  1. A NEW LAND themed to the Tropical Americas is coming to Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom park in 2027. Get ready to step into Pueblo Esperanza! via @bioreconstruct This new Tropical Americas-themed land will be home to both Encanto and Indiana Jones rides and more, and we simply cannot wait to experience it for the first time. While the opening may still be a ways away, we’ve been keeping up with all the construction progress — and now we have a new update! We’ve got an updated look at construction on Animal Kingdom’s new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza, thanks to our friend @bioreconstruct on Twitter/X. Work seems to be moving right along, as the walls have been cast and placed for the Casita in front of the Encanto dark ride. via @bioreconstruct Below is a different angle of the Casita, which will be the entrance to the Encanto boat ride. The ride begins just as Antonio has received his special gift, and his room becomes a beautiful rainforest. You go explore with him, and according to Disney, “You never know what member of the family you might bump into…” via @bioreconstruct In the photos below, you can see that the steel frame is being installed for the Mayan Pyramid that will be in front of the Indiana Jones ride. This version of the ride will feature a brand-new story. As described by Disney, the attraction will follow “the man with the hat” during a time when he has “recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” via @bioreconstruct Here is a slightly closer look at the steel frame. You can really start to see the pyramid taking shape! via @bioreconstruct We also got a new look at the former home of Restaurantosaurus. Disney hasn’t announced what exactly will be replacing this, but we anticipate it will be another quick-service restaurant themed to the Tropical Americas. We can’t wait to find out more! via @bioreconstruct We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates about Animal Kingdom and beyond. 2. In case you missed it, a NEW Universal resort is opening in the United States! Universal Kids Resort The resort was first announced in 2023, and we’ve followed along for every step of its development. Now, after years of waiting, we are only ONE MONTH away from the resort’s opening date! Here’s everything we know ahead of the big day. On July 1st, the Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, will officially be open! This new theme park is going to be decked out in classic Universal IP like SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek, Trolls, Grabby’s Dollhouse, and more. Previously, the company confirmed the new park will have 31 new attractions, rides, shows, meet and greets, and more for kids and families to experience. ©Universal This theme park is intended for younger guests, and it will be smaller in scale compared to the other Universal theme parks. The attractions will have lower height requirements, gentler ride profiles, and immersive environments that feel approachable rather than overwhelming for those of a younger age or who might want to test out theme parks for the first time. The new hotel! The new park will have tons of rides, but one of the most notable is Shrek and Fiona’s Happily Ogre After! It’s a family ride that takes guests through the love story of an ogre and a princess, which is a pretty famous story these days. The Shrek area will also have a splash pad called Shrek’s Swamp Splash and Smash for a fun way to cool off. Shrek and Fiona’s Happily Ogre After ©Universal In Bikini Bottom, you’ll see Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, which is a floating ride that has guests catching jellyfish with SpongeBob! The Barnacle Bus will give guests a slow sightseeing tour of the famous town. Plus, you can also find a spinning ride called Bobbing Barrels and Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, where you can get behind the wheel of an undersea vehicle. You can also find meet and greets and more splash pads in this area! ©Universal Is it really a Universal property without SOME mention of the Minions? We think no! Luckily, there’s plenty of those little guys to go around in the new park. In the Minion vs Minion section of the park, guests can find Bello Bay Cruise, a rapids ride that drops guests into the middle of the chaos, and Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby, a spinning vehicle ride built around a runaway golf game. ©Universal Guests can also meet raptors, find sensory gardens, dance with Trolls, fly high in the sky, and SO much more. The resort will also have an on-site hotel, so you never have to leave the action. Universal has already confirmed ticket prices for the new resort if you want to check it out now! We can’t wait to check out the new theme park when it finally opens on July 1st. Be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more theme park news, updates, and more. 3. Did you know that going to Disney World can actually IMPROVE your health? Cinderella Castle Yes, I’m sure for many Disney Adults, going to the parks brings immense joy. But that’s not what I’m talking about. Nope, there are actual scientific reasons that going to Disney World can be good for you, and the reasoning is fascinating! The Olfactory Benefit Let’s start things out with the smells! Disney World is full of them thanks to the parks’ smellitizers — pumps hidden around the parks that they use to add in particular scents. That’s why you get the sweet sugary smell wafting from the Main Street Confectionery or the enticing aroma of popcorn as you pass the carts. Main Street Confectionery But it doesn’t stop there! Many rides are associated with particular smells. Think of the iconic water scent on Pirates of the Caribbean, the burning of Rome on Spaceship Earth, or the delightful fresh smell you get on Flight of Passage. Soarin’ is even an entire attraction centered around different smells as you fly across the globe. On top of that, many of the Disney hotel lobbies have distinctive scents that fit with their theme — fans will go as far as purchasing candles that smell like their chosen hotel so they can feel relaxed at home. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort In a piece from the LA Times about why fans are so drawn to the Disney parks, they shared a quote from Neuropsychologist Paul Nussbaum, who said, “The brain region critical to smell is located near the hippocampus, which is an important brain structure that helps us remember.” The article went on to explain that the sensation of smell can trigger memories and our sense of smell has a stronger link to memory and emotion than any other. So, you can quite literally go to Disney, enjoy a particular scent, and then when you come home and smell it there, experiencing it again can increase your happiness and help your memory by connecting you to your vacation. Fascinating! Nostalgia Is Good for You But smell wasn’t the only thing the LA Times article discussed. “Visiting Disney parks allows people to indulge their nostalgia by immersing themselves in this reliable world filled with familiar colors, characters, smells and music,” says Erica Hepper, a lecturer of psychology at the University of Surrey in England. Pluto riding Dumbo The rewards associated with experiencing nostalgia can include “improved mood, feelings of optimism, stronger social bonds and reduced anxiety.” And experiencing nostalgia not only rewards you mentally and emotionally while you’re in Disney World, it also motivates you to return in the future. Whenever you’re home and you see a tearjerker ad for a Disney vacation or watch a classic Disney movie, you’re encouraged to experience that feeling all over again. Vacations Can Improve Your Brain Health Outside of just going to Disney World, vacations in and of themselves have a plethora of benefits. According to the Cleveland Health Clinic, the benefits of going on vacation include increasing your focus, reducing stress, and the release of the “happy hormones.” Disney’s Hollywood Studios “As a species, we struggle with monotony,” says psychologist Susan Albers, PsyD. “When we do the same thing over and over again, it can make life feel tedious. When we get stuck in a rut like that, it reduces our cognitive performance, focus and ability to be fully present in the moment.” “Taking time off is one of the best ways to become more creative, make better decisions and increase your focus,” she adds. Disney’s Animal Kingdom When you step away from your usual cycle, it gives your brain the chance to reset. Craving the serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins? Take a vacation! Literally Just the Sheer Amount of Walking And for this last one, we don’t even need a medical study…we’ve proven it ourselves! When you go to Disney World and do a full park day, you’ll likely be walking 20K steps or more. And all that walking? It’s a great way to get in some exercise and sunshine, two things that are great for your health! Prince Charming Regal Carousel If the 20,000 steps aren’t enough for you, there are plenty of other ways to incorporate exercise and fitness into your vacation. The Deluxe Resorts have fitness centers where you can work out during your trip (as well as Coronado Springs), there are running and walking trails throughout Disney property, and many fans participate in runDisney races throughout the year. Running Trail So you see, it’s totally possible for a Disney World trip to be GOOD for you! Of course, all of this data is irrelevant if your family is the type that argues all vacation long. In that case, maybe consider a solo trip to Disney instead. You know, for your health. 5 Important Reasons Why I Need This Before My Next Disney World Trip Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 4. “Celebrate Soulfully: Summer Vibes” begins on June 19 at the Disneyland Resort! This limited-time celebration showcases experiences that celebrate Black heritage and culture through music, food, and art through July 19. One of these food items, the Pineapple Upside Down Bundt Cake from Plaza Inn, is available early starting today, and we’re sharing the recipe with you! Chef Michela Gilchrist created this recipe with some inspiration from her grandfather. She said his cooking is special to her because “every recipe carries the love, culture, and tradition that shaped who I am today.” Through his recipes, Chef Michela inherited more than flavors. She inherited tradition, identity, and love. In her grandfather’s kitchen, she learned that “every recipe tells a story, and those stories became part of who I am.” Though popularized in the 20th century, pineapple upside-down cake became beloved in many Black households because it transformed simple and affordable ingredients into something that felt joyful and abundant. Served at Sunday dinners, holidays, family gatherings, and reunions, it became more than dessert. It became a sweet expression of community. This recipe makes 12 individual cakes, which makes it great for sharing or taking to summer parties. The pineapple juice in the cake batter adds tenderness to the texture of the cake and just the right amount of sweetness. If you’re using canned pineapple in the topping, save the juice when draining the pineapple and add it to the batter. All this talk of cake is making me hungry. Let’s get to the recipe! Pineapple Upside Down Bundt Cake Recipe Makes 12 servings Ingredients Topping 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted 2 cups diced fresh or canned pineapple, drained 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries Cake 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 2/3 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup pineapple juice whipped cream, for serving 12 maraschino cherries, for serving Instructions Topping Grease 12 mini bundt or muffin tins with non-stick cooking spray. Stir brown sugar and melted butter together in a small bowl. Place 2 teaspoons of butter mixture in the bottom of each muffin cup. Place 2 1/2 tablespoons diced pineapple and 2 teaspoons chopped maraschino cherries on top of butter mixture in each muffin cup. Set side. Cake Preheat oven to 350°F. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium mixing bowl. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time until incorporated. Add vanilla and mix for 1 minute on medium speed. Reduce speed to low. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture and 1/2 of the pineapple juice. Repeat until all pineapple juice and flour are used. Pour batter evenly over the diced pineapple and butter in muffin tins. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center of each cake comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully flip muffin tin over to remove cakes. Top each cake with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Serve warm or at room temperature. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby.   This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. 7. Disney World food math is a dangerous sport. One minute you’re ordering a perfectly reasonable dinner, and the next minute your receipt is long enough to qualify as a Magic Kingdom parade route. But Annual Passholders? You’ve got a new reason to make those dining reservations. Disney World Annual Pass During the limited-time V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days dining discount, Passholders can save up to 40% at select Disney World restaurants this summer. That includes a bunch of table-service spots across the parks and resorts, and yes, several of these are places where a discount can actually make a noticeable difference. We are not talking “saved enough for half a Mickey ice cream sandwich” money here. Here’s what you need to know before you start booking lunch like you’ve discovered buried treasure under Spaceship Earth. The Big Discount Deal Annual Passholders can save 40% at select Disney World restaurants from May 1st through July 31st, 2026, but there is one big catch sitting right in the middle of the table wearing a tiny napkin bib. The discount is only valid Monday through Thursday. So, if you were hoping to roll into a Saturday dinner and casually knock 40% off the check, Disney has gently closed that door and locked it with a themed key. The discount applies to the regular price of food and nonalcoholic beverages, excluding tax and gratuity. It is also dine-in only, cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions, and special events and dining packages are excluded. Passholders can use the discount for themselves and up to 3 guests. You’ll need to show your Annual Pass ID in the My Disney Experience app and a valid photo ID at the time of purchase. In short, this is a very useful discount, but it is not a free-for-all buffet coupon. EVERY Passholder Perk You Can Get Right NOW in Disney World The 10 Restaurants With 40% Off Passholders can save 40% at the following restaurants during the offer period, with meal-specific restrictions at several locations. Biergarten Restaurant Discount available for lunch only. Biergarten is a new addition to this summer’s iteration of V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days. It is already one of those places where you either “get it” immediately or someone in your group spends the meal looking mildly confused by the oompah band, the family-style German food, and the joyful indoor village energy. A 40% discount at Biergarten is worth paying attention to because it is a fixed-price meal, so your savings are more predictable. If you’ve been curious about Biergarten but never wanted to commit full-price buffet dollars, this is a pretty good excuse to go meet some schnitzel. REVIEW: It’s EPCOT’s Liveliest Restaurant, But Is There Anything Not to Love About Biergarten? Coral Reef Restaurant Discount available for dinner only. Coral Reef is one of those EPCOT restaurants that has an automatic selling point built into the wall, because you’re eating beside a massive aquarium. That does a lot of heavy lifting. The food here can be a little divisive among Disney fans, but dinner with a 40% discount changes the conversation. Suddenly, this becomes a much easier recommendation for Passholders who want a quieter EPCOT meal, a break from festival booth grazing, or a dining room that feels removed from the park chaos. Will the fish judge your entrée order? Probably. That’s between you and the aquarium. Does Coral Reef Have A Dress Code in Disney World? Garden Grill Restaurant Discount available for lunch and dinner. Garden Grill is one of the more interesting options on this list because it is a character meal, and character meals are exactly where Disney dining prices can start doing jazz hands at your wallet. This rotating restaurant in The Land pavilion serves family-style food and includes character interactions, which makes it a sneaky strong pick for Passholders traveling with kids or adults who want to see Mickey in farmer gear. And frankly, farmer Mickey deserves the respect of a statesman. Mickey Mouse at Garden Grill Garden Grill is also new to the V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days dining discount in 2026. REVIEW: As If We Needed ANOTHER Reason To Go to Garden Grill at EPCOT Hollywood & Vine Discount available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hollywood & Vine being included for all three meal periods is a huge deal. This Hollywood Studios restaurant is a buffet-style character dining spot, and depending on the meal, you may see Disney Junior characters or seasonal character looks. If you’re visiting Hollywood Studios on a weekday in June, this could be a practical way to build in a big meal, air-conditioning, characters, and a meaningful discount all at once. Minnie at Hollywood & Vine This is especially useful if your day involves kids, Toy Story Land, or the kind of midday exhaustion that makes everyone stare intently at the My Disney Experience app refreshing the Lightning Lane feature with a hope and a prayer. 8 Game-Changing Disney Vacation Club Announcements for 2026 Tiffins Restaurant Discount available for dinner only. Now this one has our attention. Tiffins is one of the best restaurants in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and often lands high on the list of Disney World restaurants that feel genuinely adult, thoughtful, and beautifully designed. This is not a “grab nuggets and keep marching” situation. This is a sit-down, breathe-for-a-second, remember-you-are-a-human-being meal. Full spread A 40% discount at Tiffins dinner is a strong offer, especially for Passholders who have skipped it in the past because it sits in that “looks lovely, costs real money” category. This is the kind of discount that can turn “maybe someday” into “grab the reservation.” NEWS: Tiffins Has a NEW Prix Fixe Burger in Disney World, but There’s a Catch Tusker House Restaurant Discount available for lunch and dinner. Tusker House is another character meal on this list, and honestly, this one can be a great use of the discount. The food is more interesting than the average theme park buffet, the character costumes are adorable, and the location makes it an easy Animal Kingdom lunch or dinner anchor. Tusker House If your Animal Kingdom day includes early rides, wandering through animal trails, and then suddenly realizing you’ve eaten nothing but a granola bar and spite, Tusker House can rescue the itinerary. With 40% off, this becomes a much more compelling pick for Passholders, especially if you’re dining with a small group. I Review Disney World Food for My Job and Character Meals Are My Olympics Boatwright’s Dining Hall Discount available for dinner only. Boatwright’s is tucked over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, which means it doesn’t always get the same hype as park restaurants or monorail resort dining. But that can work in your favor. This is a solid option if you want a quieter resort dinner, especially if you’re staying at Port Orleans or planning an evening away from the parks. It’s also a nice pick for those “I don’t want insanity, I want soul food” nights, which should be an official vacation category. Boatwright’s Dining Hall Boatwright’s is not usually the flashiest Disney dining reservation on the board, but with 40% off dinner, it starts looking much more interesting. Review: Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans Riverside — Including NEW Menu Items! Cape May Cafe Discount available for dinner only. Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a seafood-forward buffet at dinner, and this is another place where a percentage discount can actually do some work. If you’re spending the day at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, Cape May is especially convenient thanks to its location near the International Gateway and Skyliner area. This could be a smart dinner choice for Passholders planning a weekday EPCOT evening, especially if you want to escape the festival booth shuffle for one sit-down meal. Daisy at Cape May Cafe Bonus points if you pair it with a BoardWalk stroll afterward. That’s not required, but it is emotionally correct. Say Goodbye to Endless Crab Legs at Cape May Cafe in Disney World Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood Discount available for dinner. Toledo at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is one of those restaurants that still feels like a secret to some Disney World guests, despite being perched up in Gran Destino Tower looking very glamorous about it. This is a great Passholder discount pick if you want a date night, a friends’ dinner, or a meal that feels more elevated without automatically wandering into “signature dining sticker shock” territory. The views are lovely, the room is gorgeous, and with 40% off, Toledo becomes one of the strongest resort dining options in this whole deal. FULL REVIEW: Toledo – Tapas, Steak, & Seafood at Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Whispering Canyon Cafe Discount available for brunch and dinner. We have reached the Wilderness Lodge portion of the program, so please allow us to sit up straighter. Whispering Canyon Cafe is loud, silly, family-friendly, and fully committed to the bit. This is not where you go for a quiet whisper of a meal, despite the deeply suspicious name. This is where you go for skillets, antics, and enough energy to power a small frontier town. A 40% discount for brunch and dinner makes this a standout if you’re planning a resort meal, especially because Wilderness Lodge is already worth visiting just to wander through the lobby and pretend you have your life together. Do not ask for ketchup unless you are ready to live with the consequences. REVIEW: This Disney World Restaurant Once Again Proves Why It’s So Popular Don’t Forget the 20% Discounts, Too While the headline grabber here is obviously the 40% discount, Disney also confirmed a 20% discount at two Magic Kingdom restaurants during the same offer period, Monday through Thursday from May 1st through July 31st, 2026. Character Autograph Card Those restaurants are: Be Our Guest Restaurant – Lunch only The Crystal Palace – Lunch and dinner Both of these restaurants are also marked by Disney as new to the V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days dining discount in 2026. Steak Frites A 20% discount is not as dramatic as 40%, obviously, but at Magic Kingdom table-service prices, it still matters. Be Our Guest and Crystal Palace can both be pricey meals, so if you were already planning one of these reservations, the Passholder discount is worth knowing about. REVIEW: Why You Should Skip Disney World’s Be Our Guest Restaurant and Eat HERE Instead Which Discount Is Actually the Best? The best value depends on how you eat, how many people are in your party, and whether you were already planning to book one of these restaurants. For pure savings potential, character meals and fixed-price meals are probably where Passholders should look first. That makes restaurants like Garden Grill, Tusker House, Hollywood & Vine, and Biergarten especially interesting. Catch the hidden mickey? For a more elevated meal, Tiffins and Toledo are the ones we’d be circling in red pen. These are the kinds of restaurants where 40% off can make the meal feel like a very different financial conversation. Let’s go to Toledo! For resort dining, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Cape May Cafe, Boatwright’s, and Toledo give Passholders a reason to build a non-park dinner into the trip. That can be especially handy in June, when the parks can feel hot enough to melt your sunglasses directly into your face. A Few Rules Before You Book Before you start stacking reservations like you’re building a dining Jenga tower, remember the details. Harvest Feast at Garden Grill This offer is Monday through Thursday only. It is dine-in only. It applies to food and nonalcoholic beverages, but not tax or gratuity. It cannot be combined with other discounts, offers, or promotions, and Disney specifically excludes special events and dining packages like EPCOT event dining packages and Fantasmic! Dining Packages. Reservations are strongly recommended, and participating restaurants can change without notice. Also, theme park restaurants still require valid park admission and any required park reservation. Passholders can generally visit parks after 2 PM without a theme park reservation except Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays, but blockout dates still apply. So yes, the discount is exciting. But please do not arrive at Garden Grill on a blocked-out day with nothing but vibes and a dream. Disney World Is Getting NEW Annual Passholder Perks! Is This Worth Planning Around? For Annual Passholders, absolutely. A 40% dining discount is one of those perks that can meaningfully shift the way you plan a Disney World day, especially if you live nearby or visit often enough to choose your dining days strategically. If you can move a reservation from Friday to Thursday, or plan a resort dinner on a weeknight, this could save real money. Shrimp Pappardelle This is also a good reminder that Disney dining strategy is not just about finding the best restaurant. It’s about knowing when to go, what discounts apply, which meal period counts, and whether your group will actually eat enough skillet food to justify the reservation. These are sacred calculations. Spreadsheet people, this is your moment. Keep Stretching That Disney Dining Dollar If you’re an Annual Passholder heading to Disney World in June, this is a discount worth using. Ten restaurants are offering 40% off select meals Monday through Thursday, and two Magic Kingdom restaurants are offering 20% off during the same weekday window. That can turn an expensive sit-down meal into a much smarter splurge. Cue burger singing “All By Myself…” And if you want to make the most of every Disney dining dollar, don’t forget to check out the DFB Guide to Disney World Dining ebook collection. 10. Over the last several years, mobile ordering food has become an integral part of the Walt Disney World experience across all four of the property’s theme parks. However, did you know you can ALSO mobile order at Disney Springs? Lil’ Brgs That’s right, at some Disney Springs locations – both Disney-owned and not – you can order food from a click of your phone and pick it up, even from some places you wouldn’t expect. So first, let’s begin with the Disney-owned options that use Disney’s Mobile Order system: Amorette’s Patisserie: Located in Disney Springs’ Town Center area, this French-style bakery offers a litany of pastry options – including eclairs, cakes, tartes, and cookies – as well as limited-time offerings, and even specialty alcoholic beverages. B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co.: This artisanal kiosk located in the Marketplace area offers a slew of sausage and sandwich options, including a New York Pastrami Reuben, an All-Beef Quarter-Pound Hot Dog with Shaved Pastrami, a Texas Chili-Cheese Dog, and a Bacon Mac & Cheese Dog. Plain all-beef and plant-based hot dogs are also available. D-Luxe Burger: This burger enclave located in Town Center offers a slew of burger options – including plant-based – as well as monthly specialties. Goofy’s Candy Company: Perhaps most surprising to some, you can also Mobile Order from this Marketplace sweet shop. Meaning that cupcakes, candy apples, crisped rice treats, candy-coated marshmallows, cotton candy, and more are literally available at your fingertips. All the candy In addition to those Disney options, there are a few NON-Disney restaurants at Disney Springs that also offer online ordering and pickup through their respective websites. Some include: City Works Eatery: Located on Disney Springs’ West Side, this eatery offers a massive menu of American-style favorites, including appetizers like Fried Pickles, Cheese Curds, Pretzel Bites, and Maple Bacon Tots, shareable plates including flatbreads, wings, and cauliflower, burgers, salads, pastas, seafood entrees, and more. Pretzel Bites STK Steakhouse Orlando: That’s right, STK – with its large menu of steaks, seafood, and chicken entrees – offers online ordering. In fact, they even offer special Family Meal bundles! ©STK Whether you’re looking for the best Mobile Order options or simply a sit-down Disney meal, our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! Bear in mind that these non-Disney online order takeout offerings may vary, and are a bit less predictable than Disney’s relatively stable Mobile Order options. For example, at the time of this writing, the websites for both Paradiso 37 and Rainforest Cafe feature online order buttons, but neither is available for the Disney Springs location at this time. Paradiso 37 Next time you find yourself heading to Disney Springs, keep in mind that there are several eateries – both Disney and not – that offer mobile order options. 13. Dark Universe is a whole VIBE in Epic Universe, and if you love classic Universal Monsters and gothic horror, it might just be your favorite place in all of Universal Orlando (and truth is, WE LOVE IT). We’re back at The Burning Blade Tavern That comes right down to the themed food at The Burning Blade Tavern, too (and yes, it has a windmill blade that REALLY burns). Well, when we learned a new snack had arrived at the tavern, we put on our grimmest outfits and headed over to rub elbows with the monsters to check out this new food. Okay, so a little background first. The Burning Blade Tavern has this whole theme…it’s basically a hangout for monster hunters. Inside, you’ll find trophy heads of conquered monsters (no, really) and some of the implements used to take on battle with said monsters. It’s macabre, a little cheesy, and a lot of fun. Inside the Burning Blade Tavern Speaking of cheesy, the new snack is The Pyre Dip for $13.99, which is made with pulled chicken, creamy cheese, and roasted corn, topped with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and served with pita chips…and a shovel. Can we say cheesy again? Because it is SO cheesy, which you know we love. We will say that it has a slight kick, but if you can handle Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, you’ve got this. You know, overall, with the corn, it’s almost giving us esquites vibes. We also loved the seasoning on the pulled chicken. The Pyre Dip with Pita Chips The pita chips are also a nice choice because they’re not as salty as chips and they have more…dare we say BITE? The shovel is also fun, but also smart because you can just shovel the dip onto the pita chips rather than having to dip them, which makes things a little neater. We will say the portion size doesn’t make it very good for sharing, and for the price, we wish it were a little bigger. The shovel in the dip However, this is still a nice savory snack for those days you want something with a bit of a dark kick. We’ll be checking out even more new food in Epic Universe, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 14. Anyone who has been to Walt Disney World knows that there’s no shortage of essentials needed for a trip to the resort. However, some things just aren’t worth picking up at the resort. Main Street, U.S.A. Rather, many of them, the smarter play is to pick them up outside of Disney property. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Ponchos Frogg Toggs Poncho While Disney sells their own ponchos -0 and have for decades — you can find the Frogg Togg option online! We have tried A LOT of ponchos at Walt Disney World over the years, and this is BY FAR our favorite, especially for the kind of rainy weather you may find in Orlando. This poncho — available on Amazon in multiple colors, including this striking hot pink — has several features that we simply adored, which make it superior to the Disney models sold at the resort. The material allowed the rain to slip right off, and between that and the lack of sleeves, we didn’t feel steamed or hot underneath. On top of that, the poncho was large enough that our backpack was able to fit underneath it comfortably, while still keeping the bag and our backs completely covered from the rain. If all that wasn’t enough, the poncho even comes with a waterproof storage bag, meaning we were able to quickly pack it up and throw it in our backpack as soon as the storm ended without worrying about anything in there getting wet. Plus, they can be worn multiple times over. SHOP HERE Sunscreen ©Amazon Sunscreen is essential for a Disney World trip — trust us, you don’t want to end up inadvertently Disneybounding as Sebastian by the second day of your trip — but the options sold at Disney are very steeply priced. For a fraction of the cost, you can pick up whichever brand you like, like this SPF 50 Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Stick. SHOP HERE Cooling Towels Sukeen 4 Pack Cooling Towel Cooling towels similar to these Sukeen models are available in the park, for nearly double the price they can be found for on Amazon. We love these because they are inexpensive and easy to use. To activate the towel, all you’ll need to do is “soak it with water, wring it out, and shake it several times. The hyper-evaporative towel will chill you down instantly, and the magical cooling effect can last up to several hours.” SHOP HERE If you need any of these essentials for your next Disney World trip, consider picking them up on Amazon beforehand instead of picking them up at the parks, and stay tuned to DFB each week for our latest Amazon finds! 15. Summer is right around the corner, and Disney World is officially getting in the summer spirit! That means that exclusive summer menu items are being released all across the property. Disney Springs We are so excited for all these fun new items, and we recently stopped by Disney Springs to try two new summer drinks! On our last trip to Disney Springs, we visited Splitsville Luxury Lanes, the bowling alley with a surprisingly great menu, and tried two brand new drinks, including the Rocket Fuel + Bomb Pop for $17.00. This is the adult version of the classic Bomb Pop treat. Rocket Fuel + Bomb Pop The Popsicle is meant to be stirred in, and once it is, it tastes exactly like a bomb pop with a little kick from the alcohol. And that alcohol flavor is very strong in this drink, and you definitely feel that burn with every sip. This is very refreshing and a perfect drink for a hot day walking around Disney Springs. Perfect for summer! We also tried the Living the Dreamsicle + Good Humor Creamsicle Ice Cream Bar for $18.00. This is made with those classic orange and creamy vanilla flavors that transport you back to childhood summers, but with a nice kick of Rum! Living the Dreamsicle + Good Humor Creamsicle Ice Cream Bar This feels like half cocktail and half shake because of how thick and creamy the vanilla is, and we are not mad about it! We thought that this one would be overly sweet, but the Rum flavor is very strong and helps to balance out this drink really well. This creamy orange really transports us back, and we loved how delicious and nostalgic this drink was. We would definitely grab it again. Who doesn’t love an Orange Creamsicle?? We always make sure to review all the new snacks and drinks around Disney World so you can decide what you should try or skip on your next trip. 16. Here at Disney Food Blog, going to Disney World is one of our favorite things to do. We’re at Disney World almost all day, every day, 24/7, partly because it’s our job, and partly because we just love it! Walt Disney World entrance on Western Way But the one thing we don’t like about going to Disney World? Getting there! Traffic can be brutal. And we’re talking basically parked-on-the-road-for-45-minutes brutal. Last year, Disney announced their plans for road improvements to make it easier to get into the parks, and we finally have an update. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District plans to improve the intersection of Buena Vista Drive and Western Way to facilitate traffic through the area. Between commuter traffic, Disney College Program buses, and families driving to Disney World, this area is known to get pretty backed up at peak times. Disney will build a new grade-separated interchange, with Buena Vista Drive elevated above Western Way with interconnected ramps to facilitate traffic movements. ©CFTOD They also plan to widen Western Way from the State Road (SR) 429/ Western Way interchange east to the Coronado Springs Resort. The street will be widened 2.45 miles from the CFTOD/Turnpike property boundary near the SR 429/Western Way interchange to approximately 535 feet north/west of the driveway serving Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. When this project is complete, the road will expand from four lanes to six lanes. ©CFTOD Disney didn’t announce a timeline for the project last year, but now we finally know when work on the road will begin. According to a bid by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the roadwork will start on June 29th, 2026, and is projected to last 60 days, which falls on August 28th. The roads will stay open during the roadwork, but some lanes will be closed, worsening traffic. We’d recommend taking alternate routes during peak hours to avoid the roadwork! Digital signs on Western Way We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the construction progress on Western Way. 20. Walt Disney World has over 25 on-property hotels, and not all of them are created equal. Some, like the Polynesian or Contemporary, are iconic, while others, like the Value Tier resorts, with their gigantic icons, have come to symbolize the resort. However, others remain a bit more…under the radar. Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Take the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. This hotel — which opened under the name Dixie Landings back in 1992 — is “hidden” with its sister resort, Port Orleans French Quarter, at the edge of the property near Disney Springs. 21. When we’re at Disney Springs, we love going to The Edison. They have a wide variety of cocktails and entrees for lunch and dinner, but did you know they also serve brunch? Time for brunch! Their brunch is a hidden gem at Disney Springs, only served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 AM to 3 PM. So when we saw that they added a bunch of new food to their brunch menu, we had to try it! The Churrafles are $15. These are fried waffles coated in cinnamon sugar, served with vanilla cream and dulce de leche. Churrafles While the waffle itself was tasty, it was cooked to a crisp. And we don’t mean a flaky, crispy exterior; we mean on the burnt side – these were pretty tough and not easy to cut with a fork and knife. The dulce de leche was thick and creamy, but it still didn’t help with the dryness of these waffles. The cinnamon sugar was very prominent, and we really enjoyed the flavor of these. We’re hoping we just got a bad batch while they’re still perfecting the recipe. Churrafles The Sticky Monkey Bread is $16. It’s house-made apple-cinnamon brioche pull-apart bread that’s absolutely smothered in toffee caramel. Sticky Monkey Bread The brioche bread was super soft and fluffy with a ton of cinnamon mixed in, but we didn’t get any apple flavor. We struggled to pull it apart, though, and needed to use our knife and fork. The toffee caramel is the star of the show – it’s a strong mix of toffee and caramel that manages to be not too sweet, and the spongy bread soaked it up for every bite. Sticky Monkey Bread While we loved the Sticky Monkey Bread, the Churrafles caught us off guard. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney food reviews! 22. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu just released in theaters last week on May 22nd, and has been met with mixed fan reviews. ©Disney But of course, despite these reactions, everyone loves this iconic duo of Mando and Grogu. And lots of people want to know when they’ll be able to see them on their TVs at home. So let’s dive into everything we know about when this movie will be available for streaming on Disney+. It has not been announced exactly when Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will be making its Disney+ debut; however, if we take a look at some recent Disney movies, we can make a solid guess as to when we’ll be able to see the cutest guy in the galaxy (yes, we are OBSESSED with Grogu) on our screens at home. ©Disney Zootopia 2 was released in theaters on November 13th, 2025, and then came out on Disney+ on March 11th, 2026, meaning there were around five months until the Disney+ release. While the movies Hoppers, Elio, and Freakier Friday were all available on Disney+ around four months after their theater debut. Hoppers ©Disney This means that we can expect to see Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu hitting Disney+ sometime in August or September. When you look at the previous movie dates, only one was in theaters for five months: Zootopia 2. Zootopia 2 ©Disney Zootopia 2 absolutely crushed at the box office, earning over one billion worldwide and becoming the number one highest-grossing Hollywood animated film in history. Given this crazy success, that is most likely why Disney held off a little longer than normal before releasing it on streaming. Despite a successful opening weekend, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu were not able to keep up with their initial success and have been underperforming at the box office. ©Disney So, it is difficult to note exactly when it will enter the world of streaming, but we can guess it may be closer to that four-month timeline since it does not have the immense success of a film like Zootopia 2 that would encourage Disney to keep the film off of streaming a little longer. The Mandalorian and Grogu We will continue to keep you updated on all Disney news, so stay tuned with Disney Food Blog so you never miss anything! 23. For many of us, especially kids, Disney is our happy place…that place we go to in our minds when we’re stressed out and need a break from it all. And when you’re in a medical environment, feeling that is even more important. ©Disney Getting an MRI can be stressful, especially for a child who may not understand what’s going on. That’s why Disney has partnered with Philips to make MRIs less stressful for kids and make it a more pleasant experience. Walt Disney and Philips have worked together to bring Disney characters and stories directly into Philips Ambient Experience for MRI at medical facilities across 87 countries. This creates an immersive Disney-themed environment that takes a lot of the stress out of getting an MRI for a child so they can complete their scans successfully. Disney has even developed special content for medical settings, fulfilling a $100 million commitment to more than 1,700 children’s hospitals and pediatric care facilities. ©Disney Disney has even trained thousands of hospital staff members through Disney Institute programs and has provided the art and imagery for the MRI machines at no cost. The experience lets children and their families choose from characters across Disney’s properties, including classic Disney characters, Princesses, Marvel characters, Star Wars characters, and more. ©Disney MRI scans are stressful for children, especially since they require lying perfectly still for up to 40 minutes. Statistics state that 66 percent of children feel anxious during MRI scans. That means that they may need re-scans and often sedation. However, the Ambient Experience with Disney Themes has helped with that. A study shows that children’s stress levels were reduced by 43 percent, with pauses during scans dropping by 63 percent. ©Disney So how does it work? It starts before the scan, using calming lighting, sound, and visuals to help children relax, and continuing that during the exam. Children can choose their favorite Disney stories and characters to use during the experience. ©Disney “By bringing Disney stories into the MRI environment, we are helping create a setting where children can feel more at ease and remain still during scans,” said Atul Gupta, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Diagnosis and Treatment at Philips. “Reducing stress can improve the experience for young patients and their families, while helping care teams deliver efficient, high-quality imaging so they can care for more children each day, supporting better care for more people.” We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney news, so check back with AllEars again soon for more. 25. For weeks now, we’ve been seeing an increase in fuel prices, partly due to the higher price of gas all around, which has been affecting travelers who are both flying and driving to their destinations. Southwest Airlines However, the hope has been that fuel prices will fall again at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later. That would hopefully mean that the cost to fly would also go down…right? Well, according to the CEO of Southwest Airlines, the answer could be no. In a recent interview at Bernstein’s 42nd Annual Strategic Decisions Conference, Dallas News has reported that Southwest CEO Bob Jordan is reporting that, in short, even when fuel prices are lower, it’s very likely we’ll see the cost of airfare remain high. Southwest Airlines He’s quoted saying, “I think we — our network competitors, you can tell, we’re all focused on ratable production of results, steady production of results, sustainable margins. And so I do think that produces a backdrop where we’ll — there’ll be — we’ll certainly not attempt to give some of these fare increases back.” Aircraft oil and fuel make up about 29% of the costs for an airline to fly, so the increase in price has certainly had a major impact. Why wouldn’t prices be lower for consumers, though, when fuel prices are lower? Well, Bob Jordan continued on, saying that even though the cost to fly has risen exponentially, there’s been no drop off in customers flying. Because of that, the airlines figure they can continue to charge more, make more money, and won’t see any repercussions for it. Southwest Airplanes In fact, Bob Jordan went as far as to say that we could see even MORE fare increases for passengers, stating that the current rate of price increases still supposedly isn’t enough to cover the price hike on fuel. Airline prices have risen nearly 21% in the past year for consumers, and, based on what we’re hearing here, it’s very likely that they could continue to increase throughout this year. Southwest Airlines gate at Harry Reid International Airport It’s important to note that ticket prices aren’t the only way airlines have been making back money to account for the increase in fuel prices. Southwest, American Airlines, and other major airlines have also hiked up the bag fees, which has also majorly affected customers. More Recent Travel News!
