Walt Disney once famously said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” Well, it’s safe to say Walt wouldn’t be shocked by the latest Disneyland news! Partners Statue in Disneyland The Disneyland Resort is no stranger to change. From the creation of Disney California Adventure in 2001 to expansions such as Avengers Campus, Cars Land, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland continues to pioneer theme park innovation not only in Southern California but all over the globe. However, like Walt suggested, the work is never done and Disney plans to continue to create and expand with its latest project, DisneylandForward! Announced in 2021, DisneylandForward came into play as a multi-year Disneyland and Anaheim Resort expansion and redesign that would expand and update two existing approvals from the 1990s. In layman’s terms, DisneylandForward would not only allow extra theme park development to the land surrounding the Disneyland Resort, but also expand the resort’s lodging, retail, parking, and dining options. Just this week, Disney representatives met with Anaheim’s city council to shed more light on the proposed plans. DisneylandForward concept art ©Disney At the Anaheim City Council meeting, some more details were shared about monetary numbers as well as proposed ideas. The big point of emphasis was that Disney is committed to spending $1.9 billion over the next decade under this proposal and is not relying on public funding to bring this plan to fruition. Not only that, but DisneylandForward is a 40-year-long project when it’s all said and done. ©Disney The point of DisneylandForward is to provide flexibility for the Disneyland Resort to build more theme park attractions, lands, lodging options, retail locations, and dining spots without the constraints of land obstacles and zoning restrictions. This project would unify the Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Resort areas into one unified entertainment center — essentially a miniature version of Disney World. More about DisneylandForward ©Disney Disney’s $1.9 billion investment would go towards these possible resort additions and would primarily focus on locations west of Disneyland Drive and the current Toy Story parking lot. Disney would use DisneylandForward to enhance parking for both guests and cast members while adding a new transportation center. ©City of Anaheim Expansion would of course require a larger workforce, and Disney mentioned how the theme park district would get its own police and firefighting substations in addition to the possibility of more officer/firefighter jobs and an increase in cast member hirings. Always a Light On for Walt Disney When it came to theme park expansion, Disney proposed projects themed after Coco, Black Panther, Tangled, Frozen, Zootopia, Peter Pan, Tron, and Toy Story. During the meeting, Disney specifically referenced its other lands in international parks, such as the latest Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disney Resort, the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland, and the new Rapunzel’s Forest opening at Tokyo DisneySea later this year. To build more expansive lands and attractions, Disneyland would need these proposed city planning and zoning guidelines to be approved. New Zootopia Land in Shanghai Disney ©Disney It’s important to note that this plan does not purchase additional land but instead allows Disney to modify land it already owns but can’t currently work on because of zoning regulations. To get the ball rolling, Disney has offered to commit to investing between $1.9 and $2.5 billion plus an additional $5 million in street infrastructure improvements if $600 million is not spent within a decade. Additionally, the company has offered the city of Anaheim more funds for sewage upgrades, park upgrades, workforce boosting, and low-income housing among others in this proposed plan. Disney would also move the new Disney Vacation Club rooms into more normal tax operations akin to non-time share lodging in the area to further boost tax revenue for Anaheim. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel Disneyland has a few more meetings planned before a vote is held in late spring and we could see adjustments and new proposals made between now and then. The next DisneylandForward proposal is scheduled for an Anaheim Planning Commission hearing in March. Disney California Adventure To say the impact of DisneylandForward is huge is an understatement, and we’ll be sure to cover the proposed plan as updates unfold. It’s almost time for the BIGGEST game of the year, the Super Bowl, and you’ve lined up your Disney World vacation in the same week… whoops! Super Bowl treats at Disney World We like to tell you about our favorite Disney World hotels to stay in, things to do while in Disney, and places to eat, but where do you go when you need a place to hop back into reality for a few hours to keep from missing the most important game of the season. Well, we’re glad you asked! While we love being at Disney World on vacation, we sometimes can’t ignore other major life happenings while we’re away. Toy Story Land crowds When certain special events, like the Super Bowl, only come around once every year, it’s a big deal to a lot of people. With so many folks investing in their favorite teams playing, who’s going to win it all this year, and even just watching to see the commercials and half-time show, a lot is riding on being able to see it all while it plays out in real-time. Magic Kingdom Since Disney World doesn’t typically close, you may find yourself scrambling to take a little bit of time out of your long days in the park to unwind, sit down for a bit, and enjoy the game… but where do you have a place to do that inside of Disney World? Don’t worry, we’ve got thoughts! Rix Sports Bar & Grill This first option we have to recommend may feel like a no-brainer. It’s literally written into the name of the place. Rix Sports Bar & Grill Rix Sports Bar & Grill could be the optimal spot for you because they’re going to have it all! Not only will they have T.V.’s around to watch the game (maybe from multiple stations), but they’re also equipped to offer you light bites and beverages so you won’t have to leave through the whole game. Inside Rix Sports Bar and Grill If this sounds ideal to you, you can find this spot at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort right across from their main quick service location, El Mercado de Coronado. We’re going to warn you about this one though, it can get full quickly since it’s a smaller restaurant — if this is a spot you want to claim, come early! Lounges with TVs — Crew’s Cup, Belle Vue, & Geyser Point Hotel lounges could be optimal, too! Crew’s Cup Lounge Several of the Disney World hotels (mainly the deluxe category) will have smaller lounges that would be a prime spot to enjoy the game. Just to name a few of our favorites, The Crew’s Cup Lounge at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and the Belle Vue Lounge at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort has a smaller space outfitted with T.V.s that will help keep you in the zone with the game and not so distracted by everything else going on. Belle Vue Lounge If you’re looking for a different kind of atmosphere that won’t feel so stuffed, another option to consider is Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. Geyser Point Bar and Grill Geyser Point is an outdoor lounge that is outfitted with several tables and longer padded seating like patio furniture that might be a bit more comfy to you if you plan to be there through the whole game. CityWorks CityWorks Eatery & Pour House can be found at Disney Springs and might be one of the best indoor options we can suggest to you! The large bar inside CityWorks It’s a larger restaurant that’s got massive T.V.s that are clustered together and may be able to offer the best viewing experience of them all. This is also another solid choice because of the obvious reasons. Here, you’ll be able to grab more food than just a light appetizer and drink all while enjoying it from a booth or table seat. Hotel Pool Bar (If they’ve got a T.V.) This one is a bit unconventional but could work if a T.V. was brought out for the occasion. Banana Cabana Lounge and Pool Bar It doesn’t hurt to stop by the front desk of your Disney World hotel and ask if (and where) they’ll be showing the Super Bowl. Hear us out, if there’s a T.V. brought out near the hotel’s pool bar, that could be an ideal spot, especially if you’re visiting with family. Hotel pool bar Everybody wins if the rest of your crew can dive in for a swim close by while you’re trying to keep from missing the biggest game of the season! Hotel Room Stating the obvious, if you really want to make sure you’re not going to miss a moment of the action, you can always opt to watch the game from your Disney World hotel room. Your own room! The T.V.s in the room are outfitted with several local channels and will be easy to switch back and forth between stations to your preference rather than relying on the restaurant to play your favorite. If you’re looking to be in control of what you’re viewing, this is probably the option you’ll want to line up! Your Own Phone We get it, you’re torn. Disney World is expensive and sitting inside a room or taking time away from your family to sit inside a lounge or restaurant doesn’t sound ideal. What’s the next best compromise? Well, you’ll be watching from your own phone! ©Amazon Choosing this option allows you full control of what you’re watching, when, how often, and how loudly (hopefully with headphones) if you’re going to remain in the parks. This option certainly wouldn’t keep you from being able to go about the rest of your vacation as you typically would AND could give you something to pass the time while you’re waiting in lines between rides. Lunar New Year has arrived in Disney California Adventure! Longevity Noodle Co. Marketplace 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, and the park will mark the year’s arrival with the annual Lunar New Year celebration, which takes place from January 23rd through February 18th this year. There will be lots of new eats at the food booths, fun entertainment offerings, merchandise, and more. We’ve already shared the full menus for ALL the booths, but today we’re stopping by the Longevity Noodle Co. booth to review the goods. Come see what we found! Menu This year, Longevity Noodle Co. has one returning food item, a new noodle dish and a new drink! The Menu Last year we thought this was a pretty solid booth, but overall nothing special. We were honestly unimpressed with how plain the food was. How did it fare this year? Let’s take a look! Eats First on the menu are the Garlic Noodles for $8, which are long noodles tossed in zesty garlic butter and parmesan. Last year, we thought that this dish was good — they are cheesy noodles, after all, but there wasn’t anything super exciting about it. Longevity Noodle Co. Garlic Noodles It was basically spaghetti with parmesan and garlic. However, we thought it would have been a good pick for those with a pickier palette. We didn’t grab this dish this year, but we did grab… The Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles! These bad boys could be all yours for $9. These are pan-fried lo mein noodles with sautéed shrimp garnished with green onions. Shrimp Lo Mein Wow! Our first impression of this dish was that it has some GREAT spice. It isn’t too spicy, though, and it pairs well with the salty taste of the sauce. If you love Asian food, you probably know exactly what we mean. It’s like that red pepper flavor mixed with soy sauce. Yum! This flavor also pairs well with the cabbage, which provides a bright, fresh flavor that really adds some complexity to the dish. Oh, and that shrimp? It’s cooked to perfection and each piece is perfectly covered in seasoning. We’d recommend this to anyone who loves a classic lo mein dish that doesn’t mind a tiny hint of spice. Now, let’s talk about DRINKS! Drinks Finally, we tried the NEW Dragon Cocktail for $17. This is made with Dragonberry rum, white rum, lychee nectar, dragon fruit and Chinese five-spice syrups, lime juice, and house-made coriander tea garnished with a dried dragon fruit wheel. Dragon Cocktail Wow, wow, and wow. There are so many great flavors in this drink. It’s seriously SWEET, but that’s okay. It’s so fruity and sweet that you can’t even taste the rum, which can be dangerous. It also has a bit of a tart flavor from the lime juice, which was much appreciated since it helped balance out that sweetness. We’d recommend this to anyone who wants an alcoholic drink but doesn’t like the taste of alcohol, and it’s also great for those that have a sweet tooth. Also returning from last year is the Lotus Flower Glow Cube for $6, which you can add to your bevi. Overall This booth has some pretty safe options that many guests can enjoy. Plus, we were excited to see some complexity in the Shrimp Lo Mein this year that we didn’t get with the garlic noodles last year. If you like shrimp, you should get the Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles, and for those looking for an Instagramable cocktail, the Dragon Cocktail is right up your alley! The spread! Doesn’t it feel like sometimes you’re seeing something at Disney World for the very first time? Hollywood Studios We’re not really talking about new attractions, restaurants, or experiences that have just popped up. No, we’re talking about those things that might as well have been Hidden Mickey’s for all the times we’ve passed them like they were hiding in plain sight. Well, we were today years old when we found out that there are some special Disney World guests who have their own private bus stop and we’d never noticed it! Let’s set the stage. We’re having a lovely time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when we decide it’s time to take a bus to our next destination. We pull up to the Bus Directory to find out which gate we need to go to like we always do. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Bus Directory We started scanning the sign to figure out our gate when we noticed there was one stop we had never noticed before. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Bus Directory Golden Oak has its own bus stop?? We had to see if this was real or if we were dreaming. On to gate 61! Bus Stop Directional Sign at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Side note, if you didn’t know, Golden Oak at Disney World is an upscale residential community that’s located on Disney property and is filled with luxurious homes that are built by Golden Oak Realty and Disney Signature Experiences. They’re incredible homes that are stunning to look at and come at a pretty penny! But, enough about that. Let’s get back to finding that bus stop! So, we’re making our way to Gate 61 (this section of the bus pickup is typically reserved for rideshare and taxi), when lo and behold, we find what we’re looking for! Golden Oak Bus Stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Here was the “mystical” Golden Oak bus stop sign. We felt like we had found the golden ticket, but we had to know more. Golden Oak Bus Stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios We spoke with a Cast Member who was nearby and found out that we were not hallucinating or delusional, and that we in fact had found the pickup for Golden Oak. They went on to share that pickups were only done by appointment with a Golden Oak van service. Would you look at that? The more you know. Think you handle the HEAT?! If you crave all things spicy, there’s one Disney snack booth that has your name written all over it. Red Dragon Spice Traders If you head to Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort between January 23rd and February 18th, 2024, you’ll get to celebrate the Lunar New Year there with festive food booths, fun character appearances, merchandise, and more. One Festival booth — Red Dragon Spice Traders — claims to be bringing in some spicy treats that’ll truly honor the Year of the Dragon. But will these set your mouth on fire or just leave you disappointed? Let’s find out! Menu At the Red Dragon booth, you’ll find one new snack (the Spicy Fried Rice) and one returning food item (the Red Spice Fried Chicken Bites). Red Dragon Spice Traders Booth There are also some alcoholic drinks available — again, one new (Peach Basil Collins) and one returning (Guava Whiskey Cocktail) — as well as some little souvenirs. Let’s tackle the food first. Eats First, we have the NEW Spicy Fried Rice with tofu and crispy peas. This is priced at $8. We’ve had MANY a fried rice over the years — it’s a staple at places like Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So how would this one deliver in terms of flavor? Spicy Fried Rice The spicy fried rice is a GREAT veggie option and brought some good heat! We thought it was a little weird to find both regular and dehydrated peas in it, though. The dehydrated ones looked like they could have been in the freezer a bit too long (but they taste fine though.) The tofu had a good texture to it against the rice. This dish was very enjoyable and had lots of flavor. Next, we have the returning Red Spice Fried Chicken Bites. These are Fried chicken chicharrones in a spicy red chile sauce. They’re priced at $8.75. In 2023, the chicken delivered that kick we were hoping for, leaving our lips with that deliciously tingly burning sensation spicy food leaves behind as you eat more of it. So, how did it taste this year? Red Spice Fried Chicken Bites This dish was a WINNER in our book again this year! It’s got a good kick to it, without the spice getting out of control. It did make our noses run a bit though, so watch out for that! It was nice and crispy with great flavor and was a decent-sized portion. Now, onto the drinks! Drinks First, we have a new drink option, the Peach Basil Collins. This is made with Gin, ginger liqueur, white peach purée, lemon juice, and house-made Thai basil syrup. It is then topped with Topo Chico and garnished with a purple pansy. This drink does NOT come cheap though — it’ll set you back $17. Is it worth it? Peach Basil Collins We were a little underwhelmed by this one and didn’t feel like it had enough peach flavor to it. It had more of a heavy ginger flavor, however, we also had just eaten lots of spices in the dishes so it could have been hidden by that. It was good to try, but it wasn’t our favorite and we’re not certain we would go back to order it again. The other drink available at this booth is the returning Guava Whiskey Cocktail. This is made with Whiskey, ginger liqueur, guava nectar, coconut cream, and lime juice. It is then garnished with a lime wheel. This drink is only slightly cheaper at $16. In 2023, we really enjoyed this drink. After we stirred it well (be sure to do that so you don’t just get a swig of whiskey!), we found it was fruity, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. Guava Ginger Whiskey 2023 If you want to add a little pizazz to your drink order, you can also pick up the new Mickey-shaped Macaron Straw Clip here (there’s a limit of 2 per person, per transaction, $7.75 each)… ©Disney …or the returning Lotus Flower Glow Cube (there’s a limit of 10 per person, per transaction, $6 each). Lotus Flower Glowing Cube from 2023 Overall Overall, if you’re looking for a spot that really turns up the HEAT when it comes to savory dishes, and offers a few alcoholic beverages for good measure too, stop by Red Dragon Spice Traders! These days, Minnie ears are such a common Disney World souvenir that you can probably spot at least one pair of ears in a group of ten people. They’ve become a theme park staple — your wardrobe isn’t complete without at least one pair of ears, right? Minnie Ears Whether you have a collection of 17+ ears or you’re just getting started, one thing’s for sure: Minnie ears aren’t going anywhere. In fact, Disney just shared some interesting clues about some upcoming product releases, and we’ve already got an entire LIST of predictions. Let’s take a look! Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Disney recently shared a roundup of allll the latest Minnie ears released in the parks and resorts, including those new Stitch ears, the Evil Queen ears, the 2024 Brave New World ears, and more. January isn’t even over yet, and we’ve already seen a TON of new merchandise in the parks. For all you collectors out there, be prepared for a BUSY year. Stitch ears! Here’s a peek at some of the most recent Minnie ears we’ve seen at the parks and resorts. This one has a retro Mickey and Minnie print with a colorful sequined bow. How cute! Play in the Parks Minnie Ears Speaking of sequins, take a look at these SHINY new Snow White-inspired ears. They match Snow White’s signature dress with a simple red bow in the center. Snow White Ears Now, here’s where things get interesting. Disney shared some clever hints about FIVE new ears debuting in 2024. Here’s what to look out for: Paint Brush Bag of Flour Dragon Magic Staff Sewing Needle Fantasyland Time to put on your detective hats, people! Let’s start placing our bets. First of all, all five of those ears sound like they would come straight from the kingdom of Fantasyland. A dragon? Could it be Maleficent? Magic Staff? That sounds like it could belong to Merlin, Jafar, or even King Magnifico! Maleficient in Festival of Fantasy We know a few mice who know how to use a sewing needle. (Looking at you, Suzy and Perla!) Cinderella’s Fountain OK, we have a theory on the Bag of Flour. Remember the scene in Sleeping Beauty where Fauna tries to make a cake for Aurora? Well, she tried her best, but we bet she used (at least) one bag of flour during her foray into baking. ©Disney Some of these clues could be a Red Herring, though! After all, Mushu is a dragon, too. And Rapunzel spent a loooot of time in her tower sewing (and painting with a paintbrush… ). Mulan & Mushu in Disneyland Disney hasn’t shared when these new ears will arrive, so keep your eyes out for new souvenirs! Check out our video below for more Magic Kingdom news. Happy Year of the Dragon, everyone! We’re celebrating the Lunar New Year in Disneyland! Lucky 8 Lantern As you may know, every year, Disneyland has a special Lunar New Year Festival at Disney California Adventure, and that festival means that not only do we get to see some FUN Lunar New Year merchandise, but we also get to eat some AMAZING food at the festival’s food booths! We’re heading over to the Lucky 8 Lantern booth now to check things out! Menu Okay, so what’s so exciting about the menu at Lucky 8 Lantern this year? We have TWO returning favorite snacks and TWO NEW festival drinks! This booth offers a little bit of everything: a little bit of savory, a little bit of sweet, and drinks! Lucky 8 Lantern Menu So let’s dive in and check out all this new food! Eats Okay, let’s start with the savory option here, the Quesabirria Eggroll with Guajillo pepper consommé for $9. Last year, we liked this, although the beef birria was a little dry. So, how does it hold up this year? Quesabirria egg roll Unfortunately, we felt pretty much the same this year. It was incredibly soggy on the outside while somehow being just as dry as we remembered on the inside. The consommé had a good flavor and was nice and peppery which helped to elevate the snack a bit, but overall this one was a disappointment again. Lots of flavor Now for something a little sweet. We’re digging into the Mandarin Mousse Cake for $6.75. It’s made with layers of mandarin mousse with vanilla cake and clementine compote finished with white chocolate crunch balls and a tangerine glaze. For starters, this is a GORGEOUS cake. Last year, we thought it was okay — we were a little weirded out by that jelly texture on the outside. The flavors of the mousse also seemed artificial. So, how does it taste this year? Mandarin Orange Mousse Cake Once again, that jelly texture just didn’t wow us — though we did love the overall flavor of this dessert. It was a bit on the artificial side rather than tasting like fresh oranges, but if you can get past that it makes for a solid little treat. There are definitely better desserts available at this festival, but this one would probably be great for major orange fans. Mandarin Orange Mousse Cake Okay, on to beverages! Drinks Need a quick pick-me-up? You can grab the Hibiscus Apple Soju-rita for $17. It’s made with Blanco tequila, grapefruit liqueur, soju, green apple and hibiscus syrups, house-made hibiscus tea, and lemon juice garnished with a dried apple chip. We enjoyed this — it was super bitter and sweet at the same time! We tasted more grapefruit than apple, but it was extremely refreshing. There wasn’t much of an alcohol flavor to this, so be warned! Hibiscus Apple Soju-Rita Next up, the Mango Melon Cocktail for $17. It’s made with Overproof rum, baijiu, allspice liqueur, mango nectar, rock melon syrup, and lime juice topped with grapefruit soda and garnished with a lime wheel. This was a winner in our book — tasted like a crisp mango soda. The melon added a bit of sweetness that added to the overall sugary vibes of the drink. Think something you’d want to sip on while lounging by the pool! Mango Melon Cocktail Note that you can also get the Lotus Flower Glow Cube here for $6.25. Overall So, should you stop by the Lucky 8 Lantern booth at this year’s Lunar New Year Festival? Well, it’s complicated. We enjoyed the drinks we had here but weren’t too impressed by either of the food offerings. The egg roll is such a great concept that it may still be worth trying, but we’re 0 for 2 over here. You’ve probably heard about the tunnels beneath Magic Kingdom in Disney World. You’ve maybe even heard of the tunnels in EPCOT. Frontierland But we just learned about a SECRET tunnel in Disneyland that leads to absolutely nowhere, and we had to share! Former Imagineer Bob Gurr recently shared a video on Instagram that shows off a hidden tunnel in Frontierland. You can find it when you’re in Fantasyland heading over towards Galaxy’s Edge. Now, most will not spot it since it is quite hidden and the area doesn’t have anything that would draw your eyes towards it. But those of you who have noticed it might have wondered what that tunnel does and where it leads! Now, as Bob describes, this tunnel didn’t always lead to nowhere. For years, a train ran through it that went around Big Thunder Mountain (before it was Big Thunder). That attraction was called the Mine Train through Nature’s Wonderland. It featured all sorts of lifelike animals like bears and wildcats. It was later removed to make way for Big Thunder Mountain. ©D23 So, it has been years since anything has run through the tunnel and now it just sits empty. There isn’t really a use for it, but it doesn’t make sense to get rid of it either. Therefore, there is just a small tunnel that leads to nowhere hidden in Disneyland. Keep your eyes peeled for it the next time you’re there and let us know if you can spot it! Want to know about the hidden tunnel that runs beneath the Magic Kingdom? We have all the details for you here! Here’s a little sneak peek at what those Magic Kingdom tunnels look like. ©Disney | Obtained via News 6 Orlando Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Disney has brought the movies straight to our homes to enjoy from the comfort of our own living rooms. ©Disney Several movies have been released direct to Disney+, skipping the theater debut altogether. A few of those are being re-released in the theater, giving us a chance to see it on the big screen. But many movies are still getting their chance to become box office hits before landing on the streaming platform. The most recent of these has been Disney’s Wish. Now that Wish has been in theaters for some time now, we’re all starting to wonder when it’s coming to Disney+. Currently, Disney has not made any announcements letting us in on the Disney+ release date of the movie Wish. The movie that follows young Asha on her journey to make wishes come true didn’t initially do too well in the theaters, according to Forbes, and did not receive any Oscar nominations. ©Disney Yet, many Disney fans truly loved the movie and are eagerly awaiting its arrival on Disney+. So let’s take a look at a similar movie’s timeline for going from theaters to Disney+ to get an idea of when we might expect Wish to make its streaming premiere. ©Disney Disney Pixar’s Elemental was first released to theaters on June 16th, 2023, and was soon found on Disney+ on September 13th of the same year. Within the first seven days on the streaming platform, it reached high success and broke records. Elemental Photo Op at Hollywood Studios So Elemental went from theaters to Disney+ in about 3 months. If we use this logic, we can look at the theater release date for Wish, which was November 22nd, 2023, and count three months from then, which would put us in February 2024. There was speculation that this could be the case, but the February list of shows and movies coming to Disney+ has been released and Wish was not on it. That doesn’t mean that it couldn’t still happen, though! Asha from the new movie ‘Wish’ Wish was just recently released on digital platforms such as Video on Demand, Blu-ray, and DVD on January 23rd. So Disney may decide to hold it from Disney+ for a little longer so it can earn profits here. This is similar to how movies used to be released before the pandemic. Wish So when can we expect to see Wish on Disney+? It could be very soon or just another few months. You can be sure that we’ll be keeping our eyes open for any announcements! Until then, keep following DFB for more Disney news! Disney Just Released a Deleted Song from ‘Wish’ — Please Excuse Us While We Grab a Tissue. If you’re looking for some seriously iconic limited-time eats, you’re in the right place! Bamboo Blessings Booth The 2024 Lunar New Year celebration has started in Disney California Adventure Park in Disneyland Resort, and it has a lot to offer! There’s special merchandise, entertainment, and (of course) PLENTY of food to try. For now, we’re making our way over to the Bamboo Blessings food booth. Is it a place you absolutely MUST visit? Let’s find out! 2024 is the Year of the Dragon; the park will mark its arrival with the annual Lunar New Year celebration, which takes place from January 23rd through February 18th this year. Menu The menu at Bamboo Blessings is pretty big, but that’s mostly because of all of the tasty beverages you can find here! In terms of food items, two iconic snacks are returning to the Festival — the Mickey Mouse-shaped Hot Dog Bun and the Mickey Mouse-shaped Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron Macaron. ©Disney There are a few returning drinks, too, but 2024 has changed up the drink menu here, and this year, offers Taro Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee, Lunar New Year Punch, and a Lunar Punch Cocktail. Bamboo Blessings Menu Let’s take a better look at just what you can enjoy here! Eats First up, we have the Mickey Mouse-shaped Hot Dog Bun. This is made of Brioche-style Mickey Mouse-shaped buns stuffed with hot dog and finished with sesame seeds and scallions. It’s priced at $7.50. This has made our best of the fest list in the past for good reason — it’s fun, tasty, and a unique spin on a classic theme park hot dog. Mickey Mouse-shaped Hot Dog Bun In the past, when we’ve had this, the bun has been REALLY good, much flakier and lighter than a normal hot dog bun. The hot dogs typically taste just like ones you’d get at a grocery store, but they’re still pretty good. This year, we thought the hot dog bun tasted even BETTER! It was soft and warm, yet thick and flaky all at once. Our hot dog was juicy and flavorful, too. In terms of flavor, we’re not saying this is groundbreaking, but it’s a simple, warm, savory dish we keep coming back to every year. It’s a win! Here’s a peek inside the Mickey Mouse-shaped Hot Dog Bun Next up, we have the Mickey Mouse-shaped Purple Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron. This is a Red macaron filled with Strawberry buttercream with a milk tea center. It’s priced at $7. OK, honestly, this is just a standard Disney macaron. It’s got a very sweet strawberry flavor that’s not overly artificial, which is nice. The crunch on the outside was satisfying, and that soft inside filling complemented the crunchy shell perfectly. Mickey Mouse-shaped Purple Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron Just be warned that it can be messy to eat, and because there are a lot of textures filling your mouth at once, you might want to have a drink nearby to sip on. This is a great pick for those who LOVE buttercream and like treats that aren’t overly sweet. Be warned, your lips may turn red from all that food dye! Now, let’s talk about those drinks! Drinks On the menu are a LOT of drinks! There are THREE new drinks here, and all look so tempting! First up the Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee. This drink is Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Vietnamese-style Coffee, cocoa powder, and condensed milk garnished with a taro chocolate sweet cream for $7. This one is a GREAT coffee option! The taro cold foam is sweet, so when you take a sip with the coffee, it cuts through that bitter coffee flavor. This drink had a rich chocolate taste to it (from the cocoa powder), which we quite enjoyed as well. We highly recommend this drink — it may not look like a regular cup of coffee, but the flavors are worth exploring. Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Vietnamese-style Coffee Next, let’s try the Lunar New Year Punch. This drink is Mango nectar, tangerine and grapefruit juices, and banana and coconut syrups garnished with mango jellies for $7. This one is pretty sweet, and it’s definitely designed for theme park guests who like sugary drinks over strong alcoholic beverages. That said, it’s fruity and tropical and has a strong coconut flavor profile. If you don’t like the taste of strong alcohol, you’ll probably enjoy this drink. Lunar New Year Punch Or you can opt for the alcoholic version of this drink, which comes with coconut rum and is garnished with a purple orchid for $17. If you want to top off your drink with something fun, grab the Lotus Flower Glow Cube. It’s available at this booth for $6 and there is a limit 10 per guest, per transaction. Passion Fruit Green Tea with Lotus Blossom Glow Cube | 2018 And that’s it for the eats and drinks! Overall Overall, the eats at this booth are relatively simple but include the iconic Mickey-shaped hot dog (a great one for pickier eaters) and the Macaron (a good pick for your Instagram and buttercream lovers). Plus, if you’re looking to try a whole bunch of beers, you’ll find PLENTY to pick from here and convenient flights to help you sample a few of them at once. While the food isn’t the most unique, it’s a good booth to stop by for a quick snack and Mickey-shaped food (which is a popular pick for many Disney fans). EPCOT festivals are a way of life for us at DFB. 2023 Food and Wine Festival We live for the next festival. When one is done, we’re prepping for the next. We try every single booth at all four festivals and check out all the entertainment and merchandise. If there’s an EPCOT festival logo on it, we’re checking it out. Possibly our favorite EPCOT festival is the Food and Wine Festival. This fall festival is loaded with fun! As we wait for the dates of the 2024 Food and Wine Festival to be released, we’re starting to wonder if it might be starting a little later this year. We’ve started prepping for the 2024 Flower and Garden Festival in EPCOT, but we’ve also started looking a little further into the future at the 2024 Food and Wine Festival. This got us predicting when we may get an announcement for the festival’s dates and how long it might run in 2024. We thought about the following four clues that have us questioning if it’s going to be shorter this year than the past few years. It Used to Start in August Way back before the pandemic, the Food and Wine Festival started in August and ran through November. Close to the last day in August, we would gather our crew and head to EPCOT to test out all the food and drinks. But all of that ended in 2019. 2019 Food and Wine Festival In 2020, closely following the re-opening of the parks, the Food and Wine Festival began in JULY! We have continued to see it opening in July since then, but is it possible that Disney will turn things around and go back to the old ways of the festival? It was meant to be a fall festival after all. The 2023 Festival Started 10+ Days Later Than in 2020, 2021, and 2022 Following this same idea, the 2023 Food and Wine Festival started 10 or more days later in July than in 2020, 2021, and 2022. It wasn’t August, but it was late July instead of mid-July. 2023 Food and Wine Festival Is it possible that 2023 was the beginning of a new trend meant to start the Food and Wine Festival later in the year again? It could be possible that Disney is working it back into a fall festival rather than a half-summer, half-fall festival. The 2024 Flower and Garden Was Shortened Now hear us out, the 2024 Flower and Garden Festival was shortened by a whopping 36 days compared to 2023! And we just told you that the 2023 Food and Wine Festival was shorter by 10 or more days than the previous three years. 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival It’s unclear why the Flower and Garden Festival was shortened by a whole month this year, but could the Food and Wine Festival suffer the same fate? This makes us very curious about the start and/or end date of the fall festival that we so dearly love. Is Disney Trying to Make Space for a New Festival? If we put all of these clues together — a shorter 2024 Flower and Garden Festival, shortening the 2023 Food and Wine Festival, and the fact that it used to start in August — we have to wonder what is going to happen with all the time between the Flower and Garden Festival and the Food and Wine Festival, if indeed it is shorter. 2023 Food and Wine Festival As we discussed in a separate post, is there any chance that both the Flower and Garden and Food and Wine Festivals are being shortened to accommodate a new, summer festival? There are already festivals for each of the other three seasons — spring (Flower and Garden Festival), fall (Food and Wine Festival), and winter (Festival of the Arts)– why not include a summer festival to round it out? By shortening the Flower and Garden Festival and the Food and Wine Festival, Disney would have two or more months to bring in a new addition. 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts While this is all just speculation at this point, it is possible. The 2024 Food and Wine Festival may be shorter this year than in the past few years, but we’ll just have to wait and find out! (And we wouldn’t complain about a NEW festival!) Every Disney World hotel has its own pros and cons — even the Deluxe Resorts. Sure, Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort is stunning, but it’s also preeeeety expensive. And yes, Disney’s BoardWalk Hotel is conveniently steps away from the EPCOT park entrance, but right now, it’s also under construction. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, booking the right hotel can play a BIG part in your vacation. Does your hotel have the amenities you need to easily get to and from the parks? Is your hotel quiet enough to get a peaceful sleep? Does the cost fit in your budget? Here’s something else to consider: do you mind staying at a hotel that’s under refurbishment? OK, let’s back up for a second. Parts of Disney’s BoardWalk Hotel are currently under refurbishment. While parts of the project are already complete, there is still quite a bit of work to be done around the resort. For example, we’re still waiting for Disney to announce the opening date for its NEW Cake Bake Shop Restaurant, a table service dining spot by Gwendolyn Rogers. Cake Bake Shop construction progress In addition to the new restaurants, look out for new carpet, hallways, and decor throughout the hotel. As you can see, there are quite a few construction walls up around the hotel, so if you prefer not to look at construction equipment on vacation, you may want to consider another hotel. New dining spot opening soon! But why are we talking about all this construction right now? Well, we recently spoke with a BoardWalk Cast Member who shared an important reminder about upcoming resort stays. According to the Cast Member, some DVC Villas are still under refurbishment, and construction is going on longer than Disney originally expected. BoardWalk The Cast Member also confirmed that due to the ongoing construction, there is a possibility that guests may need to move rooms. Note that there’s no guarantee that your stay at the BoardWalk Hotel will be impacted by construction, but if select DVC Villas are still under construction longer than anticipated, guests may need to switch rooms. Disney hasn’t shared an exact construction end date, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we know more. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Of course, if your hotel stay is impacted by construction, a Disney World Cast Member will take care of those room changes, so all you have to do is sit back and let them do the work!
