction. Lightning Lanes! If you’re not using that service, you can approach it in a few ways. First, if it’s a very high priority, go talk with a Cast Member. Most likely, they won’t know exactly when the ride will reopen, but they will tell you if it’s only temporary or if you should “explore other options.” If they tell you to explore, trust them! That’s a good indicator the ride might be down for a while. If the ride is a super high priority for you and they say it’s only temporary, hang out around the entrance for a while. Frozen Ever After You also should gauge how much time you’re willing to spend waiting. If you really, really, really want to ride Cosmic Rewind, maybe wait 30 minutes and have lunch close by. If you don’t care about that ride, give it 10 to 15 minutes and then move on. While we love to skip a long line by hopping in right when the ride reopens, it isn’t worth wasting your park day. Cosmic Rewind lines Wait times can make or break your park day, but if you know how to handle them, you’ll have no problem! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more ride closure alerts and Disney news. Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World What ride is your favorite in EPCOT? The daily flag retreat ceremony in Disneyland park – a beloved tradition since opening day – is one of the many ways we salute those who have served our country, both veterans and those in active duty. It’s not every day that we get to honor a Purple Heart recipient, let alone 11. Disneyland Resort Honors Purple Heart Recipients On National Purple Heart Day, August 7, Disneyland Resort hosted 11 veterans who have received the prestigious medal in a special version of our daily flag retreat ceremony. Joined by their families for a day of fun at Disneyland Resort, the honorees surrounded the flagpole in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A., hands proudly held over their hearts, as a voiceover paid tribute to “their incredible courage and immense sacrifice while defending freedom.” After the meaningful ceremony, they were each gifted an American flag placed inside a shadow box in gratitude for their service to our nation. “It’s a huge honor for us to be here… recognizing those who were wounded making a sacrifice for our country to maintain our freedom and get to enjoy days like this in remembrance,” said Marine Corps Maj. Darryl Ellis. “The recognition that The Walt Disney Company and Disneyland has of our veteran community means the world.” Inside Disney’s Legacy of Saluting Service The daily flag retreat ceremony at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom parks reflects the spirit of service that has long been part of Disney’s legacy and dates back to the company’s founding 100 years ago, with Walt and Roy O. Disney both having served their country during World War I. This heartfelt way of honoring National Purple Heart Day underscores Disney’s enduring admiration and gratitude for veterans and military families, paying tribute to those who have displayed extraordinary courage in the line of duty. Specially Priced Military Offers Create Happiness Year-Round Other ways we salute military service members and veterans year-round include multiple Disneyland Resort offers, including 1-day tickets and multi-day tickets. These offers are valid through a U.S. military base ticket office, and eligible U.S. military service members can purchase via GOVX.com. Also not to miss: special rates for military personnel at both Disneyland Resort hotels and our Good Neighbor Hotels. Planning tip: Whether you’re visiting with a specially priced military ticket or another Disneyland Resort offer, be sure to plan ahead and check the theme park reservation availability calendar to see if your desired date and theme park are currently available before purchasing a ticket. A theme park reservation will be required for each day of the visit, subject to availability, and can be made up to 180 days in advance. planDisney Panelist Reflects on Life as a Military Spouse READ MORE Disney Creates Happiness for Families of Fallen Military Heroes READ MORE Veteran Portraits by President George W. I go to Disney World a lot. More than most people. I don’t say this to brag — if anything, I go too much. But when you go to the parks as often as I do, you tend to become a little souvenir blind. What does that mean? Well, I’ve seen new t-shirts come and go. I’ve seen more new ears, park bags, and plush characters than I can count. After a while, it all starts to blur together. I’ve gone numb. You can’t impress me with a basic Spirit Jersey, Disney! EPCOT But on my recent visit to EPCOT, something came over me. I splurged on not one, but TWO big souvenirs. And we’re not talking silly little $20 trinkets. I went big. It was a rush. Wanna see what I got? Welcome to Madeleine’s EPCOT haul. First, I’ll show you where I went shopping, because unless you’re a Disney expert, the names Il Bel Cristallo and La Gemma Elegante probably wouldn’t ring any bells. I visited the gift shops at the front of the Italy Pavilion. These aren’t your typical Disney gift shops — most of the merchandise is from Italy (duh), so it’s less Mickey stuffed animals and more scarves, perfume, and purses. ©Disney I’ll start with my experience at Il Bel Cristallo. In all truthfulness, I was lured in by a sign outside touting complimentary perfume bottle engraving. Working at Disney Food Blog, I knew this service existed (we love to tell people about it since it’s such a unique souvenir), but this was one of the rare occasions I was in EPCOT during a session. SCORE! Here’s what I got! During my visit, you could get Dolce & Gabbana bottles engraved for FREE. Depending on the artist, time of your visit, and availability, you might have different options! (This service is also available in the France Pavilion from time to time!) Complimentary Engraving Here’s a look at some of the engraving options. You can get a Disney-inspired design engraved or ask for the artist to write your name or initials. And yes, this is FREE. All you have to pay for is the perfume bottle itself. And by the way, the perfume bottles are refillable, so you can keep your custom bottle on your vanity forever! Here are a few possible designs! Now, I wasn’t actually buying the perfume bottle for myself; this is a gift! I went with option #11 because who doesn’t love flowers, right? These are so fun! The process was quick and easy! I filled out a form, paid for the perfume, and came back in a few minutes to pick up my perfume bottle. It’s that simple! Ta-da! But that wasn’t my only splurge of the day. In a strange turn of events, I found myself invited to a masquerade ball (yes, really), so I needed a mask for the event. That’s not the sort of thing you can pick up at Target, but lucky for me, EPCOT has a store FULL of masks! I headed over to La Gemma Elegante with one mission: obtain a mask fit for a ball. Venetian Masks The dress code for the event called for a black, white, or silver mask, and the Cast Member in EPCOT was SO kind and helpful. I showed her my dress, and she worked her magic. She explained that every mask fits a little differently and helped me find one that fit my face shape. This is the one I chose; do you like it? Did I expect to walk out of EPCOT with a masquerade mask and a bottle of perfume? Definitely not. But I’m so glad I did! You truly never know where your day in Disney World will take you — it’s why I keep going back. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Disneyland’s “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” may soon fall temporarily silent. Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland While Disney has yet to make an official announcement, a look at the Disneyland park calendar indicates that the Frontierland staple, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, will be closing for refurbishment early next month. Currently, Big Thunder has operating hours through September 1st, Labor Day. Beginning on September 2nd through mid-September (the furthest the calendar goes as of publishing time), the ride has no operating hours, indicating an upcoming closure. ©Disney If Big Thunder does close, it would join its Magic Kingdom counterpart on the refurbishment calendar, as the Disney World version of the attraction has been unavailable since January while undergoing a massive refurbishment of its own. In my 6+ years of covering Disney theme parks, I can’t recall too many instances of the same attractions closed for refurbishment at both Disneyland and Disney World at the same time. Big Thunder Mountain construction June 16th, 2025 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been one of the “Happiest Place on Earth’s” main attractions since the Tony Baxter-designed coaster first opened at the park in 1979. Interestingly, the concept wasn’t even meant for Disneyland initially, as Baxter’s first designs of the coaster were as an ancillary ride to the Magic Kingdom’s never-built Western River Expedition. Disney World would get its own version of the ride in 1980, followed by Tokyo Disneyland in 1987 and Disneyland Paris in 1992. Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland The Disneyland calendar indicates that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closing next month, with no reopening date yet announced. The 2025 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival kicks off August 28th and runs through November 22nd, and there’s a lot more to it than just strolling around World Showcase with a drink in hand. 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival From exclusive eats and returning fan-favorite booths to live music and limited-edition merch, the Festival is PACKED with options — and your day can get overwhelming fast if you show up without a plan. Before you start mapping out your booth-hopping strategy, here are a few things you’ll want to know so you can hit the ground running when the Festival opens later this month. Study Those Menus Ahead of Time There’s no shame in planning your booth order like it’s your Fantasy Football draft. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival has a ton of Global Marketplaces (aka booths), each with a unique menu of bites and sips. Some of these booths are returning classics, others are brand new for 2025, and a few won’t open until later in the season. That means what’s available on opening day might look a bit different from what you’ll find in October or November. Milled & Mulled Full Spread Menus are released ahead of time, and trust us, you do not want to wing it when you’re standing in the sun trying to decide between Brazilian cheese bread or that one impossible-to-pronounce drink from the Greece booth. Review the full booth list and menus online before your visit, and make a short list of must-try items. And yes, prices are posted in advance too — which makes it a lot easier to stick to your budget (or at least pretend you’re going to). Bonus tip: Some of the more popular booths can get slammed midday. If there’s something you really want, hit those booths early or later in the evening when lines die down. 2025 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Booths, Menus, and FOOD PHOTOS The Eat to the Beat Concerts Aren’t Just Background Noise You might be laser-focused on the food and drink, but the Eat to the Beat Concert Series deserves your attention, too. These performances happen nightly at the America Gardens Theatre, and the lineup includes everything from classic throwback acts to more current artists. Some names return every year, and others are brand-new for the 2025 season. If there’s a band you have to see, check the performance schedule ahead of time — popular shows fill up FAST. Eat to the Beat Concert Series If you’re not in the mood to camp out in the Florida heat for a spot, there’s a workaround: Eat to the Beat Dining Packages. These allow you to book a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant and get guaranteed seating at the concert. Think of it like dinner and a show — with air conditioning and no mad dash for a seat. Dining Packages usually open up for reservations early, and the popular ones get scooped up quickly. If you’re interested, keep an eye on booking dates so you don’t miss your shot. Check out the FULL Eat to the Beat Concert Series Line-Up! Yes, Festival Merch Is a Thing — Plan For It We know, you’re probably thinking your money is already fully committed to food and drinks, but don’t sleep on Festival merchandise. EPCOT loves a limited-edition collection, and Food and Wine is one of their biggest seasons for it. You’ll see everything from spirit jerseys and Loungefly bags to themed kitchenware, pins, mugs, and collectible MagicBands. Some of it’s cute, some of it’s over-the-top, and all of it tends to sell FAST once the Festival is underway. CommuniCore Hall during Food and Wine 2024 The best way to avoid overspending or impulse buying? Budget ahead. Look through previews of the merch online before your trip and decide what’s actually worth it for you. If you know you’re a pin collector or have a soft spot for Figment gear, make sure to build that into your overall budget. And if you see something you love in the park, buy it when you see it — Festival merch doesn’t always get restocked. FIRST LOOK at This Year’s EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Merchandise The Bottom Line The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival can be an amazing experience — if you go in with a plan. Review the menus ahead of time so you’re not overwhelmed at the booths, check out the concert schedule and book any dining packages early, and figure out if that limited-edition cutting board is coming home with you before you’re three drinks deep. The Festival has so much to offer, and a little prep can go a long way toward making your day more fun and less stressful. Full Spread at Greece! Okay, there is a LOT of construction happening in Disney World. In the parks, Magic Kingdom is getting a new expansion and a new land, plus two rides are getting updated. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, an area is getting updated, and a new land is being constructed. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new land is on the way. Yep, there are construction walls EVERYWHERE. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney World hotels are also undergoing quite a bit of construction right now. In fact, recently, a total of FOUR hotels have announced closures due to refurbishment and construction work. Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Contempo Cafe, the hotel’s quick service dining location, is currently under construction. The construction is expected to last through mid-October. However, the work will take place between 2 PM and 5 PM each day, so it shouldn’t affect peak dining hours. However, you may hear construction noise during this time. Contempo Cafe Note that if you’re ordering food at this time, you might want to consider using Mobile Order to get it to go if you don’t want to hear construction noise while you’re eating. Contempo Cafe Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will also be undergoing some refurbishment work. The Cabanas leisure pool will be closed from August 17th through August 24th for routine maintenance. Note that this isn’t the main pool at the resort, which will remain open, along with the other leisure pools located there. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Disney’s Pop Century Resort is going to have quite a bit of construction happening. Not only are the rooms at Pop Century getting an update (construction will last through February 2026), but the hotel’s lobby is getting a “retro-inspired refresh.“ The lobby work will last through October 2025, so keep that in mind if you have a stay booked there. Disney’s Pop Century Resort Finally, you can expect to see some construction work happening over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney World announced that the rooms at Kidani Village will be undergoing refurbishment from October 2025 through May 2026, while Jambo House rooms will be refurbished from May 2026 through January 2027. In addition, the Zebra Trail terrace work is currently scheduled to end in September 2025. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge During these refurbishments, you can expect to see and hear construction during the day. If you plan on spending any time at your hotel during the day, you may want to avoid these hotels until their construction is complete. A transformation is coming very soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios is about to go through a major transformation over the next few months. With Monsters Inc. Land, a new Smugglers Run mission, a Muppets takeover at Rock ‘n Rollercoaster, and the new Animation Courtyard, there is going to be a lot happening. Get ready to see construction begin, and, yes, a big new construction crane at Hollywood Studios! Disney Imagineering just filed a permit for utilizing a large crane at Animation Courtyard. It was announced not too long ago that the Animation Courtyard will be fully reimagined into the Walt Disney Studios Lot. This rethemed area will feature new experiences, including a transformation of the Star Wars Launch Bay into The Magic of Disney Animation. Look — THE SORCERER MICKEY HAT IS BACK! (sort of.) ©Disney As we mentioned, a permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, which lists North American Crane & Rigging LLC as the contractor. The scope of work listed is “site modifications.” Looking even deeper into things, the address that is listed on the permit is the Hollywood Studios archway, the entrance into Animation Courtyard. Construction permit ©Orange County, Florida Now, Disney has used cranes all over its parks and resorts, but it’s not often we see permits associated with this type of equipment. Could this mean that the crane will be EXTRA large? We’ll be watching as construction unfolds. ©Disney The North American Crane & Rigging LLC is not new to Disney World. The company has been used for big Disney World projects before, including the long Astro Orbiter refurb at Magic Kingdom. The way we picture it, the crane could be placed in the middle of Animation Courtyard, and work around the whole area. We’ll have to wait and see, though! Astro Orbiter! When looking at what’s to come for the new area, we’re thinking a crane will have to be used to install the Sorcerer Mickey Hat where Launch Bay currently sits. That’s a big hat, after all! ©Disney At this time, it’s too soon to determine the crane’s official use and which parts of the construction won’t necessarily require a crane. If Disney drops more concept art and plans, it’ll all start to make more sense. Some of the crane usage might be used for backstage work as well. Animation Courtyard The brand-new Magic of Disney Animation area is set to open to guests in 2026, which will honestly be here sooner than we think. The Animation Courtyard, as we know it, will close September 25th, so enjoy Launch Bay while it’s still here. The new “Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” will remain open during this time. Béis luggage has been everywhere lately, from social media to airport terminals. However, if you are considering making the investment in these bags, you should be aware of a few key points. ©BÉIS With their sleek design, huge popularity, and savvy features, it’s easy to see why so many people decide to splurge on this luggage. After spending $270 on a Béis luggage, we have a few things to share with you before you “Add to Cart”. If you’re thinking of investing in this ultra-aesthetic travel gear, here are four things we wish someone had told us first. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. 1. The Weekender Bag Hurts (When It’s Full) The Weekender Bag might look like the perfect travel companion with its structure and stylish design. But once it’s actually packed, it’s a whole different story. The bag gets heavy, and with its stiff structure and shorter straps, it can be surprisingly uncomfortable to carry through airports or hotel lobbies. Add in the bottom shoe compartment and you’re dealing with a bulky, shoulder-digging load. It’s gorgeous, sure, but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s effortless to lug around when full. ©BEIS View The Weekender on BEIS 2. The Colors Sell Out Fast If you’re set on a specific color, especially to match other luggage or accessories, act fast. Béis regularly drops limited-edition or seasonal colors, and they often sell out quickly. We’ve learned the hard way that waiting even a few days to “think it over” can mean missing out completely. If aesthetics are important to you, just know that your favorite shade might not stick around for long. ©BEIS View the Large Check-In Roller on Beis 3. The Warranty Isn’t as Generous as It Sounds Béis offers a “limited lifetime warranty,” which sounds amazing until you read the fine print. While cracks in the hard shell are covered, dents and cosmetic damage are not. And that “lifetime” refers to the expected life of the luggage itself, not your lifetime as a customer. So if your suitcase gets scuffed, dinged, or banged up from regular travel, which it likely will, don’t count on a full replacement. It’s better than nothing, but definitely not as comprehensive as you might assume. ©BÉIS 4. The Bags Run a Bit Too Big The size of the bag matters when you’re dealing with strict airline baggage policies, and Béis bags can push the limits. The Carry-On Roller is slightly larger than what some airlines allow, even though we haven’t personally run into issues, it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re flying with low-cost carriers or internationally. The Weekender bag, meanwhile, is generally too large to qualify as a personal item unless you remove the shoe compartment. While you can make it work, it may not slide under the seat as neatly as expected. ©BEIS View the Carry On Suitcase on BEIS For more travel tips, be sure to follow DFB! It’s almost time to get spooky in Disney World! Mickey at his very own 2024 Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off on August 15th, 2025, and we are ready! We’ve planned out all the snacks we’re grabbing, our parade watching spot, and costumes (because you can wear costumes to the party). One sign that the Halloween season is drawing near is decorations starting to materialize around Magic Kingdom, and today we finally got a hint of them! This morning, as we were hitting up our daily monorail ride at the Transportation and Ticket Center, we noticed a small change with big implications! The first hint that Halloween is creeping in soon was hanging up! The first sign of spooky season! It featured Mickey and Minnie on a sign all about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, along with some hay bales and buckets of fall leaves. We were really, really hoping that this was just a sign as to what we were going to spot once we entered Magic Kingdom! Sadly, we were disappointed. (We’re holding back tears if you can’t tell.) Main Street, U.S.A. While we were hoping for pumpkins, fall decor, and more, we just got the classic (but still gorgeous) Main Street. There was an additional sign for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary near the exit for the monorail just before you head into the park, with a few more tiny pumpkins, leaves, and hay bales. A sign in front of Magic! We know that Halloween decor should be popping up any day now in the Magic Kingdom because Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party starts in ONE WEEK! While we prefer it when Disney does the complete overnight flip for the holidays, over the past few years, they’ve added a few hints here and there before the total transformation. If they follow suit from last year, decor will go up roughly 4 days before the party starts (and last year they did it in a hurricane). Halloween in Magic Kingdom from 2024 In 2023, the Halloween decorations went up on July 31st before the party started on August 11th. So, Disney, you’ve got a few more days before we expect full pumpkin mania, but be warned! We do expect it. We are chomping at the bit for this year’s after hours holiday parties to begin, and you can be sure we will be there opening night to cover every detail. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, and tips! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Are you excited about these decorations?
