  3. We can’t wait to check out the NEW Fantasy Springs Hotel located INSIDE Disney’s major theme park expansion: Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. ©Disney This stunning new resort is set to open on June 6th, 2024, and we’ve been keeping an eye out for all the announcements and details Disney has shared about it! And, it must be our lucky day because we just got a new look at the Fantasy Springs Hotel! Disney shared a NEW look at the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel. This park-integrated hotel is located right next to Fantasy Springs and it looks seriously incredible. It’s actually made up of two different hotels: the Grand Chateau and the Fantasy Chateau. ©Disney The interiors are inspired by Disney Princesses with flora and fauna with motifs themed to the port. There are also three dining experiences at the hotel: Fantasy Springs Restaurant, Grand Paradis Lounge, and La Libellule. This hotel opens on the same day as the Fantasy Springs park expansion: June 6th. ©Disney As we mentioned before, the Fantasy Springs Hotel is located INSIDE Fantasy Springs. Guests at this hotel get to go inside the theme park via their own exclusive entrance. ©Disney The Grand Chateau is “a luxury type,” and the Fantasy is “a deluxe type.” If you want to book the Fantasy Chateau, rooms start at 63,500 yen, which is $429.94 in USD. Grand Chateau rooms start at 300,000 yen, which is $2,031.23 USD. Depending on the room type and view that you book within each building, that price could be higher. ©Disney If you’re planning on staying at the Fantasy Springs Hotel, you can purchase the One-Day Passport: Fantasy Springs Magic to “enjoy Fantasy Springs to the fullest.” ©Disney Disney’s website says that “this ticket allows guests to enjoy the attractions at Fantasy Springs without specifying a time in advance, and with a reduced wait time.” ©Disney We’re keeping an eye out for all the latest news about Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea — and you might even catch us there when the park opens! 4. It is OFFICIALLY May! A brand-new month can mean a lot of different things at Disney World. Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs However, one of our favorite things that we get to find out at the beginning of each month is some of the limited-time food options you can find at a beloved Disney Springs spot. Yep, we’re talking about Gideon’s Bakehouse! Each month, a new roundup of specials arrive to Gideon’s, and now that it’s May, we have some new goodies! Alright, who’s ready to see those May offerings? Gideon’s shared on Facebook that May is all about PEANUT BUTTER. First up, you can get the Peanut Butter Cold Brew Cookie, which is a thick (almost half-poun) Peanut Butter Cookie laced with Freshly Ground Espresso and fully covered in chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces! Gideon’s said, “It should be overly sweet, but that Espresso Bean works to balance it all out for a unique and flavorful experience! This is available every day of May at both locations, with a limit of two per person.⁣ This is one of our favorite cookies to grab at Gideon’s, and we totally recommend it. The cookie in question! Next, here’s the Double Frosted Cake that has three layers of super soft Chocolate Cake with a full layer of our addicting Peanut Butter Buttercream and the shop’s Mocha Espresso Buttercream! Slices are available every Wednesday and Saturday this month at both shops with a limit of two per person. These slices of cake are HUGE and delicious. ©Gideon’s The Banana Nitro Cold Brew is also sticking around for another month at the Disney Springs location. ©Gideon’s Gideon’s said, “This is a special merch month, as the previous proprietor of our Disney Springs location reemerges in a different world. Jonathan Lindwurm returns on this month’s collectible menu and these lovely merch items! Menus are handed out to everyone in line at Gideon’s in Disney Springs and with each online merch order placed in May.⁣” ©Gideon’s There is still more to come from them this month, so keep checking in with us at DFB for the latest. 5 Disney World Snack HACKS $5 Or Less! 5. Disneyland Resort has seen a ton of changes lately! Disney California Adventure In 2023, a newly updated ToonTown reopened, Tarzan’s Treehouse became Adventureland Treehouse, Haunted Mansion closed to get an updated queue area, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening later this year! But, something new has popped up at Disney California Adventure too — come check it out with us! A while back, we learned that Disney was installing a new type of turnstile at the Disney California Adventure entrance gates. The new turnstiles are automated to open after a Cast Member scans and validates a theme park ticket. Not only that, but the update has expanded the amount of available turnstiles and gates — and will also make them both stroller and ADA-compliant. Disney California Adventure We had previously seen the new turnstiles — but they weren’t in action quite yet, though we knew that Disney was testing them. New turnstiles But, we got to check out the new gates for ourselves on a recent visit! They feature a screen with a barcode scanner below, as well as a MagicBand+ tap point. Disney also removed the physical turnstiles from between the ticket scanners. It’s the end of an era! New turnstiles! The new system still has some things to work out, though. Our reporter said that before getting to the new gate, a Cast Member scanned his pass on his phone, and then he walked up and scanned his ticket from his phone under the screen. It’s supposed to take your photo and let you in, but it didn’t work and the Cast Member just ended up scanning his ticket again without the machine. Shortly after, Cast Members appeared to close the new entrances and reboot them. Both sets of new turnstiles were functioning again not too long after we scanned through. New turnstile Hopefully, once the kinks are worked out, the new turnstiles will make entering Disney California Adventure a bit faster, easier, and more user-friendly! Stay tuned to DFB as we bring you the latest news from Disney California Adventure, Disneyland, and more! 6. Knowing a thing or two about Disney World food is essentially my whole job. Okay, there’s more to it than that — but let’s just say the “research” part of it — trying new snacks — is my favorite part. Disney World But, when it comes to Magic Kingdom, it can be hard to figure out which snacks are worth your time and which ones are best left alone. Luckily, you have a new food editor best friend — and I’m telling you exactly what you should always eat in Magic Kingdom. I hope you’ve already eaten, because you’re going to be incredibly hungry after reading this — don’t say I didn’t warn you. There’s a reason these are on my must-eat list for Magic Kingdom! Fresh Fruit OR Spicy Chicken Waffle I am here to sing the praises of not one, but two different waffles. The Nutella & Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich or the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square. The Nutella version is a classic Belgian waffle topped with a slather of rich, chocolatey Nutella and then smothered with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and banana. Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich If you’re looking for a more savory and sweet sandwich, try the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich. This sandwich is a deep-fried battered chicken breast ladled with some tasty sweet-and-spicy sauce. It is topped with a crunchy, tangy slaw and placed in a golden waffle. It’s the perfect combination of spicy and sweet, and it’s not too spicy either! Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich You may find that the fresh fruit waffle is only available at breakfast on occasion (so before 11AM) but we’ve seen it available all day lately! And, let’s be honest — who doesn’t want to eat waffles all day long? Cheeseburger Spring Rolls I will wait in an absurdly long line for Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, which are meaty, cheesy spring rolls that taste like a fast food cheeseburger, but surrounded by a golden, crispy shell instead of a bun. Usually, the Spring Roll Cart will offer Cheeseburger Spring Rolls along with one other specialty spring roll. Cheeseburger Spring Roll The specialty flavors tend to rotate, but they’ve had ones like Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Spring Rolls, Reuben Spring Rolls, Pepperoni Pizza Spring Rolls, and Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls. You get two spring rolls with your order, so you can get two of the same or one of each. They’re the perfect savory snack for when you want something delicious on the go! Corn Dog Nuggets OR Hand-Dipped Corn Dog Want to take your snack on the go? Look no further than Corn Dog Nuggies at Casey’s Corner. I’m not going to lie — I am extremely passionate about corn dogs so this suggestion may be biased. You get a little basket full of these fried, golden, delicious mini corn dogs that are perfectly poppable. Oh, and if you don’t order a side of plastic cheese for dipping — you are absolutely doing it wrong. Have you ever seen something so beautiful? Here’s the thing, though. The Hand-dipped Corn Dog over at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is a literal work of art. This bad boy means business and has the heft to prove it, so it isn’t for the faint of heart! But, the freshly fried, hand-dipped dog is what (my) dreams are made of. She’s lovely. Thank you for visiting Sam’s Corn Dog Corner. Dole Whip Let’s be real, here — it’s not a roundup of Magic Kingdom snacks without mentioning Dole Whip at Aloha Isle in Adventureland, right? Dole Whip has become a super popular Disney World snack and now you can find a version of it in all of the parks and even a dedicated spot, Swirls on the Water, in Disney Springs. Pineapple Dole Whip You can snag the original pineapple flavor, but they also serve vanilla and coconut flavors here too! And, if you’re looking for something extra fancy — grab the Tropical Serenade. It’s coconut Dole Whip swirled into a cup of the Disney-famous POG Juice (which is Passionfruit, Orange, and Guava) with an upside-down pineapple cake pop! Cheshire Cat Tail Looking for something sweet? The Cheshire Cat Tail at Cheshire Cafe in Fantasyland might be just the thing. This is basically a Chocolate Danish Twist dressed up with drizzles of pink and purple icing to resemble the mysterious and charming Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. The Cheshire Cat Tail is an iconic Magic Kingdom snack It’s simple, but sometimes that’s just what you need. I love grabbing a Cheshire Cat Tail and cold brew coffee for a quick and light breakfast when I’m in Magic Kingdom! It’s not too heavy for a day of walking around and riding rides! Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Tots The Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Tots at The Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland is a generous serving of super creamy mac and cheese topped with bacon and sour cream and garnished with green onions. Oh yeah — and tater tots. This is the opposite of a light snack but sometimes that’s exactly what you need! Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Tots at The Friar’s Nook If you’re not feeling the tots (I have one question: what is wrong with you?) you can order just the Creamy Bacon Macaroni and Cheese on its own, too. It’s just as good, but come on. Potatoes! You can boil ’em, mash ’em, stick ’em in a stew. No? Must be a Sam thing. Warm Cinnamon Roll If you’re looking for a tasty and filling breakfast, try the Warm Cinnamon Roll, but honestly, this cinnamon roll is too good to restrict to just one meal. This thing is HUGE and definitely shareable. It can definitely be dry at times, so asking for extra icing on the side is essential — and that’s coming from someone who is typically icing-averse. Is this the best cinnamon roll in Disney World? And, the icing on this cinnamon roll is what really sets it apart from other cinnamon rolls. The thick and creamy icing has a hint of maple flavor, which really compliments the cinnamon flavor. It makes for a great snack or dessert! Peanut Butter Cookie Pie I’m a peanut butter lover, so anytime there’s a dessert with peanut butter on the menu — it’s a pretty safe bet I’ll be ordering it. The Peanut Butter Cookie Pie from Main Street Confectionery is perfect because it’s not too sweet. This huge, soft, thick peanut butter cookie is topped with chocolate frosting. “But Sam, you said you didn’t like icing!” I know, I know. Hello Beautiful The chocolate frosting here serves an incredibly important purpose — as mortar for the Peanut M&Ms sprinkled on top! There’s also a bunch of peanut butter chips baked throughout the cookie base, which adds some nice texture and even MORE peanut butter flavor. Okay, now I’m drooling. At the end of the day, everyone has different tastes, but if you don’t agree with mine then you’re probably wrong. Kidding, of course! 13. Magic Kingdom is FULL of magical moments (well, dur, it is called MAGIC Kingdom for a reason). Cinderella Castle From being able to meet some of your favorite Disney characters, to riding classic Disney rides, to getting pixie dusted (literally, if you want), being in Magic Kingdom is like living in a fairy tale. No wonder why we love it so much! However, there is something you can do to make your Magic Kingdom experience even MORE, well, magical, and we’re going to tell you all about it. We’re sure if you’ve been to Magic Kingdom, you’ve watched the Happily Ever After fireworks from Main Street, U.S.A. But the next time you’re in Disney World, here’s what you need to do instead. Instead of heading to Main Street to see the fireworks, go behind Cinderella Castle in Fantasyland. You’ll want to be near Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel Why would you want to do this? First, you’ll get a super unique view of the fireworks — and that’s always fun, right? But…if you’re lucky, you may get a surprise of ROYAL proportions. Sometimes, the princesses come out of Princess Fairytale Hall during the fireworks and hang out in that area for magical moments with kids (and adults, too!). This is such a unique way to see the fireworks, as well as see characters during the show. Ariel meeting in Fairytale Hall So we do have to warn you that this isn’t guaranteed to happen every night, and it’s not something you’ll find listed on the My Disney Experience app. It’s sort of one of those “if you know, you know” kind of things. So it may NOT happen, but it very well MAY happen and you’ll end up with a little extra magic to end your evening in Magic Kingdom. However, if you MUST meet the princesses and don’t want to take your chances, you can always visit them at Princess Fairytale Hall during the day. You can also book a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table to get more quality time with the princesses in Magic Kingdom. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 17. Things are really getting EPIC at Universal Orlando. ©Universal Thanks to the general amount of time it takes to build a theme park combined with massive COVID-related construction delays, it can sometimes feel like an eternity since Universal officially announced Epic Universe back in 2019. However, as Epic Universe’s 2025 opening draws nearer, those years of concept art and construction rumors are giving way to real photos of the in-depth lands and massive rides coming to the revolutionary new theme park. At opening, Epic Universe is going to be broken down into five initial lands – or “Portals” in Universal’s parlance for the park – with the central Celestial Park surrounded by Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon Isle of Berk. So far, we’ve seen various images and tidbits from each. The more images we see of Epic Universe, the more excited we’re getting for this brand-new theme park to finally open in 2025! Stay tuned to DFB for more exciting Epic Universe updates. 19. This celebrity might have just had the “best night of their life” at Disneyland. Sleeping Beauty Castle Celebrities and major figures visiting Disneyland have been baked into the park’s DNA since its earliest days, when everyone from actors to world leaders would visit the park, often hosted by Walt himself. Fast forward to today’s social media world when famous visitors to the park often document their trip for the world to see. Such was the case for a major music star recently. International superstar Bebe Rexha – best known for hits including “I’m Good (Blue)” (with David Guetta), “Hey Mama” (with David Guetta, Nicki Minaj and Afrojack), “Me, Myself & I” (with G-Eazy), “In the Name of Love” (with Martin Garrix), and “Meant to Be” (featuring Florida Georgia Line) – recently took to Instagram to share some snaps of a trip to the Disneyland Resort. @beberexha Instagram In addition to the above snap of herself in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, Rexha also shared additional images throughout the post’s slides, including what appears to be a family photo in front of the castle… @beberexha Instagram … a selfie with a tour guide… @beberexha Instagram … and the iconic “Here you leave today…” sign. @beberexha Instagram Rexha, who ended the post with a video professing her love for Mickey and captioned it “Disneyland is always a dream” certainly seemed to be “feeling alright” her her visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. 20. For many, a stay at a Disney World deluxe resort is the ultimate dream vacation, but is it perfect? Contemporary Resort! We’ll be the first to tell you that these hotels boast stunning theming, luxurious amenities, and their locations are just prime, but is it all sunshine and rainbows? Well, we know about one “perk” of being associated with some of these rooms that’s causing quite a stir among Disney fans. Let’s talk about it! If you weren’t able to guess it earlier, we’re talking about an unintended consequence of staying in some of the rooms at any of the Magic Kingdom Monorail Resorts — Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The issue we’ve been hinting at is a lack of privacy. Contemporary Resort Let’s imagine this scenario: You’ve splurged on a room with a balcony at the Polynesian Village Resort. You step outside to enjoy the view, only to be greeted by the curious stares of monorail passengers gliding by. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Or perhaps you’ve booked a Grand Floridian room only to find out that it’s overlooking the monorail track. Grand Floridian and Monorail We haven’t even yet mentioned the Contemporary Resort where the monorail cuts right through the middle! Disney’s Contemporary Resort While you can’t argue the convenience, the constant traffic might not be your idea of tranquility. This clashes directly with perhaps the biggest perk of staying in one of these resorts — the close proximity to Magic Kingdom. So, on the one hand, you have the pleasure of staying in a deluxe resort only a stone’s throw from Main Street, U.S.A., and on the other hand, you have a constant stream of traffic flowing by your room. Speaking of “flowing,” we’ve yet to mention the ferryboats that pass by constantly. Ferryboat As you can imagine, the guests paying the premium for staying at these resorts are divided on if the intrusiveness justifies the high cost. Another thing to note is that you’re prone to feeling the Fishbowl Effect when people can just look right into your room from the monorail or ferryboat. Ferryboat, anyone? Now if you’re truly going to be bothered by being in a room within the sightlines of the monorail or ferrboat, we suggest making a room request in advance. You can do this in a couple of ways: The simplest way is to go through the online check-in process on the My Disney Experience app up to 60 days before check-in. If you would rather speak with someone in person about your request, we suggest calling the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations Hotline — (407) 934-7639. Again, doing this in advance will give Disney a better chance at accommodating your request. Overall, is staying in one of these resorts a perk or pitfall? Well, it depends on your priorities — convenience vs seclusion. We’ll let you decide. Until then, stay tuned to DFB for more Disney hotel tips. 22. We’re constantly keeping track of the latest menu changes and updates happening all across Disney World. We’ve even dined at some pretty bougie places and tried some weird dishes (all in the name of research) to bring you the most updated information about what’s going on with Disney World and its food offerings. Mexico Pavilion We recently ran across a menu change in EPCOT that totally took us by surprise, so of course we had to share it with you! If you’ve ever made plans for a good meal while visiting EPCOT, chances are La Hacienda de San Angel has probably made your shortlist at the very least. It’s a great place to dine with an authentic Mexican vibe, a wonderful menu (and the occasional seasonal offering), and an incredible view of the World Showcase lagoon (that’s even more beautiful if you experience your meal during the nightly fireworks). La Hacienda de San Angel But, while we were checking up on the latest changes and updates that Disney World likes to frequently make to their menus, we came across a pretty expensive entree added here. La Hacienda de San Angel now offers a Tomahawk Steak as one of their specialty entree options you can order for a whopping *wait for it…* $120! We almost couldn’t believe our eyes when we spotted it. ©Disney We’ve seen at a few Disney World restaurants who drop a Tomahawk Steak into the menu offerings they’re more expensive because they’re portioned out to be shared between 2 people. Since this particular meal comes with such a hefty price tag, and a few sides from the description to help round out the meal, we’re hoping that’s the case for this dish. We’re constantly looking out for the latest menu changes and updates happening around Disney World so be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for them all! 24. Disney World hotel pools are some of the amenities guests love most about staying on property. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Often they’re themed immaculately to match the rest of the resort, and there’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the water. However, there’s one issue with the pools that is a little awkward, so no one really wants to discuss it…which means we’re about to talk about it in full detail, so buckle up! So the pool itself is great! You and/or your kids are having a great time playing, and then it comes time to get out, dry off, and head back to your room. Here’s where the problem lies: the towels. Pool Towels Have you ever noticed how TINY Disney World hotel towels are? For small children, they’re totally fine, but for anyone 14+ who’s hit a growth spurt? Yeah, they’re not doing much! Yes, you’re wearing bathing suits, but you’d still prefer to be covered…EVERYWHERE, right?! Pool Towels Granted, there’s nothing really stopping you from grabbing more than one towel from the Pool Towel stand, but you also don’t want to be wasteful. So what do you do in this situation? We have a few suggestions! Bring towels from home! This is easier if you’re driving to Disney World since you may not want to take up room in your suitcase if you’re flying. This way, you know you’re using towels you like and know are large enough. Dry off as much as you can AT the pool before heading back to your hotel room. This way you’re not dripping all over the hotel (which is a major slipping hazard) Bring a towel from your hotel room. Often these towels are at least a little larger, and you can just reuse it (for the pool only) each time you head down there, meaning less waste. Caribbean Beach Resort Pool Don’t forget to bring sunscreen with you to reapply while you’re swimming — that sun is brutal! We’re always here to bring you the latest Disney World tips, tricks, and everything in between, so stay tuned to DFB! According to our readers, THESE are the best Disney World hotel pools!
