Everyone’s #1 duck, Donald Duck, is celebrating 85 years this weekend. Known for his fiery temper, this character has been quacking up guests at Disneyland since 1955. However, Donald made his animated debut in the Silly Symphony, “The Wise Little Hen,” on June 9, 1934. Here are a few ways to commemorate Donald Duck at the Disneyland Resort—this weekend and beyond. “Mickey’s PhilharMagic”: The spectacular magic of Disney animation comes to life in the 3D movie musical “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” starring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other favorite Disney characters. As Donald prepares the orchestra for Mickey, he comes across the conductor’s baton and Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat. A little magic goes a long way and proceedings go awry as Donald is unexpectedly plunged into a high-definition 3D dream world and you’re taken along for the ride! Merchandise: Don your “Donald-best” with fun headwear and apparel. Favorites include the Donald Feet Headband, baseball cap, pins, whistle and more. If you can’t get enough of this sailor duck, be sure to take home a classic Donald Duck plush! Donald’s Boat: Step aboard the Miss Daisy, Donald’s colorful vessel docked in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park. You’ll see Donald’s favorite photos, his seaworthy rain gear and where he sleeps below deck. Don’t forget to ring the boat bell and pull the ship’s whistle! Donald Duck’s Seaside Breakfast: Head to Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel where Donald brings beachy fun to Disney’s PCH Grill for breakfast and brunch! Catch some waves on the dance floor with Donald, Daisy and Stitch as you chow down on an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast buffet. This Sunday, PCH Grill is celebrating Donald’s birthday with celebratory moments each hour! If you want to hang out with Donald and friends while chowing down on some delicious grub, click here to book your reservations or call (714) 781-DINE (714-781-3463). Specialty Eats: Treat yourself to Donald-inspired bites, including: Lemon Blueberry Bundt: Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake, filled with Lemon Curd and Blueberry Jam, finished with Blue Lemon Glaze and Whipped Cream. Available at Jolly Holiday Bakery in Disneyland park. LemonBlueberryMagic: Flaky Donut with Lemon-Blueberry filling, topped with Colored Icings, Whipped Cream and Chocolate Decorations. Available at Schmoozies in Disney California Adventure park. If you see Donald waddling around the Disneyland Resort, be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday! View the full article

The new live-action Aladdin film arrived in movie theaters at the end of May, and an endless assortment of Aladdin treats and merchandise have flown into the Disney parks along with it! Genie Loungefly Backpack From Aladdin-themed caramel apples to a massive amount of Aladdin merch, items celebrate both the new film and the classic animated version. And speaking of the classic… we have spotted a Genie Loungefly backpack in Magic Kingdom. And we didn’t even need a Magic Lamp to find it! We simply stopped by Uptown Jewelers on Main Street, U.S.A. Genie Loungefly Backpack He’s “in the mood to help you, dude!” Genie’s cheerful face makes up the entirety of the backpack, complete with a mustache, ears, and ponytail. Genie Loungefly Backpack Genie Loungefly Backpack It even has a zipper made with Genie’s magical lamp. I’m ready to make my three wishes; how about you? Genie Loungefly Backpack Loungefly backpacks tend to be really well made in addition to their seriously cute designs. (I mean who doesn’t want to rock a Buzz Lightyear backpack when visiting Toy Story Land?) They’re also large enough to store all of your park necessities while being small enough for carrying comfort on a busy day full of park-hopping. Again, we found this backpack at Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom, though we assume that he has hopped on the magic carpet to fly into other locations as well. The Genie Loungefly backpack can also be purchased on shopDisney.com. In both locations, it costs $80 before tax. Obsessing over this backpack? Let us know what you think in the comments below! During our last visit to Epcot, we noticed quite a few changes and updates! A tasty treat has changed locations (Spoiler Alert: it’s the Cronut), some remnants of the 2019 International Flower & Garden Festival are still happily around, and World Showcase experienced quite a few menu updates and additions! Spaceship Earth Let’s dive in! What’s New in Epcot’s Future World: Construction on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster continues to progress. I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready for this new thrill ride to debut in Epcot! Guardians of the Galaxy Construction The roller coaster is scheduled to open in 2021 as part of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. Guardians of the Galaxy Construction Construction is still underway on Epcot’s space-themed restaurant. Run by the Patina Restaurant Group (who owns several restaurants in Epcot and Disney Springs), the new dining location is slated to open later this year. Space Restaurant Construction Since Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival ended on June 3, the garden display at the main entrance is no longer there. Spaceship Earth When we were there, the Leave a Legacy pillars on the right side of Spaceship Earth were gone as well. According to an Epcot Cast Member, all the pillars have been removed at the time of this writing. Epcot Main Entrance Moving right along to Electric Umbrella, we were thrilled to notice the return of the BB-8 Stein! In our previous What’s New at Epcot, we reported the absence of the stein. We are thrilled the souvenir sipper has made its return to Epcot! Electric Umbrella Menu Also at Electric Umbrella, the Croissant Doughnut from Taste Track has made its way onto the menu, since Taste Track is currently closed. Electric Umbrella Menu Read more about Epcot’s Cronut here! Continuing to explore Future World, we noticed the Toy Story topiaries and the playground from the Flower & Garden Festival are still there. We can’t say for certain how long they’ll remain, but we’d imagine the installations are removed gradually. Toy Story Topiaries Flower & Garden Festival Playground If the topiaries are still there during your Epcot visit, be sure to snap some photos with Buzz Lightyear and his Toy Story pals! Buzz Lightyear Topiary Rounding out the news in Future World, construction walls are up around the Butterfly House from the Flower & Garden Festival, likely to remove the structure. Butterfly House Construction Walls What’s New in Epcot’s World Showcase: Kicking off our World Showcase adventure in the Mexico Pavilion, construction walls are still up near La Cantina de San Angel. Mexico Pavilion Construction Inside La Cava del Tequila, we noticed a recent addition to the flight menu – a Mezcal Real Minero Flight. La Cava del Tequila Flights Menu If you want to add some fun and flavor to your Epcot day, do yourself a favor and head over to La Cava. It’s one of our favorite places to relax and take a load off! In the Germany Pavilion, Paulaner Hefe Weizen was available at the Bier Cart. Paulaner Hefe-Weizen Sign We’re not sure how long this beer option will stick around, but it seems to be a special offer. It is not currently listed on the regular sign. Also in Germany, a Cheese Plate was available in the wine cellar. This is not a new offering, but since it tends to come and go, we wanted to note for you that it was available to purchase while we were there. Cheese Plate in Germany Pavilion To wrap up our time in Germany, we want to give a shout-out of thanks to the Cast Member handing out water! Cast Members are the best, aren’t they? Germany Pavilion Cast Member Continuing our international tour in Italy, a Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry Popsicle was added to the lineup at the Via Napoli Donkey Stand. This new version replaced a plain strawberry popsicle at the cart. You can grab one for $8.00 – unfortunately, it is not Disney Dining Plan snack-credit eligible. Italy Pavilion Popsicle Menu At the American Adventure Pavilion, the Flower & Garden Festival special beer was still available at Fife & Drum. We were told it will be available until they run out. Fife & Drum Festival Beer Construction is currently taking place in the American Adventure Pavilion, as the large fountain has been roped off for repaving work. American Adventure Wrapping up our time in the American Adventure, the area where the Flower & Garden Festival Smokehouse booth stood now has construction walls. We haven’t received word why the walls are there, but we’ll keep you updated on this development. American Adventure Construction In the Japan Pavilion, construction for Takumi-Tei is underway. The new signature dining restaurant is expected to open this summer. Takumi-Tei Restaurant Construction There are a variety of menu changes to Japan Pavilion restaurants. First up, Katsura Grill has removed Spicy Seafood Miso Ramen and Green Tea Swirl Cake from its offerings. Katsura Grill Menu Katsura Grill Menu According to a Cast Member, Toyko Dining made several menu additions a few weeks ago. Wasabi Shrimp is now available for $28.00 and Grilled Yuzu Salmon is on the menu for $30.00. Tokyo Dining Menu They’ve also added a variety of specialty rolls – Yuzu Ginger Beef Roll, Citrus Shrimp Roll, Sunshine Salmon Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Prices for these sushi dishes vary from $15.00 to $16.00. Tokyo Dining Menu Rounding out the changes to the Tokyo Dining menu, Nagasaki Sara Udon is on the menu for $26.00 and Seafood Yuzu Shio Ramen has been upgraded from an appetizer to entree for $25.00. Tokyo Dining Menu Goodness, there are SO many changes to Tokyo Dining’s menu! There aren’t too many changes to report in the Morocco Pavilion, but there are construction walls between Morocco and France where the festival kiosks used to be. Maybe they’re removing the kiosks, but we’ll let you know when we find out more! Construction Between Morocco and France Construction continues to take place in the France Pavilion. France Pavilion Construction Is it just me or does construction seem to be a theme in Epcot? I just can’t wait for the new crêperie and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure to open in 2021! Making our way to the International Gateway, we saw more construction as the Disney Skyliner testing continues. International Gateway Construction Over in the United Kingdom Pavilion, Mushroom and Chicken Pie is no longer on the menu at Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Thank goodness we still have our fish and chips, right? Yorkshire County Fish Shop Menu Continuing our journey in the Canada Pavilion, we noticed a few menu changes. Starting things off at Le Cellier, the new monthly Poutine featuring corned beef and beer cheese sauce hails from the United Kingdom, replacing Norway’s version. Le Cellier Poutine Menu The popcorn cart is now closed, but popcorn and several other items are available at the Northern Bloom kiosk, which has notably remained even beyond the ending of the Flower & Garden Festival. Canada Pavilion Popcorn Cart Northern Bloom – Canada Pavilion Among the offerings at Northern Bloom are ketchup chips (seasoned potato chips) and a 12-ounce pour of La Fin du Monde. This particular pour has been off the menu for a few years but we’re pretty sure many Disney World guests will be happy to see it back! Northern Bloom – Canada Pavilion At Refreshment Port the Coffee Rub Poutine, which was a Festival specialty, is no longer on the menu. Refreshment Port The entire walkway past Refreshment Port into Future World is currently blocked off. It looks like they are removing the festival playground and possibly the kiosks. Keep that in mind if you’re visiting Epcot soon! Walkway Construction What’s New in Epcot’s Shops and Stores — New Merchandise! There aren’t too many pieces of new merchandise to report, but we loved the items we found! In the Mexico Pavilion, we spotted Mickey Mariachi Shirts. These may not be new to the Pavilion, but it was our first time seeing them. Mickey Mariachi Shirt Mickey Mariachi Shirt Next up, we found new Little Mermaid Wishables at MouseGear! Little Mermaid Wishables These come in a variety of characters, but we’re particularly fond of Flounder! He’ll always be more than a guppie to us. Flounder Wishable Also at MouseGear, we found a totally awesome Haunted Mansion wristlet. Haunted Mansion Wristlet It has one of those super cool “hologram” pictures that change when you move it. Such a great way to commemorate such an iconic Disney attraction! Haunted Mansion Wristlet WOW! We covered a lot in our walk around Epcot! Thanks for joining me on our tour around the park. Hades, with Meg at his side, sits on his dark throne “awaiting the alignment of five planets, following a prophecy that states when the five come together he will be able to rule the universe.” Villains Unite the Night As happens often with Disney Villains, things don’t exactly go according to plan when a few other Villians interrupt the party. Dr. Facilier, The Queen, Jafar, and Maleficent have also heard the prophecy and they, too, believe they should rule. Villains Unite the Night And how will they argue their cases? Villains Unite the Night By showing their powers with “spine-tingling displays of skill!” Villains Unite the Night Be sure to check your Event Guide for times to see this new show! (On our visit, the show was performed at 11:00 PM, 12:00 AM, and 1:00 AM, and the show was longer than 20 minutes.) Maleficent the Dragon Maleficent the Dragon draws the attention of every guest in the Magic Kingdom during the daytime parade, Festival of Fantasy. But at Villains After Hours… Maleficent at Night! … guests can see Maleficent in all of her fire-breathing majesty by night for the first time! More additions to the dastardly scene include a DJ spinning tunes at the castle stage turning the Central Plaza into a “killer club scene.” Cinderella Castle Villains After Hours Treats Before we dig into tonight’s treats, we want to remind you that all Disney After Hours events — no matter the park — include complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select bottled beverages in the cost of admission. Complimentary Treats Complimentary MICKEY ICE CREAM BARS! But for Villains After Hours, event-exclusive themed treats are available throughout the park for extra purchase. Main Street, U.S.A. Treats Casey’s Corner is serving De Vil’s Treat! de Vil’s Treat It’s a classic brownie topped with oodles of black and white icing reminiscent of Cruella’s signature hair. “To see her is to take a sudden chill!” de Vil’s Treat And Main Street Bakery is once again serving the jumbo Not-So-Poison Apple Cupcake, which made its delicious debut at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The Not-So-Poison Apple Cupcake Liberty Square Treats “He’ll flip your top if it’ll fit…” It’s the Headless Horseman Browkie, and you’ll find it at the Liberty Square Popcorn Cart! Liberty Square Popcorn Cart menu Is it a cookie? Is it a brownie? It’s BOTH! And it’s topped with a Headless Horseman white chocolate piece. Headless Horseman Browkie THIS is the best treat we ate. It’s a nice and gooey brownie combined with a soft chocolate chip cookie. Headless Horseman Browkie It’s really rich and big, so it’s certainly shareable… but that wouldn’t be honoring your inner Villain now, would it? Pick up your Headless Horseman Straw Clip here, too! Headless Horseman Straw Clip Sleepy Hollow is serving Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart and A Drink from the Other Side. Sleepy Hollow Treats Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart is a chocolate tart filled with dark chocolate ganache and topped with peanut butter mousse and a white chocolate tarot card. Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart It’s that deliciously famous, sweet, and creamy peanut butter mousse that makes this treat memorable! Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart A Drink from the Other Side is a non-alcoholic Hurricane-style drink inspired by the signature New Orleans beverage. A Drink from the Other Side It’s reminiscent of POG Juice (passion fruit, orange, and guava), but with the addition of grenadine. Tomorrowland Treats Cool Ship’s tally is two treacherous treats! Cool Ship Treats This is where you’ll encounter the bubbling brew of Yzma’s Llama Potion, which is Strawberry Fanta served in a dry-ice infused cup. Yzma’s Llama Potion It’s suuuuper sweet, but it’s fun! Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles is a chilled noodle salad with snap peas, red onion, and red peppers finished with a sesame soy sauce. Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles Now, we were warned that this dish was spicy, but we didn’t find it so. Maaaybe it had just the tiniest kick. But overall, it’s still tasty — heavy on the garlic, with more than a hint of the sesame. The pickled slaw lends it acidity, but it’s a pretty good option overall. Fantasyland Treats The Dragon’s Breath Float is fired up at Storybook Treats. It’s lemon soft-serve, cherry syrup, and sprite topped with dragon’s eyes (green cherries). Storybook Treat items The cherry syrup is uber sweet, so make sure you get a good bite of the lemon soft-serve to balance it out! The green cherries are… not the best thing we’ve ever eaten . Dragon’s Breath Float This float is really fun, though, and fans of lemon Dole Whip may enjoy this wicked twist. The Maleficent Cone also makes her triumphant return here! Maleficent Waffle Cone It’s lime Dole Whip topped with chocolate horns and purple sprinkles served in a black waffle cone. Adventureland Treats Head to Tortuga Tavern for the Hades Temptation Mocktail! Hades Temptation Mocktail This non-alcoholic purple “Cosmo” is made with lemonade and pear syrup, and topped with a gummy worm. This frozen sip is really enjoyable. Not too sweet, and very refreshing! Tortuga Tavern Menu items This is also where you can order up Hades Nachos. Hades Nachos These black bean nacho chips with “fiery” buffalo chicken and nacho cheese are also making their return from the 2018 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Villains After Hours Attractions Disney After Hours events are known for low wait times at popular attractions throughout the park due to low capacity for these events. While more than 20 attractions throughout Magic Kingdom are open for guests to enjoy, two offer special enhancements for Villains After Hours. Pirates of the Caribbean during Disney Villains After Hours Don’t miss the Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain overlays during Villains After Hours! Villains After Hours Merchandise Exclusive event merchandise is available for Villains After Hours. Disney Villains After Hours merchandise Disney Villains After Hours merchandise Disney Villains After Hours merchandise Your Event Guide will provide the full list of locations, but check spots like the Emporium, Memento Mori, Mickey’s Star Traders and more “while supplies last.” Disney Villains After Hours merchandise Disney Villains After Hours merchandise Check out the full line of exclusive merchandise for Disney Villains After Hours here! Villains Appearances It’s good to know in advance that this After Hours event does NOT include character meet and greets with Disney Villains. You’ll see them in the Villains Unite the Night stage show. Villains Unite the Night And if you purchase PhotoPass pictures you will see Villains show up in certain Magic Shots. (We did noticed the lines were quite long for the Magic Shots.) But, make no mistake. The Villains make their presence known… Disney Villains After Hours Disney Villains After Hours Disney Villains After Hours Disney Villains After Hours Villains After Hours Dates and Tickets Villains After Hours takes place from 10:00 PM – 1:00 AM on the following dates: Thursday, June 13, 2019 Thursday, June 20, 2019 Thursday, June 27, 2019 Monday, July 1, 2019 Thursday, July 11, 2019 Thursday, July 18, 2019 Thursday, July 25, 2019 Thursday, August 1, 2019 Thursday, August 8, 2019 Note that even though the official After Hours festivities don’t begin until 10:00 PM, guests with tickets for the event may enter the park as early as 7:00 PM. Interested guests may learn more and purchase tickets by visiting the Walt Disney World website or by calling the Disney Reservation Center at (407) 939-2742. Disney Villains After Hours tickets cost $139 plus tax in advance and $144 plus tax on the event night. Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Members are eligible for a $30 discount and may purchase tickets for $109. After Hours Final Thoughts We have attended After Hours events at each park where they are offered (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios). The low-capacity for these extra-ticket events really does lend a memorable feel to the evening, along with the opportunity to experience so much of what the park has to offer thanks to lower crowd levels. We have enjoyed every one we’ve attended and find that they do tend to deliver. However, because of the price point it’s best to consider all aspects of the event in regards to your specific group, which we discuss in full in our DFB YouTube Video. Regarding the Villains After Hours specifically, the overlay for the evening does add an extra element of fun, especially for Villains fans. We do think it would be a great addition to add some meet and greet opportunities with Disney Villains as part of the goings on, increasing the value of the event by offering the chance to meet a few rarely seen characters. But overall, After Hours events in general, while a splurge, are certainly memorable events from what we’ve experienced. After all, when’s the last time you saw Main Street, U.S.A… After Hours in Magic Kingdom … quite like this? We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. We were invited by Disney to experience this new event as media; however, we also purchased our own ticket for an additional reporter to attend so we could give an unbiased review. Disney provided a $15 gift card to purchase food items, and we paid for the remainder of our food purchases. Reservations opened on May 15th for Special Events at the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, and with dozens of demonstrations, seminars, pairings, and more to experience, it can be difficult to know which event (or events) to choose to book. Epcot Food and Wine Festival But lucky for you, we’ve been there, done that, so we can give you some guidance and help you book the most worthwhile events. Here are five underrated Food & Wine Festival events you might want to try this year! Culinary Demonstrations and Beverage Seminars Culinary Demonstrations and Beverage Seminars are some of the Festival’s low-cost options at $19 each, but that low cost is a little misleading. These events are informative and fun, lead by industry experts, and allow guests to sample the highlighted food or drink! Culinary Demonstrations at Food & Wine And because there are lots of dates and times, it can be easier to get into the Culinary Demos and Beverage Seminars than some of the bigger headline events! Check out the schedule with presenters and topics for Culinary Demonstrations here and for Beverage Seminars here! Parisian Breakfast If you’re looking for the best value for your Special Events dollar, look no further than the Parisian Breakfast, mais oui! For $45, guests enjoy French specialties at Les Chefs de France. Sip on your welcome mimosa, then munch on a selection of French pastries and baked goods (including baguettes baked fresh!). And what’s breakfast in France without cheese? French varieties are offered along with unlimited coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and orange juice. Parisian Breakfast If it sounds like a divine way to start your day, you’re absolutely correct. These are pastries and cheeses of incredibly high quality, and the whole affair has an authentic feel (right down to the chance to dip your baguette in hot chocolate!). Mexican Tequila Lunch The Mexican Tequila Lunch might sound like an excuse to drink a lot of liquor in the middle of the day, but actually the pairing of specialty tequilas with regional Mexican cuisine is a thoughtful, delicious experience! When we participated, foods included grilled scallops, New York strip steak, and pork tacos, so this is serious business. You’ll also taste three or more tequilas and receive education about how they differ and how to pair them. Tequilas to Sample at Mexican Tequila Lunch Sunday Brunch with the Chef Okay, now, here’s your chance to really get some face time with your favorite celebrity chefs! Sunday Brunch with the Chef debuted in 2018, and it’s back in 2019 with a list of fun, well-known chefs, a buffet of breakfast bites, and a two-hour session that includes a Q&A. Been dying to know what Richard Blais’ favorite molecular gastronomic technique is? Gotta know what Andrew Zimmern really thinks about durian fruit? Here’s your chance to ask! See Carla Hall at Sunday Brunch with the Chef on September 8th Mediterranean Food and Beverage Pairing This four-course tasting at Spice Road Table includes a sparkling wine reception, gourmet cuisine, and education about pairing Mediterranean foods with beverages. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this event. The food and wine were wonderful, and the setting is lovely as well. If you like the flavors of this region, this event is a great addition to your Food & Wine experience. Coriander Crusted Lamb with Basmati Rice, Roasted Tomatoes, and Zucchini There’s no shortage of things to do at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and these five events — while they vary widely in cost and content — offer nothing short of awesome experiences.
