  1. If you’ve ever been to Magic Kingdom, then you know how amazing staying at a Monorail resort is. Not only are they gorgeous hotels, but you can get free transportation directly to The Most Magical Place on Earth! We love the Monorail! One of our favorite perks of the Monorail resorts isn’t actually the monorail – it’s the boat ride across the Seven Seas Lagoon directly to Magic Kingdom that takes the cake. One of these boat docks has been closed since mid-May, but it just reopened today! On May 11th, the boat dock at Disney’s Polynesian Resort closed for routine maintenance, which paused boat rides to and from Magic Kingdom. The boat dock just reopened today, so we had to check it out! It’s open! The dock looks pretty different from how it used to be. While the awning looks the same, it looks like completely new wood all along the dock, and new posts, too. The new wood is so pretty! We’re so excited that these boats are back at the Polynesian. 3. You’re not gonna be proud to own every single Disney Parks essential that you use, but that doesn’t make them any less effective! Neck Cooling Tube These essentials may not be the most flashy, visually appealing, or popular items you can bring with you to Disney World — but there’s no denying that they help. From keeping you cool to making sure you stay comfortable in the sticky theme park weather, these are some “embarrassing” essentials you should check out right now on Amazon! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Keep your shoes dry with this first souvenir Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Are these Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers the most stylish shoe accessory? Not exactly, but they really do the trick despite us having ZERO faith in them at first glance. We recommend sizing up to alleviate any discomfort from the zipper top — but rest assured that they actually work! If you’re hoping to keep your feet dry during a storm or not worry about a water ride, these do just fine (as long as you don’t leave a big gap at the top of the cover). BUY ON AMAZON This hat looks odd, but it’s effective Outdoor Wide Brim Hat Fan The Outdoor Wide Brim Hat Fan will make you look like an alien, but it’ll keep you cool while you’re traversing the parks. There are two fans that can either work simultaneously or alternately, and they can easily be removed to charge or stored away in a bag. The fans can be charged via a cord or through solar power, and they work better in a cool environment — as they gather air from your environment. BUY ON AMAZON This odd device is actually very useful Neck cooling tube This Neck Cooling Tube is available in several different colors on Amazon, and we really like how easy it is to transport. Lightweight and dry, sometimes, this little tube cools us better than a neck fan or a cooling towel! You’ll want to cool it ahead of time or constantly dunk it in ice water, but when it works… wow, does it really work! We’ve used these during outdoor dining reviews and when going about our regular park days, and it’s been a lifesaver. BUY ON AMAZON Prevent chaffing with this next souvenir ©Amazon Chub-rub and chaffing aren’t the most fun things to talk about when discussing a Disney vacation — but they’re still important to acknowledge. We personally swear by Body Glide Anti-Chafe Balm, and it’s gotten us through what could have been some really tough times. You can use this stick to prevent and relieve hot spots on feet, and chafed, chapped, and cracked skin, and you can safely wash it off with soap at the end of the day. This is one of those items that is a MUST-HAVE for anyone worried about chaffing. BUY ON AMAZON Choosing the right underwear is critical ©Amazon Another taboo topic can be underwear, but keep in mind that Disney days are inherently uncomfortable, and every layer of clothing matters. This BAMBOO COOL Women’s Underwear Set is available in several different color combos and sizes, and is made with a bamboo/spandex material that’s breathable, moisture-wicking, and sweat-wicking. This set regulates temperature, and the elastic waistband provides comfort AND security. Comfort and practicality are crucial when it comes to long Disney days, and this set nullifies complications that could happen with the wrong pair of undergarments. 4. When we’re at EPCOT, we love stopping by the BoardWalk for great food, fun entertainment, and stunning lake views. But lately, the BoardWalk has been plagued by construction between Jellyrolls, the mysterious Project Amazon, and Project Bubbles! BoardWalk Disney just filed a new Notice of Commencement permit to install signs on the BoardWalk, and we’re pretty sure we know what top-secret new location it’s for. Walt Disney Imagineering just filed a new Notice of Commencement permit to install signage at the BoardWalk. Design Communications Ltd. is the contractor, a custom sign fabricator specializing in architectural specialties and experiential signage. They’re Disney’s go-to for signs, having worked on Disney World’s newest land, The Walt Disney Studios, and the upcoming Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios. The Walt Disney Studios Last month, Disney filed two permits for the BoardWalk, one titled “Project Amazon” and one titled “Project Bubbles.” We’re thinking this is basically Project A and B, so likely, it’s just what Disney is calling it to keep it a secret. Project Amazon is set to replace Big River Grille & Brewing Works. This is a pretty big restaurant space. Project Bubbles is slated for the Promenade Fine Art Gallery space. We’re pretty sure another restaurant and store are coming soon. The former Big River Grille & Brewing Works in 2024 While there’s another location under construction at the BoardWalk right now, this permit is not for the Jellyrolls building. This new signage permit is likely for Project Amazon or Project Bubbles (or even both)! Disney’s BoardWalk While Disney hasn’t made an official announcement on Project Amazon or Project Bubbles, we’ll be sure to update you once they do. In the meantime, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World news. 6. Disney is going ALL out with Toy Story 5, and we’re seeing all kinds of fun promotions and collaborations nearly everywhere. The Internet nearly broke once the new Taylor Swift song for the film was released, but you’ll also find a ton of new Toy Story souvenirs and merchandise (including Crocs) and even a collaboration with Papa Johns for Toy Story-themed pizza. ©Alaska Airlines Well, NOW, Toy Story is taking to the skies like Buzz Lightyear. Alaska Airlines recently announced that its regional carrier, Horizon Air, will have Toy Story planes. Horizon Air is officially bringing Toy Story to the skies with a new livery of Embraer 175 planes with exteriors inspired by the new film. It features classic Toy Story characters like Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, as well as new Toy Story 5 characters, Lilypad, Snappy, Atlas, and Smarty Pants. The planes also feature fun Toy Story-inspired callouts like “Saddle Up, It’s Takeoff Time!” and “Ready for Takeoff, Partner.” Forky and Karen Beverly also appear on the planes’ winglets. ©Alaska Airlines The new plane collection is called “To 45 and Beyond,” in a nod to Buzz Lightyear, but also commemorating Horizon Air’s 45th anniversary. Andy Schneider, President and CEO of Horizon Air, said, “I couldn’t think of a more special way to celebrate Horizon’s history with our guests than to bring out the kid in all of us. Forty-five years of service is a meaningful milestone, and I couldn’t be prouder of our people who, each and every day, put their best foot forward to deliver the industry’s best and most caring travel experience.” ©Alaska Airlines These aren’t the first Disney-themed planes in Horizon Air’s fleet. The new Toy Story planes are joining nine other planes themed to Disneyland, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Mickey’s Toontown, and Star Wars. 8. This week was certainly a big one for Disneyland Resort, with tons of announcements around Oogie Boogie Bash, which kinda stuck Disney World in the backseat. Though after weeks in a row of TONS of news and changes, we think it deserves a little break. ©Disney That’s not to say that things didn’t still HAPPEN in Disney World, because they absolutely did. Not only did one construction project FINALLY finish up after months, but we also got new sneak peeks of TWO of the new lands on their way! If you’re visiting Disney’s Pop Century Resort soon, we’re happy to report that construction on the splash pad is officially complete (it felt like it took forever, but hey, we’re here now, and that’s what matters), and Disney gave us an in-depth look at what’s happening behind the walls at Monstropolis! Plus, we got another bird’s eye view of progress over at Tropical Americas, which was another big plus. via @bioreconstruct Let’s take a look at the other closures taking place from June 5th through June 12th. Magic Kingdom Storybook Circus Pete’s Silly Sideshow is temporarily unavailable as of January 4th, 2026. This is the Storybook Circus meet and greet area, where you can meet Donald Duck, Goofy, Daisy Duck, and Minnie Mouse as they join the circus. Good news, though! While Pete’s Silly Sideshow will be closed, you can still meet all of the characters! You will find Goofy and Minnie at the entrance to Storybook Circus, and you can find Donald and Daisy in the back of Storybook Circus by the restrooms. Pete’s Silly Sideshow However, now there’s ANOTHER closure in the land as well. Big Top Souvenirs closed on February 20th, and Disney has said it’ll “reopen for guests to enjoy later this year,” but there’s no date in sight. When we stopped by recently, we noticed that the entire top of the store is GONE right now! Talk about a jumpscare! The tent disappeared! We’re really curious to see how this all turns out, so we’ll keep you updated! Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some updates to the concrete on the land, as well as leveling taking place for the new attractions — how exciting! Piston Peak construction Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. 7 Big Changes Coming To Disney World Next Month Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Parts of) Animation Courtyard Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. The courtyard area, new Disney Jr. show, and meet and greet station for Sofia the First and SupeKitties officially opened on May 26th, but we’re still waiting for the other sections of the area to open. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters, complete with the return of the Sorcerer Mickey hat! Mickey and Minnie! This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area that we can’t wait to see! Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, Disney took us behind the walls for the first time, where we got to see that most of the buildings are covered in tarps as materials are brought in and facade work is in progress. ©Disney Plus, there’s also work being done on the former PizzeRizzo building that has scaffolding up all around it. We also got a chance to see that a lot of the concrete has been torn away to make way for new landscaping, which is pretty typical for Disney projects, and we got a great look at the MASSIVE building the new coaster in this land will be housed in. ©Disney If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! CONFIRMED: We Are Getting HUGE Monsters Inc. Land News on August 15th EPCOT Refreshment Port Refreshment Port located near the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase closed for refurbishment on January 12th. We’ve heard nothing on it for months, but now, we know that when it reopens, it’ll become La Poutinerie! La Poutinerie Concept Art ©Disney The spot will be sponsored by Air Canada, and promises to deliver “a Canadian classic with a twist.” Disney hasn’t announced an opening date or a menu, but we’re hoping our favorite poutine will come back any day now! 2 Weeks When the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Could Be EMPTY Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, thanks to an update by @bioreconstruct on X, we can see that the walls have been cast and placed for the Casita in front of the Encanto dark ride. via @bioreconstruct We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride! via @bioreconstruct This new land is shaping up nicely! It will have three new rides – a carousel featuring classic Disney animals, an Indiana Jones ride where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and an Encanto ride that invites you into the Madrigal’s home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. BABY ANIMAL ALERT! A New Baby Giraffe Will Make Its Animal Kingdom Debut Soon Disney World Hotels Boat Dock — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Starting on May 11th, the Boat Dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort became unavailable for guests to use due to refurbishment. The dock is closed! Boat transportation is expected to be unavailable from now through June 5th, though construction on the dock as a whole will continue through late June. It’s not too bad, but this does mean the only way to get from the hotel to Magic Kingdom is to take the Monorail or walk. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Additionally, exterior elevator landing repairs will be taking place through late May 2026. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort For those looking to dine at this hotel, you need to know that the Turf Club Bar & Grill and Turf Club Lounge will both be under refurbishment from mid-March through mid-September 2026. Turf Club Bar & Grill In early April, the Turf Club Lounge will close for refurbishment and will reopen in early August. In the meantime, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu. Then, from early to mid-August, the Turf Club patio will close for refurbishment, and finally, from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment, but the Turf Club Lounge will be open. Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance. The maintenance could affect views and may require alternate routes at times. In addition, two of the resort’s leisure pools will close for routine maintenance. Tidal Pool At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure be will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Guests may see or hear construction work, but it will only be done during the daytime hours. Yachtsman Steakhouse — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort On May 11th, Yachtsman Steakhouse officially closed for refurbishment. Yachtsman Steakhouse The restaurant is expected to open sometime in early August, though no official date has been set. Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s BoardWalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Most recently, Disney just filed permits for the BoardWalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles,” so it’s possible we could see some movement on these updates soon! Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th. 2025 and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. What is to become of its former location, though? Well, there are now walls all up around the building, so work IS being done, but it’s not yet clear what will arrive in its place. Jellyrolls Now, we know that Jellyrolls will be moving to a new location about 10 minutes away, and a grand opening is planned for late summer or fall 2026. We also know that the new location will have free parking, be closer to the space that the original Disney location was in, and allow people to be dropped off and picked up by rideshare services right at the front door. 11. For over 5 decades, hotels have been an essential part of the Walt Disney World experience, with the opening-day Polynesian Village and Contemporary resorts joined by more than 25 hotels since 1971. Art of Animation Resort Over that time, Disney’s hotels have served up a litany of special perks to guests, and in the summer of 2026, Disney has added some distinct… character to four of their resorts. As part of the Cool Kids Summer promotion — which began in May and runs through September 8th — a litany of special perks is available to guests at 4 hotels: the Caribbean Beach Resort, Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Art of Animation Resort, and Pop Century Resort. By far the biggest is the addition of scheduled character appearances at each of the hotels! Mickey at Port Orleans — Riverside for Cool Kids’ Summer First introduced in 2025, this game-changing perk allows guests to experience character encounters that were previously park-exclusive on days when they choose not to leave their hotels. This can be especially helpful for parents who want a bit of a cool-down day at their resort while still appeasing kiddos yearning for some Disney magic. Minnie Mouse at Pop Century… with Donald in the background. In addition to the character appearances, there are several other perks unique to these 4 hotels, including: Special Libraries: Little ones can celebrate Disney stories in libraries provided by Disney Publishing, where the magic of their imaginations can come alive with tales of princesses, heroes, and more. Pajama Party: Wind down with your family during story time! Participate in a “create your own bedtime story” activity, where the magic of a good book comes to life with the arrival of a favorite Disney Character. Pool Party: Make a splash at a high-energy poolside experience with games and music for the whole family. Campfire: Gather ‘round for a celebration filled with marshmallows and Disney-infused entertainment. Pool Party! Perks aren’t entirely limited to these 4 hotels, however, as guests at all of the on-property hotels have access to Disney’s free water perk. First introduced in 2025, this perk gives each member of a guest’s party free admission to one of Walt Disney World’s water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, on their check-in day. Typhoon Lagoon Cool Kids Summer has brought a slew of perks to the Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans Riverside, Art of Animation, and Pop Century resorts! 12. Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure is just a few short months away, and we’re already gearing up for tickets to go on sale on June 18th (though Magic Key Holders get early access on June 16th). ©Disney It’s already been announced that there will be some pretty significant changes at the party this year, with one of the biggest being that the popular Frightfully Fun Parade won’t be taking place. Instead, Disney has added a new addition that highlights Madame Leota and Haunted Mansion, but what exactly is the reasoning behind the lack of parade? Well, once we heard it, we realized just how much it made sense. Just a few days ago, Disney confirmed a few of the offerings coming to Oogie Boogie Bash this year, and their wording subtly announced that the new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party would be replacing the iconic Frightfully Fun Parade this year. That’s certainly a bummer, as we love the parade (though we are looking forward to seeing what this new offering will look like), but what’s the reason for the change? Frightfully Fun Parade According to the Orange County Register, it’s believed that the reason for the lack of the parade this year is due to the current construction in the park on the new Coco attraction. As the Haunted Mansion section of the parade is many visitors’ favorite, we can totally see why Disney decided to center their new attraction all around that theming. From the concept art, it looks like we’ll get to see Madame Leota herself, as well as the grave diggers, ballroom dancers, cemetery caretaker, and, of course, some ghosts. Frightfully Fun Parade The new Coco attraction is expected to arrive in the area south of Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and behind Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, in a Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier area that is predominantly backstage right now. This will be the first-ever Coco ride to exist, and while it may not seem like we can see a lot of construction right now, it’s possible that the issue for the parade would be the backstage space that’s currently under construction — those floats do take up a lot of space! All we know about the ride right now is that we’ll be joining Miguel on a special journey, seeing characters and hearing unforgettable songs from Coco on a trip to the Land of the Dead. ©Disney Going to miss the Headless Horseman, who usually would ride down the parade route ahead of the rest of the floats? Don’t worry, Disney has confirmed that throughout the night, you’ll see Ichabod Crane hurry through the park as he tries to evade the sinister specter of the Headless Horseman astride his dark steed. Yes, that means we should be able to see BOTH characters, which is super unique! Headless Horseman Looking for more recent Disneyland news? Check out our posts below! 13. EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival has been one of Disney World’s premier events for over three decades, and it often has the crowds to prove it! However, believe it or not, some weeks are slower than others. 2025 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival If one dissects the 2026 Festival’s dates, certain weeks will be easier to visit than others. Now, that doesn’t mean lines will be nonexistent — they’ll still be there, especially at the most popular booths — but the park won’t be as slammed with crowds as it is during the fest’s opening, closing, or Holiday weeks. The 2026 edition of the Food and Wine Festival is scheduled to begin on August 27th and run through November 21st, which is in line with the scheduling of the event in recent years, which has seen it begin in the final full week of August and end just before the Thanksgiving holiday. That, in turn, means we can look at previous years to gauge which weeks in 2026 might be — comparatively — slower. Crowds in EPCOT September 13th – 19th Thanks to a quirk of the calendar, 2026 has Labor Day — the unofficial end of summer and the summer vacation season — arriving on September 8th this year, the latest date it can possibly fall. That makes the 13th through the 19th the first full post-Labor Day — and post any late summer vacationers — week on the calendar, and likely one of the overall slowest at Disney World all year. Autumn Chili October 4th -10th The next week should see crowds relatively small from October 4th through the 10th. With late September religious holidays — which often see travelers heading down from the northeast — where many major cities see brief school closures in observance — over and the true influx of Halloween visitors yet to begin, this early October week will likely be the last one resembling anything slow at the Food & Wine Festival and Walt Disney World in 2026. Pineapple Cheesecake The Eat to the Beat Caveat There is one major metaphorical wrench that Disney could throw into these prognostications, however: The Eat to the Beat Concert Festival. Offered as part of the standard EPCOT admission ticket, this series features world-renowned musical artists performing several times a day during the festival at the America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. In recent years, stalwarts like Hanson, New Found Glory, and Sugar Ray, as well as festival newcomers like Yellowcard and even the legendary Beach Boys, have drawn MASSIVE crowds and lines during their performances. The Beach Boys… While the schedule for the 2026 Eat to the Beat series has yet to be revealed — judging by recent years, we would expect the full lineup sometime around July 1st — if Disney were to schedule one of the more in-demand acts for one of these “slow” weeks, it could suddenly lead to a much, much busier Food & Wine Festival. … and the lines for the Beach Boys. If these weeks do end busier than expected, or you do find yourself visiting the Food & Wine Festival on another particularly busy day, there are some things you can do to alleviate the crowding’s impact on your time. These include: Scoping out the Fest’s map and menus beforehand so you know what you “must” try. Rope dropping popular booths that are on your must-do list. Mobile Ordering special festival items that are available at permanent quick service dining. Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated while sampling dishes from different booths. Cheers If you’re planning to head to the 2026 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival with a flexible travel schedule, you may want to consider one of these comparatively slower weeks. 14. Magic Kingdom is in the midst of quite a large overhaul — there are walls practically everywhere you look! Carousel of Progress Over in Frontierland, Piston Peak is coming to life behind tall walls (though hop on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for a great look at what’s going on), and Villains Land is currently being built from the ground up behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. However, it was recently announced that ANOTHER big project is beginning in just one month, and it’ll change one attraction for good — this is your reminder that you’ve only got ONE more month to experience the current version of Carousel of Progress! Carousel of Progress will close for a length refurbishment exactly a month from today, on July 6th, to make major changes to the attraction. The reason for the change is so the attraction continues to feel current, updated, and relatable for audiences today, and Imagineering is planning to do that by updating the music, fashion, technology, and experiences that helped shape history as it’s reflected in this family’s story. What will the future bring? We know that the new Act 1 will take place in the 1960s, which is when the attraction first opened at the 1964 World’s Fair. Then, it looked back at the last 60 years of history, and now it’ll still do the same, but now looking at the 1960s to now! We know that this first scene will take place in 1969, as the family gathers around the TV to watch the moon landing. The idea is to keep the “spirit of innovation and possibility that has always been — and always will be — at the heart of Carousel of Progress.” Carousel of Progress Act 2 takes place in 1985. Sarah will take center stage (for the first time ever!) on Halloween night as she shares all about how the new appliances and gadgets of the time are making life easier for the whole family. While John is out on the porch handing candy out to trick-or-treaters, and don’t worry, Uncle Orville will still iconically complain about how there’s no privacy in the house! Hey, Sarah! Act 3 brings us to the close of the millennium as the family is getting ready to ring in the new year on New Year’s Eve 1999. The Internet is bringing John, Sarah, Jimmy, and Patty closer together, but Grandpa has already nodded off, so Grandma changes the TV over to wrestling when no one is looking. Finally, Act 4 features a future that could be possible. The family is in a home that’s out of this world, complete with a robot assisting with everyday tasks, space travel, and where extraordinary innovation has become part of life. Carousel of Progress The beginning of the show will also feature an introduction by Walt Disney, which will be SUPER special. The attraction is expected to reopen sometime in 2027, though no more specific opening timeline has been released at this time. ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB! 7 Big Changes Coming To Disney World Next Month Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 16. When we’re at EPCOT, we love visiting The Odyssey building. Where else can you find air conditioning, bathrooms with no line, and a shortcut to Mexico all in one place? The Odyssey Pavilion But when we stopped by The Odyssey building yesterday, we noticed a massive change. The Odyssey building might look totally different soon! When we stopped by The Odyssey building yesterday, we noticed that the building’s interior was completely roped off, and a new sign had been added! It reads “Light Lounge,” but Disney hasn’t announced what will be moving into The Odyssey building now that the Flower and Garden Festival is over. The new purple sign looks totally different! We had to get a closer look, and the sign has a bunch of futuristic blue and purple triangles that give Spaceship Earth vibes. “Light Lounge at the Odyssey” is printed in bold EPCOT-themed white text in the middle of the sign. What is Light Lounge, Disney??? While Disney hasn’t announced what’s moving into The Odyssey, we have a guess. The building is usually used as a food booth during festivals, and while there isn’t a festival in the summer, it could be a pop-up to offer more dining options during the busy season. We think Light Lounge could offer some summer-inspired light eats and drinks! Of course, it could also just serve as an air-conditioned lounge for people to take breaks in during the hot summer months, but ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see! 18. Some products are worth every penny. We love Owalas! Others are the kind of thing you almost skip over, then end up thinking about for months after your trip because you wish you had packed them. This post is about both. We have been testing Amazon finds that genuinely made our Disney World days easier, and these are the ones we would buy all over again without hesitation. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Your Ice Is Still There the Next Morning. No, Really. Little Mermaid Owala If you have ever spent a full park day in the Florida sun, you already know that hydration is not optional. The problem is that most water bottles let you down when the heat hits hardest. The Owala Disney Princess FreeSip Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle in the Ariel colorway is not that bottle. We put ice in at 8 AM, spent a full day outside in the heat, and still had ice the next morning at 10 AM. The FreeSip design gives you two ways to drink: a hidden built-in straw for sipping on the go and a wide-mouth opening when you want to chug. We refilled it about five times on a full park day, skipped $5 water stops entirely, and drank in line whenever we felt like it. It’s also completely leak-free. The subtle Ariel-inspired colorway with a touch of glitter keeps things fun without being over the top. The only complaint we have is wanting it in an even bigger size. view ON AMAZON This Is What Saves You When Your Phone Dies at 11am INIU Portable Charger Here is the scenario: rope drop was three hours ago, your phone has been running nonstop, and the battery is already at 22% before lunch. The INIU 45W Fast Charging Portable Charger is the solution we have been carrying. We are typically Anker users, but this slim, compact power bank changed our minds. At 10,000mAh, it delivers close to two full phone charges and can push an iPhone to 76% in just 30 minutes. It has both USB-C and standard USB-A ports for charging multiple devices at once, a detachable braided cable you can swap out if needed, and a small built-in flashlight toggled by double-tapping the power button. It charges fully in a few hours, does not set off security alarms at bag check, and costs around $20. The only thing it is missing is an included charging block, so grab one when you order. view ON AMAZON The Thing That Makes Florida Summer Actually Bearable AMKEN Waist Fan There are days at Disney World in July when no amount of shade or ice water is enough. For those days, the AMKEN Waist Fan is the product we never expected to love as much as we do. At $25, it delivers a genuinely powerful blast of cooling air at three speed settings, and on high, it is the only setting worth using if you are dealing with serious heat. We clipped it to our shorts and it stayed put all day. We also propped it on a tray at a quick-service restaurant and aimed it directly at our face, which was a perfect move. It doubles as a power bank with USB-C and USB-A ports, and it has a built-in LED flashlight with a flashing hazard mode. After nearly two hours of continuous use on high, all three battery indicator lights were still lit. The one honest trade-off is noise. It is impressively quiet for how powerful it is, but it is not silent. After a while, the hum becomes noticeable. That said, when it is 95 degrees and you are standing in the sun, you will not care even slightly. We came into this review expecting to be skeptical of a no-name product, and we left completely converted. view ON AMAZON Four MagicBands, One Outlet, Zero Stress MultiCharger for MagicBand+ Hotel room outlets at Disney resorts disappear fast. Between phones, tablets, and MagicBand+ chargers, you can run out of spots before the night is over. The MultiCharger for MagicBand+ solves that problem cleanly. It lets you charge up to four MagicBand+ devices from a single USB-A outlet, and it also works with standard Apple and Android charging cables so you can mix and match. It is small enough to fit in a sling bag or fanny pack, CE certified so it will not overheat, and specifically designed to be compatible with MagicBand+, unlike generic USB hubs that sometimes are not. For families with multiple bands, this is the kind of small purchase that pays for itself the first night. view ON AMAZON A Fan That Fits in Your Pocket and Charges Your Phone JISULIFE 3 IN 1 Handheld Mini Fan Not everyone wants to clip something to their waistband, and for those days when you just need a little relief, the JISULIFE 3 in 1 Handheld Mini Fan is the lightweight answer. It folds down so the blades tuck away completely, making it small enough for any pocket or bag. Open it to 180 degrees, and it works as a handheld fan. Open it to 270 degrees, and it props up on a surface as a desktop fan. It also functions as a backup power bank for your phone and has a built-in flashlight. With up to 19 hours of cooling time on a single charge, it can cover a full park day without issue. It will not replace a heavy-duty waist fan on the most brutal July days, but for mild heat or indoor stretches, it is a genuinely clever little travel tool. view ON AMAZON You Will Get Rained On. Be the Prepared One. Frogg Toggs Poncho Florida afternoon thunderstorms at Disney World are practically guaranteed in the summer, and they arrive fast. The FROGG TOGGS Ultra-lite2 Waterproof Breathable Rain Poncho is the one to keep in your bag. It weighs just nine ounces and compacts into its own included stuff sack, so it takes up almost no space until you need it. The attached hood has adjustable cord locks and side snaps for full coverage in heavy rain. It is waterproof, breathable, and far less miserable to wear than a plastic emergency poncho from a gift shop. Tuck it into your park bag before you leave the hotel and forget about it until the sky opens up. view ON AMAZON Park Ears That Won’t Give You a Headache by Noon ODOCARE Handmade Mouse Ears Headband If you or someone in your group has ever complained that Disney’s park ears are too heavy or too tight after a few hours, the Handmade Mouse Ears Headband from Amazon is worth a serious look. These are classic Minnie-style ears in solid black with a red and white polka dot bow, and they are noticeably lighter and more comfortable than what you will find on park shelves. The material is soft and a little fuzzy, and the fit is flexible enough for most head sizes. They are not a perfect replica of official park merchandise, and you can tell when you feel the headband fabric up close, but the ears themselves hold up well in terms of style and comfort. They are a fraction of the price and a solid choice for anyone who wants the look without the headache, literally. view ON AMAZON The right gear makes a real difference at Disney World, and none of these will break the bank. Whether you are battling the heat, racing against a dead phone battery, or just trying to stay dry and comfortable, these Amazon finds have proven themselves on actual park days. 19. In recent weeks, the U.S. State Department has issued a series of new travel advisories warning Americans about traveling abroad. U.S. Department of State According to the State Department, its travel advisories provide detailed destination-specific travel and risk information to allow U.S. citizens to make informed international travel decisions. U.S. embassies and consulates across the globe provide services that support the welfare and protection of U.S. citizens abroad. The most serious of the latest Travel Advisories is a Level 2 warning for Mexico, recommending travelers “Exercise Extreme Caution” due to risks associated with crime, kidnapping and hostage taking, and terrorism. According to the agency, “many violent crimes take place in Mexico. They include homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, sexual assault, and robbery. There is a risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other activity in Mexico… The U.S. government has limited ability to help in many parts of Mexico, a large country in which conditions can vary widely from state to state and even within a state. U.S. government employees may not travel to certain high-risk areas, which may be within states that include low-risk areas.” While the country overall is now a Level 2, the State Department does classify certain areas within the country as Level 1s, Level 3s, and Level 4s. In the map below, the areas are divided by color. Blue calls for travelers to “Exercise normal precautions”, yellow is “Exercise increased caution”, orange is “Reconsider travel”, and red is “Do not travel.” The State Department’s Mexico Travel Advisories In addition to Mexico’s Level 2 designation, Cyprus, Andorra, the Cayman Islands, and the Marshall Islands have all received Level 1 Travel Advisories. The agency offers the following tips for U.S. citizens who do decide to visit Mexico: Drug possession or importation of drugs, including medical marijuana, is illegal. Do not bring e-cigarettes, vaping devices, or illegal drugs into the country. Bringing weapons, including guns, ammunition, swords, knives, fireworks, and explosives into Mexico without permits issued by the Mexican government is a serious crime. When approaching any checkpoint, cooperate. Avoid any behavior that appears aggressive. Fleeing can raise suspicion and lead to violence. Costs for medical care in Mexico may be higher than expected. Most hospitals will not release patients until their bill is paid in full. ©U.S. State Department In the late spring of 2026, the U.S. State Department updated its Travel Advisories for 5 countries, including Mexico. 21. We love going to Animal Kingdom to see all the adorable animals. There are so many cute critters, from flamingos and otters to kangaroos and giraffes. If you’re also an animal lover, then Disney just released the best news you’ll hear all week! ©Disney Disney just named their new baby giraffe at Animal Kingdom – meet Ivy! Ivy was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this April at 120 pounds and nearly six feet tall. This little Masai giraffe is being kept backstage at the park until she’s old enough to make her debut on the savanna of Kilimanjaro Safaris. ©Disney All of the giraffes at Animal Kingdom have tree-themed names, since the majority of their diet is tree leaves! Ivy’s mom is named Willow after the Willow tree, and another member of their herd is Maple after Maple trees. The giraffe care team at Animal Kingdom came up with a list of 12 tree-themed names until they settled on Ivy! ©Disney If you’re a baby giraffe fan, then you’re probably familiar with Tucker, Ivy’s half-brother! Tucker was born last year and quickly became a popular new addition to the African savanna. He would often be seen with their shared dad, and they had so many cute moments together. After all, who can say this little guy isn’t adorable? ©Disney Masai giraffes are classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, with only around 30,000 left in the wild, so every new calf is a big step toward protecting the future of this incredible species. Ivy’s birth adds to the Masai giraffe family tree, keeping the population healthy and thriving so little ones (like her!) can keep towering over the savanna for generations to come. 24. Between Mickey-shaped treats, memorable meals with characters, and can’t-miss snacks, dining is part of the fun at Walt Disney World. Disney Dining Plans make it easier to savor it all, and starting with 2027 vacations, you can customize your dining experience even more with the new Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan. Why Should I Get a Dining Plan? A dining plan makes vacation planning feel simpler and lets you enjoy more of the dining fun along the way. Disney Dining Plans are designed to add convenience and flexibility by letting you prepay for meals and snacks so you can indulge in your favorite foods without checking the menu prices.  Hot Honey Chicken Waffle? You’re in. A Rapunzel Sundae? Say less. Both of these delicious treats and way more are included in a dining plan. Intrigued? Here’s a guide to everything you need to know about Disney Dining Plans. How do Dining Plans Work? Dining Plans are purchased as part of your stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. You can add them before your vacation online, through a cast member at our call center or via your travel professional. For everyone in your party ages 3 and over, dining plans include a set number of meals and snacks based on the number of nights of your resort stay. Meals and snacks can be redeemed at any time during your stay, with unused meals rolling over day-to-day until midnight on your check-out day. That means you are not limited to a specific number of meals per day. You can mix and bundle your meals to fit your schedule. Once you’re at a dining location, just let the cast member know that you are using a dining plan and they will handle the rest. Which Dining Plan is Right for Me? For 2027, you can choose from three dining plans depending on your vacation style. Whether your family is all about grab-and-go meals to stay in the action or you want extra time around the table, we have an option for you. Quick-Service Dining Plan  Great for guests who want fewer reservations and more time for fun. What does it come with? 2 quick-service meals per night of stay 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of stay 1 resort-refillable drink mug (per guest per stay) Table-Service Dining Plan A nice balance of sit-down meals and on-the-go favorites. What does it come with? 1 table-service meal per night of stay 1 quick-service meal per night of stay 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of stay 1 resort-refillable drink mug (per guest per stay) NEW for 2027: Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan Perfect for guests who want to enjoy three meals per day or signature dining experiences. What does it come with? 2 table-service meals per night of stay 1 quick-service meal per night of stay 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of stay 1 resort-refillable drink mug (per guest per stay) What is a Quick-Service Meal vs a Table-Service Meal? Quick-service meals are locations where you order at a counter. Think Connections Eatery at EPCOT or Flame Tree Barbecue at Animal Kingdom. These spots use one quick-service meal and are perfect for grabbing a tasty meal, then getting right back to the fun. Table-service meals are restaurants where you are seated and served, often a great choice for a mid-day break, a celebratory meal, or one of those unforgettable dining moments that become part of the vacation story. Spots like Tony’s Town Square Restaurant at Magic Kingdom or 50’s Prime Time Café at Hollywood Studios are delicious examples and cost one table-service meal. Reservations are highly recommended for table-service locations and, since you are staying at a Disney resort, you have first access to book your dining reservations – up to  60 days in advance of your check-in day – for the entire length of your stay. Character dining and signature dining experiences, like table-service restaurants, offer a relaxed meal around a table. However, they come with a magical twist, such as a Disney character coming to your table or refined cuisine from award-winning chefs. These experiences can use up to two table-service meals, so if restaurants like Story Book Dining at Artist Point within Wilderness Lodge or Tiffins Restaurant at Animal Kingdom are must-dos during your vacation, consider the Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan, which offers greater flexibility to enjoy these locations. Our Dining Plan Tips Keep track of your meals via the My Disney Experience app, on dining receipts or by asking a cast member at your resort front desk or a guest relations location. Your table-service meal meals can also be used at quick-service restaurants, giving you even more flexibility if your plans change or you want to grab a meal on the go. Don’t forget your refillable drink mug when spending time at your resort! You can get easy refills on all sorts of drinks during your stay, from water to soda and even coffee. Ready to Start Planning?  Whether your dream vacation includes quick bites between attractions, a favorite character dining experience, or even more time to savor sit-down meals, there’s a Disney Dining Plan to match. And when you stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, adding a dining plan can be one more convenient perk of your onsite vacation experience.
