And though we are still eagerly awaiting menus for the thirteen Food Booths that will celebrate California cuisine, we have received word confirming four of the upcoming Food Booths (including some of their menu items)! I Heart Artichokes Booth I Heart Artichokes The I Heart Artichokes Booth will return for the 2018 Festival! Fried Artichoke carbonara with garlic aioli and smoked bacon And we can tell you that it will be serving at least two dishes from last year: the Fried Artichoke Carbonara with garlic aioli and smoked bacon and the Artichoke Cake Pop with dark chocolate and pistachios! Creamy artichoke and dark chocolate cake pop Citrus Grove Last year’s Lemon Grove Booth will be refreshed as the Citrus Grove Booth. Meyer lemon macaron with blueberry marmalade, Meyer lemon cream and blueberry dust But we are happy to say that the Meyer Lemon Macaron with blueberry marmalade, Meyer lemon cream, and blueberry dust will return! Nuts About Cheese Nuts About Cheese will also be back, still featuring “wine’s best friends”! Guests who visited Shanghai Disneyland this morning witnessed a unusual treat – a once-a-year traditional Chinese eye dotting ceremony to mark the first day of the Year of the Dog. God of Fortune Pluto, Mickey and Minnie were joined this morning by the general manager of the resort, Philippe Gas, who dotted the eyes of two lions during a traditional lion dance in celebration of Chinese New Year. In Chinese culture, the eye dotting ceremony is done to awaken the spirit of the lion and spread good fortune and cheer. Throughout Shanghai Disney Resort, families and friends can continue to celebrate this joyous time together with a host of traditional Chinese New Year festivities, magical entertainment, special menus and more through March 4. Offerings include a vibrant, high-stepping Shanghai Swing show, the resort’s first ever Wishing Garden and a daily drum ceremony. But that’s just a taste of all that Shanghai Disney Resort has to offer this Chinese New Year – there are many more special surprises everywhere you look. The Year of the Dog is already off to an incredible start at the resort and we’re so excited for what’s to come. This year will be packed full of fun and surprises with the opening of Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land on April 26 – guests can already enjoy a colorful picnic at the Toy Box Café – and the premiere of a Mandarin production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre this summer. Who doesn’t love a good ol’ MICKEY WAFFLE?! Learn About: Sleepy Hollow Magic Kingdom Disney World Restaurants Most of us like-minded Disney food fans sure do. But the thing is, without an Advance Dining Reservation for a Table Service restaurant, it can be hard to find them inside the parks at Counter Service locations, even though they’re a staple in the Resort food courts. Last year, you could find Mickey Waffles at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor when they served a breakfast menu, but that only lasted a very short while. Fortunately, now they have a new home in Magic Kingdom: Sleepy Hollow Refreshments! A fitting spot, since Sleepy Hollow is home to the popular Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich and the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich with Nutella. In fact, Sleepy Hollow has offered waffles topped with your choice of powdered sugar or strawberries and whipped cream for ages. But, while pleasant, they sure weren’t MICKEY-SHAPED. But NOW… Mickey Waffle YES — it’s a JUMBO Mickey Waffle!! Clearly, we ordered up the Mickey Waffle with Strawberries and Whipped Cream (for $6.79 or a snack credit (!!!!) on the Disney Dining Plan). Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Menu And, boy, is it ever loaded up with those toppings, from SO MUCH strawberries and glaze… Strawberries Poured on Mickey Waffle … to whipped cream topping those lovable ears! Mickey Waffle And you get a dusting of that powdered sugar as well, so there’s really nothing missing with Mickey (well, aside from his smile which is hidden under ALL THE STRAWBERRIES! But, hey, you can trust it’s there). Served up nice and warm, it’s just one more great option at Sleepy Hollow. Between this, the aforementioned sandwich waffles, and the Hand-Dipped Corn Dog, it’s getting downright difficult to choose here. Also, note that — per the menu pictured above — while there is a note that the Breakfast Egg and Cheese Waffle (complete with ham and tomato) is still marked as only being available until 12 noon, there is no such designation for the Mickey Waffle! This summer, beloved stories from several Disney films will come to life at Walt Disney World in the form of new attractions, entertainment, experiences and more at all four parks, setting up summer 2018 to truly be an “Incredible Summer.” Obviously one highlight of the summer will be the opening of Disney•Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” on June 15, 2018. In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible. Check out the first of her Aulani-inspired culinary creations, a Strawberry Macadamia French Toast Bake, in this video! Here’s the recipe, which you can recreate at home. Or, if you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member, this is the perfect dish to make part of your annual tradition while staying in your own Villa! Ingredients 3 cups cubed French bread 3/4 cups fresh strawberries sliced 1/2 cup macadamia nuts, chopped 3/4 cups heavy whipping cream 4 large eggs 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1/2 cup pure maple syrup 1/2 cup toasted sweetened coconut shavings Baking Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and lightly spray baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Place cubed bread, strawberries and macadamia nuts into baking dish. Place cream, eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt into a large bowl, whisk to combine. Pour evenly over bread mixture. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until set. Remove and let cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with toasted coconut shavings if desired and drizzle with pure maple syrup. View the full article

Anywhere Disney PhotoPass captures your photo during your Memory Maker window, you’re entitled to download that image as part of your active Memory Maker entitlement. For this month’s Best Bites we have some new offerings at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and more! But first, I’ve got some exciting news straight from Disney Springs! If you haven’t already heard, Wine Bar George will be joining the array of amazing new food and beverage locations that are being added across Disney Springs and will be opening its doors this spring. A new venture created by Master Sommelier George Miliotes, Wine Bar George will be the only Master Sommelier-led wine bar in the state of Florida. It will offer a unique experience that includes wine education, special visits from renowned winemakers and a wonderful menu with a selection of small and shareable plates, cheese and charcuterie boards and desserts. In addition, the location has now named its new Executive Chef – Ron Rupert! Rupert has been with the Walt Disney World Resort since 1988 and has been part of the opening teams for popular locations like Jiko – The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, where he teamed with Miliotes and Chef Clifford Pleau. Rupert and Miliotes have worked closely together to create a menu that will pair with a wine list of over 100 selections. The wine bar will be located in The Landing directly across from The BOATHOUSE® and is set to open its doors this spring. In other news this month, Mini Babybel® Cheese is now being offered at a variety of food and beverage and merchandise locations across the Walt Disney World Resort. As the official snack cheese of Walt Disney World Resort, you can find them in single or triple packs with the mild, creamy and delicious Original Mini Babybel® flavor. A good source of calcium and protein and 100% real cheese, this is a snack the whole family will love! In addition, Mini Babybel® will be featured at Woody’s Lunch Box – the new walk-up quick service window that will be part of the new Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For more information, check out our recent blog post about this location! Also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, ABC Commissary is welcoming new dinner platters and a new drink to their menu! The new platters are each served with steak fries and coleslaw and include a Shrimp Platter, a Fish and Shrimp Platter, and a Fish, Shrimp and Chicken Platter. The new drink is the Happy Daze – with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, melon liqueur, banana liqueur, grenadine and orange and pineapple juice. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Restaurantasaurus has added a couple new items to their menu. You can now order Battered Fish served with French fries for lunch or dinner, and new on the drink menu is the Prehistoric Margarita with Jose Cuervo Tequila, Triple Sec and lime juice. Over at Magic Kingdom Park, Casey’s Corner is featuring the All-Beef Buffalo Chicken Hot Diggity Dog as February’s Hot Dog of the Month. This all-beef hot dog comes topped with chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, celery and a garlic ranch drizzle. And once you’re done chowing down at Casey’s Corner, head on over to Plaza Ice Cream Parlor where you can cool down with this month’s featured flavor of ice cream – peanut butter! And if you’re dining at The Plaza Restaurant, you’ll want to try the new Warm Butterscotch Bread Pudding with caramel drizzle for dessert, which has my mouth watering just writing about it! In Frontierland, you can now find Happy Trails Mix at Westward Ho, with house-made marshmallows, pretzels, chocolate gems and mixed nuts. And the Golden Oak Outpost is serving up a couple new savory snacks as well, including BBQ Chicharrónes – pork cracklings with a BBQ seasoning – and Chili Cheese Waffle Fries with chili and white queso cheese sauce. Now open year-round, Tortuga Tavern has added a Short Rib Sandwich consisting of Chipotle BBQ short rib and citrus slaw served with a side of chips. This is also a good place to get Turkey Legs or an All-Beef Hot Dog. And last on the list, Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland is now offering a Hawaiian Flatbread as February’s Flatbread of the Month! This pizza comes topped with pineapple, ham, cheese and red sauce and will be available through the end of the month. It’s official! Toy Story Land, the highly-anticipated toy-filled land inspired by the beloved “Toy Story” films, will open to guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios June 30, 2018. When it opens, guests visiting Toy Story Land will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in on the fun Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Andy’s other beloved toys are having in Andy’s backyard. Here, guests can take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit and topped off with Slinky and Jessie. (Check out the time-lapse video above of one of Slinky Dog Dash’s first test runs). Families will also be able to take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, a galactic play set that Andy won from Pizza Planet. Here, adorable little green aliens swirl about in their flying saucers with guests in tow in their rocket ship toys, while “The Claw” hangs overhead. Guests can also walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, which has been a guest-favorite attraction at the park since it opened in 2008. Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will put even more guests in the action taking aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games. Gallery Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios view all Woody’s Lunch Box – actually, Andy’s lunch box that he’s set on its side – will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window setting. Sunshine Seasons is a beloved quick service lunch spot, and with cheerful decor and tons of menu options — including some healthier for you choices — it’s easy to see why. Learn About: San Angel Inn Restaurante Epcot Restaurants Disney World Restaurants Plus, it’s located in the Land Pavilion in Epcot’s Future World at Walt Disney World — and every WDW fan knows that’s the spot to ride Soarin’ and Living with the Land. So, you know, you’ll be there anyway. Why not score some good eats? And good eats they’ve got! We’ve long celebrated the dessert case here, where you can snag such sweet beauties as the Strawberry Shortcake and the Mickey Oreo Cheesecake (which is as adorable as it is yummy). And now the Rose Gold Minnie Ears Cupcake, of course! The savory options here are awesome, too, with some of the food growing right in the Land’s greenhouses showing up on the menus. One of the things we appreciate most about Sunshine Seasons is that the menu offers a lot of non-standard quick service items. Spicy Fish Tacos and Mongolian Beef are crowd pleasers, and guests with various food preferences and needs will find plenty of options here, too. Epcot’s Sunshine Seasons It’s time to let the sun shine in! Atmosphere Sunshine Seasons can’t be missed — literally. It’s the center of the Land Pavilion and features soarin’ ceilings, bright swaths of fabric, and massive floating globes (in the spirit of hot air balloons). You’ll look down onto the seating area as you make your way down to the lower level (where you find entrances to those rides we mentioned). Sunshine Seasons from Above If you’re looking for Garden Grill and its super fun character meal, that’s on the top level across from the pavilion’s entrance (you’ll look straight over the open area below). But everything else you’re looking for is on the lower level. When you arrive on the lower level, you’ll enter Sunshine Seasons’ ordering area and be greeted by a large menu board. This will give you an overview of the various food stations — including Sandwiches, Asian Noodles, Soup & Salad, and The Grill (and let’s not forget The Bakery!). Sunshine Seasons Menus — click for larger image Each ordering area also features an illuminated menu board above the station. And you can see the prepared food and on-going food prep here as well. Trays are located beneath each station so you don’t have to juggle your cupcakes and your rotisserie chicken. Sunshine Seasons Asian Cuisine Station There are also grab-and-go stations and designated Kid Zones where the littles can grab their sides and drinks. Bottled Drinks Kids Meals Beverages and Sides Across from the food stations is a long beverage area. You’ll select your beverage before heading to the check out. Beverage Area But, y’all, don’t miss the dessert cases. We insist. Some are grab-and-go and some are behind the glass. There are winners in both locations, so peruse and choose. Grab and Go Desserts Desserts! If you’re looking for the Rose Gold Minnie Ears Cupcake, this is where you’ll find it. (We all want to look at her again, so…) Rose Gold Ears Cupcake When you’ve made your selections, head to the check-out, where you’ll find a few more grab-and-go options as well. Check-out You’ll pass utensils, napkins, and condiments on the way to the seating areas, each of which has sort of an amoebic shape and a low wall encircling it. These seating areas are best seen in their entirety from above. They’re packed with tables and chairs (with some booths along the wall). This is fairly extensive, and it’s typically not too difficult to find a table. (Here’s a bit of trivia: the different sections are themed to different seasons, so check the table design to see which section you’re sitting in!) Sunshine Seasons at The Land pavilion in Epcot During busy meal times, Sunshine Seasons will be hoppin’. It’s a fun and cheerful place to eat — so let’s dig in! Eats On this visit I ordered a Reuben. This classic sandwich featured layers of Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, Sauerkraut, and Russian Dressing. The fillings are grilled between great Crusty Bread. Reuben Sandwich This was so good. Satisfying and exactly what a Reuben should be. The cheese was melted, the corned beef deliciously salty, and the bread perfectly crisp. This is definitely a solid option for a diner who’s after classic eats. But note that this is pre-made, so unless you’re willing to wait a LONG time, you won’t be able to get one customized to your tastes. Reuben Next up, I tried a guest favorite. The Slow-Roasted Pork was substantial. Covered in house-made BBQ sauce, it definitely made an impact on the plate. Slow-Roasted Pork with BBQ Sauce The pork itself was delicious; tons of flavor. But that sauce? Holy vinegar, Batman! It was so strong, this was hard to get down. I don’t know if this was a bad batch or of this is the standard level of vinegar in the BBQ sauce, but it was way too much for my taste. It was all I could smell for about an hour after being there! Slow-Roasted Pork with BBQ Sauce The sides for the Slow-Roasted Pork are sort of cafeteria-style: a big scoop of Mashed Potatoes (meh) and a piece of Corn on the Cob. But for a picky eater, these would be fine. But if you ARE a picky eater, or choosing a meal for such a person, get that BBQ sauce on the side. Sides with Slow-Roasted Pork So maybe we can’t say everything on the menu here is spectacular, but Sunshine Seasons is doing quick service just about as well as anywhere else in terms of selection and diversity of options. And we really appreciate that. Plus the desserts are not to be missed. I mean… Flower Pot Cupcake Nosh or Not? Sunshine Seasons is for you if: You are looking for a quick service spot with tons of options. You’re planning to spend some time in the Land Pavilion and want a convenient meal. Desserts are an important part of your breakfast, lunch, and dinner plans. You’re seeking vegetarian or healthier-for-you choices. Get your sunshine somewhere else if: You want to enjoy some of Epcot’s fantastic table service options in World Showcase instead. You don’t plan on spending much time in the Land Pavilion. You prefer to eat somewhere with more standard theme park food. Overall Sunshine Seasons is a terrific place to grab a quick meal or a sweet treat during your Epcot visit. It’s super convenient if you’re already in the area, and the options are diverse and tasty (for the most part!). Plus, it’s really fun, bright, and relaxed — just as your vacation should be! Food friends, it’s time to take a look at one of Tokyo DisneySeas’s most popular (and Instagram-able) snacks: the Chandu Tail! Steamy Chandu Tail Packaging! The adorable Chandu is kind of a big deal at Tokyo Disney, where he gets into mischief on Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage. Chandu gets into mischief on Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage! As the story goes, Chandu is Sindbad’s pet tiger, and together they embark upon an epic adventure — battling thieves in the process, of course! Chandu is big on adventure! And in this part of the park you can find just about EVERYTHING Chandu…including Chandu-themed eats! The popular Chandu Tails are sold at Sultan’s Oasis in the Arabian Coast section of Tokyo DisneySea. So cute, right? Hello, Chandu Tail! These are basically steamed buns with a filling of chicken, corn, and cream — what we might consider a simple chicken pot pie filling. The filling isn’t super prominent (there’s more bun than filling), but it’s flavorful and delicious. Chandu Tail Interior The exterior is really fun, with a dark stripe on vibrant orange. Chandu Tail Stripes But the Chandu love doesn’t stop at his tail. Nope — there’s lots more merch to go along with this yummy snack! How — how! — can anyone leave without one of those Chandu ticket purses? Chandu loot! In case you’re on the lookout for something to balance the savory tail at Sultan’s Oasis, you can also pick up some sweet Maple Balls. Maple Balls at Sultan’s Oasis These are served with or without a swirl of vanilla soft serve ice cream, and they’re accented with dark chocolate drizzle and candied walnuts. The Maple Balls are slightly chewy — somewhere between a doughnut and cake. And they’re addicting! (Check out this guest review of the Maple Balls and other treats from a few years ago!) Maple Balls at Sultan’s Oasis Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are spectacular — and if you are ever in that area of the world, it’s definitely worth a visit. Seeing the interpretation of Disney classics and the inventiveness of Disney’s theme parks in other lands is an experience of a lifetime. And the fun snacks don’t hurt either. I’m not quite sure, but what I DO know is The Disney Corner, filled with all that and so much more, is now open at Disney Springs! A delightful shop for women and girls, this new retail venue is open for a limited time – so make sure to make plans to visit during your next outing to Disney Springs. Disney Home, located in the Downtown Disney District, offers fans a variety of Disney-themed home-related treasures from glass wear to linens, kitchen goods and more. The curated assortment of home goods available will change with each season. The opening of the Disney Home store is a part of the continuous, promenade-wide transformation happening at the Downtown Disney District in 2018.
