Love is in the air at Disney California Adventure, folks! Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich The birds were chirping and the bees were buzzin’ as we visited Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream yesterday to sample their new Valentine’s Dipped Ice Cream Bar. And today, we’ve been lured us back to Clarabelle’s to tantalize our tastebuds with their Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich! Check out this little cutie Clarabelle’s is serving up in honor of V-day (which last we checked, is rapidly approaching!). It’s two lovely macaroon cookies sandwiched together with strawberry buttercream, strawberry compote, and coated with colorful heart-shaped sprinkles on its sides! Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich We loved how this adorable treat was served nice a cold!! It gave the buttercream a frozen-like consistency that we really enjoyed when taking a bite. The compote on the inside was nice and tart, which added a fun bit of flavor to the macaron. Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich For us, we felt the Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich was a nice, refreshing snack on a lovely day at the parks! Try it for yourself for $5.99! It’s a tough choice: the classic combo of milk and cookies… Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies and Milk … or a CUPCAKE? Well, at The Artist’s Palette in Disney World’s Saratoga Springs Resort, you don’t have to choose, thanks to the Milk & Cookies Cupcake! Milk & Cookies Cupcake Get ready to dig in starting with the super soft chocolate chip cookie right on top. Milk & Cookies Cupcake It’s placed on a surprisingly light and airy vanilla bean frosting which isn’t overly sweet by any means, allowing the vanilla bean flavor to really come through. (Look closely, and you’ll notice hints of edible glitter, too.) Milk & Cookies Cupcake That cookie on top, though, isn’t the only cookie you’ll find in this treat. Milk & Cookies Cupcake The edible cookie dough filling tucked inside — dotted with chocolate bits — is seriously tasty, creamy, and even a little bit salty. It’s the perfect complement to the vanilla cake base! Simply put, the Milk & Cookies Cupcake is GOOD. Like, really good. The thing is, it took us a little while to try it, what with so much cupcake goodness like the Hidden Truth Cupcake and the Orange Bird Cupcake popping up in this Saratoga Springs counter service spot these days. Milk & Cookies Cupcake in Bakery Case But if that comforting combo of milk and cookies is what you crave, be sure to get your fix (for $5.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit) with the Milk & Cookies Cupcake at The Artist’s Palette! Would you like to try the Milk & Cookies Cupcake? Please let us know with a comment! “I’m Going to Disney World!” For years, the Super Bowl hero has shouted this iconic phrase after a hard-fought Super Bowl victory. But this year includes a new twist: 10-year-old wish kid Nathaniel became the first Make-A-Wish kid ever to join Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes on the victory tour to Walt Disney World Resort. Nathaniel witnessed Super Bowl LIV live at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday along with 18 other deserving kids from Make-A-Wish, thanks to the NFL’s largest Super Bowl wish granting act yet. With prime seats on the 50-yard line, it seemed the experience couldn’t get any more magical… until the MVP Ceremony. During the MVP Ceremony, Nathaniel and the other 18 Make-A-Wish children, whose wishes were to attend the Super Bowl, were invited to extend their magical experiences by joining the celebration at Walt Disney World. Disney also announced a donation of $1,000,000 to Make-A-Wish in honor of Patrick Mahomes, as part of Disney’s commitment to deliver comfort and inspiration to children facing serious illnesses. Nathaniel got the chance to join the MVP in a parade down Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park. He also experienced the newest attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, met popular Disney characters, and spent time talking with his hero, Patrick Mahomes. You can watch Nathaniel and the wish kids’ experience at this super celebration here: For 40 years, Disney has been providing magic to wish kids and their families when they need it most, and this Super Bowl surprise is the beginning of a year-long celebration of Make-A-Wish and Disney’s relationship that began with the first official wish in Make-A-Wish history. Since 1980, Disney has helped Make-A-Wish grant more than 140,000 wishes around the world. Be sure to stay tuned throughout the year as we continue to celebrate 40 years of wish granting with Make-A-Wish. View the full article

Magical music is in the spotlight! Get swept away by the songs you love. Sit back and enjoy the beloved show-stopping numbers from legendary Disney musicals. Every two weeks, we’ll welcome different pairs of Disney stage stars to the Disney on Broadway Concert Series, to perform some of the songs they helped make famous—plus other sensational tunes. Performances are at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily until February 24, 2020. “Nothing has ever brought me more joy than the time I have spent working on a play or a musical—or a piece of entertainment of any kind,” said Thomas Schumacher, who recently celebrated his 30th year with The Walt Disney Company, and is producer and president of Disney Theatrical Productions. There was a time, though, only 25 years ago, when Disney and Broadway did not exist together. Disney stage shows were performed in arenas, inside the Disney Parks, or as one-off “spectaculars” in famous venues such as Radio City Music Hall. The 1994 opening of “Beauty and the Beast” changed that, and in its own way also changed Broadway. “It’s been 25 years since “Beauty and the Beast” opened on Broadway,” Tom says, “we obviously weren’t the first people to do a family musical. Certain generations would say, ‘Oh, the first musical I saw was “The King and I” or “The Sound of Music” or “Annie.” “Beauty and the Beast” brought a very different audience than what people were expecting on Broadway. It was both a ‘date night’ show and a family show.” In the intervening quarter-century, the Broadway stage has seen a series of popular and acclaimed Disney productions of “The Lion King,” “Mary Poppins” (a co-production with Cameron Mackintosh), “Newsies,” “Aladdin,” and many more; which have transformed the way audiences experience these beloved stories—and theatergoing in general. Thomas Schumacher, producer and president of Disney Theatrical Productions. © Disney“Frozen,” which was nominated for a 2018 Tony Award for Best Musical, began its North American Tour at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre on December 4. Tom recalls, “Frozen was crazy, because I had nothing to do with the movie. My friends at animation said, ‘You should see this.’ So at midnight, we screened it in a Disney screening room while I was working on Aladdin in Toronto. I was so captivated, immediately I saw that it was a stage musical. That’s really because of the way [composers] Bobby [Lopez] and Kristen [Anderson-Lopez] shaped the music. I literally from the theater called California and said, ‘When do we start?’” “Frozen” and other Disney Theatrical productions tour the world, bringing live entertainment events to a global annual audience of more than 20 million people in more than 50 countries—and have brought countless millions the joy of theatre. The Disney on Broadway Concert Series offers daily performances are at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. until February 24, 2020. © DisneyTom takes a special joy in further expanding this theatrical reach by bringing Disney on Broadway and its ever-increasing family of stage stars to the Epcot International Festival of the Arts each season. “The Epcot audience is a sort of microcosm of our worldwide audience,’ Tom says. “A variety of ages and backgrounds coming together from all over the place, in a space and a style that is uniquely ‘Disney’—but at the heart of it all, it this universal and human experience of Theatre. “’Theatre’ is a big concept,” Tom says, “It is magic, it is drama, it is music. It is dance, it is beauty, it is heartbreak. It is a place where nothing is real and yet to me, it has always meant a place where everything is possible. And absolutely real. Real in my heart.” This lifelong love of theatre led Tom in 2007 to write the classic Disney Editions book How Does the Show Go On? An Introduction to the Theater, which has just been reissued in a completely revised and updated Third Edition. “I’ve kind of done everything in the theatre in one way or another, and wanted to write about it. I wanted to write the book that I wanted as a kid. When I was young there wasn’t really any kind of accessible ‘primer’ on the fundamentals of theatre. So with my friend Jeff Kurtti, I wrote one.” An innovative “augmented reality” feature is a part of the education and entertainment contained in this remarkable book. © DisneyThis edition includes never-before-seen photos and personal stories from the making of Disney’s latest hit Broadway musical, and the addition of hit shows such as “Newsies” and “Aladdin,” but it also features an incredible new “augmented reality” component. “By scanning a code found sprinkled throughout the book,” Tom explains, “you can use the free Disney Scan app and open fun, related video content right on your mobile device. It’s enabled us to explain and enhance and deepen the information in the book and the celebration of the too-often-invisible people who are all part of making these richly collaborative works. “And my favorite part of my job is really the period of creation. In our business—different from other parts of the entertainment industry—we get to be together. If you make a movie, you’re separated into your process. But we’re all in the room together. That to me is so thrilling. It’s the people. “It is a business, it is a hobby, it is a place to go to work, a place to play with your friends, a place to learn about yourself, and a place to learn about others. It is my hope that within the pages of How Does the Show Go On? fellow theatre-lovers, young and old, will find something they didn’t know, something they didn’t know they didn’t know, and something that they’ll want to know more about.” View the full article

There are SO MANY exciting changes happening around the Walt Disney World resort! Spaceship Earth Between new attractions (hello- Rise of the Resistance!), Epcot’s amazing transformation, and new resort openings, it can be hard to keep up with the latest and greatest restaurants to hit the Disney world scene. Have no fear! We got your back. A lot has happened in the past year you may have overlooked! We’re taking a look at 8 newish Walt Disney World Restaurants that we think should DEFINITELY be on your radar. Without further ado and in no particular order, let’s DIG IN (literally — our forks are ready!). Jaleo Jaleo at Disney Springs is a welcome table service addition to the West Side brought to you by James Beard award-winning celebrity chef José Andrés. This authentic Spanish restaurant serves on up traditional fare on their extensive tapas menu that features paella as well as hand-picked wines. With such a large menu, there’s truly something for every taste bud. Jaleo Some of our favorites? Their hand-carved, 48-month cured Jamon Iberico and the Croquetas de Pollo (the presentation is super fun, too!). Of course, you can wash all this back with one of their signature sangrias. Croquetas de Pollo at Jaleo If you’re looking for a unique dining experience outside of the parks, head down to Disney Springs and give this location a try. No time to sit down and eat? You can also swing around the corner to visit José Andrés’ quick service location, Pepe, to pick up a variety of tasty sandwiches and even a few favorites from over at Jaleo like those mega yummy Croquetas de Pollo! Check out even more of the tasty food at Jaleo by clicking HERE! Enchanted Rose Bar and Lounge While technically a lounge, The Enchanted Rose Bar and Lounge is a Beauty and the Beast-themed foodie destination at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Located on the resort’s 2nd floor in the main lobby, they are serving up a limited menu that features some substantial and delicious options. Snack on Crab & Gnochetti Gratin, Short Rib Sliders, or Truffle French Fries while basking in an elegant Baroque-influenced atmosphere (There are also some subtle Beauty and the Beast details scattered throughout the location!). Crab Gnocchetti Gratin The lounge also features an inspired cocktail menu that includes a few tableside service options. Drinks and a show? We are always down for that! Drink Mixing Cart Many of the mixed drinks feature fresh notes like citrus, herbs, or florals, which we loved. Some of our favorite sips were the Lavender Fog, with its floral addition of Crème de Violette, and the Garden Daisy, with a strong flavor of fresh cucumber. Garden Daisy While the lounge opens daily at 1:00 PM, please be aware that food service doesn’t begin until 5:00 PM. We were majorly impressed by the quality of the food and drinks here, and the upscale yet chill vibe of the lounge provides a welcome respite after a long day in the parks! Check out our review of the FULL menu at Enchanted Rose here! Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood We have seen some major (and exciting!) upgrades in the past year at Disney’s Coronado Springs, including the opening of the lavish new tower, Gran Destino. Perhaps the highlight of this new tower is Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood, a rooftop Spanish-inspired restaurant with gorgeous views of Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios via floor-to-ceiling windows. Toledo Dining Room The menu is reflective of various regions of Spain and includes tapas, steak, and seafood entrees, as well as hand-crafted beverages. They also proudly feature an extensive wine list that is prominently on display in the restaurant with over 80% of its vintages from Spain. Visitors can dine on bites like Savory Churros, Heirloom Tomatoes or their gorgeous Manhatten Filet. Savory Churros The notably upscale vibe of the restaurant combined with those killer views made for a relaxing dining experience. Everything we tried was beautifully presented and created with quality, fresh ingredients. We welcome the opportunity to return to this location! Click here for our review of Toledo! Takumi-Tei Our next stop on the list is a truly unique new fine dining experience at the Japan Pavilion at Epcot. Takumi-Tei may be quite the investment (both time and money) but it is oh so worth it. This elevated experience offers a main menu in addition to an Omakase tasting menu (Priced at $130 per person). Takumi-Tei Entrance Way Beverages include traditional Japanese Beers, Wines, and Sakes as well as specialty cocktails. If you’re feeling adventurous, we recommend the Sakurajima which arrives in an oh so trendy glass smoke box. Are you feeling zen yet? Takumi-Tei Smoke Box You can dine on delicious Japanese A5 Wagyu strip steak and incredibly fresh sushi in a gorgeous space that feels far removed from a theme park. Takumi-Tei also offers an Omakase tasting menu, which is a fun way to leave it up to the Chef as they prepare you dishes from a prix-fixed menu. Part of the Omakase Menu at Takumi-Tei Looking for an even fancier experience?! You can book the Chef’s Table in the Water Room. This is a private dining experience in a gorgeous setting for up to 8 guests with a carefully curated menu. Takumi-Tei Water Room We do want to note that while we received phenomenal service and outstanding dishes, this is a true EXPERIENCE and should be treated as such. There is a dress code (no casual shorts are permitted, men must wear a collared shirt, no flip flops, tank tops, or hats are allowed!) and this experience will take some TIME! Be sure to budget time for this multi-hour dining experience if you’re interested! Check out our full review of Takumi-Tei by clicking here! Three Bridges Bar & Grill There’s another exciting new addition to the original section at Disney’s Coronado Springs. Three Bridges Bar & Grill is an over-the-water dining spot at Villa del Lago. This open-air restaurant is offering up plenty of space with bar, table, and lounge-style seating available. Three Bridges Bar & Grill The relaxed setting offers up a lounge-style menu that includes Sangria, Specialty Cocktails, Wine, and a limited, yet impressive food menu. With a menu that is broken down between Sharables and Sandwiches/Salads/Entrees, our highlights include the Fried Shrimp Corn Dogs and Harissa Lamb Chop. Not what you’d expect from typical bar food, right? Fried Shrimp Corn Dogs They also feature a dessert menu which includes their irresistible Warm Churros. Not at ALL like those of the same name found in the theme parks, these beauties are traditional Spanish style and super light. Warm Churros We just recently found their ah-mazing secret menu Street Corn Dip. It’s worth a trip out of your way to Coronado Springs for this dip alone. It’s THAT good! Mexican Street Corn Dip Grab a Sangria Flight and sit back to enjoy the calm water views. And that corn dip. Seriously…get the corn dip! Click here to read more about the secret menu dip at Three Rivers Bar and Grill! Ronto Roasters Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has become a new favorite for unique food and beverage options. Our trips to Batuu are never complete without a stop at Ronto Roasters. The force is strong at this quick-service spot offering up some seriously delicious (and addictive) bites. Ronto Roasters The smells of freshly grilled meats lure in visitors from around Black Spire Outpost. In addition to specialty beverages and a breakfast menu, the main draw here is the handheld delight that is the Ronto Wrap. This handheld wrap is a crazy explosion of flavor! It features roasted pork, grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, and tangy slaw, all wrapped up in a delicious and fluffy pita wrap. Ronto Wrap Since first opening, they’ve added a few other wrap options to the menu as well! Now guests can choose from the standard Ronto Wrap, the Chicken Ronto Wrap with lots of fresh veggies inside, and a plant-based Ronto-less Garden Wrap. Chicken Ronto Wrap If you eat one thing in Galaxy’s Edge, we hope it’s a tasty wrap from Ronto Roasters! Check out our review of the seriously tasty Ronto Wrap here! Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera We’re loving the newest restaurant to open in Disney World. Topolino’s sits atop the just-opened Riviera Resort, boasting panoramic views of the surrounding area, as well as stellar food. Topolino’s Rooftop Outdoor Terrace Topolino’s is a one-credit character breakfast in the mornings with the CUTEST characters we’ve seen in a long time! You can visit with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their finest Rennaisance inspired attire! Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast a la Art Characters Guests can choose from entrees like the gorgeous Quiche Gruyere served with a fresh salad, the Spiced Sausage Hash, or the decadent Croissant au Jambon (which is a wonderful excuse for a hefty serving of creamy Bechamel sauce and cheese!). Guests are also served complimentary pastries in the most adorable way possible. Breakfast a la Art Pastries For dinner, we were seriously blown away by how phenomenal their fresh pastas were when we tried them all. The entrees at Topolino’s are substantial and everything was incredibly well prepared and fresh. Meat eaters enjoyed the Tomahawk Veal Chop when we tried it, and seafood lovers equally enjoyed the Bouillabaisse. Bouillabaisse We can not stress enough how much we enjoyed not just the food but the overall experience and service at Topolino’s for dinner. This is one spot we’re quite eager to return to! Check out our full review of Topolino’s Terrace dinner here! Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet Food Truck Food trucks seem to be all the rage these days so it’s of no surprise that the food truck park is quite popular over in Disney Springs. Keeping with the trend, last year saw the arrival of a Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet Food Truck! This sweet treat haven on four wheels can be found on the West Side and features a menu of edible Cookie Dough (of course!) available in a cup or cone, and other delectable desserts. Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet Food Truck Favorites include the Celebration Parfait that includes layers of Celebration Cookie Dough and Celebration Mickey Cake, vanilla custard, strawberries, sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry. LOOK at that thing! So much sweet in a cup! Celebration Parfait They are also serving up fun cookie dough ‘tacos’ as well, like the super Instagrammable Springs Candy Taco. Springs Candy Taco Head on down to Disney Springs for a total sugar rush at this fun and colorful food truck! Check out our full review of the Everything Sweet Food Truck HERE! Oga’s Cantina While not technically a restaurant, we couldn’t make this list and not include the incredibly immersive Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the local watering hole of Black Spire Outpost features otherworldly concoctions and a VERY limited food menu. Oga’s Cantina The drinks here are weird in the best way possible. Sure, they have beer and wine available (Brace yourself for blue wine. ‘Cause you’re in spaaaace!), but the mixed drinks are the star of the show. Otherworldly mixed drinks here are all premixed and most are on the sweeter side. Expect the unexpected in the drinks here! Some are shimmery, puff out smoke, or, in the case of the Fuzzy Tauntaun, will make your mouth go NUMB (but just for a few seconds!). Rainbow of Drinks at the Cantina As for the bar grub, the breakfast menu features Rising Moons Overnight Oats and the Mustafarian Cinnamon Roll. For the rest of the day, you can pick up an order of Batuu Bits or their once-secret menu Charcuterie Board, but honestly, both of these options didn’t blow us away. Original Secret Menu Charcuterie Board at Oga’s Keep in mind that we HIGHLY recommend snagging an Advance Dining Reservation for this spot. It’s quite popular and often can’t accommodate walk-up guests. They often won’t even let you in to take a peek around without a reservation! If you want a peek in Oga’s, you can book a reservation 180 days out. Check out our full review of the drinks at Oga’s HERE! With so many new locations recently opening and even more to come, it can be VERY easy to overlook some great new-ish locations around Disney world! We’re getting so close to the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While we wish Disney would let us in already, March 4th is just around the corner! ©Disney We’ve been keeping up with the posters from the Mickey Mouse shorts Disney has been revealing get us pumped for the attraction. And now huge progress has been made overnight, as the official sign (which we took a look at earlier) for the attraction has finally been installed. While we were all asleep, dreaming of finally riding the attraction, Disney installed the sign over the doors of the Chinese Theater. So, let’s take a closer look at this brand NEW marquee! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway sign The sign reminds us of old Hollywood, which is sweet because it kinda gives us a bit of a Great Movie Ride feel (we miss you GMR!!). There is a lot of fun and intricate detailing up top, which should make for a stunning sight when the sign is lit up! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway sign And as you can see, Mickey and Minnie’s hands should wave back and forth once the sign comes to life at night! The two are also rocking their classic fits as seen in the Mickey Mouse Shorts. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Sign The new sign makes us eager to pop into one of these Mickey Mouse Shorts ourselves as we assist Mickey, Minnie, and the gang on a wild cartoon adventure. Click here to learn everything you NEED to know about Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! And it’s also important to not that if you’re planning on making the trip out for the grand opening, Disney recently changed the Hollywood Studios park hours for March. Helping children and families facing serious illness dates back to when Walt Disney himself joined animators and characters at children’s hospitals to bring patients a little more comfort and joy. Sharing the magic of Disney with children continues today as part of Disney’s philanthropic and outreach commitment to dedicate resources that deliver comfort and inspiration to children and families. Through this five-year, $100 million investment, transformations to the patient experience will take place in children’s hospitals around the world. And I am thrilled to share that in Central Florida, these transformations will soon expand and make an impact in three local hospitals including AdventHealth for Children, Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Hospital. Areas within these children’s hospitals will be reimagined with interactive play spaces, whimsical murals and comfort corridors that bring our beloved characters and treasured Disney stories to life, all while providing positive distractions to ease the stress of a hospital stay. There is so much that goes into these transformations, so let’s take a behind the scenes look into what it takes to bring them to life. Using the powerful combination of our much-loved characters, innovation and legendary creativity, teams across Disney, including Walt Disney Imagineers, worked with patient care experts to create these healing experiences that are distinctly “Disney” and designed to inspire young patients and families. The patient care experts’ medical insights have been invaluable in helping our talented Imagineers to bring the stories and characters of Disney to life through mesmerizing and interactive technology. Hear more from the team in the video below! Disney has a long history of caring for children, which includes granting nearly 10,000 wishes annually through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and sending care packages to children’s hospitals. “We are thrilled that this important initiative is expanding to three of our local children’s hospitals right here in Central Florida,” said Rena Langley, senior vice president of communications and public affairs at Walt Disney World Resort. Beyond the experts behind the magic of this company commitment, there’s already been an overwhelming response from the three Central Florida children’s hospitals that will soon receive transformed spaces. The anticipation and joy for this program to arrive is incredible, and each hospital’s response reminds me that we are impacting so many lives in tremendous ways. View the full article

When Hollywood Studios recently switched up its FastPass tiers giving Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Slinky Dog Dash equal billing, we knew an epic clash of the attractions would soon be ensuing amongst our family members. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run You see, while many of our tribe are adamant Slinky Dog Dashers, there are also quite a few Smugglers Runners in our midst. And now that you can only make a FastPass for one of these top tier attractions in advance, how do you decide? If you’ve been to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge already but BEFORE Rise of the Resistance opened, you may be thinking “Why do I need a FastPass for Millennium Falcon?” Smugglers Run You see, back in the day, it wasn’t uncommon for standby wait times for the Star Wars simulator ride to be in the 20-30 minute range. But Toy Story Land’s Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster has always had at least an hour-long wait since its opening (and that’s on “low-crowd” days!). Slinky Dog Dash Now that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is fully operational, though, we’ve seen wait times for Millennium Falcon SOAR. They’re now right on par with Slinky Dog Dash, so a FastPass for Millennium Falcon makes a lot more sense now than it did before Rise of the Resistance came online! Hollywood Studios Digital Sign with Wait Times That brings us back to the ultimate question — which tier one Hollywood Studios attraction is the best use of your FastPass: Millenium Falcon or Smuggler’s Run? And the answer, in our opinion, is…it depends! In order to make the best decision for yourself and your family, let’s examine the following: Slinky Dog in Toy Story Land What Type of Rides Do You Prefer? Millennium Falcon and Slinky Dog Dash are two totally different experiences! Millennium Falcon is a dark, enclosed flight simulator with loud noises, lots of jostling, and some interactive features (yes, YOU get to be either a pilot, gunner, or engineer onboard the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!). Smugglers Run Queue Slinky Dog Dash, however, is an outdoor roller coaster (located in Andy’s backyard!) starring some of your favorite Toy Story friends! Both rides have great theming and are family-friendly, but for folks who don’t like confined spaces or being “shook up,” Slinky Dog Dash might be your best bet. Slinky Dog Dash! Vice versa, if members of your wolf pack are afraid of heights or roller coasters (even though Slinky Dog Dash is very tame and not particularly high up, compared to other Disney world coasters) consider opting for Millennium Falcon instead! Inside the Millennium Falcon Cockpit Take a look inside the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run! Which Attraction Have You Never Ridden Before? Is there one of these rides that you haven’t experienced yet? Then FastPass it! That way, even if you prefer to use your FastPasses on the other attraction next time, you’ll at least know what you’re missing! Haven’t ridden either of them? Our advice is to get to the park early and ride the attraction that you didn’t reserve a FastPass for FIRST. Besides, if you’re trying to snag a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance, then you’re probably already planning on being at Hollywood Studios when the park opens (or WAY earlier!). Rise of the Resistance If you wanna FastPass them both, try planning two days at Hollywood Studios instead of one! They don’t have to be full days if you have the Park hopper ticket option. Just be sure you’re comfortable “spending” your FastPasses in Hollywood Studios for two days, even if you plan to go to another park later. And if you haven’t gotten to check out Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge since it opened, giving yourself some extra time to explore would definitely be a good thing! Jet Juice at Oga’s Cantina Learn a bit more about Galaxy’s Edge HERE! Who Are You Traveling With? Alright, we know we just told you to pick the one you haven’t tried yet, but you know the people you live with better than we do! If the possibility of not riding one of these attractions would devastate some in your group, it’s probably not worth trying something new and jeopardizing your entire family vacation! Therefore, if you have diehard Star Wars peeps or Toy Story ride-or-dies in your traveling party, give ’em what their hearts desire MOST! Millennium Falcon And if your children are big enough to ride by themselves, you can always divide and conquer! You don’t have to be a certain age to ride Millennium Falcon or Slinky Dog Dash, but riders must be at least 38″ tall and guests under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a person 14 years of age or older to get on either attraction! Slinky Dog Dash in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Slinky Dog Dash Doesn’t Have a Single Rider Queue… But Millennium Falcon Does! If your party doesn’t mind splitting up, you may want to consider making your FastPasses for Slinky Dog Dash and utilizing Millennium Falcon’s single rider queue. If you don’t mind riding with strangers, this could be a great way to ride! Just remember, due to the way the jobs are handed out, single riders are more likely to assume the roles of the engineers, although it’s not unheard of for single riders to snag a coveted pilot or gunner seat! Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run So the choice is ultimately yours! We hope we gave you a few things to consider when making this tough decision! Of course, we could very well see the Hollywood Studios’ tiers shift again when Rise of the Resistance begins distributing FastPasses and/or when Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens on March 4th. Even though deciding between Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Slinky Dog Dash may seem difficult now, we have a feelin’ this is only the beginning of MORE tough choices to come! Thanks to the opening of Gran Destino Tower, there are now more dining options than ever at Disney’s Coronado Springs! Grand Destino Tower at Coronado Springs Today, we’re kicking it old school and headed to dine at an often overlooked Table Service spot that’s been serving up guests for years. We’re talking Rix Sports & Grill! This upscale-pub-meets-sports-bar boasts craft beers, American fare, and plenty of TVs for all your viewing needs. Rix Sports Bar and Grill The interior features simple tables and chairs throughout with open seating at the bar if you’re looking to get up close and personal to the big game! There’s also plenty of opportunities to watch your game throughout the establishment. Yay sports! Large television at the bar Let’s dig into the menu! Recent additions in terms of Appetizers include Sticky Ginger Ribs and a Giant Pretzel and Queso. Noticeably absent are the Lobster Sliders. Rix Sports Bar & Grill Menu Luckily, our beloved Watchos made the draft to the new menu. Watchos! Updates to the Entrees include the addition of Citrus Mahi, Lemon Pepper Chicken, and an Island Spice Mahi Sandwich, while The NY Strip has been removed. We also found an intriguing Adult Sundae on the Desserts menu (more on that later!). Rix Sports Bar & Grill Menu Update We started our meal as many do when visiting a sports bar…with a beer! We were happy to see that they brought back their own beer, Rix Red. As you could have probably guessed, this one is a Red Ale but definitely on the lighter side and made for a nice drinkable beer. Rix Red Of the new starters, we had to try the Giant Pretzel and Queso. This German-style Pretzel is insanely large, like we’re talking twice the size of our heads! It’s really good but definitely not as soft as the big pretzels that can be found in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion or Pongu Pongu in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We could have also used a tad bit more salt on this thing. Giant Pretzel and Queso The saving grace for this pretzel was the fantastic dipping sauces that accompanied it, Beer Lager Cheese Sauce and Chorizo Beer Cheese. Cheese Dip! While the Beer Lager Cheese Sauce does have some peppers in it, it was definitely on the mild side and what you’d expect from standard queso dip. The Chorizo Beer Cheese was the real stand out and featured small bits of chorizo in it. Chorizo Dip! Is this the best pretzel found on property? We don’t think so…BUT it’s big, sharable, and well priced at $13.00. Clearly, we weren’t stuffed from the pretzel alone! So, we decided to try the Adult Sundae! Priced at $9.00, we received a heaping pile of vanilla gelato, rum roasted pineapple (that’s where the ‘Adult’ comes in!), white chocolate macadamia cookies, pralines, whipped cream, strawberries, and caramel corn. Adult Sundae This was super tasty and a pretty substantial portion. The cookie on top was soft and yummy, basically everything you’d want in a cookie. Adult Sundae We loved the vanilla gelato although we thought there was a tad too much whipped cream, which made the search for the pineapple and strawberry a little difficult. The popcorn was a nice touch and added a welcome crunch to the dish. Adult Sundae All in all, we had a lovely meal in a welcoming atmosphere! We think this is a great hidden gem where you could kick back a few and enjoy a game. There are interesting and delicious options and the location is totally worth checking out if you’re staying at Coronado Springs.
