  1. It’s the best time of year to be a Disney World Annual Passholder! So many new perks have been announced and, as a Passholder myself, I’m already planning my next trip to the parks to try them all. Annual Pass Get ready to grab your magnet because it’s time for a new one at Disney World! You can pick it up at the Discovery Trading Company & Riverside Depot. You’ll need to show your Annual Pass, with the card, app, or MagicBand, and have a government-issued photo ID. Discovery Trading Company There will also be a new Passholder-exclusive drink at Joffrey’s in Animal Kingdom, available August 7th to September 27th. The Just Keep Swimming Frost is made of Joffrey’s Signature Frozen Lemonade, Minute Maid Lemonade, and Blue Raspberry Syrup, topped with a layer of SKITTLES POP’d Original Freeze Dried Candy. ©Disney YUM! They say it’s tangy and sweet and sounds like a perfect way to round up all summer flavors into one. Joffrey’s in Animal Kingdom There’s one more perk for Passholders, too! If you head to the space across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue … and Beyond in Animal Kingdom, you can try their limited-time Disney PhotoPass experiences. Big Blue and Beyond! There will be special characters on the photos, including: August 7th to September 27th — Becky with a pail containing Nemo and Marlin as a Magic Shot September 4th to 27th — Post with a postcard of Mount Wannahockaloogie, and Peach the starfish will be added to the Magic Shot September 4th to 27th — Hank the octopus in a nautical Magic Shot So we definitely need to get them all, right? We’re glad Nemo is getting the love he deserves, as well as Animal Kingdom, as it goes through its major transformation. DinoLand U.S.A. is turning into Pueblo Esperanza, the tropical Americas-themed land featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones. 2. One by one, Magic Kingdom is dropping rides. Some closures are permanent (lookin’ at you, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat) while others are just temporary, like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Lightning Lane sign On August 4th, another Magic Kingdom ride closed for an extended refurbishment — Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. And, now that this ride has closed, there are even fewer Lightning Lane Multi Pass options at this park! I’m a Disney World expert, and even my head is spinning with all of these changes, so here’s what you need to know. Heads up if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom — you now have one fewer Lightning Lane Multi Pass option to choose from! With the temporary (but extended) closure of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, there are fewer choices for this skip-the-line pass at this park. It’s closed! Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an optional paid service available through the My Disney Experience app, which allows you to bypass standby lines and enter the Lightning Lane (previously known as the FastPass line) at select attractions in the parks by paying a base price for multiple attractions. Lightning Lane At Magic Kingdom, the current Lightning Lane Multi Pass options are listed below. Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following*: Jungle Cruise Peter Pan’s Flight Space Mountain Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all 3) from the following: The Barnstormer Dumbo the Flying Elephant Haunted Mansion “it’s a small world” Mad Tea Party The Magic Carpets of Aladdin The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Mickey’s PhilharMagic Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Pirates of the Caribbean Tomorrowland Speedway Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane AND Standby Lane Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is typically available as a Tier 2 attraction; however, this refurbishment will last into 2026. And, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is typically available as a Tier 1 attraction; however, Big Thunder Mountain closed on January 6th, 2025, for a refurbishment that will last into 2026. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin As part of the new changes at Space Ranger Spin, an all-new character — a friendly robot named “Buddy” — will make sure you’re prepared for your mission. This will also be a great time for you to see some of the new, interactive target features before blasting off. In addition, the ride vehicles are getting a facelift with a new design inspired by the colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command. Each vehicle will also come equipped with video monitors that provide real-time scoring updates and other exciting features. ©Disney Oh, and did we mention the HANDHELD BLASTERS? Yep, no more trying to wrench that static blaster into the perfect position — you’ll be able to aim and shoot easily. The new blasters will now include an always-on laser and come in two different colors so you can tell who is aiming at what! ©Disney We’ll be on the lookout for more updates about this closure and the latest news from Disney World. 4. When it comes to Disney souvenirs, we have a lot of them! EPCOT We are constantly scanning the internet, Disney World parks, and more to find the best merchandise and necessities. Over in EPCOT, we have now found what might be the most unique thing we have ever found in Disney World, and our entire team is obsessed with it! We, of course, had to grab one of our own, and the entire team started name-debating immediately. We can’t wait to add him to our desk for a little smile throughout the day when we’re away from the Disney parks. This souvenir is also a great example of bringing a bit of the Disney magic home that feels subtle, so not everyone will know where you got your adorable chachkie (unless you want them to)! The Norway Pavilion This is just another Disney find that we had to scream about because we were so excited! As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more merchandise finds. The New Procedures You Have to Follow in EPCOT IT'S WINE & DINE TIME! Food & Wine Festival can be a bummer. You stand in line waiting for what looks like the perfect treat, and it's a bust. 5. Every day is a busy one at Disney World, but soon, things are REALLY going to ramp up. Mickey during the Festival of Fantasy Parade Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off on August 15th, the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival starts on August 28th, and the huge Destination D23 event will begin the very next day. But, if you’re heading to Disney World anytime soon, you need to know about this Festival of Fantasy parade change at Magic Kingdom! Heads up if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom soon! Showtimes for the Festival of Fantasy parade are changing. Starting on August 10th, the Festival of Fantasy parade will take place at 2 PM instead of the typical 3 PM. Festival of Fantasy Not only that, but the Adventure Friends Cavalcade will also change showtimes on the same date. Instead of two showtimes in the morning, there will be just one showtime at 11:30 AM as of August 10th. As of now, this change will remain in effect as far as the calendar currently goes out on the Disney World website. Adventure Friends Cavalcade These changes are likely due to the fact that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins the following week on August 15th. The Boo To You parade is an extremely popular part of the event, and Disney likely needs some additional time to move all of those parade floats around — especially with the addition of Disney Starlight! Boo To You Parade Starlight — a new nighttime parade — recently debuted at Magic Kingdom, and it is simply gorgeous. The parade features beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Pixar films, and some have made their nighttime parade debut in Disney Starlight! Please be aware that Disney Starlight will not be presented on the nights when Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney Starlight We’ll continue to be on the lookout for more updates you need to know about from Disney World and beyond. 6. Magic Kingdom is looking pretty different these days! Magic Kingdom A huge piece of Frontierland recently closed for good, Big Thunder Mountain is still closed for a lengthy refurbishment, and now, another popular Magic Kingdom attraction has hung up the “closed” sign. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has officially closed for a huge reimagining, and we’re taking you with us to see what has changed already! We also hopped onto the PeopleMover to see if we could spot any changes through the windows that give you a glance into the attraction, but no such luck. The ride has darkened the windows, and they have removed the narration that discusses Buzz Lightyear. PeopleMover Disney has already given us an idea of what changes are coming to the attraction. First, we know that a new scene will be added. ©Disney The new scene at the beginning of the ride will introduce us to “Buddy,” the friendly robot! He will make sure you’re prepared for your mission. During this new scene, you will be able to see some of the new, interactive target features before starting the quest to become a Galactic hero. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin before the refurbishment The ride will also have new Z targets that will feature new technology that will allow them to react and light up when hit. So now we won’t have to guess if we’re hitting the right target! The ride will also get new ride vehicles with new designs, inspired by the colors of Buzz Lightyear. ©Disney Each vehicle will also have video monitors that provide real-time scoring updates and other features. In addition to the ride vehicle changes, there will also be new blasters for you to shoot with! The new blasters will now include an always-on laser and come in two different colors. ©Disney It’s unclear when the ride will reopen in 2026, but you can be sure we will let you know ASAP! While this ride is super popular, many guests can agree that this reimagining is very needed. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news and updates. 7. Getting to Disney World just got easier! Breeze Airways just announced TWO new nonstop routes to the Orlando International Airport (MCO). ©Breeze Airways There are a lot of considerations when it comes to planning your Disney World vacation, and a big one is how exactly you are going to get there! Many families choose to fly to one of the nearby airports, and Breeze just announced two new routes to MCO. The new Breeze Airways routes officially begin in December. Service to Lincoln, Nebraska, begins on December 10th and service to the Tri-cities, Tennessee, begins on December 12th. Both routes will offer service twice a week. Orlando International Airport We always love seeing more routes being added as it can make travel easier and it provides more options for those traveling to Disney World and the Orlando area. It is always a good idea to spend some time researching airlines and flight options so you can find the best ones for your family! ©Breeze Airways Keep in mind that there are LOTS of options for airlines and flights when you are heading to Disney World. There are even two airports to consider if you are looking to research all the possible options. Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the larger of the two and a bit closer to Disney World. On the other hand, Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is a smaller airport, but you can find some great deals for flights here. It is a bit farther away from Disney World, but still manageable. Orlando Sanford International Airport Looking for assistance planning your Disney World vacation? You can add the park hopper add-on for $40 per ticket or the water parks and sports option for $35 per ticket. If you want to add both, you can use the park hopper plus option for $53 per ticket. Monorail As an Orlando local, I know there are lots of Disney World attractions that are permanently closing or being renovated in a new project right now. Grabbing these park tickets can help you experience the attractions one more time before they officially become “defunct.” Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster The rest of DinoLand U.S.A. is closing at the beginning of 2026, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closing down around the same time to get rethemed to the Muppets. 9. There’s a new problem plaguing Gen Z in Disney World, and it’s probably not what you think! Magic Kingdom It’s not the ever-increasing prices or the ridiculous heat and humidity, or even the dilemma of what to wear on your vacation. Nope, it has to do with all the changes coming to Magic Kingdom. Gen Z is in the middle of a pretty big waiting period! If you’ve been in the Disney news loop, you know that some major changes are coming to Magic Kingdom in the future. And honestly, it seems like these changes are going to be really exciting for Gen Z! From a Villains Land where you can embrace your dark side to attractions themed to the beloved Cars franchise, the generation living their teens and twenties is going to be right at home. @Disney First, those new Cars attractions are definitely a draw geared toward people Gen Z and younger. The Cars movies came out during the peak parts of our childhood, and our generation helped launch the Lightning McQueen obsession. So to have that franchise represented in Disney World is going to be a big draw for Gen Z! ©Disney When it comes to Villains Land, it seems to be a land geared towards those heading into their teens, twenties, and beyond…and Gen Z will be right in that sweet spot when the land opens. It helps that we’re the generation obsessed with all things spooky as well. We’re going to feel right at home with the Disney Villains! Villains Land ©Disney But unfortunately, we’ll be waiting quite a little while for these updates. It’s going to take a few years for all these projects to be completed. With multiple major rides, new theming, and lots of construction on the horizon, we’re essentially in a waiting period for these exciting additions. Magic Kingdom On top of that, a few other things that Gen Z loves are closed these days as well! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (a coaster with a nice zippy thrill) is closed until 2026 while it gets some updates and a new track, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin (another franchise we grew up with!) is about to close to get updated blasters and ride vehicles as well as a new ride scene. ©Disney So if you’re Gen Z and you’re heading to Magic Kingdom, you might find yourself in a bit of a waiting period. Anticipating the new offerings coming to the park but missing some of the old attractions from your childhood visits. Thankfully, there are still a few things geared toward this age group in the meantime. Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is themed to The Princess and the Frog, a princess movie that was released during Disney’s Revival Era, which marked many of the films Gen Z grew up loving. TRON Lightcycle / Run provides some pretty awesome thrills for this age group, if you’re missing the roller coaster charm of Big Thunder. And of course, you can still enjoy many Magic Kingdom classics and spot your favorite characters in both Festival of Fantasy and the new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight. Disney Starlight There’s still plenty to do and enjoy in Magic Kingdom, but as a representative of Gen Z, we’re definitely excited for the future! 10. Spooky season is right around the corner, and you know what that means– it means Magic Kingdom will soon be getting its Halloween makeover (give us ALL the Mickey pumpkin wreaths), and new food and snacks will be coming to the parks. Jack and Sally Pops But even MORE importantly, the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is on August 15th, and the party will bring EXCLUSIVE food and drinks to Magic Kingdom. Now, we’ll be at the party trying all the new treats, but we’ve also already reviewed a lot of the returning items, so here is our massive review of those! Casey’s Corner is bringing back the Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn French Fries, which are French fries topped with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, jalapeño ranch, and cilantro. These are classic Disney fries, but the toppings take them up a notch. You also get a good topping per fry ratio, and honestly, these could seriously be a meal. These were good! You can also get the Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn Mini Corn Dogs, which are Mini corn dogs topped with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, jalapeño ranch, and cilantro. We didn’t love this as much as the fries, but the flavors with the topping are delicious. The pork is tender and the queso fresco is OH, so creamy (plus you get a lot — and you know we love the cheese). Both of these snacks have a bit of spice, but trust us, it’s not overwhelming. LET’S EAT SOME NUGS Over at Aloha Isle, you can grab the DOLE Whip Mango and Chamoy Float, made with DOLE Whip Mango, pineapple juice, chamoy, and chili-lime seasoning. It’s a little sweet, a little spicy, and a lot delicious. Now, the chamoy and chili-lime seasoning aren’t overpowering. Instead, they add a nice balance to the sweetness of the mango and pineapple. Our only complaint is that we wish there were more of both. DOLE Whip Mango Chamoy Float Head on over to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe to rustle up the Grilled Masa Flatbread, a Grilled corn cake topped with braised chicken, butternut squash puree, cilantro-pumpkin seed sauce, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, and queso fresco. This is a DELICIOUS flatbread that reminded us a lot of a taco with a bunch of toppings, but in flat form. We also loved that it was on a grilled corn tortilla vs. the usual flour tortillas you get at Pecos Bill. Bonus? When we had it before, we were told this could be made vegan. Grilled Masa Flatbread You’ll also be able to get the Chocolate-Caramel Tart. This is a Chocolate tart shell filled with chocolate ganache, caramel sauce, and caramel cream, topped with TWIX cookie bar pieces and a chocolate piece. This cute treat basically tastes like a Twix bar, so if you like Twix, this one is a must. But you need to eat it fast because it melts and becomes a mushy mess pretty quickly. Chocolate-Caramel Tart The Madame Leota Séance Candle at Sleepy Hollow is a push pop-style dessert made with Red velvet cake and cookies and cream mousse. This is a very sugary treat that we found a little on the dry side. The mousse is whipped but VERY sweet. The crunchy pearls are nice and add texture. Also, as you push up, the dessert has a tendency to want to fall out, so eat it fast. Madame Leota Séance Candle You can also grab the Jack Pop, which is a Chocolate fudge brownie with marshmallow filling topped with a chocolate piece. This cute dessert wasn’t exactly all that. It comes out cold, but the cake is still soft. The flavor reminds us of German chocolate. The cake is dry, though, so it’s a no from us. Jack Pop Of course, you also have to try the Sally Pop, made with Yellow cake with raspberry filling, topped with a chocolate piece. This cake was also dry, and that black frosting stains your teeth and hands. The cake has a good flavor but could use more of the raspberry filling. That filling helps cut through the sweetness of the cake. You can also grab both of these pops at Liberty Square Market. Sally Pop In Fantasyland, be sure to go by Friar’s Nook and order the macabre Bowl of Bones. This is actually Pork wings fried with jalapeños and tossed in barbecue sauce made with Cherry Coca-Cola. These have a smoky tasting meat, although the first taste you get is sweet, followed by the spiciness of the jalapeños. These make for a great snack, but the portion size is a little small for a meal. They do pack some heat, so you’ve been warned. Bowl of Bones Friar’s Nook also has the Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie, made with Buffalo chicken and mozzarella wrapped in a flaky dough, topped with blue cheese crumbles and buffalo-ranch. We absolutely love this snack. The buffalo is nice and spicy, and the blue cheese powder is a nice accompaniment. The hand pie itself is flaky and soft, while the chicken inside is tender. Then there’s the ranch sauce that adds some tangy deliciousness. Buffalo Chicken Handpie Don’t forget to drop by Cheshire Cafe for the Mummy Treat. It’s a flaky pastry with chocolate filling, topped with white icing stripes and sugar décor. It’s really just a dressed-up version of the Cheshire Cat Tail you can get here during the day. It’s sweet, and we like it, but it’s not THAT special. Mummy Treat Okay, on to Tomorrowland. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe will have the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Strips drizzled with Korean barbecue sauce and topped with black sesame seeds, fried garlic, and green onions. Don’t let these chicken strips fool you. They might look basic compared to some of the other party treats, but the sauce is fantastic and elevates the chicken. If you love sweet and sour sauce, then these are for you. Sweet and Spicy Chicken Strips The Lunching Pad will offer the Jalapeño Popper Dog, an All-beef hot dog topped with sriracha cream cheese, crispy onions, bacon, and Hades relish. We LOVE this dog. The heat is a low heat, so it’s not TOO spicy. The relish is the spiciest part of the hot dog. The sriracha cream cheese is creamy and adds a nice texture. It’s a beauty! We’ll be trying the new treats at the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 15th, so you’ll want to stay tuned to DFB for those reviews! 11. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to see our favorite characters dressed up in costumes and eat the most candy EVER! 2024 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Map During this event, there are tons of exclusive snacks to try, merchandise to check out, and, of course, trick-or-treating and riding some of your favorite rides with low waits. Heads up — one ride will NOT be available this year! Personally, getting to ride some of my favorite attractions with very low waits is one of my favorite parts of the party, and I know a lot of you feel the same way! The majority of rides in the park will be available throughout the night, and some of them even have special Halloween overlays. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party However, this year, there’s one less ride on the list, because Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland closes for a months-long refurbishment on August 4th. Typically, this ride is pretty popular during the party, so we’re bummed we won’t be able to ride it this year. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin During its refurbishment, this attraction will be getting handheld blasters with new lighting and sound effects, the ride vehicles themselves will get a new paint job inspired by Star Command as well as screens that update your score in real time, an all-new scene at the beginning of the ride with a new character, and new targets that react when hit. ©Disney There are still plenty of rides to hop on with short waits, including super popular attractions like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Jungle Cruise, and TRON Lightcycle / Run. 13. Have you been keeping up with the Disney news lately? Let’s talk Disney! There are so many things going on at the Disney company. The parks are changing thanks to new lands and permanent closures. New movies are headed for theaters. They’re even building Disney living communities right now. All of these changes can be a lot to keep up with, so that’s why we’re doing a full wrap-up of this week’s biggest Disney news right here! So far, they’ve teased menu items like Fried Deviled Eggs, quesadillas with skulls, and a chicken biscuit sandwich (with eyes, of course). We are seriously obsessed with the Holiday overlay this bar features, so we know Halloween will be no different! ©Disney We can’t wait to put everything to the test when this limited-time overlay begins later this month. Learn More About Jock Lindsey’s Halloween Bar Here New Characters in Disneyland Finally, we’re wrapping up our news this week over in California. Over in Disneyland Park, new characters have arrived to save the world. If you’re a Marvel fan, you can now stop in the park to meet the Fantastic Four! Reed Richards and Sue Storm To celebrate the release of the new movie Fantastic Four: The First Steps, Disney has brought in Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and H.E.R.B.I.E. to meet guests in Tomorrowland! They meet separately, so sadly, you won’t see the entire gang together. First up, husband and wife, Reed and Sue, are paired together. It’s Reed and Sue! Second, Johnny and Ben (AKA The Thing) meet together! There’s Ben and Johnny! Finally, sweet robot H.E.R.B.I.E. was seen solo and can speak with guests in real time! Hi H.E.R.B.I.E.! If you want to meet all four superheroes and their robots, you will need to wait through both lines as they rotate throughout the day. These characters are around for a limited time, so if you want to go see them, you need to head to the park ASAP. Disneyland has been busy with all of the 70th Anniversary celebrations happening, so we were super excited to see these friends stop by for a while. ALERT: NEW Characters Are Now Meeting at Disneyland! There is so much happening within the company, and we are loving every update. 14. Marvel’s new movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has officially arrived in theaters, but it’s also hit Disneyland! Space Mountain I’ve seen the movie, and I, personally, thought it was…well…fantastic, but it’s also pretty fantastic that Disney has brought The Fantastic Four to Disneyland in a variety of ways. Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, or The Thing are currently meeting people in Tomorrowland (which looks a lot LIKE the setting of the movie). You can also pick up some limited-time snacks and drinks celebrating the release of the movie. Well, another FANTASTIC thing is happening in Disneyland…and it’s happening at Space Mountain. From now through September 21st, Space Mountain will be lighting up Tomorrowland with some special projection effects to celebrate The Fantastic Four and the Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration. Now, Disney is offering a special behind-the-scenes peek at how Disney’s VFX and Visual Systems Team made this magical nighttime spectacle happen. The video shows how the team worked on the projections after the park closed to get them just right. ©Disney Believe it or not, it’s been 10 years since Disney has done any projections on Space Mountain, so needless to say, the technology has changed a LOT since then. ©Disney That means it’s been exciting for the team to use new technology to bring this vision on Space Mountain to life. ©Disney The video also reveals that Space Mountain has a specific area that works best for viewing. So those panels on Space Mountain are what they focused on for the viewing area for The Fantastic Four projections. ©Disney The results, as you can see, are pretty EPIC, as you can see from the full video released by Disney: So if you’re headed to Disneyland, be sure to visit Space Mountain at night to catch the special projections! And we’ll let you know about anything else going on in Disneyland, so stay tuned to DFB for more. When Does Christmas Start at Disneyland? Want to Learn More About Disneyland? 16. Hong Kong Disneyland is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in tons of exciting ways! Disney Friends Live at the Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland We recently traveled there to check out all the festivities, and while we were there, we couldn’t help but notice a few things we’d love to see over in Disney World and Disneyland. While there was lots of entertainment we’d love to see in the U.S. parks, there was something in front of nearly every restaurant that we think restaurants at all other Disney parks should have too! In front of each restaurant in Hong Kong Disneyland, there’s a display of some of the dining options you’ll find on the menu. This is a great way to get a look at the different options on the menu, and they’re written in both English and Chinese. Food displays! If you’re like us, you may be very visual, so seeing the different items on the menu may help you decide what to get, especially if you’re trying out new cuisine. Lots of options! It also helps you see the portion size of the dish, so you can decide if it’s enough for you, if you need to order something additional, or if it’s large enough to share. We love this! Just imagine how helpful this would be in Disney World and Disneyland too! It’d especially be helpful for pickier eaters, or for parents of picky eaters, and would ensure everyone knows a little bit about what’s on the menu before they decide to step inside or book a reservation. 17. We’re in the Disney World parks every single day, and that means we know firsthand just what items are totally needed for your trip. The Rapunzel Owala How do we know this? Well, we’ve been in the parks plenty of times WITHOUT them and regretted it immensely, but we’re also well aware that there are countless viral products out there that are deemed “essential,” but they’re really just meh. However, we’ll tell you with our whole chest that these four items are 100% needed in the parks and worth the money! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Ultimate Toiletry Bag BAGSMART Travel Toiletry Bag When you’re packing for Disney World, you want to save as much space as possible while also packing everything you need. That’s where the BAGSMART Travel Toiletry Bag comes in! Genuinely, we were so impressed with this from the moment we saw just how much it can fit. Not only could we easily fit all we needed, but the lining inside also ensures there won’t be any issues with spills getting outside the bag onto your other items. Grab it right here! Stay Hydrated With COLD Water We love our Owala water bottle! There are a lot of water bottles out there that are great for Disney, but the Owala wins time and time again for us! Not only do they have super cute designs, but it also has a soft close spout that locks with another layer to keep it spill-proof while you’re carrying it around and especially in your bag. Not only does it keep your drink cold, but it doesn’t sweat on the outside, so it won’t get all your other items soaking wet! Grab it right here! Organize That Loungefly! HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer We love Loungefly bags just as much as the next person, but let’s be honest — when it comes to keeping them organized, it’s nearly impossible. Without the HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer, that is! With it, we’re easily able to fit so much in our bag and have no issue finding where we put everything. What we love most is that you can just pick up the organizer and switch it to a new Loungefly without much trouble — that way you know you’re not forgetting any of your essentials. Grab it right here! Keep Yourself Cool On Those Hot Summer Days JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan Having the JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan is a great way to keep yourself cool on those hot days. That’s not the best part though — while it’s easily rechargeable with the USB port, it also doubles as a portable charger itself and a flashlight! It’s great to have on you for any day in Disney World, since there’s very rarely a summer day we don’t need a fan OR a portable charger. It fits in your pocket or bag easily too, so it won’t take up much space. Grab it right here! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney essentials news to prepare for your next trip! 18. We’re celebrating something BIG here at DFB this week: the release of our very own AJ Wolfe’s first book, Disney Adults: Exploring (And Falling In Love With) A Magical Subculture on August 5th. Disney Adults Blue Hooch In honor of that release, we’ve partnered with some Disney World restaurants to bring you the Disney Adults Crawl, featuring eight EXCLUSIVE Disney Adults-themed drinks that will be available from August 1st through August 31st. One of those exclusive drinks can be found at Homecomin’ in Disney Springs, so let’s go try it out! First things first, though. If you haven’t nabbed a copy of AJ’s book yet, you should grab it now! If you’re interested in the Disney Adults Crawl in Disney World, we’ve put together a map and menu to get you started. Remember, you have until August 31st to grab these exclusive drinks for yourself. One of those stops on the Disney Adults Crawl is Homecomin’, where you can grab an exclusive Disney Adults version of Blue Hooch. This special version of the drink is made with Blue Flame moonshine, lemon-infused moonshine, blue curacao, house-made simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and a splash of Sprite for $16. Plus, it comes with a Disney Adults topper and coaster. Disney Adults Blue Hooch Okay, first, if you’re nervous about the moonshine in this drink, don’t worry — the drink maintains more of a fruity flavor than anything. This drink is going to taste more like something you’d get sitting on a beach on a tropical island, and that’s totally a vibe. If you like light, fruity drinks, you’ll love this one. It’s also quite pretty! It’s pretty! So be sure to download the map and menu for the Crawl and grab this drink — and more — in Disney World! WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose, but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! 19. If you’ve been to Magic Kingdom recently, you’re probably going to notice one common factor seemingly everywhere you look…construction walls! Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle With multiple attractions now closed to make way for new offerings like Villains Land and the Cars rides, there are several ongoing projects in this park. But there are also some closures and construction projects that you might not expect! That’s why we’ve gathered up complete maps of all the construction walls in Magic Kingdom right now to help you plan your vacation. Starting out this list at the front of the park, we’ve got to mention what’s going on with the Main Street, U.S.A. train station! The train station has been getting a slow refurbishment for a while now, and different sections of it have been cut off at different times as touch ups are made. Currently, if you’re facing the castle, the left-side staircase is blocked by construction walls and is unavailable, but the rest of the upper platform is good to go. Since this is a smaller project, this could change any day. ©Disney Heading closer to the castle, there are some construction walls up blocking the pathway outside the restrooms by Casey’s Corner. You can still get to these restrooms by walking through the courtyard; you just can’t use part of the covered awning area between the restaurant and the bathrooms. ©Disney In Adventureland, walls are still up inside part of Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the gift shop at the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean. This is in preparation for the new lounge going next door, The Beak and Barrel. The gift shop is still open with a variety of pirate-themed souvenirs during this time. ©Disney Quite a few construction changes have hit Frontierland recently, starting with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which closed at the beginning of 2025 to get a year-long refurbishment. It won’t reopen until 2026, but when it does, it’ll have a new track and other enhancements. Also, in preparation for the construction of Villains Land, the Frontierland train station is currently closed and has walls up around the base. You can still ride the Walt Disney World Railroad between Main Street Station and Fantasyland Station. ©Disney The biggest construction stretch in the park right now is the walls that went up after the closure of Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat. These cover sections along the water in Frontierland and Liberty Square, but they don’t block the entire river yet. ©Disney In Storybook Circus, the Dumbo the Flying Elephant indoor playground is currently closed for a refurbishment. Instead of construction walls, here you’ll find the area blocked by a giant curtain…it’s more circus-y, after all! ©Disney Cool Ship is a snack stand in Tomorrowland that’s currently surrounded by construction walls as it gets some updates. The snack stand typically doesn’t offer many exciting or unique menu options, so here’s to hoping it gets something new when it returns! ©Disney Last but not least, we’ve got to mention the impending closure of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. This ride will close on August 4th and will reopen in 2026 with some major changes. It will be getting new ride vehicles, a new ride scene, handheld blasters, and a more intuitive scoring system. How exciting! ©Disney That’s a wrap on all the construction walls in Magic Kingdom! If you’re visiting this park soon, check out our ultimate guide to Magic Kingdom in 2025 below. 20. Prepare yourself…big Disney news is coming soon! Magic Kingdom Now, Disney has already dropped some big projects recently, especially with the news about plans to overhaul Animation Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, in three days, we’ll get even bigger news that will include an update about how Disney+ is doing (and we might even learn about future plans for the streaming service), as well as details about how Disney Parks are doing financially. Yes, Disney’s earnings call is coming up on Wednesday, August 6th. That’s right. The Walt Disney Company will be holding its third-quarter earnings call for fiscal year 2025 on Wednesday at 8:30 AM ET (yes, CEO Bob Iger likes the early morning calls, so we’re getting up early that day). During the call, we’ll learn more about the numbers…as in how many subscribers Disney+ has and how much revenue it’s bringing in. We’ll also learn about the financial status of the Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line. ©Disney However, we often get other big announcements during these calls. For example, we may learn more about the timeline for Pueblo Esperanza, the land that’s currently under construction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We might get a new update about Piston Peak, the Cars expansion coming to Magic Kingdom, or maybe we’ll finally get more details about the Villains land coming to that park. ©Disney Perhaps we’ll get more information on the Monsters, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and learn more about The Magic of Disney Animation. ©Disney Of course, we could learn more about Disney’s upcoming movie schedule, as well as plans for original shows on Disney+. All we know is that we will be tuned in bright and early on Wednesday morning, ready to tell you about any big news that gets announced. So stay tuned to DFB for more. Why Monsters, Inc. 23. Okay, so a LOT is happening in Magic Kingdom right now. Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island have permanently closed as Disney begins construction on a Cars-themed expansion in Frontierland. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is getting a huge upgrade. A new villains land is set to go behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin A Tomorrowland ride is also set for a huge upgrade. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closes tomorrow, August 4th, so we decided to visit the ride this morning to see what its last day is like…and let’s just say, it was kinda surprising. We visited Magic Kingdom this morning and headed over to Tomorrowland to see what was happening on the last day of operation at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Well, we didn’t really see much going on. Not too busy The line for the ride was pretty much steady at around 20 to 25 minutes. In fact, we’re not sure folks are aware this ride is closing tomorrow! Wait times were decent this morning However, a little later, the ride wait time did jump up to 45 minutes, so maybe word got out, or everyone just slept in this morning. In general, this is a pretty long wait time for this ride. ©Disney While the ride is closed, Disney is adding a new show scene and making some gameplay enhancements to the ride. A new character is joining the ride, a robot named “Buddy,” who will make sure you’re prepared for your mission. The ride vehicles are also getting upgraded with a new design inspired by the colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command. Each vehicle will also have video monitors with real-time scoring updates and other features. The new vehicles will also have new handheld blasters. ©Disney The new updates are expected to come to the ride in 2026, so this closure could be a lengthy one. We’ll keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? 24. There’s something about the Haunted Mansion at Disney World that brings out people’s strangest behavior, and not in a good way. Haunted Mansion At Walt Disney World, the Haunted Mansion isn’t just a ride. This ride carries a big fan base. Hardcore Disney fans know every detail. However, the Haunted Mansion has seen guests act in ways that range from eye-roll-inducing to jaw-droppingly disrespectful. I’ve been going to Disney World for decades, and I have seen a few too many scary things that are, in fact, not a part of the ride. Let’s talk about some of the worst things you could do on this beloved ride. 1. Flash photography: Immediately, no. Let’s start with one of the most common and frustrating offenses: flash photography. Nothing rips you out of the carefully crafted, dimly lit world of the Haunted Mansion quite like a bright burst of light from someone’s phone. It completely destroys the illusion and ruins the experience for everyone else riding near them. And worse? Some Guests use flash for video, thinking it’ll help them “capture the vibes,” when in reality, they’re just angering everyone in a 10-doombuggy radius. Also, are you really going to go home and look at these blurry flash photos again? I doubt it. Singing busts 2. Phones in general: Just put them away. Even without a flash, a glowing screen sticks out like a sore thumb in the darkness. Whether it’s someone texting, scrolling through social media, or recording their ride for the fifth time this trip, phone usage kills the atmosphere. The Haunted Mansion is a storytelling masterpiece where your attention should be on the ghosts. Priorities, people! Hatbox Ghost in Disney World 3. Reciting the stretching room speech like you’re auditioning for Broadway. Look, we get it. The Stretching Room speech is iconic. Many of us know it by heart. But when you’re loudly reciting “this chamber has no windows… and no doors…” in your best Ghost Host impression on top of the actual audio, you’re not impressing anyone. Really, you’re just annoying everyone around you. This is especially frustrating for first-time visitors trying to hear it clearly for the first time. Mouth along, but let the Ghost Host do the hosting. We don’t need to hear you say it. 4. Grabbing at props like they’re souvenirs. While it may be tempting to reach out for that floating candelabra or see if that creepy doll is “really there,” keep your hands and arms inside the doom buggy at all times. Guests trying to touch show elements not only risk breaking fragile props but also triggering ride stops. This isn’t a haunted playground. Disney Imagineers spent years designing this ride down to the last cobweb. Don’t be the person who treats it like a garage sale. Haunted Mansion 5. Attempting to “scare” other riders across doom buggies. It might seem hilarious to lean across the track and grab your cousin’s shoulder in the dark, but please don’t. Guests reaching between the ride vehicles to freak out their friends not only create safety issues but can actually interfere with the ride’s motion sensors. Plus, no one wants a surprise hand flying out at them in the middle of the endless hallway scene. The ghosts are the ones doing a great job at haunting, let them handle it. Hitchhiking Ghosts 6. Pulling down the doom buggy bar yourself. When the Ghost Host politely instructs, “Please do not pull down on the safety bar—I will lower it for you,” he means it. Every time someone grabs the bar anyway, it causes a delay. He’s got it under control. Hatbox Ghost 7. Ashes. Yes, really — ashes. In what might be the most infamous offense of all, some Guests have attempted to spread the ashes of deceased loved ones inside the Haunted Mansion. As heartfelt as that might seem to the person doing it, it’s deeply disrespectful, against park policy, and frankly dangerous. It leads to immediate ride shutdowns and full sanitation procedures. Not exactly the magical moment those Guests were hoping for. Want to honor a Disney-loving family member? Please, leave the urn at home because it will not go well. “And now, a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural.Take your loved ones by the hand, please, and kindly watch your step. “ 8. The Ride Photo Will Tell On You. The Haunted Mansion’s on-ride photo captures Guests at their most unaware and sometimes, unfortunately, at their most gross. One of our reporters shared that their sister-in-law caught mid-nose-pick, completely ruining what could’ve been a spooky-cute memory. PSA: you’re still on camera, even in the dark. Let’s keep those fingers out of noses and inside the doom buggy, shall we? 25. Okay, so, yes, Disney World has a lot of construction going on right now — and it’s happening in three out of the four parks PLUS at some hotels. There are construction walls EVERYWHERE. Toy Story Land! In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, construction walls are up around what used to be Muppets Courtyard as Disney turns that area into a new Monsters, Inc. land. Plus, we’ll be seeing construction soon in Animation Courtyard as that area gets a complete overhaul. But some NEW construction walls have popped up in Toy Story Land…and what do they mean? We recently visited Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios and found ourselves surprised when we saw some colorful construction walls up near the restrooms in that land, across from the walls in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Now, this has nothing to do with all the other construction going on in Hollywood Studios, so what is this all about? New construction walls We’re eyeing this spot because it’s pretty small, and we’re trying to figure out exactly what could fit in there. Of course, the first thing we thought of was a snack stand or dining spot of some kind, especially as there has been some seating added around that area recently. Now, we don’t know that this is a FACT, but we’re (not so) secretly manifesting a new snack stand into being built here. What is it? Hey, maybe it could be a dining spot similar to Ice Cold Hydraulics, just a spot to quickly grab a beverage and snack, although we hope we get to see some unique snacks and drinks here. We love Woody’s Lunch Box, but it can get pretty busy there! It would be nice to have another dining option in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, don’t you think? For now, though, what’s behind those walls remains a mystery. Candy Painted Cinnamon Rolls at Ice Cold Hydraulics We’ll be keeping an eye on this construction and getting you more details, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
