  6. For the last 40 years, Make-A-Wish has been working together with volunteers, donors and supporters to grant wishes to children diagnosed with serious illnesses. Many of these wishes come true with the help of a little Disney magic at Disney Parks all around the globe. Over the last 40 years, Disney has made over 140,000 of these wishes come true. Whether a wish kid was given an enchanting encounter with Cinderella at her castle or got to open the gates of Disneyland park, these special moments happen every single day and have touched so many hearts over the years. On Sunday night during the Super Bowl MVP Ceremony, we announced a $1,000,000 donation to Make-A-Wish to continue their important work, and for the first time ever a wish kid — Nathaniel, age 10, from Texas — joined the MVP during the MVP celebration at Walt Disney World. This is the beginning of a yearlong celebration of our 40-year relationship with Make-A-Wish. We got the chance to talk to the CEO of Make-A-Wish, Richard Davis, about what the relationship between Disney Parks and Make-A-Wish means to him. Make-A-Wish and Disney have been working together for so long, what do you think has made this relationship so successful? The Make-A-Wish and Disney partnership started with the first official wish in Make-A-Wish history. At 7-years-old, Frank “Bopsy” Salazar was battling leukemia and wished to visit Disneyland. In 1980, Make-A-Wish and Disney started working together to help grant a wish that would give Bopsy hope and joy during his most difficult moments. Through Bopsy’s wish, Disney became the first wish granter to join us in fulfilling life-changing wishes. Since then, Disney and Make-A-Wish have continued to work together to impact the lives of more than 140,000 children with critical illnesses. Disney has become such a prolific wish granter that today Disney is involved in one out of every two wishes granted by Make-A-Wish America. As the president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America, what does the strong partnership between Make-A-Wish and Disney mean to you? The Make-A-Wish and Disney alliance means that Disney embodies — through every action and decision tied to the partnership — the core values and principles of Make-A-Wish. The dedication to the mission is evident in the passion of cast members, including Disney leadership. When I joined Make-A-Wish as president and CEO last January, one of the first groups of people I met was the Make-A-Wish America Board of Directors. This group is filled with talented and passionate individuals with varying backgrounds and experience. Adding Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, to the Make-A-Wish board further added to that dynamic and brought a fresh new perspective. Disney is an invaluable partner of ours and along with Bob, so many Cast Members lend their time, talents and passion to the Make-A-Wish mission. The Make-A-Wish and Disney relationship is not just a great partnership — it’s personal for Bob and the rest of the Disney cast members who have helped grant wishes, whether they be in Disney Parks, on cruise ships or on studio sets. What makes wish granting in a Disney Park so special? At Make-A-Wish, we allow ordinary people the opportunity to become extraordinary when they discover there’s a role for them to play within a wish. Cast members at Disney Parks are ordinary people doing the extraordinary daily. Their commitment to customer service extends to the incredible care and compassion shown to wish kids, creating life-changing experiences throughout every child’s wish. They know that through the experience of a wish come true, a child has the chance to build the physical and emotional strength needed to fight a critical illness. Why do you think that wish granting at Disney Parks is such a popular choice for Make-A-Wish kids? Disney Parks encompass something both Make-A-Wish and Disney represent — hope and joy. When a child enters a Disney Park, they are whisked away to a world free from hospital stays and doctor visits, allowing them to experience undisturbed time with loved ones. The time spent in the parks gives children with critical illnesses the hope and joy needed today to confront and overcome the challenges of tomorrow. What is your personal favorite story about a wish that was granted at a Disney Park? Some of my favorite Make-A-Wish stories are the ones wish alumni continue to tell, years after they were granted. One of my favorites is Daniel’s story. Today, Daniel is 36 years old with a wife and two children. What you wouldn’t know about Daniel at first glance is that in 1991, at only 6 years old he was battling leukemia. I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel and his family last year, hearing first-hand how his wish provided him the strength he needed to fight, to get better — to grow up. Recently, Daniel and four other wish alumni – Libby, Ella, Reece and Violet – stories told by the Disney team in a special “Stays with You” video, demonstrating how wishes are so powerful, they stay with you for a lifetime. What are you most excited about when you think about the future of wish granting for Make-A-Wish? This year, we are celebrating the 40thanniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish in 1980. Big things are in the works for the coming months and we’re confident the best is yet to come for the organization. As I think about our future, I look forward to the day Make-A-Wish is closer to reaching all eligible children, because every child deserves a childhood. Over the next 40 years, and the 40 after that, we plan to continue to transform lives, one wish at a time. View the full article

  13. Ever dreamed of having your own personal photoshoot in front of Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle? ©Disney With the new “Capture Your Moment” experience Disney World is piloting, NOW YOU CAN! According to Disney, “Capture Your Moment lets you book time with a Disney PhotoPass photographer for a personalized photo session during regular park hours at Magic Kingdom Park to capture celebrations and milestones, such as a proposal, baby announcement, graduation, anniversary, family reunion, first visit, birthday, and more!” You will still be able to take free pics around Magic Kingdom with the help of a PhotoPass photographer, this is just a new option for a lengthier, more personal session! I ©Disney Each Capture Your Moment lasts up to 20 minutes and costs $50. If you need longer to feel natural in front of the camera, you can also book two Capture Your Moment sessions back-to-back for $100. During your extended 40 minute-photoshoot, you’ll have the option to visit at least two photo locations inside the Magic Kingdom with your professional Disney photographer! To us, 50 bucks doesn’t sound too shabby to have our own private photoshoot considering we spend that much easier on a sweatshirt or a meal at Disney World! ©Disney You can now call 407-939-7758 to book a Capture Your Moment session which will be available starting February 10th, 2020. Prints and digital downloads are not included with the price of you Capture Your Moment session and must be purchased separately. However, prints and downloads are no additional cost if you’ve paid for Memory Maker or have a qualifying Annual Passholder entitlement. So yeah, we’re not saying Capture Your Moment is cheap by any means, but it will definitely be awesome for folks celebrating special occasions! Some rules apply though — such as your party size cannot exceed 8 people, and wedding attire is not permissible (guess they don’t want you using this service as a substitute for an ACTUAL wedding photographer!). No word yet on whether or not Disneyland will be piloting a similar Photopass option, but we’ll keep you posted! What do you think of Capture Your Moment? Will you be using it? 22. We’ve been talking A LOT about glass slippers, pumpkin carriages, and fairy godmothers lately because of the new 70th anniversary Cinderella treats that have made their way to Disney World this week! Cinderella Castle And even though we’ve been muttering the phrase “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” in our sleep ever since all this Cindy madness started a few days ago, we’ve pulled together our ultimate ranking of every single Cinderella treat currently at Disney World! Which treat will be crowned the champion? You’ll just have to read all the way through to find out our Cinderella treat TOP PICK! Let’s start with our least-favorite… 8th (Last Place): Cinderella Cheesecake from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Oh Cinderella Cheesecake, we had such high hopes for you! I mean, look how pretty you are! But your cheesecake exterior had a weird, runny texture and that Nutella ganache filling was like a solid mass when we cut into it! Cinderella Cheesecake We wish we’d waited a few minutes to let this guy warm up a little before diving right in. That would have probably helped the Nutella soften up. We really feel like this could have been a top contender if the textures were a little better because the flavors were solid! Try the Cinderella Cheesecake for yourself for $5.49 from Caribbean Beach Club’s Centertown Market and see what you think! Cinderella Cheesecake Read our full review of the Cinderella Cheesecake HERE! 7th Place: Cinderella Cupcake from Disney’s Polynesian Resort At Kona Cafe, we found another Cinderella Cupcake for $5.99! This one features a yellow cake topped with vanilla buttercream, blueberry filling, sugar crystals, and a white chocolate glass slipper. We love how the sugar crystals reminded us of Cindy’s glass slipper and the cupcake tasted good, but otherwise, nothing special really stood out to us! Cinderella Cupcake Read our review of the Cinderella Cupcake from Disney’s Polynesian Resort HERE! 6th Place: Cinderella Cupcake from Disney’s Contemporary Resort We’ve seen SO MANY Cinderella Cupcakes march into Disney World this week! At Disney’s Contemporary Resort we discovered this version for $5.99 featuring a yellow cake filled with pumpkin custard, topped with buttercream, a white chocolate slipper, and a fondant pumpkin decoration. While we weren’t too away by the cupcake or icing, we ADORED the pumpkin filling! Cinderella Cupcake Read our review of the Cinderella Cupcake from Disney’s Contemporary Resort HERE! 5th Place: Cinderella Cupcake from Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort The Cinderella Cupcake at Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort was our favorite of the three! It’s a vanilla cake filled with marshmallow fluff which is topped with a mountain strawberry icing. We really felt like this one had the most unique flavors. Plus it came topped with a sparkly glass slipper which gave it a slight edge over the competition! Cinderella Cupcake Read our review of the Cinderella Cupcake at Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort HERE! 4th Place: Cinderella’s Carriage Cake Pop at Disney’s Grand Florian Resort We rolled into Gasparilla Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to try their Cinderella’s Carriage Cake Pop, and we weren’t disappointed! The triple chocolate cake in this cake pop is SUPER rich. While the cake is very moist and yummy, the white chocolate wheels add a nice crunch to balance it out! Plus, this thing is HUGE and only costs $8! Cinderella 70th Anniversary Cake Pop Check out our review of the Cinderella’s Carriage Cake Pop here! 3rd Place: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake is truly MAGICAL in terms of looks! It’s a citrus almond cake topped with a lemon-scented Bavarian mousse, filled with blueberry compote, and adorned with golden chocolate wheels. While we thought the flavors and looks were yummy, we found that there was much more jiggly mousse than cake, so it ended up not really being much of a cake at all. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake But diving into this thing is a beautiful transformative experience! The mousse had a subtle, delicate lemony taste and the blueberry compote was a big hit with us! We couldn’t stop staring at this thing either! It’s quite the head turner! We got the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake for $6.99 from the Main Street Bakery! Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake Check out our FULL REVIEW of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cake HERE! 2nd Place: Cinderella Ice Cream at Disney’s Polynesian Resort Pineapple Lanai is serving Cinderella Ice Cream, y’all! This beauty features vanilla ice cream, crispy chocolate pearls, and a white chocolate clock. It’s finished off with a little pixie dust…a.k.a. edible glitter! Totally worth the quick monorail ride to grab this little goody for $5.99! Cinderella 70th Anniversary Ice Cream! Read our FULL REVIEW of the Cinderella Ice Cream HERE! 1st Place (BIG WINNER!!!): Greedy Gus Gus Cupcake at Disney’s All-Stars Movies Resort Yesterday we fell in love with the new Greedy Gus Gus Cupcake. It features a rich, chocolatey cake topped with a chocolate buttercream frosting. Plus he’s stuffed with a marshmallow cream filling! Find him hanging around All-Stars Movies for $5.99! We ADORE the hat, the cheese, the ears, and the fact that this cupcake is SO different from the rest. Annnnd to top it all off, it’s totally delicious! It’s called Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu and it looks just like a children’s storybook! Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu The guide starts with Bina’s introduction! She’s been exploring the wildlife in Batuu for some time, so she knows all the places these creatures like to hide!
