  1. A new perk recently started for Disney World Annual Passholders: “Good-to-Go” days! Disney World Annual Pass On “Good-to-Go” days, Annual Passholders do NOT need a Park Pass Reservation to go into the Disney World theme parks. Now, a recent Disney World app update makes it easier for Passholders to remember when those days are scheduled! Disney recently got rid of the Park Pass Reservation requirement for date-based tickets, but Annual Passholders usually still need a Park Pass in order to get inside the theme parks. The exceptions to that rule are after 2PM on most days (excluding Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays) and “Good-to-Go” days. Annual Pass card So how do you know which days are “Good-to-Go”? You can check the Annual Passholder calendar — and we have a complete guide on how to do that right here — or you can just open up your Disney World app, thanks to the latest update! The app has been updated and now shows this message when a day is “Good-to-Go”: ©Disney You’ll find that message on “Good-to-Go” days on the home screen of the app if you just scroll down a little bit from the top. It’s great to have this reminder so that Passholders know when they do and don’t need a Park Pass. ©Disney Once you click “Learn More,” it’ll redirect you to the Park Pass Reservation page on Disney World’s website, which also looks a little different now! The home page looks like this, with a couple of different options for Park Passes depending on which kind of ticket you have. ©Disney If you scroll down a bit, you’ll see that there’s an option for guests with tickets or passes and another option for Annual Passholders who have hotel reservations. Scroll down a little more, and you’ll see your current Park Pass Reservations. ©Disney Annual Passholders don’t need to plan their trip at all on “Good-to-Go” days — they can just show up at the parks and head right in! These days are marked on the Annual Passholder calendar so that you can plan ahead when you want to visit and find out whether you’ll need a Park Pass. Annual Pass entrance at Magic Kingdom Note that you can’t really plan very far ahead — Disney has stated that they’ll update the calendar with more “Good-to-Go” days “days or weeks in advance,” so they’re not really giving us a ton of heads up. Right now, we can only see “Good-to-Go” days through February 1st. ©Disney To be safe, we recommend making a Park Pass Reservation for your trip, and then if those dates become “Good-to-Go” days later on, Disney will automatically remove the Park Pass that you no longer need, so you can use it for a different trip instead. 2. When you’re deciding where to stay for your Disney World vacation, you may decide to splurge on a moderate or deluxe hotel room. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Some of these rooms are expensive, but some of them are just RIDICULOUSLY expensive. It may make you wonder, why the heck would anyone pay that much for a hotel room? But, surprisingly there are some reasons why those wildly expensive rooms do get booked time and time again. Fort Wilderness Resort A Wilderness Cabin at Fort Wilderness Resort starts at $455 a night, which isn’t nearly as bad as other Disney hotels, but it is still quite expensive. These cabins are also currently going through a refurbishment, and we can’t wait to see the outcome! While they will be DVC rentals when complete, anyone can rent DVC points from a reputable service (like David’s Vacation Club Rentals, we love them!) to book these rooms. New Fort Wilderness DVC Cabins ©Disney So what’s so special about these cabins? Well, for one thing, it’s an individual cabin, so you and your group have it all to yourselves! It can sleep up to 6 adults, and you’re not sharing walls with any other rooms, which can be glorious. ©Disney These cabins also include a full kitchen, which is invaluable if you’re keeping food you’ve ordered from a grocery store, or leftovers from the parks in your room. ©Disney Overall, while these can still be expensive, they’re a little easier to justify if you’re going with a larger group — having your own space in a place like Disney World is really something. Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Lodge Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort, for good reason, but the real reason to stay there is for the savanna. That’s why, even though the rooms are more expensive, staying in a savanna view room is totally worth the cost. View Outside on the Sunset Savanna That is, if you love animals. If you don’t, this probably isn’t the right resort for you, but waking up to look out onto animals grazing the savanna is an experience like no other. ©Disney These rooms START at $640 a night to sleep up to 4 adults — that’s a pretty penny, but it’s for a pretty view. ©Disney This room will also include a beverage cooler, coffee and tea station, and a patio or balcony. Sitting on your balcony, watching the animals while you drink your coffee? Say no more, we’re there. Theme Park View at the Contemporary Resort Part of the perk of staying at the Contemporary Resort is that you’re literally within walking distance of Magic Kingdom. It’s a fantastic resort to see the fireworks from. Contemporary Resort Theme Park View Room If Magic Kingdom is a big part of your vacation and you want to see it every moment of the day, then a Theme Park View room in the Main Tower may be worth the price. Theme park view So what are you dropping on this room with a fantastic view? Well, these rooms start at $800 a night and are more expensive depending on the time of year. Balcony table and chairs These rooms also include a beverage cooler, coffee and tea station, and a patio or balcony. Plus, you’ll get to experience the Incredibles-themed room (which honestly, some people love and some don’t, so we don’t know how you feel about that). So you’ll be able to watch the fireworks from your balcony instead of just through the window! Resort Studios at the Grand Floridian Resort The Grand Floridian Resort’s rooms are ALL expensive, bit we enter a different level of expensive when we talk about the Resort Studio Theme Park View rooms. Grand Floridian DVC Resort Studio These rooms start at $862 a night, but they offer a fantastic view across the lake of Magic Kingdom. So you get fireworks and a water view all in one! Imagine this view, but facing the theme park! What’s also special about these rooms is that they’re close to the Main Building and pools. This hotel certainly isn’t small, so you’ll rest easy knowing you won’t have a massive trek to your hotel room each night. You’ll also get to experience the room being beautifully and subtly themed to Mary Poppins. The bathroom Similar to other deluxe hotels, these rooms also come with a beverage cooler, coffee and tea station, and a patio or balcony. Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort And finally, we come to one of the most expensive and sought after options on Disney World property — the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are NOT to be underestimated, both in price and in elegance. Polynesian Village Resort Bungalows These private bungalows STARTED at $3,309 in 2023 if you were paying all in cash. Now, these are reserved for DVC members or those renting DVC points, and in that case, your cost will go down a bit, but it’s still one of the most expensive rooms in Disney World. Directions to Bungalows So, what makes it so special? Well, for one, these are PRIVATE bungalows that sleep up to 8 adults in each, and they’re situated right on Bay Lake. Not only does this mean you’ll get an incredible view every moment you’re in the bungalow, but you’ll also be able to see the Electrical Water Pageant each night very clearly. ©Disney Tourist Blog Additionally, these give you everything you need and more. They come with 2 full bathrooms, a full kitchen, living and dining areas, a washer and dryer, and a private deck with a plunge pool. While Bay Lake may be pretty, you can’t swim in it, so having the pool attached is a great trade. ©Disney It’s a fantastic room to save up for and take a once in a lifetime trip to, if you can find a time they’re not booked. Even with their high price point, these Bungalows are almost constantly booked all year round. ©Disney We’re always ready to help you plan your next Disney vacation by giving you all the information, tips, and tricks you need, so stay tuned to DFB! 3. A recent legal ruling stopped the buyout of Spirit Airlines by JetBlue Airways. Airlines are a hot topic! While the judge has prevented the merger of Spirit and JetBlue for the time being, the future of low-cost fares for passengers and the fate of small airports that rely heavily on the budget airline could be in trouble if the ruling gets overturned. Recently, Spirit Airlines announced they were looking to merge with JetBlue Airways in a cool $3.8 billion deal. However, according to an article by CNBC, a judge has recently blocked this purchase of the airline from continuing further. The judge stated, “The elimination of Spirit would harm cost-conscious travelers who rely on Spirit’s low fares.” However, the two airlines disagreed with the ruling, stating, “We continue to believe that our combination is the best opportunity to increase much-needed competition and choice by bringing low fares and great service to more customers in more markets while enhancing our ability to compete with the dominant U.S. carriers.” ©Spirit Airlines Now, the two companies are looking at the option to appeal the judge’s decision, according to a separate article by CNBC. But could an appeal and overturning of the judge’s decision have big impacts on passengers and small airports, as he predicted? Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport Smaller airports that rely heavily on passengers choosing to fly with Spirit Airlines have already had to cut down multiple routes to just one for select destinations. These types of airports are mostly supported by travelers who are attracted to fly out through them from neighboring states. Spirit Airlines Gabe Monzo, the executive director of the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (LBE), expressed concern for his airport’s ability to stay in business, saying, “Being that they (Spirit Airlines) are the only one, they are really important; it would be devastating if they would go belly up.” He believes this shake-up could really affect their share of the airline business (and in turn the financial stability) of the LBE airport to continue offering service. Spirit Airlines is the only commercial carrier to provide service to LBE airport, and the employees who currently work in all of the scaled-down conveniences are now left uncertain about what their future could look like if Spirit Airlines were to discontinue offering flights through them. Spirit Airlines plane This is just one example of who could feel the rippling effects if the judge’s decision is overturned. There are thousands of leisure travelers, college students, missionaries, and others who choose to fly with Spirit Airlines due to their pricing and straightforward airfare. Professor Jase Ramsey, who is a Florida Gulf Coast University management professor in Fort Myers, uses Spirit Airlines for both his personal and professional courses of study. He believes that if Spirit Airlines ceased to exist in Florida, its absence from the market would likely raise prices for incoming tourists and cut off affordable vacation options for local families heading to the Caribbean.“This will be bad for our region if something happens to Spirit from a price perspective. They are usually our low-cost leader. If you want to do a family vacation out of here, that is your go-to airline,” continued Ramsey. ©Spirit Airlines He went on to outline how cutting off such an integral part of tourism to South Florida would be like cutting off its lifeline. “This isn’t good for us. South Florida really depends on them. It is a healthy market with two low-cost providers that compete with one another,” said Ramsey, speaking of Spirit Airlines’s next competitor in line for the region, Southwest Airlines. In addition to keeping airfare low in cost, these smaller airlines are more willing to fly travelers to offbeat destinations that other major airlines just simply aren’t willing to travel to. However, Paul Vaaler, a professor at the University of Minnesota Law School and Carlson School of Management, admits the margins between airlines competing for your travel business can be so small at times that it makes it difficult for Spirit to compete. Orlando Airport TSA Lines Vaaler is hopeful that the judge’s decision could be overturned with an appeal. He also believes the merger could make smart business sense which might not have been so apparent at first glance. He stated, “What I think the judge missed is that there is an offsetting beneficial effect of a merger; a large JetBlue could put more pressure on the legacy airlines.” This could ring even more true in mixed markets that tend to attract both leisure and business travelers, like in Orlando. Another thing working against Spirit Airlines is their double-edged sword of low pricing. While they’re arguably the best “deal” flying with low fares, their pricing isn’t too far off from other popular forms of transportation offered, like buses and trains. Brightline train Vaaler went on to give this food for thought, “There is a role for those players, and it is really important to provide those choices; they go to places that the legacies airlines don’t,” and he sees the value that Spirit Airlines brings to the travel industry with this point. 4. One of EPCOT‘s most popular rides is set to close tomorrow! ©Disney Disney World has seen several closures recently with a few of their rides under extended refurbishment and even a handy transportation service hasn’t been in operation for a while while it was undergoing maintenance. However, if you were hoping to catch a glimpse of the Frozen sisters and their friends soon, you may want to look at rearranging a few of your plans. EPCOT’s popular Frozen attraction, Frozen Ever After, will be closed on January 24th. This slow-moving boat ride in the Norway Pavilion takes you on a journey through Arendelle’s frozen willow forest, listening to Grand Pabbie retell the story of Anna and Elsa’s upbringing among the “boulders” in Troll Valley, and eventually head up the North Mountain for a spectacular display of Elsa’s icy powers when the sisters invite you along for the ride! Frozen Ever After If you think you’ll develop “Frozen Fever” from being without Frozen Ever After too long, you won’t have to wait as long as you think. The scheduled routine maintenance closure is set to start on January 24th, 2024, and might be the most brief maintenance closure we’ve seen in quite a while. ©Disney According to Disney, the closure is only expected to last a day, so the silver lining here is the ride is expected to be back in operation on January 25th, 2024 (and in time for Early Park Entry.) ©Disney If you were hoping to ride this attraction on the day it’s closed, you’ll have a good chance of riding it on another day during your visit. 9. EPCOT has several festivals throughout the year (and as you may know, we’re huge fans of them)! 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts You can try new foods, explore creative art, try tons of wine, shop exclusive merchandise, go on scavenger hunts, go to concerts, and so much more at the festivals. There is the Festival of the Arts, Flower and Garden Festival, Food and Wine Festival, and the Festival of the Holidays. Each of these offers unique experiences for park guests. While there are already four festivals, is it possible that we could be seeing a new, fifth festival making an appearance this year? Disney has not made any suggestions, announcements, or indications that a fifth festival is officially coming to EPCOT, but there are a couple of things that might indicate its possibility. Here are two reasons why we think we could see a new festival debuting and one counterpoint against the idea. The 2024 Festival of the Arts is currently ongoing. If you’re planning on visiting the festival be sure to get your FREE festival map! It Would Fit in With the Other Festivals As we said above, EPCOT currently has four festivals — one in the winter (Festival of the Arts), one in the spring (Flower and Garden Festival), one in the fall (Food and Wine Festival), and a winter holiday festival (Festival of the Holidays). If you look through that list, you may notice one festival clearly missing — a summer festival! 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts Disney has created a festival for three of the four seasons, and a summer festival could be a fun idea (see point 2)! Here’s why we think this is possible. The dates for the spring festival, the Flower and Garden Festival, were recently released. It will be running from February 28th through May 27th, which is ONLY 90 days! The next festival is usually the Food and Wine Festival. We don’t have dates for the Food and Wine Festival yet, but it is notoriously a fall festival. So what will Disney do with all the time between the spring and fall festival? EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival A summer festival would make sense in terms of getting the fourth and final season a festival and using the time between the Flower and Garden Festival and the Food and Wine Festival. Summer Lovin’/Fun Would Make a Great Festival Idea! There are so many great theme ideas that we could think of for a summer festival. They could take a page out of Grease‘s book with a “Summer Lovin'” theme or a simple “Summer Fun” theme could go over well. A “Fun in the Sun Festival” would be a hit for sure! 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival Imagine this: a festival with ice pops, ice cream, slushes, piña coladas, watermelon and pineapple everything, and a stroll through Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana. That sounds like a perfect way to spend a hot summer day! We can only imagine the creative snacks the Disney culinary chefs could come up with. Summer and the Florida sun lends itself beautifully to a new EPCOT festival. Counterpoint: Food and Wine Has Been Starting in July The Food and Wine Festival has been starting earlier and earlier each year. This “fall” festival has actually started in the middle of summer for the last couple of years. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival In 2023, we saw the Food and Wine Festival begin on July 27th and it ran through November 18th. If it starts around the same time this year, that would be only 2 months for a new summer festival. It is also possible that they’ll move the Food and Wine Festival up even earlier and provide even more opportunities for people to enjoy it (it is potentially the most popular of EPCOT’s festivals). Food and Wine Festival Could Disney debut an all-new summer festival in 2024? Sure! Will they? We’ll be on the lookout to find out! We certainly won’t be mad if they did bring an all-new festival to EPCOT (the food booths are some of our favorite things!). 10. We have a lot of questions about the world, and we’re sure you do too. Ba Da Ba Ba Bah… A lot of questions we have are about Disney, Disney’s history, and how to plan the best trip when everything keeps changing, but do you know what one of our other burning questions is? It’s the same one that haunts a lot of you — why does Coca-Cola taste SO good at McDonald’s? We know it’s silly, but prepare yourselves — we have an ANSWER! That’s right, friends, McDonald’s has finally OFFICIALLY answered why Coke tastes so good at their restaurants. According to their website, it’s simple, they “follow the guidelines set by Coca-Cola® and take steps to ensure that we serve a high-quality fountain beverage.” McDonald’s Drink What does that include though? McDonald’s says that one of the keys to proper preparation is that the “water and Coca-Cola® syrup are pre-chilled before entering our fountain dispensers with the ratio of syrup set to allow for ice to melt.” They also keep their fountain beverage machine cold so your drink is always refreshing. Fountain Drinks Additionally, they “filter all the water before it enters fountain dispensers,” and their straws play a part in it too! It’s wider than the typical straw, so it allows more of the drink to hit your tastebuds. McDonald’s Well, there’s a part of us that’s bummed it’s not some sort of magic spell that makes it special, but it’s nice to have an answer to the question! Disney and McDonald’s have quite the history together and continue to partner on lots of Happy Meal toys, so we keep up with all their latest news. 11. One of the best parts about visiting Disneyland has nothing to do with visiting the actual theme parks. Downtown Disney Well, the theme parks are pretty cool, too. But do you know what else is cool? Grubbing on delicious food in Downtown Disney. Many Disney fans believe that Disneyland has superior food when it comes to the Disney Parks, and a lot of that food can be found in Downtown Disney.. Whether you’re a frequent visitor, or you’ve never even been and you’re just planning a visit, we have some big news that you should know. In 2023, we heard about the all-new Parkside Market that would arrive to Downtown Disney. Parkside Market will house four different restaurants all under the same roof, and will bring, according to Disney, “diverse culinary creations” to the west end of Downtown Disney. The four restaurants will include Seoul Sister, Sip&Sonder, GG’s Chicken Shop, and a rooftop bar. We didn’t have much more information regarding construction or what we can expect from the area, but now we DO! Check out this first look of artists’ concepts for Parkside Market. This is what we can expect the outside to look like… ©Disney …and this is what we can expect from the inside! ©Disney So… how about a deeper dive into those restaurants that can be found inside? First up, Seoul Sister will deliver a Korean-forward menu with a California twist! This restaurant will have Asian-inspired meals primarily focused on variations of bibimbap (Korean rice bowls). ©Disney Next, we’ll be getting Sip & Sonder, a black women-owned eatery that specializes in, “signature lattes, as well as fresh treats, frozen drinks and Caribbean-inspired bites.” ©Disney We’ll also be seeing a new chicken place, GG’s Chicken Shop! They’ll be serving up family-style chicken, salads, and classic dinner sides. This will be the first GG’s on the West Coast after the first brick-and-mortar was opened in Chicago earlier this year. ©Disney The last location coming to Parkside Market is set to be a second-story bar that’s said to bring us excellent views and delicious cocktails! There will be a wide variety of options made with local ingredients by mixologists. Well, now we can’t wait for more details. We’ll let you know as soon as we have ’em, so make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing. Looking for more Disneyland news? Click here! Want to Learn More About Disneyland? 12. Have you heard of the new restaurants coming to Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort? Downtown Disney We’ve seen quite a few changes at Downtown Disney recently: A new table-service Earl of Sandwich location has opened, some new treats arrived, and one restaurant announced that it will permanently close soon. Disney also recently announced that a couple of NEW restaurants are coming this year, and now we finally have a first look at them! Paseo and Céntrico are two new restaurant areas coming to Downtown Disney. They’ll take over the location where Catal & Uva Bar were previously located. Paseo and Centrico Construction Disney just shared a first look at this new spot! Disney said that Paseo is the upstairs dining room (on the right in this concept art) and Céntrico is a courtyard bar and restaurant (on the left). ©Disney Both restaurants have menus created by Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán. These menus will feature “upscale Mexican cuisine and tequila-based cocktails.” The Orange County Register previously reported that the bar area will have a “high-end Mexican-inspired small plate menu.” Paseo Concept Art ©Disney But there’s another addition coming to this area! Tiendita will be a quick-service restaurant with a menu also created by Chef Gaytán. This spot will serve “Chef Gaytán’s Mexican heritage flavors on-the-go, with quick-service Mexican street-food staples.” ©Disney In the announcement with the new concept art, Disney also announced that Paseo and Céntrico will be opening “later this spring.” That’s soon! 13. Who doesn’t love a hot, cheesy, and delicious sandwich? Earl of Sandwich Earl of Sandwich has some fantastic sandwiches (I guess that’s why they’re the Earl of them). You can’t go wrong with one of their tasty sandwiches such as the 1762 Original, Montagu, or Cannonballs. They have variety and flavor. And now we have a big announcement for the fans of Earl’s! Downtown Disney in California at Disneyland Resort currently has an Earl of Sandwich in a temporary location. This location opened in February of 2023 and continues to serve the district. Earl of Sandwich But soon, the great Earl of Sandwiches will be relocating! Downtown Disney is getting some remodeling and new additions. A new market and restaurants will be appearing with new places to enjoy a meal AND a new two-story location will also be built to house an all-new Earl of Sandwich (but not just one, but TWO!). Earl of Sandwich On the main level of the new building, you’ll find a quick-service shop, and on the second story, you can grab a seat at the table-service gastropub version of Earl of Sandwich. Disney has mentioned that more details for this new location are still to come! Earl of Sandwich Tavern Since the current location of the sandwich shop has been known to be a temporary location since it opened, you’ll soon find a pop-up shop opening near the Star Wars Trading Post. You’ll be able to grab and go with your favorite sandwiches from here. The current location will soon be re-designed and re-constructed into an all-new Porto’s Bakery. 21. We’ve seen a bunch of menu updates for McDonald’s lately, but this one might just be the MOST exciting yet. McDonald’s One of the most popular McDonald’s dessert items has come BACK, but it’s only returning to a few locations. This news has us seriously tempted to book a flight just to get this treat again! News site KHON2 has reported that the Guava and Creme Pie has RETURNED to all McDonald’s locations in Hawai’i! ©McDonald’s This treat has been SUPER popular in the past, so you can expect long lines and busy drive-thrus if you go to grab one. The treat came back on January 22nd. It’ll stick around “while supplies last,” so it could go missing again at any minute. McDonald’s has apparently stated that this pie “sold out nationwide in a matter of days” last time! McDonald’s The Guava and Creme Pie is a warm, freshly baked crust stuffed with guava filling and vanilla creme. We’ve seen this treat pop up in Florida before, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it might come back here soon, too! McDonald’s News of this pie’s return comes soon after we heard that the Strawberries and Creme Pie would be returning to select McDonald’s locations nationwide. ©McDonald’s We’ve also learned that McDonald’s is potentially switching up its famous Big Mac burgers to make them bigger and also introducing a NEW double Big Mac! ©McDonald’s Looking for more McDonald’s news? 22. Our girl, Minnie Mouse, sure knows how to rock the dots! Minnie sure knows how to wear the cutest polka dots! Today, January 22nd, is National Polka Dot Day and we’re celebrating with Minnie! Several new snacks have surfaced at the Disney parks for the momentous occasion. Come with us as we try one of the new ice cream sundaes to celebrate our favorite pattern. Disney Eats shared on their Instagram that they are celebrating National Polka Dot Day with lots of snacks inspired by our favorite lady mouse, Minnie! ©Disney You can find kitchen sink sundaes, a strawberry waffle sundae, and Minnie Mouse dome cake in Disney World, and a Polka Dot Valentine Mickey-shaped Balloon Bucket in Disneyland! But you know what our hearts were after, the Minnie Kitchen Sink Sundae at Hollywood Scoops in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. ©Disney We scooted over to Hollywood Scoops first thing in the morning where we picked up our very own Minnie Kitchen Sink Sundae. (Turns out we were the third ones to ever order the treat!) The Minnie Mouse polka dot kitchen sink bowl isn’t new to Disney World (but they brought it back for the special occasion), but the ice cream sundae in it is. The sundae has strawberry ice cream topped with red vanilla whipped cream, chocolate syrup, white “polka dot” sprinkles, cookie ears, and a chocolate bow. You can eat it all up for $24.99! Minnie Kitchen Sink Sundae This adorable ice cream sundae is perfect for National Polka Dot Day! They even sprinkled “polka dots” on the whipped cream. We noticed that the whipped topping melted rather quickly, but the ice cream underneath held up pretty well. The dyed whipped cream was also quite red which ended up staining our fingers when we touched some on our bow. Look at all the polka dots! But that strawberry ice cream was so good. It was creamy and thick! So good! This “snack” is large, though! Our reporter got halfway through it and was getting full. For $25, it’s certainly shareable, even for 3 people. Overall, we really enjoyed eating this sundae (especially as our breakfast!). We would recommend it for anyone who LOVES ice cream (so you can eat it all) or for a group who is looking for a special treat. All of the polka-dot snacks look fantastic, so hurry to get one to celebrate! In the meantime, keep following DFB for more Disney news! 23. We might be in the middle of the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, but we’re already looking ahead to the next festival. 2023 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival That festival is the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, which brings SO much to Disney World, including gorgeous topiaries, a lot of AMAZING food, and the Garden Rocks concert series. However, this year, you’re going to have a lot less time to enjoy this festival because it’s going to end 36 days earlier than it did last year, which could basically upend your Disney World plans. So the 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival begins on February 28th and ends on May 27th. If the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival doesn’t start shortly after that (and we don’t have any word on that yet from Disney), it could mean you’ll be missing out on a festival if you’re visiting between the two festivals. With most folks having already booked their vacation packages for the year, we can imagine this news was pretty shocking for those with plans to attend the festival. EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival We reached out to you, our DFB Readers, to see how you felt about this shorter festival, as well as if this will impact your Disney World plans this year. Some of you told us that you’re disappointed about how short the festival is this year. Marlaina said, “I’m a bit disappointed. We will be there the 2nd week of June. We didn’t plan our trip around possible festival dates but I was hoping to see the beautiful topiaries and gardens.” Berlin at Garden Rocks in 2023 Laura commented, “This was going to be my first time experiencing this festival and I’ll literally just miss it “ Tina added, “We usually go in late May-early June and I’ll be VERY SAD not to see the flower and garden festival.” Chris said, “Yes! Was looking forward to it but will be there 2 days after it ends!“ EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival Other readers say that this disrupts their plans for their Disney World trips this year. Jacki told us, “We are super sad! Flower and Garden is our favorite festival and we have been going in June after my daughter gets out of school. I told her last night about when the festival is ending and she had a moment! We might have to figure out how to get there this spring without taking too many days off of school. “ Mickey & Minnie in bloom! Helen had something similar to say: “We normally go in September when the food and wine festival is on but due to getting time off work we’ve had to book June this year so we were looking forward to a different festival this year. Oh well maybe Epcot will be quieter.” EPCOT during the Flower and Garden Festival Patricia told us, “Yes!! We just booked nonrefundable airfare for early June to specifically go down for the festival!!! How disappointing!!” Oh, ouch. That’s always disappointing when it’s too late to change your plans! 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival Some of you have even changed your plans because of the shorter festival. Tara said, “Yes. I rescheduled so we wouldn’t miss it.” Azalea said, “Yes! Simple Plan at Garden Rocks has been our summer tradition for a few years now. We will probably go somewhere else on vacation in June.” Japan pavilion during the festival Some of you, though, prefer to go to EPCOT between festivals and think it could mean fewer crowds in the time between the Flower and Garden Festival and the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. Tanya said, “My friend is going to WDW for the very first time in June and I gave her the news yesterday. But I think her family is better off not being overwhelmed with food options any more than regular EPCOT.” Food from Magnolia Terrace at the 2023 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Jen commented, “We were a little disappointed last year when Food and Wine started a little later and we just missed the start date, but it honestly worked out. World Showcase was easier to navigate without the booths and lines. We were able to eat our long neglected favorites rather than passing them up to roll the dice on festival food that we may or may not enjoy. The festivals are fun, but missing them can offer a few perks.” 2023 Northern Bloom Booth Jessica said, “Nope, it will be nice to go to Epcot without a festival going on.” So some of you are obviously disappointed about the shorter festival this year, but this is about how long the festival used to be before 2020, so it’s just another thing returning to “normal” at Disney World this year.
