  1. We have exciting news about one of Disney Cruise Line’s NEW ships! ©Disney No, it’s not the Disney Treasure, which will be setting sail in December 2024 — We’re talking about the Disney Adventure, which will be setting sail from Singapore starting in 2025! We just found out a little bit more about what will be available on this ship and we need to talk more about this San Fransokyo Street idea ASAP! In Disney Cruise Line’s new announcement about the offerings on the ship, they describe San Franksokyo Street as an area inspired by Big Hero 6 that will be a “bustling family entertainment area featuring interactive games and activities, shops, cinemas and more.” San Fransokyo Square That sounds like a LOT of attractions for one area on the ship — cinemas (plural??), games, and more, all meant for families? This sounds pretty amazing to us. But what can we really expect to see in this area? While we don’t know for sure yet, we can take a look at San Fransokyo Square in Disney California Adventure for some ideas! San Fransokyo Square Over in San Fransokyo Square, there are currently 6 dining options you can experience: Aunt Cass Café (soups in bread bowls, Japanese-inspired dishes, and more) Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería (Beer garden) Rita’s Turbine Blenders (Frozen margaritas and non-alcoholic options) Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill (Street tacos) Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop (chocolate and ice cream deliciousness) Lucky Fortune Cookery (Asian-style meals on the go) Cappuccino Cart (Espresso specialties) We’d love to see some of these restaurants on board the Disney Adventure, even as snack stands, but we’re not thinking it’s likely since Disney has not said specifically there will be any dining in this area. Cappuccino Cart There are going to be some special shops available though, so we’re thinking those could bring in the Collectible Medallions you can grab in San Fransokyo Square in DCA currently! These feature characters from the film, and we think it’d be so fun to have Disney Cruise Line versions of them available only on board. San Fransokyo Square There’s also an exciting bakery tour you can experience in San Fransokyo Square (where you can sometimes buy bread shaped like Baymax!), and that would be an epic experience to bring on board too. Especially including that Baymax bread — even if it’s an additional cost, we’d totally buy that! Baymax Bread We can’t wait to hear more about what Disney has in store for this new ship, especially San Fransokyo Street. We’ll be sure to update you as we hear more, so stay tuned to DFB! 3. There’s one spot in Disney Springs that always has new offerings each and every month to get excited about, and that’s Gideon’s Bakehouse! Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs Gideon’s Bakehouse is known for its massive cookies and cake slices, many of which are available consistently each month, but there’s typically a limited-edition flavor of cookie (and sometimes cake slice) each month. Since it’s now July, there are actually TWO limited-time flavors you need to know about! For the month of July, you can grab two limited-time cookies at Gideon’s Bakehouse! The first is the Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip, which is a vanilla bean cookie fused with orange essence and mixed with Gideon’s favorite chocolates. Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie We loved this cookie when we had it back in 2022, so we’re super excited to see it return! Very melty The second cookie this month is the Lemon Poppy Crumb Cookie which is a lemon cookie filled with poppyseeds and pockets of white chocolate. Lemon Poppy Seed Crumb Cake Cookie This is one of the BEST Gideon’s Bakehouse cookies, in our opinion. We can’t wait to get it again, and we’re seriously tempted to get one every single day this month. Seriously. It’s THAT GOOD. Buttery goodness These are limited to 2 cookies per person, per day. These aren’t the only special snacks you can grab, though! Thanks to the special Flavors of Florida event happening in Disney Springs right now, you can also grab Key Lime Pie Cake Bars! These are Key Lime Cake topped with Key Lime Cream Cheese Buttercream and a channel of Key Lime Curd, dipped in Premium Dark Chocolate and sprinkled with Graham Cracker Crumble and Sea Salt. These are also limited to two per person, per day, and they’re VERY limited, so you may want to get there early! ©Gideon’s Bakehouse Additionally, the Mocha Orange Nitro Cold Brew is available again as well! This is made with Oatmilk, Maple Syrup, Mocha, and Fresh Orange, which makes it vegan and gluten-free. This drink is ONLY available at the Disney Springs Gideon’s location (not the East End Market location). ©Gideon’s Bakehouse There are also tons of other classic treats to grab like chocolate chip and cookies and cream cookies, lots of different cake slice flavors, and more. Be prepared to wait in line though — this is quite the popular spot. Gideon’s frequently has a virtual waitlist, so you’ll need to go to the store and sign up, then wait to be called back when it’s your turn to go inside. That can take a few hours, so you’ll need to budget some time for it! If you don’t have the time to wait that long, try to get to Gideon’s Bakehouse right when it opens, because usually it has a normal standby line that doesn’t take too long for a little while in the morning. Virtual queue line There’s so much to explore in Disney Springs, we definitely recommend spending at least a few hours away from the parks to check out some of the incredible restaurants and fun entertainment in the area. Plus, parking is free and there’s no entrance fee, so it can be a totally free trip if you choose not to buy anything! Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney World news! 4. Calling all galactic travelers! There’s a new Disney treat at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Ever since the Star Wars land opened in 2019 at Disneyland Park, Batuu has been home to many kinds of fun nods to the Star Wars universe, such as Oga’s Cantina and delicious Blue and Green Milk. In fact, if you can’t get enough of this tasty Disney drink, you’ve gotta check out this NEWEST limited-time offering! Right now, the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland is selling a special Green Milk with Klatooine Paddy Frog Eggs and we tried it out! Green Milk with Klatooine Paddy Frog Eggs This variation on Green Milk is made with strawberry purée and blueberry popping spheres. You can pick this up at the Milk Stand while supplies last for $9.49. Available while supplies last We tried this new concotion on a super hot day and it was so refreshing! It had the citrusy tropical flavor of regular green milk, but the purée added the taste of fresh and sweet strawberries. So refreshing! The blueberry popping spheres were a nice touch but they quickly sank to the bottom, so get your Instagram pictures fast! These blueberry spheres were good, but they were more artificial in flavor than the purée. While they didn’t hurt the drink, they also didn’t elevate it. Green Milk with Klatooine Paddy Frog Eggs All in all, we found this drink to be something akin to a smoothy, and that’s a good thing! Refreshing and sweet, we think this should appeal to already-established fans of Blue or Green Milk. If you don’t like those drinks or aren’t a huge fan of strawberries, then this might not be the Star Wars treat for you. Otherwise, we recommend trying this during your next visit to a galaxy far, far away! 5. Come with us to Disney Springs to try a NEW ride-themed treat! Disney Springs Tiana’s Bayou Adventure just opened in Magic Kingdom, and to celebrate the re-themed ride’s opening, Disney brought a bunch of new treats to the parks and hotels. Now, there’s a new Tiana-themed dessert at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, and you know we had to try it out. We grabbed the Over the Bayou Cake Bar from Amorette’s Patisserie for $8. Amorette’s Patisserie This is a vanilla cake bar coated in green-colored white chocolate with Tiana-themed decorations on top. Over the Bayou Cake Bar This treat had lots of vanilla flavor and was very sweet! It’s essentially a cake pop (you know, like the ones you get at Starbucks) in bar form. The treat was pretty one-note, and we would’ve liked a complementary flavor or extra element to break up all the vanilla. Over the Bayou Cake Bar There are little krispies inside the bar that add a crunch, and we liked that extra textural element. Over the Bayou Cake Bar The coating tasted like white chocolate, and the chocolate-to-cake ratio was just about perfect. Over the Bayou Cake Bar Be warned: this treat is SWEET. We think little kiddos will love the sweetness and the simple flavors, but if you just want a little treat, we’d recommend sharing this dessert with a couple of people. Over the Bayou Cake Bar Looking for more Tiana’s Bayou Adventure-themed eats in Disney World? Check out the Hot Honey Chicken with Sweet Potato Fries and Beignets at Golden Oak Outpost, the Butter Pecan Praline Sundae at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, the Tiana’s-themed popcorn mixes at Main Street Confectionery, and the Pecan Praline Caramel Apple, which is available at several Disney World parks and hotels. New Tiana-inspired popcorn mixes WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! We have reviewed nearly EVERY snack available at Disney World, and we’ve written a series of DFB Guides about them! 7. Attention All-Star Movie Resort fans: A MAJOR part of the hotel is now under construction. All-Star Movies If you’re staying at Disney’s popular, value-tier All-Star Movies Resort over the next month, be forewarned that the World Premiere Food Court – – touted by Disney as a place to “enjoy a blockbuster breakfast, lunch or dinner in a glitzy setting that resembles a grand movie theater lobby” – – won’t be what you’re used to. The World Premiere Food Court will be under construction from July 1st through the 31st, which is the entire month. During the refurbishment, you can still order food using the Mobile Order feature on the My Disney Experience app, and seating areas remain open. All-Star Movies Mobile Order signage We took a trip to All-Star Movies ourselves on July 1st to see for ourselves. This is what we found: The World Premiere Food Court As Disney specified, there are mobile order signs near the food court area that will allow you to order from your phone. According to a Cast Member we spoke with, the location’s menu has been temporarily minimized and streamlined to make this mobile order process as convenient as possible. All-Star Movies Mobile Order signage The location is fully mobile order at the moment and the kitchens, ordering areas, and registers are currently behind black curtains and other blockades. Renovation Once your mobile order is ready, you’ll be assigned a number and can come to a coordinating table with your number on it to pick up your food. Tables for Mobile Order pickup. All of the food court’s seating areas, as well as the drink stations, are still open and available… Packed seating … as is a microwave near the Silver Spoon Spirits pool bar. The microwave is still available. Self-service utensils can be found on a temporary cart. Tempprary silverware The World Premiere Food Court isn’t the only major part of the All-Star Movies Resort currently scheduled for renovation. According to Disney, the Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is going to be closed from January 2025 through April 2025. Fantasia Pool If you’re heading to All-Star Movies for a summer getaway over the next month, be prepared to deal with an under-construction, mobile order-only World Premiere food court. 12. There are plenty of reasons why someone might want to become a member of the Disney Vacation Club. DVC Welcome Center in Disney Springs DVC Members get tons of perks like discounts on dining, shopping, and more, early access to new rides and attractions, and of course — being able to vacation at Disney properties using pre-purchased points. Joining Disney Vacation Club is a commitment, though, and a new law may make you think twice about it. A new law will allow Disney Vacation Club to remove an owner, purchaser, or guest from the property for inappropriate conduct. House Bill 429 (HB 429) gives timeshare companies the same rights as hotels to ban those staying at their properties who engage in unruly conduct, even if at their “Home Resort,” in Disney’s case. The law explicitly allows timeshare companies — such as DVC — to “take any action, including arrest or removal from the timeshare property, against any purchaser, including a deeded owner, or guest or invitee of such purchaser or owner,” if they behave in conduct deemed inappropriate or in violation of the timeshare agreement. DVC Welcome Center in Disney Springs The relevant text of the law — which went into effect July 1st — can be read here: “With regard to any timeshare project as defined in s. 509.242(1)(g), the managing entity or manager has all of the rights and remedies of an operator of any public lodging establishment or public food service establishment as set forth in ss. 509.141, 509.142, 509.143, and 509.162 and is entitled to have a law enforcement officer take any action, including arrest or removal from the timeshare property, against any purchaser, including a deeded owner, or guest or invitee of such purchaser or owner who engages in conduct described in s. 509.141, s. 509.142, s. 509.143, or s. 509.162 or conduct in violation of the timeshare instrument.” Disney Vacation Club Many guests think of the DVC as Disney’s version of a timeshare. But uniquely, Members are not “locked in” to a particular Disney destination, Resort, style of accommodation, season of travel, or length of stay. Rather, Members utilize a Vacation Points system, offering more flexibility. Disney Vacation Club Members receive a yearly allotment of Vacation Points based off of “the size of the real estate interest” of their “Home” Disney Vacation Club Resort. Members may then use their Vacation Points to book their vacations. 13. In case you missed it, some MASSIVE changes are coming to Disney World! Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances I know it feels like yesterday, but Genie+ was introduced back in 2021, and just recently Disney announced that they’re doing away with it. They’re replacing that system with a new one — Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. While you’re still learning the ins and outs, let’s talk about which rides you should book first with it! Before we get into which rides you should book, here’s a brief primer: Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass will be starting on July 24th. ©Disney When the new system is in place, you’ll be able to: Make Lightning Lane plans before you get to Disney World You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations seven days before your trip if you are staying in a Disney World hotel You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations three days before your trip if you are not staying in a Disney World hotel Choose your attractions and times before purchasing Book Lightning Lane reservations for multiple vacation days, all in a single day Lightning Lane When it comes to booking, the rides are organized into tiers (which is reminiscent of the old FastPass system). Let’s start with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: ©Disney Here are the rides and tiers for Magic Kingdom: ©Disney Here are the rides and tiers for EPCOT: ©Disney Here are the rides and tiers for Disney’s Hollywood Studios: ©Disney About Disney’s Animal Kingdom, all of the rides are in the same tier: ©Disney Now, when it comes to Lightning Lane Single Pass, these are the available attractions for each park: Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Rise of the Resistance Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage ©Disney Now that we have ALL of that out of the way, let’s talk about what you might want to book with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. First things first, it’s going to depend on which park you choose. Let’s take them one at a time starting with Magic Kingdom. Again, the first tier includes: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The second tier has: The Barnstormer, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world”, Mad Tea Party, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland Speedway, and Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid You really can’t go wrong with any of the rides from tier one, but let’s choose Tiana’s Bayou Adventure since it’s the newest ride. For tier two, we’d recommend choosing two rides that typically have the longest waits or are most iconic, so maybe Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. So for this example, at Magic Kingdom, we’d pick Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Magic Kingdom Let’s move on to EPCOT. The first tier includes: Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Soarin’ Around the World. The second tier has: Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, Mission: SPACE, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Spaceship Earth, and Turtle Talk with Crush. For tier one, let’s choose Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure since it’s the newer of the three rides. For tier two, we’d recommend choosing two rides that typically have the longest waits or are most iconic, so maybe Journey into Imagination with Figment and Spaceship Earth. So for this example, at EPCOT, we’d pick Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Journey into Imagination with Figment, and Spaceship Earth. EPCOT Let’s move on to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The first tier includes: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Slinky Dog Dash. The second tier has: Alien Swirling Saucers, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Disney Junior Play & Dance!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Muppet*Vision 3D, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania! For tier one, using the same logic, let’s choose Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway since it’s the newer of the four rides. For tier two, we’d recommend choosing two rides that typically have the longest waits or are most iconic, so maybe The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania! So for this example, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’d pick Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Lastly, let’s move on to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There’s only one tier with these rides in it: Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Feathered Friends in Flight!, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!, It’s Tough to Be a Bug!, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Naʻvi River Journey. Let’s keep it consistent (using the same logic) and choose Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. So for this example, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’d pick Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. Disney’s Animal Kingdom There you have it! Those are the rides we’d pick using Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and now we want to hear from you! At the end of the day, your choices are your own and we know you’re going to pick well! 14. We did it(?!) CommuniCore Hall For roughly a month, CommuniCore Hall has been open at EPCOT, and many have been… erm… to put it nicely, questioning its value. However, we think we may have figured out some positive uses for the space. To understand the reaction to CommuniCore Hall, it’s important to understand the context. When EPCOT’s major reimagining was first announced in the late 2010s, the plans for the park were somewhat grand, with concept art displaying futuristic vistas that merged nature and technology in ways not typical to theme parks. However, the reality of this massive project was slightly different. Due to numerous factors — including the pandemic — EPCOT’s reimagining ended up much smaller than planned. Sure, some projects like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana ended up pretty much as they were supposed to. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind However, some like the Play! Pavilion transformation of the former Wonders of Life, the Mary Poppins dark ride in the U.K. pavilion, and the massive refurbishment of Spaceship Earth were axed entirely (and that’s not even getting into the areas of EPCOT that weren’t touched at all), and others ended up looking so different from their initial concept art that they may as well have been cut. ©Disney || Play Pavilion Concept Art And that brings us to CommuniCore Hall. Originally the space that’s currently CommuniCore Hall was supposed to be the World Celebration Festival Center. Disney released concept art for the Festival Center showing a space-age style design featuring a saucer shape, reflective columns and glass, winding staircases, and a rooftop garden. The original Festival Pavilion concept art. Along with this art, they also released a description that explained that the World Celebration Festival Center would be “the perfect place for live events, and the home base for Epcot’s signature festivals. It will provide a stunning elevated view of the entire park and an ideal spot to witness Epcot’s nighttime spectacular. This beautiful three-level structure will have one of the most remarkable architectural designs at any Disney park, featuring a plaza level, a middle expo level, and a park that sits in the sky on the top level.” Suffice to say, the version of CommuniCore Hall that was built — and opened last month as the “final piece” of EPCOT’s reimagining – is… well… not that. CommuniCore Hall Instead, many fans have complained that the hall is large, boxy, mostly empty, and taking up a large amount of real estate in the middle of the park, especially outside of EPCOT festival season. However, believe it or not, there are some benefits to CommuniCore Hall. It’s a large, air-conditioned space that’s mainly empty. In other words, it’s a perfect spot to come for a breather and sit in some air conditioning to relax. This is especially true if you’re traversing the park with young kids and need a place for them to take a nap outside of the sweltering heat. Does this make CommuniCore an ideal theme park environment or mean it was “worth” the construction time it took to build? Not necessarily, no. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some benefits to be gleaned from the hall for now. Stay tuned to DFB for further EPCOT updates. 16. A long Disney World refurbishment has FINALLY ended! Rock is BACK! Hollywood Studios’ Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith bid adieu for a long maintenance and refurbishment project in January, and remained closed for the duration of the year since. Initially, the coaster was listed as reopening in the “summer of 2024.” In late spring, Walt Disney World’s calendar was updated to show the ride would first be operating on July 27th. Last week, that changed to July 1st, which was the date we were “sure” of… until this weekend. On Sunday, June 30th, with no advance fanfare, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster held soft openings for the first time in half a year! So was anything new in the vaunted attraction? In short, no. Despite ever-present – – and often easily debunk-able – – rumors that the coaster would be losing its Aerosmith theme (the more prevalent current rumor sees them being replaced with Queen, but over the years it’s been everything from High School Musical and Hannah Montana to Mickey Mouse and The Descendants), the pre-show and ride experience remains essentially unchanged. As was essentially confirmed before it began, the months-long closure of the ride had more to do with repairing and upgrading “under-the-hood” technical aspects of the attraction than it did its actual theme. The coaster’s ride vehicle. The gift shop at the attraction’s exit remained virtually the same as well, offering ride-specific merchandise along with some more general Disney-related merchandise. This included numerous Stitch items, which fits thematically since Experiment 626 fancies himself a “King of Rock” after all. Elvis Stitch Meet-and-Greet After what seemed to be a successful soft opening on June 30th, crowds began rope-dropping the coaster early on July 1st to experience the attraction. However, they were disappointed to find the ride down for the early part of the morning, ruining the vibe of its big return. Oh rock stars, always fashionably late. Lots of people were waiting to ride the coaster, and it stayed down for a good part of the first hour that Hollywood Studios was open. However, the ride reopened around 10:15AM, which brought cheers from the waiting visitors. A large crowd waiting for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster on July 1st. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster’s return will be a boon for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as the thrill ride being available should better disperse crowds to the park’s Sunset Boulevard area, and provide at least some relief to the wait times of the park’s other major attractions like Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Aerosmith’s presence on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was a major change for Disney at the time. Originally opened in 1999, the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster holds the distinction of being the first coaster with an inversion at any U.S. Disney park, as well as being the fastest ride at Walt Disney World. According to theme park urban legend, Disney considered several bands – – including The Rolling Stones, U2, and KISS – – to serve as the ride’s soundtrack before striking a deal with Aerosmith. The so-called “Bad Boys of Boston” were riding a wave of popularity in 1999, buoyed by a late 1980s/early 1990s comeback that had culminated in the #1 single “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” (not so coincidently from the soundtrack to the Disney-produced Armageddon). The band’s relevancy has taken a dip in the last two decades, which – – along with singer Steven Tyler’s alleged legal issues – – is likely why rumors of the band being replaced often crop up around the ride. The Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, one of the most thrilling attractions at Walt Disney World, is back after a long maintenance project and – – for better or worse – – is still offering the same experience! Stay tuned to DFB for further updates on the attraction. 17. There has been a change on Main Street, U.S.A., recently, but it may not be very obvious to some. Main Street Disney World has seen so many changes over the last few years! From additions like Tron Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom to the completion of the EPCOT Transformation, Disney World has been in a state of change. And this is good. Walt once said that Disneyland will never be completed, and the same goes for Disney World! Well, recently, there was a new change on Main Street, but this time, it benefitted Cast Members! We love Cast Members, and they make magic for us each and every day! Recently, Cast Members who work on Main Street got new costumes! If you did not know, Cast Members around Disney World are assigned certain costumes depending on their role. Cast Members check out their costumes at various costuming locations. We LOVE Cast Members! Costume updates have been a recent trend around the resorts. PhotoPass Cast Members at both Disney World and Disneyland got new costumes, and Cast Members at EPCOT also recently got new costumes! PhotoPass photographers in Disneyland Cast Member costumes are part of the show and reflect where the Cast Member is working. Since Main Street reflects the turn of the century, so do the Cast Members’ costumes. Due to this, these costumes were thick, but now Disney has redesigned them with lightweight fabric, making them more breathable! Plus, these new costumes were even made of recycled materials! Magic Kingdom Cast Members It seems like these new costumes came at the perfect time, as it is very hot in Disney World right now! New costumes! One costume really caught our eye! Cast Members who work merchandise on Main Street have the option to wear a costume that includes a skirt. This skirt just happens to have flowers on it! Magic Kingdom Cast Members We were intrigued by these flowers and a Cast Member actually shared the meaning behind each flower! There are three flowers featured on the skirt. First you have the an Orange Blossom for the Florida State Flower since Disney World is located in Florida. Next, there is a White Hawthorn Blossom, which is the state flower of Missouri. Walt grew up in Marceline, Missouri. You can still visit Marceline’s Main Street which gave Walt the idea for his very own Main Street that we know and love today! The third flower is the California state flower, a California Poppy, to represent Disneyland in California. Close up of the skirt! Cast Members also wear a cameo and carved into it is a Lily for Walt’s wife, Lillian! Cameo We love how each flower has a meaning, which makes these new costumes even cooler! 18. This weekend is going to be a BUSY one at Magic Kingdom! Main Street U.S.A. Train Station It can be tough to predict how busy a Disney World theme park will be on any given day, but there are a few indicators that the experts know to watch for. For example, holidays or days when many people have work and school off are almost always very busy. Also, if park passes are sold out for Annual Passholders and other select ticket holders, you know that lots of people are planning to visit the parks. On one day this week, both of those are true! Magic Kingdom is completely SOLD OUT on July 4th! Park passes for Annual Passholders and other select ticket holders are totally gone. ©Disney Right now, it’s only Magic Kingdom that’s sold out — all other parks (EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios) still have availability. ©Disney Note that the Pirate and Pixie Annual Pass tiers were already blocked out for the holiday weekend, but passes have sold out for the Incredi-Pass and Sorcerer tiers as well. ©Disney So will this affect your upcoming visit? You might not need a park pass at all to visit. Disney World no longer requires park pass reservations for most guests, though some visitors still need to make one. Here’s a list of who does and doesn’t need a park pass: No Theme Park Reservation Required Date-based 1-day ticket Date-based multi-day ticket Vacation package with date-based tickets Theme Park Reservation Required: Student group tickets Sport and Convention tickets Florida Resident Disney Thrills Ticket Disney Military Salute Ticket Annual Pass All other ticket types not mentioned above Magic Kingdom’s Parking Entrance If you are in the “Theme Park Reservation Required” group and haven’t gotten your pass for July 4th, you’ll need to watch the website and check for new availability to open up. Regardless of your park pass situation, make sure you note that crowds in Magic Kingdom are likely going to be pretty big on the 4th. Lots of people visit to celebrate the holiday, grab some patriotic treats, and watch the themed fireworks show that night. 4th of July Fireworks in Magic Kingdom Over in EPCOT, you can celebrate by visiting Mickey and his pals dressed in patriotic gear at the American Adventure pavilion and watching the “Heartbeat of Freedom” add-on at the end of the EPCOT fireworks show. 4th of July at EPCOT! 19. Something VERY UNEXPECTED happened at Disney World this week. 20. We are constantly visiting both Disney World and Disneyland and one thing is for certain — both resorts are VASTLY different! Disneyland Disney World and Disneyland have a ton of differences. Featuring different accommodations, attractions, dining options, and entertainment, visiting each resort will result in wildly different experiences. In fact, if you’re a Disney World pro planning a trip to Disneyland, there’s one major rule you can almost always ignore! The most notable difference between the two resorts is the size. In fact, Disneyland can fit inside Magic Kingdom’s parking lot! So when you’re planning a trip to Disneyland, it’s safe to say you can throw out the Disney World rule about giving yourself time for transportation — except for one special circumstance. Let us explain… Disneyland Monorail First things first — at Disney World, you have to account for the time that it takes to wait for transportation and the distance it takes to get between the parks and the hotels. Sometimes this can take over 30 minutes. You also have a plethora of transportation options to choose from, such as buses, the Disney Skyliner, water taxis, and the monorail. Skyliner at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Meanwhile, getting around the Disneyland Resort is much simpler. You can take buses and the Disneyland Monorail, but the latter is more for show, as it simply drops off near the Disneyland Hotel in Downtown Disney and Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park. If you’re staying at the hotels on property at the Disneyland Resort or going between the two parks, folks who don’t need assistance traveling will usually get to their destination in a matter of minutes — transportation is hardly required. The Disneyland esplanade — from here, you are feet away from everything Disneyland has to offer! The Disneyland Esplanade is a super convenient courtyard that connects Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. From here, everything is just a few steps away. Downtown Disney’s shops and restaurants are directly connected, you can access the hotels by going through Downtown Disney, and you can quite literally see Disneyland and Disney California Adventure’s gates from each park — no lines or public transportation required. Esplanade Of course, Disneyland’s compactness can be most taken advantage of by guests staying on-property, but if you’re staying nearby you probably should factor in some travel time. Parking lines are usually manageable but can be tricky in the morning and after work hours when the locals show up, and driving around the Los Angeles metropolitan area during rush hour or in the mornings can be nasty. Southern California has a bad traffic reputation, and, unfortunately, it often lives up to the reputation. Traffic could eventually get worse when construction begins for DisneylandForward, a major theme park expansion project aiming to bring new dining, attractions, and more to the area. A line of cars entering the Mickey & Friends parking structure Fortunately, many Good Neighbor hotels offer shuttle service to and from the Parks, and we recommend visiting the Disneyland website to learn more about which hotels might better accommodate your stay. All in all, when compared to Disneyland, transportation should be a non-factor for the most part when you traverse the Disneyland Resort. Often felt as a more laid-back experience altogether than Disney World, you’d be forgiven if you decide to relax a little more and take your time soaking everything in. No Skyliner shutdowns to worry about here! Disneyland Monorail For more Disneyland and Disney World, news, tips, reviews, and more, stay tuned right here at DFB for all the latest! Made You Look! 21. EVERYONE has their own park strategy for Disney World, especially when it comes to rides. Magic Kingdom entrance Many of us are not going to get up early to rope drop, no matter what (we like our sleep). We’ll just get Genie+ (Disney’s paid skip-the-line service) and hit a ride’s Lightning Lane (the exclusive, paid, shorter line) later if it’s available (although with the new Genie+ changes, sleeping in may be a bit more convenient). Others are going to be at the parks BEFORE they open, either using Early Theme Park Entry, or standing in line at the front gates to get in for rope drop — then we’re going to speed walk to our favorite attractions. If you fall into that latter category, there’s one ride in Disney World you won’t be able to rope drop — even if you try. Yes, we are ALL excited about the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom, but if you try to rope drop this ride, well, it’s not going to work. First, Frontierland is not open for Early Theme Park Entry (reserved for people staying in Disney World hotels), so lining up for the ride just really isn’t going to happen. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure However, the biggest reason you can’t rope drop the ride is that there is no standby line. You can’t just get in line — it doesn’t work like that. If you want to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you need to either grab a spot in the virtual queue or book a Lightning Lane selection through Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass). Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Lightning Land and virtual queue line To get a spot in the virtual queue line, you can try twice per day, once at 7AM and again at 1PM. You’ll do so through the My Disney Experience app. Not sure what to do? Be sure to read our Step-By-Step guide on how to use the virtual queue system at Disney World. Recently, virtual queue spots have been going FAST (we’re talking within seconds), so you may have better luck paying for Genie+ and trying to get a Lightning Lane selection that way. ©Disney When Lightning Lane Multi-Pass replaces Genie+ on July 24th, you’ll be able to get Lightning Lane selections in advance of your trip to Disney World. Disney World hotel guests will be able to grab selections as early as seven days before their trip, while everyone else can book advance selections three days before their trip. When this new system starts, that might be the best way to guarantee a ride on Disney World’s newest attraction. New Lightning Lane changes are coming In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 23. Hellloooo, Hollywood! We love the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. You’ve got gorgeous hotels, some great rock ‘n’ roll shows, and a stunning theater. But speaking of rock ‘n’ roll shows, who wants some backstage passes? Disney’s Hollywood Studios Now, we’ve been itching to catch an Aerosmith concert at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for MONTHS. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed since January, and we recently learned that the ride would be opening on July 1st. But thanks to a DFB tip on Instagram, we decided to visit Hollywood Studios EARLY to see what’s rockin’ at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Boy, were we in for a GOOD surprise! Thanks to @aselinrose on Instagram, we were able to confirm that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster opened EARLY at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Today, June 30th, the ride was in a soft opening trial. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is OPEN! When we visited around 2PM, the line was only about 20 minutes long. As you can see, it doesn’t look like much was happening outside, but the queue was open! SURPRISE! Now, when we say soft opening, we mean it. The ride was NOT listed as open on the My Disney Experience app or on the Disney World website. Unless you happened to walk by and see that the ride was open, this secret soft opening was easy to miss! ©Disney The Rock Around the Shop merchandise location at the exit of the ride is open, too! Based on what we noticed, it looks like this shop still sells an assortment of classic Disney World merchandise and a few ride-specific items. (The drumsticks are a CLASSIC Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster souvenir!) The gift shop is open, too! We noticed that every other coaster train was running with people in it, so it seems like Cast Members are making sure the ride is ready to go when it officially opens tomorrow, July 1st. Oh, and ride photos were back, too! Hot tip: the camera is on the right side of the track, and the photo is taken as soon as your coaster launches. Ride photos are working! We are SO happy to see that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is back up and running — we’ve missed this ride! If you’re planning to ride, expect long lines; this tends to be a popular attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. NEWS: A NEW Store Is Open in Magic Kingdom NOW! 24. There are a few key things that set Disney’s cruise ships apart from other cruise lines. One thing is the theming — Kids love meeting their favorite characters, like Mickey and Minnie, on board! Another perk is the destinations, because on certain cruises you get to go to Disney’s private island destinations, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay. But one of the biggest reasons why people choose Disney over other cruise lines is the incredible entertainment! Disney Magic The evening shows on Disney cruise ships are beautifully done. The stories are enchanting, the characters are familiar and fun, and the music is excellent! We recently sailed on the Disney Magic, one of the older Disney cruise ships, and really enjoyed the whole experience, especially those shows. Here’s a FULL LIST of all the evening shows, with our review of each one included! On a Disney cruise ship, there are usually a few different evening shows, so make sure you don’t miss any of them! You can find the itinerary for your cruise on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app — check that itinerary to find out which show is playing on which night. Disney Magic All of the evening shows on the Disney Magic took place in the Walt Disney Theater. Walt Disney Theater Tangled: The Musical Tangled: The Musical is a Broadway-style show based on the 2010 Disney movie Tangled, which tells the story of Rapunzel! Popular characters like Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Mother Gothel, and Maximus all appear in this show. The storyline is the same as the movie: Rapunzel escapes from the confines of her tower with the help of Flynn, and the two must defeat ruffians, thugs, and Mother Gothel to find their happily ever after. Some popular songs from the movie make an appearance, but there are also a few new tunes: “Flower of Gold,” “Wanted Man,” and “When the Princess Returns.” Just wait until you see the puppet used to portray Maximus — it’s amazing! Tangled: The Musical ©DisneyCruiseLine We LOVED this show when we saw it recently! The actor who portrayed Mother Gothel was especially incredible. All of our favorite songs from the movie were included, which was a definite plus. And that Maximus puppet was a huge hit with the audience and definitely hilarious! Twice Charmed Twice Charmed is an original twist on the Cinderella story. The story picks up where the first Cinderella movie left off, answering the question, “What if Cinderella never got a chance to try on the glass slipper, leaving those nasty stepsisters with another chance to get their claws into Prince Charming?” Although many characters from the movie make an appearance (including Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, Gus and Jaq, stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, and Lady Tremaine the evil stepmother), there’s a NEW villain featured in this story: the wicked Fairy Godfather, Franco DiFortunato! DiFortunato aids Cinderella’s wicked stepmother in her villainous plans, transporting everyone back in time “on a mission to destroy the fateful glass slipper before Cinderella can don it.” The music in this show is top-notch. It was created by Alan Zachery and Michael Weiner and combines pop and rock ‘n’ roll elements. Most of the music is original to this stage production, but two songs from the movie are also featured: “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” Twice Charmed ©DisneyCruiseLine This show was by far our favorite of the three! It felt so silly and crazy and we loved the chaotic vibes. It took some inspiration from Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time, but it wasn’t fully that movie. If you’re a stickler for the classics and don’t like remakes or sequels, this show might not be to your taste, but it’s still a fun concept, and it was so well executed by all the performers. We wished we could watch it again on our cruise — We definitely would’ve gone back if it had played another night! Disney Dreams, An Enchanted Classic This show is the most original out of the three, merging several different Disney stories together into one tale. Characters from a few different Disney classics all come together to teach a young girl about the power of her dreams. Anne Marie is a young girl who is having a hard time believing in fairy tales and dreams. As she begins to fall asleep one night, she’s visited by several Disney characters (“A Christmas Carol” style), and each one tells their story — complete with songs — to help her learn how to believe in herself. You’ll see characters from Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Aladdin, and more. Disney Dreams ©DisneyCruiseLine This show was a very sweet note to end our cruise on. The storyline is enchanting, but we wouldn’t say it’s Disney Cruise Line’s best original play. It was exciting to see a bunch of popular characters (including some of our favorites!), but we don’t think it can really compare to Disney Believe, the show that’s on the Disney Dream cruise ship. It’s a fun show — and very fun to sing along with all the Disney songs — but not necessarily a must-see in our opinion. 25. Being in Disney World a lot, particularly in the summer, means we have to keep an eye on the hurricane situation. Rain on Main Street The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th, which means Florida is often in the path of such storms. This year’s hurricane season has been predicted to be more active than previous years, and the first hurricane of the season, Hurricane Beryl, is already barreling its way through the Atlantic toward Barbados as a Category 4 storm. According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Beryl, which was just a tropical storm yesterday, June 29th, is now an “extremely dangerous Category 4” storm that is approaching the windward islands of Barbados. Life-threatening winds and a storm surge are expected to arrive as early as Monday morning. ©NOAA According to CBS News, the hurricane currently has maximum sustained winds of 130mph and is moving west at 21mph. As of 2PM ET, the storm was located at about 310 miles east-southeast of Barbados. Hurricane warnings are in effect in Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines and Tobago. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for Martinique, while a tropical storm watch is in effect in Dominica and Trinidad. ©NOAA Beryl is already breaking records as only one of six hurricanes in Atlantic hurricane history to strengthen from a tropical depression into a major hurricane in just over 40 hours. Before it was upgraded to a Category 4, it was only one of three Category 3 hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic in June. Beryl is only the second named storm of the hurricane season, which could bring 17 to 25 named storms to the Atlantic, with eight to 13 being hurricanes and four to seven being major hurricanes. ©NOAA This weekend, thousands of people are in Barbados for the Twenty20 World Cup Cricket final, cricket’s biggest event, in the capital of Bridgetown. “We need to be ready,” Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley said in a public address late Friday. “You and I know when these things happen, it is better to plan for the worst and pray for the best.” We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the developments this hurricane season and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6 Essentials You Need to Conquer Hurricane Season in Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
