  1. Film is almost finished at the Dr. Phillips CineDome at Orlando Science Center. The museum is moving into the digital age, and the final reel-to-reel viewings are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. The renovated eight-story space will be outfitted with a new domed screen, audio system, seats and an 8k full-dome digital projection system with up to 10 projectors. Since the Loch Haven Park museum opened in 1997, visitors have been able to watch giant reels of film loaded into the Iwerks projector in a glass-enclosed, climate-controlled room on the ground floor. The projector then glides upward 18 feet to pop out in a central location among the theater seats to start the show. “It’s something that was cutting edge in 1997, and now it’s a museum piece,” said Jeff Stanford, vice president of marketing. Technology has advanced and the science center is one of the last giant-screen theaters in the U.S. to be using film. That has resulted in limitations as to what can be seen in the CineDome. Amy Quesinberry, director of theaters at Orlando Science Center, talks about the end of an era at CineDome, which is hosting its last movies on film this Tuesday. The is upgrading the 8-story-tall theater from its 28-year-old, iWorks film system to an all-digital venue. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel)“We’re tied in right now to whatever’s been created on film. That is this format,” said Amy Quesinberry, director of theaters. The film show is in the 15/70 format, indicating 70 mm film stock, twice as big as standard film. The 15 indicates the number of performations found on each frame, and the result is taller, more immersive images. “There is no new creation of content unless you are going to pay about $120,000, and there’s really no museum out there that has just $120,000 on their own,” Quesinberry said. The final films shown in the CineDome will be “Living Sea,” which was the first feature shown there 28 years ago, and “Everest,” a 1998 documentary, narrated by actor Liam Neeson, that took in $128 million at the box office. The theater and projector have had good runs, although maintenance has become more challenging, Quesinberry said. “It’s been pretty reliable,” she said. “We’ve had igniters that have to be repaired. The actual lamp has to be replaced every 1,200 hours. It’s about $6,000 just for a lamp.” The new Griffyn Christie laser projector is “one of the top line projectors that you can get right now,” she said. Quesinberry said she started as a volunteer in the John Young Planetarium, which was next door in the building now named the Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Later, she was part of the team that launched the CineDome and remembers her first showing of “Living Sea,” which has songs by Sting and narration by Meryl Streep. “Then there’s these crazy jellyfish,” Quesinberry said. “Next thing I know, I’m watching this lady, like, dive into the water. … And she’s like, ‘Yeah, this is all for science. Nobody should be going where I’m going.’ …And she can’t stay down there very long. And she’s diving into where these jellyfish are, you know, to learn about this?” Later, she took a job with a company that installs planetariums and theaters, which took her to sites in Greece, Switzerland, South Africa, Egypt, China and elsewhere. One job was adding a planetarium to the 13th deck of the Queen Elizabeth 2. She returned to the science center in 2012, and with the renovation will see planetarium shows and laser-light shows return to the museum. The shows, a hallmark of Orlando life back in the day, have been out of the lineup for about 10 years. The laser projectors and the new surface of the dome will help the space achieve “pure blacks” for viewings. “I don’t think it’s just a movie theater,” Quesinberry said. “It’s actually a learning environment.” Guests leave the 300-seat Dr. Phillips CineDome after a full house for a showing of 'The Living Sea.' The 162.5-degree screen provides an immersive environment. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel)The science center has targeted next spring for the reopening. Dr. Phillips Charities is making a $1 million dollar donation to the museum’s Unlock Science campaign for the renovation. The theater will be known as the Dome by Dr. Phillips Charities. The daily CineDome film schedule through Tuesday will be “Dolphins” at 11 a.m., “The Living Sea” at 12:15 p.m. and “Everest” at 2:45 p.m. The films are included with regular admission to the science center. 2. Disney and actress Gina Carano have come to an agreement regarding their legal dispute. ©Disney The actress filed a lawsuit that was funded by Elon Musk against The Walt Disney Company after she was fired in 2021 from the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Disney claimed that the actress was fired after she made the decision to “trivialize the Holocaust” due to certain comments made by the actress. Carano stated that she had been unfairly targeted and bullied by the company, and since then, there has been a lot of back and forth with the legal dispute. Now that dispute seems to be over. Disney moved to have the lawsuit dismissed in April 2024, “on the grounds that Disney has a constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano’s speech, such that the First Amendment provides a complete defense to Carano’s claims.” The actress clapped back, though a month later, stating that the company did not have “carte blanche authority.” Walt Disney Company Headquarters in Burbank Now, over a year later, Variety reports that Disney and Carano have settled their dispute. Lucasfilm made the following statement: “The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.” ©Disney After Carano’s firing, she was also dropped as a client by United Talent Agency as a client. She filed her lawsuit in 2024, claiming wrongful termination and discrimination, with a demand that she should be recast in The Mandalorian and awarded $75,000 in damages. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 3. It’s World Princess Week, and you know what that means! It’s World Princess Week! Disney World is celebrating with some limited-time treats! Several new and returning Princess-themed snacks for your favorite heroines just popped up all around Disney World, and we’re heading to Amorette’s Patisserie to try a NEW dessert! We stopped by Amorette’s Patisseries to grab the new Colors of the Wind Petit Cake for World Princess Week! It’s available for $22 and is made with almond chiffon, cherry jam, citrus mousse, and chocolate shavings. Sounds like an intriguing combination! Colors of the Wind Petit Cake This was one of the better petit cakes we have had! Our reporter, who tried it, is not a huge fan of fondant, which the petit cakes usually have. Luckily, it is usually a pretty thin layer, and you can easily eat around it. It does make it a bit difficult to cut and eat, but it does make them look polished! It’s also definitely shareable! We would probably recommend grabbing a buddy and eating it pretty quickly after you buy, as it melts pretty fast. So many layers The flavor combinations in this cake are really good! The almond flavor isn’t overwhelming at all, which we feel like it can sometimes be, but you can still taste it. Cherry is one of the more prominent flavors, but it is a fresh-tasting cherry, not a fake cherry flavor. The citrus flavor is very light. We really loved the texture of the chocolate shavings in the cake! It added a great crunch amidst a lot of softness. You will want to be a fan of almond and cherry flavors, but if you are, we think you will love this cake! Colors of the Wind Petit Cake We’ll be reviewing even more World Princess Week treats from around Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney food reviews and more! 4. You might be breaking a Disney rule without even realizing it. Wandering Reindeer The Norway Pavilion in EPCOT has become a popular escape hatch for overheated or rain-drenched guests. There’s one spot in particular that looks like a public space — but it’s not. If you’re not careful, you could get kicked out (politely, of course) by a Cast Member who’s just trying to keep the area clear. Let’s talk about The Wandering Reindeer — a cozy-looking gift shop nestled at the back of the Norway Pavilion, right near the Frozen meet and greet. If you’ve ever stumbled in there during a sudden Florida downpour or while desperately searching for air conditioning, you’re not alone. Wandering Reindeer But here’s the thing: that shop is technically not open to the general public the way most EPCOT gift shops are. It’s actually the exit for the Anna and Elsa meet and greet. That’s it. That’s its whole job. So if you weren’t just in there hugging a royal sister from Arendelle, you’re not really supposed to be inside. What People Think It Is vs. What It Actually Is From the outside, The Wandering Reindeer looks like a typical World Showcase shop. It has merch displays, cute decor, and—most importantly—air conditioning. It feels like a spot where it’s totally fine to hang out for a few minutes and recover from the heat. Wandering Reindeer But it’s not a full-functioning store like the ones next to it. It’s a themed exit. And the moment you walk in from the wrong direction (ahem… the entrance side), you’re technically entering through an “exit only” space. And Disney Cast Members notice. Why It Happens Every Day Let’s be real: there’s a ton of signage all over the parks, and not all of it is crystal clear. Especially when it’s 95 degrees and you’re sweating through your socks, you’re just trying to survive. Wandering Reindeer People wander in accidentally (or intentionally) all the time. Sometimes they’re trying to shortcut into the meet and greet area. Sometimes they’re just ducking in to escape a storm or grab a breather in the A/C. It’s understandable — but that doesn’t make it allowed. What Disney Cast Members Are Told to Do If you stick around too long, you’ll probably be asked to leave. And don’t be surprised — that’s literally what Cast Members are supposed to do. They’ll give you a polite heads-up that this isn’t an open space for guests to hang out in. They may even escort you back out the way you came in. It’s not because they’re trying to be rude — it’s just part of the show. Royal Sommerhus entrance The Anna and Elsa meet and greet is designed with a one-way flow. You enter from the front, meet the characters, exit through The Wandering Reindeer, and move along. When people reverse that flow or loiter too long, it clogs things up and breaks the intended experience. Why This Rule Exists The rule is there for a reason. The Wandering Reindeer isn’t set up for browsing or lingering. It’s laid out to handle a stream of guests leaving a meet and greet, not guests entering without a clear purpose. Anna and Elsa must have told the guards to open up the gates! Plus, the doors to that shop are meant to be exit-only doors. They swing a certain way. When guests push their way in, they’re literally working against how the space is meant to function. It also gets crowded fast. And in Disney, crowded spaces = unhappy guests, unhappy Cast Members, and potential safety issues. What You Should Do Instead If you need a break from the heat or rain while in the Norway Pavilion, head over to The Fjording (the actual retail shop next door). That one is open to everyone and has plenty of Frozen merch and AC to enjoy without stepping on any character-exit toes. Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe Or grab a snack from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and find a shady spot outside. If you need a true indoor break, head toward the Mexico Pavilion or backtrack toward the front of the park. There are plenty of legitimate places to cool off without risking a “hey, you can’t be in here” conversation. Bottom Line You’re probably not going to get kicked out of Disney World over this. But walking into the Wandering Reindeer when you’re not supposed to is technically against the rules, and yes — people do it every single day. Now that you know, you can skip the awkward exit and keep your park day running smoothly. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips. UPDATE: Here’s the New Rule for Rope Dropping in EPCOT Have you ever wandered into The Wandering Reindeer thinking it was just a shop? Let us know in the comments below. 5. You know what one of the best parts of being a Disney World Annual Passholder is? The perks! Of course, we’re excited to get into the parks without having to purchase a new ticket every time. But there’s something extra thrilling about exclusive merchandise, discounts on restaurants, or the occasional free magnet. And right now, there’s an Annual Passholder exclusive snack in Animal Kingdom! Now through September 27th, Annual Passholders can head to Dino-Bite Snacks at Animal Kingdom to pick up an exclusive sweet treat! To match the Crush-themed magnet currently at Discovery Trading Company, you can snag the Totally Sweet Sundae. A new sweet treat! For $9.29, this sundae comes with butter pecan ice cream topped with hot fudge, caramel, candied pecans, and whipped cream. It’s garnished with sea blue sugar and served in a white chocolate-dipped waffle bowl. And ours had a tiny decorative Crush from Finding Nemo on top! Keep in mind, when you order Annual Passholder treats in the parks, you typically have to show your pass and your ID. Looks delish! The ice cream is really the star here with a rich, sweet flavor that’s not too overwhelmingly sugary. The caramel sauce adds a little extra sweetness as well as a slight salty touch. Add in the pecans, and you’ve got the texture element covered with a little extra chew in each bite. Delicious! Yummy! The toppings are pretty basic with a sugar detail and a white chocolate coin. There’s additional white chocolate on the dipped waffle bowl. The bowl itself was crispy and lightly sweetened, but it can be a LOT of additional food to eat if you’re trying to do this snack solo. If you want to eat the bowl too, we recommend sharing! The sundae All in all, we’d totally recommend this snack as something to try during your next trip to Animal Kingdom! It’s refreshing and will definitely fulfill your sweet tooth. A great summer treat! And don’t forget to snag your Crush magnet while you’re at it. Don’t forget the magnet! We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop if there are more Annual Passholder exclusives announced for Disney World. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates from Disney World! 7. In many ways, celebrities are just like us — they love Disney! That means we’re often spotting celebrities in the parks, and we’re talking HUGE celebrities like Charlize Theron, Josh Gad, Neil Patrick Harris, and more. Disney Wonder However, recently, one celebrity took a Disney Cruise and he was honestly so blown away by the experience that he went on social media and “sang” its praises (hint hint!) Do you know who it is? Well, keep reading to find out. Like we said, this celebrity SANG the praises of his Disney Cruise. If you haven’t figured out who it is yet, well, we’ll tell you…it’s Grammy Award-winning artist Michael Bublé! Okay, so Bublé is no stranger to Disney. Like us, he’s a longtime Disney fan. In 2024, the performer visited Disney World and shared some photos from Disney’s Hollywood Studios enjoying Rise of the Resistance and Tower of Terror. Tower of Terror Bublé recently took to Instagram to post about how much fun he just had on a Disney Cruise. He and his family took a cruise on the Disney Wonder to Alaska, and Bublé posted photos and wrote about how much he enjoyed his cruise experience. In his social media post, he wrote: “My family and I just went on a Disney cruise to Alaska and it was unreal!! Every part of the experience exceeded our expectations. I’m not exaggerating when I say, the staff, the food, and all of our fellow passengers totally rocked .” ©Michael Bublé/Instagram He continued. “If you ever have the opportunity to go with your family I highly recommend it. (Hilariously this is definitely not an Ad but it sure does sound like one reading this back ) I just genuinely loved everything about it so much I had to give props where they were due. We’re already trying to figure out how to get back on that boat again! Thank you to everyone who we met, danced, ate, and hung with on our trip to Alaska.” ©Michael Bublé/Instagram Well, if we weren’t already fans of Disney Cruise Line, that would certainly convince us! We’re so happy that Bublé and his family enjoyed their experience. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 8. The 2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is almost here, and here at Disney Food Blog, we’ve been counting down the days. I’ve been waiting for menus for a few months now, and I’m so ready to grab the iconic Festival Passport, like I do every year, and dive into the foods. Emile’s Fromage Montage One of my favorite parts is Emile’s Fromage Montage, a chance to eat different cheese-themed items at various festival booths and receive a special prize at the end. It’s a perfect cheese crawl! Disney just released three cheese-themed dishes returning this year! One returning dish will be a Fall Fruit Cheesecake featuring Boursin Fig & Balsamic Cheese with Pomegranates and Candied Pecans. You can find this at the Milled & Mulled booth. Boursin Fig & Balsamic Cheesecake with fig jam and pomegranate This is so much fun! While it does melt fast, we were obsessed with the fig and balsamic flavors connecting with the cheesecake, and we’re excited to try it again. It’s also SO pretty. YUM! At the Brazil booth, you can grab the Pão de Queijo, which is Brazilian Cheese Bread. Pão de Queijo: Brazilian cheese bread It’s cheese bread! Need I say more? It’s served warm, packed with cheese, and is the perfect amount of chewy and just a smidge greasy. It’s fluffy and light and is one we love to order all year round. Pão de Queijo: Brazilian cheese bread The last part of this sneak peek is at the Greece booth, which has Griddled Cheese with Pistachios and Honey. Don’t forget your stamp! Depending on the year, this can be a favorite or a skip, but in 2024, it was delicious. The cheese is ooey and gooey and mixed well with the sweetness and honey of the pistachios. Griddled Cheese with pistachios and honey from the Greece Booth For the different cheese-themed items, you’ll receive a stamp in your Festival Passport, and once you get five, you can head to the Shimmering Sips Marketplace for a free specialty snack. In the past, it’s been a strawberry cheesecake in a souvenir cup. Prize from Emile’s Fromage Montage 2022 During this cheese crawl, you’ll need to get five stamps, but it can be any five stamps. If you want to eat five of the same snack, you can! You also don’t have to buy them all on the same day. If you’re coming back for multiple days, you can bring your passport and continue to get more stamps. Just make sure you get your prize by the end of the festival. Our completed passport! I’m here to answer all of your dying questions that you’re too embarrassed to ask, because trust me, I have wondered the same thing. Let me see if I can answer some of these questions for you! Do I have to pay for Disney transportation? Nope! You can take the Skyliner, monorail, buses, and boats all for free, even if you aren’t staying on Disney property. The only transportation you have to pay for through Disney is Minnie Vans, which is Disney’s partnership with Lyft. Besides that, it doesn’t cost any money, and you don’t even have to show your park ticket. Skyliner How thrilling are the thrill rides? In general, not crazy! At Disney World, the only roller coaster that goes upside down is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (and it’s about to be rethemed to the Muppets, by the way). There are a few rides that have drops like Tower of Terror and Rise of the Resistance, but most roller coasters are on the tamer side. Cosmic Rewind might trigger your motion sickness since it’s very spinny, but with most other roller coasters, you can get a full look at them before you hop on. Tower of Terror Where are the bathrooms? Disney is pretty good about labeling the bathrooms around the parks, so if you’re walking about, you should see signs. If not, you can pull out the My Disney Experience app, which will show you the closest bathroom or bathrooms near your destination. Bathrooms Where do I park for Magic Kingdom? The only park you can’t park at is Magic Kingdom, and that can get a little confusing! For Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, you can follow the signs for parking, but for Magic Kingdom, you’ll have to park at the Transportation & Ticket Center or TTC. There will be signs directing you to the Magic Kingdom parking lot (it’s just actually the TTC). At the TTC, you can hop on the monorail or ferryboat to Magic Kingdom, and you can also take the monorail to EPCOT. Monorail at Transportation and Ticket Center Can I bring in my own food or drinks? Yes! My backpack is always stuffed with snacks along with a full bottle of water. Drinks don’t need to be sealed, but you cannot bring any alcohol into the parks (and you’ll have to finish any drinks before leaving the parks). Feel free to bring formula, your favorite snacks, and even a cooler. Make sure your cooler is within the size requirement, and it requires ice packs, not loose or dry ice, and is subject to search. Make sure you save room for snacks in the parks, too Do I need a MagicBand? Nope! MagicBands are those fun bracelets you might see people wearing around the parks. You can use them to scan into the parks, at attractions if you’re using Lightning Lanes, and even to make purchases or get into their hotel rooms. While these can make life a little easier (and they’re pretty cute), if you have a physical card with your ticket, which you’ll get when you scan in for the first time, or your phone, it’s an add-on and not a necessity. MagicBand+ Can I go to any park I want to with my ticket? Well, it will depend on your ticket. If you buy a single-day ticket, you can use it at any one of the parks (but read up on the terms and conditions of your ticket to make sure you have access to all four). If you add on something called a Park Hopper, this lets you go from one park to the next all day. For example, if you started at Magic Kingdom and wanted to go to EPCOT, you can use the same ticket to scan in. Single-day tickets only let you go to that one park a day, but you can go in and out of that park as much as you want if you want to take breaks at the hotel room. GUIDE TO WALT DISNEY WORLD THEME PARK TICKETS Do you need a Park Hopper? What times are the shows? Another one you’ll want to check out on the My Disney Experience app. All the different showtimes are listed, and you can even search for the entertainment you want to see. You’ll want to check those times before heading in because sometimes they randomly change, but for the most part, they stay the same every day. Disney Starlight — Whimsy! Can I get in line for any ride I want? If you reach the height requirement, you can hop into any line. At this current moment, there are no virtual queues, and if you want to ride an attraction, you can enter the standby line. If there is a virtual queue, which is a way of waiting outside the physical line and then returning when your time is called, you can find that information on the homescreen of the My Disney Experience app. Frozen Ever After Is that Chip or Dale? Hey, I get it. It’s easy to mix them up! Dale is going to be the one with the red nose, and Chip is the one with the brown nose. To remember this, think of a chocolate chip since it’s brown like Chip’s nose! Chip and Dale How are we feeling now? More comfortable? If you have any other questions, no matter how silly they might seem, drop them in the comments. 12. When you’re choosing a Walt Disney World resort, dining options are a major part of the vibe—especially if you love escaping the parks for a chill meal. There are dozens of restaurants scattered across the resorts, and some real culinary gems fly under the radar. Even if your whole trip revolves around park days, a late lunch or dinner at your hotel can be a game‑changer. Dining room with shades Curious which resort restaurants are worth booking—and which are better off skipped? We’ve got you covered with the latest must‑book spots and the ones that feel meh. You don’t have to stay at a Disney resort to snag a reservation—many of these dining rooms welcome off‑site visitors. After all, you’re paying for the experience just as much as the meal. Best Table Service Restaurants at Disney World Hotels California Grill If you want dinner with a view and a serious upgrade from typical theme park eats, California Grill is still the crown jewel. Perched at the top of the Contemporary Resort, this signature spot serves a 3-course prix fixe menu ($89/adult, $39/kid) that rotates seasonally. Sonoma Goat Cheese Cappelletti You’ll find standouts like the Sonoma Goat Cheese Cappelletti (still dreamy in its revamped form) and the oak-grilled filet—juicy, tender, and absolutely worth the hype. The sourdough bread service? A sleeper hit, thanks to a savory olive oil dip that’ll ruin you for basic butter forever. The ambiance is sleek, the kitchen’s semi-open, and yes—the fireworks views are as good as ever. Even if you dine early, keep your receipt and you can come back for the show. It’s classy without being stuffy, and the food lives up to the reputation. Pro tip: request a window seat and time your meal around Happily Ever After. REVIEW: Disney Changed the ICONIC Goat Cheese Ravioli at California Grill (!!)…But We Have GOOD NEWS! ‘Ohana Located on the top floor of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, ‘Ohana is a longtime favorite. For $53/adult ($33/kid), you get a family-style “American breakfast with Polynesian flair” featuring scrambled eggs, island-style potatoes, pineapple-coconut bread (sweet perfection), ham with pineapple compote, and the always-iconic Mickey—and Stitch!—waffles. Breakfast Characters like Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto rotate through the dining room, sometimes dancing around in a conga-line-style Aloha Parade. You’ll also score a pre-signed character card, plus autographs if you ask. Seating near the windows offers dreamy views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. Bonus: unlimited POG juice (passion, orange, guava) is included—and it’s as tropical and addictive as ever. The vibe is warm, the food hits most of the right notes, and if you’re a Lilo & Stitch fan, this is one breakfast worth waking up for. 4 Things I Wish I Knew Before Paying $65 for Dinner at ‘Ohana in Disney World Sanaa Sanaa, this Animal Kingdom Lodge gem, continues to impress with African and Indian-inspired flavors—plus those unreal savanna views. Pro move: request a window seat so you can spot zebras while digging into their iconic Indian-style Bread Service (five breads, nine dips, total must-order). Drinks and Appetizers Cocktails like the sweet African Mai Tai and bitter-but-bold Bee’s Knees bring a fresh twist to the drink list. The revamped appetizers shine too—those crispy samosas have just the right amount of heat, and the Spring Herb Salad brings texture, even if it’s not the star. Dessert is where the menu really pops. Try the banana-packed Giraffe Tower Mousse or the Ankole Cake if you want a plant-based dessert that doesn’t taste like a compromise. Sanaa is cozy, flavorful, and one of the best resort dining experiences—especially for adventurous eaters. Click Here to See Our Latest Sanaa Review! Steakhouse 71 Tucked into the lobby of the Contemporary, Steakhouse 71 brings serious mid-century modern vibes with its clean lines, retro decor, and a low-key, classy energy. The entrance hallway doubles as a mini history museum packed with vintage Disney photos—perfect for nerding out while you wait. It is open for all three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) For lunch and dinner, we always recommend the Stack Burger and you can’t go wrong with the French onion soup. Walt’s Prime Rib Hash Now, the breakfast menu? Solid. Expect American staples like seasonal pancakes, eggs benedict, and Walt’s Prime Rib Hash (a meat-and-potatoes dream). Pastries are good—nothing revolutionary—but the portions are generous and the vibes are chill. Signature drinks include the 1971 Sunset (tropical, not too sweet) and the Curious Cold Brew (heavy on the bourbon, light on the coffee). It’s not a groundbreaking breakfast, but that’s kind of the point. Steakhouse 71 is dependable, relaxed, and ideal for a pre-Magic Kingdom meal that won’t leave you in a food coma. Bonus: It’s one of those spots at Disney where even picky eaters will leave happy. Read Our Latest Steakhouse 71 Review Here! Victoria & Albert’s If you’re looking for the most luxe meal on Disney property, Victoria & Albert’s is it. With a AAA Five Diamond rating and a chef’s roster that reads like a Food Network dream team, this place is an all-out culinary experience. There are three dining options: The Dining Room, The Queen Victoria Room, and the Chef’s Table, with prices starting at $295 per person. Each offers a multi-course tasting menu—think 7 to 10 courses of edible art. Cheese Course You’ll be guided through the experience by an elite service team, and the wine list? Over 500 labels deep, with optional pairings hand-selected by a certified sommelier. Even the water has its own menu. Dining at the Chef’s Table means watching the kitchen live—chefs narrate their dishes, share stories, and treat you to once-in-a-lifetime bites like venison carpaccio, Miyazaki A-5 wagyu, and housemade sunflower “risotto.” Dessert is just as extra: raspberry Bakewell, gingerbread madeleines, and a show-stopping balsamic fig ganache. This is more than a dinner—it’s a bucket list night of food, storytelling, and unmatched Disney-level service. Come hungry, clear your evening, and wear something nice. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Victoria & Albert’s! Yachtsman Steakhouse Yachtsman Steakhouse continues to hold its spot as one of Disney World’s most reliable signature restaurants. This upscale New England-style steakhouse is still all about quality cuts, rich sides, and a calm, grown-up vibe—aka, the perfect retreat from the parks. Recent menu updates include some surprising standouts, like a citrusy Beet Tartare and a shockingly good vegan Black Garlic Fettuccini (yes, at a steakhouse). Black Garlic Fettuccine The bread service—warm sourdough and onion rolls with butter and roasted garlic—is reason enough to start strong. Steaks are still the showpiece, but if you’re not in the mood for red meat, there’s legit variety. Dessert? Don’t sleep on the vegan Berries and Cream—it’s light, fruity, and way fancier than it sounds. Pair your meal with a solid scotch or after-dinner coffee cocktail and you’ve got yourself a quietly indulgent night. Bonus: the service is top-tier without being over the top. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Yachtsman Steakhouse! Worst Table Service Restaurants at Disney World Hotels The Turf Club Bar & Grill Turf Club isn’t the easiest place to find—it’s tucked behind a lounge, down a long hallway lined with horse-themed decor. The vibe? Dark wood, equestrian memorabilia, and a kind of clubhouse-meets-country-club feel. It’s quiet, and if you score patio seating, the golf course views are actually pretty relaxing. But here’s the deal: the food is wildly inconsistent. Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée The golden-fried calamari appetizer? Surprisingly great. The salted caramel crème brûlée? A hit. But then you get the scallop pasta with overcooked noodles and barely any sauce, or chicken served with a veggie side so salty it ruined the whole plate. Some dishes land, others flop hard. And with Disney Springs literally a short walk or boat ride away, it’s hard to justify a detour here. If you’re already staying at Saratoga Springs and want a sit-down meal without leaving the resort, fine. Otherwise? Skip it. There are better bites elsewhere. REVIEW: Did a NEW Menu Fix One of Disney World’s Worst Restaurants? An Honorable Mention Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood Toledo sits on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower, bringing stylish Spanish flair to Walt Disney World. It’s open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner only, but the limited hours are worth planning around. Inside, you get surrealist-inspired decor, rooftop views of the resort, and a sleek, artsy vibe that feels upscale without being pretentious. The Spaniard The menu leans into Spanish classics—charcuterie boards, tapas like pan con tomate and shishito peppers, and mains like rib-eye, lamb, and a smoked pork chop that seriously delivers. We recommend pairing that with the olive oil potato purée—some of the best mashed potatoes on property. Desserts are creative but not overly heavy; the Basque Cheesecake is a highlight if you want to end on something sweet. If you’re into bold flavors, gorgeous interiors, and want a break from the usual Disney fare, Toledo is a hidden gem—just maybe not the place for picky eaters or last-minute planners. REVIEW: We Seriously Wish This Disney World Restaurant Was Open Every. Single. Day. Best Quick Service Restaurants at Disney World Hotels Capt. Cook’s Capt. Cook’s is hands-down one of the best quick service spots at any Disney hotel. It’s tucked on the first floor of the Polynesian’s main building, and while the vibe is low-key, the food hits hard. You can Mobile Order (yes, please), and the menus shift throughout the day—breakfast, lunch/dinner, and late-night bites all bring legit options. Pulled Pork Nachos You can snag classics like Tonga Toast (including a plant-based version!), pulled pork nachos with pineapple salsa, and even savory Pan-Asian noodles that some fans prefer to the ones at ‘Ohana. The Spicy Korean Chicken Bowl is another sleeper hit—crispy, spicy, and balanced out with cool cucumbers and rice. Whether you’re craving comfort food (those chicken strips!) or a solid flatbread after a fireworks show, this place has range. Bonus: it’s open late and has a ton of grab-and-go options if you’re in a rush. Reliable, chill, and full of flavor. I Ordered One of the Cheapest Snacks at Disney’s Polynesian Village Hotel — Here’s What I Loved About It Primo Piatto Located on the ground floor of Disney’s Riviera Resort, Primo Piatto is one of the best quick service spots you’ll find at any Disney World hotel. It’s super accessible—whether you’re coming in from the lobby or strolling over from the pool—and offers both Mobile Order and walk-up service. There’s a grab-and-go fridge stocked with drinks (hello, gelato!), a Freestyle soda station, and plenty of seating. Croque Monsieur The menu leans upscale for quick service. The Bacon Cheddar Burger—it’s your standard fare. But the Croque Monsieur? Absolute win. Buttery, cheesy, and full of flavor. The Strawberry-Chocolate Fries are next-level: churro-style fries loaded with ganache, strawberries, and honey cream cheese. Dessert fries should not go this hard. Don’t sleep on the Riviera Cookie Box either—it’s a deluxe take on classic chocolate chip. Bottom line: if you’re staying at Riviera or passing through on the Skyliner, this place is totally worth a pit stop. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Primo Piatto! Worst Restaurants in Disney World Hotels (Quick Service) El Mercado de Coronado Okay, first things first: El Mercado de Coronado isn’t actually owned by Disney. It’s run by the Palmas Group, the same folks behind the Mexico Pavilion restaurants in EPCOT. That makes it kinda unique because it’s the only quick-service spot inside a Disney hotel that’s not Disney-owned. You’ll find it past an iron grate, stepping into a space designed to look like a Spanish market with bright colors, high ceilings, and tons of windows — it totally fits the Coronado Springs vibe. Seating area! Inside, there’s no shortage of seating — booths, tables, even high-top spots — so finding a place to chill with your food is a breeze. The menu? It’s a mix of Tex-Mex and classic quick-service staples like pizza, burgers, and pasta, plus some pastries and snacks for dessert lovers. Now, here’s the catch: the food quality and menu variety leave a bit to be desired. While you’ll find some tasty options like the Tripleta Sandwich and a seriously good-for-quick-service Forager Pasta, the overall menu lacks cohesion — it jumps from Tex-Mex to Italian, which feels a little all over the place. Plus, the Tex-Mex options aren’t as bold or authentic as you might expect. On the bright side, the pretzels here are a legit winner. If you’re stopping by for a quick bite, it works. But if you’re craving that magical Disney dining experience? You might want to explore other options. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of El Mercado de Coronado! End Zone Food Court Located near the lobby at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, End Zone Food Court serves up a huge variety of options—from burgers and pizza to salads and plant-based choices—all in a casual, sports-themed setting. The colorful Disney sports art definitely sets the mood, and there’s plenty of seating, though it can get crowded during peak times. End Zone Food Court The food is solid and filling, but don’t expect anything memorable or unique here. It’s a convenient spot if you’re staying onsite, but if you’re going out of your way, you might want to explore other food courts with more interesting flavors. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of End Zone Food Court! Good’s Food To Go You find that the menu items are on the menu at this quick service restaurant located at Disney’s Old Key West Resort are pretty standard fare. Full Spread from Good’s Food to Go It can be a convenient spot for a quick bite if you’re staying at the resort, but if you’re going out of your way, you might want to explore other food courts with more interesting flavors. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Good’s Food To Go! Honorable mention Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter might not be a destination spot, but it’s a solid quick-service option if you’re already staying at the resort. Themed like a festive Mardi Gras warehouse, the vibes are fun, colorful, and full of over-the-top props. Inside, you’ll find a cafeteria-style setup with multiple counters serving up a surprisingly wide variety of food — from jambalaya and gumbo to pizza, burgers, and po’ boys. Sassagoula The standout? That Honey Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwich with pink tangy slaw. It was tender, flavorful, and actually kind of impressive. On the flip side, the Beef and Fried Shrimp Burger had good shrimp but fell a bit flat overall. The menu hits the basics with a New Orleans twist, and while not everything lands, the variety and fun atmosphere give Sassagoula its well-earned honorable mention status. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory! Best Lounges at Disney World Hotels California Grill Lounge Tucked inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the California Grill Lounge is one of the best-kept secrets for upscale dining without a reservation. Swing by early in the evening to snag a spot, and you’ll get access to the full California Grill menu — we’re talking sushi, flatbreads, craft cocktails, and more. California Grill Lounge Even better? Stick around and you’ll have a front-row seat to Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After fireworks from one of the best rooftop views on property. It’s the perfect way to enjoy signature dining vibes without the stress of scoring an advance reservation. Click here to see the latest menu changes at California Grill! Crew’s Cup Lounge Situated right next to Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Crew’s Cup Lounge is one of those low-key spots that delivers big-time. This cozy lounge serves up specialty cocktails, a full bar, and a surprisingly solid food menu in the evenings — including full entrées and the absolutely unmissable Prime Rib Sliders. Trust us, you’ll dream about them later. Prime Rib Slider and Charcuterie & Cheese Board Bonus: during Yachtsman’s dinner hours, you can watch steaks being butchered through a glass window. It’s a chill spot with great vibes, great food, and one of our favorite lounge experiences in Disney World. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Crew’s Cup Lounge! Enchanted Rose Lounge Tucked inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the Enchanted Rose is a lounge straight out of a fairytale. Inspired by Beauty and the Beast, the space oozes elegance with a glowing bar, a golden chandelier (a nod to Belle’s gown), and themed touches like a Lumiere-style candelabra and Cogsworth-esque clock. It’s classy without feeling stuffy. Bar area The menu leans upscale with bites like Crab Mac & Cheese and Truffle Fries, plus handcrafted cocktails like the French Rose. Whether you’re sipping a martini or enjoying a zero-proof drink, this is one of the most sophisticated lounges on Disney property. See the complete list of restaurants at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa Geyser Point Bar and Grill Geyser Point Bar & Grill is one of those Disney lounges that feels like a true escape. Tucked next to the Copper Creek Springs Pool at Wilderness Lodge, it offers open-air, shaded seating with serene waterfront views and even a cozy fireplace for chilly evenings. The vibe is relaxed and rustic, with a menu that goes way beyond basic bar bites. Geyser Point Bar & Grill You’ll find hearty “Rustic Fare” like the beloved Bison Cheeseburger, plus Northwest-inspired cocktails you won’t find anywhere else. Bonus: You can order Table Service To-Go if you’d rather dine back in your room. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Geyser Point Bar & Grill! Tambu Lounge Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a fan-favorite for good reason. Just steps from ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe, this cozy South Seas-inspired lounge serves up tropical drinks (hello, Lapu Lapu in a pineapple!) and a secret menu of ‘Ohana favorites. Drinks are here! You can order potstickers, wings, and yes — those famous noodles — without a dining reservation. It’s a clever workaround if you can’t snag a table at ‘Ohana. Just be careful: ordering a bunch of items à la carte can add up fast. Still, this is one of our favorite Disney lounge hacks. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Tambu Lounge! Territory Lounge Tucked just outside Storybook Dining at Artist Point, Territory Lounge feels like a quiet escape. The rustic wood finishes, leather chairs, and explorer-themed decor make this spot feel like Lewis and Clark might drop in for a drink. The menu’s small but mighty, with shareable bites and a few standout cocktails. Territory Lounge The Bacon on a Wire is quirky but tasty, the plant-based Spicy Mac surprised us, and the secret Flourless Chocolate Cake? Worth asking for. Cozy, chill, and surprisingly delicious — we’re fans. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Territory Lounge! Three Bridges Bar and Grill Right in the middle of Lago Dorado and only accessible by—you guessed it—three bridges, this laid-back yet upscale open-air lounge is serving Spanish-inspired eats like braised pork tacos, house-made queso, and killer burgers. The cocktails and sangria (yes, by the pitcher) are reason enough to stop by, but Sangria University takes it to the next level. Sangria Flight For under $80, you’ll sip a sangria flight, learn how to mix your own, and walk out with a diploma. It’s delicious, chill, and totally underrated. Honestly, this is one of Disney’s best hidden gems. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Three Bridges Bar and Grill! Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Tucked away behind a humble tan door near Capt. Cook’s, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is a tropical-themed hideaway that surprises you the moment you step inside. By day, it’s family-friendly, but after 8PM, it’s 21+ only—and trust us, it fills up fast. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto The quirky vibe hits you immediately with swim goggles on lamps and shelves packed with collectible mugs. The real magic? The over-the-top cocktails come with dramatic light shows, sound effects, and playful bartenders that make every drink feel like a mini party. With killer food and seriously creative drinks, this place is a must-visit. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto! Worst Lounge at Disney World Hotels Outer Rim If you want a quick drink right in the middle of the action, Outer Rim Lounge is a decent spot—perfect for a pre- or post-meal sip near Chef Mickey’s or Contempo Cafe. But if you’re after a true lounge vibe, with interesting cocktails, tasty bites, and a cool atmosphere, this isn’t it. Outer Rim Lounge at Contemporary Resort Outer Rim feels like the space Disney forgot—basic and kind of bare. There’s definitely potential here, especially if Disney brings back food offerings and spruces up the theme. For now, you’re better off exploring other lounges on property. The Complete Guide to Eating at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Honorable mention Scat Cat’s Club Scat Cat’s Club Lounge sits right next to the cafe but only opens at 5 PM, making it a great place to unwind after a long park day. The vibe is casual with comfy chairs and a small stage for weekend jazz performances — perfect for relaxing with a drink or two. Gumbo Poutine The menu features specialty cocktails, draft beers, and some tasty bites like Andouille Nachos and Gumbo Poutine. While they retired the Scat Cats Beignets, the new eats more than make up for it. This lounge hits all the right notes for a laid-back evening. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Scat Cat’s Club Lounge! Best Character Meals in Disney World Hotels Artist Point — Story Book Dining with Snow White Hidden inside Wilderness Lodge, Story Book Dining at Artist Point is what happens when a princess-themed dinner party meets high-end woodland vibes. The room glows with twinkling lights and towering “trees,” fully transporting you into Snow White’s world. Throughout the meal, you’ll meet Snow White herself, plus Dopey and Grumpy — and don’t worry, the Evil Queen is lurking nearby for a photo op. Story Book Dining Compared to louder, more chaotic character meals (looking at you, Chef Mickey’s), this one feels calm and immersive. The prix fixe menu ($67 per adult) delivers a full-on fairytale feast, from tiny starters served on a tree to gorgeously plated entrées and adorable themed desserts. The “Poison” Apple mousse? Iconic. If you’re craving a more relaxed character experience with strong storytelling, solid food, and real-time with the characters, Artist Point is a must. Just maybe don’t call her Evil Queen to her face. You’ve been warned. Click Here to See Our Latest Review of Artist Point — Story Book Dining with Snow White! Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera If you want to combine top-tier character dining with one of the best breakfasts on Disney property, Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera Resort is where it’s at. Perched on the rooftop, this stylish restaurant serves up dreamy views of the Skyliner, Barefoot Bay, and more — plus, it’s chef’s kiss gorgeous inside and out. Breakfast here features Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, and Donald, all dressed in custom artsy outfits you won’t see anywhere else (yes, Donald is a sculptor). Poet Minnie The food? WAY better than your average character meal. We’re talking Quiche Gruyère, Butcher’s Steak, and sour cream waffles that are citrusy, fluffy perfection. Bonus: this place feels way calmer and more elevated than other character spots. It’s not cheap, but if you’re looking for one character meal to splurge on — this is it. The characters are cute, the food is shockingly great, and the whole experience feels…fancy, in a good way. To see our REVIEW of this breakfast, click here! Worst Character Meals at Disney World Hotels Chef Mickey’s Let’s be real: Chef Mickey’s is iconic. It’s loud, it’s colorful, and it’s home to the Fab Five in their chef whites — all just steps away from the monorail gliding through Disney’s Contemporary Resort. But as much nostalgia as this spot holds, the reality doesn’t always live up to the hype. Chef Mickey’s spread Add in the chaotic noise level, long waits, and limited hours, and suddenly this “must-do” doesn’t feel so must. Unless you’re staying at the Contemporary, getting here can be a time suck too. If you’re looking for a more relaxed character meal with equally fun vibes, Garden Grill in EPCOT delivers the magic — with better food, quieter vibes, and the added bonus of rotating views over Living with the Land. Every Disney World Buffet Ranked From BEST to WORST Honorable mention Cape May Cafe Tucked inside Disney’s Beach Club Resort just steps from EPCOT, Cape May Cafe brings big beachy vibes and one of the most underrated character breakfasts around. Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast is an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet where you can load up on Mickey waffles and meet characters like Minnie, Goofy, and Daisy — all without the park crowds. The food here goes way beyond basic eggs and bacon, with an omelet station, taco bar, crepes, and those Salted Caramel Beach Buns (seriously, don’t skip those). Minnie at Cape May Cafe Even without characters, this buffet would be a standout, but adding character greetings right at your table makes it a major win — especially for families looking to save time. While the vibe can get a little hectic with kids darting between tables and the buffet, the solid food and character access make Cape May a strong pick for breakfast fans. Click here for a recent REVIEW of Cape May Cafe! Best Pool Bars at Disney World Hotels Banana Cabana Lounge Sure, getting to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort might not be the easiest trek if you’re not staying there—but trust us, Banana Cabana Lounge is totally worth the detour. This open-air, waterfront spot brings the island vibes hard. You’ll definitely be fully in vacation mode here. Banana Cabana But the real showstopper? The food. From jerk chicken to the ultra-refreshing Sebastian’s Salad with grilled shrimp, the menu is packed with bold, beachy flavors. And don’t even get us started on the Pineapple-Coconut Bread Pudding—it was created by a chef from ‘Ohana, so yes, it’s THAT good. It might even give the OG a run for its money. With great food, breezy vibes, and seriously good drinks, Banana Cabana is basically island time in Disney form—and we’re not mad about it. The Complete Guide to Eating at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Barefoot Pool Bar If you’re staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (or just passing through), Barefoot Pool Bar is the ultimate poolside pit stop. The eats come from the Oasis Bar & Grill kitchen, so you’re getting legit options like Black Pepper Parmesan Wings, crunchy Fried Wonton Chips, and a super fresh Grilled Chicken Avocado Wrap that honestly felt way fancier than “pool bar food” should. Bonus: Mobile Order is available, so you can chill while your food’s prepped. Barefoot Pool Bar Of course, you’re here for the drinks too — and the cocktail game is strong. Think pineapple Dole Whip blended drinks like The Voyager, or a secret-menu Samoa Sunrise made with POG Juice and a splash of rum magic. With laid-back vibes, solid food, and seriously sippable drinks, Barefoot Pool Bar just gets it right. Click here for a recent REVIEW of Barefoot Pool Bar! Bar Riva If you’re picturing limp nachos and soggy sandwiches, think again. Bar Riva at Disney’s Riviera Resort isn’t just a pool bar—it’s a poolside upgrade. This Mediterranean-inspired hideaway delivers sit-down restaurant vibes without losing the laid-back charm. You’ve got covered seating, table service, and a menu that feels seriously grown-up. Bar RIVA From exclusive cocktails like the zesty Mediterranean Wave to flavorful bites like the crispy, truffle-packed Arancini, Bar Riva makes lounging by the pool feel downright luxe. The Signature Burger? One of the best on property. And don’t even think about skipping dessert—that cookie skillet with pistachio gelato is legendary. It’s casual, classy, and shockingly good for a pool bar. Honestly, even if you’re not staying at the Riviera, this one is worth hopping on the Skyliner for. Because at Bar Riva, you’re not just grabbing a bite—you’re having a whole moment. Click here for a recent REVIEW of Bar Riva! Worst Pool Bars in Disney World Hotels Grandstand Spirits Grandstand Spirits, the sole bar at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, isn’t exactly bringing the wow factor. Like its All-Star siblings, it’s more functional than fun — not much in terms of atmosphere or theming. Grandstand Spirits You can order drinks either outside or from a window inside the End Zone Food Court, and while there are a few bar stools for lounging, it’s not really a spot you’ll want to hang out for long. The good news? There’s a full bar and a solid lineup of refreshing specialty cocktails — perfect for grabbing a quick drink before heading poolside. See all of the dining options at Disney’s All-Star Resorts HERE! Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill Located right by the iconic Stormalong Bay pool at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club, Hurricane Hanna’s looks like your average pool bar — and for the most part, it is. The menu features the usual suspects: burgers, chicken strips, and frozen drinks. Hurricane Hanna’s But here’s the thing — the real standout is the Loaded Crab Fries, which are shockingly good. That said, everything else is pretty standard, and with limited seating and no real atmosphere beyond “pool deck,” this spot doesn’t exactly wow unless you’re already lounging nearby. It’s convenient, but not destination-worthy. Click here for a recent REVIEW of Hurricane Hanna’s! Honorable mention Maji Pool Bar Tucked away at Kidani Village, Maji Pool Bar serves up cocktails (frozen and on the rocks), wine, draft beers like Safari Amber, and even some tasty bites during the afternoon. Maji Pool Bar The standout? The Gourmet Grilled Cheese — loaded with pear chutney, goat cheese, smoked gouda, bresaola, and pickled onions on multigrain bread. It’s definitely not your average grilled cheese and might not be kid-friendly, but if you love bold, balanced flavors, it’s worth the detour. A perfect spot to relax and refuel by the pool. 13. A new Orlando attraction aims to gather families hoping to get the maximum enjoyment out of their mini golf outings. PopStroke, the Tiger Woods-backed golf concept that also includes ice cream, bar bites, drinks and a playground, opened its second Central Florida location and its ninth in Florida this week. The new facility adds to a growing roster of dining, shopping and entertainment venues popping up in Horizon West’s Hamlin town center. PopStroke CEO Greg Bartoli — who partnered with Woods and his company, TGR Design, in 2019 — said the modern concept has a multi-generational appeal. Greg Bartoli, CEO of PopStroke, visits the company’s newest location at PopStroke in Horizon West’s Hamlin town center. (Patrick Connolly/Orlando Sentinel)“Putting is a great introduction to the game of golf. It’s not intimidating. It’s something 5-year-olds can do and 85-year-olds can do, and everyone in between,” he said. “We have a playground for kids, 24 flavors of premium ice cream, corn hole, foosball, ping pong, three bars and mobile app delivery. Golf is what may bring people in, but once they get here, they’re coming back for the overall experience.” Although the concept is aimed at parents, grandparents, kids and young couples alike, being at least somewhat tech-savvy is a requirement for visiting. Everything about the PopStroke experience runs through the company’s proprietary app — from scoring to mobile drink ordering while out on the course. Future upgrades are in the works, including chips in the golf balls that will keep track of score (similar to TopGolf) and cameras on each hole to capture hole-in-one celebrations. Two 18-hole mini golf courses, bar bites, drinks and outdoor games await visitors at PopStroke in Horizon West’s Hamlin town center. (Patrick Connolly/Orlando Sentinel)With two 18-hole turf courses designed by professionals and a partnership with TaylorMade, golf is a focal point of the PopStroke experience, but far from the only draw. The company started five years ago in Jupiter and has since grown drastically, adding upgrades along the way, including a made-from-scratch food menu. “We spent a lot of time on the culinary experience. We didn’t want to have that overshadowed by the golf experience, so we created the Bar Tenders brand,” Bartoli said. “Our chicken tenders are fresher and much more higher quality than Chick-fil-A or Raising Cane’s.” After a career working on Wall Street, Bartoli turned his attention to miniature golf when he opened Jupiter’s Lighthouse Cove in 2013. Two 18-hole mini golf courses, bar bites, drinks and outdoor games await visitors at PopStroke in Horizon West's Hamlin town center. (Patrick Connolly/Orlando Sentinel)“It was all about the idea where you could connect with family and friends across generations,” he said. “The kids can enjoy the playground, while mom and dad can enjoy cocktails and drinks.” The newest PopStroke location comes in addition to Orlando’s first location in Waterford Lakes, with another one planned for International Drive next year. Nationwide, the company continues to expand with 18 locations in seven states. Sliders, chicken tenders, flatbread and wings are menu staples at PopStroke in Horizon West’s Hamlin town center. (Patrick Connolly/Orlando Sentinel)“The goal was to modernize the experience of putting and miniature golf,” Bartoli said. “We’ve leaned in heavily with our Florida locations and we’ve continued to evolve with Arizona, Las Vegas, Texas and Tennessee.” Find me @PConnPie on Instagram or send me an email: pconnolly@orlandosentinel.com. 15. Several Orlando Restaurants have been shut down due to inspections. Walt Disney World 7 different restaurants were forced to close from July 27th to August 2nd, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Two of the restaurants were less than 15 minutes from Walt Disney World. If you like to explore Orlando when you head to Disney World, you need to read this! While many people like to stay in that Disney bubble during their entire trip, others like to stay off property and do things outside of the parks. (We love to pop into Celebration every now and then!) Celebration, Florida Recently, several restaurants have closed around Orlando due to inspections. Two of these restaurants are close to Disney World, and if you’re someone who likes to try spots outside of the resort, this is something you need to know. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the first of the two spots is Latin Bistro Express. From JM T. on Yelp This restaurant is located at 5770 W. Irlo Bronson Highway, #157-159 in Kissimmee. It was shut down on July 31st due to 22 inspector violations. Three of these violations were considered “high priorities,” including “raw chicken in boxes used to store spices, rodent activity, and an expired business license.” A second inspection happened on August 1st, where inspectors found 12 violations and issued an extension for the expired license. Latin Bistro from Kerry B. on Yelp The Peruvian restaurant has met inspection standards and is currently showing times online again. The second restaurant that was forced to close was Perkins Restaurant & Bakery. It’s located at #1132 at 5170 W. Irlo Bronson Highway in Kissimmee. ©Crexi The restaurant was shut down on July 28th due to 11 violations. The restaurant “killed the roaches on site and has a work order for pest control.” After that, the restaurant met expectations. ©Adobe This restaurant is reopened and shows hours online. 16. If there’s anything consistent about Disney World these days, it’s that you’re going to see a lot of construction…well…everywhere. Major construction is happening in three out of the four parks, and we’re seeing a lot of construction at Disney World hotels, too. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Hotel Room Now, a lot of Disney World hotels have been getting room upgrades recently. Not to be left out, it seems that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will also soon be getting refreshed rooms. Here’s what we know. If you’ve ever stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you’ll understand what we mean when we say this hotel is BEAUTIFUL. Plus, it has some fun rooms with animal themes that are a delight to stay in. Here’s what the rooms currently look like in this hotel. Animal Kingdom Lodge hotel room Well, at least some of those rooms seem to be set for an update. A message on the Disney World website has informed us that rooms at Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge will be undergoing refurbishment from October 2025 through May 2026, followed by refurbishment at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027. Now, considering the timeframes involved, that sounds like a pretty big refurbishment. ©Disney Note that there’s ongoing construction happening on the Zebra Trail terrace that began in July and is scheduled to end in September 2025. So if you’re staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, it’s likely you may see and hear some construction during the day. However, all amenities will remain available at the hotel. Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney has not yet revealed what the updated rooms might look like, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more news about these room refurbishments, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 9 Disney Loungefly Bags You’ll LOVE if Your Favorite Hotel Is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge What do you think? 17. Calling all Annual Passholders! There are plenty of reasons why being a Disney World Annual Passholder is worth it — and if you ask us, the free souvenirs are just the cherry on top. Crush from Finding Nemo Disney recently teased that a new Annual Passholder magnet was coming to Animal Kingdom themed to Finding Nemo, and now, we’ve got our first look at the character featured on this free souvenir! The new Crush Annual Passholder magnet is now available at Discovery Trading Company and Riverside Depot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom from August 7th through September 27th, 2025! When we stopped by, there was a bit of a queue to pick our magnet up — but it wasn’t anything too long. Magnet distribution If you’re looking to pick yours up, you’ll need a valid Annual Pass card, a linked MagicBand, MagicBand+, or Disney MagicMobile pass, and a government-issued photo ID to receive a magnet. There is a limit of one Crush magnet per Passholder, and they are only available while supplies last — so you might want to hurry on over to Animal Kingdom before they’re all gone! The last magnet was Maleficent-themed and was available from May 14th to July 31st. 18. For better or worse, things are changing at the Disneyland Resort. Paint the Night Parade Disneyland is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary in style with special shows, theming, snacks, and much more! In fact, the return of some nighttime entertainment has us changing up the ways we’re spending our evenings at The Happiest Place on Earth! One of the best offerings of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration — without a doubt — has been the return of the Paint the Night nighttime parade! This fan-favorite parade — along with the return of the Wondrous Journeys fireworks spectacular — has created a new purpose when it comes to how guests spend their evenings at Disneyland Park. Paint the Night With that in mind, the return of these nighttime shows will change your plans in one of two ways. For starters, you might want to make it a point to see these shows! Cars float For either, you’ll want to set aside an hour or two to claim your spot for viewing. Wondrous Journeys happens in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle with projections all along Main Street, U.S.A. ©Disney As for Paint the Night, the parade makes its way from “it’s a small world” all the way down Main Street, as well. Paint the Night is back! The second option is avoiding crowds. Navigating the park during these events is a nightmare, and if you don’t want to have to weave in and out of crowds, you can either use showtimes to find rides with lower wait times or leave the park before the shows happen. If you’re not into parades and fireworks, leaving before will mean you avoid the big rush, or you can count on a bulk of guests not riding rides at the moment, and take advantage of that fact. Paint the Night We’ve been going to Disneyland for YEARS and have dealt with nighttime shows in both ways — skipping altogether or camping out and waiting. There is no right or wrong way to go about these nighttime shows, but it is important to be aware of them before your trip so you can plan accordingly. But you know what they really don’t mess around with? Shoes. ©Amazon Disney Aunts aren’t here to suffer. New Balance Men’s/Women’s Sneakers Oxford 530 ©Amazon These are everywhere right now. The New Balance 530s are basically the “cool aunt who runs a PR firm and always books the best dining reservations” shoe. They give Y2K dad energy, but make it fashion. They’re super comfy thanks to the ABZORB midsole, which basically feels like walking on a trampoline in the best way possible. The mesh/synthetic combo keeps things breathable for those 95-degree days, and the chunky silhouette still looks cute with biker shorts or a tennis skirt. These are the “walk all day, rope drop to fireworks” shoes. And yes, they’re on sale. View on Amazon Birkenstock Unisex Open-Back Arizona Black Eva ©Amazon These are the sandals we keep spotting at the resorts and in line for Dole Whip. The Birkenstock Arizona EVAs are lightweight, waterproof, and a total lifesaver if your feet need a break from sneakers. They look like the classic cork Birks but are made of ultra-light EVA, so they don’t absorb sweat and dry fast after a surprise Florida downpour. They’re also great for water rides, pool days, and that inevitable midday foot swelling (real ones know). If you need an easy, slip-on sandal that won’t wreck your arches, these are it. View on Amazon Vans Women’s Classic Slip on Sneaker ©Amazon You know the ones. Classic Vans Slip-Ons in every pattern imaginable. We’re seeing Disney Aunts pair these with linen pants, bike shorts, even flowy dresses. They’re easy, breathable, and that micro-waffle tread? Surprisingly solid for long park days. They’re lightweight, easy to pack, and don’t scream “theme park sneaker.” You’ll see these everywhere from Galaxy’s Edge to EPCOT wine tastings. And if you snag them in a fun print? Bonus points. View on Amazon Vans Women’s UA SK8-Hi Tapered Stackform Sneakers ©Amazon Need ankle support but want to stay cool? These Vans Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackforms are making the rounds, and we are here for it. Think of these as the stylish aunt’s answer to clunky hiking shoes. They’ve got that suede-and-canvas look with an ultra-chunky sole that adds both comfort and a little height. They’re also great for days when the fit needs to go hard. These are perfect for long strolls through EPCOT or a stylish stop at Hollywood Studios. View on Amazon Chaco Women’s Z/1 Classic Sandal ©Amazon Chacos have a rep—and they’ve earned it. These are for the serious walkers. The “I have a spreadsheet for this trip and we’re sticking to it” kind of aunt. And honestly? Respect. These sandals are built to last. Adjustable straps that don’t budge, excellent arch support, and that podiatrist-approved footbed. They’re also great for hot days since they let your feet breathe, but still offer way more support than a basic flip-flop. You’ll catch them on the aunts who are rope-dropping Animal Kingdom and still somehow looking fresh at park close. 23. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently announced that it would open security lanes dedicated to families and military service members at airports across the United States. TSA lines at MCO “Families on the Fly” will create dedicated security lines for families with small children, while the “Honor Lane” will expedite security checkpoints for military service members and their families. And now, one of those lanes has officially opened at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Families traveling with small children can now use dedicated family-friendly lanes when going through security at the Orlando Airport, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The lanes are part of a new program aiming to minimize stress for travelers lugging strollers and diaper bags with them. Orlando International Airport Originally, this was just a pilot program being tested at Orlando Airport — since so many families fly in and out on their Disney World trips — but now, the lane is officially open. The policy is being called “Families on the Fly” and will be rolling out at more airports this year. Baggage claim! 25. Attendance at SeaWorld Orlando attractions was up in the second quarter, but revenue was down for United Parks, its parent company, according to financial reports released Thursday. In a rare move, CEO Marc Swanson singled out the company’s Orlando results to address performance in the aftermath of the opening of the nearby Epic Universe theme park by Universal Orlando in the quarter. “Our attendance at our SeaWorld Orlando park has been up in attendance since Epic opened on May 22,” he said. “It was up for the full second quarter, and it was up if you measured from the date Epic opened through the end of the second quarter. It continues to be up quarter to date in the third quarter through August 6 on a day-to-day basis.” Swanson said attendance was up at its Aquatica Orlando water park and Discovery Cove, a day resort. “We expect attendance for the remainder of the year at this part to be up as well,” he told analysts in a conference call after results were announced. Revenue also was up in Orlando, he said, without releasing specific figures. Attendance across all of United’s parks was 6.2 million guests, a 0.8% increase from the second quarter of 2024. Total revenue was $490.2 million, a decrease 1.5% from the second quarter, and net income was $80.1 million, a decrease 12.1% from the second quarter of 2024. In-park per-capita spending was 37.6 million, a dip of 0.4% from a year earlier. United Parks & Resorts, based in Orlando, operates 13 parks across the United State and Abu Dhabi, including Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. “We’re a little disappointed and probably could have and should have done a better job of proactively managing some of our park labor and operating expenses in the face of poor weather that impacted demand,” Swanson said. “We have tightened and improved our processes and added additional resources to help manage these areas better in the future.” On Wednesday, Walt Disney Co. reported record third-quarter revenue at Walt Disney World, and in late July, Comcast Corp., the parent company of Universal Orlando, said theme park revenue went up 18.9% in its second quarter. United Parks has not seen a trend of consumers with “value consciousness,” Swanson said. “Our pass sales did improve in July. … Our early Howl-O-Scream sales are positive as well,” Swanson said. “One that I think is really impressive is Discovery Cove here in Orlando, which is our most expensive park, by a lot. That park is on pace for a record attendance here. So, you know, if you were to see some sort of consumer pullback, I think in one of these areas I just mentioned, you would have seen it.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com.
