It’s almost time! Welcome to the Pixar Place Hotel! It may feel like it’s been forever since work first began to transform Paradise Pier Hotel into the all-new Pixar Place Hotel and now that day has almost come. Starting tomorrow, we’ll be able to walk through the doors of this beautiful hotel and experience all of the latest updates, artwork, and more. Late last year, Disney shared new details about the opening timeline for this reimagined hotel, and we got a peek into the updated feel that aimed to “weave the artistry of Pixar into its comfortable, contemporary setting.” New glass character decor The new stylized atmosphere and decor took aim to help its visitors get “a new perspective on some of their favorite Pixar worlds and characters.” A lot of the features that will be visible throughout the entire hotel will be placed strategically around to highlight the creative journey of the artists who bring the beloved Pixar stories to life. We’ve already seen this come to life in the recently opened lobby for the hotel! Finding Nemo mural in Pixar Place Lobby You’ll want to look everywhere in this hotel (high and low) because you never know what you’ll spot next! Extensive care was taken with consideration into every updated detail to help you feel like you’ve stepped into a modern Pixar art gallery. Lobby Check-In Desks Even the rooms look like you’ve stepped into an animation storyboard with lots of familiar Pixar pals! Did you spot the Luxo ball detail in the decorative pillow on each bed? Pixar Place Hotel Room The pool area is nice and open and even features a sleek design perfect for catching a few rays of sunshine. Is that Crush the Turtle on top of the water slide, we see? That makes total sense to us! ©Disney If you haven’t already made your reservations here for your next Disneyland visit, we think this one will really be a hit! We love the fun theming and sophisticated look. We’re really excited to see how well this updated look of the hotel is received by everyone! A few years ago, Disney World added one BIG perk to select hotels. Who’s up for a ride on the Skyliner? That’s right, we’re talking about the Disney Skyliner! This new-ish form of transportation opened in 2019 and since then, those staying at Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, and Riviera Resort have been able to ride “The Most Magical Flight on Earth” to select locations. The Skyliner has been so popular, in fact, that sometimes people will park at Hollywood Studios just to hop on it and ride the loop! But if you’re hoping for a ride, you should know that there are certain times when you CAN’T ride the Skyliner in Disney World. Outside of Operating Hours This may seem obvious, but you can’t ride the Disney Skyliner outside of its operating hours! Like all other forms of complimentary Disney transportation, the Skyliner does not run 24/7. Typically, we see it opening around 7:30AM and closing around 10:30PM, although those hours can shift depending on park hours that day. Hours for the Skyliner Lines often form for the Skyliner before it opens in the morning. And if you find yourself leaving the park after the Skyliner has already closed for the night, you’ll have to find an alternate mode of transportation. When There Are Weather Issues In Florida, it rains…A LOT. And if there are thunderstorms in the area, the Skyliner will be required to close for the safety of the riders. If that happens, Disney will typically offer buses that run to the usual Skyliner destinations instead. Disney World Skyliner The Skyliner may also close if there’s excessive wind. Because the gondolas are attached to the cords by one hanging arm, they tend to swing if it’s particularly windy, so Disney will wait until the wind dies down to reopen. When Going to Other Parks and Hotels One thing you may not know if you aren’t a Disney expert is that the Skyliner doesn’t run all over Disney World — only to a select number of locations. The only two parks it services are EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, so you can’t ride the Skyliner to get to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. Disney Skyliner The Skyliner also has stations at a few resorts — Riviera, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. Those staying at the EPCOT area resorts (Yacht Club, Beach Club, BoardWalk, and the Swan and Dolphin Hotels) can walk from their hotel to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT and board the Skyliner there. However, if people staying at those EPCOT area hotels are trying to get to Hollywood Studios, there’s also the option of taking a Friendship Boat or walking directly to the park, so the Skyliner might not be the fastest route. Skyliner Station at Disney Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort The Skyliner doesn’t travel to any of the other Disney World Resorts or Disney Springs, so you’ll need to find alternate transportation to get to those areas. If you’re trying to get around the property and running into issues, make sure to check out our transportation guide! The Skyliner So even though the Skyliner is a fan favorite, it does have its limits! We hope this information helps you get around Disney World efficiently! MORE change is coming to Disney World soon! Magic Kingdom We may still be feeling the raw emotions that come with bidding farewell to a classic attraction in Magic Kingdom, but Disney has announced even more changes will be coming to entertainment across the park. Just recently, we saw changes to the parade and cavalcade schedules. We hope you’re buckled in tight though because we’ve got quite the shake-up getting ready to happen and we’re telling you about ALL the changes! If you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom soon and think you already have your plans made out to the minute, this is your reminder that things can change here on a dime. The Dapper Dans We’ve noticed that the showtime for the nighttime fireworks spectacular, Happily Ever After, will be moving from its current 8PM performance time slightly back to start performing at 8:30PM nightly. This change will begin on March 10th, 2024. ©Disney That’s not the only entertainment schedule change, though! While we just saw the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade move up in showtimes to two almost back-to-back performances closer to mid-morning each day, we’ve got some more changes to announce for it. As of February 18th, this beloved cavalcade will once again move BACK to an evening start at 5:10PM daily and perform only ONCE a day (it’s been performing twice daily.) Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade Since January 16th, 2024, they’ve been presenting two morning cavalcades, giving us ample opportunity to see our friends strolling along. Starting soon, we’ll only have one opportunity to say “hi” to our favorite pals. ©Disney It appears change is on the horizon for Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire showtimes, too. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire The changes here will be a bit more subtle (changing by only about 5 to 10 minutes from their current performance times). Starting on February 18th, 2024, showtimes will be 10AM, 11:10AM, 12:50PM, 1:55PM, and 4PM. Make sure to check the My Disney Experience app in case those showtimes are different when you visit. ©Disney We’re even seeing changes to other entertainment options like The Dapper Dans (see the showtime changes below, which also begin on February 18th)… ©Disney …and the Casey’s Corner pianist performance times. The Casey’s Corner Pianist’s showtimes will change on February 18th, too, with the new showtimes listed below. ©Disney That’s a lot of change starting on February 18th! Casey’s Corner Pianist We’re always watching out for the latest changes and updates around Disney World so be sure to stay tuned with us for even more as they come! Are you going to Disney World this week? We’re here to help! ©Disney First, make sure you’ve checked the Disney World calendar because Magic Kingdom is closing early one day this week. You’ll also need to be working on your packing list, but in addition to the usual things we tell you to ALWAYS bring to Disney World, you’ll need to add one thing to that list: allergy medications. Yep, things are VERY sneezy right now in Disney World. The pollen count in Orlando, Florida is VERY high right now, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon. According to The Weather Channel, the 15-day allergen Forecast is moderate, but the Tree Pollen count is going to be high for the next few days. ACHOO! ©Disney Now, that tree pollen is EVERYWHERE right now. Here’s a recent photo taken at Magic Kingdom of the top of one of the trash cans. It has a nice layer of pollen ALL over it. It’s also been getting all over our reporters’ phones and making them sneeze. SO much pollen So we’re going to tell you now. Get some allergy medication and make sure to pack it in your bag if you’re visiting Disney World this week (granted, it’s probably always a good idea to keep allergy meds on hand when you visit Florida). If you do happen to forget to pack those pills, though, you should be able to find what you need in shops throughout Disney World. Warning, though: you’ll probably pay a LOT more for those allergy pills at Disney World than you will at your local drug store. Allergy relief inside a Disney World shop Also, what should you do if you get sick in Disney World? Well, if you’re in the parks, you can always visit a First Aid station — you’ll usually find the First Aid station near the park entrance. If you end up needing prescription medication, Disney has partnered with AdventHealth to offer wellness resources, including non-urgent virtual healthcare visits and prescription delivery to your resort or a pharmacy nearby. Learn more about Disney World’s wellness resources here! So pack those allergy meds, and know what to do if those allergies get the best of you in Disney World (but we hope they don’t!). There are few Disney World rides more iconic than Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom The attraction debuted in Magic Kingdom in 1973, and has since become a fan-favorite ride for many. After all, who doesn’t love getting blinded by a skeleton before you plummet to awaiting ships and cannon fire? OH, and the smell of the water and the roasted marshmallow scent of the burning scene? Anyway, if you love the attraction (or even the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) as much as we do, you’re going to want to listen up! Disney PhotoPass shared on Instagram a very important announcement for those who love Pirates and also think that pictures make the BEST souvenirs. If you visit the Disney PhotoPass studio in Disney Springs, you can partake in a Pirates–themed photoshoot. ©Disney You can rock it solo, or you can get the whole family involved! ©Disney These are super fun and a little bit silly, which is exactly how we like our PhotoPass photos to be. ©Disney We think that these photos would be especially cool if you and your crew Disneybounded as pirates. (If you don’t know what Disneybounding is, it’s where you dress in a character’s likeness in normal clothes. Adults can’t wear costumes in the park, so Disneybounding is the way to show your favorite characters some love!) ©Disney We really want to head to Disney Springs for a photoshoot now. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news and updates, so make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing. Looking for more about PhotoPass opportunities at Disney World? EPCOT might just be our favorite Disney World park for one reason: the food! EPCOT’s France Pavilion Okay, you have some AMAZING table service restaurants like Le Cellier and Garden Grill. Then there is all the food at the seasonal festivals (and we’re currently enjoying eats from the EPCOT Festival of the Arts). EPCOT also has some great counter service locations, although we’ve got one that’s our favorite. Well, two of our favorite things to get for lunch just got…cheaper? You don’t hear that very often in Disney World! Okay, so we know that sounds impossible because we’re always reporting on price increases, especially for food, in Disney World. Recently, though, the price of two of our GO-TO lunches in EPCOT just went down. Les Halles So where are these lunches? Well, they’re in EPCOT’s France Pavilion at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie. One of those lunch items is the Croissant Jambon Fromage, which is Ham, Cheese, and Béchamel in a Croissant. The price of this item recently DECREASED from $8.95 to $6.50. Y’all, that’s a lunch you can grab in Disney World for under $7 now! Croissant Jambon Fromage But wait…because ANOTHER of our favorite lunches is the Quiche Lorraine at Les Halles. It’s a quiche made with Ham and Gruyere. SO good. Well, that price also dropped from $7.95 to $6.50. Yep, so now that’s TWO Disney World lunches under $7. THANK YOU, DISNEY! Quiche Lorraine Pretty awesome, right? A few new items have been added to the menu here, too, including Patisserie a l’abricot for $4.95, which we WILL be trying out soon (so watch out for that review). We love this place! Anyway, sometimes prices do go DOWN in Disney World, and sometimes, it means we save a little money on lunch. We always keep an eye on menu changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Disney dining changes are a lot to keep up with! We’ve done all the research for you in writing our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining! At the beginning of 2024, Mickey Mouse became public domain — or rather, one version of Mickey Mouse did. Steamboat Willie at the Pixar Short Film Festival at EPCOT The classic, black-and-white Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse can now be used by ANYONE without permission from Disney, and it didn’t take long for horror movies, video games, and more to start using that version of Mickey for their own artistic licenses. However, the funniest use of public domain Mickey so far might be coming from John Oliver, the host of Last Week Tonight. Recently, John Oliver promoted the return of his show Last Week Tonight on February 8th with a photo of himself with someone in a Steamboat Willie Mickey costume with the headline “What are they gonna do, sue?” Previously, Oliver has tested the limits of what he could do with Mickey Mouse on his show, with Mickey saying some pretty vulgar things. According to Deadline, Mickey’s last appearance on the series was on December 17th. It’s likely that Oliver is now going to have a LOT of fun at Mickey’s expense. In fact, Oliver references Mickey’s last appearance on the series, saying, “Did Disney ever sue us over that?” Then, Mickey replies, “Nope,” with Oliver countering, “So, should we take that as a green light that we could do whatever we want in the future?” Then, MEAN Mickey replies, “I don’t see why the f*** not.” ©Last Week Tonight For those who are curious to see just WHAT Oliver has in store with Mickey, the show returns to MAX on February 18th, so mark those calendars. We’re sure it will be provocative (but also HILARIOUS). ©Disney Several other uses of public domain Willie are in progress, including a new merchandise collection from art collective MSCHF, a daily webcomic called Mousetrapped, SEVERAL horror movies, a video game, and more. We’re sure we’ll see more projects, though. Stay tuned to DFB for more news! When are you headed to Disney World next? Have you checked out our line of fun graphic tees to wear on your trip? A few days ago, we witnessed the end of an era in Disney World. The show is closed for now! The Country Bear Jamboree closed its doors, but before that, a LOT of people came by Magic Kingdom to bid them farewell. However, don’t worry — the Country Bears are just learning a brand-new act, so they can return this summer with new songs! If you still miss seeing Big Al, Shaker, Liver Lips McGrowl, and Wendell, though, we’re going to tell you where to see them in Magic Kingdom while their show is closed. We confirmed via the My Disney Experience app that four of the Country Bears will still be roaming around Frontierland to meet Disney World visitors. You can catch Big Al wandering Magic Kingdom throughout the day. Big Al For example, you may spot him around 1PM, 2PM, or 3:20PM. Note that those times may vary, so make sure to check My Disney Experience during your visit. ©Disney Shaker will be hanging around Frontierland throughout the day, too! ©Disney You may also spot Wendell greeting folks in Frontierland. He typically wanders the park at the same times as Shaker. ©Disney You may recognize his name from the iconic Wendell’s Bear Claw treat we used to LOVE! Wendell and the last Bear Claw we’ve ever eaten! Finally, Liver Lips McGrowl (who will be renamed Romeo McGrowl in the new show) can be seen at 1PM, 2PM, and 3:20PM. ©Disney We’ll be interested to see when (and if) his name — and existence in Magic Kingdom — changes before the new show debuts. He’s a goofball! Be sure to visit Frontierland the next time you’re in Magic Kingdom if you want to meet the Country Bears. We’re already keeping an eye on the closed attraction to see what has changed, so stay tuned to DFB for ALL the Country Bear updates (and other Disney news, too, of course). What do you think is the BEST perk to being a Disney World Annual Passholder (besides not paying for park tickets every time you plan a trip, of course)? Maybe it’s the 20% discount on merchandise? The discount on dining? It could be the exclusive hotel deals! However, lots of Passholders really LOVE the free souvenirs! Disney World Annual Pass A NEW and exclusive Annual Passholder souvenir is coming to Disney World VERY SOON! The best part? It’s totally FREE! Check out all the info so that you don’t miss the chance to get yours. Disney occasionally releases Annual Passholder-exclusive souvenirs in the form of magnets! These magnets usually have the Disney logo on them along with a classic character. We’ve seen magnets themed to Oswald, Figment, Dumbo, Minnie, Orange Bird, and more. Oswald and Figment Annual Passholder magnets The newest magnet — which comes out TOMORROW, January 29th! — will feature Hei Hei from Moana! Hei Hei is pictured front and center surrounded by the retro-fitted Disney “D.” The letter is colored in teal to highlight the colorful (yet kookie) bird. ©Disney The new Hei Hei magnet will be available at Creations Shop from January 29th through February 23rd. On these days, EPCOT will be open from 9AM to 9PM. Disney notes that the magnet will be available “while supplies last.” Creations Shop To get the magnet, head to Creations Shop in the World Celebration part of EPCOT. You’ll need to bring along a valid Annual Pass card, linked MagicBand, or MagicMobile pass along with a government-issued photo ID. Annual Pass Don’t forget that Annual Passholders still need Park Pass Reservations to get into the Disney World theme parks…usually. The exceptions to the rule are after 2PM (excluding Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays) and “Good-to-Go” days. Currently, Disney has a few “Good-to-Go” days marked on the calendar during this new magnet’s distribution, including January 31st, and February 1st, 4th, and 6th. Disney may add more “Good-to-Go” days soon! They’re added to the calendar on a rolling basis. ©Disney Unless one of those exceptions applies to your plans, make sure to snag that Park Pass so you can get your free souvenir! There’s a limit of one magnet per Passholder. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on all the latest Disney news! Click here to learn more about Disney World’s Annual Pass program. Who wants to hop on a plane with us and go to Paris? ©Disney Yep, we suddenly want to go to Disneyland Paris. First, we NEED to see a Disney park covered in SNOW because the photos from that event were PURE MAGIC. Of course, we also wouldn’t mind checking out the food there, too. However, what we REALLY want to do is book a stay at the reopened Disneyland Hotel, which recently got a ROYAL makeover. Now, we’re going to take you on a virtual tour of these princess-worthy rooms. The Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris is a five-star hotel that is completely inspired by Disney royalty. That royal experience starts the minute you step into the lobby, which is inspired by the libraries of famous French castles. There’s even a MASSIVE chandelier made of Bohemian crystal that represents Sleeping Beauty Castle. WHAAAT?! Look at that thing! ©Disney But the hotel’s new rooms are REALLY where you want to be. The 487 rooms and suites now have new interiors, decor, artwork, accents, and more, all inspired by Disney’s most beloved royal stories. If you have to have juuuuust the right pillow, each room offers SEVEN TYPES of pillows to choose from. WOW. A pillow menu — now that’s fancy! ©Disney The Superior Rooms offer a relaxing space done up in blues and silvers with exclusive artwork from Disney movies featuring royalty, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Frozen, Moana, and Raya and the Last Dragon. Each room features carefully chosen design elements to represent one of those films. ©Disney Deluxe Rooms go one step further and feature an illuminated canopy above the bed (SAY WHAT?!?!), as well as exclusive art “showcasing iconic moments from these Disney stories magically come to life with a special enchantment in the room.” Those staying in these rooms also get dedicated check-in and concierge services, as well as exclusive access to the Deluxe Lounge. Stay in one of 41 Castle Club Rooms and get even more exclusive benefits and “enhanced magic.” These rooms offer a hotel-within-a-hotel experience and are located on the top two floors of the hotel. Each room has a private elevator and dedicated check-in. Guests staying in these rooms also have access to the Castle Club Lounge, which includes breakfast with Disney princesses. ©Disney As part of the Castle Club, there are 16 Signature Suites, a Princely Suite, and a Royal Suite. This is pretty much the PINACCLE of luxury at the hotel. Imagineers worked tirelessly with Walt Disney Animation Studios and local craftspeople to create a themed room experience with deluxe products and amenities like walk-in closets and spa bathtubs. Each suite has its own royal theme. There are Sleeping Beauty Signature Suites… ©Disney …Cinderella Signature Suites… ©Disney …Frozen Signature Suites… ©Disney …Rapunzel Signature Suites… ©Disney …and Beauty and the Beast Signature Suites. ©Disney You’ll also find a Princely Suite with “lavish baroque decor.” ©Disney When they say lavish, they are NOT kidding! ©Disney There’s even a Royal Frozen Suite inspired by Elsa’s ice castle. Just WOW. ©Disney Oh, and did we mention there’s an ice chandelier? This room is EXTRA, and we are here for it. ©Disney So, if you’re headed to Disneyland Paris, you may want to consider booking a stay at the most ROYAL Disney hotel ever created! Of course, it will also cost you royal prices. A stay here starts at around $1,450 per night for a superior room and runs up to around $3,700 per night for a signature suite. Okay, so some things at Disney World are always just TOO cute for words. Animal Kingdom Disney characters ALWAYS make us smile. Cast Members are SO fun and sweet. Disney ducks can literally make our day. But we absolutely LOVE it when Disney announces baby animals being born. Recently, Disney’s Animal Kingdom just got a few newborns, and yes, we are OBSESSED. Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment, just shared the news that three new baby Cotton-Top Tamarins have been born in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Tamarins are among the smallest of primates and are generally found in the tropical forests in northwestern Colombia. They’re known for their WILD hairdos. They’re also SO cute. ©Disney These monkeys are a critically endangered species, so it’s a big deal when more are born — these monkeys are now among the rarest primates in the world. So let’s just say that these newborns give us a big cause to celebrate. ©Disney Right now, the triplets are busy bonding with their parents and siblings. According to Dr. Penning, both the mom and dad share baby care responsibilities and will carry the young ones on their backs until they are about 14 weeks of age. AWWW! ©Disney These babies will eventually grow to about 1 pound (we told you they were tiny), but they will still be able to leap 15 feet from a stationary branch! ©Disney If you’re visiting Animal Kingdom, you might just see this beautiful family doing its thing. So be sure to take time to appreciate them. You’ll find them on Discovery Island in the park. Stay tuned to DFB for more. When are you headed to Disney World next? Why do we talk about McDonald’s so much, you may ask? McDonald’s Well, McDonald’s and Disney have a long history together; there’s literally a McDonald’s on Disney World property, plus we often see Disney-themed Happy Meal toys. If you’re a big fan of the fast food restaurant like we are, you’ll never believe the text message we were just sent. When we heard our phone ding, the last thing we expected was a McDonald’s text telling us that the Hamburglar is on the loose! He was last seen riding away with McDonald’s best burgers in a car with the license plate RBL RBL. Be on the lookout! Uh…hi? The text asks you to text back the city you’re located in, and McDonald’s will tell you if he’s nearby. You could potentially win a prize pack or free burgers for a YEAR! We want free burgers for a year! So far, we haven’t heard anything else, so the Hamburglar must still be driving around on the loose. You can bet we’ll be keeping a close eye on our phones, though! McDonald’s always cheers us up! Speaking of McDonald’s, did you know that a GIGANTIC new Double Big Mac Burger is HERE? Of course, we had to go and try it for ourselves, and we had THOUGHTS. Let’s face it, with the amount of restaurants available to you at Disney World, choosing which ones to go to can be super overwhelming. But don’t worry — we’re here to help! Main Street U.S.A. Disney World is home to some fantastic dining options and we’ve got you covered with which ones are worth your time (and which aren’t)! If you’re looking for the BEST restaurant to visit in 2024, we know just the place (and a few others) — Let’s check it out! When it comes to picking the cream of the crop, we really don’t think you can go wrong with Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine at Disney Springs in 2024! Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Celebrity Chef Art Smith is a Florida native who actually participated in the Disney World College Program as a culinary intern and a Florida State University alum — so it only makes sense that his Homecomin’ restaurant celebrates Southern and Floridian cuisine as well as “farm-to-fork” food. Fried Chicken & Doughnuts Serving the best comfort food in Disney World, you’ll find thigh-high High Chicken Biscuits, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, and more at this restaurant. The menu is also FANTASTIC and even the pickiest of eaters should find something they like. We recommend getting reservations ASAP, however, as Homecomin’ is super popular. Thigh High Chicken Biscuits at Homecomin’ If Southern comfort food isn’t quite your thing, we have some other recommendations as well! Patriotic Eaters A full Thanksgiving spread at Liberty Tree Tavern Want to dig into those colonial roots? Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom serves a prix fixe style Thanksgiving meal in a restaurant themed after a late-18th-century home. The meal is served family-style in rooms themed after the Revolutionary period and comes with all-you-can-eat roasted turkey, pot roast, oven-roasted pork, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, seasonal veggies, and herb stuffing. A signature Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake also comes with the meal and it is absolutely DELICIOUS! Looking For Adventure Satu’li Canteen If you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to make your way over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Satu’li Canteen! Found in Pandora — The World of Avatar, this quick service spot is one of the BEST in all of Disney World and offers a truly unique menu. The Satu’li Canteen serves AMAZING steamed Pods (a bao bun twist on a burger) and a variety of customizable bowls. We are particularly fond of the shrimp bowl. Be sure to try one of the colorful drinks when you visit! Feeling Tropical Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto in Disney World Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is more than just a tropical-themed bar. It’s filled with all kinds of interactive elements and special effects that are synced to what you order as well as Cast Member antics. Filled head to toe with neat details, this lounge has some great tropical drinks, often in collectible cups. Food-wise, you can find solid snacks here such as flatbread and tacos. Keep in mind this bar becomes 21+ after 8PM. The star here really is the atmosphere though, so bring some friends or family members, grab a spot (a virtual queue is often used because this spot can be very busy!), and enjoy. Just keep in mind that until 8PM, this restaurant is available to the whole family. Only 21 and over are allowed to visit after that. For the Princess in Your Family Dining Room at Cinderella’s Royal Table If you’re looking for quintessential character dining with true Disney theming, check out Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom in 2024! This dining experience is INSANELY popular and is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its prix fixe menus generally include dishes such as steamed mussels, beef tenderloin, and pasta. If you have a Disney Princess fan in the family (that includes you) and want to eat inside Cinderella’s Castle in a truly unique experience, visiting Cinderella’s Royal Table should be on your 2024 bucket list! Theme Fanatics Be Our Guest Speaking of great theming, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom! Have you ever wanted to step into the world of Beauty and the Beast and eat inside the Beast’s castle? You’re in luck! You can dine in three different rooms — The Grand Ballroom, The West Wing, and The Rose Gallery. As for the menu, it’s another prix fixe that includes French cuisine such as French onion soup, escargot, grilled filet mignon, and more! You may even see an appearance from the Beast and Belle! And be sure to try the “grey stuff”! Sweet Tooth Cake Bake Shop Construction The Cake Bake Shop at Disney World’s Boardwalk isn’t opened yet but is slated to open early this year. Owned by Gwendolyn Rogers, this The Cake Bake Shop will include both a table service restaurant and a bakery portion. The restaurant will offer brunch, lunch, and dinner with sweet and savory menus, as well as an afternoon tea experience. The bakery portion will act as more of a quick-service option with tons of baked goodies. Items you can expect to perhaps pop up on the menu include truffle pommes frites, quiche, sandwiches, cakes (of course), pies, cheesecake, and more! There you have it! We definitely recommend visiting AT LEAST one of these restaurants this year and give us your review! We’re Disney adults! Of course our favorite days of the year are when Disney holds earnings calls! Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times Yep, the fiscal earnings calls held by The Walt Disney Company happen four times each year, and they’re where we can hear some BIG updates and important information. The very first quarterly earnings call for 2024 will take place on February 7th at 4:30PM EST. We’re just a little over a month into the new year in early February, so what can we expect to learn from Disney during the call? Let’s talk about it! Even though we’re only a month into the new year, Disney typically provides a lot of information based on the last couple of months of the previous year and how those numbers are carrying into the new year. ©Disney During the final earnings call of 2023, we learned a lot of great information on what the 2024 focuses would be. There were four main opportunities that Disney highlighted at the time: profit from streaming, make ESPN+ the preeminent sports streaming platform, up revenue in the parks and within the Experiences sector, and improve economics and output in the film studios. ©Disney Based on these building opportunities, here are two things that we’re expecting Disney to touch on. 1.Theme Park Earnings and Attendance One of Iger’s main priorities this year is to up theme park attendance and revenue. In February, Disney will likely share important updates as far as revenue generated from theme park attendance since November, as well as any other important attendance/revenue updates as far as Experiences go. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle This could be Disney Cruise Line, Experiences by Disney, and, of course, any of the parks. 2. Streaming Updates Bob Iger shared in 2023 that restructuring the Walt Disney Company to focus on the future of streaming was his number one priority. In December, Disney+ launched the beta version of a bundle with Hulu, so in February, we can expect some updates on how that is going as well as when Disney can expect to make a substantial profit from Disney+. Disney+ Hulu bundle Disney said that they should make profit from the streaming platform again (for the first time since before the pandemic) before the fourth quarter of 2024. But recently, we spotted a souvenir that seemed pretty obscure, and you definitely need to know about it — especially if you own one of those cute little Star Wars droids. Over at Galaxy’s Edge, we were walking through the shops when we noticed several droid heads sitting on the shelf. Yep, those are loose droid heads Yep, droid heads of all different shapes and sizes. Did you know that you can purchase a replacement head for the droid you built at the Droid Depot? The heads are $15. No Droid Depot visit required! WARNING: Magic Kingdom Is Closing EARLY Tomorrow
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
If you’re headed to Disney World soon, you’ve probably been busy with a lot of planning, getting your packing list ready, and counting down the days. Magic Kingdom You’ve probably also had to get reacquainted with the Disney Dining Plan if you purchased that, as well as staying updated on recent changes to the park pass reservations requirement and park hopping. So, you might not have had a chance to check the Disney World calendar yet. That’s why we’ve checked it for you to warn you about how Magic Kingdom is closing early soon. On Monday, January 29th, Magic Kingdom is closing EXTRA early. If you look at the Disney World calendar, you’ll notice that the park is scheduled to close at 4:30PM. That means if you have plans to spend all day in the park, you won’t be able to. It also means you’ll miss out on the Happily Ever After fireworks that night. Now, if you have the Park Hopping option added to your ticket, you can go to Magic Kingdom that morning and then hop on over to another park before Magic Kingdom closes. ©Disney This is another example of why it’s SO important to check the Disney World calendar on the Disney World website or My Disney Experience app before your visit so you’re not caught off guard by these early closures. They don’t happen often, but they do happen from time to time, usually for a private event or something else that’s been scheduled in the park that evening. Magic Kingdom Speaking of Magic Kingdom closures, did you know that the Country Bear Jamboree is officially CLOSED for an extended refurbishment? You can read more about that closure HERE. The show is closed for now! Of course, we try to keep an eye on all the closures and refurbishments, too, so we’ll let you know when we spot more early closures at the resort. So stay tuned to DFB for more. 5 Random Things You Pack That’ll Earn You an EXTRA Security Search in Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! Meilin Lee and Ming Lee We’ve been celebrating the occasion over at Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Festival. We enjoyed a ton of wonderful foods and even met some NEW Disney characters for the very first time. We also love to see how the parks are decorated for the festival, but this year, one hotel at Disneyland Resort has gone ALL out for the Lunar New Year — and we are OBSESSED. If you’ve ever visited Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, you might already know this hotel is BEAUTIFUL. But when we recently visited, we saw it had been decorated for the Lunar New Year. The first thing you’ll want to do when visiting this hotel’s lobby is to look up because a GIANT dragon kite is hanging from the ceiling –it spans 80 feet long! A dragon! According to Disney, the dragon kite features a custom design inspired by blossoms to symbolize the rebirth of spring. Dragons are very important this year (yes, even Mushu) because this year is the Year of the Dragon. We think this dragon is pretty amazing! There was also a smaller Lunar New Year display in the hotel lobby. Doll display Each doll has a description explaining her outfit and why she’s wearing it. Learn more about Lunar New Year outfits. You’ll also find a gorgeous new backdrop in the lobby. Did someone say PHOTO OP? So pretty Be sure to take time to read all the details about the Chinese New Year, including how various cultures celebrate the holiday. It’s quite fascinating. See? Disney can be fun AND educational (but we already knew that, right? ). Learn how various cultures celebrate The Grand Californian is also hosting some entertainment for the festival, so keep an eye on the schedule for a list of performances. Oh, and you can also enjoy some themed treats at the Great Hall Cart in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Look out for a Moon Dragon cocktail, available at GCH Craftsman Bar. Be sure to stop by if you have a chance to enjoy these pretty decorations and any entertainment going on. The Lunar New Year Festival runs through February 18th. Stay tuned to DFB for more!
