The fan favorite “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” is currently making its way through Disneyland park as part of Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration! This popular parade puts music in motion with Disney characters, performers and two new parade floats with eye-catching visuals and whimsical elements. Mickey starts the party in a larger-than-life opening as he and his drum corps kick off a lively, musical procession with Disney characters. Next, Chip ‘n’ Dale arrive with a giant new celebration cake, followed by Goofy pulling another new float, inspired by the classic and nostalgic Mickey pull toys. Mark your calendars! Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant will once again host the Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival in Disney Springs from March 15-17, 2019! Raglan Road Every year, the Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival brings awesome bands and excellent craic (fun!) to the popular restaurant, and once again this year, the celebration is three rollicking days long! The Raglan Road Irish Dancers Live music throughout the weekend sets the high-energy scene, and the headliner act will be Young Dubliners. However, NINE bands altogether will join the Raglan Road troupe of Irish dancers! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and you just knew the Donut Cart near Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Park was going to get in on the action. They’ve created two stylish donuts that are as delicious (and sweet!) as they are pretty. The Valentine Donut starts out simple enough with a basic yeast donut. But then… things get pink real fast. Valentine Donut Vanilla glaze is speckled with bright pink sugar sprinkles. Then there’s a swirl of frosting (much more on that in a sec!), and a white and pink heart-sharped marshmallow. The marshmallow is coated in white sugar, making it exactly like a certain treat you might peep in the grocery store. Valentine Donut Now back to that swirl of frosting. It’s strawberry cheesecake flavored, and it’s amazing. And not only is it on top of the donut, it’s also the filling in the donut. Eaten alone, the frosting is so good, and combined with the donut, it’s really rich and filling. Valentine Donut But there’s more! The Mickey Valentine Surprise Donut has a chocolate glaze and cute heart-shaped sprinkles. It’s topped with another sugar-coated marshmallow, this time red sugar on a pink marshmallow. Mickey Valentine Surprise Donut The filling and frosting swirl on this donut tastes like chocolate pudding and feels like chocolate mousse. So it’s ridiculous. So delicious and smooth. Mickey Valentine Surprise Donut Both of the donuts taste great when you get a bite of all the components at once, but we found ourselves eating the marshmallows separately, just because it sort of made sense to take them off. Last month, we told you the large and exotic bird known as “Kevin,” from Disney•Pixar’s “Up!,” appeared to be migrating north from Paradise Falls in the direction of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As you can see from this exclusive footage, it looks like she’s been spotted on the park’s Discovery Island! Did you know that one out of five birds – over 2,000 species – migrate from one geographic location to another every year? According to our friends with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team, many of those birds pass through Walt Disney World Resort on their travels. Nearly one-third of the resort serves as an important corridor for many species, such as purple martins who spend their entire winter here and raise a family before returning home to Brazil. I’ve also discovered that this adorable plush version of Kevin arrives in mid-February at select merchandise locations in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, such as Island Mercantile and Discovery Trading Co. Ballast Point opened just under a month ago in Downtown Disney, making it the first on-site brewery at Disneyland Resort. This week, Disney Parks Blog readers were among the first to learn that the story and vibrant music of Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” is coming to the Mexico pavilion at Epcot, courtesy of the incomparable Mariachi Cobre – beginning March 6! The musicians of Mariachi Cobre will be joined by a pair of Folklórico dancers to tell the tale of Miguel Rivera, his love of music, and his journey to find what matters most – his familia. The dancers will perform to the music of the film, pulling everyone into the celebration, and Miguel himself appears in the form of a whimsical, hand-crafted puppet. Also, the Super Bowl celebration made its way from Atlanta to Walt Disney World Resort this week when New England Patriots stars Tom Brady and Julian Edelman took part in a magical parade at Magic Kingdom Park. And now we’ve got one more thing to add to the list…and it’s already selling out wherever it’s been available! That said, Disney California Adventure cast members told our reporters that despite being put on display just this morning, the necklaces were already sold out in two stores. It seems as though the highly anticipated return of the World of Color nighttime spectacular to Disney California Adventure is happening soon! World of Color We want to note that the official return date from the show’s refurbishment has not yet been confirmed (as of press time) on the Disneyland website; however, there are some indications from the World of Color dining event pages. World of Color Dessert Party For instance, the page for the World of Color Dessert Party reveals dates beginning February 22nd. That said, no bookable times show up for that date. Additionally, the World of Color Dining Packages for Wine Country Trattoria do not appear until February 23rd. Carthay Circle Restaurant packages, on the other hand, do populate (but are not yet bookable) for February 22nd… whew! So, a call to Disneyland DINE (714-781-3463) resulted in learning that the show appears to be slated to return on Friday, February 22nd (even though the specialty dining events are not entirely bookable for that date). Dessert Party View for World of Color We do want to stress again, however, that the date is not yet confirmed on the Disneyland website, so we won’t call February 22nd as the return date until we hear more officially from Disney. In any case, though, it seems like Disney California Adventure is preparing for guests to be able to enjoy the World of Color spectacular again soon!! With so many eateries in Disney Springs, there is always something new with the FOOD in Disney World’s shopping, dining, and entertainment district. So today we’re peeking at a few menus to check out some recent changes! The Polite Pig A stop at The Polite Pig in Town Center reveals LOTS of new items including Burnt Ends BBQ Meatballs, a Smoked Turkey BLT, and Smoked Turkey Breast among entrée options. Caesar Salad is a new side, and be sure to ask about the Seasonal Side which will feature the “chef’s whim!” Polite Pig Menu The new Bee’s Knees Small Batch Cocktail mixes London Dry Gin with honey and lemon. Kids also have new choices on the menu like BBQ Meatballs and a Sliced Smoked Turkey Breast. The Polite Pig Insists And for dessert? Red Velvet Cake makes the list, and the Orange Blossom Honey Cake is now Orange Blossom Pie. These new items take the place of the Kids’ Smoked Half Hen, BBQ Sausage Hoagie, Smoked Root Vegetables side, and the Carrot Cake. The Polite Pig Signature Sauces For Sale And don’t forget… a few of The Polite Pig’s most popular sauces are now available in bottles for take-home purchase! Construction continues in earnest in Disney Springs’ West Side, where we’re eagerly awaiting the completion of the NBA Experience and Jaleo — with its quick service appendage Pepe. There’s been a lot of progress on both — including glorious copper-colored roofing at Jaleo! Jaleo Construction How amazing is this roof design? The color seems to mimic Spanish roof tiles (concept art seemed to indicate a much more yellow/gold roof, so we’ll keep an eye on this), while the layers create visual interest. Jaleo Construction Large lettering will spell J-A-L-E-O on windows spanning the entire building, and those seem to be up and completed! Jaleo Construction Click here to take a peek at Jaleo’s upcoming menu! To the left side of the building is a bright red, tiled exterior at the base of which will be the quick service spot Pepe. Jaleo Construction Pepe signage is up and echoes the red and yellow seen elsewhere in the design. Jaleo Construction In fact the whole left side of the building makes a huge statement in bright red! Such a vibrant addition to Disney Springs! Jaleo Construction In contrast to Jaleo’s Spanish design, the NBA Experience in West Side is a play on metal and curves! NBA Experience Exteriors are much further along now, and the overall look is much more fleshed out. NBA Experience This large white curve appears to hold court over the entrance. NBA Experience And the outline of players in action has begun on the upper portion. NBA Experience Based on concept art, these figures will remain somewhat shadowy and undefined. But it’s a design that should stand the test of time no matter what star players come and go. NBA Experience This modern, linear look is in keeping with some of the other modern/industrial design we’ve seen elsewhere in Disney Springs. NBA Experience The left side of the building has a defined shape now, but its skeleton remains exposed for now.
