It’s official! Disney’s Hollywood Studios will welcome guests to the highly anticipated Toy Story Land starting June 30, 2018! The opening date announcement was made live on “Good Morning America” on Friday, with a Slinky Dog attraction vehicle making its way into the Times Square studio in the early morning hours to be present for the big news. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we made the announcement. This week we also shared a look at what will be the new entrance to Toy Story Mania! Attraction (see image at the top). Once it opens, guests will walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania! Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will put even more guests in the action taking aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games. We just learned that Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be opening on June 30 — but in the meantime, we’ve searched out What’s New NOW at Hollywood Studios (and nearby Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts!). Let’s gooooooo! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Menus and Eats At pop-up bars around the park, guests can order two new seasonal drinks. Baby Blues is comprised of Tito’s Handmade Vodka (SHOUTOUT AUSTIN, TX!), Bacardi Superior Rum, Tanqueray Gin, Blue Curacao, Sweet-and-Sour, and Sprite! And you get a glow cube, of course. Green Screen is Absolut Pears Vodka, Midori, Pineapple Juice, and Sprite (again with a glow cube!). (Anyone else as disturbed as I am on the pricing of these?) Pop Up Bars Seasonal Drinks Over at Trolley Car Cafe, you can pick up this seasonal Red Velvet Cupcake, which is frosted with chocolate frosting and comes garnished with Mickey and Minnie! Red Velvet Cupcake at Trolley Car Cafe At ABC Commissary, they’re serving up Surf & Turf, which features chicken, fish, and shrimp — plus sides of fries and cole slaw. We love the thick steak fries here. Surf & Turf at ABC Commissary At Anaheim Produce, grab the new seasonal drink: Mango Colada. Yum! To make room for this tasty-sounding drink, the Frozen Beso Sol Sangria has been removed. Mango Colada at Anaheim Produce At Backlot Express, Galactic Lemonade is just the renamed Guava Lemonade that was introduced last month. Of course, the Star Wars tie-in is to be expected. Galactic Lemonade at Backlot Express Hollywood Scoops has changed out the root beer used in their floats. Previously, root beer floats were made with Coney Island Hard Root Beer. Now guests receive Not Your Father’s Root Beer. Hollywood Scoops Menu BaseLine Tap House has a new small plate: a Coffee-Rubbed Rib-Eye Steak Puff with Olive Salad. (Yeah, I don’t really know what a steak puff is, either, but upon a google search it seems to be steak in a puff pastry? Anyone out there have experience?) Baseline Tap House Menu Check out our ranking of Hollywood Studios’ restaurants — from worst to first — and a tour of BaseLine Tap House in this video from our YouTube channel! Merchandise In the world of Disney Parks merchandise, you can find several items that feature all four Disney World parks! This Cinderella Castle-shaped plate is covered with Parks icons! Castle-Shaped Plate Likewise you find iconic logos on this Mickey Mouse Profile Plate. Mickey Profile Plate This set of four shot glasses covers all the Parks bases with Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror, and the Tree of Life! Four Parks Shot Glasses The same images are featured on this set of four espresso mugs. We love the shape and size of these. Four Parks Espresso Cups For Hollywood Studios-specific merchandise, find this plastic cup and straw. Hollywood Studios Cup with Straw If you’re a Minnie Mouse fan or collector, there’s a limited edition Minnie Mouse figurine available. Limited Edition Minnie Mouse Figurine She’s adorably stylish! Check out that empowered mouse just doing her thing! Here she is! Minnie Mouse Figurine — Limited Edition! Of course, if you want to accent your own style, you can don this Spaceship Earth-inspired ball cap. Spaceship Earth Hat Thank the Phoenicians! Thank the Phoenicians! In the vast world of tiny collectibles, guests can purchase these Animators Collection Littles. Animators Collection Littles These are the characters available in the blind containers. Animators Collection Littles Possibilities The containers themselves are really cute! Littles Boxes Construction Construction continues in earnest all over the Studios, including the restoration of the Muppets Fountain. For a short period this was filled with plants, not water. We’re happy to see her return to watery glory. Muppets Fountain is back in action! The entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is shaping up — with dramatic concept art. Star Wars Galaxy Edge Entrance We are loving the detail here and can’t wait to see it in person! Galaxy Edge Concept Art The Hollywood Studios Skyliner station is a work in progress. Hollywood Studios Skyline Construction And concept art is on display. Hollywood Studios Skyline Station This piece gives us a little more perspective on the location of various aspects of the Skyliner in comparison with the current park. Skyline Station Overview They’ve also displayed the Skyliner map here. Skyliner Map Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts Over at Art of Animation Resort, the resort’s food court — Landscape of Flavors — has added Chicken Parmesan to the menu. Sadly the Cheesy Pesto Bread we’ve always loved is gone. Womp, womp. Landscapes of Flavor Menu The seasonal drink at Art of Animation’s Drop-Off Pool Bar is Cupid’s Pink Arrow — a concoction of Absolut Vodka, Triple Sec, Raspberry Puree, a fresh strawberry garnish, and a glow cube. Cupid’s Pink Arrow at the Drop-Off Pool Bar at Art of Animation At Everything Pop at Pop Century Resort, guests can now get a Rum Smoothie. Healthy in so many ways. Rum Smoothie at Landscapes of Flavor There’s also a draft beer on tap at Everything Pop: Funky Buddha. This is the first draft beer we’ve seen here — and it’s a good one! Funky Buddha Draft Beer at Everything Pop The Candy Hearts Cupcake is a pretty, sugary seasonal option in the dessert case here. Candy Hearts Cupcake at Everything Pop One big change at Everything Pop is Artisanal Pizza now served at the first window, where desserts used to be served. Artisanal Pizza at Everything Pop Flatbreads are no longer on the menu here, so these Artisanal Pizzas are a fun replacement. Artisanal Pizza at Everything Pop And that’s all she wrote, Disney food friends! Stay tuned for all the latest from the World in our next What’s New installment! It’s not easy being a Disney Princess, but somehow Disney Legend Paige O’Hara pulls it off without a hitch. As the voice of one Disney’s most iconic characters, O’Hara has pretty much lived the part of Belle from the animated version of Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast” since 1991. And her popularity shows no signs of waning. A celebrated Broadway actress and singer – even before Disney came knocking – O’Hara has pursued other creative outlets along with her “royal” duties in the years since the first film premiered. Lucky for us, she has graciously offered to showcase them for guests at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. Not only does she act and sing, she is also a fabulous painter, and festival goers can take home some of her beautiful Disney-inspired artwork. The renaissance woman will be signing her artwork at the Disney Fine Art by Collectors Editions Fountain Stage Tent now through the end of the festival at 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. each day. Guests must purchase a piece of her artwork to sign and are limited to two items signed per guest. We caught up with Paige during some down time before her first workshop and she told us about all the fun she’s having with the visual arts. The Epcot International Festival of the Arts runs through Monday, Feb 19. For more information, check out disneyworld.com and stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more information on exciting things coming to Epcot. View the full article

ʻElepaio means Flycatcher Bird. February is Hawaiian Language Month, and I love any reason to celebrate Hawaiian language. This leads me to a special bird found here in Hawai‘i that was known to be one of the most talkative in the forest: the ‘elepaio, or the flycatcher. There are many stories about this bird, but one of the most interesting is that it was once used to help select trees to be made into canoes. The ʻelepaio was very social, and when Hawaiians of old would go into the forest, the happy bird would provide its aloha to those who passed by. This was useful because if an ʻelepaio was on a tree, that meant there were flies and bugs on the tree (it is a fly-catcher, after all) so it would not be a good tree to carve into a canoe. They were makaʻala, or vigilant, since those canoes had to cross great oceans. At KA WAʻA Luʻau, you can learn all about how voyaging canoes journeyed throughout the Pacific with the stars, tides, and winds to guide them to Hawai’i. Also, if you’d like to learn more about the birds of Hawaiʻi, I invite you to check out our boutique shop Hale Manu, which translates to bird house, where you can find carved sculptures of our native birds, and the perfect souvenir to take home with you on your return journey. A hui hou, until we meet again. Note: In printed materials, Aulani Resort uses the contemporary spelling of Hawaiian words, which includes marks such as the kahako (macron). Because these marks do not often display correctly in electronic formats, including the text of the Disney Parks Blog, we’ve omitted them to ensure clarity. View the full article

To get ready for their new movie ZOMBIES, Disney Channel stars Meg and Milo visited Walt Disney World Resort with a goal of finding the zombiest things. Fans followed the two stars in real-time on the WDWBestDayEver Instagram account as they interacted through polls to vote for which characters they should meet, attractions to experience, and accessories to wear. Meeting Cruella de Vil and singing in the caves on Tom Sawyer’s Island were among the audience’s top picks. Meg and Milo also braved the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom Park and watched the “Festival of Fantasy” parade. The two Disney fans even got a welcome wave from Miss Minnie Mouse on top of her float. Maybe Meg got her attention with her gorgeous Minnie ears? Watch “Thattaway: ZOMBIES Edition,” a behind the scenes take on the ZOMBIE-fied day below: Meg and Milo are fired up for the Disney Channel Original Movie, “ZOMBIES,” premiering Friday, February 16th at 8 p.m. on Disney Channel. The movie mashes cheer and monsters. It’s two insanely different universes, but when they come together, it just makes sense. Gather your family for the #DisneyZOMBIES takeover! Guests who visited Shanghai Disneyland this morning witnessed a unusual treat – a once-a-year traditional Chinese eye dotting ceremony to mark the first day of the Year of the Dog. God of Fortune Pluto, Mickey and Minnie were joined this morning by the general manager of the resort, Philippe Gas, who dotted the eyes of two lions during a traditional lion dance in celebration of Chinese New Year. In Chinese culture, the eye dotting ceremony is done to awaken the spirit of the lion and spread good fortune and cheer. Throughout Shanghai Disney Resort, families and friends can continue to celebrate this joyous time together with a host of traditional Chinese New Year festivities, magical entertainment, special menus and more through March 4. Offerings include a vibrant, high-stepping Shanghai Swing show, the resort’s first ever Wishing Garden and a daily drum ceremony. But that’s just a taste of all that Shanghai Disney Resort has to offer this Chinese New Year – there are many more special surprises everywhere you look. The Year of the Dog is already off to an incredible start at the resort and we’re so excited for what’s to come. This year will be packed full of fun and surprises with the opening of Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land on April 26 – guests can already enjoy a colorful picnic at the Toy Box Café – and the premiere of a Mandarin production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre this summer. We can’t wait to celebrate another exciting year with you! View the full article

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ MICKEY WAFFLE?! Learn About: Sleepy Hollow Magic Kingdom Disney World Restaurants Most of us like-minded Disney food fans sure do. But the thing is, without an Advance Dining Reservation for a Table Service restaurant, it can be hard to find them inside the parks at Counter Service locations, even though they’re a staple in the Resort food courts. Last year, you could find Mickey Waffles at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor when they served a breakfast menu, but that only lasted a very short while. Fortunately, now they have a new home in Magic Kingdom: Sleepy Hollow Refreshments! A fitting spot, since Sleepy Hollow is home to the popular Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich and the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich with Nutella. In fact, Sleepy Hollow has offered waffles topped with your choice of powdered sugar or strawberries and whipped cream for ages. But, while pleasant, they sure weren’t MICKEY-SHAPED. But NOW… Mickey Waffle YES — it’s a JUMBO Mickey Waffle!! Clearly, we ordered up the Mickey Waffle with Strawberries and Whipped Cream (for $6.79 or a snack credit (!!!!) on the Disney Dining Plan). Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Menu And, boy, is it ever loaded up with those toppings, from SO MUCH strawberries and glaze… Strawberries Poured on Mickey Waffle … to whipped cream topping those lovable ears! Mickey Waffle And you get a dusting of that powdered sugar as well, so there’s really nothing missing with Mickey (well, aside from his smile which is hidden under ALL THE STRAWBERRIES! But, hey, you can trust it’s there). Served up nice and warm, it’s just one more great option at Sleepy Hollow. Between this, the aforementioned sandwich waffles, and the Hand-Dipped Corn Dog, it’s getting downright difficult to choose here. Also, note that — per the menu pictured above — while there is a note that the Breakfast Egg and Cheese Waffle (complete with ham and tomato) is still marked as only being available until 12 noon, there is no such designation for the Mickey Waffle! It can be yours any time of day . Find out more about the Wonderful World of Mickey Waffles here! And let us know which Sleepy Hollow waffle tops your list! Which waffle will you be ordering at Sleepy Hollow on your next visit? Please let us know with a comment! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! This summer, beloved stories from several Disney films will come to life at Walt Disney World in the form of new attractions, entertainment, experiences and more at all four parks, setting up summer 2018 to truly be an “Incredible Summer.” Obviously one highlight of the summer will be the opening of Disney•Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” on June 15, 2018. In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible. Check out the latest special look above! Disney•Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” busts into theaters – including AMC Disney Springs 24 on June 15, 2018. View the full article

When planning your vacation to Walt Disney World Resort, you’re probably focused on selecting your accommodations, purchasing tickets, and maybe determining which experiences you absolutely have to fit in during your visit. But one other important aspect of your vacation you’ll want to consider before arriving is how you’ll capture and preserve the memories you’ll make at Walt Disney World Resort. For many, Memory Maker is a great option. So today I’m going to share some of the most frequently asked questions I receive about this product so you can determine if it’s right for you. Here we go! How is Memory Maker related to Disney PhotoPass Service? Disney PhotoPass Service has photographers stationed around Walt Disney World Resort ready to get your entire family in the photo and cameras ready to capture your experience at select attractions. Memory Maker is a product offered by Disney PhotoPass Service. PhotoPass photos can be purchased individually, but when you purchase Memory Maker, you receive unlimited digital downloads of all your PhotoPass photos taken during your Memory Maker window for one price. So the more photos you take, the more value you receive! Which Disney PhotoPass photos are included with Memory Maker? Anywhere Disney PhotoPass captures your photo during your Memory Maker window, you’re entitled to download that image as part of your active Memory Maker entitlement. This includes PhotoPass photos taken at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Character Experiences, either Disney PhotoPass Studio, iconic locations such as in front of Cinderella Castle, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, Enchanted Tales with Belle, and all attraction and dining locations with PhotoPass capture. Magic Shots, which add Disney Characters and other fun surprises to your photos after they’re taken, are also included with Memory Maker! Does Memory Maker offer any exclusive photo opportunities? While all guests can view attraction videos from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as well as Animated Magic Shots in their account, an active Memory Maker entitlement is required to download, save and share them. Note that a MagicBand linked to your account is required for you to collect and view attraction videos. Can my Memory Maker entitlement include my travel party’s photos? Absolutely! If you’re linked to others in your party through My Disney Experience Family & Friends and they choose to share their photos taken during your Memory Maker window with you, you’ll have the ability to download them. When should I purchase Memory Maker? Memory Maker can be purchased before, during or after your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. But when you buy early, you save: When you purchase standard Memory Maker three or more days prior to the start of your vacation, the price is $169. If you purchase standard Memory Maker during or after your vacation, the price is $199. If you think Memory Maker is right for you, I certainly encourage you to purchase it prior to your vacation, as the less time you spend figuring out which photos you’re going to buy, the more time you have to make the memories, take another ride on Space Mountain, or enjoy a Dole Whip! Have other questions about Memory Maker? Let me know in the comments, or give our Disney PhotoPass Guest Support Team a call at 407-560-4300! Memory Maker is subject to the applicable terms and policies available here. Includes photos taken during the applicable Memory Maker Window as defined in such terms (generally, photos taken (i) within one day for the One Day product or (ii) within 30 days from the date of first activation for standard Memory Maker). A MagicBand is required to receive certain attraction photos and other digital content. Online registration required. Disney PhotoPass Photos in your account will expire pursuant to the expiration policy available here. Downloads are restricted to personal use only. Not responsible for missing, lost or damaged photos. Subject to restrictions and change without notice. Valid theme park admission required for certain photo locations. View the full article

For this month’s Best Bites we have some new offerings at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and more! But first, I’ve got some exciting news straight from Disney Springs! If you haven’t already heard, Wine Bar George will be joining the array of amazing new food and beverage locations that are being added across Disney Springs and will be opening its doors this spring. A new venture created by Master Sommelier George Miliotes, Wine Bar George will be the only Master Sommelier-led wine bar in the state of Florida. It will offer a unique experience that includes wine education, special visits from renowned winemakers and a wonderful menu with a selection of small and shareable plates, cheese and charcuterie boards and desserts. In addition, the location has now named its new Executive Chef – Ron Rupert! Rupert has been with the Walt Disney World Resort since 1988 and has been part of the opening teams for popular locations like Jiko – The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, where he teamed with Miliotes and Chef Clifford Pleau. Rupert and Miliotes have worked closely together to create a menu that will pair with a wine list of over 100 selections. The wine bar will be located in The Landing directly across from The BOATHOUSE® and is set to open its doors this spring. In other news this month, Mini Babybel® Cheese is now being offered at a variety of food and beverage and merchandise locations across the Walt Disney World Resort. As the official snack cheese of Walt Disney World Resort, you can find them in single or triple packs with the mild, creamy and delicious Original Mini Babybel® flavor. A good source of calcium and protein and 100% real cheese, this is a snack the whole family will love! In addition, Mini Babybel® will be featured at Woody’s Lunch Box – the new walk-up quick service window that will be part of the new Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For more information, check out our recent blog post about this location! Also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, ABC Commissary is welcoming new dinner platters and a new drink to their menu! The new platters are each served with steak fries and coleslaw and include a Shrimp Platter, a Fish and Shrimp Platter, and a Fish, Shrimp and Chicken Platter. The new drink is the Happy Daze – with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, melon liqueur, banana liqueur, grenadine and orange and pineapple juice. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Restaurantasaurus has added a couple new items to their menu. You can now order Battered Fish served with French fries for lunch or dinner, and new on the drink menu is the Prehistoric Margarita with Jose Cuervo Tequila, Triple Sec and lime juice. Over at Magic Kingdom Park, Casey’s Corner is featuring the All-Beef Buffalo Chicken Hot Diggity Dog as February’s Hot Dog of the Month. This all-beef hot dog comes topped with chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, celery and a garlic ranch drizzle. And once you’re done chowing down at Casey’s Corner, head on over to Plaza Ice Cream Parlor where you can cool down with this month’s featured flavor of ice cream – peanut butter! And if you’re dining at The Plaza Restaurant, you’ll want to try the new Warm Butterscotch Bread Pudding with caramel drizzle for dessert, which has my mouth watering just writing about it! In Frontierland, you can now find Happy Trails Mix at Westward Ho, with house-made marshmallows, pretzels, chocolate gems and mixed nuts. And the Golden Oak Outpost is serving up a couple new savory snacks as well, including BBQ Chicharrónes – pork cracklings with a BBQ seasoning – and Chili Cheese Waffle Fries with chili and white queso cheese sauce. Now open year-round, Tortuga Tavern has added a Short Rib Sandwich consisting of Chipotle BBQ short rib and citrus slaw served with a side of chips. This is also a good place to get Turkey Legs or an All-Beef Hot Dog. And last on the list, Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland is now offering a Hawaiian Flatbread as February’s Flatbread of the Month! This pizza comes topped with pineapple, ham, cheese and red sauce and will be available through the end of the month. And just across the way at Friar’s Nook, you’ll now find yummy Fried Twinkies, served with your choice of strawberry, chocolate, vanilla or caramel sauce. View the full article

It’s official! Toy Story Land, the highly-anticipated toy-filled land inspired by the beloved “Toy Story” films, will open to guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios June 30, 2018. When it opens, guests visiting Toy Story Land will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in on the fun Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Andy’s other beloved toys are having in Andy’s backyard. Here, guests can take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit and topped off with Slinky and Jessie. (Check out the time-lapse video above of one of Slinky Dog Dash’s first test runs). Families will also be able to take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, a galactic play set that Andy won from Pizza Planet. Here, adorable little green aliens swirl about in their flying saucers with guests in tow in their rocket ship toys, while “The Claw” hangs overhead. Guests can also walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, which has been a guest-favorite attraction at the park since it opened in 2008. Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will put even more guests in the action taking aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games. Gallery Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios view all Woody’s Lunch Box – actually, Andy’s lunch box that he’s set on its side – will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window setting. The entire land will serve as a visual celebration of toys, with Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, Tinkertoys, and other familiar toys and game pieces incorporated into the land’s design.
