When we’re at EPCOT, we love visiting The Odyssey building. Where else can you find air conditioning, bathrooms with no line, and a shortcut to Mexico all in one place? The Odyssey Pavilion But when we stopped by The Odyssey building yesterday, we noticed a massive change. The Odyssey building might look totally different soon! When we stopped by The Odyssey building yesterday, we noticed that the building’s interior was completely roped off, and a new sign had been added! It reads “Light Lounge,” but Disney hasn’t announced what will be moving into The Odyssey building now that the Flower and Garden Festival is over. The new purple sign looks totally different! We had to get a closer look, and the sign has a bunch of futuristic blue and purple triangles that give Spaceship Earth vibes. “Light Lounge at the Odyssey” is printed in bold EPCOT-themed white text in the middle of the sign. What is Light Lounge, Disney??? While Disney hasn’t announced what’s moving into The Odyssey, we have a guess. The building is usually used as a food booth during festivals, and while there isn’t a festival in the summer, it could be a pop-up to offer more dining options during the busy season. We think Light Lounge could offer some summer-inspired light eats and drinks! Of course, it could also just serve as an air-conditioned lounge for people to take breaks in during the hot summer months, but ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see! Light Lounge We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Light Lounge. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World news! New Restaurant Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The Amazon Disney Finds We’d Instantly Buy Again
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Some products are worth every penny. We love Owalas! Others are the kind of thing you almost skip over, then end up thinking about for months after your trip because you wish you had packed them. This post is about both. We have been testing Amazon finds that genuinely made our Disney World days easier, and these are the ones we would buy all over again without hesitation. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Your Ice Is Still There the Next Morning. No, Really. Little Mermaid Owala If you have ever spent a full park day in the Florida sun, you already know that hydration is not optional. The problem is that most water bottles let you down when the heat hits hardest. The Owala Disney Princess FreeSip Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle in the Ariel colorway is not that bottle. We put ice in at 8 AM, spent a full day outside in the heat, and still had ice the next morning at 10 AM. The FreeSip design gives you two ways to drink: a hidden built-in straw for sipping on the go and a wide-mouth opening when you want to chug. We refilled it about five times on a full park day, skipped $5 water stops entirely, and drank in line whenever we felt like it. It’s also completely leak-free. The subtle Ariel-inspired colorway with a touch of glitter keeps things fun without being over the top. The only complaint we have is wanting it in an even bigger size. view ON AMAZON This Is What Saves You When Your Phone Dies at 11am INIU Portable Charger Here is the scenario: rope drop was three hours ago, your phone has been running nonstop, and the battery is already at 22% before lunch. The INIU 45W Fast Charging Portable Charger is the solution we have been carrying. We are typically Anker users, but this slim, compact power bank changed our minds. At 10,000mAh, it delivers close to two full phone charges and can push an iPhone to 76% in just 30 minutes. It has both USB-C and standard USB-A ports for charging multiple devices at once, a detachable braided cable you can swap out if needed, and a small built-in flashlight toggled by double-tapping the power button. It charges fully in a few hours, does not set off security alarms at bag check, and costs around $20. The only thing it is missing is an included charging block, so grab one when you order. view ON AMAZON The Thing That Makes Florida Summer Actually Bearable AMKEN Waist Fan There are days at Disney World in July when no amount of shade or ice water is enough. For those days, the AMKEN Waist Fan is the product we never expected to love as much as we do. At $25, it delivers a genuinely powerful blast of cooling air at three speed settings, and on high, it is the only setting worth using if you are dealing with serious heat. We clipped it to our shorts and it stayed put all day. We also propped it on a tray at a quick-service restaurant and aimed it directly at our face, which was a perfect move. It doubles as a power bank with USB-C and USB-A ports, and it has a built-in LED flashlight with a flashing hazard mode. After nearly two hours of continuous use on high, all three battery indicator lights were still lit. The one honest trade-off is noise. It is impressively quiet for how powerful it is, but it is not silent. After a while, the hum becomes noticeable. That said, when it is 95 degrees and you are standing in the sun, you will not care even slightly. We came into this review expecting to be skeptical of a no-name product, and we left completely converted. view ON AMAZON Four MagicBands, One Outlet, Zero Stress MultiCharger for MagicBand+ Hotel room outlets at Disney resorts disappear fast. Between phones, tablets, and MagicBand+ chargers, you can run out of spots before the night is over. The MultiCharger for MagicBand+ solves that problem cleanly. It lets you charge up to four MagicBand+ devices from a single USB-A outlet, and it also works with standard Apple and Android charging cables so you can mix and match. It is small enough to fit in a sling bag or fanny pack, CE certified so it will not overheat, and specifically designed to be compatible with MagicBand+, unlike generic USB hubs that sometimes are not. For families with multiple bands, this is the kind of small purchase that pays for itself the first night. view ON AMAZON A Fan That Fits in Your Pocket and Charges Your Phone JISULIFE 3 IN 1 Handheld Mini Fan Not everyone wants to clip something to their waistband, and for those days when you just need a little relief, the JISULIFE 3 in 1 Handheld Mini Fan is the lightweight answer. It folds down so the blades tuck away completely, making it small enough for any pocket or bag. Open it to 180 degrees, and it works as a handheld fan. Open it to 270 degrees, and it props up on a surface as a desktop fan. It also functions as a backup power bank for your phone and has a built-in flashlight. With up to 19 hours of cooling time on a single charge, it can cover a full park day without issue. It will not replace a heavy-duty waist fan on the most brutal July days, but for mild heat or indoor stretches, it is a genuinely clever little travel tool. view ON AMAZON You Will Get Rained On. Be the Prepared One. Frogg Toggs Poncho Florida afternoon thunderstorms at Disney World are practically guaranteed in the summer, and they arrive fast. The FROGG TOGGS Ultra-lite2 Waterproof Breathable Rain Poncho is the one to keep in your bag. It weighs just nine ounces and compacts into its own included stuff sack, so it takes up almost no space until you need it. The attached hood has adjustable cord locks and side snaps for full coverage in heavy rain. It is waterproof, breathable, and far less miserable to wear than a plastic emergency poncho from a gift shop. Tuck it into your park bag before you leave the hotel and forget about it until the sky opens up. view ON AMAZON Park Ears That Won’t Give You a Headache by Noon ODOCARE Handmade Mouse Ears Headband If you or someone in your group has ever complained that Disney’s park ears are too heavy or too tight after a few hours, the Handmade Mouse Ears Headband from Amazon is worth a serious look. These are classic Minnie-style ears in solid black with a red and white polka dot bow, and they are noticeably lighter and more comfortable than what you will find on park shelves. The material is soft and a little fuzzy, and the fit is flexible enough for most head sizes. They are not a perfect replica of official park merchandise, and you can tell when you feel the headband fabric up close, but the ears themselves hold up well in terms of style and comfort. They are a fraction of the price and a solid choice for anyone who wants the look without the headache, literally. view ON AMAZON The right gear makes a real difference at Disney World, and none of these will break the bank. Whether you are battling the heat, racing against a dead phone battery, or just trying to stay dry and comfortable, these Amazon finds have proven themselves on actual park days. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article -
In recent weeks, the U.S. State Department has issued a series of new travel advisories warning Americans about traveling abroad. U.S. Department of State According to the State Department, its travel advisories provide detailed destination-specific travel and risk information to allow U.S. citizens to make informed international travel decisions. U.S. embassies and consulates across the globe provide services that support the welfare and protection of U.S. citizens abroad. The most serious of the latest Travel Advisories is a Level 2 warning for Mexico, recommending travelers “Exercise Extreme Caution” due to risks associated with crime, kidnapping and hostage taking, and terrorism. According to the agency, “many violent crimes take place in Mexico. They include homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, sexual assault, and robbery. There is a risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other activity in Mexico… The U.S. government has limited ability to help in many parts of Mexico, a large country in which conditions can vary widely from state to state and even within a state. U.S. government employees may not travel to certain high-risk areas, which may be within states that include low-risk areas.” While the country overall is now a Level 2, the State Department does classify certain areas within the country as Level 1s, Level 3s, and Level 4s. In the map below, the areas are divided by color. Blue calls for travelers to “Exercise normal precautions”, yellow is “Exercise increased caution”, orange is “Reconsider travel”, and red is “Do not travel.” The State Department’s Mexico Travel Advisories In addition to Mexico’s Level 2 designation, Cyprus, Andorra, the Cayman Islands, and the Marshall Islands have all received Level 1 Travel Advisories. The agency offers the following tips for U.S. citizens who do decide to visit Mexico: Drug possession or importation of drugs, including medical marijuana, is illegal. Do not bring e-cigarettes, vaping devices, or illegal drugs into the country. Bringing weapons, including guns, ammunition, swords, knives, fireworks, and explosives into Mexico without permits issued by the Mexican government is a serious crime. When approaching any checkpoint, cooperate. Avoid any behavior that appears aggressive. Fleeing can raise suspicion and lead to violence. Costs for medical care in Mexico may be higher than expected. Most hospitals will not release patients until their bill is paid in full. ©U.S. State Department In the late spring of 2026, the U.S. State Department updated its Travel Advisories for 5 countries, including Mexico. We love going to Animal Kingdom to see all the adorable animals. There are so many cute critters, from flamingos and otters to kangaroos and giraffes. If you’re also an animal lover, then Disney just released the best news you’ll hear all week! ©Disney Disney just named their new baby giraffe at Animal Kingdom – meet Ivy! Ivy was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this April at 120 pounds and nearly six feet tall. This little Masai giraffe is being kept backstage at the park until she’s old enough to make her debut on the savanna of Kilimanjaro Safaris. ©Disney All of the giraffes at Animal Kingdom have tree-themed names, since the majority of their diet is tree leaves! Ivy’s mom is named Willow after the Willow tree, and another member of their herd is Maple after Maple trees. The giraffe care team at Animal Kingdom came up with a list of 12 tree-themed names until they settled on Ivy! ©Disney If you’re a baby giraffe fan, then you’re probably familiar with Tucker, Ivy’s half-brother! Tucker was born last year and quickly became a popular new addition to the African savanna. He would often be seen with their shared dad, and they had so many cute moments together. After all, who can say this little guy isn’t adorable? ©Disney Masai giraffes are classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, with only around 30,000 left in the wild, so every new calf is a big step toward protecting the future of this incredible species. Ivy’s birth adds to the Masai giraffe family tree, keeping the population healthy and thriving so little ones (like her!) can keep towering over the savanna for generations to come. Between Mickey-shaped treats, memorable meals with characters, and can’t-miss snacks, dining is part of the fun at Walt Disney World. Disney Dining Plans make it easier to savor it all, and starting with 2027 vacations, you can customize your dining experience even more with the new Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan. Why Should I Get a Dining Plan? A dining plan makes vacation planning feel simpler and lets you enjoy more of the dining fun along the way. Disney Dining Plans are designed to add convenience and flexibility by letting you prepay for meals and snacks so you can indulge in your favorite foods without checking the menu prices. Hot Honey Chicken Waffle? You’re in. A Rapunzel Sundae? Say less. Both of these delicious treats and way more are included in a dining plan. Intrigued? Here’s a guide to everything you need to know about Disney Dining Plans. How do Dining Plans Work? Dining Plans are purchased as part of your stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. You can add them before your vacation online, through a cast member at our call center or via your travel professional. For everyone in your party ages 3 and over, dining plans include a set number of meals and snacks based on the number of nights of your resort stay. Meals and snacks can be redeemed at any time during your stay, with unused meals rolling over day-to-day until midnight on your check-out day. That means you are not limited to a specific number of meals per day. You can mix and bundle your meals to fit your schedule. Once you’re at a dining location, just let the cast member know that you are using a dining plan and they will handle the rest. Which Dining Plan is Right for Me? For 2027, you can choose from three dining plans depending on your vacation style. Whether your family is all about grab-and-go meals to stay in the action or you want extra time around the table, we have an option for you. Quick-Service Dining Plan Great for guests who want fewer reservations and more time for fun. What does it come with? 2 quick-service meals per night of stay 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of stay 1 resort-refillable drink mug (per guest per stay) Table-Service Dining Plan A nice balance of sit-down meals and on-the-go favorites. What does it come with? 1 table-service meal per night of stay 1 quick-service meal per night of stay 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of stay 1 resort-refillable drink mug (per guest per stay) NEW for 2027: Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan Perfect for guests who want to enjoy three meals per day or signature dining experiences. What does it come with? 2 table-service meals per night of stay 1 quick-service meal per night of stay 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of stay 1 resort-refillable drink mug (per guest per stay) What is a Quick-Service Meal vs a Table-Service Meal? Quick-service meals are locations where you order at a counter. Think Connections Eatery at EPCOT or Flame Tree Barbecue at Animal Kingdom. These spots use one quick-service meal and are perfect for grabbing a tasty meal, then getting right back to the fun. Table-service meals are restaurants where you are seated and served, often a great choice for a mid-day break, a celebratory meal, or one of those unforgettable dining moments that become part of the vacation story. Spots like Tony’s Town Square Restaurant at Magic Kingdom or 50’s Prime Time Café at Hollywood Studios are delicious examples and cost one table-service meal. Reservations are highly recommended for table-service locations and, since you are staying at a Disney resort, you have first access to book your dining reservations – up to 60 days in advance of your check-in day – for the entire length of your stay. Character dining and signature dining experiences, like table-service restaurants, offer a relaxed meal around a table. However, they come with a magical twist, such as a Disney character coming to your table or refined cuisine from award-winning chefs. These experiences can use up to two table-service meals, so if restaurants like Story Book Dining at Artist Point within Wilderness Lodge or Tiffins Restaurant at Animal Kingdom are must-dos during your vacation, consider the Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan, which offers greater flexibility to enjoy these locations. Our Dining Plan Tips Keep track of your meals via the My Disney Experience app, on dining receipts or by asking a cast member at your resort front desk or a guest relations location. Your table-service meal meals can also be used at quick-service restaurants, giving you even more flexibility if your plans change or you want to grab a meal on the go. Don’t forget your refillable drink mug when spending time at your resort! You can get easy refills on all sorts of drinks during your stay, from water to soda and even coffee. Ready to Start Planning? Whether your dream vacation includes quick bites between attractions, a favorite character dining experience, or even more time to savor sit-down meals, there’s a Disney Dining Plan to match. And when you stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, adding a dining plan can be one more convenient perk of your onsite vacation experience. It seems like 2026 is just not a good year for travel. You can’t ignore the rising costs of gas, so road trips are a lot more expensive. Of course, this has also led to rising costs for air travel, with many airlines struggling to keep up. One popular budget airline, Spirit, has gone completely out of business this year. American Airlines Other airlines are doing what they can to get by, which generally means cancelling flight routes. Delta Airlines recently cut flights, while other airlines are starting to follow suit. According to CBS News, this includes American Airlines, which just cut six of its routes. American Airlines is temporarily cutting routes due to the rising cost of jet fuel caused by the ongoing war in Iran. It has adjusted schedules for “select routes” in August and September because of elevated fuel costs. However, the airline stressed that the cuts would not be permanent. American Airlines Planes The affected routes that are being temporarily cut are: Los Angeles to Cleveland Los Angeles to Columbus Los Angeles to Pittsburgh Los Angeles to Washington Dulles Charlotte to Ontario Charlotte to Sacramento Note that this could affect some Disneyland trips to those who fly into Los Angeles (although we’ve found way better airports for Disneyland). ©American Airlines The cost of jet fuel is a large part of an airline’s operating costs. Some airlines have responded to rising fuel costs with added surcharges or higher ticket prices, while also canceling routes that are considered unprofitable. American Airlines will take care of customers with tickets on the routes affected by either rebooking them on a different flight or offering a full refund. We’ll keep an eye on the air travel situation and let you know when it changes, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 5 Travel Essentials We’re Never Flying Without Again Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! EPCOT’s France Pavilion is dangerous in the way only a place full of pastries, champagne, ice cream, and tiny Parisian streets can be dangerous. Remy Fountain You think you’re just walking through. Maybe you’ll grab a croissant. Maybe you’ll wave politely at the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Maybe you’ll make one responsible snack choice and continue your mature, balanced World Showcase day. France is one of those EPCOT pavilions that rewards people who know how to look past the obvious. Yes, the bakery is famous. Yes, the slushes get plenty of attention. Yes, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has turned the back of the pavilion into a full-on destination. But France also has breakfast before most of World Showcase fully wakes up, a sneaky champagne stop hiding in plain sight, serious sit-down dining, underrated savory bites, and one ice cream sandwich situation that deserves its own little fanfare. France Pavilion So let’s eat around EPCOT’s France Pavilion the smart way. Not the frantic way. Not the “I panicked and ordered the prettiest thing in the case” way. The DFB way. Start Before World Showcase Gets Its Act Together Here is one of the biggest France Pavilion rules — do not sleep on breakfast. Les Halles Croissant Most of World Showcase tends to feel like it’s still stretching and looking for coffee before 11 AM, but France is one of the rare places where you can actually start your eating day early. Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie is typically open before most of the other World Showcase dining locations, which makes it a major win if you’re entering through International Gateway. Another great thing about these resorts? They’re super close to the Skyliner route! And if you’re staying at one of the EPCOT-area hotels or arriving by Disney Skyliner, this is the move. You can walk into EPCOT, dodge the full front-of-park morning scramble, and start your day with coffee and a pastry instead of a granola bar you found crushed at the bottom of your park bag. We believe in standards. Les Halles The bakery can get busy fast, but early morning is often one of the best times to hit it. Grab a croissant, pain au chocolat, quiche, or one of those glossy little desserts that make you briefly consider abandoning all American breakfast norms. France said, “What if breakfast had laminated dough and dignity?” and honestly, fair. We’ve Eaten at Every EPCOT Restaurant. These Are the BEST. Les Halles Is Not Just A Dessert Stop A lot of guests treat Les Halles like a dessert case with a roof. Understandable. The pastries are beautiful, the mousse cakes look like they went to finishing school, and the Napoleon is sitting there being layered and dramatic. Les Halles Spread But the real pro move is remembering that Les Halles also has savory food. This is where you can get sandwiches, quiche, soup, croissants with ham and cheese, cheese plates, and other items that can work as a lighter lunch or a shareable snack stop. That matters because France can get very sugar-heavy very quickly if your plan is pastry, ice cream, crepe, champagne, then another pastry because “it looked lonely.” Some Les Halles Favs Some of our favorite strategic orders here are the ones that keep you from crashing later. A quiche and coffee? Excellent. A ham and cheese croissant? Very EPCOT-adult behavior. A baguette sandwich split between two people? Sensible, which is not always our brand, but occasionally saves the day. Jambon Beurre The seating is the tricky part. Les Halles can feel like everyone in the pavilion had the same idea at the exact same time. If you see a seat and you need a seat, take the seat. EPCOT does not give medals for standing nobly while holding a tray of pastry and regret. REVIEW: We Tried 5 (!!!) EPCOT Snacks at Les Halles — Here’s What You Should NOT Skip, Even When the Line Is Out the Door Don’t Skip the Back of the Pavilion France is not a “stand in the front, take one picture, leave” pavilion. France is a “keep walking because the good stuff is farther back” pavilion. This became even more true once the expanded France area opened with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, La Crêperie de Paris, and Crêpes À Emporter. A lot of guests still treat that back corner like it only exists if they have a ride return time, which is their mistake and our snack advantage. La Crêperie de Paris Back there, you’ll find one of the easiest ways to turn France into an actual meal instead of a sugar crawl. Crêpes À Emporter is the quick-service window connected to La Crêperie de Paris, and it serves both sweet crêpes and savory galettes. That distinction is important. A sweet crepe is lovely. A savory galette can be lunch. Who’s ready to eat? You can grab options like ham and cheese, ratatouille, or brie, depending on the current menu, and suddenly you’ve made a much smarter choice than “I will survive on caramel and optimism.” Pair it with cider, wine, or water if your body has started sending polite legal notices. REVIEW: EPCOT Has a GIANT New Savory Crepe and It’s Exactly as Amazing as It Sounds Pick Your Crepe Strategy France has two crepe options, and they serve two different purposes. Crêpes À Emporter is the quick-service move. This is best when you want something faster, portable, and less committed. It’s a good snack-lunch hybrid, especially if you’re already back there for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure or you want something that feels more substantial than another dessert. Line for Crepes La Crêperie de Paris is the sit-down version. This is the better option when your group needs a break, your feet have joined a union, or you want the meal to feel more intentional. It serves savory buckwheat galettes, sweet crepes, and French hard cider, which gives it a very specific vacation rhythm. The kind where you sit down and briefly convince yourself you are a person who makes elegant decisions. Brut and Cappuccino Here is the rule: do not book La Crêperie just because it exists. Book it because your day needs that kind of pause. If you’re trying to graze your way through World Showcase, the window may be the better move. If you want a real meal and a reset, the restaurant makes more sense. Holy Crepe! You Can Now Get Married in the France Pavilion in Disney World! L’Artisan des Glaces Is the Sweet Spot People Still Miss L’Artisan des Glaces should be louder in the EPCOT snack conversation. Not physically louder. The space is already tiny enough when the line forms. I mean, spiritually louder. This little ice cream shop is tucked back in the pavilion, and it is one of the best France stops for people who want something colder, creamier, and less bakery-case obvious. You can get scoops of ice cream or sorbet, but the true heavy hitters are the specialty items. France Pavilion The Croque Glacé is the one to know. It’s a scoop of ice cream with sauce inside a warm pressed brioche. Hot, cold, soft, melty, ridiculous. EPCOT looked at a standard ice cream sandwich and said, “Yes, but give it a French accent.” Inside of the Croque Glace There’s also the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich and the Ice Cream Martini, which is one of those menu items that sounds like someone lost a bet in the best possible way. Ice cream plus alcohol plus whipped cream is not subtle, but France has never asked us to be subtle. It’s beginning to melt a bit One warning: this is usually more of a midday or evening stop than a breakfast move, so check current hours in the My Disney Experience app before you start mentally committing to ice cream at 10 AM. 9 Things I Regret Impulse Buying in EPCOT Les Vins Is Hiding in Plain Sight Now let’s talk about one of the sneakiest France Pavilion details: Les Vins de France. Les Vins de France A lot of guests walk into the shop area thinking they’re just going to browse kitchenware, bottled wine, and assorted French goods. Which is already a fine little side quest. We support a themed shop wander, especially when air-conditioning is involved. But Les Vins is not just a retail stop. You can also get wine or champagne by the glass, and depending on the current offerings, you may find champagne flights or other sparkling options. Cheers! This is exactly the kind of EPCOT secret that makes people feel like they’ve unlocked a hidden level. It’s not a giant bar with neon arrows. It’s quieter, tucked away, and very easy to miss if you’re only looking for the obvious slush line outside. This is also a great option if you want a more relaxed adult drink stop without committing to a full restaurant reservation. Grab a glass, slow down, and enjoy the fact that EPCOT sometimes hides its best tricks behind merchandise. The Slushes Are Famous for a Reason, But Have a Plan We need to talk about the France slushes because they are iconic. The Grand Marnier Orange Slush and Grey Goose Citron Lemonade Slush have been EPCOT staples for years, and yes, they can be delightful on a hot day. But here is the unspoken rule: don’t make the slush your whole France plan. Grand Marnier Orange Slush They’re popular, they’re easy, and they’re right there, which means a lot of people stop at the first shiny frozen drink and then move on. That’s not wrong. It’s just incomplete. If you’re doing France properly, the slush can be one chapter. Maybe you grab one while wandering, then circle back later for L’Artisan des Glaces. Maybe you skip it and go for champagne instead. Maybe you split one because you still want to function in the next pavilion. France has layers. Frozen citrus is only one of them. Chefs de France Is the Classic Reset Chefs de France is the sit-down restaurant most guests know, and for good reason. It has that brasserie look, big windows, classic French dishes, and a location right in the heart of the pavilion. Chefs de France This can be a smart lunch or dinner choice if you want France to be your actual meal instead of your snack chapter. It’s also useful when your group includes people who want something familiar but still themed. French onion soup, roasted chicken, steak, desserts, wine. Nothing about that is mysterious, and sometimes “not mysterious” is exactly what you need in the middle of an EPCOT day. Poulet Cordon Bleu The best use of Chefs de France is as a planned break. It is not the place I’d choose if I were trying to keep moving through every pavilion, but it works beautifully when you want to sit, cool down, eat something real, and avoid balancing a pastry box on a trash can like a raccoon with a park ticket. 5 Rules You’re Accidentally Breaking in EPCOT Monsieur Paul Is Not Your Backup Dinner Monsieur Paul is the fancy one. Located upstairs from Chefs de France, Monsieur Paul is a signature dining experience with a prix fixe menu and a much more elevated feel. This is not the place you wander into because someone got cranky, and the quick-service line looked long. Monsieur Paul This is your special-occasion France meal. Anniversary, milestone birthday, celebratory splurge, “we planned this on purpose and wore nicer shoes” energy. It’s also a very different choice from the rest of the pavilion because it asks more of your time, money, and appetite. Beef Tenderloin at Monsieur Paul That doesn’t make it better or worse than the other France options. It just makes it specific. The unspoken rule here is simple: book Monsieur Paul when the meal is the event. Don’t book it when France is just one stop on a larger snack lap. Come With Us To Try One of the FANCIEST Meals in Disney World — Monsieur Paul Festival Booths Are the Bonus Round France is already strong year-round, but during EPCOT festivals, the pavilion often gets even more interesting. Depending on the festival, you may find an outdoor kitchen or special seasonal items in or near the France Pavilion. Menus change, names change, and offerings rotate, so don’t treat any one festival item like it’s guaranteed forever. EPCOT festival menus are little culinary mayflies. Beautiful, fleeting, occasionally covered in sauce. 2025 France Booth But the strategy remains the same: check the current festival menus before committing to a full meal. France Booth Spread If France has a festival booth with something savory or a standout dessert, that might change your whole plan. Maybe you skip a heavier lunch and snack through the booth instead. Maybe you split a festival item and save room for L’Artisan. Maybe you decide the festival item is not calling to you and head straight to Les Halles like a person with clarity. Food and Wine Festival France Booth! Look at the menu first. Then make your snack decisions. This is how we avoid accidental pastry pileups. My Biggest Mistakes I Will NOT Be Repeating at the 2026 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Build Your France Crawl Like a Pro The best way to eat around France is not to order something from every single location in one chaotic sweep. That is not strategy. That is a butter-based obstacle course. Instead, build your France Pavilion crawl in chapters. Ratatouille Entrance Start early with Les Halles if you’re entering through the International Gateway. Coffee and a croissant, quiche, or breakfast-style croissant will make you feel like the day has promise. Croissant Later, go savory. That might mean a galette from Crêpes À Emporter or a light lunch at Chefs de France. The goal is to avoid turning your entire pavilion experience into dessert with a passport. For your afternoon treat, head to L’Artisan des Glaces. This is when the Croque Glacé starts sounding less like a snack and more like a calling. Pumpkin Ice Cream Then, if you’re doing an adult beverage stop, choose your lane. Slush for iconic and frozen. Les Vins for quieter and more tucked-away. Cider with crepes for the Brittany angle. Wine at dinner if you’re sitting down. And through all of this, keep checking the app. Hours, menus, and availability can change, and nothing ruins a snack plan faster than marching confidently toward a closed door. 8 EPCOT Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know Don’t Treat France Like a Quick Pastry Stop Here is the biggest mistake people make in France — they reduce the whole pavilion to one bakery line. We love Les Halles. We’ve been known to rope drop Les Halles. We have absolutely made eye contact with a pastry case and understood our purpose in life. But France is more than Les Halles. Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie It’s savory galettes in the back. It’s ice cream pressed inside warm brioche. It’s a hidden champagne stop inside a shop. It’s a casual brasserie lunch. It’s an upstairs signature dinner. It’s a festival booth surprise. It’s a pavilion that knows exactly how pretty it is and still has the nerve to be useful. Champagne pours So wander deeper. Look inside the shops. Check the menus. Split items. Sit when you need to. Don’t let the first line you see make all your decisions for you. France is doing more than posing for pictures. Give it the time it deserves. 6 NEW Unspoken Rules for Drinking Around the World at EPCOT Au Revoir, Snack Amateur Hour Eating around EPCOT’s France Pavilion is not about grabbing one croissant and calling it a day. It’s about timing, pacing, and knowing where the good stuff is hiding. Start early if you can. Use Les Halles for more than dessert. Don’t ignore the savory crepes. Find L’Artisan des Glaces. Treat Les Vins like the secret little champagne stop it is. Save Chefs de France for a true sit-down reset, and save Monsieur Paul for the kind of meal that deserves its own calendar reminder. France Pavilion Most of all, don’t rush it. France is one of those EPCOT pavilions that gets better when you slow down and poke around. And really, if a Disney day tells you to eat a warm brioche ice cream sandwich, drink champagne in a shop, and call it research, who are we to argue? Disney is always pushing the boundaries of technology as to what it can do in its parks and with its experiences. This is how we got such groundbreaking rides like Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is also why we’ve got cute little robots wandering around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. ©Disney Well, Disney is continuing to expand what it can do with technology, and a new patent just filed by the company could hint at what some of its future rides might look like. Disney just filed a new patent for a “Projection System Including a 3-D Extendable Projection Surface.” This patent includes a computing system with hardware and system memory storing code, as well as a projection unit controlled by the computing system with a 3-D extendable projection surface with an extending end and a non-extending end. In layman’s terms, Disney has filed a patent for a system that can create large-scale effects in scenes without ruining immersion. ©Disney For a real-world example, imagine effects like weather, geysers, and changing terrain (and, yes, this immediately made us think of one of the new Cars rides coming to Magic Kingdom). In current rides, Disney does this with projection surfaces that are static…they don’t move. So you see those props before and after the effects, which kinda ruins the scene. So Disney is trying to solve that problem by creating a movable projection system that can hide itself when it’s not in use, with an automatically-controlled process. ©Disney So how would Disney make this work? The 3-D projection unit would have a fabric stretched over it with rings. Then the system would extend or retract using cables. So when an effect is used, it forms either a cone, pyramid, or funnel shape. To disappear from view, the rings lay flat, which would keep the projection unit from being seen. So the effect happens, and the projection unit disappears immediately after. Of course, there are also some highly technical things going on, like projectors, strobe lights, lighting, and more, to make the effect come to life. Disney even built in a way for it to be something guests could interact with. ©Disney The patent shows four examples of effects it could use with this technology: a tornado forming and touching down, a fountain or mountain rising, a growing plant or tree limb, and a character’s arm reaching out. So, pretty much, the possibilities are endless. Being that Disney has many new rides in the works, including the Cars rides and rides for Villains land in Magic Kingdom, new Avengers Campus rides in Disneyland, and more, this technology could be put to good use soon. ©Disney We’ll have to see what Disney comes up with for all these new rides, but it will be interesting to see how ideas from patents like this end up getting used. We’ll keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Here at Disney Food Blog, we love Disneyland. The park’s iconic attractions can take you through a small world, soar in space, and tour a haunted mansion. But even the Happiest Place on Earth will experience some ride interruptions! Haunted Mansion in Disneyland That’s what happened to Disneyland guests riding the Haunted Mansion on Wednesday, May 27th, when they were forced to self-evacuate the ride by themselves! This interruption to the classic dark ride left guests fending for themselves in a twist that has left former Cast Members shaking their heads in disbelief. “We ask that you hop out of your buggy and find the nearest exit,” a Haunted Mansion cast member said over the intercom system inside the attraction. “If you can, there is a latch on the left-hand side that you can press down to open the clamshell.” The video showed Disneyland visitors squeezing past the lap bars on the closed ride vehicles and walking around the Haunted Mansion cemetery set amid moving animatronic figures and props. Disney just made it a whole lot easier to justify keeping up with every Marvel series, Star Wars drop, and animated classic in your watchlist. ©Disney Right now, you can save over 50% on a Disney+ and Hulu Bundle subscription, and the deal is available to both new subscribers and eligible returning ones. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about bundling your streaming services, this is the push you’ve been waiting for. Here’s everything you need to know about the current offer and how to take advantage of it. What’s the Deal, Exactly? Disney is currently offering a discounted 6-month subscription plan for the Disney+ and Hulu Bundle, paid out in monthly installments. Depending on which tier you choose, the savings are significant: 50% off the standard Disney+ Hulu Bundle and 52% off the Disney+ Hulu Bundle Premium, compared to what you’d pay buying Disney+ and Hulu separately. ©Disney That’s not a rounding error. That’s genuinely half off, and it’s available right now. How Do You Sign Up? The process is pretty straightforward. Head to Disney+, sign up for an account (or log into an existing eligible one), and choose a Disney+ Hulu bundle plan. Once you’re in, you’ll be prompted to select a billing cadence. You’ll see two options: 6 months billed monthly or 1 month billed monthly. ©Disney To lock in the best savings, choose the 6-month plan. That’s the option that gets you to that 50%-plus discount territory, so don’t accidentally click past it. Does ESPN Come With This Offer? This is worth flagging upfront so there are no surprises at checkout: ESPN is not included in this particular deal. The 6-month discounted bundle is exclusive to the Disney+, Hulu Bundle and the Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium. If you’re specifically after the ESPN add-on, this isn’t that offer. ©Disney For Disney fans who primarily want access to Disney+ and Hulu content together, though, this bundle covers plenty of ground. You’ll still get all the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic content on Disney+, plus Hulu’s full library alongside it. Who Can Get This Offer? The good news is that eligibility isn’t limited to brand-new subscribers. Both new subscribers and eligible returning subscribers can take advantage of this pricing. That means if you’ve subscribed before but aren’t currently active, you may still qualify. ©Disney It’s worth checking your eligibility directly on the Disney+ site if you’re not sure where you stand, since returning subscriber qualifications can vary. Is This Offer Going Away Soon? Disney is describing this as an “ongoing offer” rather than a flash sale tied to a specific end date, which is a little different from the usual limited-window promos. That said, “ongoing” doesn’t mean “forever,” and Disney has a well-established history of adjusting pricing and promotions without a ton of advance notice. ©Disney If this deal is on your radar, sooner is smarter than later. The Bottom Line Saving over 50% on a Disney+ and Hulu Bundle subscription is a genuinely strong deal, especially if streaming costs have started to feel like they’re adding up. Locking in 6 months at a discounted monthly rate gives you a long runway to enjoy everything both platforms have to offer without the full price tag. Whether you’re catching up on the latest Disney+ originals or exploring Hulu’s library, this bundle makes a lot of financial sense right now. We have been patiently (okay, not so patiently) awaiting more news on a MAJOR change coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. ©Disney Disney FINALLY gave us new information about the upcoming Monsters Inc. Land, and we are getting seriously excited about what’s to come. One thing we noticed in their big announcement? A few hints about when we could get MORE major news. In case you missed it, Disney gave us some BIG information about Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios. They finally revealed the story behind the land by saying, “Monstropolis — the monster city now powered by laughter — is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from their world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … why are the doors finally opening to us?” ©Disney After Mike and Sulley have discovered that laughter is more powerful than screams, they’re bringing on a city-wide shift by introducing H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day! The way monsters and humans view each other has changed, so the monsters formed the Department of Human Relations to help build a relationship between the two groups. ©Disney Disney shared the adorable news in a newspaper-style graphic from the Monstropolis Horn. As we were searching through the details of the paper, we noticed something very specific hidden away at the top. At the very top of the paper, there are two sections. One states, “Local Restaurants Comment on New Menu Development,” and the other says, “Glob Theater Show Begins Rehearsals Ahead of H.U.M.A.N. Day.” Below both of these, we noticed that it says Page 8, Col. 15. ©Disney Disney mentioning this twice definitely made our spidey sense tingle because they do everything intentionally. What takes place on August 15th (8/15), oh, only something called the Disney Experiences Showcase! If you don’t know what that is, it’s arguably the biggest aspect of the D23 Expo in Anaheim. This is the panel where Disney reveals massive announcements about things like the Disney theme parks worldwide, Disney Cruise Line expansions, and new immersive experiences. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event In the past, this is when they’ve revealed major news like the upcoming Villains Land, Piston Peak, the Beak and Barrel, the reimagined Test Track, Geo-82, and even the Monsters Inc. Land! So it’s safe to say, this is typically when Disney drops their biggest park announcements. We think there’s no way that they just HAPPENED to write 8-15 on the newspaper twice without doing it on purpose. ©Disney Disney is a bit like Taylor Swift these days because they love dropping hints and Easter Eggs! That’s why we think this is so intentional. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for an opening date or at least an opening timeline for Monstropolis. While we won’t know for sure until August 15th, we can at least daydream (or be delusional) until then. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news, updates, hints, and more. If you’re a night owl, you might do some WEIRD things on your Disney World vacation. Magic Kingdom Most of the excitement in Disney World happens during the day, so if you prefer to stay up late, you may be hatching some pretty strange plans to take full advantage of those late hours. These are the things that night owls do in Disney World that are a little bit…bizarre. Pay Extra to Stay in the Park First of all, night owls might be doling out just a bit more cash to the mouse. Why? Because they want to party late! Some of the best ways to stay up late while still hanging in the parks involve spending extra money. Hard-ticketed events like After Hours events and holiday parties are great examples of this! Minnie Mouse at EPCOT After Hours With those events, you get extra hours of park time after the parks have closed to regular day guests, during which you can ride attractions, meet characters, enjoy special entertainment, or grab some snacks. Another great option for staying late is Extended Evening Hours (EEH). EEH is a perk available only to guests of Deluxe Disney Resorts, so you’ll pay more for your hotel, but you can get two bonus hours in select parks twice a week. Learn More About Extended Evening Hours Here! Hop in Line at the Literal Last Minute If you’re hoping to make the absolute most of your time in the parks, then you probably know the age-old trick of hopping in line for a ride right before park close. You can get in line for many attractions right up until park closing time, and it often means that you’ll be waiting a shorter amount of time than if you rode midday. TRON Lightcycle / Run Any ride that often has a long wait is a good choice for this; that way, you won’t have to wait in the long lines earlier in the day. Then, by the time you wait in the queue, ride the ride, and exit, you’ll be walking through a park that is closed for the night and likely much less crowded. We’ve gotten some of the best “empty park” pictures this way (a great trick if you want a Cinderella Castle pic with no one in the background). 7 Things to Do While Waiting in Line in Disney World That Will Save You Time Later Save Their Shopping Until the End of the Day If you’re going for that “empty park after dark” vibe, then this is a great hack to stay in the park a little bit longer. For each of the four theme parks, the main gift shop typically stays open later than the park hours. This means you can do some basic souvenir shopping after hours. The Emporium This doesn’t really apply to the specialty shops located throughout the park, but for places like The Emporium and Creations Shop, Disney knows they can squeeze some more bucks out of guests at the end of the day. If you do the ride trick and then go shopping afterward, you’ll be sure to be one of the last folks in the park that day. I’ve Been to Every Store in Disney World, and I’m Sharing My Souvenir Hacks Hit Up a Second Location Of course, at some point you’ll actually have to leave the park. However, the party doesn’t have to stop! Many night owls choose to take their adventure to a second location. Two of Disney World’s best spots for late-night partying are Disney Springs and Disney’s BoardWalk. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney Springs is often open a couple of hours after most of the parks, offering dining and shopping, as well as some musical entertainment. There, you could see a movie or go bowling at Splitsville to occupy your time. But if you prefer, you could head to Disney’s BoardWalk and do some dancing at Atlantic Dance Hall or visit one of the BoardWalk’s interesting bars. This resort area also offers some great live performers in the evenings. The BoardWalk Bar You Don’t Want to Miss! Visit a Gas Station Of course, if you’re staying up late, you’re probably going to want some food. Unfortunately, there aren’t many places on Disney World property that are open past 11PM for dining. This means that as a night owl, you might find yourself desperately searching for snacks at one of the Speedway gas stations on Disney property. Speedway Gas Station Outside of Magic Kingdom If you’re not keen on gas station food, the good news is that the McDonald’s on Disney World property, located near the All-Star Resorts, is open 24 hours a day. Yep, you can satisfy your midnight cravings with some chicken nuggets and a crispy Diet Coke. Our One Complaint About the Disney World McDonald’s Skip Rope Drop It goes without saying that one thing night owls do frequently in Disney World is skip rope drop! If you’re partying until the wee hours of the morning, you likely won’t want to be up and at ’em at 7AM to rope drop Animal Kingdom. But as we’ve shared above, you don’t necessarily have to rope drop to have a good time! Rope Drop Purchasing Lightning Lanes for the parks can save you a lot of time that you can buy back by sleeping in in the mornings, and you can often cram in a few extra rides if you’re willing to stay until the end of the day or skip fireworks shows in the evening. There are plenty of ways to enjoy Disney World without being a morning person. Rope drop at EPCOT Even though it’s a family destination, Disney World still has a LOT to offer night owls! You don’t have to be an early bird to have a great trip. Only Disney Adults Know About This Secret Hack to Cut Food Costs Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Pueblo Esperanza is coming to life in Animal Kingdom! ©Disney || Tropical Americas Land coming to Animal Kingdom The upcoming Tropical Americas land has been in development for several years, and we’ve been following it every step of the way. Now, Disney has filed a NEW permit for changes coming to the land, and parents are going to be very happy with this one. It’s time to play in Pueblo Esperanza! In a new Notice of Commencement filed in Orange County, hints that the new playground is finally being built. Disney previously confirmed a new playground in the land in another permit, which shared that the play area would be located on what was once the Cretaceous Trail, which was the path between Dinosaur and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. ©Bioreconstruct || Construction in March 2026 The new permit, filed on June 4th, describes the works as “General Construction,” so no major details here. How do we know it’s about the playground specifically? That’s thanks to the contractor Disney is working with! The general contractor listed is Landscaping Structures, Inc., which specializes in playground design and structures. ©Florida Department of Environmental Protection This is huge for parents who previously loved The Boneyard in this area. Disney hasn’t released a ton of details about what we can expect from the play area, but we have a feeling the kids will love it. The new land will also include a huge quick-service restaurant, a carousel, and two big-ticket attractions inspired by Indiana Jones and Encanto. The Casita ©Disney The Encanto ride will join the family Madrigal inside the enchanted Casita! The ride (which we think looks to be a boat ride) will begin right when Antonio receives his special gift and his room becomes a beautiful rainforest, just like in the movie! We will get to explore his room with him, and Disney has even teased, “You never know what member of the family you might bump into…” ©Disney The Indiana Jones ride will feature a brand new story that’s different from its Disneyland counterpart. Disney hasn’t shared too much just yet, but they have said it will follow “the man with the hat” when he has “recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple” that he has to explore! They also shared, “He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones. ©Disney This isn’t the only playground coming to Disney World, though! Over in Hollywood Studios, Disney is currently developing the Drawn to Wonderland Playground, which is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The Hollywood Studios playground is supposed to open later this summer. Drawn to Wonderland Playground Concept Art ©Disney Animal Kingdom’s Pueblo Esperanza is set to open sometime in 2027, but Disney has yet to give us an exact date. We’re hoping we get some more information on that at D23 in August 2026. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, and more. It’s crazy to think that Disneyland started its 70th Anniversary over a full year ago! The celebration brought tons of exclusive merchandise, food and beverages, and iconic shows. Out of everything to come, we’ve probably enjoyed the entertainment the most. Paint the Night Parade Lately, we’ve been trying to watch the shows as many times as we can as the party wraps up. Well, we can take a step back and breathe for a minute, because Disney just dropped some massive news that they’re extending these limited-time shows! We were thrilled to see that Disney will be extending two shows that returned for the 70th anniversary, and the extension is a pretty decent one. It will be tough to say goodbye, as it was when they left before coming back for the celebration, but we still have a little extra time with them to enjoy! Wondrous Journeys Wondrous Journeys, the nighttime fireworks spectacular, has been extended to August 20th for guests to enjoy before the spooky season begins! The show is a tribute to the classic movies of Walt Disney Animation Studios that inspired the first Disney theme park. This show is so cool! The show is displayed on Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., the Rivers of America, and the façade of “it’s a small world”! It features projections and fireworks and tons of iconic Disney characters, including those from Moana, Frozen, The Lion King, Hercules, Peter Pan, Encanto, and more. The very last performance of Wondrous Journeys will be on August 20th at 9:30 PM. Wondrous Journeys The Paint The Night parade is a fan favorite, and one that we were beyond thrilled to see return for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, which began May 14th. The parade truly “paints the night” with LED lights on a dazzling display of floats. The parade features characters from Frozen, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast, and more. The stars of the parade are Tinker Bell and Sorcerer Mickey. It’s truly iconic! Goofy and Donald The parade was originally planned to run until the end of the celebration on August 9th, 2026, the same as the fireworks show. However, this show will also be staying until August 20th! To catch the last performances, you’ll want to be there on August 20th at 8:45 PM and 10:45 PM. Paint the Night It sucks to say goodbye, but when one door closes, another door opens. As the two shows leave Disneyland, Disney California Adventure will see the return of World of Color – ONE. The show will be back for a limited time, beginning on August 10th through the Halloween season. We don’t know much else beyond that, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details! World of Color — ONE We’re so happy we get even more time to check out those limited-time Disneyland shows before they leave.
