  5. Not a moment too soon, the original Corn Dog Nuggets have RETURNED to Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom! Casey’s Corn Dog Nuggets You may recall that just over a week ago, we reported that Casey’s popular Corn Dog Nuggets underwent a sudden change when the mini dogs making up said nuggets had been swapped out for chicken. Casey’s Corn Dog Nuggets The typically tasty nuggets lacked both color and a punch of flavor with the switcheroo, according to many guests, and the comments, concerns, and complaints poured in accordingly. My friends… Casey’s Corn Dog Nugget Casey has heard you. Casey’s Corn Dog Nuggets (and a Hidden Mickey!) 7. Do you have a favorite Star Wars creature that you’ve always wanted to bring home with you? Well, it’s highly likely you’ll find what you’re looking for at the Creature Stall in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Bina’s Creature Stall The small stall’s proprietor is an Amani alien named Bina, who is said to “scour star systems” to keep her store stocked. Cages line the shop housing your future pal (or pals, depending on how many creatures you care to surround yourself with back home). Inside are breathing, active creatures, so play nice! Creatures in the Creature Stall You’ll catch glimpses of galactic creatures from Porgs to Kowakian monkey-lizards like Jabba’s companion, Salacious B. Crumb. Kowakian Monkey Lizard Basically, some are cute, and some are… well, I guess it can be said that “cute” is in the eye of the beholder! And, here’s the thing… many of the creatures you encounter here offer even more than meets the eye. Lifelike sounds and movements can be activated, for instance, with the Porg. (Here’s mine in his package — I mean, cage — below!) It really is like taking a true Star Wars pet home with you! Porg in His Carrying Case! Kowakian monkey-lizards can perch on your shoulder (much like the Banshees of Disney World’s Pandora)! Also like the Banshees, your monkey-lizard can move his head at your direction. AND he has that laugh. They come in both brown or blue and yellow and you’ll find them just around the corner at the aptly named Creature Corner! Kowakian Monkey Lizards If you’d prefer a plush pet, why not take home a stuffed Loth Cat? Loth Cat Plush Plush Bantha, Tauntaun and Wampas are available as well — this Bantha might not provide Blue Milk, but he sure is cute! Plush Bantha Plush Wampa This Worrt is ready to catch his own dinner with a retractable tongue! Worrt at The Creature Stall You’ll also find figurines of Dewbacks, Krykna spiders, winged Mynocks and Neebrays, Puffer Pigs and even a Rathtar. Dewback at The Creature Stall Kyrkna Spider at The Creature Stall Puffer Pig at The Creature Stall Creatures in The Creature Stall Adopting a Kowakian monkey-lizard will set you back $69.99, while Porgs cost $44.99. You may just be leaving Batuu with a new pet in tow! 8. It’s difficult to choose one eatery to be most excited about in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While grabbing a drink in a true Star Wars cantina tops a lot of lists (and can now be crossed off, thanks to the opening of Oga’s Cantina), many guests have been fascinated with Blue Milk ever since they first saw Luke Skywalker help himself to a glass in Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope. Disneyland Gets Its Very Own Blue Milk Stand! So when it was revealed that planet Batuu would have its very own Milk Stand for guests to grab a glass of Blue Milk of their very own (or Green Milk, also made famous by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi)… well, practically the whole galaxy rejoiced! Atmosphere You could call the Milk Stand a simple stand in that it only serves up a couple of options. Except — like everything else in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — it’s anything but simple due to the sheer amount of immersive detail visitors can enjoy even at this “simple stand” on Batuu. In Front of the Milk Stand You’ll find the Milk Stand in a sector of Black Spire Outpost controlled by the First Order directly across from First Order Cargo and the docked TIE Echelon. Tie Echelon in the First Order Area of Galaxy’s Edge Hanging from the roof are spherical glass containers holding Blue & Green Milk. Various weathered milk jugs stand in front of the market as well. Behind the counter, citizens of Batuu will grab your frosty concoction from behind a series of sliding doors that open and close as needed. Counter at the Milk Stand Blue Milk Now, Blue Milk is not exactly the quick-pouring liquid you see Luke pour in Aunt Beru’s kitchen in A New Hope. Batuu’s Blue Milk is, rather, a frozen beverage. It’s non-dairy and plant-based, made with coconut and rice milks. Blue Milk is flavored with dragon fruit, pineapple, lime, and watermelon although we didn’t find the flavor to be very strong. (The hue, however, is spot on.) Blue Milk Note that you CAN also grab some Blue Bantha Milk with a cookie at Oga’s Cantina, but that’s its own beverage altogether. Green Milk Like Blue Milk, Green Milk is also served frozen, so again it varies a bit from how Luke Skywalker… umm, “enjoyed” it on Ahch-To by way of a Thala-Siren. It’s likewise made with coconut and rice milks. Green Milk From a flavor perspective, there is an emphasis on citrus with flavor notes of mandarin orange, passion fruit, grapefruit, and orange blossom. But, again the flavor was not too strong… the color, on the other hand, is a VERY vibrant neon green. There will be no doubt on your social media that you are indeed drinking Green Milk. And drinking Blue or Green Milk WHILE ON BATUU is going to be one of the most Instagram-worthy pics I can imagine, and you can’t put a price on that. Except you can totally put price on that: both Blue and Green Milk are $7.99, and you’ll find them, of course, at the Milk Stand! Disclosure: In nearly all circumstances, Disney Food Blog writers and photographers pay full price for their own travel, hotel, food, beverage, and event tickets. We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. 10. Bonjour from France! Epcot’s France pavilion, that is. This is where where we spotted a new refreshing-sounding beverage at Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie this week that we just had to try now that the Florida summer heat is most definitely upon us. Frosé Introducing the all new Frosé! Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie This delicious frozen beverage is made with Frozen Côtes de Provence rosé, vodka, and peach. And according to the Cast Member we spoke with, this baby is brand new. They shared that it took a few days to get the consistency just right during a testing phase. And let’s just say — they nailed it! It is absolutely perfect. Les Halles Menu Fans of “drinking around the world” will know that this isn’t the only delicious slushy beverage in the France pavilion. The Champagne and Wine Kiosk in the park has served up the Grey Goose Citron Slush and the Grand Marnier Orange Slush for years. Slush Machines in Epcot’s France Pavilion Additionally, some kind of special slush flavor usually makes its way onto the Festival menus at the France kiosk, such as the La Vie en Rose Slush which returned again to this year’s Flower and Garden Festival. It’s made with Grey Goose Vodka Orange, St. Germain Liqueur, White and Red Cranberry Juice. La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy The new Frosé slushy isn’t quite as sweet as the ones typically available at the kiosk — and we loved it for that! We found it very refreshing with a nice, light peach flavor. Overall, this is one we would absolutely order again. Frosé It’s the perfect way to beat the heat during a stroll through World Showcase! 17. Tucked into a forested space near the ancient ruins on Black Spire Outpost is a subtle supply post. While this makeshift spot is meant to fly under the radar, you’ll actually find all sorts of essential items to gear up to join the Resistance at Resistance Supply! Resistance Supply And, mind you… flying under the radar is indeed the goal. You’ll notice that the location is in open air, so everything can be packed up quickly and brought to a new base, if need be. But for now, members — and hopeful members — of the Resistance can meet up here to join in the cause with hopes of defeating the First Order. Rey near the Resistance Base You’ll spot supplies to aid the Resistance in its efforts like maps, tools, training supplies, and food rations. And Resistance hopefuls can also get some shopping done! Here you will find everything you need to join the Resistance like an Orange pilot-style jacket much like Poe Dameron’s and helmets to complete the look. Resistance Supply There is also an assortment of hats, jackets, and t-shirts. Resistance Supply You’ll also spot a few housewares like the mug below. (We love the color since it reminds us of all the greenery you’ll see on Batuu.) Resistance Supply Of course, you will also find other necessities for your adventures like resistance rank badges, pins, and figure packs! Resistance Supply Check out Hondo Ohnaka in the pack artwork below (and see him in action on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run here)! Resistance Supply Oh, by the way, if you’re more into signing on with the First Order… well, there’s a place you can do that, too (just click here). Will you join the Resistance? 18. Ever wonder what Ronto meat tastes like? Ronto Roasters Then you’re in the right place at Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! You may smell Ronto Roasters before you see it, as the spot lures marketplace visitors in Black Spire Outpost with the fragrance of grilled meat. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Atmosphere As you follow your nose, you’ll find it leads you through the marketplace towards Ronto Roasters. Then it’s time to take in some truly interesting sights! Ronto Roasters Ronto Roasters You’ll find your eyes are greeted by a podracer engine directly in the center hanging above a grilling pit filled with meats. The next treats are for your ears: be sure to listen as you may hear a bit of crackling and revving while everything is being cooked up! Ronto Roasters The entire contraption is run by a pitmaster droid, turning the mechanical spit. What’s he grilling? Why, it’s a side of Ronto — a beast native to Luke Skywalker’s home planet of Tatooine. Eats The Ronto Wrap is the specialty of the house! But there’s more to the menu here… Ronto Roasters Menu …so let’s check it out. Breakfast Breakfast options include the Ronto Morning Wrap ($12.49) which is filled with scrambled eggs, grilled pork sausage, shredded cheddar, and peppercorn sauce, all wrapped in pita and the Rising Moons Overnight Oats ($6.99). This is a mixture of oats, dragon fruit, yogurt, and seasonal fruits topped with a piece of starfruit. The presentation is gorgeous. Rising Moon Oats Lunch and Dinner The Nuna Turkey Jerkey ($7.49, and also available for breakfast) comes in both sweet and spicy choices. We decided to try the sweet option, though we think that calling it “sweet” really just meant that it wasn’t spicy. Turkey Jerky Overall this jerky was very salty and savory. The consistency was thin and crunchy, unlike the chewy jerky we were expecting. I’m not the biggest jerky fan, so this wasn’t my favorite thing on the menu. But, it is a great keto dining option. How about a Ronto Wrap ($12.99)? This surprisingly is one of the better food items in ALL of Galaxy’s Edge. The wrap is filled with roasted pork, grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, and a tangy slaw. Like the breakfast wrap, it’s all wrapped up in a pita. Ronto Wrap The pork sausage was SUPER flavorful and delicious, but it was quite skinny and way too small for the piece of bread. Therefore, we ended up having a TON of bread in the bite and not enough meat. The grilled pork slices helped a bit, but again, there simply wasn’t enough. The coleslaw and peppercorn sauce complimented the wrap well. And when it came to the pita, it seemed much closer to naan bread, actually. Overall, we enjoyed the dish and its components very much; we’re just bummed that the proportions were so off and hope for better in the future. Specialty Drinks The are three Specialty Beverages of the house. Specialty Beverages They are Meiloorun Juice (Barrilitos® Aguas Frescas Pineapple, Simply Lemonade® with blueberry, white cranberry juice, lemon juice, and desert pear), the Sour Sarlac (Minute Maid® Limeade drink with raspberry and spicy mango flavors), and the Tatooine Sunset (Gold Peak® Unsweetened Tea and Odwalla® Lemonade with melon and blueberry flavors). The location also serves fountain beverages and you have GOT to check out the soda fountains with drink names in Aurebesh like the exclusive to Galaxy’s Edge Coca-Cola bottles! Fountain Drinks Fountain Drinks We’ll be seeing you back here from Ronto Roasters again soon! Where can you not wait to dine at when visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? 19. Climb aboard the Falcon in all her ramshackle glory and settle into the cockpit to operate “the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, opening May 31 at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland park. Combining immersive storytelling with interactive gameplay, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run makes you the protagonist of your own Star Wars adventure in a way never before undertaken by Disney Parks. When it’s time for the mission to begin, you’ll strap yourself into the Falcon cockpit in groups of six. Each person is assigned one of three critical roles to complete your mission: Pilots, Gunners and Flight Engineers. I recently toured this incredible new attraction with Asa Kalama, Executive Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering. Let’s take a look! Following the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Chewbacca brought the Falcon to Black Spire Outpost for repairs at this spaceport on the edge of the galaxy. In exchange for some much-needed replacement parts, Chewie is loaning the Falcon to Hondo Ohnaka, a smuggler turned “legitimate” businessman, who is now making good use of the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. It is at this point you enter the story of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Take control of the Falcon when the attraction opens at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on May 31 at Disneyland park in California and Aug. 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.* *Reservations required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from May 31 to June 23 at Disneyland Park in California. Theme parks, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and its experiences are subject to capacity. View the full article

  21. The grain merchant Kat Saka runs a stall in the marketplace of Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. The local specialty is the Outpost Mix, which guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can enjoy here at Kat Saka’s Kettle! Kat Saka’s Kettle is a tiny little shop! The bustling marketplace is filled with shops and other places to grab a bite or sip like Ronto Roasters and the Milk Stand. Within the busy scene, you’ll be able to identify Kat Saka’s Kettle by the bins filled with grains from across the galaxy on either side of the stall. Kat Saka’s Grains Another identifying feature is all the color at the Kettle! In this weathered village of earth and grey tones, those colorful grains bring unexpected pops of various hues to let you know you’re in the right place. You’ll also spy bags upon bags of the merchant’s ingredients of grains and spices sourced throughout the galaxy. Kat Saka’s Spices Outpost Mix is a popcorn snack made with the very grain and spices which Kat Saka sourced himself. Kat Saka’s Menu The mix features both sweet and savory flavored popcorn. The sweet purple popcorn has a definite “fruity” quality to it although that’s balanced out by the savory red chili flavor. Outpost Mix Kat Saka’s Kettle is also where you can find the exclusively themed Coca-Cola® bottled beverages ($4.99) and Dasani® Bottled Water ($3.99). Batuuan Coke Bottles The thermal detonator Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, and Sprite bottles may be purchased with a limit of three per guest per transaction (and come in at 13.5 ounces of beverage). We’ll be seeing you right back here from Kat Saka’s Kettle again soon! 22. We’re stepping into the Toydarian Toymaker to explore all the whimsy and wonder of TOYS in Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Toydarian Toymaker TOYS sign Even in this village full of secrets and scoundrels, a kid’s still gotta play! And fortunately, local artisans on Batuu have crafted toys of all make and manner. Toydarian Toymaker But before we explore the toys, let’s explore the setting! Zabaka the Toydarian has positively packed her shop with toys and collectibles to the point where the eye can barely take it all in, including those of her own making and pieces by local vendors. Toydarian Toymaker This is no clean, crisp merchandise shop with neatly folded and stacked this-and-that. Piles of playful plunder are placed on makeshift tables and hang from the ceiling and on the walls. Toydarian Toymaker Some of these hanging toys include models of the Millennium Falcon and TIE Fighters in the style of mobiles. (Hello, that would be fun!) Mobiles And puppet-ized Star Wars characters also hang from the ceiling, so be sure to look up! Puppets! Aside from the toys for sale, there are also toys-in-progress to check out, as Zabaka keeps busy with her craft. You’ll spot crates full of toymaking materials and in-progress playthings like a rocking tauntaun, for instance. Toydarian Toymaker You may even spot Zabaka herself! Be sure to take a peek at the back window to see if you can spy her silhouette as she works on dolls and games like chance cubes and Sabacc. Zabaka may be hard at work back there! In addition to the lived-in feel created by the in-progress toys, carpets and draperies also lend an element of coziness. This is distinctive in a village that can’t exactly be described as “cozy,” and it works! In fact, Toydarian Toymakers is one of the most unique shops we’ve ever entered in a Disney Park. But cozy is the operative word. This shop is more like an alcove in the Market than a stand-alone shop. Space is definitely tight, and we would guess only about ten or so grown adults can fit and move comfortably in the space at a time. But NOW… let’s talk TOYS!! Toydarian Toymaker Crafted by local artisans, the pieces are unlike what we on earth might expect. Think cloth, wood, and tin for many of the items you’ll find. In earthly terms, they’re classic pieces and will make for some seriously cool collectibles for any fan’s Star Wars collection, young or young-at-heart. Toys! Dolls and Figures Zabaka has heard the tales that are told throughout the galaxy and has been able to create dolls based on those talked about in the stories. These hand-made-looking dolls include recognizable characters like Jabba the Hutt, Stormtroopers, Rey, Finn, Yoda, Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, and more. Dolls Metal toys with that hand-made quality are available, too. Shoppers can bring home old-fashioned looking metal toys of podracers and Millennium Falcon that are — surprisingly! — not as pricey as we might expect. Figures and models Games Also lining the wooden shelves are games — a wooden ball maze painted like the Millennium Falcon, a matching game with Star Wars characters painted on the wooden tiles, and ADD MORE HERE! These are fantastic souvenirs that provide fun like we maybe don’t see so much here on Earth with our mass-produced, packaged games and hand-held devices. Board games Other games include chance cubes and Sabacc cards — yup, Sabacc cards as seen in the franchise (it’s a favorite of Han Solo). Instruments Zabaka has also crafted musical instruments so you can form your very own Cantina band! Look for Ewok drums, wooden percussion pieces, and flutes. Instruments And if you think your Toydarian toys will be wrapped up in typical Disney Parks fashion, think again. Packaging in this shop is as unique as the shop (and land!) itself! Overall, Toydarian Toymaker is a fascinating addition to Black Spire Outpost. It’s a special moment, to select a toy that’s unique and imbued with the spirit of the place from which it comes. Toydarian Toymaker hits that mark for visitors to Batuu. Which of Zabaka’s creations would you make your own? Let us know what you think about this bespoke shop and its sentimental wares! 24. WELCOME to Savi’s Workshop — Handbuilt Lightsabers in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!! Actually, we should probably be a little less enthusiastic, as this spot is a guarded secret from the First Order. So, it’s best to keep things quiet. Understood? Great. Then let’s proceed… Savi’s Workshop (Shhh! Don’t tell!) When visiting Black Spire Outpost, you may just happen upon Savi’s scrapyard. Turns out, this is no ordinary scrapyard. It merely provides a front as a salvage business to disguise the true purpose of Savi’s Workshop. Do you sense the Force guiding you here? Then you may want to visit the Gatherers. These men and women — “keepers of the Force” — are dedicated to restoring balance in the galaxy. They do so by sharing their knowledge of both the Force and the ancient ways of the Jedi. You see, Savi himself was one of the original Gatherers. And it’s in this hidden space where a Gatherer can guide you in constructing a customized lightsaber that’s all your own. Select your hilt here! But first, you have to find the secret symbol to identify Savi’s workshop. You’ll recognize it when you see this blue banner with what might be a stylized lightsaber. Savi’s Workshop Banner Next, tell the Gatherer the secret password. And NOW… it’s time to begin the process of entering Savi’s Workshop. Logistics Your customized lightsaber costs $199.99 and includes a carry case. Additional customization is available at Dok-Ondar’ Antiquities. When you pay for your lightsaber outside the shop, you’ll also be given a colored cardboard card. You’ll also select your themed lightsaber hilt. Lightsaber Hilts Lightsaber themes include: Peace and Justice: Materials include recovered scraps of fallen Jedi temples and starships to create a Republic-era lightsaber. Simple designs are favored to honor the commitment of the devout life of the Jedi Order who served as guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy. Elemental Nature: “The Force is an energy field created by all living things; it surrounds us, penetrates us and binds the galaxy together.” Materials “born from the Force” — which include bits of Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones and Rancor teeth among the options — are used to construct these unique lightsabers. Protection and Defense: These earliest of lightsaber materials include hilt pieces etched with mysterious script meant to connect the lightsaber holder with “the ancient wellspring of the Force.” Power and Control: Materials are said to come from the rumored Sith homeworld and their abandoned temples to construct a lightsaber like those who chose the dark side. The designs are sharp in order to represent the brutality of the Sith and their dark desire to control the galaxy. Power and Control hilts Once you’ve selected your theme, you’ll wait. Possibly a long, long time. When your card color is called, you and a +1 will be moved into a holding area and be next to enter the shop. Waiting area at Savi’s Workshop Once inside, you’ll proceed through the selection and building process! No more than 14 people will be allowed into the shop at a time, and we saw about three groups entering per hour. And note that unless you pay for a lightsaber, you won’t be allowed into Savi’s Workshop. Inside Savi’s Workshop Savi’s workshop is filled with all manner of parts and pieces and memorabilia from across the galaxy. Savi’s Scrap Metal Savi’s Workshop Savi’s Workshop Savi’s Workshop Saber pieces, kyber crystals, and, of course, tales of the Force and the Jedi provide the tools you need. In the center of the workshop is the Builder’s Table. Fourteen builders at a time can gather ’round to begin the process of creating their very own lightsaber. Builder’s Table Cast members explain the process of building a lightsaber and walk builders through the entire process. Savi’s Workshop Citizen of Batuu With lots of pomp and circumstance (cool lighting, serious atmosphere, etc), the Gatherer explains the history of lightsabers and the characters who owned them. Then it’s time to choose your kyber crystal! Are you BLUE like Luke Skywalker and Obiwan? Green like Yoda? Purple like Mace? Or Red like the powerful Sith warriors? Select your Kyber Crystal Showing a Kyber Crystal Once your kyber crystal — which powers your lightsaber (not really…but in Star Wars Land) — is chosen, it’s time to start building! Your tray of metal parts is delivered to you… Saber parts …and construction begins! Gatherers will walk through the group and help. Building the Lightsaber Attentive builders Builders start with a cylindrical base that’s powered by Kyber Crystal. Builders place each part of the lightsaber Builders assemble their sabers And the whole build process takes about 10 minutes. Parts board during assembly Once you’ve got your saber built, it’s time for the next big reveal! Builders place their sabers in a special chamber to activate the kyber crystals… Before Activation and then this happens! All the lightsabers activate together for a really cool effect! Kybers activated! The final product is a customized lightsaber! Sabers assembled! Lights are dimmed so that builders can test the luminosity of their lightsabers. This… is really cool. Lightsabers! Then, there’s a final goodbye, builders are given a canvas sheath for their saber that they can sling around their backs (note that your lightsaber does not fold down to fit into your suitcase unless you take it apart yourself), and builders are ushered outside through a different door. And that’s how Savi’s Workshop — Handbuilt Lightsabers allows visitors to Black Spire Outpost an opportunity to assemble their very own lightsabers, thus participating in an age-old tradition known only in the Star Wars universe! The experience around the Builder’s Table takes about 20-30 minutes, so plan accordingly! And don’t forget: if you must build your own lightsaber, plan to head straight to Savi’s when your visit begins; lines have been very long during previews. And remember — the cost on your saber is at least $199. That’s steep. But if you’re a dyed-in-the-wool star wars fan…maybe it’s worth it. Savi’s is an engaging and powerful ceremony for Star Wars fans, and the opportunity to become one with the Force is particularly meaningful in Black Spire Outpost. We expect Savi’s Workshop will be a popular location for a long, long time. Will you build a lightsaber in Savi’s Workshop? Which theme would you choose? Share with us in the comments!
