Details for the 2019 Disney Dining Plans have been announced! Disney Dining Plans are a popular program available to Disney Resort guests booking a Disney World Vacation Package. The Disney Dining Plan Before we dive into the details, just a reminder that to be eligible to participate in the Disney Dining Plan, it’s necessary to book a Walt Disney World Vacation Package (also called the Magic Your Way Package). The Package includes your stay at a participating Disney World Resort and base Park Admission tickets for everyone in your traveling party. Let’s take a look! 2019 Disney Dining Plans Entitlements for the 2019 Quick Service Dining Plan include the following for each guest (ages 3 and over) per night of your package stay: Two Quick Service meals (entrée or combo meal at lunch and dinner and a beverage) Guests under 21 years of age can choose one non-alcoholic beverage (including specialty beverages — i.e. Artisanal Milk Shakes, Fresh Smoothies, Premium Hot Chocolates, or Soda, Coffee or Tea — where offered). Guests 21 and older can can choose either one non-alcoholic beverage (including specialty beverages where offered) or one single serving mixed cocktail, beer, or wine (where offered) within their meal entitlement. So, is any of this different from the current 2018 Dining Plans? Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen some changes to the Disney Dining Plan. In 2017, Snack Credit entitlements increased from 1 Snack Credit per night of a package stay to 2 snack credits for the Quick Service and Standard Dining Plans (the Deluxe Dining Plan remained at two Snack Credits). In exchange, the dessert was removed from the full Quick Service meal entitlement. Dole Whip Float at Aloha Isle An even more significant change occurred for the current 2018 Disney Dining Plans, when alcoholic beverages were included for of-age guests to both Quick Service and Table Service meal entitlements. Specialty drinks were also added for guests who are not of-age or choose not to imbibe. Boiler Mule at The Edison For 2019, all of the additions from the past two years remain with no significant changes (though, as per usual, there are pricing adjustments, which can be found on the individual Plan pages as linked above). Pixar Pier is opening in Disney California Adventure in a matter of DAYS, and I can’t WAIT to get there! Pixar Pier… opening SOON! Buuuut…while Pixar Pier will officially open on June 23rd, according to Disney’s latest post, Bing Bong’s won’t open until “later this summer.” We’re guessing that means it won’t be ready for this weekend??? But you don’t know exactly how much time to allow to get there from your Resort, since you don’t have access to your Resort’s bus schedule in your room as you get ready to go. Disney is rolling out a new feature on the My Disney Experience app which will allow Disney Resort guests to see real-time estimates for when the next buses will depart from their Disney Resort hotel, as well as when they will arrive at their destination! If you’ve ever wondered when the next bus is going to arrive at your Disney Resort hotel, the answer will now be right at your fingertips. Today, we’re rolling out a brand new bus time feature in the My Disney Experience mobile app that enables guests to spend less time waiting at the bus stop and more time getting ready for a fun-filled day in the parks. With this feature, guests can quickly discover up-to-the-minute estimates for when the next buses will depart from their Disney Resort hotel and when they will complete their journey to their destination. The app regularly updates in real time to provide the most current estimates for buses heading to all four theme parks, two water parks and the Disney Springs area. Guests can access the feature throughout their stay by tapping “See Bus Times” when viewing an active Disney Resort hotel reservation associated with their account. You may also notice that this My Disney Experience update brings a new and improved design to the app, making it easier than ever to navigate and find what you’re looking for – from the new bus time feature and mobile food ordering service to adding tickets, booking FastPass+ selections and discovering key park offerings. This is just the most recent example of how Disney is using digital technology to make the guest experience even more convenient. During the past year alone, we have added app features that allow guests to view room charges, keep track of Disney dining plan usage, check in online to start their vacation even faster, use their mobile devices as a digital key (now available at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and coming soon to additional Disney Resort hotels) and more. It’s even more sparkly than the Main Street Bakery Mermaid Cupcake, thanks to the addition of iridescent colors on the white chocolate mermaid tail and surrounding chocolate shells. Since Sarah (like many of us coconut fans!) can “never have too much coconut,” she would have enjoyed even more coconut flavor, finding the rest of the cupcake to be a bit bland depsite its playful design. As a reminder, we found that the Main Street Bakery Mermaid Cupcake — while having a very simple vanilla profile — nailed the taste factor (with both the funfetti cake and its richer buttercream frosting, too) as well as the overall look. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe Our Disneyland correspondent Heather (follow her adventures on Instagram @DiningInDisney!) stopped in recently to pick up two seasonal treats — both using summer’s jewel: lemon! Lemon Honey Cupcake and Meyer Lemon Strawberry Tart One of the best things about Jolly Holiday is the creativity of the eats guests can find in the pastry case, and the two distinct uses of lemon in the Honey Lemon Cupcake and the Meyer Lemon Strawberry Tart are a perfect example. Plus they’re purty. Lemon Honey Cupcake and Meyer Lemon Strawberry Tart The Honey Lemon Cupcake is lemon and top of lemon on top of lemon — and it’s dreamy for the summer! Lemon Honey Cupcake The topper is a cheerful fondant sunflower, with golden garnishes makin’ it look a little special. These are on top of a pile of fluffy Lemon Buttercream! The Honey comes into play here, sweetening the frosting without adding a ton of honey flavor. Honey Lemon Cupcake The cake is light and lemony — and it’s filled with more lemon filling! See? Lemon on lemon on lemon. Yes, this is a DFB favorite! (Also — holy cow, that’s a lot of frosting!) Honey Lemon Cupcake The second lemon iteration is completely different — and completely divine! The Meyer Lemon Strawberry Tart combines two of the season’s best fruit flavors. The appearance is a little… bright. And glittery. Meyer Lemon Strawberry Tart Inside the Shortbread Tart Crust is Lemon Custard with Strawberries. The combination is a terrific balance of tart and sweet. Last week, Marcus Scribner, a.k.a. Andre Johnson, Jr. on ABC’s “black-ish,” graduated from high school (in real life, weeks after graduating on the show) and then celebrated with his family throughout Walt Disney World Resort. To kick off the celebration, Marcus and his family visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom for some thrill rides, starting with Avatar Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar and Expedition Everest before meeting up with Launchpad McQuack, who stopped by the Tree of Life on his way to Donald’s Dino-Bash! In our Disney Doodle series, different Disney artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit a Disney Park. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor envisions what Mulan would do if she spent some time at Epcot. According to Ashley, Mulan may head to the China Pavilion in World Showcase for some exploring. “The China Pavilion is so tranquil and beautiful,” she said. “It’s easy to imagine Mulan finding time to reflect in that location.” View the full article

When the sun is hot, and a shady spot cannot be found, many guests are at a loss as to what to do in the parks to stay cool. Don’t worry the Disney Parks Moms Panelists have been there too, and they are here to give you their best tips for staying cool on a hot summer day. “When you’re exploring Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the heat of summer, sometimes you need a little break from the sun. My favorite way to take a break is to head inside to an air-conditioned venue and enjoy a show,” said panelist, Diane W. “Whether it’s an amazing live stage show such as “Finding Nemo – The Musical” or “Festival of the Lion King” (at Disney’s Animal Kingdom), or a beloved old favorite like Country Bear Jamboree (at Magic Kingdom Park), that short time spent sitting indoors and enjoying some fun entertainment is a great way to cool down and beat the heat!” Missy is a fan of bringing cooling towels to the park which she claims “magically keeps her family cool.” She also recommends stopping to enjoy a show like Mickey’s PhilharMagic, which is always a refreshing way to enjoy the magic and fun while cooling off a bit! She adds that while not scientifically proven, her family believes the coolest air in the theme parks can be found at the Epcot Character Spot! Hot temperatures also require guests to stay hydrated and Jacqui says she makes it a priority to drink a lot of water when taking on the theme parks. “We drink lots and lots of water. As a matter of fact, we always have a water bottle at hand. With all the fun and action it’s easy to forget and dehydration can come on super-fast. If we are staying at a Disney Vacation Club resort, we purchase a case of water ahead of time and pop bottles in the freezer. We bring water bottles into the parks in a small soft-sided cooler so they are always ‘at the ready.’” “Another great way to stay cool is to plan ahead for Table Service meals during the hottest times of the day. Relaxing in air conditioning while enjoying a delicious meal may be just the trick to refresh you and your crew so you can play the rest of the day,” suggest Jennifer V. Happy Father’s Day! As people across the globe celebrate dad today, we at runDisney are reminded of the many wonderful dads who have participated in our runDisney races. In particular, we can never forget the dad who literally went the extra mile for his son when the two participated in the Star Wars Half Marathon – The Dark Side presented by OtterBox here at Walt Disney World Resort in April. Timothy Spicer ran alongside his son Hunter as part of Hunter’s recovery from a car accident six years ago that involved head injuries that required him to relearn everyday activities, such as walking and eating. As Hunter continued to grow in strength, he and his dad began running local 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons together. In April 2016, they signed up to conquer the power of the Dark Side and ran the inaugural Star Wars Dark Side Challenge together. But for the father-son duo, the race weekend was about more than conquering the 19.3-mile challenge. After completing the 10K and half marathon races that year, Hunter told his father, “Dad, this is going to be our race to run together,” as a triumph over his accident. Since then, Hunter and Timothy have participated in all the Star Wars Dark Side race weekends, and the entire Spicer family joins them at Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate Hunter’s recovery and enjoy their special family time together. We never turn down an opportunity to visit Walt Disney World’s Epcot, and one of our favorite Epcot activities is checking out the new eats. Refreshment Port, located on the path between World Showcase and Future World, is a convenient spot to grab a quick bite. Epcot Beauty We were pretty thrilled when Refreshment Port introduced the Canada Pavilion’s Cheddar Cheese Soup and Cheddar Cheese Soup Poutine in January, but the menu has seen a little re-boot! Refreshment Port Guests can still get their hands on some Signature Poutine — a version that is made with Canadian Cheddar and Bacon Sauce (a/k/a Cheddar Cheese Soup!) — and on the popular Croissant Doughnut. Refreshment Port Menu, June 2018 And the Stowaway Mary? We loved this drink that came with chicken nuggets, but even this crazy concoction didn’t survive the latest update — not exactly. Stow Away Mary The Stowaway Mary now comes with a Jumbo Shrimp and a stick of Beef Jerky. How’s that for a funky new look (and taste!)? Stowaway Mary But I was pretty excited to find Traditional Poutine on the menu now! This classic is a pile of French Fries, some Brown Gravy, and squeaky Cheese Curds — totally traditional elements of Quebecois poutine. Classic Poutine And it’s as good as it sounds. No bells. No whistles. Just the right elements for a (slightly heavy) delicious snack! My only critique here was that the cheese curds are super cold, so even though the gravy is SUPER hot, it can’t make the curds as melty as they should be. The flavors are all there — and really delicious — but the cold cheese curds hurts the dish a bit for sure. Classic Poutine Dear Refreshment Port, we appreciate you. Thanks for bringing us some convenient Traditional Poutine, fried dough, alcohol with beef jerky in it, and cheddar cheese in liquid form. In the 2008 film “Bolt,” Rhino the hamster is a super fan of Bolt and Penny’s show, and helps Bolt and Mittens navigate through their crime-fighting journey.
