Every day is a great day to try a NEW Disney World snack, but some days are better than most! Magic Kingdom train station Why is that, you ask? Well, because Disney loves to keep us on our toes by bringing limited-time treats into the mix. Right now, we’re in the midst of Celebrate Soulfully — a month-long celebration of Black culture and history that brings unique entertainment and delicious dishes to the parks. And now, it’s time to try another treat! Come with us to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom, where we’re trying the new Butter Pecan Praline Sundae! For $8.79, you get butter pecan ice cream topped with praline sauce, spiced pecans, and whipped cream. Sounds like a dream! Butter Pecan Praline Sundae Butter pecan lovers, this one’s for you! The butter pecan ice cream is decadent and creamy with the pecans being softer where they’ve been in the ice cream against the crunchy candied pralines that top the whipped cream. The added caramel drizzle was just the right pairing to make this one a winning combination. It’s a good combination of textures with creamy ice cream and a bit of a crunch from the pecans and pralines. Butter Pecan Praline Sundae If you don’t like butter pecan ice cream, or nuts for candied praline toppings — that’s pretty much all that’s in this one so you might want to skip. Butter pecan lovers and people who like ice cream with not too many toppings will probably love this! It’s certainly on the sweet side, but let’s be real — this is ice cream, did you expect anything different?! Twas delicious We’ll be trying a ton of different treats during Celebrate Soulfully, so stay tuned to DFB as we bring you even more snack reviews from all the limited-time eats in Disney World! It’s no secret that Disney CEO Bob Iger has shifted his focus to streaming. ©Disney Throughout 2023, Iger referred to streaming (and the restructuring within the company to focus on streaming) as his number one priority. He believes that the answer to returning to the top of the pyramid of media giants lies within Disney+, ESPN+, and direct-to-consumer marketing within those platforms. It seems that investor Nelson Peltz seems to somewhat agree. If you’re unfamiliar with Nelson Peltz, he’s the leader of the activist investment firm, Trian. Trian invests in companies that they think can be more efficient and successful, and Peltz has shown quite a bit of interest in Disney. He’s even tried to grab a seat on Disney’s Board of Directors. ©New York Times Nelson Peltz of Trian Partners Peltz has recently shared his thoughts on how Iger should go about profiting from streaming, and making ESPN+ the preeminent sports streaming platform, which is one of Iger’s four stated building opportunities for 2024. According to Bloomberg, Peltz thinks that Disney should bundle ESPN+ with Netflix. ©ESPN According to anonymous people familiar with the situation, Peltz’s Trian group will soon publish a “white paper” detailing its investment thesis and financial recommendations for Disney after the Company’s first earnings call of 2024 — which will take place on February 7th. Peltz plans to share the recommendation with Disney then to bundle ESPN+ with Netflix. ©Netflix Disney already has ESPN+ bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for a discounted cost, but Iger has shared that he’s interested in selling a stake in ESPN+ to a company that can help “broadly distribute a new direct-to-consumer version of the company’s main sports channel.” Peltz thinks this could be Netflix. This recommendation comes after Disney’s streaming services lost $2.5 billion in fiscal 2023, and Iger has deemed the ambitious task of profiting on streaming before Q4 of 2024 totally possible. ©Disney According to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources, Trian will also argue that Disneys’ financial forecast to spend $60 billion on theme parks over the next decade are too “opaque,” management structure should be simplified to eliminate redundancy, and that Wall Street needs more details on Iger’s recent cost cuts. ©MasterClass We’re interested to tune in to the Q1 earnings call on February 7th as well as Peltz’s white paper report. We’ll be sure to keep you all updated with more Disney news, so make sure to tune in so that you never miss a thing. Looking for more on Nelson Peltz and Disney? Click here! Bet you didn’t realize that February is the PRIME TIME for new Disney World snacks?! Magic Kingdom Between Valentine’s Day and Black History Month, Disney is really rolling out the red carpet for the new treats, and we’ve been running all around property to try them out. There are quite a few things on our buy list, but you’ll need to head to a Disney hotel for the most adorable of the bunch! Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is now home to the Love Bug Marshmallow for $6.59. Isn’t she precious?! Isn’t it cute?! It’s made with strawberry marshmallow, a ganache center, and a graham cracker cookie. The decorations make the treat look like a little ladybug on a leaf. But does it taste as fun as it looks? Such a creative little treat! The marshmallow itself has a nice strawberry flavor, and it’s rather fluffy texture-wise. The chocolate coating doesn’t have much distinct flavor, but it helps hold the marshmallow in and provides a hard surface for the exterior decor. The little ladybug dots are hearts! The graham cracker cookie was soft, sweet, and fairly basic, but the ganache is where this treat shines a little bit. It was rich and chocolatey without overpowering the strawberry of the marshmallow. Overall, it’s a really sweet dessert, but that’s to be expected with a marshmallow-based treat. Inside the mallow Your little ones and sugar fanatics might really love this, but if you’re not a fan of marshmallow, chocolate, or strawberry, you’ll want to stay away. Honestly, we fell in love simply for the decoration and charm — we even named our ladybug! (Say hello to Rupert, everyone! ) We’ll keep hopping around Disney World to try more new snacks, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest. We’ll keep you in the loop! The past several years have been challenging for Disney. Not only did Bob Chapek get replaced as CEO of the company by Bob Iger, who’d held the job previously, but once Iger stepped back into the role, he started to make a LOT of changes in the company. ©Disney Some of these changes involved layoffs within The Walt Disney Company, while other changes involved raising prices and bringing more changes to the streaming services, which Iger has said is his top priority. Then there’s the ongoing feud with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis that has resulted in several lawsuits (with one that was recently dismissed by a federal judge). Perhaps as a result of all this, Disney’s reputation had recently taken a big hit. Fortune recently released its annual World’s Most Admired Companies, which takes a look at companies’ reputations and how they are viewed by the general public. Apple came out on top, with Microsoft and Amazon following. However, Disney’s reputation has fallen down to Number twelve on the list from where it was last year at Number six. ©Disney On this particular list, Disney was also replaced by Netflix as the most admired entertainment company, although the top-ranked list by industry still ranks Disney higher. But still…ouch, being that Netflix is one of Disney’s top streaming rivals. Iger will have to continue to work on that #1 priority. ©Netflix So what does a list like this tell us? Well, it tells us that the public perception of Disney has fallen over the last year. In 2023 alone, Disney saw many of its biggest movies struggle at the box office, resulting in Iger making comments about the company releasing “too many sequels,” although one of Disney’s sequel films that was released in 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy: Chapter 3, actually did well at the box office. However, Disney’s original animated feature Wish wasn’t as successful. ©Disney Whatever the case, Iger only has a few years to improve the public’s perception of The Walt Disney Company before he steps down (again) in 2026. We’ll also be looking forward to seeing how the Disney Company is doing financially during its next quarterly earnings call on February 7th, which could also reveal some of Iger’s plans for the company before he leaves. Sometimes, you’re just looking for a solid food option at Disney World without a lot of fuss, and we can relate. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort We’ve checked out the updated menus at several of the Disney World hotel lounges and even had decent meals at hotel pool bars and none of them had quite the options that this restaurant does. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is known for some fancy dining options, but how do their quick-service food options measure up in comparison. Let’s find out! Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is home to some pretty stellar dining options. Most of the restaurants you’ll find here are table service. Ale & Compass Restaurant and Yachtsman’s Steakhouse are both like this with Crew’s Cup Lounge and the Ale & Compass Lounge being the lounge options to pop into for a spirited drink and light appetizers. The Market at Ale & Compass If you’re not looking for a bar-type atmosphere or sitting down to a lengthy (and pricey menu), the option you’ll have at this hotel for quick service food is The Market at Ale & Compass. It had been some time since our last visit here, so we decided to pop in while visiting the hotel for a quick bite (and to see what all there was to enjoy on the menu)! Atmosphere This restaurant may take you by surprise at first. To find it, you’ll need to be looking for it. It’s kind of tucked away from the main lobby and concierge down the hall. The Market at Ale & Compass As you step inside, you’ll find that it’s a very open-concept restaurant that shares real estate with the adjoining gift shop for the hotel. A look inside You’re immediately greeted by an open kitchen counter with registers to place your order… Here’s where your hot food is prepared … and just off to the side, you’ll find a small dining area. Here you’ll find both small tables… Tables in the dining area … and booth seating for small and large groups to dine inside. The whole dining room Since this is a quick service restaurant, most of their food can be taken “to-go” and it seems that the majority of folks prefer to do so since we didn’t find it very full. Conveniences to use There are also a few condiments and utensil stations around that can be picked up at your own choosing. Self serve! While they prepare hot meals here, that’s not all this restaurant offers. Since it’s a quick-service restaurant, it also provides grab-and-go snack food options like bakery items, pastries, chips, and treats… Snacks! … refillable beverage stations for sodas along with coffee and tea… Soda machines … and refrigerated items that can be purchased for rooms that include a full-size kitchen to prepare meals, like the Disney Vacation Club rooms. While all of these options are a great idea to have in one place, we were looking for fresh food, so we stepped up to the registers at the open counter to review the menu board above them. Menu The food options here are unique. The menu consists of mostly hot and cold sandwiches… ©Disney … salads… ©Disney … a few kid’s meal options… ©Disney … desserts, fresh fruits… ©Disney … bakery items… ©Disney … snacks… ©Disney … a wide array of beverages… ©Disney … that really could fit any taste… ©Disney … specialty coffee… ©Disney … alcoholic beverages, beers… ©Disney … even more beer... ©Disney … and wines by the bottle… ©Disney … or glass. ©Disney They also offer allergy-friendly menu options available upon request. We decided to opt to mobile order our meal through the My Disney Experience app, placed our order, and waited for it to be prepared. Eats If you’ve been waiting in suspense to find out just what exactly we ordered, we’re hoping we make it worth your while. To keep things simple, we decided to order our entire meal at once, and everything was prepared in individual wrappers or containers. We opted for the Grilled Chicken Panini, Cuban Sandwich, and Caramel Cheesecake for dessert. Our full meal It certainly looked a bit intimidating to tackle all together so let’s break this down by each item! We started our meal off with the Grilled Chicken Panini. This panini sandwich is made of basil pesto, fresh mozzarella, and oven-roasted tomatoes on Ciabatta served with house-made chips and costs us $11.49. Grilled Chicken Panini This sandwich was served warm, and the first bite was super flavorful. You could taste the herbs in the zesty pesto against the juicy chicken, and the mozzarella gave it a chewier bite. The tomatoes were juicy and would burst when you bit into them, but added an interesting flavor dimension when paired up with the pesto. So good! We thought this sandwich was delicious! The cheese gets a bit thick as it sits though, so it’s best eaten warm. All the cheese! The house-made chips are a side we have had many times before at Disney World hotels (they seem to be a popular option) and come standard with the sandwich. House-made chips And these chips were no different than we’d tasted before and reminded us of a barbecued kettle chip. Then it was time to turn our attention to the Cuban Sandwich. This is made of ham, slow-roasted pork, swiss cheese, pickles, mayonnaise, and mustard all on a hoagie roll. It’s also served with a side of house-made chips and cost us $12.29. Cuban Sandwich The first thing we thought when we bit into this one was, “Wow this thing is tangy!” The pickles and juices were very prominent and snapped when you bit into them. The ham is a bit salty, but in a good way, and the grilled hoagie along with the melty cheese brings it all together. Lots of flavor The meat was tender, sliced thin, and easy to cut through. While the hoagie had the charring in the bread from the press, it was still soft and served warm. Also, it’s at its prime if enjoyed when it’s warm and fresh rather than trying to eat with the same expectation in flavor after it’s had time to cool down. We were hoping we had saved the best for last! The Caramel Cheesecake was made of vanilla cheesecake with caramel sauce, chocolate stripes, whipped cream, and a chocolate Mickey face and cost us $5.79. Caramel Cheesecake This dessert was decadent! It was thicker to cut into even after it had sat for a while. The caramel sauce is subtle, but so good, against the crumble of the graham crust in the cheesecake. Inside of the cheesecake It reminded us of a New York-style cheesecake more than most Disney cheesecakes. The caramel sauce and chocolate drizzle pair nicely together for extra sweetness, and Mickey’s face is a nice chocolate touch. Best Disney cheesecake We’re confident that we made a solid choice to wrap up our meal here with this treat! Overall Overall, we thought this turned out to be a great grab-and-go restaurant, but you’ll need to make sure that’s what you intend to do with it. Order up! We were pleased with how our food was presented, packaged for easy transportation, and even tasted after it had time to cool off and settle. Nosh or Not? We’d recommend stopping by this restaurant if… You’re looking for light and somewhat healthier options for Disney food. This food is going to be enough to fill you up for the time being, but you’ll probably be ready for another meal after a few hours have passed. You’re not keen on spending a ton of time in a dining room. If you’re concerned that taking time out of your day to eat in a more formal dining room will slow you down, this could be a great compromise. You’ve also really got to be in the mood to enjoy sandwiches. That’s really the majority of their meal options here. You’ll probably do better dining elsewhere if… You’re looking for a sit-down, but a quick meal. These menu items aren’t going to be super filling and will be more for folks who won’t mind taking something back to their hotel room to enjoy or bringing it along with them as they’re headed into the parks. You need a heartier meal. If your idea of a meal is a select protein with a few sides, this certainly isn’t the greatest option for you to select. You want more variety in your dining options. Even if you’re willing to look past limited choices for side items, there’s just not a huge variety of entree options here so you’ll want to keep that in mind when deciding where is best to eat for you. Where are the Percy Jackson fans?! ©Disney The first season of this Disney+ show was a big hit, and fans have been wondering when a second season might be announced. So far, Disney hasn’t mentioned anything about the possibility of another season being greenlit, but we do have a pretty big hint that it could be on the way! Heads up, Percy Jackson fans! In an interview with Variety, showrunners Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz shared a little bit about the series and dropped a hint about the potential for a second season. ©Disney While it hasn’t officially been greenlit just yet, the studio has “opened up a writers’ room,” and writers are “making great progress.” “There is an awareness on everyone’s part that the demand for the show seems to suggest we should probably not stop making it,” shared Steinberg. ©Disney He’s not wrong, either — viewership of the series increased by 22% during its first full week of streaming, viewers watched over 700 million minutes of the show. That makes Percy Jackson and the Olympians the third most-watched original show, after The Crown and Reacher. Though we don’t have many more details, it’s a good sign that the writers are back in action working on a second season — we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s picked up. Okay, is it just us or did January feel like the LONGEST MONTH EVER? Well, February is FINALLY here (imagine us as the old lady in Titanic saying “it’s been 84 years.”). Main Street Bakery You know what that means? It means a TON of new snacks and treats have arrived in Disney World for Disney’s Celebrate Soulfully, which is how Disney celebrates Black History Month. Okay, so it also means that we are running ALL over Disney World trying out all this new food, so we can get you good, honest reviews. Well, now we’re headed to Magic Kingdom to try a princess-inspired dessert, and spoiler alert: we want to “Dig a Little Deeper” into this snack. So head on over to Main Street Bakery with us as we pick up Tiana’s Petit Cake for $9.99. This is a Vanilla chiffon cake with lemon Chantilly, and fresh strawberries topped with a fondant flower and a Tiana chocolate piece. First, this is the PRETTIEST cake, right? The fondant magnolia flower and Tiana chocolate piece just make it stand out even more. Let’s just say this cake is more than “Almost there.” It is THERE, Tiana! Tiana’s Petit Cake We’re happy to report that this cake tastes as good as it looks. The lemon Chantilly is very light against the vanilla chiffon cake and elevates the vanilla flavor (that we usually just find okay) to something a bit MORE. That Chantilly is also in layers with big chunks of fresh strawberries throughout the cake. This is a situation where everything just works. Strawberry CHUNKS Also, this cake is a great use of a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan, so if you’ll be visiting Disney World soon with the Dining Plan, this is one snack you should keep in mind. It’s also bigger than a normal cake slice, so it’s shareable! How about a bite? This cake is only going to be around until March 1st, so you’ll need to grab it before then if you’d like to try it for yourself. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! If you thought you’d heard the end of Disney’s federal lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, you would be wrong. Cinderella Castle A while back, Disney made statements against Florida’s Rights in Education law (called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by critics). Shortly after, DeSantis and Florida legislators dissolved Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District — replacing it with a new, DeSantis-appointed board that has made controversial changes to the District. A federal judge recently dismissed the case, but now, Disney has appealed. The Walt Disney Company has appealed a federal judge’s decision to dismiss the lawsuit against Governor DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, according to the Tampa Bay Times. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters The notice of appeal was filed on February 1st, just one day after the judge’s decision came down. US District Court Judge Allen Winsor said that Disney’s free-speech suit against DeSantis “lacked merit and standing.” He continued that while Disney did appear to be harmed by the changes, it could not prove the harm “was a direct result of any actions by the state or governor.” ©Governor Ron DeSantis Website In response, Disney shared a statement indicating they might appeal, and now they officially have. “This is an important case with serious implications for the rule of law, and it will not end here. If left unchallenged, this would set a dangerous precedent and give license to states to weaponize their official powers to punish the expression of political viewpoints they disagree with. We are determined to press forward with our case.” Disney vs. DeSantis At a news conference in Tallahassee, Florida’s state capital, DeSantis stated he was “shocked” that Disney planned to appeal the judge’s ruling and said: “We knew that the Legislature had authority to do it, I had the authority to sign the legislation as we did, and I would like to see an accounting from some of the people who last year were trying to say that somehow Disney had outmaneuvered Florida, or that somehow they were in the right on all this. You heard a lot of squawking when they were able to use it to try to attack Florida or try to attack me. I don’t hear very much now that the case was summarily dismissed. I mean, they don’t have a case.” ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream As of now, Disney has not made any further comments about the appeal. Beignets are a great option whether you get them inside or outside of the Disney Parks and hotels. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom We find it hard to resist the fluffy, sugary pastries, whether they’re shaped like Mickey or not! Now that it’s February, Disney World is now celebrating Black History Month with Celebrate Soulfully — a month-long celebration of Black culture and history that brings unique entertainment and delicious dishes to the parks. When Disney announced that BEIGNETS would be among this year’s food lineup in Magic Kingdom for Celebrate Soulfully, we knew where we’d be on February 1st. At Golden Oak Outpost in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, you can get Tiana’s Famous Beignets from now until March 1st. They’re $6.99, and are croissant-style beignets, served with a dusting of powdered sugar and a side of strawberry sauce. Tiana’s Famous Beignets These bad boys look absolutely delicious. We’re also very intrigued by the strawberry sauce. Some pairings just make sense in our minds — and this is one of them. Will they live up to the dreams we’ve been having about them? Let’s find out. They. Look. AWESOME. When we took a bite, the flavor and texture was reminiscent of a lightly-sweetened croissant, not a traditional beignet. However, this is NOT a bad thing! The sauce actually reminds us a LOT of the Strawberry Soup that you used to be able to grab at 1900 Park Fare. IT’S JUST LIKE STRAWBERRY SOUP We’d honestly say that these beignets are worth it just for the sauce. The beignets are good on their own, but when dipped, they’re a GAME CHANGER. We’d recommend this to anyone who loves and misses Strawberry Soup as much as we do, or who loves beignets but doesn’t necessarily get offended if it’s not a traditional beignet. YUM On the other hand, if you strongly prefer traditional beignets, you might not like the texture of these. They are truly more of a croissant beignet, and that’s just not everyone’s cup of tea. With the sauce As far as value goes, we felt that we got quite a bit of food for the near $7 we spent. We’d totally go back and get them again before the month is over, and we recommend that you head to Golden Oak Outpost to get them too — while you still can! We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along for more so that you never miss a thing. Looking for more snacks we’ve tried at Disney World recently? If streaming services are starting to feel exactly like cable used to back in the day to you, you’re not alone. Disney+ Hulu bundle Between formerly ad-free services becoming full of ads and efforts to put an end to password sharing, it’s becoming increasingly complicated to be a consumer of the latest and greatest content (champagne problems, am I right?). And, if you’re a Hulu subscriber, we’ve got an update you might want to know about. Hulu will begin cracking down on password sharing, The Hollywood Reporter has shared. Disney+ began a similar initiative back in October 2023, and it appears as though Hulu is following suit. ©Hulu An email was sent to Hulu (which is owned by Disney) subscribers on January 31st, warning them of an updated subscriber agreement that bars sharing accounts outside of the user’s household. “Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household,” the change to the agreement stated. “‘Household’ means the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein,” the email stated. ©Disney The new terms will become effective on March 14th, and Hulu has warned users that they can “limit or terminate access to the Service and/or take any other steps as permitted” if they find that a subscriber has violated the agreement. Hulu sign in Disney’s Hollywood Studios News that an effort to curb password sharing came during Disney’s November 2023 earnings call, when Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Disney and Hulu would be “implementing stronger standards around account sharing.” Stay tuned to DFB for the latest streaming news including all things Hulu, Disney+, and more. 5 Big Changes Bob Iger Has To Make in 2024 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! SNACKS! SNACKS! SNACKS! (Chant it with me!) Spaceship Earth in EPCOT Essentially, that’s us, making our way through Disney World on the regular. We’re always on the lookout for new treats to try, and with February kicking off both Valentine’s Day and Black History Month celebrations, we’ve got several snacks to try. But one of the treats is a returning favorite! Over at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT, the Banana Pudding is back! It’s available from February 1st-March 31st, and it’s a great option for when you’re craving something sweet. Banana Pudding The banana pudding has been available at Regal Eagle on and off for a while now, and every once in a while, Disney gives it a little Tiana-inspired makeover with some decor on top. We saw the white chocolate decor added last year for both World Princess Week and Black History Month. Find it at Regal Eagle We’ve loved the pudding in the past — the flavors were nice and strong without being overwhelming, and the bananas inside seemed very fresh. The whipped cream on top was light and fluffy and complemented the heavier pudding very well. You definitely have to be on the banana bandwagon if you want to enjoy it, but if you are…don’t miss out! A little scoop from last year’s pudding Right now, the banana pudding is listed on Mobile Order for $5.99. Make sure to grab one during your next visit! ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more snack reviews and updates as we check out all the new treats this February! Back in 2023, Disney announced that the Cabins at Fort Wilderness would be getting a makeover! Fort Wilderness Imagineers are redesigning these spaces to become the Disney Vacation Club Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort. So far we’ve had a look at the concept art for the new cabins, and we learned just when they would open. If you’re a Disney Vacation Club member looking to make the Cabins at Fort Wilderness your home resort, we have excellent news to share! Disney Vacation Club sales for The Cabins are officially open as of February 1st, 2024 for existing members! ©Disney You can add on The Cabins by contacting your DVC Guide or by contacting Member Sales at (800)-800-9800. DVC members who have added on points at The Cabins can begin to book sales online on February 15th, 2024. The general public will have access to the sales on February 27th, and new DVC members whose home resort is The Cabins can begin booking online or with Member Services on March 12th. After April 23rd, all members can begin booking stays! ©Disney The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are set to open on July 1st, 2024, and will sleep up to six adults and feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. A select number of cabins will also be dog-friendly. The updated floor plan shows a single bedroom off to the left and a bathroom off to the right. In the center, guests have a kitchen, dining area, and sofa that folds down into a bed. If you’ve ever heard of a “shipping container home,” these designs feel very similar to those homes. ©Disney The proposal for this makeover calls for more than 350 refreshed cabins to replace the current structures at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Disney stated that these new cabins will be “inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.” The original concept art that we saw back in April featured the exterior of modern-looking cabins. ©Disney If you’re a DVC member, you might want to hurry to purchase as these cabins could sell out! If you’re anything like us, then there’s a good chance that you often can’t resist the call of the McDonald’s drive-thru. Ba Da Ba Ba Bah… Yes, we write about Mickey D’s news almost as much as we write about Disney World. Yes, we really do get excited when there are new menu items and nostalgic new Happy Meal Toys. Sometimes, though, we get sad about McDonald’s news, because of course — the international locations get all the cool stuff. This is the case today, unfortunately. A never-before-seen McDonald’s sandwich is coming SOON to the United Kingdom. Let’s talk about it! The McDonald’s McSpicy is an all-new sandwich coming to UK locations on February 7th. It’ll only be around for 6 weeks, though, so you’ll have to grab it FAST. ©McDonald’s Cosmopolitan reported that the sandwich is a collaboration between the iconic fast food chain and Frank’s RedHot hot sauce. It’s a hot and spicy chicken breast fillet with a crispy coating of jalapeños. It’ll also feature a never-before-seen-in-the-UK Frank’s RedHot Mayo. All of this is snug as a bug in a rug between two sesame buns. ©McDonald’s According to Thomas O’Neil, Head of Menu at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, that demographic has an “obsession with spice.” This collaboration only made sense! McDonald’s always cheers us up! While we’re a teensy bit jealous that we can’t get the McSpicy here in the United States, it’s probably a good thing. It doesn’t seem that this sandwich will be too gentle on the stomach with all that SPICE. Watch out! It’s going to be a busy weekend! Crowds in Disney’s Hollywood Studios As you know, whenever Disney World has exclusive events, there’s almost always extra crowds at the parks and hotels. Events are happening this weekend at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios that will most likely ramp up the chaos, so let’s talk about it! There are two special ticketed events going on in Disney World this weekend (one on Friday, February 2nd, and the other on February 4th) and we found out why that is. Magic Kingdom The National Dance Team Championship is happening in Orlando, and one of the main venues for this event will be the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World. Historically, the teams taking part in this event stay on Disney property, so if you’re planning your trip during this time, keep that in mind. (We’ve seen a lot of those large groups and dance teams typically staying at Disney’s Value Resorts, like All-Star Sports, Music, and Movies.) ESPN Wide World of Sports These participating teams also have the opportunity to purchase park tickets to Disney World — meaning that the parks may be significantly more crowded during these times. This brings us to the events we were talking about earlier. Disney is hosting an After Hours party at Magic Kingdom on Friday, February 2nd from 11PM to 1AM, and then a Celebration party at Hollywood Studios on February 4th from 9PM to 1AM. After Hours event in Hollywood Studios These parties require special tickets that were sold to participants in the convention and their families. If your trip to Disney World lines up with these events, keep in mind that the crowd levels may increase, and traffic around the parks may be more backed up than usual. Plan accordingly! There are those crowds! Right now, it looks like Magic Kingdom will be closing at 11PM and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing at 9PM for park guests on the nights of the parties, but we will update you if that changes as the events get closer. We’re seeing quite a few changes at Disney’s BoardWalk these days. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Big River Grille just closed permanently a few days ago, and The Cake Bake Shop is under construction with an opening planned for this year. We’re also keeping an eye on construction at the future home of Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. So with a few food options currently unavailable, the BoardWalk has a new solution! Recently, a new food truck has arrived on the BoardWalk, just past Big River Grille’s old home, near Jellyrolls. Say hello to App’s! It’s interesting to see a food truck set up here — we typically find them in Disney Springs instead. But with two restaurants under construction and one closed, the need for relief food is STRONG. There’s a new food truck! There are two high-top tables set up outside, but there are also plenty of empty outdoor tables and benches in the general area. The truck has a really varied menu with options for a bunch of different tastes. They’ve got a variety of things on the menu When we say varied, we MEAN it! They’ve got everything from empanadas to hot dogs to burgers to chicken wraps. And all their food is 100% fat-free. Menu The prices seem to be a little bit higher than your average Disney World quick service, but they’ve got some unique options on the menu. If you’re interested in checking it out, head on over to the BoardWalk! We’ll keep you updated with any more food news from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB.
