  3. Mere hours after leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a dramatic victory in Super Bowl LIV, MVP Patrick Mahomes on Monday was whisked away to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida for a celebratory day full of magical moments for the star quarterback and his fans. Mahomes was the star of a parade down Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park where he thanked Chiefs fans for their support – whether they were lining the route or watching from home. With confetti bursting overhead, he waved to cheering fans alongside Mickey Mouse. Joining Mahomes on this adventure was a 10-year-old Make-A-Wish child from Texas named Nathaniel, who participated in the parade as part of his dream-come-true day. Nathaniel also traveled to a galaxy far, far away with Mahomes, experiencing the groundbreaking new attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In addition to Nathaniel, 17 other Make-A-Wish children whose wishes were to attend the Super Bowl extended their magical wishes by visiting Magic Kingdom Park today. They got to spend time with Mahomes, shaking hands with the superstar and getting special footballs courtesy of the MVP. The inclusion of Make-A-Wish in Disney’s Super Bowl campaign this year is an extension of Disney’s commitment to deliver comfort and inspiration to children facing serious illnesses. That commitment also includes the just-announced Disney Parks donation of $1 million to Make-A-Wish in honor of Mahomes as part of Disney Parks’ designation as presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl MVP ceremony. Currently, Disney helps grant more than 10,000 wishes each year for children around the world. View the full article
  4. Last year, Soarin’ Over California briefly returned to its original home at the Disneyland Resort, much to fans’ delight. While the run only lasted during the summer months (and even saw an extension to its run!), many demanded that it return once again. Soarin’ Over California The Orange County Register officially confirmed today that the attraction will make another limited return this year and we can already smell the orange groves! Soarin’ Over California will return to Disney California Adventure starting on February 28th, 2020. The run is in conjunction with the park’s Food and Wine Festival, which is set to take place from February 28 – April 21, 2020. We’re hoping Soarin’ Over California will at least run through the 21st, although Disney has yet to confirm an official end date. We will let ya know once they do! Soarin’ Over California ©Disney The original version of this attraction was wildly popular last summer and saw large crowds when it returned for a limited time. So it was no surprise to us when we heard that it’s coming back! And what better time than during the California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, right?! 5. While we’ve been scurrying around Disney World the last few days to discover all of the new 70th-anniversary Cinderella treats (like the Greedy Gus Gus Cupcake we spotted earlier), we’re not sure if this next one is the miracle we’ve been dreaming of! Cinderella Cheesecake Don’t get us wrong — we’re totally aglow with how this Cinderella Cheesecake looks, buuut things started to get weird once we sliced into it! Styled closely after Cinderella’s signature buggy, this new treat closely resembles some of the coach-style eats we’ve seen in recent days including the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake and Cinderella’s Carriage Cake Pop! But even though this snack appears almost as gorgeous as the lovely lady Cinderella herself, it lost a bit of magic… Cinderella Cheesecake For us, the spell is broken as soon as we sliced into it! It looked like a sad, smashed blue pumpkin and there was a gaping void around the Nutella ganache filling at its center which was ROCK HARD! Admittedly, we cut into the Cinderella Cheesecake just moments after pulling it out of the refrigerated case, so the center didn’t have time to soften up. If you’re planning on hitching a ride with the Cinderella Cheesecake, we suggest you let it rest for a few moments so it can come to temperature before digging in! Cinderella Cheesecake Our cheesecake was also really soft and a little runny. It was more like a mousse-consistency and wasn’t packed with any discernable flavor. The white chocolate decorative pieces and crispies on top added a little textural interest, but in all the Cinderella Cheesecake took us on a strange ride texturally! With this being said, the flavors were INCREDIBLE! So maybe we just got a bad batch of cheesecake or maybe the secret is to let it rest for a bit after taking it out of the fridge. We’re total Nutella lovers and think this would be 10x better if that chocolate goodness wasn’t so hard. See what you think of the Cinderella Cheesecake by grabbing one for yourself for $5.49 from Caribbean Beach Club’s Centertown Market! Will you be trying the new Cinderella Cheesecake at Disney World? 6. Jambo, DFB fam! We know you’re probably a little tired after watching the BIG GAME last night, so let’s take a moment to escape to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge together! Animal Kingdom Lodge And while Animal Kingdom Lodge has one of the coolest lobbies to sit and relax in, we’re heading around to the back to check out what’s new at Uzima Springs — Animal Kingdom Lodge’s infamous pool bar! Uzima Springs has been one of our favorite watering holes at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a while now. And today, it looks like they’re serving up a new few frosty concoctions like the African Sunset, Flamingo Mule, and Safari Mudslide. Menu Sign at Uzima Springs Pool Bar We tried out the African Sunset which features mango rum, African Starr rum, and a mixture of mango and strawberry purée! Plus it comes garnished with a big ol’ juicy strawberry! African Sunset In all honesty, we were kinda hoping the drink would be a lot prettier (like the gorgeous sunset we envisioned in our minds with a cool red to orange ombre effect!). Rather sadly, the colors of our mango and strawberry purée blended together at a hastened pace and we were left with a mostly orange-looking slushy. African Sunset The flavors of the new African Sunset were really great! We enjoyed the fruitiness of the purée and the sucker punch from the rum! The drink wasn’t too sweet and definitely finished on a high note for us! We enjoy frozen cocktails (especially while lounging poolside) so this drink was a nice change of pace from a standard margarita or daiquiri! African Sunset The African Sunset is $15 and totally yummy! Find it currently grazing at Uzima Springs and be sure to check out the other new drink we spotted at Disney World today — the Heart-Poppin’ Punch! Read our review of it HERE! 9. Super Bowl Sunday has come and gone, but we’re still SUPER psyched about the Kansas City Chiefs BIG WIN! 13. Award season is in the air … even here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Yes, it’s hard to believe a year has passed so quickly, but here we are, ready to announce the Fourth Annual Disney Parks Moms Panel Awards. This has become such an exciting tradition for us and spoiler alert, while some favorites have remained the same, we do have a few new winners this year! With more than 180 current and former panelists casting their votes, let’s see who came out on top this week for Walt Disney World Resort Awards. Category: Favorite Snack There is no doubt our panelists love a good Dole Whip, and for the fourth year in a row it is retaining its title of the Favorite Snack. It was a landslide for this cool, refreshing treat, but we must give credit to a few other strong contenders. A few of those snacks that deserve a shout out include Mickey Premium Bars and popcorn. Category: Favorite Seasonal Event Nosed out last year by Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, this year Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is back as the panelists’ Favorite Seasonal Event! The spooktacular party was the clear front runner, but there were many votes also cast for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Congrats to all the runner-ups in this category. Category: Favorite Walt Disney World Resort Hotel This was a close one, but once again our winner is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! The panelists simply can’t get enough of the views, spacious rooms, and convenience of this resort hotel. Honorable mentions this year go to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Category: Favorite Attraction to Enjoy with a Preschooler This year we brought back a favorite category and Peter Pan’s Flight took the top spot for the Favorite Attraction to Enjoy with a Preschooler. Many panelists said the pure joy they see on their little one’s face as thy fly through Neverland is simply priceless. Other attractions that received several votes include “it’s a small world” and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Category: Favorite Disney Springs Activity Want to know a fun fact about the panelists? They love a good meal, so it is no surprise that for the third year in a row, dining has claimed the number one spot as our panelists’ favorite thing to do at Disney Springs. Now don’t get us wrong they do love to shop, and shopping was a close second, but dining remained the winner this year. Make sure you plan a day at Disney Springs during your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation and you can ask the panelists what are their favorite dining locations! Congratulations to all our winners and next week stay tuned for our Disney Cruise Line Awards. Remember, if you are planning a Disney vacation and need tips from those in the know, please visit DisneyParksMomsPanel.com for a personalized answer from one of our panelists. View the full article

  15. Cinderella sure has been getting a LOT of attention around Disney World lately with a whole coach full of tasty and decorative treats in honor of the 70th Anniversary of the animated film. But she’s not the only Disney Princess deserving of a little honor these days… Mulan Cupcake Mulan, in fact, is the brave princess taking the (cup)cake at Disney World’s All-Star Music Resort! This cupcake features a thick pile of blue frosting with its vivid hue allowing the blossoms to really pop in both their appearance and white chocolate flavor. Mulan Cupcake While the frosting has a mild taste (reminiscent of whipped vanilla topping), it tops a fairly rich chocolate cake base. Mulan Cupcake Inside, the filling boasts a little bit of extra-flavor flair, with its cherry taste lending a surprising tartness. So if you’re prepared for a bit of pucker, this treat may be right up your alley! Mulan Cupcake You’ll find it for $5.99 at All-Star Music’s Intermission Food Court. The new live-action Mulan film hits the big screen on March 27, 2020, so we’ll be on the lookout for more treats inspired by the honorable Princess right up through the debut! 16. Since we heard the announcement that Avengers Campus is set to open at California Adventure this summer, we have anxiously waited for more details to emerge! ©Disney From the latest in ride technology to an ACTUAL FLYING SPIDER-MAN, there’s plenty to be excited about with this new land. But when it came to ‘assembling’ the opening team for the newest park expansion, Disney pulled out all the stops to re-imagine what the hiring process could look like, with one priority in mind: storytelling. While they did something similar with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this takes it to a whole new level. Imagine you are preparing for an upcoming job interview. You make sure you have a pristine cover letter and resume, you pick out an impressive outfit, and you rehearse answers to common interview questions. Then you arrive at the interview, only to be told to throw it all out the window and instead come up with a superhero name and powers! Avengers Campus Logo That’s exactly what Disney has done with hiring their opening team at Avengers Campus. Project Manager Michelle Sico explained in the Orange County Register the avant-garde approach to interviewing and selecting team members for the newest land at California Adventure. The first order of business was for applicants to completely re-design their resumes to fit the storytelling of Marvel. Next, they had to come up with their own superhero identity. ©Disney Applicants were then instructed to only refer to other candidates by their superhero names. Their ‘superpowers’ closely related to their own personal strengths, which ranged from optimism and motivation to intuition and sarcasm. The idea was to highlight how anyone can be a superhero in their own unique way. WEB After the icebreaker exercise was complete, the ‘recruits’ needed to work together as a team (again, only knowing each other’s superhero names and powers!) to gain access to the interviewing room through a series of codes and puzzles. WEB Spider Bots The interview itself was fashioned more like a Marvel quiz. Questions like, “Who was your favorite Spider-Man actor?” or “Are you team Captain America or Team Iron Man? Why?” challenged the applicants to showcase their enthusiasm for superheroes while expressing their personality, rather than prove themselves to be the ultimate Marvel ‘expert’. Avengers Campus construction This unique hiring process seemed to be a success and we can’t wait to meet these new ‘superheroes’ when Avengers Campus opens this summer! Sico noted that this journey revealed key parts of the applicant’s personalities, such as problem-solving and teamwork, which they may not have been able to identify through a traditional interview. PYM Test Kitchen Concept Art ©Disney As the true superheroes emerged from the pool of applicants, the hiring team was excited to see who could embody this storytelling to the guests when they visit Avengers Campus. And whether they got the ‘job’ or not, Sico mentioned that this process gave every applicant valuable skills that they can take with them to future interviews. Read all about Avengers Campus here! 20. You may have caught on to the fact that we here at DFB are pretty obsessed with the Kakamora Float. Inspired by the little coconut gremlins from Moana, this fruity creation first showed up at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and then became available throughout the day at Magic Kingdom’s Aloha Isle after the celebration ended. Kakamora Float Now, Disney has made it even easier to get your hands on this delicious island beverage with just the press of a button! That’s right, you can now skip the line and pick up your Kakamora Float using Mobile Order! Kakamora on Mobile Order Learn all about Mobile Order here! We noticed that the Kakamora Float had popped up on Mobile Order last week, so we quickly ordered one! A few hours later, we checked Mobile Order once more only to find that the Kakamora Float was no longer showing up on the app. Of course, we were totally BUMMED. It was still being served at Aloha Isle, however, so it didn’t disappear completely. Kakamora Float Now, we are noticing that it’s back on Mobile Order! So while we encourage you to take advantage of ordering up this sweet treat through Mobile Order, we suggest double-checking to make sure it’s still being listed as an option because who knows if/when the Kakamore Float will decide to disappear from the app again… Read our FULL Kakamora Float review here! 22. After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory Sunday night in Miami, Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes joined Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek this morning as he officially announced Disney Parks’ $1 million donation to Make-A-Wish in Mahomes’ honor. Chapek, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Mahomes were joined this morning by Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Richard K. Davis as well as Nathaniel, 10, a Make-A-Wish child from Texas. Nathaniel and 17 other Make-A-Wish kids, who attended the Super Bowl as their wish, will now travel today to Walt Disney World Resort to continue the celebration of the Chiefs’ victory. Together, Disney and Make-A-Wish have granted more than 140,000 wishes to children facing serious illnesses around the world. The first official wish granted to a Make-A-Wish child involved a trip to Disneyland Resort nearly 40 years ago. Currently, Disney helps grant more than 10,000 wishes each year. The Make-A-Wish donation Monday morning followed the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in Miami on Sunday night. After his dazzling performance, in which he led a furious fourth-quarter comeback by tossing two touchdown passes, Mahomes looked into the cameras and shouted that famous line: “I’m going to Disney World!” Mahomes joins some of the biggest names in Super Bowl history by delivering that famous phrase, which has become part of an iconic Disney TV commercial airing nationally this week. Joined by the Make-A-Wish child, Mahomes is celebrating his performance and the Chiefs’ victory today with a festive day at Walt Disney World Resort. Mahomes will be the star of a colorful parade down Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park and will interact with beloved Disney characters and cheering fans. You can watch a special livestream of the parade right here on the Disney Parks Blog, starting at approximately 2:40 p.m. ET. View the full article
