  1. Disney just dropped a hotel deal that made our jaws hit the floor. Art of Animation ‘Cars’ Family Suites Disney+ subscribers, this one’s for you. For a limited time, you can score some seriously good hotel discounts this summer — like, surprisingly good. We’re talking deluxe resorts with views for prices that feel like they belong to a decade ago. But (you knew there was a but), these rooms won’t last long, so here’s everything you need to know before they disappear. Let’s get straight to the good stuff. Disney+ members can now take advantage of a special hotel offer for stays between June 29th and July 31st, 2025 — but only if you’re staying at least two nights (and no more than 14). The deals are only available to subscribers, so you’ll need to log into your Disney account with your Disney+ info ready when you book. All-Star Sports Here’s a quick look at the discounted rates that have us questioning reality: $99/night (plus tax) for a Standard Room at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort $169/night (plus tax) for a Woods View Room at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside $229/night (plus tax) for Cars Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort $249/night (plus tax) for Deluxe Studios at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort $339/night (plus tax) for Savanna View Rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Savanna view Now, here’s the thing: not all rooms are eligible, and the fine print matters here. The offer does not apply to: 3-Bedroom Villas Deluxe Resort Suites Standard View and Standard View – 5th Sleeper rooms at Port Orleans – Riverside Standard View and Standard View – 5th Sleeper rooms in Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation So if your dream was a Little Mermaid room on a discount, unfortunately, this one’s not it. And as with most things Disney these days, there are limited rooms available at these discounted rates — emphasis on limited. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. That’s why if you’re even thinking about booking a summer trip, it’s probably time to start making some moves. Port Orleans Riverside Another heads-up: proof of your active Disney+ subscription is required to book. This means logging into your Disney account that’s tied to your Disney+ membership — and yes, it has to be active at the time of booking. ©Disney If you’ve been dreaming about a summer trip but cringing at hotel prices, this is your window. Deals like these don’t come around often — and we wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t come around again. If you’re already a subscriber, this is essentially a perk that just paid for itself. And if you’re not, well, that $9.99/month might be the gateway to a $99/night Disney trip. Art of Animation Hotel Whether you’re looking for a budget-friendly room or want to treat yourself to a deluxe resort view without totally wrecking your wallet, this offer has a little something for every kind of park-goer. But again — move fast. People are already scooping up rooms, and the best ones will go first (Animal Kingdom Lodge fans, you already know). 2. One of our favorite feelings in the world is a movie premiere, and there might be nothing better than combining a movie premiere with an incredible Disney Legend. Welcome to the premiere! Bob Gurr: Living by Design is a new documentary that premiered on April 26th at the Alex Theater in Glendale, California. It covers the life of Bob Gurr, a Disney Imagineer who helped shape Disney Parks into what they are today. We were invited to the premiere, where Bob Gurr was there in person! He took on the red carpet looking as stylish as ever. Bob Gurr Gurr made many of the original ride vehicles you might have ridden at Disneyland, including the Doombuggies of the Haunted Mansion, the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Disneyland Monorail, and even the cars of Autopia. One of the cars was also at the premiere! Autopia Car They had rare collectibles, like attraction posters and concept art, a lot signed by Gurr! Lots of posters Gurr was welcomed as a Disney Legend in 2004, and we saw a replica of his plaque. A Legend! Inside the theater, Gurr spoke on his career and the documentary, and it was so fun to see the legend speak. If you’re a Disney history nerd like us, it’s hard to research anything about Disneyland and not see his name come up. Bob Gurr As the 70th anniversary of Disneyland comes around, we love honoring the legends who made our theme parks what we know and love. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more history about the Disney Parks. DISNEY ANNOUNCED NEW ADDITIONS FOR 70TH ANNIVERSARY — INCLUDING DESSERT PARTIES! 3. Disney World is expensive — there’s no way around that, but there are ways to make your trip less likely to break the bank. Magic Kingdom Dining in Disney World can be especially hard sometimes considering it can cost quite a pretty penny, especially if you’re with a larger group. However, the key is to grab snacks and meals that are both filling AND on the cheaper side — yes, they do exist, and we’re about to prove it to you right now! Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom may not be home to some of the best meals out there for an affordable price, BUT it does do pretty well when it comes to snacks! First up, one of the BEST breakfast deals out there is the Cinnamon Roll from Gaston’s Tavern! Cinnamon Roll This thing is MASSIVE and is delicious and fresh 8/10 times (we have sometimes gotten a less fresh batch, but that’s not common). It’s easily a filling breakfast for one person, OR it can be shared between two or even three people with no issues. For only $6.99, this is a FANTASTIC deal! Warm Cinnamon Roll Also in Magic Kingdom, we recommend the Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner when it comes to lunch or dinner IF you’re looking for something simple. Each order comes with about 7-10 nuggets PLUS a hefty order of fries, which is plenty to fill most people up. Corn Dog Nuggets! For $10.99, this is another great deal for those who are looking for a solid, quick stop that is reliable every time and won’t let you down. However, if you’re looking for something more advanced, this won’t be the stop. A Casey’s Corner Picnic But some of the BEST deals are found in the other parks! EPCOT EPCOT has one of THE BEST DEALS hands down when it comes to saving money and getting a big snack at the same time. At Les Halles in the France Pavilion, you can buy a WHOLE Baguette for just $4.95! A WHOLE Baguette! A Half Baguette is also available for just $2.95, and these are fresh from the oven. Are they more plain? Yes, but hey, bread is filling, AND these are delicious, fresh, and cheap, so we always count them as a win. Disney’s Hollywood Studios The Totchos from Woody’s Lunch Box are another SUPER filling meal that don’t break the bank. Not only is this is a BIG serving, but it’s filled with ingredients that are known for filling you up faster and keeping you good to go for a while. Totchos These are $10.49, and it’s a heavy meal, so we do warn you ahead of time about that. We also want to highlight that the Breakfast Bowl you can get in the morning has very similar ingredients and is $8.79, BUT there’s also a Kids’ Meal version that’s only $5.99 and is honestly just as filling thanks to all the sides it comes with! Kids’ Breakfast Bowl If you’re looking for a sweet treat in the park, don’t skip the Carrot Cake Cookie at Trolley Car Cafe! For just $5.70 you can grab this HUGE cookie, made up of two slabs of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting in the middle. Carrot Cake Cookie While this can be finished by one person, you won’t be hungry for a while (and if that’s the point, then YAY), so splitting it between 2-3 people is also an easy solution. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom is known for not only having the best snacks and meal options, but also allowing you to save money while doing it. One of our absolute favorite options here is the Chicken and Rice from Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe for only $7.99. Chicken Fried Rice This is a pretty hefty size for the price, and again, rice and chicken is pretty filling, so we’re not complaining! It’s always delicious and has never let us down, so don’t sleep on this spot the next time you’re in the park. We love it! Over in Pandora you’ll find the Cheeseburger Pods from Satu’li Canteen, and BOY do we rave about these! They’re like a McDonald’s cheeseburger in a pillowy, fluffy bao bun, and we’re obsessed. Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen Again, they’re more on the simple side, which is great for picky eaters, and they ARE filling! You can get a kids’ meal for $8.59 or a full meal for $13.99. Cheeseburger Pods for Kids Finally, we have the Colossal Pretzel from Pongu Pongu, and THIS is filling! Similar to the Baguette, it’s basically all bread, and while there are many colossal pretzels you can find around Disney World, we feel this is one of the best consistently. Behold the Colossal Pretzel! It’s fantastic to share with multiple people, and at $12.99 that’s not a bad deal — especially because it comes with delicious beer cheese to dip it into! And it comes with CHEESE New snacks are almost always being added to the parks AND they change very often, which can be tricky, but that’s why we’re here. Our number one tip here — you’ll be tempted to grab the adorable Mickey snacks and ice cream bars, but they’re more expensive because they’re themed. Stay away from them if you can! We’re always here to help you plan the best trip possible to Disney World while also making sure you’re not completely breaking the bank. 4. It feels like Southwest Airlines has been in the news a lot recently. They’ve recently changed their free bags and open seating policy, and are now making another change. ©Southwest Airlines If you’re planning on booking a flight with Southwest in the second half of the year, you might want to start planning your trip now. Southwest will be cutting flights for the second half of 2025. This is after both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines announced earlier this month that they will be scaling back their domestic flights for the second half of the year. Southwest Airlines In a filing report, Southwest says, “Amid the current macroeconomic uncertainty, it is difficult to forecast given recent and short-lived booking trends.” Southwest expects unit revenue to be down as much as 4% in the second quarter compared to the previous year. This is about a net loss of $149 million, or $0.26 loss per diluted share. Mickey & Minnie Are Ready to Fly — Are You? The airline plans to add assigned and extra-legroom seats in the third quarter of this year and charge for bags next month. ©Southwest Airlines If you fly Southwest, here are a few important dates you need to know: Seats with extra legroom will start on May 1st Checked bags will be charged for any flights booked after May 27th Reserved seating will start for flights in early 2026 ©Southwest Airlines As Southwest cuts back on flights, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more promotions and sales for your upcoming travel adventures. Epic Universe It seems like everyone around the world is excited for Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, to open, and the celebrations are getting bigger and bigger. The Edinburgh Castle in Scotland is projecting a world class production display of Epic Universe and their five immersive lands, Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. ©Universal The show will take place on May 2nd at 9 PM and will be a historic first, as the Universal Epic Universe-themed projection mapping and lighting experience begins. Jackson Square Gifts & Desires During a recent visit to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort, we stumbled across a fun trivia game that ended with a prize! We’ve seen all kinds of fun souvenirs at Disney World, but this might be a new favorite. During a recent visit to the hotel, we popped into Jackson Square Gifts and noticed a Hocus Pocus trivia game. Immediately locked in. What color is the potion that Max drinks in the graveyard? Oh, Disney, we’re so glad you asked! Trivia! After completing the game (we won, obviously), we were given this fun, exclusive button featuring Ray from The Princess and the Frog as a prize! The prize! According to a Cast Member we spoke to, the shop has numerous quizzes which they rotate daily. 8. When you think of sweet treats in Magic Kingdom, you likely think of places like the Main Street Confectionery or Plaza Ice Cream Parlor first. We certainly have a sweet tooth! However, there are lots of places you can grab a sweet snack in the park that you may not know about. We took a trip to Big Top Souvenirs in Fantasyland (yes, a gift shop!) and can confirm that this snack may seem unassuming, but it definitely hits the spot! Over at this iconic merchandise location, you’ll find that there’s a large bakery case full of different sweets. While there are also pre-packaged snacks all over in the store, we recommend grabbing something fresh out of the case instead of a pre-packaged item if you can help it (for example: a candy apple from the case instead of one that’s already been packaged — it’ll be fresher!). Treats in the case! We decided to grab a piece of the Cookies & Cream Fudge for $5.79. We’ll be honest, we weren’t really expecting much since fudge can be fickle to master, and we weren’t sure how Disney would do with it, but we were impressed! Cookies & Cream Fudge! This tastes like a cookies and cream milkshake in fudge form! It is incredibly creamy and milky-tasting, with a rich Oreo flavor. There are even crushed-up Oreos on top! It is pretty rich, so even though it looks small, you will definitely satisfy that sweet tooth with no problem. Yum! And just under $6 isn’t bad for this in our eyes either, especially since we think it’s easily shareable for those who often don’t eat rich foods or only want a little of them. So next time you’re thinking of grabbing something to satisfy that sweet tooth craving, don’t discount Big Top Souvenirs! More Recent Reviews! Now, they’re giving YOU the chance to take something home from those archives, and it’s all for a good cause! ©Disney From April 23rd through the 30th, Disney will be participating in the Sotheby’s AnimAID | The Art of Animation online auction along with Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, and Paramount, with proceeds going to Los Angeles fire relief organizations. There are some truly incredible pieces up for auction, so get your paddles ready for bidding! The auction will “offer a treasure trove of rare and one-of-a-kind pieces of animation history with proceeds benefiting local animators and their families who have been affected by the fires” and feature “historical offerings from the company’s vast animation libraries — inclusive of Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Disney Television Animation, 20th Century Television, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Animation — that go back over a century, along with new original pieces from its world-class animators, like Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer.” ©Sotheby’s Meredith Roberts, EVP, Television Animation, Disney Branded Television, described the driving force behind the auction as such: “Los Angeles is our hometown and the heart of the animation community. 10. If you are taking advantage of the FREE Disney hotel perk, you will want to keep these things in mind. Blizzard Beach In 2025 (and now also in 2026), Disney hotel guests get a free ticket to one of the water parks on the day they check in. This is a great deal because it is FREE and this summer, both water parks will be open together! It’s been a long time since we’ve seen both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach open at the same time, but from May 21 to September 7, 2025, they will both be open. But, before you grab your bathing suit and sunscreen, there are some things you should know. 1. Extra Costs While your ticket is free, you’ll need to buy food and drinks while there. Trust us, there are some great snacks to be found here. You might also need to purchase other items ahead of time like bathing suit, sunscreen, water shoes, etc. Thse are things to keep in mind when you are planning to use this perk. Praline Sundae 2. Disney Transportation Issues If you are taking transportation from Disney hotel to travel to the water parks, you’ll likely have to transfer buses. While there are a few hotels with direct buses, most of them you will have to take one bus somewhere else and then grab another bus to head to your final destination. For example, you might head to Disney Springs for Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Animal Kingdom for Blizzard Beach. Disney Bus 3. Full Capacity The water parks can hit capacity and we have actually seen this happen. If it does you might need to pivot on your plans. This summer while both water parks are open, it is less likely to happen, but we won’t be surprised if it does. Blizzard Beach 4. Weather With summer approaching, that means that daily storms is right around the corner. The summer storms could close down parts of the water park. While it is far away, when it gets into colder months, the water parks can close. If the parks due close due to weather, the ticket cannot be transferred to another date. 11. Since we visit theme parks every single day, it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about what takes a theme park to the next level for its guests. Welcome to Epic Universe With Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, opening in less than one month, we’ve been exploring every nook and cranny, and this massive theme park perk has been staring right at us. Wait till you see how easy it is to fill up your water bottle at Epic Universe. Epic Universe has a bunch of free water refill stations all over the park, and when we say a bunch, we mean it. Freestyle Machines We’ve found some in every land, and we usually spot them before we even know we need them. They’ve been on theme with the area they’re in, too, which really adds to the immersion of the Epic Universe. Isle of Berk You don’t have to talk to anyone, but you can walk right up, fill it, and be on your way to exploring the rest of the park. The water has been ice cold, too! Coca- Cola Freestyle Machine There are even lots of Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines around the park, which are perfect if you pick up a refillable mug where you get free soda refills for the entire day. Not only were they at counter-service restaurants when you’re grabbing a bite to eat, but also scattered throughout the park. If you’re worried about getting your money’s worth and you want to make sure that you can easily fill up your cup throughout the day, Epic Universe is trying to make it very convenient to fill up whenever you need it. Stella Nova Resort Refillable Mug For water drinkers, you can also fill up at the Freestyle Machines, so you can have your water bottle filled with ice, too. Harry Potter and the Ministry of Magic While this might seem like a small part of building a theme park, it’s huge when it comes to how guests feel in the parks. We know how hot Epic Universe can get due to the lack of shade coverage, so it’s even more important than usual to stay hydrated. The better you feel inside the parks, the more you’ll want to wait to catch another ride and head into one more gift shop. Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine Epic Universe opens May 22nd, and we’re exploring every part and sharing all the details with you so your first day at Epic Universe is as perfect as possible. 12. We’re constantly wondering if Disney World will ever announce a fifth theme park…and if the announcement’s coming, when can we expect it? Welcome to Disney World! While Universal’s Epic Universe is dominating the theme park conversation as it ushers in a new era of Universal theme park entertainment, we can’t help but wonder what’s next for another major Florida-based theme park resort — Disney World! garnering a lot of attention from theme park fans. A fifth park would certainly shift the focus back on Disney, and we have a guess as to when Disney could potentially drop this massive announcement. Currently, Disney World has four theme parks and two water parks, with its last theme park — Disney’s Animal Kingdom — opening in 1998. But could we see that number expand soon? Disney’s Animal Kingdom Talk on a fifth theme park has been speculative for a while, and that talk hasn’t slowed down as Disney World continues to move forward with expansion plans, including a Cars area in Magic Kingdom, Pueblo Esperanza in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Monsters, Inc. Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a Villains Land in Magic Kingdom. Villains Land ©Disney Disney doesn’t tend to drop news this consequential whenever — the company is calculative and likes to drop news bombs when the world is paying attention. That leads us to believe that The Walt Disney Company will wait for a major expo/convention — the nearest one being Destination D23 at Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort from August 29th through 31st, 2025. Still, we’re hesitant to believe that THIS event will be where Disney announces that fifth theme park. ©Disney We’ll be getting some announcements and closer looks at upcoming Disney projects during Destination D23 presentations, but it’s far more likely that THE big Disney World news is actually delivered in 2026 at D23 expo, a generally larger and more impactful event. During last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced A TON of expansions and additions to its theme parks worldwide, delivering HUGE news every day of the expo. When the event returns in the future, it would make the most sense for Disney to do the fifth park announcement then, as it will have more attention and ample time will have passed since Disney last dropped significant news. D23 Experts suggest the announcement may happen sooner rather than later and we’ll be covering both events, so stay tuned right here at DFB for all the latest fifth park updates and all kinds of Disney World news! 13. We are getting close to being ONE month out from the opening of two brand-new Disney shows in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! On April 27th, we will be just one month away from the debut of Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.” ©Disney We have been waiting (not so) patiently for the grand opening show, and we are getting closer and closer! However, we still have a bit before they open. Let’s take a closer look at what these shows are replacing and what else is closed in Disney World this week. First, let’s take a look at what is currently closed in Disney World to make way for these two brand-new shows. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show officially has an opening date! The show will debut on May 27th, 2025. We also recently saw that they have begun to dismantle the outdoor exhibits from Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. Voyage of the Little Mermaid As well, Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. A bit ago we saw that the iconic Voyage of the Little Mermaid marquee has been removed! So far, it is still missing, but we are curious what, if anything, will take its place. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and will be debuting on May 27th, 2025. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” Keep reading below to see what attractions and locations will be closed this week, April 26th through May 3rd! Magic Kingdom Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue closed for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground is closed, the ride is still open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. Hall of Presidents The Hall of Presidents closed at Magic Kingdom on January 20th. Hall of Presidents The attraction will be closed until later in 2025, though Disney has not shared a specific date. We will keep an eye out for updates, though! The closure is likely to change the current president, as January 20th marked Inauguration Day. While it is closed, other maintenance and routine work may also be happening. Astro Orbiter If you want to blast off into space, you’ll have to head over to Space Mountain because Astro Orbiter is temporarily closed for refurbishment! Astro Orbiter closed as of January 13th and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025. No specific date has been announced for the high-in-the-sky ride, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an update from Disney. Astro Orbiter The ride has currently been completely dismantled and is being refurbished elsewhere. It definitely looks a little barren as you are walking into Tomorrowland right now! However, Disney recently filed a permit that could mean the attraction will soon be back in its place in Tomorrowland. This Is the Best Place to Cry in Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and take a rest, this could be it! Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is also a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we have seen it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! 3 NEW Things We Just Spotted in Magic Kingdom EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, 2024 and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Test Track Disney shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience and an updated opening timeline was announced! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in late summer 2025. We recently got a look at the new Test Track cars too. We are getting closer and closer to its reopening! Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh Occasionally, we’ll see it open as a lounge or Kidcot Fun Stop. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! The New Procedures You Have to Follow in EPCOT Animal Kingdom It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is officially closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. While the show didn’t usually make it to the top of favorite attractions in Disney World, it has now officially closed to make way for a new show. It’s Tough to be a Bug! It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed on March 17th. The show is permanently closed to make way for a brand-new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” expected to debut in winter 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and things have been disappearing from behind the walls. Almost everything has been taken down behind the walls, including the large green dinosaur. DinoLand Construction Walls It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” The Most Expensive Restaurant in Animal Kingdom You Should SKIP (and the One You’ve Gotta Try) Disney Springs Starbucks on the West Side The Starbucks on the West Side of Disney Springs is temporarily closed for refurbishment. It closed on March 3rd, and it is expected to reopen in mid-summer. Starbucks is undergoing refurbishment Have no fear, though — you can still get your Starbucks fix in Disney Springs! Head over to the Disney Springs Marketplace location, which will be open during the refurbishment. Caffeine headaches are not allowed in Disney Springs! The One Thing a Celebrity Chef Is Begging You to Order in Disney Springs Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach (But Not at the Same Time) Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have been switching off being open, and they are about to make the switch again! Currently, Blizzard Beach is open, and Typhoon Lagoon is closed. However, Typhoon Lagoon will be reopening on May 1st, 2025. When it reopens, Blizzard Beach will be temporarily closing. Blizzard Beach Disney has been having one water park open at a time seasonally since 2020, but that is changing this year. BOTH Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open at the same time from May 21st through September 7th, 2025. So if you are heading to the water parks this week, make sure to double check which one is open on the day you want to go. Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach! Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Alright, it is only kind of closing, but we wanted to make sure you were aware! From April 28th until June 16th, 2025, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf will be undergoing refurbishment. However, even though it will be getting refurbished, you can still stop by to play a round of golf. Only ONE course will be open at a time during the refurbishment, so you won’t have your choice of The Summer or The Winter Course, it will just be whichever one is open. Winter Summerland Mini Golf As well, Winter Summerland won’t be taking reservations during this time. If you are looking to play a round, you will just head over to the course as a walk-up. You can also head over to Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf if you are looking for even more mini golf fun. 27 Extremely RARE Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do in Disney World Disney World Hotels Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk is officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th and has closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls However, this isn’t the end for Jellyrolls, as the bar has said they are “making a move.” We don’t know many details about that move yet, but we will keep you updated. Stormalong Bay and Hurricane Hanna’s– Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Stormalong Bay is the shared pool between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It features a beach, a lazy river, a large pool, and an exciting pirate ship slide! When we stopped by recently, we noticed that they were hard at work at Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay Construction This pool area will be closed for refurbishment until June. While it’s closed, hotel guests can use the Tidal (Beach Club), Admiral (Yacht Club), and Dunes Cove (Beach Club) leisure pools. During the refurbishment, Hurricane Hanna’s, the pool bar at Stormalong Bay will also be closed. Merchandise Locations — Disney’s BoardWalk The merchandise locations along Disney’s BoardWalk will be closing for refurbishment in phases. The closures will last until May 2025, but two merchandise locations will always be available during the refurbishment. Disney’s BoardWalk The Character Carnival is currently closed. While they are working on the Character Carnival, you can shop at Screen Door General Store and Thimbles & Threads. 16. EPCOT is such an underrated park. First, you’ve got all these AMAZING festivals that bring a lot of extra food, fun, and entertainment to the park. EPCOT Plus you’ve got World Showcase where you can walk around the world in less than a day (and again…MORE great food). Then there are the nighttime shows. Of course, there’s the show on World Showcase Lagoon, Luminous “The Symphony of Us.” But there’s also the fancy lighting on Spaceship Earth that lights up the night throughout the evening in the front of the park. However, we recently spotted a BIG problem with EPCOT’s icon. Back in 2021, Spaceship Earth got some new fancy lights put on it to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. the lights are designed in a way that they can be programmed to create all kinds of fun little light shows that happen on EPCOT’s big ‘ole golf ball. In fact, each festival gets its own special light show on the globe. Spaceship Earth at Night during the EPCOT Festival of the Arts However, we were recently watching the Spaceship Earth lights from the Skyliner and noticed something. Some of the lights seem to be burned out. For example, when a certain section of Spaceship Earth is supposed to be all lit up pink and orange, there were chunks of lights that seemed burned out so the effect was patchy-looking. It’s been four years since those lights were initially installed, so it might make sense that some need to be replaced. For example, when you look at this Festival of the Holidays lighting show on Spaceship Earth, there are a line of white lights that look considerably dimmer than the rest. Spaceship Earth Here’s a photo taken of Spaceship Earth from afar and you can see patches where the lights seem to be burned out. Lights are burned out? Now, don’t get us wrong, we LOVE this lightning on Spaceship Earth — it really brings life to the front of the park at night. But it does look like the lighting needs a bit of a refresh and maybe some lights need to be replaced. So, hopefully, Disney will get on that quickly. 17. If you’ve ever stayed at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, you’re probably already familiar with the quick-service restaurant there, Trail’s End Restaurant. Trail’s End Restaurant Now, Trail’s End got a bit of an overhaul a few years ago, but it’s still the place to go to get a quick bite to eat and a little snack. Now, usually the snacks are things like cupcakes, Mickey ice cream bars, and the like, but sometimes a new snack pops up. So join us as we head over to Fort Wilderness to try out a fun snack at Trail’s End Restaurant. Meet the Apple Hand Pie, which is made with a flaky crust and apple-cinnamon filling for $6.29. Now this square little pie could be a contender to go up against McDonald’s Apple Pie, and it’s certainly a bit bigger (and yes, we think those McDonald’s pies have shrunk since we were kids). So first off, a warning. UNLIKE a McDonald’s apple pie, it’s not served warm (you grab it in the bakery section). Now this is a SERIOUS faux pas, y’all. Apple Hand Pie HOWEVER, the dough is still flaky, although it seemed a bit dry. The filling has tender apples and a sweet cinnamon-y syrup, but you don’t get enough of it, in our opinion. There’s a lot more dough than there is filling, and again, that’s a miss for us. You do have some nice sugar crystals on the outside to add a bit of texture and crunch. Needs more filling So, yeah, it’s an apple pie. We wouldn’t travel all the way to Fort Wilderness for it, but if you’re staying there, it could satisfy that apple pie urge. To quote our reporter, it’s “nothing special, but gets the job done.” Stay tuned to DFB for more! WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! 18. Quick service restaurants at Disney World hotels don’t always have the best reputations. Many people will opt to skip the food courts at the value and moderate Disney World hotels if they have the chance, and even the grab-and-go food at the deluxe resorts isn’t really much to write home about most of the time. Disney’s Beach Club Resort However, there’s always the chance that you’ll find a hidden gem menu item at one of these hotels, so recently, we visited Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club Resort to see if the food there is praiseworthy. Atmosphere Beach Club Marketplace is an interesting case when it comes to dining. Both Beach Club and Yacht Club’s quick service restaurants are located INSIDE gift shops, so you get a strange amalgamation of shopping and dining. Beach Club Marketplace The vibe here feels more like a grab-and-go spot than a true quick-service location. You will find a counter towards the back of the shop where you can place your order for food. Beach Club Marketplace Food There are also refrigerated displays with prepackaged snacks, sandwiches, and desserts are set up throughout. You can grab snacks! What’s even more bizarre is that there isn’t really restaurant seating here. If you exit across from the restaurant entrance, you’ll find a door that leads outside to some picnic-style tables. These are under an awning, so you could probably have a nice meal here if it’s not too hot or raining sideways. Seating nearby Your other seating option is to walk down the hall to the Beach Club Solarium. This room is filled with chairs, tables, and couches, so it’s a bit more comfortable on a bad weather day. Seating in The Solarium So now that we’ve checked out the space, let’s talk about the food! Menu Most of the menu features typical quick-service lunch options. They’ve got a chili cheese hot dog, pepperoni flatbread, various sandwiches, and a salad option. ©Disney Plant-based eaters can try the chili, and those looking for something healthier might want to check out the soup and salad selections, which include a Chicken Caesar Salad, chili, and clam chowder (fitting for a place called the Beach Club). ©Disney There are a few different options for the kids, from healthier items like sandwiches and a Kid’s Pack to a hot dog, macaroni and cheese, or an Uncrustable. ©Disney The bakery section has cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and other pastries. And if you’re celebrating a birthday, you can even purchase an entire cake! ©Disney Other dessert options are available outside the bakery, including a cupcake, a brownie, a Caramel Cheesecake, and the Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle. ©Disney To drink, you can try a fresh-made specialty coffee, each prepared with Joffrey’s Coffee. They also serve hot tea and hot cocoa. ©Disney So, what did I order to try? Eats First up, we grabbed the Caprese Sandwich for $11.99. It’s made with sun-dried tomato pesto, arugula, fresh mozzarella, and tomato on Focaccia bread served with a side of chips. Caprese Sandwich We were surprisingly impressed with this sandwich! While it may have come from inside a gift shop, it sure didn’t taste like it did. There were lots of toppings on top including plenty of tomato, 3 big slices of mozzarella, and a good handful of arugula. There is a reason caprese is so popular, and these flavors blended well together for a light and tasty sandwich. Caprese Sandwich Plus, we can’t praise the focaccia bread enough! It was soft, light, and buttery, with a slightly toasted outside so the edges were crisp, yet the inside was fluffy and soft. The herbs and garlic on top added great flavor, and the bread worked really well with the toppings. We will be thinking about that focaccia for a while! Caprese Sandwich Next, we had the Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese for $7.29. This one is unique because it comes topped with Goldfish! The meal comes with two sides and a beverage. For sides, you can choose from prepackaged grapes, carrots, or apple sauce. There aren’t any hot sides available here. We chose the grapes and applesauce, which were exactly what you would expect. Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese The kids’ macaroni and cheese is your classic Disney mac & cheese. We thought this macaroni and cheese tasted a smidge cheesier than others we have tried, but if your kiddo is a fan of Kraft macaroni and cheese, they will likely enjoy this dish. Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese It comes with goldfish crackers on top which we thought was a fun touch. Plus, it adds a great crunchy texture to the soft mac and cheese. We do have a warning though, as the mac and cheese is saucy. The goldfish got soft pretty quickly, so you will want to plan on eating this pretty quickly. Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese For dessert, we chose the Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle for $5.49. It’s made with layers of chocolate cookie sandwich mousse, chocolate cake, and whipped cream. This dessert has a nice chill to it as it comes from the refrigerated section. While the dessert is simple, it was delicious. Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle It was creamy and a great changeup from a cookie or a cupcake. The layers of chocolate cookie sandwich mousse reminded us of a cheesecake filling, and the chocolate cake layers were fairly moist. There was lots of Oreo and chocolate flavor in this dessert, and it is one we would definitely get again! Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You are staying at an EPCOT resort and are looking for a quick bite. If you are staying at one of the EPCOT resorts nearby to Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and are looking to grab a quick bite, the Beach Club Marketplace could be a great option. You are craving a Caprese Sandwich made with some delicious focaccia bread. We really enjoyed the Caprese Sandwich and that focaccia bread was fantastic! Not to say you can’t find a great Caprese Sandwich elsewhere (for example you can also find one at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian), but this is a wonderful option. You want to escape the crowds and grab some light bites. If you are tired of being surrounded by crowds, this could be a great stop. Especially if you are in EPCOT as you can walk over or take a boat to the hotel. You will find a more relaxed vibe and less people here. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You are looking for a large meal. You could make it work by grabbing a lot of items, but overall, this location would be better suited for a snack or lighter meal. The good news is that there are lots of restaurant options nearby including Trattoria al Forno, The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant, and Ale & Compass. You are looking for unique menu options. The menu features lots of classic fare and there aren’t many unique flavors or pairings to be found. It could be great for picky eaters, but if you are looking for something that you haven’t tasted before, this won’t be the best option. For example, you could head over to Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for some African flavors. You are not close to Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and it would be difficult to get to. While we really enjoyed our meal, we also don’t think this is a restaurant you need to go out of your way to try. If you are in the area, go for it. But don’t make a long trek here! Overall We were actually very impressed with this quasi-gift shop, quasi-quick service restaurant location. While it is tucked away inside the Beach Club Marketplace, we enjoyed everything we tried here. The Caprese Sandwich was fresh, and we will be dreaming about that focaccia bread. The Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle was simple, but such a satisfying dessert. The Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese wasn’t anything that knocked our socks off, but kids would enjoy it, and we loved the goldfish crackers on top. Our biggest complaint is the seating situation, but there are a couple of good options nearby! Beach Club Marketplace, you impressed us! 20. Insert heavy breathing here… ©Disney It’s the 20th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, which is the final (and perhaps best) movie in the Star Wars prequel trilogy that tells the story of how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader and how the Empire is born. In honor of that big anniversary, the movie is returning to theaters for a limited time. But that’s not all; if you see the film at AMC Theatres, you’ll also be able to get an EPIC Darth Vader popcorn bucket. That’s right, if you plan on seeing Star Wars Episode III — Revenge of the Sith at an AMC Theatre, you can pick up this SWEET Darth Vader popcorn bucket, which is basically just Darth Vader’s iconic helmet (which he had to wear to stay alive). ©AMC But wait…because AMC is promising that this popcorn bucket even makes the HEAVY BREATHING SOUNDS. Cue the Imperial March because we’re marching straight to the theater to grab this bad boy. The popcorn bucket is only available while supplies last, so you’ll want to grab it as soon as possible. But, hey, if you miss out, you can always visit Disneyland and grab the Death Star popcorn bucket, which is equally as iconic, right? 23. We have been ALL over Epic Universe and have enjoyed seeing the five new lands in Universal Orlando’s new theme park. Celestial Park in Epic Universe We’ve been on the rides, we’ve checked out the character meet and greets, and we’ve enjoyed the vibe of each land. However, most importantly, we’ve been checking out the FOOD, so we’re coming back at you with a NEW review, this time of a bar called The Plastered Owl (okay, is that not the COOLEST bar name ever?). So here are our honest thoughts. You’ll find The Plastered Owl connected to The Oak & Star Tavern, and the vibe is pretty much the same. Lots of wood-inspired colors. The bar gets its name from a “comical celestial owl,” who apparently spent a lot of time plastered (seriously, we love this bar’s name). You’ll even see some of the adventures of the owl in question on the wall carvings. Oak & Star Tavern The menu features ales on tap, fun cocktails, a mocktail, wine, and beer. We decided to give the mocktail a try. It’s called Enchanted Oak Sap and it costs $7. It’s made with Ginger purée, lime juice, rosemary-infused simple syrup, club soda with an orange wheel. Just a warning that the ginger flavor is STRONG — it’s the first flavor you’ll get. Enchanted Oak Sap The orange comes in second, though, so you get ginger then orange, and we’re not sure that’s a great combination. However, for being a mocktail, the flavor profile is similar to what you’d expect from a drink with alcohol. You’ll have to appreciate those flavors to appreciate this drink, though. Orange slices in the drink For the boozy side of things, we also tried the Witty Wolf’s Breakfast Sour for $19. It’s made with Rattlesnake Rosie’s Maple Bacon Whiskey, DeKuyper orange Curação, Grade A maple syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, and Angostura bitters, with an applewood-smoked bacon strip. Yep, bacon on a drink. Who would’ve thunk it? So it’s basically a twist on a whiskey sour, but with some additional breakfast flavors thrown in. Witty Wolf’s Breakfast Sour We think this adds to the whole whiskey sour thing — the breakfast flavors like the orange juice add some nice freshness that mellows it out. They also put the bacon flat on top, so when you’re sipping the drink, you’re getting the aromatics of the bacon, which adds a nice smokiness. This is really interesting and makes for a great first drink of the day in Epic Universe. Plus, you get some nice crispy bacon to eat after. Bacon makes it breakfast Overall, we’re okay with drinking our breakfast…just saying. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 24. The current American tariff situation has caused some confusion and anxiety for consumers everywhere, but one popular wholesale retail chain is trying to ease concerns. ©Costco As the current presidential administration moves forward in implementing increased tariffs, regular folks around the world are trying to evaluate or taking their best guess as to what multiple looming trade wars could yield in terms of economic stability. Particularly as it relates to a trade war with China, the CEO of Costco says not to worry…too much. According to Entrepreneur, despite the global economic uncertainty, Costco doesn’t plan to raise its prices significantly nor make any dramatic changes. ©Costco Wholesale During Costco’s second-quarter earnings in March, CEO Ron Vachris noted that Costco intends to keep prices low “by leveraging our global buying power, strong supplier relationships, and innovation.” Vachris acknowledged that predicting the impact of tariffs remains difficult, but the company will remain steadfast in minimizing cost increases. ©Shutterstock Vachris also mentioned that “a third of our sales in the U.S. are imported from other countries, and less than half of those are items coming from China, Mexico, and Canada.” Thanks to this, Costco is expected to have a decent earnings outlook DESPITE the tariffs. ©Shutterstock The retailer expects consumers to be more mindful and purposeful in their spending as the impact of inflation and tariffs becomes more prominent. As such, Costco is prepared to adjust. We may just have to wait and see what exactly those adjustments look like. We’ll continue to keep you posted on this story as it develops, so stay tuned right here at DFB for all the latest updates. 25. So you booked your Disney World trip in May thinking it would be the perfect time to go. Walt Disney World entrance Totally fair. May sounds like a sweet spot — spring break crowds are gone, summer vacation mobs haven’t rolled in yet, and you’re feeling optimistic. But trust us, there are a few curveballs this month likes to throw your way. Before you pack those mouse ears, let’s talk about some mistakes you don’t want to make on your trip. Underestimating the Heat If you’re coming from somewhere that’s still defrosting from winter, you might see Orlando’s May forecast and think, “Oh that’s not bad!” The average highs float in the 85 to 89 range. But last year? We were regularly hitting 95 degrees. Ninety. Five. Things start to get HOT in May That is not “casually stroll through Fantasyland” weather. That is “why am I sweating in places I didn’t know could sweat” weather. So, if you’re thinking of pulling up in your favorite jeans or some super cute but not-so-breathable outfit, rethink that now. Dress like it’s July. Prioritize shade. Hydrate like it’s your job. And yes, bring the fan. You know the one. Also, pack layers since it might be cooler in the mornings and evenings! Skipping EPCOT (Seriously, Don’t Do It) We know not everyone’s an EPCOT person. If your crew is more about thrill rides and characters, EPCOT might fall off your radar. But May is not the month to skip it. Why? Because the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is in full bloom (literally) until June 2nd. 2025 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival The topiaries are next level, the food booths are some of the best you’ll see all year, and the vibes are immaculate. It’s like EPCOT’s spring glow-up. If you didn’t plan EPCOT into your itinerary, try to rearrange things. Even just a half-day gives you time to sample some booths, snap photos with the insane floral displays, and maybe even catch a Garden Rocks concert. Don’t leave this one off the list. Expecting to Ride Test Track (It’s a No-Go) While we’re talking EPCOT, let’s rip off this band-aid now: Test Track is closed. Yup, the high-speed ride is under construction and staying that way until at least late summer 2025. So if that’s been on your must-do list, go ahead and cross it off for now. Test Track construction Disney hasn’t released a specific reopening date, just that it’ll be back “late summer,” which sounds suspiciously like “not anytime soon.” So don’t be that person who plans the whole day around riding it—because you will end up staring at construction walls instead of zipping around that outdoor track. Thinking Big Thunder Mountain is Still Running (It’s Not) Jumping over to Magic Kingdom—another closure you might not know about: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently closed for refurbishment and it’s not coming back until sometime in 2026. That’s a long ride off into the sunset. Lots of work happening on Big Thunder Mountain So if you were hoping to scream your face off on “the wildest ride in the wilderness,” sorry, but it’s not happening in May. Make sure you’ve got other thrill rides on your list—Space Mountain, TRON, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train—to fill the Big Thunder void. Planning for New Attractions… Just a Little Too Early Big things are happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — but not until the end of May. If you’re headed to the parks before May 27th, don’t expect to see the two newest shows on the block: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Both open on May 27th, and we’re expecting big crowds and major hype around them. If you’ve already booked your trip for earlier in the month, just know you’ll be juuuuust missing these new experiences. Ouch. But if you’re still on the fence about your dates and you really want to be one of the first to see these shows, it might be worth pushing your trip back just a bit. ©Disney We know — it’s a lot. May sounds simple on the surface, but Disney World is always full of those “oh no, I didn’t know that!” moments. That’s why we’ve got your back. You’re going to have a great time!! We just want you to be as prepared as possible! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
