  1. Who doesn’t love a sweet snack at Disney World? Cinderella Castle Well, we may or may not have found some dupes for Crumbl Cookies — some of the biggest, sweetest, and most popular cookies you can find right now. We know about the cookie bar at Summer House on the Lake, and the HUGE cookies at Gideons Bakehouse — but there are more cookies hiding in a place you may not expect. It is time to take a trip to EPCOT and visit Sunshine Seasons (after riding Living with the Land, of course –we’re not animals). When we saw “Artisinal cookies” on the menu, they caught our attention IMMEDIATELY. The menu! We tried the Honey Sugar Cookie for $4.49. It’s a sugar cookie topped with honey-flavored icing, a honeycomb, and a cute edible bee! Isn’t it cute? We were big fans of this one! You get a lot of nice hints of honey in the frosting, but it isn’t too overpowering. The sugar cookie itself felt like a soft, standard sugar cookie. The frosting was creamy, and the cookie itself was nice and chewy. We enjoyed this a lot, so if you’re looking for a sweet treat with a unique flavor, check this cookie out at Sunshine Seasons! The frosting even LOOKS fluffy! Up next, we grabbed the Birthday Cake Cookie for $4.49. This one looked super cute and reminded us of a classic Crumbl cookie, so we knew we had to give it a try. We see what you’re doing, Disney! The sprinkles were a cute touch! We think this is the same base sugar cookie as the honey one, but we found that the flavor here was slightly underwhelming. The frosting didn’t have any distinct flavor — it just tasted like sugar. We didn’t pick up any notes of vanilla or any other hints of different flavors. While this cookie is pretty to look at, we would probably choose the honey bee cookie if we had to pick one. Crumbl: 1 Disney: 0. How pretty! After this, we decided we needed a drink to finish our experience. We noticed that Sunshine Seasons had a new boba drink, so we decided to give it a try, too! This is the Tropical Boba Juice, and we got it for $5.49. This juice is made of Minute Maid strawberry, Minute Maid mango, Minute Maid zero-sugar lemonade, and boba pearls. OBSESSED with this color! This drink is so pretty, but does the flavor measure up? Well, it depends on what you like! When we tried it, we immediately noticed that the mango flavor overpowers the drink. It took a few sips for us to find the strawberry and lemonade flavors — and once we did, it was STILL difficult to pick up on them. If you like a mango flavor, this drink is for you. If you’re looking for something that is more of a combination of those flavors, maybe pass on this. The boba was a nice addition to the drink — they were your typical boba pearls but didn’t have much of a flavor. Tropical Boba! Something that we noticed immediately was that there was a lot of pulp at the bottom of this drink. It added A LOT of texture, and you couldn’t really avoid this. All you anti-pulp people, beware! Sunshine Seasons Overall, could these cookies rival the likes of Crumbl? We thought the Honey Sugar Cookie was tasty, but the Birthday Cake Cookie left a lot to the imagination, so we wouldn’t consider that a dupe. It was still good, but we were hoping for more. 2. We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty darn excited about Universal Orlando’s new theme park, Epic Universe. ©Universal | Epic Universe Concept Art The new park will be opening sometime in 2025, but Universal just dropped a whole bunch of news about what we can expect when it does. New lands are on the way including Celestial Park, which will be the central hub of Epic Universe. What is Celestial Park? We’re so glad you asked. Universal Orlando has officially revealed new details about Epic Universe, including new lands like Celestial Park. This area will be the central hub connecting the four other lands and it will also be the first one you step into once you enter the park. ©Universal We learned that Celestial Park is expected to include “rolling gardens, chasing waterways, and strolling pathways,” and is meant to mimic a natural park. Once you enter, you’ll be immersed in “lush living gardens nestled along shimmering waters surrounded by stunning architecture inspired by astronomical and mythological elements.” The Cronos ©Universal And, while that sounds relaxing, Celestial Park will also be where visitors can “take flight across a shooting comet on a roller coaster adventure, dine at brand-new restaurants and cuisines, and shop for exclusive merchandise.” ©Universal There will be two full-service restaurants here. The first, Atlantic, is a full-service “surf and turf” restaurant set inside a Victorian aquarium with sweeping views of the land. ©Universal The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant will feature authentic Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food with neon dragons and lanterns surrounding you as you dine. If you’re looking for some quick eats, The Oak & Star Tavern will serve up barbecue and Pizza Moon will feature — you guessed it — pizzas. And, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets is where you’ll want to head. ©Universal In addition to eats, you’ll find Starfall Racers, a dual-launch roller coaster, with two vehicles that launch simultaneously and “race” each other! The coaster will reach speeds up to 62 miles per hour, and the track will reach up to 133 feet high. In total, there are 5,000 feet of track. The ride vehicles look like comets, and they “race along an inverted crisscross, known as the ‘Celestial Spin’ in a dazzling display of blazing colors and ethereal music.” There is a 48-inch height requirement for this ride! ©Universal There is no height requirement for the Constellation Carousel, so the whole family can enjoy this ride. This “imaginative carousel” is themed to the constellations. The animals in the carousel include celestial lions, dragons, peacocks, and more. ©Universal Every animal rotates 360 degrees and lifts riders up to six feet in the air! Universal said, “Celestial music and color dazzle your senses as you whirl and twirl together across the Milky Way.” ©Universal There will also be an interactive wet-play area doubling as a giant compass rose for the whole park. The water display will include dancing crystal blue fountains and is capable of reaching up to 135 feet in the air. Several fountain shows will be performed to music here as well. ©Universal WHEW! These details are just making us wish 2025 would hurry up and get here already. We’ll be on the lookout for even more Epic Universe news, so stay tuned to DFB for more! 5. No one is hiding this truth — Disney World can be expensive! Spaceship Earth in EPCOT When you start calculating the flight cost, hotel reservation, and park tickets, you’ll quickly see how much money it can cost to visit Disney World. And that doesn’t even include the other expenses like dining. So, what can you do to help bring the cost down? Let’s talk about a very cheap lunch option in Disney World that could be a crowd-pleaser for your group! Let’s talk about the time we got the Quiche Lorraine. This delightful little meal came from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in EPCOT’s France Pavilion. Les Halles This meal only set us back $6.50. So, if your party of three wants these for lunch, your total will be less than $20! (It used to be $7.95 but Disney just dropped the price to $6.50. Thanks, Disney!) Quiche Lorraine It’s a quiche made with Ham and Gruyere. Quiche Lorraine Okay, so what did we think about this super cheap meal? We love this quiche! It’s so tasty and the portion is very filling. It makes for a great lunch! Also, because it’s so cheap, it might leave some room in your budget later for dessert. One more thing, don’t forget to ask for your free cup of water, too, to be even more frugal! Don’t forget your free water So it is VERY possible to eat on a tight budget at Disney World, and we’re always looking for ways to help you save more money on your trip. 6. A whole new collection of treats just burst on the scene at Disney World! Looks delicious! This February in Disney World, we’re finding all kinds of tasty new treats and savory selections! What’s with all the new snacks? Disney is hosting the Celebrate Soulfully event for Black History Month. Not only did we get a chance to finally taste some of Tiana’s Famous Beignets, but we also found a milkshake we went BANANAS for! However, our hunt to try them all wasn’t over, so we found ourselves looking for a dino-bite snack! We popped over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try out one of its latest treats! Disney’s Animal Kingdom The sweet treat we were after this time can be found at Dino-Bite Snacks in Dinoland U.S.A., right next door to Restaurantosaurus (the resident quick service restaurant for this land). This spot is a bit tucked away, so look for the shiny metal building and you’ll be in the right spot. Just follow the sign to “EAT HERE!” Dino-Bite Snacks It didn’t take long for us to spot the sign for the NEW Peach Cobbler Mini Cake. It’s available February 1st through 29th and was inspired by a recipe featured in What Mrs. Fisher Knows About Old Southern Cooking, the first cookbook by an African American author. How fun! Just what we’re looking for! We picked up this treat for $8.79. It is made of vanilla cake, cinnamon-caramel-peach filling, and oat streusel topping served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Peach Cobbler Mini Cake This treat’s a bit on the melty side, so you won’t want to waste too much time before you dig in! If you like traditional cobbler, you’ll DEFINITELY like this one. It has the same “crust” as a baked cobbler with that oat streusel topping, but once you dig your spoon through that layer, you get sweet peaches and a buttery vanilla cake. It’s a bit melty The cake is really the best part of this snack — it’s moist, crumbles easily, and adds so much butter flavor. And, of course, you can’t have a cobbler without vanilla ice cream! This treat is served warm, so be warned because the ice cream starts melting right away and infuses the layers beneath it with creaminess and a silky texture. The cake! Disney tends to pile on the toppings, and we are a bit surprised this one doesn’t have some sort of sauce drizzle on top, but we’re glad they showed restraint here. Sometimes, simple is best. Warm, gooey, and full of flavor! Additional flavors would have detracted from this treat. Without the ice cream, we would have found the serving size on the small side for the price, but it’s a good price for what you get with the big scoop of vanilla on top. Overall, we were impressed by this treat and would order it again. Now that’s a WIN! We’ve eaten EVERYWHERE in Disney World! 7. Disney’s newest hotel has opened at Disneyland — and it’s pretty amazing! Pixar Place Hotel We’re talking about Pixar Place Hotel, which was re-themed from the previous Paradise Pier Hotel. The new hotel, though, is ALL about Pixar movies and has a ton of fun movie details that Pixar fans are going to love. Even better, you can even meet some RARE Pixar characters there, too. Now, we’ve already given you a room tour of a standard room at Pixar Place Hotel, but now we’re taking you on a tour of one of the hotel’s Pixel Signature Suites! So, as we mentioned, EVERYTHING at the Pixar Place Hotel is Pixar-themed, and you’ll see some of your favorite movies represented throughout the hotel, including Soul, The Incredibles, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and more! The details are EVERYWHERE. This hotel certainly got a serious glow-up. Inside Pixar Place Hotel The hotel also has a brand new restaurant, including a flagship restaurant on the first floor, Great Maple, which is a franchise that is a Southern California favorite. Great Maple You’ll also find a new grab-and-go coffee and breakfast spot, Sketch Pad Cafe. Lavender Latte from Sketch Pad Cafe For those who want to lounge by the pool, Small Bytes has drinks and…well…small bites. Small Bytes The pool also got a massive upgrade — this entire area is SO cool now. Pixar Place Hotel pool area So let’s look at those Pixel Signature Suites, which you can get as a 1 Bedroom Suite (which sleeps up to 4 adults), a 2 Bedroom Connecting Suite (which sleeps up to 9 adults), or a 3 Bedroom Suite (which sleeps up to 14 adults). All Pixel Signature Suites are on the third floor and feature a patio with easy access to the pool (which is also on the third floor). We got a look at a 2-bedroom Connecting Suite. These rooms feature a full living area with a sofa (which pulls out to a bed), two chairs, a few small tables, a nice big TV, and a cabinet and drawers for storage. As you can see, there are sliding doors that lead out to the patio. A living area There’s also a small dining area with a table and four chairs. As you can see, the room features mostly hardwood floors. Dining area If you look UP, you’ll see a fun lighting fixture above the table with a pattern of Pixar lamps. Even the lighting has details The walls are full of some very cool Pixar artwork. We spy Kevin, Sadness, Remy, and more of our favorite characters! Artwork in dining area There’s also a kitchenette with a separate counter. Here, you’ve got some chairs, a microwave, a full sink, and more. Kitchenette Check it out! You’ll also find a display of 3D models used for creating Pixar characters. Each room will have a different set of models. This room had models from Ratatouille. Models for Ratatouille The main bedroom has a king bed with nightstands on each side. There’s a large closet in the room, too. Looks like there is plenty of room to unpack! Main bedroom We also LOVED the Pixar mural above the bed that spans the length of the room. Love the artwork This room also has a TV, as well as a chest of drawers for storing your stuff. Even more fun artwork with Pixar characters hangs on the wall. TV and chest of drawers Each suite comes with a set of Pixar Place Hotel robes. It’s the little details like this that really make us smile! Robes The main bedroom has a spacious bathroom. It’s bright, light, and clean. Bathroom There’s a walk-in shower next to the toilet. Shower The shower also has dispensers for soap, shampoo, and conditioner. There’s even a handheld showerhead. Inside the shower Need to take a long soak after a day in the parks? There’s a DEEP soaking tub in this bathroom, too. Um, can we bring this bathroom home with us? Because we could get used to this kind of living. Soaking tub The second bedroom has two queen beds and the same fun Pixar mural. Second bedroom This room also features a desk — but, excuse us, LOOK AT THE PIXAR LAMP. There’s another TV in here, along with a sofa that also converts into a bed. LOTS of space for folks to sleep in these suites, y’all. The LAMP! This bedroom has a smaller bathroom with a walk-in shower. Bathroom in second bedroom There’s also a long counter and mirror. Note that you’ll find H20 amenities at this hotel. (They smell AMAZING!) 8. Last year, we said goodbye to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser forever. Signs for Galactic Starcruiser Although the experience of being on the Starcruiser was unique, Disney decided to close it because “it didn’t perform” the way Disney had hoped.” Many blamed Disney’s marketing for the experience, while others believed the high price made it mostly unobtainable for many Star Wars fans. Well, now, the building that held the Galactic Starcruiser is just sitting empty, but we’re seeing indications that Disney isn’t quite done with it just yet. Permit for “general construction” The first clue we saw that indicates Disney hasn’t completely abandoned the Galactic Starcruiser building was a permit filed in August 2023, for “general construction” at 201 S. Studio Drive, the address for the Galactic Starcruiser. The contractor on the permit was Colwill Engineering, which has worked with Disney in the past. This company has expertise in engineering, mechanical, electrical, and technology work. Hmmm…. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Atrium The permit didn’t include anything that makes us believe a big update was happening at the location, but the fact that it’s happening AT the Galactic Starcruiser address is interesting, to say the least. Disney has not stated that it has plans for the building, but SOMETHING is happening there. Learn more about this permit Disney sent a survey to Galactic Starcruiser guests AFTER it closed Something else that we found interesting is guests who were on the Galactic Starcruiser’s final voyages received a survey via email from Disney after the experience closed. The questions on the survey suggest Disney is considering doing something NEW with the space. The survey has four sections, each dedicated to an experience on the ship. There was also an additional section for guests to fill out about “Moments That Shaped My Halcyon Starcruiser Experience.” Characters on the Starcruiser Some questions were specific, while others were more general, but why would Disney feel the need to have that information for something that’s since closed? The most obvious answer is that Disney wants to do something else with the space and is putting out feelers to see what guests most liked about the experience. Here’s more about that survey Disney filed ANOTHER permit for the space Disney recently filed a SECOND permit for the space occupied by the former Galactic Starcruiser. The company filed a Notice of Commencement on January 25th, 2024 for “general construction” at the same address as before. The contractor listed this time is Sunshine Awning & Graphic Design, suggesting the space is getting some cosmetic changes. Does Disney have more plans for Galactic Starcruiser Granted, permits need to be filed for all sorts of work, even when it’s minor, so there’s no guarantee this permit means anything. However, it still means that Disney hasn’t completely abandoned the space. This is the second permit, after all, so, again, Disney is doing SOMETHING there. More details about this permit Disney mentioned it wants to learn from the failed experience Disney’s initial statement about the Galactic Starcruiser’s closure suggested that at least some of the ideas explored with the experience could return. Disney said, “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.” Chewbacca was part of the experience Okay, so Disney doesn’t say where those future experiences could happen, but considering this, in addition to the two permits and guest survey, we could believe the company is wanting to bring it back in some way with what it’s learned. Disney’s full comments about why Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser closed So those are clues that Disney isn’t quite done with the Galactic Starcruiser just yet. Again note that Disney has not revealed any plans for either, but we’ll continue to look out for more signs that something is happening there. 9. The world’s biggest family man is going to be in Orlando. This is not a drill. Main Street U.S.A. While being in Orlando may not be a big deal, being in Orlando and SO CLOSE to Disney World is pretty tempting — even for celebrities. History has shown us that celebrities love a good trip to Disney World — and we don’t expect (or want) that trend to end anytime soon. Oh, and we’re not just speculating here. The celebrity in question mentioned plans to visit Disney World. Folks, buckle up because the Kelce family is taking on Disney World! That’s right, friends — we will be seeing a member of the Kelce clan at Disney World. Jason Kelce will be in town for the Pro Bowl, which is where some of the best players in the NFL get together and participate in a football game. It is no surprise that we’ll see some Eagles players in Orlando, but we’re really looking forward to Kelce’s trip to Disney World while he is in Orlando. ©Donna Kelce via Instagram While talking to People about the Pro Bowl, Kelce stated, “…but it’s down in Orlando so I get to take my kids to Walt Disney World.” That’s confirmation enough for us. We’ll see ya at the gates, Kelce. ©Kylie Kelce via Instagram Just kidding. While we love seeing celebrities with their families at Disney World, we also love catching a glimpse of them and moving on so they can spend time with their families. Save those meet-and-greets for Mickey Mouse, people! ©Kylie Kelce via Instagram Kelce also mentioned that this is different than coming to Disney World after the Super Bowl, but said it didn’t really matter — as long as his oldest daughter, Wyatt, gets to see Elsa (same). Our goal would be to meet Elsa, too! The family was last in Disney World in July with Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce (aka Momma Kelce). We’re excited to see who joins him during this trip. We know that Travis Kelce won’t be participating in the Pro Bowl since he will be preparing for the Super Bowl — but we can still hold out hope that he (and maybe Taylor Swift ) will show up for a quick family trip to Disney World. 10. Okay, so going to Disney World isn’t cheap. Cinderella Castle in Disney World Sure, there are ways to save money. You could even manage to find a great flight deal. Sometimes, there are even deals on hotel stays and tickets. But one Disney fan tried to get into Disney World for less money than anyone has IN YEARS…by using a vintage ticket from 1978. So, the question on everyone’s mind: did it work?! Disney fan Matthew Ables recently used a Magic Kingdom park ticket from 1978 that cost just $8 at the time to visit Disney World. Ables posted a video on TikTok about how he discovered the 46-year-old ticket in his family home. We’re walking right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. Ables said, “It’s been collecting dust since before I was born.” He assumed it was just an old family keepsake, but then he realized that the ticket had never been used and had no expiration date. So he decided to fly to Orlando and see if he could use it. Magic Kingdom In the video, we see Ables walking to guest relations at Magic Kingdom. A Cast Member there stamped the ticket void, so it seemed that Ables would not be able to use it, but the same Cast Member came back shortly after that and handed Ables a modern ticket to the park. “I can’t believe this actually worked,” Ables says in the video just before he successfully scans into Magic Kingdom with the new ticket. IT WORKED! Considering that a ticket for Magic Kingdom runs from $109 to $164, this might be the best hack EVER to get into Disney World. Here’s the full video below: Now, we doubt Disney is going to encourage folks to start hunting down those vintage unused tickets, and it could even be possible that the unused ticket could have gone for even MORE than $164 on eBay. 11. It may feel like it was just yesterday that Disney dropped a TON of updates on new projects planned for the parks and resorts. But time flies — and we’ve already got a potential update on the HUGE Magic Kingdom park expansion. Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom ©Disney We’re starting to see some of Disney’s visions come to life through the newest Disney Cruise Line ship to join the fleet, Disney’s latest tropical destination for Disney Cruise Line passengers, the appearance of the Hatbox Ghost in Disney World’s version of the Haunted Mansion ride, and most recently the closing of Country Bear Jamboree to make way for a new version of the classic attraction. But there’s one project that’s been on our minds a LOT lately. Let’s talk aboutit! If you’ve been waiting with bated breath to hear what could be “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain,” we may have clues bringing us one step closer. Ever since the “blue sky” segment presented by Disney’s Chairman, Josh D’Amaro, during 2023’s Destination D23 event, we’ve been keeping our eyes and ears out for updates on some major projects Disney teased. ©Disney However, the recently public 2023 Reedy Creek Improvement District long-term land use plan may be our first hint about what’s to come. Disney’s filing outlines some BIG changes from its last land use plan, which was proposed in 2020. Reedy Creek Improvement District This new plan added a new designation for land use called “Marginally Unsuitable.” The 2023 plan identifies these areas as land with recognizable constraints for development. A big factor in determining if this land falls under “marginally unsuitable” directly relates to its proximity to wetlands within the 100-year flood elevation. Future development of these areas would be permitted only to the extent allowable under the District’s Long Term Permits and would require compensating storage to be provided. In total, there are 1,731 acres in this category. From the figures included in the 2023 plan, we see that the large area to the north of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom has changed to the new designation of “Marginally Unsuitable,” outlined in the light green areas. ©RCID This designation change means that this land area has been updated from “land considered unavailable for development” to “development is permitted to the extent allowable under the District’s Long Term Permits.” Additionally, the land immediately next to Big Thunder Mountain has also changed its designation to “marginally unsuitable.” This happens to be the same area of land where Disney teased a potential Magic Kingdom expansion. Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom ©Disney All of these land category changes could be our first insight into whether those blue sky projects are even going to be possible. This may indicate that what’s “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” could be possible with quite a bit of work to make the land suitable enough for an expansion. ©Disney We’re interested to see what will come of this land and how long it will take Disney to develop it. As you may recall, Disney previously stated that it plans to invest $60 billion into its parks division, but later clarified that those major expansion projects likely won’t happen for another five years. But hey — we’ll be sure to share any updates we see along the way! Big Thunder Mountain Be sure to stay tuned with us for the latest in Disney news, updates, and more! 12. Is it time for a breakup? Disney World Annual Pass Breakups can be hard, especially if you’re talking about breaking up with your Disney World Annual Pass. The reality is that even with hotel discounts, complimentary magnets, and other exclusive discounts, sometimes there just aren’t enough benefits to keep renewing your annual pass year after year. Also, one Disney World competitor is making it very enticing to switch to their annual pass. Disney World annual passes seem to be a divisive topic as of late with some very vocal about their intent to not renew them. Is it time for you to ditch your Disney World Annual Pass for a Universal One? It may be. So, let’s talk about a couple of reasons why you may be considering the switch. Annual Pass The Cost of Annual Passes This one is probably obvious, but the cost of Disney World Annual Passes is VERY HIGH. The prices for the different passes are: Incredi-Pass: $1,449 Sorcerer Pass: $999 Pirate Pass: $799 Pixie Dust Pass: $439 That’s an incredible amount to spend! Also, the Incredi-Pass (the highest level pass) is the only one that is available to non-Florida Residents and non-Disney Vacation Club Members. Out-of-state Disney Vacation Club Members have access to the Sorceror Pass as well, but the Pirate and Pixie Dust Passes are exclusive to Florida Residents. One other thing to keep in mind is that if you live out of state, you don’t get access to the flexible payment option (Monthly Payment Program) either, as that’s reserved only for Florida Residents. Annual Pass Even if the splurge is an option, it might not be worth it. Though an Annual Pass can be great if you are coming to the parks a lot, it takes a number of visits to make it worth the spend. Typically, guests will need to visit at least 6 times (as long as they park hop) or 9 times (if they don’t park hop) to get their money’s worth on the highest level pass. If you’re completely fine with one trip to Disney World in a year, the Annual Pass might not provide enough value to be worth the major spend. Walt Disney World Annual Pass Now, let’s have a look at the general prices for the different annual passes from Universal Orlando Resort: (Florida residents do have discounted prices) 2-Park Passes Premium Pass: $905 Preferred Pass: $630 Power Pass: $475 Seasonal Pass: $425 3-Park Passes Premium Pass: $1,095 Preferred Pass: $740 Power Pass: $585 Seasonal Pass: $525 ©Universal Orlando You can already tell that the prices are more reasonable, and if you were looking for a flexible payment option (FlexPay) but live out-of-state, you’re in luck as they don’t restrict it to only Florida residents. This all brings us to the next point, and we’re talking about the thrills. Disney World’s Not Checking All The Boxes The level of immersion and accessibility for the whole family at Disney World is unparalleled. There’s no question about that. However, there is a distinct lack in the “thrills” department that has been sending Disney die-hards right into Universal’s arms. TRON Lightcycle / Run Yes, Disney World does have some “thrilling” rides like Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom. But the overall feeling is that the family is where the focus at Disney World is and has been, and the vast majority of the attractions reflect that. This is where Universal Orlando Resort steps in. The Incredible Hulk Coaster When you look at the lineup of attractions at Universal it is impressive enough to give even the most daring roller coasters junkies a pause. You have the high-speed Jurassic World VelociCoaster and The Incredible Hulk Coaster, and we haven’t even touched on what’s happening with the Harry Potter rides like Hagrid’s or Escape from Gringotts. All of these just bring us up to the front door of the veritable mammoth of a theme park that Universal is building right next door! We’re talking about Epic Universe. ©Universal | Epic Universe Concept Art Yes, Universal Orlando is building a NEW park, and it’s already living up to its “epic” title. The new park includes a Super Nintendo World, lands based on How To Train Your Dragon, and Harry Potter could potentially make their way to the park. We’ve even just seen that a NEW dual-racing roller coaster is in the works, too! ©Universal With all that, Disney World’s got an “EPIC” challenge they’re facing and they’re not oblivious to the changing tides. Disney has announced plans to spend $60 billion over the next 10 years investing and expanding in its parks. But right now, we haven’t seen any concrete plans announced. All we have heard from Disney leadership has been about a number of “blue sky” ideas like a potential addition of a “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” land in Magic Kingdom that could include Disney Villains IP and concept art of expansions to Animal Kingdom. Concept art for DinoLand expansion ©Disney So, if you’re a thrill seeker and currently a Disney World Annual Passholder, Disney has their work cut out for them with trying to convince you to stay a Passholder for the foreseeable future. That’s all we have for the moment. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more news, so make sure to follow along for more. Looking for more on Epic Universe? Click here! 14. The Walt Disney Company is getting ready for its 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, and they’re pleading with stakeholders to support their nominations for the Board of Directors. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters Disney made it clear that they do not endorse the nominations of Nelson Peltz and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo in their announcement, and now, a letter has been sent to shareholders urging them to vote against Peltz and Rasulo. The 2024 Walt Disney Company Annual Meeting of Shareholders is taking place on April 3rd, and that’s when voting on Disney’s new Board of Directors will happen. Ahead of the meeting, Disney has sent a letter to shareholders urging them to vote against two outside candidates. Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times Disney has previously specified that “the Board does NOT endorse the nominations of Nelson Peltz and James Rasulo put forth by Trian Fund Management, L.P. and its affiliates, led by Nelson Peltz and supported by former Disney executive Isaac Perlmutter (collectively, the “Trian Group”).” The notice went on to say, “The Board recommends that shareholders do not vote for the Trian Group nominees, and that they reject a related proposal from the Trian Group to amend the Company Bylaws.” Disney’s Board also “does not endorse the nominations of Craig Hatkoff, Jessica Schell and Leah Solivan put forth for election as directors by Blackwells Onshore I LLC, Blackwells Capital LLC and Jason Aintabi (collectively, the “Blackwells Group”).” ©Trian Partners In the new letter, Disney said, “The Disney Board of Directors does not endorse the Trian Group nominees, Nelson Peltz and Jay Rasulo, or the Blackwells nominees, Craig Hatkoff, Jessica Schell and Leah Solivan, and believes that they do not possess the appropriate range of talent, skill, perspective and/or expertise to effectively support the Board’s ongoing efforts to drive profitable growth and shareholder value creation in the face of continuing, industry-wide challenges.” Disney believes Peltz “brings no media experience and has presented no strategic ideas for Disney,” while Rasulo “is stale given he left Disney in 2015 and has not held any executive positions in the industry since.” ©New York Times Nelson Peltz of Trian Partners According to Disney, all 12 of its nominees are “best qualified to create sustainable shareholder value. The Disney Board of Directors is comprised of engaged, diverse and dynamic leaders whose skills, perspective and insights are essential in driving profitable growth and delivering on Disney’s strategic priorities as the Company navigates ongoing, industry-wide challenges.” Cinderella Castle Here is the list of 12 nominees that the Disney Board of Directors recommends for election at the 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders: Mary T. 15. Traveling is tough enough — don’t let this potential passport issue trip you up! Orlando International Airport Here at DFB, we try to get you the best tips and advice when it comes to your travels to and from the Disney Parks. That includes finding cheap airfare and keeping you in the know about travel info even we wish we didn’t know. In our efforts to keep you up-to-date on all things travel, we came across an issue that could plague you on your next Disney trip — especially if you’re traveling internationally. Right now, some American passports are being rejected, even if they’re still valid. According to CNBC, despite the passport renewal process returning to normal after a rocky 2023, some travelers with American passports that are close to expiring (but haven’t expired yet) are still being turned away from other countries. Don’t expect this EPCOT passport to get you very far! Some countries, especially several in Europe, require American passports to be valid for 90 days BEYOND the end of your trip. This includes France, so if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland Paris any time soon, keep this fact in mind. Disneyland Paris Many Asian countries also require at least six months of validity for permission to enter, per the U.S. Department of State. Some places like Hong Kong require one month, so if you’re traveling to Tokyo Disney, Shanghai Disney, or Hong Kong Disneyland, you should become familiar with their respective country’s passport rules before you go. Arendelle Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland According to the State Department, border officials will assume you will use the full allotment of your no-visa days. This is a way for country governments to avoid any passport and visa complications. Speaking of visas, certain countries are also requiring Americans to purchase visas for entry. All of this info and the rules of specific countries can be found on the U.S. Department of State website (check under the “Learn About Your Destination” section!). Make traveling easier by prepping in advance! As is the case with planning a Disney World vacation, the best advice you can get regarding the matter is to plan well in advance. Apply for a new passport around a year before it expires. This also helps you avoid a $60 expedited passport processing fee. If you’re about to buy your first passport, the State Department can also help you — just check their website for more details! 16. Just days ago, Apple unveiled a new product that will be a game changer to Disney content. ©Apple With so many people choosing to consume their entertainment and news through streaming platforms and bundling it with other services, this could be revolutionary to how you “do” Disney from home. Not only will this technology be compatible with Disney+, but it could change the way you feel you’re interacting with Disney and immerse you more than ever before. Times and technology are changing and the way we choose to consume content is too! Apple has just released its latest technology, the Apple Vision Pro, and it stands to challenge your media experience. ©Apple In a nutshell, Apple’s new mixed-reality headset will blend virtual and augmented reality through their headset’s technology allowing the headpiece to overlay virtual images on live video of the real world. And they’re available starting TODAY! When you have the headset on, you’ll be able to see apps projected in front of you, and the headset is programmed to respond to your head and eye movement, so it’ll feel like “your mind is guiding the experience.” ©Apple What makes this deal even sweeter is that Disney+ subscribers who have purchased an Apple Vision Pro will be able to stream the entire Disney+ catalog on the goggles at no additional cost! Disney’s CEO Bob Iger said he hopes that the partnership with Apple to bring the Disney+ content will allow Disney fans an experience that will bring them “… closer to the characters and stories they love while immersing them more deeply in all that Disney has to offer.” ©Apple That’s not the ONLY thing Disney you can do on this thing, though! On top of being able to stream the entire Disney+ library, Disney has also announced there will be 4 “Disney+ Environments” that “magically transform users’ spaces into landscapes from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.” If you’ve ever wanted to “feel” what it would be like to be inside your favorite Disney films, turning on these “environments” on these goggles will be the closest thing you’ll get from home! ©Apple If you’re really wanting to immerse yourself in all things Disney, try turning on a Disney-themed environment like the Scare Floor from Pixar’s Monsters Inc., Marvel’s Avengers Tower, or the cockpit of Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder, and stream your Disney+ show or movie for the ultimate experience. ©Apple Did we mention you’ll be able to watch several movies in 3D, too? That’s right! Several newer titles to Disney+ will be compatible to stream in 3D right off the bat including a few box office heavy hitters like Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, and Encanto. ©Apple Disney has also stated that more titles and films will be added to the compatible 3D lineup and we can’t wait to see what gets added next! If you’re already ready to grab your wallet and start shopping on your mobile device RIGHT NOW, you may run into one little hiccup… these things are PRICEY! ©Apple Apple Vision Pro will cost you a cool $3,499 making them not totally affordable to everyone’s budget right out of the gate. Our hats are off to you though if you’re ready to be one of the first to experience this new technology! We’re excited to see how well these goggles are received and how they change your experience as a Disney fan! And as always, stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for more! 17. When it comes to Disney World treats, some of the best desserts can be found in the most unlikely creations. Tomorrowland Some of our favorite Disney World desserts can be found at the usual suspects, such as Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs or any place that sells Dole Whip. But we recently visited Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom and found a dessert that banana fanatics are going to LOVE! Over at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland, we discovered a NEW Bananas Foster Shake! Read below to see if it should be on your itinerary during your next Disney trip! The price isn’t too bad! This dessert costs $8.49 and is made with a banana milkshake layered with caramelized banana sauce and topped with whipped cream. OK, Disney! We like what we’re hearing. Bananas Foster Shake So how is it? Earth-shatteringly good if you ask us! This shake tastes like a blended banana pudding with thick and fresh banana slices that aren’t too sweet or tart — perfectly ripe. The caramel drizzle also has hints of banana, so it’s a total banana explosion! This shake was everything the Jollywood Nights Kermit’s Frozen Banana Bliss treat SHOULD have been. We also think the size of the drink makes the price fair, and the sweetness of the drink makes this a good once-per-day kind of treat. So who would like this? Banana lovers, obviously! We also think people who generally like shakes should give this a try as well. If you don’t like bananas, then definitely skip this shake. It’s overwhelmingly banana-flavored and a bit sweet, so keep that in mind. Don’t forget! It’s only available February 1st through 29th. 20. Come with us, Dear DFB Reader, on a journey through yesteryear. via AllEars.net You see, back in the day, there was a magical place called the Disney Store. These brick-and-mortar locations could be found in your local mall or shopping center and were absolutely filled with all sorts of Disney merchandise and souvenirs. We recently got a text from Mickey D’s about winning free burgers for a year, and now we finally have all the details! Hang on to your hamburger, because the Hamburglar is on the loose again. He’s looking for McDonald’s’ hottest, juiciest, and tastiest new, classic burger recipe. This is… a lot. According to McDonald’s these burgers are so good that the Hamburglar has stepped up his theft game with a brand new getaway car: the Burgercuda. That’s right, this custom, 1970 Plymouth Barracuda has been given a makeover and you might find it in a city near you. ©McDonald’s If you spot the car and scan the code on the vehicle in a city near you, you’ll get rewarded with an Arch Card and Hamburglar-inspired swag. Here’s how to spot the Burgercuda: Hamburglar’s iconic look: His signature black-and-white stripes are portrayed across the car’s interior and exterior, along with his logo on the headrests and red detailing throughout. Burger-loving details: The getaway car features bun-like hubcaps, a spare tire disguised as a giant cheeseburger, and a hidden burger warmer in the center console to ensure his stash stays perfectly hot, juicy and tasty. RBL RBL: Hamburglar’s signature catchphrase makes an appearance on the hood scoop and license plate. YUM And, whether you find the Burgercuda or not, you can enter to win FREE McDonald’s burgers for a year by visiting SpotHamburglar.com. 25. There are more than 40 (!!) new treats in Disney World right now, and we’re trying out a whole bunch of them to figure out which you should get on your next trip! Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Right now, we’re heading to a Fantasyland restaurant in Magic Kingdom to grab a brand-new dessert! Is this the next best treat in Disney World or a total flop? Come with us to find out! You can find the new Peach Cobbler at Pinocchio Village Haus in Magic Kingdom. This restaurant accepts Mobile Order, so you don’t even have to wait in line to grab the treat. Pinocchio Village Haus This treat is made with cinnamon panna cotta, peach cobbler, brown sugar streusel, and whipped cream with a Tiana chocolate piece for decoration. It’s $5.49. So pretty! There were parts of this treat that we REALLY enjoyed! The crunchy streusel layer was sweet and crumbly, and the peaches were super fresh and juicy. New Treat However, the panna cotta was a little bit difficult to cut into smaller pieces since the treat was served in such a small bowl. The cream at the bottom of the treat also wasn’t our favorite; It actually tasted totally fine, but we wished it were more substantial! Ice cream would’ve been awesome as a replacement. Tiana Peach Cobbler Although there were a couple of things we didn’t love about this treat, we think that, overall, it’s pretty tasty. If you’re a peach cobbler fan, it’s certainly a great alternative that’s easier to eat on the go! Digging in Head to Pinocchio Village Haus by March 1st to grab this treat while it’s available! This treat (along with many others) arrived as part of Disney’s Celebrate Soulfully event for Black History Month, so it’s only available for the month of February. Pinocchio Village Haus WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered!
