  2. EPCOT is known for a lot of things. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Eating and drinking around the world and the World Showcase, in general, are two big things, but when we say EPCOT you also might think of one of the most popular rides in Disney World right now — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. We ADORE this ride, but think some of the song choices could be refreshed just a little bit. We asked our readers on Facebook what they thought, and we fully support these suggestions! The song we saw recommended the most was easily “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone! This song can be heard in the opening credit sequence of the first Guardians of the Galaxy film where Peter Quill (aka Starlord) dances around with his trusted walkman. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind We also heard a lot of love for “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra, which can be heard in the opening credits of the second Guardians of the Galaxy film, where baby Groot dances around while the rest of the Guardians battle The Abilisk. ©Marvel Many readers also suggested “Will It Go Round In Circles” by Billy Preston because of the way the ride moves! If you haven’t ridden it, it’s mainly a screen-based ride with a ride vehicle that can move around in a circle (or really, half circle) while you move around the track. For those sensitive to motion sickness, it may be a little rough, just a heads up! ©Marvel | Disney We were SO hoping to see this one on here and you all didn’t disappoint! We also firmly believe that “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen should be an option. It matches perfectly with the mission of the Guardians, too, because even if it seems impossible, they’ll try it anyway! Rocket and Groot in Disney World Speaking of Queen, we also think “Dancing Queen” deserves a spot on this ride! It’s such a classic, and we totally think Peter Quill would be jamming out to it without an ounce of shame. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind And lastly, we have the the iconic hit — “Take On Me” by aha! Come on, just imagine saving the galaxy with the Guardians to this song! Epic, right? Inside Guardians of the Galaxy: Coxmic Rewind Don’t get us wrong, we love the current songs, which include: “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears “Conga” by Gloria Estefan “I ran (so far away)” by a Flock of Seagulls “Disco Inferno” by the Trammps “One Way or Another” by Blondie “September” by Earth Wind and Fire They’re super solid choices, but we think switching out the songs every now and then would bring a new level of excitement to an already thrilling ride. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind We’ll continue to ride Cosmic Rewind regardless, but if the songs change, we’ll be sure to let you know ASAP, so stay tuned to DFB! 3. Disney World certainly has some great dining at its parks and hotels. Welcome to Disney Springs! However, you can find even more amazing dining in Disney Springs, including several restaurants owned by celebrity chefs. However, we’re not going to concern ourselves with those restaurants right now because we’re here to help you dine on a budget by telling you about the cheapest meal we’ve had in Disney Springs and what’s so great about it. If you’re thinking about Disney Springs dining on a budget, we bet your first thought is Earl of Sandwich, because it’s a great place to get an inexpensive meal that’s consistently good. So that’s exactly where we’re heading with this. Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs Now, we’re going to tell you all about one of our favorite sandwiches there, The Cuban Sandwich (which used to be seasonal, but it seems to be on the menu full-time now). For $8.99, you get a sandwich made with Tender carnitas, ham, Swiss, pickles, and Cuban mustard sauce. Cuban Sandwich As we previously said, the sandwiches here are consistently good, and this one is no different. It’s got some wonderful tender meat inside and we loved the crisp crunch of the pickles. It’s SO loaded with flavor. The textures are great, too, thanks to the crunchy crust on the bread with the soft bite, tender meat, and…OF COURSE…the melty cheese. CHEEESEEEEE. SO good It’s a pretty standard Cuban sandwich, but at under $9, you’re getting a delicious inexpensive meal…in Disney World! It’s worth every penny because you get a LOT of meat — and pickles (yes, we love pickles and we know not everyone does). This sandwich is pretty filling, too! Inside the Cuban Sandwich So if you find yourself in Disney Springs and want a quick and cheap meal, head on over to Earl of Sandwich. You’ll find a great selection of other sandwiches, if the Cuban isn’t your thing, at really good price points. Stay tuned to DFB for more! With DOZENS of places to eat at Disney World, we know it can be tough to plan your meals. That’s why we wrote the DFB Guide to Dining at Walt Disney World. 4. We were recently able to get a special glimpse inside Walt Disney’s very own office! Walt Disney’s preserved private desk. Even though Walt Disney passed away back in December of 1966, his private office has been lovingly restored and maintained by the dutiful staff of the Walt DisneyArchives. Each detail has been meticulously maintained to achieve historical accuracy, ands give a glimpse into how Walt and his original Imagineers worked during the early golden age of Disney park development. Walt’s Secretary’s Office Despite what the name implies, Walt Disney’s office isn’t just a single room, but rather a group of three large spaces making up an office suite. Walt’s secretary’s desk. The first is Walt’s secretary’s office, which served both as a buffer room for anyone trying to reach Walt’s inner sanctum, as well as a display of many of the trophies and awards Walt and his studio earned through the years. Trophy Case Some of these specific awards include: An industry award An amusement park industry award… Snow White Oscar …the famous honor Oscar statuette set Walt received for Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs… Disneyland Award …a 10 Years of Service to Disneyland award presented to Walt… Lincoln’s hand …a cast of Abraham Lincoln (Walt’s boyhood hero)’s hand… Olympic Torch …an Olympic Torch from the 1960 Winter Games, which Walt helped plan… Walt’s Presidential Medal of Freedom …and even Walt Disney’s Presidential Medal of Freedom. Walt’s Actual Office Walt’s office itself features a layout of furniture one would expect from a high powered 1960s executive, as well as a bevy of books, personal trinkets, and family mementos. Walt’s desk Walt’s desk was surrounded by seemingly hundreds of items and hangings that had personal meaning to him. These include: The Disney children Photos of the Disney children… Trinkets and treasures …and countless treasures accumulated throughout his career. The most prominent item in the room besides Walt’s desk is a massive piano. According to Disney lore, Walt would have the legendary Sherman Brothers serenade him using the instrument with songs including “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins. Walt’s piano Flanking the piano is a massive bookshelf featuring boos that inspired Walt and his Imagineers, as well as more collectible pieces from Walt’s career. Walt’s bookcase Brainstorming Room The office suite also featured an amenity-stocked brainstorming room where Walt and his Imagineers would gather to plan and sketch out future plans. The brainstorming desk… The Disney archives team has littered the space with numerous artifacts that will be instantly recognizable to Disney aficionados, and set the scene for how Walt and the imagineers developed their ideas. These include: The Florida Project A planning manual for the “Florida Project”, which would eventually become Walt Disney World… Florida Project site plan …and the the original site plan for the “Florida Project.” Disneyland brainstorming The room also features this massive overhead photo of Disneyland, circa Walt’s lifetime, along with affixed planning notes. Notes Brainstorming kitchen This “brainstorming room” also came complete with a kitchen, which the archives team keeps stacks with the types of foods Walt and his team would have enjoyed during long planning sessions. Finally, there are other small personal reminders of Walt scattered through the room. These include: Marceline A pamphlet celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Marceline, Missouri, a town Walt lived in during his boyhood which is widely credited with inspiring elements of Disneyland… Notebook …and even a personalized notepad. Keeping Walt Disney’s office preserved is an important part of the Disney Archives overall mission to preserve the company’s past for future generations. 9. Disney World food is changing ALL the time, but sometimes it can be tough to swallow (no pun intended). Flame Tree Barbecue Don’t get us wrong — we LOVE when Disney World adds new menu items or seasonal snacks. But sometimes Disney World removes some of our favorite snacks or changes up our favorites in ways that cause us concern. Well, one of our favorite meals in Disney World recently went through a HUGE change, and we’re still trying to decide how we feel about it. One of our ALL-time favorite snacks (okay, well, it’s really a meal) is the Baked Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork from Flame Tree Barbecue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s a plate full of baked mac and cheese with delicious barbecue pork topped with onion rings and cole slaw. It’s like all of our favorite things in one dish. What it used to be… Well, something BIG has changed about this item — the onion rings are now GONE! There are no more onion rings on this dish. Instead, Disney has just thrown some fried onions on top. Seriously, though, THAT IS NOT THE SAME THING. No more onion rings Okay, okay, we’re being a bit dramatic, we know, because we loved those onion rings, but the heart of this snack was always the creamy mac and cheese and the barbecued pork, so we’re happy to report those flavors STILL deliver. The crispy onions, along with the cole slaw, also add some nice texture. These basic fried onions (which are NOT onion rings), though, don’t add much flavor. It’s still tasty, though So what we’re saying is, if you loved those onion rings, this could disappoint you. Otherwise, it’s still a solid snack that’s rich and juicy, and yes, it’s still delicious. But it can be tough to deal with when Disney messes with something that did not need messing with, so there’s that. If you want to try this new version of the Mac and Cheese yourself, it’s available now for $12.49. There’s plenty of it and like we said, this is really more meal than snack, so it’s a good value, too. The NEW Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? You’ll want to be very careful looking at the sun on April 8th. ©NASA A solar eclipse will be blazing a trail along Earth’s surface, and if you’re in the predicted path, you’ll get to see a very amazing site (with special glasses, of course). But there is one “eclipse” you are going to wanna look at, and it’s happening over in Disney Springs! Over at Everglazed at the West Side of Disney Springs, you can find an Eclipsed by Chocolate Donut. Yep, that’s right, a fancy chocolate donut specially made for this historic event is being offered. It’s a chocolate lovers dream! Everglazed This is no ordinary chocolate donut. It is a “bismark donut that is chocolate glazed and topped with chocolate buttercream, an Oreo cookie, and an outer glow of lunar sprinkles.” Oh don’t worry, it looks as good as it sounds. ©Everglazed Since this specialty donut is only here for the special event, you’ll only be able to find it at Everglazed for a limited time. You can pick it up now until April 8th. The donut shop assures that it’s “out of this world good.” We don’t know about you, but we’re ready to hop over to Disney Springs to get our hands on one. Even after April 8th, Everglazed offers wonderful donuts, so if you don’t make it for the Eclipse donut, be sure to stop by for one of their other options! 11. Is it time for a trip to Mickey D’s? McDonald’s Yes, we love going to McDonald’s, even when we’re going to Disney World every day. What can we say? Sometimes we just want to check out the latest Happy Meal, or we’re craving those Chicken McNuggets — or even a Krispy Kreme donut. It seems like McDonald’s is adding new menu items all the time, and we’ve got four NEW foods to tell you about. We’ll just warn you now, though, that these new items are only available at McDonald’s locations in Canada. SO NOT FAIR. Especially when you see what you can get. First, there’s a Chicken Cheeseburger and it’s exactly what you think it is: a cheeseburger with seasoned chicken on it. The best of both worlds? Maybe! So you’ve got a crispy chicken patty made with Canadian-raised seasoned chicken and a 100% Canadian beef patty topped with a slice of melted cheddar cheese, a pickle, onions, ketchup, and mustard on a toasted bun. ©McDonald’s You can also now get a Sweet Chili Junior Chicken made with Canadian-raised crispy seasoned chicken, topped with shredded lettuce, sweet chili sauce, and mayo-style sauce, on a toasty bun. Okay, that sounds REALLY good, too. ©McDonald’s This might be a little over the top, but we are HERE for it. It’s the Surf ‘N Turf Burger, made with two 100% Canadian beef patties AND a crispy Filet-O-Fish patty made with 100% Alaska Pollock, topped with two slices of Cheddar cheese, tangy pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard on a toasty bun. That is SO much, and yet…we WANT IT. ©McDonald’s In addition to these three sandwiches, there’s a new dessert, too, the Apple Pie McFlurry. Y’all, get this — it’s made with pieces of McDonald’s Baked Apple Pie and Vanilla Soft Serve swirled with caramel sauce. We need this to become available EVERYWHERE, McDonald’s, please? ©McDonald’s If you haven’t figured it out yet, the idea is “remix,” so McDonald’s has remixed some of its popular items to create new ones. SO fun. If you happen to live in Canada, head on over to your local McDonald’s and get in on these tasty remixes. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 12. We’ve got some sad news from Downtown Disney in Disneyland Resort — another closure is taking place. Downtown Disney entrance In March, it was announced that Tortilla Jo’s would be closing forever, but then they extended their closure date by a week. However, that week has come to an end, and the restaurant will close permanently on April 8th. Tortilla Jo’s was home to some truly amazing tableside guacamole, so we’re sad to see it go. Tortilla Jo’s at Downtown Disney The restaurant will be available on the Disneyland App for reservations throughout the day, and the walk-up waitlist will also be available. However, after today, the restaurant will officially close. Taqueria at Tortilla Jo’s So why is this delicious Mexican restaurant going away? Well, Downtown Disney will be getting 3 NEW Mexican restaurants called Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita created by Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán. Paseo We know that all three will be located on the west side of Downtown Disney, and that Tiendita will be a quick service restaurant, Paseo will be a table service restaurant, and Céntrico will be a courtyard bar and restaurant with “high-end Mexican-inspired small plate menu” along with “tequila-based cocktails.” ©Disney So far the opening timeline for Paseo and Céntrico is Spring 2024, but we don’t have a solid opening for Tiendita just yet. 14. Planning a Disney World trip isn’t always easy! Cinderella Castle You’ve got to figure out when to go, where to stay, what to eat, and worst of all — if there are any unexpected changes you need to worry about. Luckily, we do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to that, which is why we’re reminding you of this Magic Kingdom parade change! As of April 7th, the Festival of Fantasy parade in Magic Kingdom has changed times! The parade, which features Mickey, Minnie, Disney Princesses, and more, was previously offered twice a day — noon and 3PM. Festival of Fantasy But now, this parade is only available once a day at 3PM. So, if you’re hoping to catch this parade, you’ll only have one chance on your park day to do so. Try to make sure you’re in the park and in position along the route to catch all your favorite Disney fantasy characters if you don’t want to miss it! Ariel in the Festival of Fantasy parade Keep in mind that you can book a special viewing area through Genie+ with a Lightning Lane. But, if you don’t want to pay for Genie+, the parade runs from Frontierland all the way down Main Street, U.S.A. Show up early and grab a spot to watch the show! 15. There are some big things happening this summer in Disney World. Monorail at the Contemporary Resort A lot is going on, including a brand new ride opening in Magic Kingdom with another attraction reopening with a brand new show! We’ve also got a long-awaited reopening of a restaurant coming up. This is why we think summer 2024 is going to be busier in Disney World than normal. However, we also think things are going to be different this summer at Disney World hotels, and we’re going to tell you why. Skyliner hotels Normally, everyone seems to love staying at a Skyliner hotel because it’s such a convenient method of transportation, especially if you plan on visiting EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. However, the Skyliner does not go to Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom, and it’s the latter that might be the reason folks aren’t booking Skyliner hotels. Skyliner at Caribbean Beach Resort Why? Well, with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the reopening of Country Bear Jamboree happening this summer, we think many Disney World visitors might want to be closer to Magic Kingdom so they can easily rope drop those two attractions. We expect Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to be VERY popular when it opens this summer, so rope drop could be the best way to grab a ride on it, especially if the virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lanes go quickly. That means you may want to reconsider a stay at Pop Century, Art of Animation, Riviera Resort, or the Caribbean Beach Resort. I Was a Disney World Cast Member. Here Are 3 Hotels I’ll NEVER Go Back To Hotels that are too far away from Magic Kingdom For the very same reason, we think Disney World visitors might also choose not to book hotels that are just too far away from Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingdom Lodge may be one of the most beautiful hotels on property, but that bus to and from Magic Kingdom takes FOREVER. Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful, but so far away This is also the case with the Disney Springs hotels, like Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. The Amazing, FREE Things You’re Not Taking Advantage of at Disney World Hotels Hotels not on the Monorail Let’s face it, if you want to stay close to Magic Kingdom, your best bet is to book one of the three hotels on Disney’s Monorail. That means if the hotel is NOT the Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, or Contemporary Resorts, it may get overlooked this summer. Monorail at Grand Floridian Yes, these hotels are pricier, as they are all deluxe resorts, but they’ll put you just a quick Monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom, and that means you can get to rope drop easier and faster to experience those new attractions. 7 Awesome Snacks Are Just a Monorail Ride Away from Magic Kingdom Hotels with only one transportation option Some Disney World hotels only have one transportation option: Disney buses. Although the buses are very reliable, just relying on the buses alone can be frustrating. That’s why resorts with Skyliner and Monorail access are often very popular, and although we think Skyliner hotels won’t be AS popular this summer, we still think they’ll be a good option for those who don’t want to pay the $$$ for a deluxe stay at a Monorail resort. Plus you’ll have both a bus and Skyliner option for getting around Disney World. Disney bus to Magic Kingdom There’s also another option, though. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has boats that go to Magic Kingdom, offering another way to get to what will probably be Disney World’s most popular park this summer. So some folks might choose to stay there instead. Disney Adults Are FIGHTING Over This Hotel DEBATE We know this summer is going to be different, especially when it comes to the hotels Disney World visitors choose, so we’ll be curious to see what kind of hotel trends we see once summer begins. 16. Disney’s streaming services have undergone some HUGE changes recently. ©Disney For example, you can now stream Hulu on Disney+. Disney has also started warning customers about sharing passwords, promising it had plans to crack down on account sharing soon. Language about account sharing has also appeared in the terms of service for both Disney+ and Hulu. Well, now we know when Disney will start officially canceling accounts it thinks are being shared. In the U.S., Disney began cracking down on password sharing in March 2024. However, during The Walt Disney Company’s recent shareholders meeting, CEO Bob Iger said the process would officially begin in June 2024 in “a few markets,” although he didn’t mention which markets would be the first, but it’s likely it includes the U.S. ©Disney Iger also said the program to limit account sharing will have a larger rollout in September 2024, at which time those who get caught sharing their accounts and passwords could risk having their subscriptions abruptly canceled. This also applies to Hulu and ESPN+, as well as any bundles that current subscribers might have. ©Disney Disney isn’t the first streaming service to limit accounts like this. Netflix started cracking down on account sharing in early 2023. During the company’s Q1 2024 earnings call, Disney revealed that it is working on a paid option for subscribers to add on to their accounts that will allow account sharing outside the household, similar to what Netflix currently does for adding extra members to an account. 17. Disneyland fans, we’ve got some amazing news for you! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge April 5th marked the beginning of the Season of the Force! This special Star Wars season runs through June 2nd and celebrates the mega-popular franchise and all of us fans. Over in Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, the celebration is just starting with character meet-and-greets, specialty snacks, and even a new fireworks show that’s just arrived on Batuu (er, Disneyland). The show can be enjoyed from multiple different areas of Galaxy’s Edge including Black Spire Spaceport (where we watched it from), the TIE Echelon docking platform, and the speeder garage. Fire of the Rising Moons It was magnificent getting to see these fireworks from this perspective! There were lighting and projection effects around Galaxy’s Edge that synced with the music and fireworks display as well, rounding out the show beautifully. It was so amazing! Of course, as Star Wars fans, we were extra giddy to see this show. With iconic music that we know and love it’s a great way to celebrate the Season of the Force! Look how awesome it is! During the Season of the Force, you can visit the wandering droids, say hi to your favorite characters, try new limited-time snacks, ride Hyperspace Mountain (Space Mountain with a Star Wars overlay), and experience the all-new Star Tours scenes. 18. Are you heading to Disney World or some other exciting destination soon? YAY! Southwest Plane If you are flying there, I thought I’d share a tip. You see, I used to be a flight attendant for a major airline…and I’ve seen some things, especially when it comes to luggage. So, I thought I’d share my tip for your carry on bags! So you probably know this but sometimes checked luggage gets lost…SHOCKER, right?! But that’s not all that could potentially happen to that checked luggage. For instance, it could also end up getting soaked. Amazon Carry-On Luggage I can’t tell you the number of times that the people who load and unload the luggage had to hustle inside due to lightning and the luggage was left out on the runway. These employees have to leave the runway for safety reasons and sadly end up having to leave your luggage to the elements for a bit. So if you don’t have hard-sided luggage, everything you brought with you will end up wet in this situation. Sanford Airport This is why I recommend bringing a spare pair of clothes, a set of PJs, and undergarments in your carry-on. Then if your luggage is lost or if everything you own looks like it has taken a dip in the pool, you will still have something to get you through the following day. I also personally like to bring my tooth brush and any other items like medication in my carry-on just in case! When in comes to carry-on bags, most airlines have similar guidelines for what sizes they allow onboard. But I personally like to bring a bag that is guaranteed to fit under my seat. When that flight gets full and everyone is stuffing the overhead bins with luggage, jackets, purses, and who knows what else, you might end up being the person that is asked to check your carry-on luggage under the plane. It happens all the time! But if you are hoping to have those spare clothes and things with you for just in caseys, then I suggest bringing a carry-on that can fit under the seat in front of you. Southwest Cabin Then there is no need to check that bag and you should be a-OK to bring it and your necessities onboard even if all the overhead bins are full! This is just a piece of my personal experience and how I handle my carry-on when I travel now. Looking for more travel tips? Check out our links below. I Travel Full Time. 21. Are you ready for the best Halloween Party to ever grace the West Coast? Well, we’re looking forward to this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure and we are SO ready to get more details. Gotta pay a visit to the boogie man! Now, Disney did recently confirm that Oogie Boogie Bash would return this year (like we knew it would). That’s about all we know about this year’s event, but we’ve been to a few of these parties, so we can probably figure out what this year’s event could hold. 2024 Dates and Tickets This year’s Oogie Boogie Bash will be held from early August 23rd through October 31st. That’s a few weeks earlier than it started last year, but as it’s always so popular, we can imagine that tickets will still sell out for every night pretty quickly (typically, in less than 24 hours). 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash So when will tickets go on sale? In 2023, tickets went on sale in late June, starting with pre-sales for Magic Key Holders. Now, there were some issues with the whole ticket-buying process, but Disney has sort of streamlined that with other events this year. We expect tickets to go on sale this year in late June or early July. As far as ticket prices go, we expect them to be about the same (or maybe a little higher) as last year: from $134 to $189 per person. Disney Confirmed Oogie Boogie Bash Is Returning This Year — Here’s When Tickets Could Go on Sale Returning Entertainment and Activities We also expect specific activities to return this year, including the Interactive Trick or Treat Trails with Villains and Villains Grove. Now, we don’t know what villains we will expect to see this year, and Disney usually adds a few surprises when they announce it, so we’ll be looking forward to that. Villains Grove We also expect to see the return of the Frightfully Fun Parade, filled with that banger of a tune “It’s Halloween-lo-ween” song and even MORE of our favorite Disney villains. We also expect to see Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show return. Plus there will be a lot of unique party PhotoPass photo ops and Magic Shots available! FIRST LOOK at Disney’s Exclusive Oogie Boogie Bash Parade Characters It’s hard to say which characters will appear outside of the trick-or-treat trails this year, but last year we ran into Scarlet Witch, several Avengers characters, Hans, Bruno, and more. Although some of the characters have meet-and-greet spots, you might just find others wandering around California Adventure. Bruno at Disneyland We also expect to see Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle returning this year dressed as the Sanderson Sisters. This is one of the most popular meet and greets during the party! VIDEOS: See the TWO New Villains That Came To Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash Exclusive Snacks and Merchandise The most exciting part of the Oogie Boogie Bash, though, is the few exclusive snacks you can get during the party. We tried a few of those last year — you can read our reviews here. Halloween Scoop You’ll also find party-exclusive merchandise, including special party merchandise for Magic Key Holders. Read our snack reviews from 2023 Of course, we’re still waiting for Disney to reveal more details about this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash, and we expect there might even be a few surprises in store for this year’s party. 22. It’s official — a major Disney ride problem is finally being fixed. Disneyland’s Autopia Autopia opened with Disneyland on July 17, 1955, and the attraction has been putting kids behind the wheel — and creating some seriously stinky fumes in the process — ever since. That’s all about to change soon, though. And, now that Disneyland is finally fixing this annoying ride problem — can we expect Disney World to do the same? Disney is planning on replacing the pure gasoline engines that have powered Autopia’s cars since its inception with new electric or hybrid power sources. A spokesperson for the company said, “…we have developed a roadmap to electrify this attraction and are evaluating technology that will enable us to convert from gas engines in the next few years.” That is SO exciting — especially because if you’ve ever been anywhere near Autopia, you know just how STINKY the gas-powered cars can be. Autopia But, as of now, Disney hasn’t made any announcements about the potential for a similar change to happen at the Disney World version of the ride — Tomorrowland Speedway. It’s something that fans have been begging Disney to change, especially when we talk to our readers about which rides are in serious need of updating. Tomorrowland Speedway in Magic Kingdom is almost always at the top of the list. Tomorrowland Speedway And, while not quite as bothersome as the smell of the fumes, those cars are pretty darn loud as they putter around the race track (can someone please check the catalytic converters?!) It would only make sense for Disney to transition the Tomorrowland Speedway to some sort of electric or hybrid vehicle. Not only would it greatly improve an entire area of Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, but it would be in line with Disney’s recent efforts to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. Tomorrowland Speedway No timetable for the Autopia changeover has been given as of now, and even less is known about whether or not these changes will come to Disney World. As soon as Disney makes any sort of announcements, we’ll let you know! Stay tuned to DFB as we continue to bring you the latest news from Disney World and more! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom — April 2024 The ride in Disney World is set to open this summer. Now, we are starting to see some big signs that we’re getting close. First, several of the walls that have been surrounding the construction have started to come down! No more walls! We have also seen Disney Imagineers test riding the ride! Now, that gets us super excited to see! If they’re riding it, that’s gotta mean it’s almost ready, right? Disney Imagineers riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World Other subtle details have emerged such as the water lily in the new gate. The water little is a nod to the movie the ride is inspired by. Ohh, so fancy! And now that some of the walls have come down, you can see new details like this new sidewalk that has been exposed! New sidewalk We recently learned lots of new information about this ride, including a hint that there will be Splash Mountain Easter Eggs throughout the attraction! Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that’s remained closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. Everything We Know About the Bizzare New Attraction Coming to Magic Kingdom EPCOT Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is still closed in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when it might reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh The restaurant is kind of open right now — it’s functioning as a lounge with just a couple of drink options. However, we’re still waiting for the full restaurant to reopen! The restaurant’s website looks normal, so we still don’t know if it is permanently closed or if it could reopen. Something New Landed in World Celebration Gardens EPCOT Disney’s Hollywood Studios Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed on January 8th, it won’t reopen until the summer of this year. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Although we don’t have an exact reopening date yet, we know that it’ll be at least a few months before the ride reopens. Last year, when the ride closed around this time (on February 20th, to be exact), it reopened on May 26th. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Well, it’s official — Voyage of the Little Mermaid is permanently closed in Disney World. We had suspected this was the case for some time (as it hasn’t actually been open for a few years now), but now the permanent closure has been confirmed. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a NEW show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” Why You Won’t Want to Go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 5th Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach had its last open day on March 16th, 2024 before it closed for refurbishment.
