Did you see the new live-action Aladdin film this weekend? If so, did you enjoy the rich, vibrant colors which beautifully set the scene? Aladdin Mac Event Then you may want to check out some of what we experienced recently at an incredibly fun media event for the new Disney Aladdin Collection by M•A•C and take a close look at the new cosmetics in the line! M•A•C shares that “this wish-fulfilling collaboration [with Disney] features smoky metallic and desert shades that reflect Jasmine’s strong-willed beauty.” Aladdin MAC Event We were even able to test out a few of the products from the limited-edition collection, which were actually worn by Jasmine in the film! Aladdin MAC Event So, let’s explore “a whole new world” of M•A•C makeup! Aladdin MAC Makeup Keynotes from the collection: The collection includes 4 rich shades of lipstick and 3 iridescent lip glosses which are really fun to mix and match! MAC Lipsticks Even the names of the pieces are cool, as they’re inspired by the film with names such as “Friend Like Me” (far left above) and “Princess Incognito” (far right above). MAC Lipgloss A Crystal Glaze Gloss, which is actually an ultra-moisturizing pearly clear gloss, will transform any lip colour with a glossy shine and hint of shimmer. MAC Aladdin Collection A Powder Blush, which we also think could be used as a bronzer or highlighter, comes in some simply gorgeous packaging. MAC Aladdin Collection It also comes in two different shades! Always One Jump Ahead is more of a shimmery gold color (above). Your Wish Is My Command (as you can see in the photo below) is more of a deep golden brown. MAC Aladdin Collection The Rose Pigment is perfect for your cheeks or lips. MAC Aladdin Collection The collection also includes an incredible Princess Jasmine eyeshadow palette. The range of colors in this palette offer great options for day and nighttime looks. You can also get a graphic black Technakohl eyeliner to go with your eyeshadow! Aladdin MAC Collection MAC Aladdin Collection We tried out the some of the makeup for ourselves and felt that the all-new, longer-lasting formulas are great, and the colors are lovely (and camera-ready, as we learned at the event). If you’re interested in wearing some when you go to see Aladdin, you can click here to shop the collection! What’s your favorite item in the Disney Aladdin Collection by M•A•C? Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in under a week (that’s wild to say!!), and one new technology in the land will fit right in the palm of your hand: your cell phone! That’s because your smartphone will transform into a datapad when you enter Black Spire Outpost. It’s all part of the Play Disney Parks app, and the latest update of the app — live NOW — allows users to interact with the Star Wars Datapad features for Galaxy’s Edge! Play Disney Parks App Upon opening the app, you’ll navigate to the Disneyland map where you’ll notice a few new images on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge portion of the map. (You can take a closer look around Galaxy’s Edge on the app by clicking here.) Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on Play Disney Parks app You’ll see a small blue star by the Millennium Falcon, and we’ll take a look at that shortly. But first we’re going to talk about what happens when you select the orange image above the Rivers of America. That leads you to this: Star Wars: Datapad At this time, not all features are active (indeed, some won’t be until users set foot on Batuu). But it’s highly advised that, if you are planning to utilize the app in the land, you check things out before you arrive. And you’ll want to because there is a lot you can familiarize yourself with before you enter Black Spire Outpost! As the introduction screen mentions, you can “Learn about the many functions of the Star Wars: Datapad — and explore your profile — before arriving at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!” And once you’re in, you’re presented with the option to “Learn More About My Datapad”! Yes, please! Star Wars: Datapad Three options on the bottom of the datapad screen — Tools, Jobs, and Map — are learn-only at the moment (and will be until entering the land, presumably), but you can scroll through to learn more about any of the features (and start daydreaming about how you’ll apply these features in the land!). Star Wars: Datapad Tools Jobs will provide users with a list of possible tasks from which to choose while you’re in Black Spire Outpost “for the residents of Black Spire Outpost.” Star Wars: Datapad Jobs And Map gives you information about where you can use some of the tools you’ll select (so you’re not wandering completely blind!). Star Wars: Datapad Map And there is something more you can do… you CAN actively explore options for your Profile! Star Wars: Datapad Profile Remember that Galaxy’s Edge will interact with users as they move about the land, so when you select your Equipment, make good choices! Equipment options include selecting your Outfit, Weapon, Cargo, and Parts & Scraps. Star Wars: Datapad Profile Other features you can check out under Profile include Schematics, Droid Data and Transmissions. These are expected to populate and activate as you interact with the land. We’re especially keen to find out more about those Transmissions! Star Wars: Datapad Profile Star Wars: Datapad Profile Star Wars: Datapad Profile The options are, in a word, EXTENSIVE, and we love how thorough the interactions appear to be. Plus, the personalization helps to make you a part of the action! Okay, now for that blue star we mentioned next to the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. If you select it… Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on Play Disney Parks app You’ll be able to read a bit about how to earn a special digital achievement by riding the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on Play Disney Parks There is a TON of stuff to go through on here… so you can play now to get ready to PLAY SOON in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! The Rivers of Light nighttime lights, lasers, and water show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom made its debut in 2017. Rivers of Light: We Are One And tonight brings a new chapter to this beautiful production, as Rivers of Light: We Are One begins! Rivers of Light: We Are One Rivers of Light: We Are One tells “the story of our connection with animals and the emotions and milestones we all share in our journey through the great circle of life.” The new version adds more imagery from Disneynature films and Disney animation to the show, like moments from The Lion King, Bambi, Pocahontas, and more. Rivers of Light: We Are One The original score of Rivers of Light is combined with well-known themes from Disney films throughout the 15 minute show. Rivers of Light Tiger The Tree of Life Awakenings have also received a new piece, as there is now a gorgeous vignette featuring the story of The Lion King. The Lion King Tree of Life Awakening Remember, the Tree “awakens” throughout the evening, so you’ll have several opportunities to catch a story or two. And the beautiful projections onto the tree really are stunning. The Lion King Tree of Life Awakening So be sure to check out these new chapters in both productions the next time you’re in Animal Kingdom after the sun goes down! Today has been one wild day filled with TONS of new Lion King treats in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Lion King Latte Art We’ve reviewed the Serengeti Sangria, the Bugs ‘n Grubs Waffle Cone, the Asante Slush, and Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip. Now, we’re going to check out something else that’s pretty epic… Did you know that Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company creates latte art? Well, they do. And today, they started offering a Lion King latte art add-on that looks like Simba. This is definitely a coffee that calls for tons of photos! Lion King Latte Art The latte art on the photo above is topping the Lion’s Latte, which just so happens to be another limited-time Lion King-inspired treat in Animal Kingdom. A blend of blend of espresso, white chocolate and coconut is served hot or iced. Back to the latte art… we asked if it was only available on certain beverages or hot drinks and the Cast Member told us that we could get this done on any drink… even iced ones! Now, we aren’t promising that this will always be the case since we have been told that you can only get latte art on hot or frozen drinks in the past! But, give it a shot. It worked for us! You can find this at Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea locations in Animal Kingdom (which includes spots like the Royal Anandapur Tea Company) for $5.69 before tax. And if you don’t happen to have a park ticket and are looking for some latte art options, be sure to head over to Disney Springs! The Joffrey’s location there just introduced a new Aladdin-themed latte art option in celebration of the live-action film’s release! ©Joffrey’s What do you think about this latte masterpiece? It was just a matter of time! With cast member previews happening over the past week, we’re already starting to see dozens of listings on Ebay for exclusive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge items…including an Oga’s Cantina menu and coasters that’s got a hopeful starting bid of $100 at the moment. Galaxy’s Edge Menu and Coasters Also available for those Star Wars fans who can’t wait another minute to get their hands on items that are coming straight outta Batuu are this Aurebesh-labeled water bottle priced at $25.00 (Coke products have a different look…and a purchase limit…at Galaxy’s Edge than they do on Earth)… Galaxy’s Edge Water Bottle on Ebay. …the highly anticipated R2-D2 Headband (pictured oh-so-urgently in the backseat of someone’s car) with a $75.00 Ebay price tag… Galaxy’s Edge r2-D2 headband …and the BB-8 Headband from Droid Depot that this seller hopes is worth $90.00 to someone. Bb-8 Headband at Galaxy’s Edge And this is just the beginning, my friends! It’s the next in a long line of Disney merchandise ebay sales on items that create pandemonium among Disney guests and fans. A prior example is the highly-sought-after Rose Gold ears in 2017. These had a purchase limit of 10 per transaction, so we saw sellers with armfuls of ears getting in line time and again to purchase the limit in order to re-sell them at significant profit. In those days, buyers were willing to get violent to get their hands on the ears; but Disney’s never been able to duplicate the urgency created that winter. We’ve also seen Disney cracking down on passholders whose MO of purchasing exclusive Disneyland merchandise and then reselling for profit on Ebay and elsewhere was a full-time job. Next week when Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland on May 31 you’ll be able to get that water bottle for a more reasonable $4-$5, I’m guessing. And those coasters won’t even be a commodity, much less a hot one. But for now — excitement is brewing for the opening of those Galaxy’s Edge doors, and some ebayers are hoping to pocket some serious cash in the meantime. Yo Ho, me hearties! Today we’ve got some new found treasure to show ya! Pirates of the Caribbean Auction Scene ©Disney Disney has released two new Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired merchandise options that AAAARRRRR perfect for your inner Pirate! Now, I’m not going to lie… I am one who misses the original Redd from Pirates a bit. But, with this new pirate captain Redd merchandise, I might be jumping onto the Pirate Redd ship! Redd’s Dress The new dress is inspired by Redd’s updated look! It features a stunningly stitched corset, ruffles, and striped details. The mannequin is shown wearing it off the shoulder which we think makes for a really fun look! And we’re finding ourselves to be particularly fond of the detailing on the bottom. Redd’s Dress And if you need a place to hold all of your new-found Disney park treasures, you can also grab yourself one of the new treasure chest crossbody bags. Treasure Chest Purse We found both the dress and the purse at Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom, but they can be found in The Dress Shop at Disney Springs as well. The dress retails for $128 and the purse costs $85. Is it A Pirate’s Life for You with this new look? Let us know in the comments below! Did somebody say “Sangria”?! Yep! Animal Kingdom just did with the release of the limited-time-only Serengeti Sangria. Lion King Serengeti Sangria This is just one of many new offerings that Disney has released in celebration of The Lion King! A few others include the Simba Ice Cream Sandwich and the Simba Sunset Dole Whip. But, let’s get down to the boozy business, folks. The Serengeti Sangria is a regular red sangria topped off with Van Der Hum South African Tangerine liqueur. And while it is both good and refreshing, it pretty much tastes like a regular sangria and nothing too out of the ordinary. Lion King Serengeti Sangria Still… nothin’ wrong with that! Just remember that Disney sangrias tend to err on the side of sweet, in case that’s not your preference. This drink can be found at Dawa Bar, Harambe Market, and Boneyard Bar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We ordered it for $10 before tax at Dawa Bar, even though the signage for the new offering had not been posted yet. Lion King Serengeti Sangria And remember, all of these limited time Lion King offerings will be available now through the end of summer! Check them all out here. Want some grubs? How about some BUGS? Well, if you said “YES” to both, you’re in the right place! Bugs ‘n Grubs Waffle Cone Because we’re bringing you the Bugs ‘n Grubs Waffle Cone, currently served at the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck and Trilo-Bites in Disney’s Animal Kingdom as part of a new batch of specialty snacks in honor of the characters of “The Lion King” available now through the end of summer! Bugs ‘n Grubs Waffle Cone sign This ice cream tribute to Timon and Pumba — made with their favorite… umm, “treat,” GRUBS!! — serves up chocolate soft-serve ice cream in a green cone with cookies and cream “dirt” crumbles, gummy worms, and a chocolate bug. Bugs ‘n Grubs Waffle Cone Does it “Taste like chicken?” No, so it’s not exactly like the grubs Timon and Pumbaa are after. It’s simply chocolate ice cream dressed up with some fun touches. Only, it’s those extra touches that make this snack cute, but not especially functional. You see, you have to act REALLY fast to eat this one. The gummy worm and bug on the top slid off of our cone literally within a few seconds. And we weren’t the only ones whose bug met this fate… Sad bug on the ground We saw more than just our candy bug on the streets of Anandapur. So, while it’s a pretty adorable treat and your kiddos may love the idea, consider yourself (and your candy bugs) warned that this is a tough one to manage on a hot day in Animal Kingdom. Like the other Lion King treats — including Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip, the Asante Slush, and the Simba Ice Cream Sandwich — this Cone is available through the end of summer. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Park is an icon loved by millions and recognized around the globe. And now, the castle has fully awakened after a months-long refurbishment! Sleeping Beauty Castle Just days ago, the tarps covering the castle’s turrets and spires we removed. This revealed a brighter, more vibrant color scheme of pinks, blues, and gold. (Learn more about the refreshed colors here!) Sleeping Beauty Castle And now construction walls that had closed off the castle have been removed, revealing the soft blues and grays of the stone — and more gold! Sleeping Beauty Castle Guests are now able, once again, to pass through the Castle as they move throughout the Park. Sleeping Beauty Castle Imagineering art director Kim Irvine says they used an “ages-old painting technique called atmospheric perspective to visually heighten the castle,” with richer pinks on the lower portions and slightly bluer-toned pinks moving upward. Sleeping Beauty Castle We gotta say, Sleeping Beauty Castle is truly living up to her name with this pixie-dusted look — just in time to welcome the masses when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens next week! Somehow we think she won’t be upstaged — not even by a starship! Sleeping Beauty Castle Indeed, Sleeping Beauty Castle looks better than ever, from ALL angles!
