  1. Another snack tribute to Forky — the newest member of the Toy Story gang who will make his debut in Toy Story 4 soon — has arrived in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Forky’s Hazelnut Eclair Joining the Forky Cupcake (currently found at Disney’s All Star Movies Resort) is the new Forky’s Hazelnut Éclair at Backlot Express. Forky’s Hazelnut Éclair on sign A white chocolate piece sports Forky declaring “I’m Homemade!” Forky’s Hazelnut Eclair And while the sign for this treat simply mentions a hazelnut éclair, there is an additional flavor with the thick layer of orange citrus icing garnished with chopped hazelnuts underneath the topper. Forky’s Hazelnut Eclair More hazelnut lies in the layer of chocolate hazelnut spread underneath the icing, and together the flavors are reminiscent of an orange creamsicle! (By the way, is it wrong to split a Forky treat with a fork? The mind does ponder…) Forky’s Hazelnut Eclair It’s a tasty treat, but not one for those who don’t care for the fruit-and-chocolate combo, obviously, so just note the addition of orange and place (or change) your order according to your preference. Forky’s Hazelnut Eclair is just one of several ways to celebrate Toy Story 4 in Hollywood Studios right now. Toy Story 4 Preview From Bo Peep’s arrival in the park to previews of the film at Walt Disney Presents, there is no shortage of all the Toy Story fun happening in Hollywood Studios! In fact, this isn’t the end of Toy Story treats today… so stay tuned! Would you like to try Forky’s Hazelnut Eclair? Please let us know with a comment! 4. Guests in Disney’s Hollywood Studios have been treated to a new Meet and Greet with Bo Peep! Bo Peep in Hollywood Studios Bo Peep can currently be spotted by Woody’s side greeting guests in Toy Story Land. Bo Peep in Hollywood Studios Disney announced several weeks ago that Bo Peep would be arriving this summer in Disney parks to celebrate the upcoming Toy Story 4 (which will hit movie theaters on June 21st), though no official date was announced for Bo Peep’s arrival. Bo Peep in Hollywood Studios Note that, in looking at today’s Times Guide for Hollywood Studios, the Character Meet and Greets list only reveals “Toy Story Friends,” as opposed to specific characters. So we are not certain if Bo’s current status is intermittent or more regular. 6. Today, we’re looking ahead to the holidays and unwrapping some of the many magical experiences coming to Walt Disney World Resort in 2019. And there are exciting updates to share at all four of our theme parks and Disney Springs! Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Holiday Festivities in Every Land For First Time For the first time in its two-decade history, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will introduce festive new entertainment and holiday décor in every land. Beginning November 8, 2019, when you cross the bridge to Discovery Island, you’ll find yourself in the midst of a celebration of winter. By day, stylized, life-sized animal puppets mingle with villagers who make the island their home. As day becomes night, rooftop luminaries in animal shapes and bird lanterns throughout Discovery Island will bring a warm glow to the village. Also, as the sun sets, the Tree of Life will awaken with a series of wintry tales emerging from within, backed by a heartwarming holiday musical score. Between awakening moments, the Tree of Life will shimmer and sparkle throughout the night, alive with the magic of nature and the spirit of the holidays. There are more details on upcoming holiday experiences in the park’s other lands in our original Holidays at Disney’s Animal Kingdom story. Magic Kingdom Park – New Fireworks Show, Holiday Experiences As we shared earlier, the skies above Magic Kingdom Park will sparkle to life like never before during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party with the debut of an all-new fireworks show that can be enjoyed across the park! The new fireworks show, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, will celebrate the magic of Christmas with medleys of beloved holiday songs, from “Joy to the World” and “Deck the Halls” to “Up on the House Top” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” You’ll be able to see the fireworks show during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select nights November 8 – December 22, 2019. Along with our new show, each of this year’s 23 nights of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will feature performances of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas and Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration stage show. And during A Frozen Holiday Wish stage show, Queen Elsa will magically transform Cinderella Castle with glistening ice. Visit our Magic Kingdom Fireworks Show story for more details and holiday experiences. Epcot – Candlelight Processional, Holiday Kitchens & More The 2019 line-up of celebrity narrators confirmed to-date for the popular Candlelight Processional just launched on the Blog for the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. This special event runs November 29-December 30, where you’re invited to discover holiday cheer throughout Epcot and across all 11 World Showcase pavilions. For information about the Festival or to book a Candlelight Processional Dining Package starting July 3, visit Epcotholidays.com or call 407-WDW-DINE. Also at Epcot, from Nov. 29, 2019, through Dec. 30, 2019, guests will be immersed in a vast world of holiday decorations and entertainment, themed merchandise, festive cuisine and costumed storytellers from the 11 World Showcase nations. Special Holiday Kitchens sprinkled throughout World Showcase will serve up tasty treats inspired by treasured holiday recipes from across the globe. And pavilions will come alive with the sights and sounds of special entertainment celebrating each country’s holiday heritage with Santa and Mrs. Claus greeting guests at The American Adventure pavilion. Guests can also participate in Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree Scavenger Hunt to scout World Showcase locations looking for the famous chipmunks and their ornaments. Completed maps are returned for a special festive surprise, courtesy of the chipmunk duo. And this year, with its premiere scheduled for Oct. 1, 2019, holiday guests will be among the first to view “Epcot Forever,” a new nighttime spectacular bursting above World Showcase Lagoon. Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Sunset Greetings, Special Holiday Entertainment Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also rolling out special holiday shows, enchanting “snowfalls,” décor and more this season. And this year, you’ll be able to live your Star Wars story at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge where you may just find the perfect holiday gift from a galaxy far, far away. You won’t want to miss the Sunset Seasons Greetings show at the park, featuring projections on the Hollywood Tower Hotel, amazing laser effects and “snow,” along with stories, songs and cheer courtesy of favorite Disney friends. The nighttime spectacular “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” will treat holiday-goers to festive music, fireworks, special effects and state-of-the-art projections to a one-of-a-kind holiday experience at the iconic Chinese Theatre. And as a curtain-closer, Olaf will be delivering a special holiday finale in For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along along with other experiences. Disney Springs – New Holiday Shopping, Dining and More Guests who make a holiday list, can check it twice as they breeze among dozens of trendy brand-name stores and a large and varied collection of Disney merchandise at Disney Springs. There are amazing dining spots to explore and this year’s live entertainment will include toy soldier stilt walkers, carolers and Living Statues in holiday attire. Holiday decorations set the colorful stage for Disney Springs festivities, which run Nov. 8, 2019, to Jan. 5, 2020. If you’re visiting the popular Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs this season, you will be treated to custom-decorated holiday trees, each dedicated to a popular Disney theme featuring characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and others. At Santa’s Chalet, a jolly Santa Claus welcomes guests. From Dec. 25 to 31, Santa Goofy takes over after Ol’ Saint Nick returns to the North Pole. And you’re invited to also join in Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt and discover where the mischievous Experiment 626 is hiding. Today’s update is just an early taste of the holiday magic coming to all four theme parks and Disney Springs this year. Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for updates on future park experiences. 7. Last week, the Disney Parks Blog team celebrated the official return of summer in a big way – by hosting the largest meetup we’ve ever held at Walt Disney World Resort during Disney H2O Glow Nights at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon! In case you aren’t familiar, Disney H2O Glow Nights are special ticketed “ultimate glow parties” that take place on select nights at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park. The parties transform the park into a celebration of all-things “Toy Story,” with a DJ-hosted dance party on the beach, character greetings, party exclusive food & beverage, and more. Party guests can also enjoy shorter wait times at all Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon attractions. We couldn’t think of a better way to mark the return of our favorite season than by meeting up thousands of Disney Parks Blog readers at the park to celebrate the return of the season of sun and fun. In addition to enjoying the normal Disney H2O Glow Night experience, our crowd was treated to a Q&A interview Director & Animator Mark Walsh who directed the “Toy Story” toon “Partysaurus Rex,” participated in our largest group selfie on the beach, and much more. Check out the video above for a look inside the celebration. Want to enjoy your own Disney H2O Glow Nights fun? Parties will take place Thursday and Saturdays throughout summer, now through August 24 (one exception: there will be no event on June 20). Parties run from 8-11 p.m. Grab tickets here! 13. Look who’s here! It’s Bo Peep… in cupcake form! Bo Peep Cupcake “Here,” by the way, is Disney World’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside where the Bo Peep Cupcake has just made its debut in the bakery case at Riverside Mill Food Court. Riverside Mill Food Court Cupcakes The white chocolate bow topping the cupcake is reminiscent of treats you’ll see (especially cupcakes) all over Disney World in tribute to Minnie Mouse. But the light blue coconut buttercream icing and the pink-hued chocolate is all Bo . Bo Peep Cupcake Notice there is also plenty of edible glitter topping the whole sparkly thing! Bo Peep Cupcake Underneath the toppings is a vanilla cake base filled with what we were told is a coconut cream cheese buttercream filling. But, as it turned out, the coconut buttercream icing on top carried the only hint of coconut flavoring — no coconut shavings or anything, so the coconut flavor was barely discernible. Bo Peep Cupcake The filling did have something of a sweet cream cheese flavor with a buttercream consistency (but not, like, a full -on cheesecake filling). But there wasn’t a whole lot of punch to the variance of flavors, which is too bad because it sure sounded promising! Maybe the flavors will be more amped up in future batches. That said, it was still a good tasting cupcake with a mostly vanilla flavor profile, and this colorful cupcake is bound to be a hit with the little ones. Toy Story 4 sign The Bo Peep Cupcake is in celebration of the character’s return in the upcoming Toy Story 4 which will hit theaters on June 20, 2019. Bo Peep will also begin appearing in Disney parks to greet guests this summer, and you can learn more about her appearances here! Would you like to try the Bo Peep Cupcake? 16. It’s time to bid “Bright suns!” (that’s HELLO!) to the day with breakfast at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo! Docking Bay is the brand new land’s largest quick service dining location. They’ll be serving up intergalactic eats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we’re enjoying bites on opening day! Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo The menu for breakfast at Docking Bay is small, featuring just three entrees plus one kids’ breakfast item. Unsurprisingly, these items all have an interesting twist that makes them unique to Batuu. Breakfast Menu Also available at breakfast: the restaurant’s Specialty Beverages. These include Moof Juice, Phattro, and Batuubucha Tea. We’ll have a review of these drinks coming soon (as well as lunch and dinner items!). Breakfast Specialty Beverages First up for breakfast: Rising Moons Overnight Oats. This fruity oatmeal dish is also available for breakfast at Ronto Roasters and Oga’s Cantina. “Rising moons” is a greeting that basically means “good afternoon”, so we expect Rising Moons Overnight Oats to keep you fueled up and energized through a busy morning in Black Spire Outpost! Rising Moon Overnight Oats The fruit topping will be seasonal, but it’s expected always to contain some “otherworldly” dragon fruit. Other fruits on our visit included kiwi, mango, blueberries, and blackberries. What a comfort that they can grow some familiar fruits on Batuu, eh? Rising Moons Overnight Oats The oats themselves are great for those who enjoy the texture and taste of long-cooked oats. We’re not sure these are actually overnight oats (like when you cook oats in a CrockPot), but they’re really good! The pink color comes from the addition of dragon fruit juice (there are sporadic black seeds in there, too), and the fruity, slightly sweet flavor is a nice, fairly light way to start the day. Rising Moons Overnight Oats But if you want to fuel up your internal star ship with something more substantial, you might want to order the Bright Suns Morning. This is a hearty and filling plate of food — definitely enough to share if you’re so inclined. Bright Suns Morning The visual star of the dish is the bright yellow round of egg, which to our eye appears to contain some shredded cheese. (We didn’t taste it so much, but you’ll want to check with the cast members upon ordering if you have cheese issues!) Bright Suns Morning Indeed the egg is… sun-like: bright, yellow, and energizing. Bright Suns Morning But if you have a texture issue, be forewarned: these are baked scrambled eggs. They’re fairly fluffy and soft, but they do have a skin on them from the cooking process. Still: it’s an egg! Good protein and a familiar breakfast staple! Bright Suns Morning The purple potato hash accompaniment on the Bright Suns Morning isn’t much to look at, but it was delicious to eat! Accompanying the purple potatoes (which taste like potatoes…) are red peppers, pearl onions, and mushrooms (we’re thinking oyster based on the appearance!). There’s nothing tricky in the seasoning (just some salt and pepper), but the hearty combination of vegetables was satisfying and filling. Purple Potato Hash The sausage on Bright Suns Morning is the same as is served over at Ronto Roasters (so, you know, pitmaster droid-cooked meat heated by podracer engine…), and it’s a flavorful, savory addition to the plate. This is a long, narrow sausage cut in half, so if you’re sharing, you don’t have to fight over it. (On the other hand, you might want both pieces, so bring your lightsaber, just in case). Sausage The final piece of the Bright Suns Morning breakfast is a mini Mustafarian Lava Roll. We got a full-size version for research purposes. Mustafarian Lava Roll This is a tremendously sweet breakfast item that, well, is like eating dessert for breakfast. It’s essentially puff pastry spiraled into a roll, baked with chocolate mousse inside and topped with chocolate cookie crumbles and red berry glaze. The white crumbles are a bit of a mystery. They’re sweet (like the center of an Oreo) but a bit more crumbly. Perhaps pulverized sugar cookie? Whatever they are, the color is a welcome contrast, and a little more sugar isn’t going to tip the balance on this one! Mustafarian Lava Roll Inside the puff pastry is a swirl of what we’re calling chocolate mousse based on the smooth texture, but it’s a very thin layer likely spread on the puff pastry before it was rolled up. Mustafarian Lava Roll This definitely adds some sweet richness to the roll Mustafarian Lava Roll If you’re washing down your breakfast at Docking Bay with a fountain beverage or a cup of water, you won’t find Disney Parks-branded paper cups in Docking Bay (or straws and lids, for that matter). Fountain Drink Cup Design Instead you’ll find these Galaxy’s Edge-exclusive paper cups, the design of which is stark and graphic like the land itself. Fountain Drink Cup Design Woo! We’re ready for a jaunt through the Market for some shopping. Or a flight on that hunk of junk, the Millennium Falcon! Or maybe a little droid-building. Wherever we go next, “may the Spires keep you.” (That means we wish you well!) 17. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge offers many opportunities for visitors to personalize their journeys on Batuu. From the Play Disney Parks app that allows guests to interact with the land to carrying the burden (or glory!) of your Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run results everywhere you go, Black Spire Outpost has tons to offer. One such exciting opportunity is found at Droid Depot where you can Build Your Own Droid! Droid Depot We’ve got the step-by-step details on how YOU can make a Droid just for you. Roger, roger! Droid Depot’s build area (which is separate from its shop (where you can buy lots of droid-related merch!) is a collection of droid parts everywhere you look — even in the ceiling! You’ll also notice other industrial details, like exposed ceilings and pipes, dangling wires, and the such. (This is the aesthetic all over Batuu, where things seem to be pieced together by necessity rather than by design.) Droid Depot Droid Parts Build-Your-Own-Droid examples are arranged along the walls, too, should you need a bit of inspiration. Build Your Own Droid Options on Display Before you begin selecting parts, though, you’ll need to purchase your Astromech Droid. The cost to Build Your Own Droid is $99.99 +tax, and it comes with a carry case and remote. (You’ll see these in a bit!) Purchase a Build Your Own Astromech Droid You can make either a BB-Series Droid or an R-Series Droid. When you pay for your droid, you’ll select one or the other and be given a basket with a handy diagram of all the parts you’ll need to collect. B-Series Droid Basket We went with an R-Series Droid. These droids require a body, a dome, two side legs, and one center leg. R-Series Droid Basket When you’ve got your basket, head to the conveyor belt, which is loaded with a collection of droid parts. You can literally choose anything that goes by, assuming it’s necessary for your droid. You will see many of the same parts repeated, so if you miss that perfect BB-Series body, keep watch until it comes by again. Select your droid parts — B-Series or R-Series We posted up with our basket in front of another diagram for the R-Series Droid. These visual instructions are super easy to follow, and in no time, we had collected all the parts we needed. Select your Droid parts You can see clearly here just how many options — colors, shapes, sizes, details — there are. Use your basket to help wrangle all the parts Once you’ve got your droid parts, head to one of the Builder Stations. There are 7 stations in the Builder area, so there are restrictions about how many people can build at a time. (Seven Builders are allowed in the build area, plus one additional person per Builder. At least one of the duo must be at least 14 years old.) Build Stations The Builder Stations have placement instructions that walk you through the assembly of your droid. But if you get stuck, flag down a cast member. Placemat instructions at your station When you’re done, you’ll have your very own droid sidekick. And we have to confess: we thought this was going to be a throwaway experience — just another money-maker for Disney — but when w finally took the plunge, we were smitten immediately. These droids really come to life — and we haven’t even activated it yet! Assemble your Droid! A cast member will help you activate and pair your droid. You’ll put it in this machine, which progresses through steps for Initializing, Assigning, Formatting, Preparing, and Priming your droid. This is really fun — and if it’s fun for me, a skeptical adult, it will be EPIC for your kids. Your little droid activates and talks to you for the first time! At the end of the process, you’ll be given a remote that will operate your droid and a carry case so you can bring it everywhere you go. Activate and Pair your Droid Here’s a glimpse of the carry case so you can plan on how to get it home with you. You can see the remote is very user-friendly, with large buttons that clearly indicate what you can do with your droid. Carry Case and Remote Note that the Astromech Droids that guests build use bluetooth technology to interact with one another in Galaxy’s Edge, and with “objects on Batuu and at Disney Parks and Resorts.” In our experience, we saw droids interacting with each other, reacting to some of the animals in the creature stall in the marketplace, and reacting when entering certain areas of Black Spire Outpost. Bluetooth technology And if you feel so inclined, Droid Depot also offers some accessories for your brand new droid friend! Buy a Personality Chip (or two!) to give your droid that little extra attitude (and some new sounds!). Give your Droid some personality! Personality Chips There are also attachments for the two droid series to accessorize your droid. Customize Your Droid And finally, if you want to add a little color to your droid, pick up some decals! Customize your droid with these decals! Building our own droid was super fun and super easy. Droid Depot really surprised us with this with this one! After my first visit to Galaxy’s Edge I thought this was truly a money-grab from Disney. But…I’m being totally honest here…I really enjoyed making and meeting my droid. That said, you know yourself and your kids best. If your newest little friend is soon going to be gathering dust in a closet somewhere, think hard before shelling out the hundred smackers. Will you build a droid at Droid Depot? 18. Aaaaand WE’RE BACK at Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Oga’s Cantina Earlier this week we took a tour of the local watering hole of Black Spire Outpost (and you can see it all here). Oga’s Cantina But today? It’s ALL. ABOUT. THE SIPS! Because we’re stepping back inside Oga’s Cantina… Oga’s Cantina … to check out THE DRINKS on the menu and share them with you!! So, grab a seat (umm, if you can find one, that is — this place fills up fast)! Booth And take in a tune or two from DJ R-3X! HIT IT, Rex! DJ R-3X! And let’s check out what the Bartenders of Batuu are serving up from here… Oga’s Cantina … at THE CANTINA!! A Few Fun Facts About Oga’s Cantina… Oga Garra is basically the “mob boss” as the citizens of Batuu will tell you. She’s very influential, and while you won’t see her in the cantina, you might hear her inside and outside. Cast members behind the bar are able to press buttons to lower the music and play Oga’s voice. And while you’re waiting to get inside (lines have been at least an hour or two each day since Galaxy’s Edge has been open), you may hear Oga speaking from a high-up window. The creatures who contribute to your drinks are housed right at the bar. The Worrt produces eggs for your Jabba Juice (you can see the eggs in the bottom of the container here); the slug is used for your Dagobah Slug Slinger; and the cast member tried to get me to believe there were Banthas on the roof for the Blue Bantha Milk drink…but I didn’t believe him. Worrt eggs make up part of your Jabba Juice The Cantina is powered by Hyperdrive (of course), and from time to time that hyperdrive tends to overload. You’ll know it’s happening when the lights start to flicker and DJ Rex powers down! Oga’s Cantina Hyperdrive When an overload occurs, Cantina cast members have to “fix” it by slamming it with a few hammers…and there’s often audience participation required. Eventually the hyperdrive wakes up again…and so does DJ Rex! Drinks and Eats Oga’s Cantina makes history in more than one way. First… HELLOOO!! It’s the CANTINA! But also, this watering hole is the first location to serve alcohol to guests in Disneyland park (while creative mocktails abound, too) outside of Club 33 and 21 Royal. Oga’s Cantina But these aren’t just any drinks. You’ll find concoctions made with ingredients sourced from all over the galaxy, with different options available depending on whether you hit up the Cantina first thing in the morning or later in the day or night. Oga’s Cantina Some things to note: all drinks are pre-made and served on tap, with an emphasis on sweet and sugary drinks (if you’re looking for something a little heavier hitting, it will be hard to find). There are no liquor bottles anywhere, so it’s not a full bar and you must order from the menu. Oga’s Cantina And none of the drinks we received are served with straws, just as an FYI. (But we did see paper straws on the bar, so you can request them if needed.) Oga’s Cantina Coaster They are, however, served atop some RAD COASTERS, custom made for the Cantina! Oga’s Cantina Coaster That said, the drinks are very colorful and provide a treat for the eyes as they’re created to look cool when the light from the bar shines up through them. On our third visit to the Cantina, we made a friend who happened to have Pantone color cards in her purse, so we decided to show you a fun spectrum! Colorful Drinks at the Cantina In short: they’re fun! Let’s dive in… Breakfast and Morning Specialties On most mornings, Oga’s Cantina will open with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. And unique beverages — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic — will be available from the day’s beginning. Oga’s Morning Menu Morning beverages WITH alcohol include the Spiran Caf ($16.00) featuring Peru Alto Mayo Organic Joffrey’s Coffee®, orange marmalade, Gosling’s 151 Rum, vanilla whipped cream, and citrus zest. And the Bloody Rancor ($17.00) is made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, and spicy Bloody Mary mix… all finished off with a sweet meringue Rancor bone! Bloody Rancor Morning drinks WITHOUT alcohol have a headliner with the Blue Bantha ($13.00): it’s a cold glass of Blue Milk with a Bantha-inspired vanilla-butter sugar cookie topper. Blue Bantha The Blue Bantha is not to be confused with the Blue Milk at the Milk Stand which is a frozen beverage while Oga’s Blue Bantha is not. The drinks do have a similar mild tropical berry flavor, through. And don’t worry — Blue Bantha is available all day, so you or your little Padawan won’t miss it no matter when you visit. The cookie is intriguing — it’s definitely a butter cookie on the bottom, but the middle layer is a coconutty, caramel-y mix that reminded me of a Girl Scout Samoa cookie! Up top is a meringue circle. Blue Bantha Cookie Topper Additional morning drinks include Black Spire Brew (a cold brew with honey, falernum, passion fruit, and citrus, $7.00). Black Spire Brew Moogan Tea (with chocolate milk, vanilla, and cinnamon, $7.00) and Tarine Tea (with peach, huckleberry, and mint, $6.50) are also available in the AM. Note that you can also get a regular coffee, latte, espresso, cappuccino, orange juice, or apple juice… but don’t do that. Just don’t. You’re in a galaxy far, far away for cryin’ out loud! Oga’s Morning Menu A couple of Breakfast Bites are also available with the Mustafarian Lava Roll and Rising Moons Overnight Oats. The Mustafarian lava roll is served warm here at the Cantina, and is basically a cinnamon roll topped with oreo cookie crumbs and “lava” icing. Mustafarian Lava Roll The overnight oats are a nice, sweet, hearty option that will stick with you for a while. You’ll also find both of these at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for breakfast, and the overnight oats are also at Ronto Roasters. Overnight Oats But back to Oga’s!! Lounge Menu The regular Lounge Menu for the remainder of the day likewise features drinks with and without alcohol. Oga’s Lounge Menu Oga’s Lounge Menu Alcoholic cocktails include the Fuzzy Tauntaun ($15.00) with Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, and Simply Orange® topped with tangerine and pure cane sugar… oh, and some “Buzzz” Foam! Fuzzy Tauntaun Okay, so… this one is delicious with plenty of peachy flavor. But that “Buzzz” foam? It makes your mouth go numb! I believe the sensation is due to the use of “Buzz buttons,” which are made from a szechuan flower said to contain a natural painkiller (and, honestly, not something I’d expect Disney to use, so it catches me by surprise). It’s a super weird sensation, but it’s very fun. Note that most of the “buzz” properties reside in the foam, you’ll still get a bit of a tingle from the drink itself. The Dagobah Slug Slinger ($15.00) mixes Herradura Reposado Tequila and Bols Blue Curaçao with citrus juices, ginger, herbs, and bitters. It’s garnished with rosemary. Dagobah Slug Slinger The bitters and ginger along with the scent of the rosemary as you drink (because, remember, none of the drinks are served with straws) makes this one very pungent and earthy tasting. If you prefer sweet drinks, skip this one. I mean, my friend said it tasted like branches… which, while fitting for Dagobah, doesn’t lend this one broad appeal. But another cantina patron I spoke to very much enjoyed this one. If you like bitters, this could be your new favorite. Bespin Fizz ($17.00) features Bacardi Superior Rum and Yuzu Purée with pomegranate Juice, white cranberry juice, and “Cloud Swirl.” Bespin Fizz This sangria-colored beverage has hints of glittery swirl! That said, because of the low-lighting in the Cantina it can be difficult to see the full effect (and the glitter doesn’t really come across in photos), but it is pretty with the swirling effect that’s further enhanced by being served in a dry ice cup to create more movement. (Luckily, I spilled mine all over the table, so we got to see the glittery swirl in full effect. LOL!) Flavor-wise, this one’s for fans of fruity beverages. Ready for a Jedi Mind Trick (“What, do you think you’re some kind of Jedi, waving your hand around like that?”)? It’s Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose Vodka, John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum and Bols Blue Curaçao with white grape juice, lime juice, and grapefruit bitters ($14.00). Jedi Mind Trick This one is served in a shorter glass, but it’s not a shot. Despite it’s bright blue color, there’s not too much to recommend this one. It’s flavor was minimal the two times I tried it. The T-16 Skyhopper ($15.00) is a fruity, creamy mix of Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Bols Melon Liqueur with kiwi, and Half & Half. T-16 Skyhopper Now, this one looks a bit like the Dagobah Slug Slinger in color, but it’s topped with a whole piece of dried kiwi instead of the rosemary. It’s also different in that this one’s INSANELY sweet and fruity. WAY too sweet for me. How about some Jet Juice ($14.00)?! Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur and Cedilla Açaí Liqueur is mixed with white grape juice and lemon juice. Jet Juice This one is served as a large shot, and it lives up to its name being the strongest drink on the menu. The flavors are good together, though, so it goes down easy even though it’s strong. The Outer Rim ($16.00) brings together Patrón Silver Tequila and Cedilla Açaí Liqueur with lime Juice and pure cane sugar topped with black salt and an exotic fruit purée. Outer Rim Essentially, the Outer Rim is a fruity margarita (though not too sweet) topped with a swath of foam reminiscent of passion fruit and blood orange. The black salt is only half rim, so don’t let that deter you. If you love margaritas (like me!) this is a good pick. Yub Nub! Is it an Ewok Celebration song? Is it a beachy drink? It’s BOTH! Yub Nub is Malibu Pineapple Rum and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum with citrus juices and passion fruit. Yub Nub Fittingly, it’s served in a souvenir Endor mug (which makes this one a $42.00 drink). Yub Nub Passion fruit seeds are scattered amongst the ice, giving the orange drink green color accents. It’s super fruity and sweet; no complaints. The Blue Bantha from the Morning Specialties is joined by five other non-alcoholic drinks on the Lounge Menu. Hyperdrive (Punch It!) ($6.00) is Powerade® Mountain Berry Blast mixed with white cranberry juice, black cherry purée, and Sprite®. Hyperdrive (Punch It!) It’s a sugary PUNCH, no doubt. But your kiddos will get a big kick out of the appearance, for sure (and yes, will likely enjoy the sugar rush, too). Jabba Juice ($6.50) blends Simply Orange® with pineapple, kiwi, cantaloupe, and blueberry popping pearls. This one is a yummy option if you love orange juice! And don’t forget — those blueberry popping pearls are Worrt eggs! Jabba Juice Blurrgfire ($7.00) is a sweet and spicy mix of Odwalla® Lemonade and pomegranate juice with habanero-lime. This one has a small, spicy kick from the habanero, but overall, it’s a super saturated sugary and fruity drink. Carbon Freeze (“I love you.”; “I know.”) is Powerade® Lemon Lime and Wild Strawberry with blueberry and green apple popping pearls ($7.50). Carbon Freeze You’ll notice it’s served in the same style cup as the Bespin Fizz to create bubbling and brewing within the cup via that dry ice action. The Cliff Dweller combines citrus juices with coconut, hibiscus-grenadine, and Seagram’s® Ginger Ale. This one is — again — super sweet (sensing a theme?), but not as cloying as the Blurrgfire. Cliff Dweller You’ll notice the $32.00 price tag, but that’s because it’s served in the most ADORABLE souvenir PORG mug! Cliff Dweller Listed as the “Provision” on the menu is Oga’s Obsession. Oga’s Obsession This jello-in-a-petrie-dish snack features Odwalla® Lemonade, cotton candy flavor, and popping pearls with a “bursting mixture of dried fruit” (which are totally pop rocks). And another snack is available if you’re visiting Oga’s Cantina outside of breakfast. Batuu Bits are a snack mix comprised of snack bits like wasabi peas, spicy chips, chocolate meringue bites (we think!) and more, for an attempt at a sweet and spicy mix. But the savory, spicy element won out in the flavor for sure. Batuu Bits It wasn’t our favorite thing to eat in Batuu, but I know several guests who enjoyed it. Beers on tap include Gold Squadron Lager, Gamorrean Ale, White Wampa Ale, and Bad Motivator IPA. Rancor Beer Flight in Center You can also try all four with the Rancor Beer Flight, served in a souvenir board with four Rancor teeth for $75.00. Rancor Beer Flight Rancor Tooth Spice Runner Hard Cider, unique to Batuu, is likewise served on tap. Selections of wine on tap that you’ll only find here at the Outpost feature Toniray and Imperial Guard, both by Goldschmidt Vineyards, Sonoma. Even outside of the drinks, though, a visit to Oga’s Cantina is obviously going to be a dream come true for so many Star Wars fans, and your visit will be part of “a day long remembered.” And the fact that there are fun and thoughtful drink offerings for both kids and adults in an unforgettable atmosphere makes this a truly special experience for fans, friends, and family to share. 22. Disney has released a few details about what’s to come at the 2019 D23 Expo which will take place in Anaheim from August 23rd – 25th and will include an information release involving Epcot’s transformation. Epcot Transformation Concept Art ©Disney The transformation of Epcot has already begun in earnest with construction of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride to the space-themed restaurant opening later this year (to name only two of several new eateries and attractions coming to the park). And of course, that’s not all that’s happening at Epcot. 25. Proprietor Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs is ready to feed Black Spire Outpost visitors at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo Entrance This fast-casual counter service restaurant located immediately to the left of the Millennium Falcon entrance is located in a working hangar bay. In fact, Chef Tuggs himself has docked a freighter right here loaded up with fresh ingredients sourced throughout the galaxy. Chef Tuggs honed his cooking skills in the kitchen of Maz Kanata on Takodana. After his time there, he traveled far and wide finding exotic ingredients along the way to create dishes now known as “Tuggs’ Grub.” His preferred mode of transportation? A modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport which also serves as a mobile kitchen and food service location. You can see the Multi-Transport Shuttle, in fact, directly on top of Docking bay 7. Docking Bay Cargo Containers Another recognizable feature of the restaurant’s roofline is a large circular dome, so when you’re hunting for Docking Bay 7, be sure to look for these characteristics. Docking Bay, as with every other landmark in Black Spire Outpost, does not have a sign in English labeling the entrance to the restaurant. You’ll need to scan the symbols above restaurant and shop entrances to confirm that you’ve found the right place (you’ll need your Datapad for that — click here to learn more!), but with Docking Bay 7, if you see a transport shuttle on the roof, you’ve arrived. Docking Bay 7 ‘sign’ to the right of the entrance Another feature of the roof that you’ll want to look for: a subtle homage to the first three Star Wars films! Spot three gray cargo containers with yellow writing that say 77, 80, and 83. Those are the years of Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, respectively. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is slightly elevated from the path in front of it, so diners must climb several steps or use a long ramp to get to the entrance. Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo But enter you must, because the atmosphere in Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is very cool. Atmosphere Inside Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo you are, unsurprisingly, surrounded by cargo and transport detritus. Cargo crates, exposed ducts and pipes, and large pods and cargo containers abound. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo If you look up, you’ll even spy a cargo crate being lowered through a ceiling hatch! Cargo being lowered into the space! Cargo Container Seating Other decor elements include alien creatures — clearly meant to represent ingredients on the menu. Most creatures look fish-like, and some alien fish are also “on ice” as decor, too. Ingredients on display Creatures on display! Fresh ingredients! Fish on ice On ice! When guests enter, the rather small (for the space and for the expected crowds) ordering area is to the right. Above the ordering area are three menu board screens. Two display the entrees; the center screen displays drinks, desserts, and kids’ meals. Order here! Order here! The process to pick up an order is the same as is found in most quick service locations in the Disney Parks. After the order has been placed, diners move to the left and wait at a counter for their trays of food. The seating area at Docking Bay is to the left of the entrance, and the decor here is essentially the same as we see everywhere in Galaxy’s Edge: industrial on top of industrial — but with subtle pops of color, including colorful uplights. Seating area looking back toward ordering area Docking Bay dining room Docking Bay dining room Docking Bay dining room Thankfully Docking Bay has some interesting design elements and materials that break up (but still sustain in spirit of) the monotony of gray. Tables are mostly chunky metal, and the chairs vary from chunky metal and wood to short stools. Metal tables in Docking Bay 7 Seating Some seating is in colored cargo pods that have ‘windows’ cut out of the ends and one side of it held open as an entrance. Cargo Container Seating There are five cargo pod seating areas in the restaurant. Some have only one table with seating, while others have two or more tables with seating. Cargo Pod Seating Cargo Pod Seating Additional seating is at high-top tables. These stone-like tables provide a good amount of seating. And while they may be tricky for kiddos, they’re a welcome addition to the restaurant. Note that the high-top seats do have backs, while most low seating on stools does not. High Tops Table design High tops and counter seating But the real star of the dining area for us is through the left-most exit door when you look into the restaurant from the entrance. Through that door is an outdoor seating area for Docking Bay 7, and it’s lovely. Exterior entrance of Docking Bay as seen from outdoor patio Triangular scraps of fabric are stretched across the overhead space, provided a little texture, color, and protection from the sun. Outdoor seating with shade from triangular fabric overhead Punched-metal lanterns and lanterns with rounded corners and edges are installed in bunches overhead. These provide some nice ambient lighting after dark. Lighting Seating here consists of twelve wood-looking tables and chairs (similar to inside) and some of the built-in stone benches. Outdoor Seating at Docking Bay Outdoor Seating at Docking Bay The outdoor seating area is surrounded by a low stone wall. Pillars of destroyed stone are bolstered by pipe from which decorative lanterns hang. Decorative fencing provides some separation without obscuring views of the land beyond. Low wall for separation For those visitors who need a respite in Black Spire Outpost, this little seating area will do the trick. Even if the space is filled with diners, it’s a place to relax, observe, and process your experiences. And there’s a view. Brace yourself. Views from Docking Bay 7’s Outdoor Patio The word you’re searching for is “wow”. The Stone outcroppings in the background juxtaposed with the tan tones of the restaurant are something special. This is easily one of the loveliest spots we found in Galaxy’s Edge, and we can see it becoming a go-to place to escape. Not gonna lie: if they had alcohol at Docking Bay, this would be a terrific beer garden (or cocktail garden… that’s a thing, right?). Eats Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo! And all entree dishes come in reusable plastic, cast iron-looking oval pots with handles. Kids’ meals are served in smaller pots of the same design. Note that we haven’t tried everything yet, but will share full breakfast and lunch reviews soon! We sampled several of these items at a preview we attended last week. We weren’t allowed to take photographs then, but the food samples were out today for photographing, so here we go! We’ll have more reviews from Docking Bay 7 soon! Breakfast The breakfast menu features three choices: Rising Moons Overnight Oats, the Bright Suns Morning meal (also available for Younglings), and the Mustafarian Lava Roll. The Mustafarian Lava Roll is a sweet breakfast treat — basically a cinnamon roll! Mustafarian Lava Roll This is basically dessert for breakfast. We haven’t sampled one yet, but hope to tomorrow! Mustafarian Lava Roll Rising Moons Overnight Oats will be available in Ronto Roasters and Oga’s Cantina, too. These are Oats, Dragon Fruit, Yogurt, and Seasonal Fruit. Rising Moons Overnight Oats The oats are pink in color, we presume from dragon fruit juice. And the ratio of fruit to oats is a little heavier on the fruit. Seasonal fruit on our visit consisted of blueberries, melon, mango, and kiwi. And because it’s Disney, there are some popping pearls on there, too. Rising Moons Overnight Oats All-Day Entrees We’ll explore a few options specific to lunch or dinner next, but All-Day Entrees feature Smoked Kaadu Ribs, Fried Endorian Tip-Yip (crispy chicken), Roasted Endorian Tip-Yip Salad, and Yobshrimp Noodle Salad. (Again, we’ll have MORE FOOD PHOTOS on Friday!) Smoked Kaadu Ribs are Korean-inspired and as such have a slightly sour taste. The ribs themselves were a bit dry, and the sauce was definitely a little heavy on the vinegar for us. The ribs come with cabbage slaw which was pickled (a vague homage to kimchi, minus some of the distinctive seasoning) and, again, just too sour for our taste. The corn blueberry muffin — really more of a ball than a muffin — was delicious. We’d eat a bunch of those for a snack or breakfast if they were available. Smoked Kaadu RIbs Overall, not our favorite dish, but if you’re more familiar with or a fan of sour-based savory dishes, this might work for you. Fried Endorian Tip-Yip is a dish that will be familiar in some ways — because it’s fried chicken! But of course, it had an other-worldly twist in that it’s a block. Seriously: it’s cut into a rectangular cube with straight edges and no sense of what that meat should look like organically. Rather than the typical Disney Parks chicken nugget breading, the Tip-Yip has a panko-style breading, giving it a different texture than you might expect from a chicken tender, essentially, in the Parks. And unfortunately, aside from the breading, the chicken didn’t have much flavor. Even more unfortunately: it was dry. Way overcooked. Maybe it’s the Tip-Yip way, but meh. Fried Tip Yip The Roasted Vegetable Potato Mash was actually quite good. Peas and carrots are incorporated into the mashed potatoes, and this side dish is seasoned well. The Herb Gravy that’s generously spooned into the bottom of the dish had a tang to it that we couldn’t quite identify. (We’ll check with cast members soon!) Maybe it’s just that it was so unexpected with the comfort food vibe of mashed potatoes and fried chicken, but I didn’t care for the gravy. Fried Tip Yip The Yobshrimp Noodle Salad was not our favorite. This chilled dish consists of shrimp, marinated noodles, vegetables, and cilantro. The kids’ version of this dish specifies a sweet orange dressing, so we think that’s the dressing on the adult version, too. We found the overall flavor to be a bit one-note: pickled. Something about it, again, was just too sour for us. But if you enjoy pickled foods, you might like this! It’s certainly a light and creative option for theme park dining — no doubt about that — but we just weren’t fans. Yobshrimp Docking Bay also offers a few items that are only lunch or only dinner. The Lunch-only option is the Felucian Garden Spread. This vegan dish consists of plant-based ‘kefta’, herb hummus, tomato-cucumber relish, and pita. Felucian Garden Spread This Mediterranean-inspired dish combines some bold flavors and a lovely presentation. We didn’t get the chance to try this one, but everyone who has seems to love it. Felucian Garden Spread The dinner-only menu items included our favorite dish on the entire menu: Braised Shaak Roast! Essentially this is a pot roast with gravy, cavatelli pasta, kale, and vegetables. The pot roast was delicious — savory, well-cooked, and comforting. Just the kind of thing you’d want to eat if you traveled to another, unfamiliar planet. The vegetables we received included pearl onions, carrots, and green beans. They were all prepared well — cooked but not mushy. Braised Shaak Roast Surprisingly, even though pasta seems an odd side for pot roast, it really went perfectly with it. The Braised Shaak Roast is just so good. We’re sad it’s only available for dinner, but we’ll have to keep watch of the menu and plan accordingly so we can get it again! (More pics coming soon!) The Roasted Endorian Tip-Yip Salad was — you guessed it! — roasted chicken on a salad! Marinated chicken is placed atop Mixed Greens and accompanied by Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, Quinoa, and Pumpkin Seeds. The dressing is Green Curry Ranch, which didn’t work for us. But for a salad, it has a lot going for it: butternut squash, kale, yellow cauliflower, quinoa. It’s a bowl full of nutritious components, but we just didn’t love it. Perhaps with a different dressing — like a vinaigrette to awaken all those other flavors — it would work better. (More pics Friday!) The other dinner-only menu item is the Ithorian Garden Loaf. This is another option for vegan and vegetarian diners. This plant-based ‘meat’loaf had a good amount of flavor, and the texture was decent, too. The Roasted Vegetable Potato Mash was great, and the seasonal vegetables and mushroom sauce were logical accompaniments. While this didn’t rival the Braised Shaak Roast, for a vegan option, it’s really quite good. Okay, now, we have some issues with the kids’ menu here –– namely that very few kids will be into the food at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. Two of the menu items — Fried Endorian Tip-Yip and Yobshrimp Noodle Salad — are the same as the adult menu just in smaller portions. Though truthfully, we think the kids actually get a better deal with the Fried Endorian Tip-Yip because theirs comes with mac and cheese! Despite being dry, the mac and cheese had great flavor, and we thought it was one of the better things we tried in the entire meal. (So grown ups, this might be a good option for you, too, if you’re not into the adult version!) The third kids’ menu item is A Taste of Takodana, which serves up black bean hummus, edible soil, and nuts along with veggies and multigrain crisps for dipping. We know there are plenty of kids out there who like healthy food, but those kids are perhaps a little rarer than this kids’ menu gives them credit for. Still, what an offering on a theme park menu! To bribe your kids into eating at Docking Bay 7, you’ll want to know about two Desserts that are up for grabs: the Oi-oi Puff (a raspberry cream puff with passion fruit mousse) and the Batuu-bon, made with Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Mousse, Coffee Custard. The Oi-oi Puff was really stellar. It was pretty big and filled with a sweet and tart raspberry mousse. It was topped with what the menu describes as passion fruit mousse, but it was definitely panna cotta-ish in texture and bland. We were expecting to be hit with tropical fruit flavor and just didn’t get that. Oi-Oi Puff But of the two desserts, the Oi-oi Puff was our favorite. The Batuu-bon was a dense, brownie-like cake that reminded us of flourless cake. (Note, this is not listed on the online menu as Gluten/Wheat-Allergy Friendly, so check with the cast members when you order!) Batuu-Bon It’s topped with a white chocolate dome that’s filled with a small amount of coffee mousse. Batuu-Bon While this dessert is rich and dense, it wasn’t as compelling as the Oi-oi Puff. It was small, and it was a little too fussy. Batuu-Bon Now remember…all items are served with SPORKS ONLY! ;-D Ha ha! No knives for you! Spork at Docking Bay Docking Bay 7 also has a few specialty beverages: Moof Juice, Phattro, and Batuubucha Tea. These are available all day long. Moof Juice was our favorite of the three. It consists of Simply Fruit Punch®, Simply Orange® with Pineapple, and Chipotle-Pineapple. It was super delicious. Moof Juice is peachy orange in color, and while it claims to have chipotle in it, we didn’t taste much of that. Definitely don’t shy away just because of the chipotle; it’s a fruity drink without any smoky heat. (What a strange thing to say about a drink!) Moof Juice Phattro was our second favorite drink. It combines Gold Peak® Unsweetened Tea, Odwalla® Lemonade, and Desert Pear. It’s basically fruity iced tea — not a bad thing at all, just not overly special or clever. Phattro The Batuubucha Tea is straight-up Suja® Pineapple Passionfruit Kombucha. That’s… not our thing, so we didn’t like this at all. But if you are a fan of Suja’s kombucha, it’s good to know this drink is available. Batuubucha Overall Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a destination, for sure, in Black Spire Outpost. From the massive exterior features, it’s clear the restaurant is meant to be a stand-out in the land. But we didn’t find the food to be outstanding at all. With the exception of the Braised Shaak Roast, Moof Juice, and the Oi-oi Puff, there’s really nothing we would go back for. But here at the DFB we always say that the one thing Disney is consistent about in its dining is that it’s inconsistent. We may well find that the menu changes over time, that dishes get tweaked as they receive feedback, and that quality improves (or diminishes) over time. So we’ll keep checking so you’ll know what to expect. “Till the Spire”, friends! Which of the Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo dishes would YOU like to try? Let us know in the comments!
