Okay, Disney World, WHAT is going on? Animal Kingdom It’s normal for menus in Disney World to change often, because almost EVERYTHING changes on the daily. But recently, Disney has been CHANGING some of our favorite snacks — the blueberry Mickey waffles in Hollywood Studios, the waffles at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom, BUT NOW our favorite corn has changed, too! The Harambe Fruit Market in Animal Kingdom isn’t known for too much, as they really just have fruit, which you can get at any grocery store. The real hit here was the Grilled Corn on the Cob with African Spices. Harambe Fruit Market This was a tasty, unique treat that we highly recommended. Plus, hey — healthy in Disney World is a pretty big win! However, we have terrible news…THE CORN HAS CHANGED. Menu Previously, the corn could be ordered with or without the spices OR the butter, since it was grilled right there in front of you. Now? The grill is gone entirely and the corn is prepared off-site, brought in, and kept in a warming bag before being given out. The Corn on the Cob BEFORE The corn still tastes fine, but it’s a major downgrade from what it used to be. Plus, that means it’s not customizable anymore, which is also a huge bummer. Now that it’s no longer fresh, you lose some of the juiciness and flavor from that dunk in butter when it’s served to you wrapped in foil after it has been sitting for a while. The spices are there, though — they aren’t as visible because they have broken down in the butter and been soaked into the corn. This is still a good snack when you want something savory instead of sweet — and something different from French fries or house-made chips, but we’re sad it’s not as good as it used to be. The Corn NOW While we were in the area, though, we decided to try out more of the offerings this stand has to offer, including the packaged Watermelon for $3.99. This was a huge win in our book because not only is it a rare find to find it packaged, which is much easier to carry around, but it was so fresh and sweet! If you’re tired of processed foods and need something light and fresh, come grab this! Amazing Watermelon! The packaged Strawberries for $3.99 on the other hand, while we appreciated they were packaged too, they didn’t fare well in the heat. The ripe one was VERY sour, almost like sour candy, while the mushy ones were sweet. …not so amazing Strawberries The Lay’s Chips were just what you’d expect (not necessarily a bad thing, but there are many other exciting snacks in the park). Orange and Chips Overall, is this a spot that you can’t miss? Unfortunately since the corn is now mediocre, this is an easily skippable spot, unless you’re looking for some meh corn or delicious watermelon. Looking for more of our recent reviews? We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but flying to Disney World might have just gotten a bit tougher. Flying can be stressful! When it comes to planning a Disney World vacation, finding the right hotel, mulling over the perfect advanced dining reservations, and securing park tickets can be stressful enough. However, the flying process isn’t always the easiest and unfortunately, for one airline, it’s about to get more restrictive. According to TribLIVE of Western Pennsylvania, Spirit Airlines is about to eliminate daily flights from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport to Orlando International Airport (MCO) this summer/fall. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport Per an official statement, Spirit is making the change in August and September and will only fly from the Westmoreland County airport just outside of Pittsburgh four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. With that said, daily flights are expected to return in October 2024. Orlando International Airport According to a Spirit spokesman, the cutbacks are tied to GTF engine availability or, rather, a lack thereof. That particular engine has been the subject of inspections since mid-2023 and the future flight pullbacks will allow for a two-month inspection and repair window. The Federal Aviation Administration noted that roughly 425 jets in the United States will be affected by additional engine inspections. Orlando International Airport Spirit Airlines has had a rocky go of it as of late. Mishaps, a new bag process that turned into a fiasco, and a blocked merger with JetBlue Airways have plagued the airline and we’re unsure what the future of this budget-friendly travel option looks like. Nevertheless, we’ll be sure to bring you any updates as they develop. ©Spirit Airlines As always, stay tuned right here at DFB for all the latest Disney World travel news, tips, and more! Vacationing in the tropics during summer certainly isn’t anything new — and neither are summer storms. Storm view from aboard Disney Cruise Line The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th, and this year’s season is predicted to be even more active than prior years. In fact, the first Hurricane of the season, Beryl, is already the most powerful one we’ve seen this early in the season in quite a long time. And, after strengthening into a Category 5 storm, Beryl is causing a problem for the Disney Cruise Line. After barreling through Barbados and Grenada as a Category 4 storm over the weekend and into Monday, Hurricane Beryl has intensified and become a Category 5 as it surges through the Caribbean. The storm is expected to eventually make its way to the Gulf of Mexico where it could have some sort of impact on Disney World, but for now, it has already impacted an itinerary for one Disney Cruise Line ship. ©New York Times According to USA Today, Hurricane Beryl has forced Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival Cruise Line to change itineraries due to the storm’s path. Disney Cruise Ship The Disney Fantasy set sail on a week-long cruise from Port Canaveral on June 29th and was originally scheduled to have a stop in Falmouth, Jamaica. Instead, the stop has been replaced with a day at sea. The National Hurricane Center said the center of the storm is expected to “move quickly across the southeastern and central Caribbean Sea today,” passing by Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. The Disney Fantasy Beryl made landfall on Monday and devastated islands in Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a Category 4 storm, with officials reporting one death in each nation. The storm strengthened into a Category 5 after causing “widespread destruction” across Grenada’s three main islands. The storm is expected to make it into the Gulf of Mexico, but experts say it’s “too soon” to predict what could happen if and when it does. Beryl is the first hurricane of the 2024 season and was downgraded before strengthening again into a Category 4 storm. As of Tuesday morning, sustained wind speeds increased to 165 mph — a Category 5 is classified as having wind speeds of 157 mph or higher. Any storm over 111 mph is considered a major storm. ©NOAA For now, we’ll have to wait and see where Hurricane Beryl ends up going after it passes by Jamaica and through the Caribbean — potentially into the Gulf of Mexico. Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by this storm! ©NOAA And, if you happen to be in Disney World during a hurricane and Disney considers it unsafe for guests and Cast Members, you may be asked to shelter in place at your resort. This does not happen often as most of the time, the Disney World area just experiences a bit of rain. But it has happened and is something you want to keep in mind when planning a Disney trip during hurricane season. If you find yourself in this situation, please follow all guidelines from Disney to ensure your safety during your trip. If it is safe to be in the parks, Disney will keep them open with some attractions and restaurants still available. Read more reader tips for riding out a hurricane at Disney World here. Disney World gives…and Disney World takes away. The Waffle Sandwiches are gone! Recently, our beloved waffle sandwiches have been removed from the menu at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom, and we also lost the hush puppies that used to be our favorites at Columbia Harbour House. But today, we have GOOD NEWS, my friends. One of our very favorite meals is Disney World Menu Official again! Let’s head over to Crew’s Cup Lounge in the Yacht Club Hotel — home of one of the very BEST meals we’ve ever had in Disney World — Prime Rib Sliders! Crew’s Cup Lounge Crew’s Cup is kind of tucked away here near Yachtsman Steakhouse, and for that reason, there’s rarely a wait. Crew’s Cup Lounge We love, love, LOVE the Prime Rib Sliders at Crew’s Cup! These sandwiches are served as a trio — on mini-onion rolls with au jus and horseradish cream. Prime Rib Sliders And these little bbs have caused us a considerable amount of STRESS over the past 5 years! We first had them in 2019, and they were one of the BEST meals we have ever had in Disney World. But then after the COVID-related closures in 2020, Crew’s Cup Lounge opened WITHOUT the sliders on the menu! Late last year, we were tipped off that they were BACK. And they were just as glorious as we remembered. But then, they were off the menu again within a couple of weeks. This was turning into quite a sandwich saga! Prime Rib Slider The DFB Team kept checking, though, and while the Prime Rib Sliders were not on the online menu for Crew’s Cup Lounge, they have been consistently available for the past several months. We still worried, though. What did it mean that they weren’t on the online menu? Were they temporary? Would they disappear again? The sliders are BACK! And that brings us to TODAY — a GLORIOUS day in Disney food news! We are SO HAPPY to report that the Prime Rib Sliders are officially BACK on the Disney World online menu! GLORIOUS! We feel like we can finally stand down and relax into the idea that this plate of deliciousness will be around for a long time to come (we’re crossing our fingers it will, at least)! The DFB team is monitoring Disney World menus across the parks and hotels every single day, looking for changes that could affect your planning for your upcoming trip! Flavors of Florida has officially kicked off at Disney Springs! Flavors of Florida is here! During this event, you can stop by over 40 different dining locations to try out bites and sips inspired by Florida. From Citrus Burgers to Key Lime Pie Shakes, there are so many options for unique eats while you are in Disney Springs this summer. The event runs from July 1st through August 11th, and you can try lots of amazing bites and sips that celebrate the flavors of Florida. Additionally, you can also take part in Flavors of Florida Culinary Seminars and Pairing Events to take your experience to the next level. The Culinary Seminars feature iconic chefs that will provide culinary demonstrations for attendees. During the Pairing Events you can enjoy tasty bites paired with alcoholic beverages at various Disney Springs restaurants. Flavors of Florida We recently stopped by Flavors of Florida to try out a bunch of new arrivals, and we are sharing all our thoughts. So, let’s get into it! Amorette’s Patisserie We are starting out at Amorette’s Patisserie to grab the Orange-Hazelnut Petite Gâteau. This treat is layers of orange mousse, orange curd, and honey-orange gel on top of a hazelnut financier. It costs $8. Orange-Hazelnut Petite Gâteau This treat is so pretty and even has a “Flavors of Florida” sign on the dessert This treat is an orange lover’s dream! It has a strong orange flavor that is super zesty. We would describe it as an orange peel flavor and it is prominent. The orange mousse is on the thicker side and reminded us more of a cheesecake. The base of the treat is a thick, soft cookie which held the layers on top well, but didn’t add much of a flavor. Orange-Hazelnut Petite Gâteau Overall, we thought the flavor in this treat was rich and smooth. A great choice if you are looking for a treat that packs a lot of orange flavor! D-Luxe Burger Now we are headed over to D-Luxe Burger to try out the Citrus Burger. This burger is made out of a dressed signature-blend patty, citrus-braised pork belly, grapefruit paloma aïoli, pickled and fried fennel, grapefruit jam, and lettuce. While the description didn’t mention it, this burger also comes with pepper jack cheese. You can get this burger for $14.49. Citrus Burger There were some elements of this burger that we really enjoyed including the signature blend patty, pork belly, and fried fennel. The signature blend patties from D-Luxe Burger are delicious and the addition of pork belly works really well. The fried fennel was a unique topping that was a perfect compliment to the fatty meat. The fennel stayed crispy which added great texture to the burger. We were not huge fans of the grapefruit paloma aïoli. It had big chunks of fruit at it that did not work well with the rest of the components. We think the grapefruit paloma aïoli would have been much better if it had been puréed and had more garlic flavor. Citrus Burger We also tried out the Key Lime Pie Shake which was vanilla gelato blended with Minute Maid Lemonade and graham cracker crumbs topped with whipped cream, graham cracker crumbs, and a lime wedge. The Key Lime Pie Shake costs $7.75. Key Lime Pie Shake We were a bit confused as the only lime flavor in this shake came from the lime wedge. This shake reminded us way more of a lemon icebox pie than a Key lime pie. We really enjoyed the graham cracker crumbs that were blended in as they really gave the shake a pie taste. However, it was missing a lot of the flavors of a Key lime pie including the tangy lime and sweetened condensed milk flavor. The shake was not very tart and had a lemon flavor to it instead of lime. If you are wanting more of a frosted lemonade flavor, you will likely enjoy this treat. Earl of Sandwich Next we are headed to Earl of Sandwich to try out the Datil Pepper Cuban Sandwich. This sandwich includes roasted carnitas, ham, Swiss cheese, sweet pickles, and datil pepper aïoli and costs $8.99. Datil Pepper Cuban Sandwich This Cuban was full of both sweet and spicy flavors! There was a variety of flavors that came together really well. We thought the roasted carnitas were cooked perfectly and were juicy against the sweet pickles. The datil pepper aïoli added so much great flavor to this sandwich and it has a slight kick to it as well. Datil Pepper Cuban Sandwich The ham is thinly sliced, but still noticeable as you get a good portion of it. The melted Swiss cheese was the icing on the cake and pulled all of the flavors together perfectly! Overall, we really enjoyed this sandwich and we would definitely head back to Earl of Sandwich for another one. Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew Now we are moving onto Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew. We grabbed the Strawberry Shortcake Donut which is a glazed donut filled with fresh strawberries and whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar. You can get this donut for $6.50. Strawberry Shortcake Donut This donut is jam-packed with whipped cream and strawberry glaze. We enjoyed that the donut itself was not overly sweet, which was a great contrast to the sweet glaze on the fruit. This donut is definitely on the messy side, but is filled with lots of goodness. While we enjoyed this treat, it wasn’t anything special and we probably wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for it. Strawberry Shortcake Donut We also grabbed the Italian-Style Strawberry Soda which is made with fresh strawberries and strawberry syrup topped with bubbly soda water and served over ice. You can get this drink for $5.50. Italian-Style Strawberry Soda This drink was slightly sweet and a great drink to cool down with. It is bubbly with a good strawberry flavor to the drink. We didn’t consider this a super stand-out drink, but it was tasty without feeling heavy. If you happen to be by Everglazed and need a break and something to drink, this could be a great option. Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop Next up, we are headed over to Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop to grab the Key Lime Pie Shake. This shake is vanilla ice cream blended with Key lime juice and graham cracker and topped with whipped cream, green sprinkles, and crushed graham crackers for $12.95. Key Lime Pie Shake This shake is thiiicckk and reminded us exactly of eating a slice of Key lime pie. There was lots of tartness in this shake, so if you are looking for a sweeter option you may want to look elsewhere. In fact, with the addition of the lime juice we would almost say that this shake is sour. Key Lime Pie Shake However, we think this is a perfect shake if you are truly wanting a shake with all the Key lime pie flavors. The graham crackers are blended in and add the perfect flavor, along with lots of Key lime. This shake lives up to its name and we really enjoyed it! Gideon’s Bakehouse Let’s head over to Gideon’s Bakehouse to try the Key Lime Pie Cake Bar. The cake bar is soft Key lime cake covered in cream cheese buttercream, Key lime curd, and graham cracker crumble fully dipped in premium chocolate. You can pick up this treat for $6. Key Lime Pie Cake Bar This bar is full of chocolate and lime flavor. It is sweet, tangy, and salty all rolled up into a bar. The chocolate is rich and works really well with the tart Key lime flavor. The addition of the cream cheese buttercream and graham cracker crumble really brings this whole treat together. Key Lime Pie Cake Bar This treat is soft and it does melt quickly so be prepared to eat it fast. However, we found that we enjoyed this treat even more when the chocolate started melting. We thought this treat was amazing and the flavors all work so well together. Definitely one of our favorite treats we tried! Swirls on the Water Now onto Swirls on the Water. We are grabbing a few items here including The Key Lime Pie Sundae. This sundae is DOLE Whip Lime in a waffle bowl topped with whipped cream and a lime garnish. You can get this treat for $6.49. The Key Lime Pie Sundae This sundae is huge and you could easily share it with others. It is a great deal for the price and has plenty of lime flavor. The lime DOLE Whip is tart and light, but we really wished there were more graham crackers on top. We had a hard time tasting them. The waffle bowl adds a great crunch though. The Key Lime Pie Sundae Next up is the Orange Bird Cone which is DOLE Whip Orange in an orange cone topped with orange crisp pearls and an Orange Bird garnish. You can get this treat for $6.49. The DOLE Whip has lots of orange flavor and the we enjoyed the added crunch from the crisp pearls. The waffle cone is also orange flavored and rimmed with white chocolate. We love all the orange flavor is this treat and we think it is a great size for the price. Orange Bird Cone Finally, we also tried the Orange Bird Float. This float is DOLE Whip Orange and Watermelon swirl with Fanta Orange in a souvenir cup and costs $11.49. Orange Bird Float Alright, orange and watermelon may be our new favorite combination of DOLE Whip. The tartness of the watermelon works wonderfully with the sweetness of the orange. When these two flavors melted into the Fanta Orange it was just fantastic. We definitely enjoyed this float the most of all the items we tried at Swirls on the Water, however we think it is a bit overpriced. Vivoli il Gelato Next up we are headed to Vivoli il Gelato for two treats. We are starting with the Key Lime Tiramisu which is layers of mascarpone cream and lady fingers soaked in a sweet key lime sauce. You can get this treat for $10. We were a bit disappointed in this treat as it reminded us more of a banana pudding tiramisu. It didn’t have any tartness and was just sweet. The cream tasted like it had honey mixed in and we could have easily been convinced this was banana flavored. The cake was fine, but it wasn’t anything that stood out to us. We had a really hard time tasting any sort of key lime flavor in this treat. Key Lime Tiramisu We all tried the Mango Spritz which is made with mango sorbetto, Sprite, and prosecco. You can get the Mango Spritz for $13. The mango gelato tasted like a freshly peeled mango. We were so impressed with how fresh it tasted and the amount of mango flavor in it. The combination of Sprite and Prosecco made this drink super fizzy and refreshing. Mango Spritz While the mango gelato had great mango flavor, there wasn’t anything too special about this drink. We didn’t think it was worth the price, but it is still a tasty drink to sip on while you are at Disney Springs. eet by Maneet Chauhan Finally, we are making our way to eet by Maneet Chauhan for the Sunny Days cocktail. This cocktail is whipped vodka and orange cream with an orange ice pop for $15.95. You can also get this cocktail 50% off during happy hour from 2PM-5PM and 9PM-11PM daily! Sunny Days This cocktail is really two treats in one and it is very tasty! The cocktail slush has a great creamsicle taste without feeling heavy like a creamsicle shake. The drink is smooth and really easy to drink, and you will likely forget you are even drinking alcohol. However, there is definitely vodka in this drink! Sunny Days Ice Pop We think this cocktail is a perfect way to cool-down while you are exploring Disney Springs, and it is a great deal if you can grab it during happy hour. It is so much fun to eat the popsicle while you are enjoying the drink, and it is really refreshing. There are over 40 dining locations participating in Flavors of Florida, so there really is something for everyone. You can check out the event until August 11th! There’s one thing you’ll find on Disney cruise ships that you WON’T find in Disney World: a TON of FREE food! ©Disney Disney cruises are all-inclusive, meaning the cost for your cruise vacation includes not only your stateroom but also your meals and most activities on board. But there are still some things that will cost EXTRA, so make sure you consider them when planning your budget! Here’s a list of six things that will cost extra on Disney’s NEW Treasure cruise ship. The new Disney Treasure cruise ship is a Wish-class ship that will set sail on its maiden voyage in December 2024. It will be the sixth ship in Disney’s fleet and has a theme inspired by “Walt Disney’s lifelong love of adventure.” According to Disney executive Josh D’Amaro, the Treasure’s design is “inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace,” drawing artistic inspiration from Asia, Africa, and even Aladdin’s Agrabah. ©Disney Just like Disney’s other cruise ships, the Treasure will have lots of restaurants and activities on board. Assuming the ship has a similar dining plan as the rest of Disney’s ships, the food at the rotational dining restaurants and at various quick service locations on board will be included in the cost of your trip. The rotational dining restaurants on board include Plaza de Coco, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923. There will also be several counter-service restaurants, like Marceline Market. Plaza de Coco ©Disney However, some food on board the Treasure will likely NOT be included in the cost of your vacation. Again, we’re making these assumptions based on how things work on Disney’s other five cruise ships. Here’s a list of some eats that are most likely going to cost extra. Drinks and Eats at the Lounges Food and drinks that you get at the lounges on board will probably cost extra. But you still might want to consider paying these locations a visit because there are some INCREDIBLE-sounding lounges coming to the Treasure. The Haunted Mansion Parlor One that we’re super excited to visit is The Haunted Mansion Parlor. In this space, “foolish mortals will sip spirited craft cocktails among 999 happy haunts for the first time.” ©Disney The story of this lounge is based on a jovial captain who entered the ghostly realm after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé. You’ll get to see characters from the classic Haunted Mansion attraction around the lounge, and Disney Imagineering has promised “an ever-escalating anthology of illusions that immerses guests into the mysterious lore of the Haunted Mansion.” ©Disney Sounds amazing, right? At this lounge, you can pay extra to get cocktails and eats. During a sneak peek, Disney shared that there will be a zero-proof cocktail with blood orange and sour cherry flavors called Sympathetic Libations. ©Disney There will be an ube-flavored drink called The Ghoulish Delight that combines sweetness and nuttiness with ube fudge, oat milk, and tapioca pearls. Plus, you can grab a tequila-based cocktail that’s a spooky twist on a classic margarita, which will contain a secret message revealed in black light. Three BIG Surprises Coming to Disney’s Haunted Mansion Parlor Skipper Society If you’re a fan of the Jungle Cruise attraction, you’ll want to pay the Skipper Society lounge a visit! ©Disney The lounge will have familiar music based on the ride and will include spiels from Jungle Cruise attractions around the world. ©Disney In this “elevated, yet playful atmosphere,” you can grab drinks and light snacks. The lounge is going to be located just off the Grand Hall of the Treasure. Get more details about this lounge here! Periscope Pub Another themed lounge on the Treasure is the Periscope Pub, which is inspired by both the Disney movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Disney Parks attraction that was open in Disney World from 1971 to 1994. ©Disney The atmosphere is inspired by a submarine with “19th-century steampunk influences.” There will be “a mysterious window into the mythical depths of the uncharted oceans” spanning the full ceiling! ©Disney Head to the Periscope Pub for craft brews, light snacks, sports on the TVs, and some nods to a certain giant squid. Adult-Exclusive Restaurants Like the other Disney cruise ships, the Treasure will have a few adult-only restaurants on board. These are not part of the rotational dining list and they do cost extra if you choose to dine there. You will need reservations at most of these spots, so make sure to get those before your trip! There will be three Beauty and the Beast-inspired adult-only dining areas on the Treasure (just like on the Wish): The Rose, Palo Steakhouse, and Enchanté. ©Disney The Rose is a lounge where you can sip on a before- or after-dinner cocktail or choose from a collection of wines and liquors. ©Disney Palo Steakhouse has — you guessed it — steak, with decor inspired by Cogsworth. Concept art of Palo on the Disney Treasure©Disney Enchanté is the most elegant and elevated dining experience on the Treasure, with a gourmet menu created by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement. ©Disney The restaurant is inspired by Lumière. Read our review of Enchanté here! Treats at Jumbeaux’s Sweets In case you get sick of the free soft-serve ice cream and want a different sweet treat, you can head to Jumbeaux’s Sweets to find a candy shop themed to Disney’s Zootopia movie! ©Disney The shop will feature Victorian-style architecture and will house sculptures of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from the movie. ©Disney You can get more than 20 flavors of handmade gelato, 16 flavors of ice cream and sorbets, specialty treats, candies, and more at this location. These cost extra and are not included in the cost of your vacation. Learn more about this sweets shop here! Coffee at HeiHei Café and Jade Cricket Café Looking for a little caffeinated boost during your trip? Head over to Heihei Café! This is a walk-up cafe just off the Grand Hall that’s themed to the Disney film Moana where you can purchase coffee or tea. But that’s not the only option if you’re looking for a drink: You can also visit the Jade Cricket Café, inspired by Mulan! At this café, you’ll find a jade sculpture paying tribute to Cri-Kee. Popcorn and Treats for the Shows One more place where food and drinks will cost extra is at the concession stand near the theater. You’re welcome to bring popcorn, candy, and drinks into the theater when you go to each evening’s show, but you have to pay extra for it. ©DisneyCruiseLine Every Disney cruise ship has a Walt Disney Theatre, which is home to Broadway-style shows. On the Treasure, those shows will be Beauty and the Beast, Disney Seas the Adventure, and Disney: The Tale of Moana. Learn more about the new Moana show here! But it’s not just some food that will cost extra. There are a few activities that are not included that you should know about! Disney cruise ships have many activities that are free for guests to take part in. There are lots of pools to visit, you can head to trivia and game nights, and don’t forget to attend various classes where you can learn to draw Disney characters or make folded towel animals! But not all activities are free: Any treatments you want to get at the Senses Spa will likely cost extra. Spa Treatments Senses Spa on the Treasure will have spa and beauty treatments, and these are not included in the cost of your vacation. The spa will have private treatment rooms, spa villas, and steam and aromatherapy rooms. ©Disney Note that the Senses Fitness Center is free to use, so you can take advantage of the exercise equipment there at no additional cost. Senses Fitness Haircuts and other treatments at Hook’s Barbery and the Untangled Salon also cost extra. Both locations offer haircuts, styling, and nail care. It’s certainly no secret that we love food here at DFB — we are Disney FOOD Blog, at the end of the day. McDonald’s But, it isn’t just Disney snacks and treats that tickle our fancy. In fact, some might say we love McDonald’s almost as much as we love Disney, too. A while back, McDonald’s slid into our DMs to tell us about some limited-time offerings and then disappeared like that one person you went on a date with who never called you again. Except this time, you got a text back. We got a first text that read, “special message incoming from the halls of jujutsu high” followed by a photo and the announcement, “special grade garlic sauce out officially on 7.9 exclusively on the app.” ©McDonald’s Now, we’re definitely not detectives, but judging by these texts it sounds like as of July 9th, there will be a new “special grade garlic sauce” rolling out at McDonald’s stores. But, it must be ordered on the McDonald’s app! We’re not too sure what this garlic sauce will taste like, but we’re excited about it either way. No two Disney World trips are the same. Whether the changes are big or small, the parks have come a long way since Magic Kingdom first opened over 50 years ago. Magic Kingdom is about to get bigger When Walt Disney dreamt up Disneyland and later Disney World, he had a very specific vision of what he wanted them to look like — and the easiest way to bring his vision to life was by implementing very specific rules to match. Over the years, those rules have been relaxed a bit and we’re taking a look at some of them. It takes a lot of work to keep Disney World running smoothly, and both visitors and Cast Members have to follow specific rules in order to keep Walt Disney’s vision alive. But, certain rules have been amended or abolished altogether and we’re taking a look at a few of the biggest ones! Drinkin’ at Disney Magic Kingdom at Disney World (like Disneyland Park) has historically been a “dry park,” meaning this park didn’t serve alcoholic beverages at all for decades after it first opened in 1971. Later, as Disney World began adding more parks, those alcohol rules were relaxed a bit, with boozy beverages being available at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Magic Kingdom Over time, there was a small change made to this rule. When Be Our Guest restaurant first opened in 2012, it was the first Magic Kingdom restaurant to offer an alcoholic beverage along with dinner. Slowly, we’ve seen other table-service restaurants around Magic Kingdom follow suit in more recent years — but those are the only places in Magic Kingdom where you’ll find alcohol. While you can grab a beer or a drink from a quick service spot or snack stand at the other Disney World parks, table-service restaurants are the only place you can get booze in Magic Kingdom — for now. The BEST Drinks (Alcoholic and Nonalcoholic!) at Disney World Tattooed and Employed When you walk around Disney World these days, keep an eye out for Cast Members with Disney-themed (and other cool) tattoos! But, for years, Disney World Cast Members were not permitted to have any visible tattoos at all. This is actually quite a recent change! Back in 2021, Disney relaxed its policy to allow visible tattoos on Cast Members. New Look for Cast Members There are still a few rules Cast Members have to follow when it comes to tattoos, though. First, they cannot have tattoos on their face, head, or neck. They are allowed tattoos in other visible places as long as the tattoo is no larger than the Cast Member’s hand and is family-friendly. They cannot have tattoos that depict nudity, offensive or inappropriate language or images, or violate any of Disney’s company policies. 4 Major Body Modification Rules Disney Cast Members Must Still Obey Dress Code Diaries Believe it or not, Disney World has a dress code — and not just for Cast Members! Visitors have to follow certain rules as well. The official Disney website says the following are “inappropriate”: clothing with objectionable language or material, excessively torn clothing, clothing that exposes a little too much skin for a family-friendly environment, objectionable tattoos, and skirts or dresses that drag on the ground. Magic Kingdom The one rule we’ve seen Disney be a little bit more lax about lately is the “clothing that exposes a little too much skin for a family-friendly environment.” In this day and age, it’s becoming much more normal to see crop tops and bralettes worn as tops — especially in a hot, outdoor environment like Disney World. From what we’ve seen, as long as all the important bits are covered and you’re wearing more than a bathing suit — you should be good to go, but your mileage may vary! Spaceship Earth Ultimately, Disney has to try and keep up with the times and what the general public deems appropriate, and in this case, they’ve updated their rules to match! Things are always changing around Disney World, but we’re keeping up with it all so you can be prepared for your next visit! Calling all theatre buffs — a NEW Disney stage show is set to premiere in 2025! ©Disney We report on new shows and entertainment coming to the Disney Parks all the time, but it’s not every day that Disney announces a brand new stage show coming to the theatre — and one based on a beloved ’90s animated classic! Fans of the Disney animated movie Hercules are in for a treat as a stage adaptation is set to premiere next summer! Per Disney on Stage, Hercules: The Heroic New Musical is coming to London in the summer of 2025! ©Disney The Disney Theatrical Group confirmed the stage production will be directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London’s West End. Featuring music and lyrics by Alan Menken and David Zippel, Hercules will also have “a brand-new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah and co-choreography by Tanisha Scott.” This new musical is inspired by the 1997 Academy Award-nominated film of the same name from Walt Disney Studios. Hey, Herc! To tease the production, Disney on Stage promoted a 2023 rendition of “Go the Distance” and “Zero to Hero” from that year’s Royal Variety Performance. The act was featured in the Disney on Stage medley and included the titular characters and the muses. You can check out the video below! Magical Disney Showcase at the 2023 Royal Variety PerformanceAs for casting and other detailed information, not much more has been released yet, but you can follow along via the official Disney on Stage website. Hercules joins other Disney productions currently in the UK, including The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen: The West End Musical, which is currently playing at Hercules‘ new home at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. What if we told you that there was one place in Disney World that’s giving us major high school vibes? EPCOT We’ll give you a hint — it’s in EPCOT, it’s not a ride or a food location, BUT it IS considered an attraction. This next one will give it away, so be ready: It’s new and the majority of Disney World fans hate it. YEP, it’s CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza. In fact, we’ll include Celebration Gardens in here too for a specific reason we’ll explain later, but these new areas give us MAJOR high school vibes. We want you to think back to your high school. All schools look quite different from each other, but if there’s one thing most of them all have, it’s a cafeteria. CommuniCore Hall When you walk into CommuniCore Hall, or take a look at the photo below, just look around for a second and you’ll see it…IT LOOKS LIKE A HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA! It has those white shiny floors, the tables and chairs spread around, a few things hanging on the walls — it literally feels like we just walked from our history class to eat lunch at a way-too-early time of day. CommuniCore Hall CommuniCore Plaza may look like a courtyard to those of you who went to fancy schools, but we also think that Celebration Gardens gives us courtyard vibes too. The Walt the Dreamer statue is like your school’s mascot statue, or an important landmark of some kind, there’s random seating everywhere that kinda has a design. You’ll probably get lost the first time you walk through it and it’ll take you a few tries to really find your way around — you see where we’re going with this? Walt The Dreamer in EPCOT CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are planned to be used as new flex spaces for EPCOT’s festivals, and in the meantime, you can catch the new ¡Celebración Encanto! show on the CommuniCore Plaza stage. This means we aren’t seeing what this space can REALLY look like during a festival, and for Disney’s sake, we hope it transforms BIG time. CommuniCore Plaza You see, the issue is, most Disney fans HATE the way CommuniCore Hall and Plaza look and are angry it took so many years to create it. Many feel it doesn’t fit with EPCOT’s theme, that it’s plain and boring, and are angry CommuniCore Plaza is mostly out in the sun with little to no seating. CommuniCore Plaza For now, this high school cafeteria vibe is what we’re stuck with, but we’re hoping to see it change when EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival begins on August 29th! Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news! Check out the concept art for CommuniCore vs. what we actually got Want MORE Details About EPCOT’s MASSIVE Transformation? One kind of guest is seeing MASSIVE benefits from Disney’s new system. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa On June 25th Disney shocked us all by announcing a massive overhaul to their Genie+ skip-the-line system. Beginning on July 24th, a new Lightning Lane system that blends features the “current services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the choice to plan ahead and removing the hassle of planning during their vacation” will debut. This new service comes with new nomenclature, as Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane are changing to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass respectively. In the new system, Lightning Lane Multi Pass will allow you to make 3 Lightning Lane selections in a specific Disney World theme park in advance of your visit, while Lightning Lane Single Pass purchases will allow you to “secure a time to ride one of (Disney’s) most highly demanded attractions” for an additional charge in advance. However, just how far in advance will depend on what kind of guest you are. According to Disney, “Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance.” In other words, if you’re saying at a Disney hotel, you have a FOUR DAY head start on making both Multi Pass and Single Lightning Lane reservations! While we assume that Disney will have separate “pools” of reservations for the 7 day and 3 day window, this is still a massive advantage for hotel guests in ensuring that they’l be able to score the Lightning Lanes they want for their trip. ©Disney Disney hotel guests have long had access to perks unavailable to others guests, including access to Disney Transportation and early and late park hours (though, some hotel perks have been dwindling in recent years). However, this is arguably the biggest hotel perk in Disney World history from a standpoint of actual effect on a full park day. To the point where it may sway those planning on staying off property to at least consider staying at a Disney hotel. Pop Century With the debut of Disney’s surprise new Lightning Lane system just a month away, we’re trying to learn all we can about it – – including these kind of massive perks available to Disney hotel guests – – as quickly as possible. Keeping an eye on hurricane season can be incredibly important for upcoming summer Disney World trips. Rainy Day at Animal Kingdom The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th, and it’s a pretty safe bet that at least one storm will have Florida in its path at one time or another. This year’s season is predicted to be even more active than prior years, and we have a new update on Hurricane Beryl, the first storm of the season. After barreling through Barbados and Grenada as a Category 4 storm over the weekend and into Monday, Hurricane Beryl has intensified and become a Category 5 as it surges through the Caribbean. But, the National Hurricane Center expects Beryl to weaken on Tuesday and remain a Category 3 storm, according to The New York Times. ©New York Times It is the earliest Atlantic Category 5 hurricane on record, said Colorado State University meteorologist Philip Klotzbach, who specializes in tropical cyclones. Beryl made landfall on Monday and devastated islands in Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a Category 4 storm, with officials reporting one death in each nation. The storm strengthened into a Category 5 after causing “widespread destruction” across Grenada’s three main islands. ©NOAA In addition to the wind and rain damage, Hurricane Beryl is also expected to raise water levels and cause a storm surge of up to five feet along the coast of Jamaica as the storm passes by it on Wednesday, July 3rd. Flash flooding is also a potential concern with three to six inches of rain predicted. ©NOAA The storm is expected to make it into the Gulf of Mexico, but experts say it’s “too soon” to predict what could happen if and when it does. For now, we’ll have to wait and see where Hurricane Beryl ends up going after it passes by Jamaica and through the Caribbean — potentially into the Gulf of Mexico. We just stayed at the BIGGEST Marriott hotel in the WORLD. And there was a MERMAID PARTY. Also, a WATER PARK. If that doesn’t grab your attention, I’m really not sure what will. Orlando World Center Marriott Hotel Marriott recently invited us to stay at the Orlando World Center Marriott, which, as we mentioned, is the largest Marriott hotel in the world with over 2,000 guest rooms and suites. It boasts a water park (with seven water slides and a lazy river), another pool area, a spa, eight restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, and more. Come with us to check it all out! Location The Orlando World Center Marriott is located at 8701 World Center Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32821. It’s just a 15-minute drive to Magic Kingdom and about 10 minutes away from Disney Springs. The location is marked in red in the bottom, righthand corner of this map, and you can see several Disney World landmarks just to the left, across I-4. ©Google Maps Price and Other Details Room prices depend on which kind of room and view you choose. We checked pricing on a couple of weekdays in August (which should be a less busy time) and also on a weekend in December (which should be a very busy time). On each search, the room prices were the same. It’s possible that surge pricing does happen sometimes, but based on our research, it doesn’t appear to change the prices very much. The Hotel We found the following prices: $320/night for a room with one king bed $330/night for a room with two queen beds $340-$350/night for rooms with water park views $476/night for a larger room with two queen beds and one sofa bed $933/night for an Ambassador Suite with two queen beds, a sofa bed, and pool/laser show views There is a resort fee of $47 per night added on to every room (plus taxes). The resort fee is for the following amenities: Daily admission to River Falls Water Park for up to four guests Daily scheduled shuttle service to Disney Parks for up to four guests Enhanced in-room wireless internet for up to six devices Nightly scheduled shuttle service to Disney Springs for up to four guests Daily bag of range balls and rental clubs for use at the driving range based on availability World Center Marriott Hotel Note that check-in is at 4PM and check-out is at 11AM. The hotel and property are smoke-free, and pets are not allowed. Parking costs $32 per day, and valet is $50 per day. There are electric car charging stations available. Amenities River Falls Waterpark The biggest perk is definitely the huge water park! This park has seven water slides… ©Marriott …a lazy river that’s 575 feet long… ©Marriott …and a 400,000-gallon lagoon pool. Water park There’s also a dedicated kid’s zone with fountains and other activities. ©Marriott The park boasts “calming waterfalls, jumbo TVs, poolside activities, and perfectly heated water.” Falls Pool Oasis But there’s ANOTHER pool, too! The Falls Pool Oasis is a lagoon-style heated pool that has a zero entry area and sun shelves along the edges. ©Marriott There are even more slides here, including a 90-foot speed slide and two 200-foot twisting slides. Mermaids & Glo Party One of the most unique perks of this hotel is its mermaid parties! These happen seasonally (check the hotel’s events page to find out when they will occur next). Mermaid Elle and her friends join guests for a swim and dance glow party. There’s special decor, bubble machines, and themed snacks and drinks. Glow party We got a chance to meet Mermaid Elle when we visited! Mermaid! Then, she spent some time with the guests in the pool. Mermaids The kids loved it! Nightly Laser Light Show Have you ever stayed at a hotel that has a LASER SHOW? Yeah, we hadn’t either. If you have a room with a Laser Show View, you can watch it from your balcony, or you can head down to the pool area to view it. ©Marriott The show lasts for 10 minutes and features laser patterns set to music. The Spa There’s a full-service spa as well! ©Marriott Treatments include massages, waxing, skincare, and manicures/pedicures. Fitness Center There’s a great fitness center at this hotel, too. It’s 4,000 sq feet and is stocked with 21 cardio machines, free weights, and other equipment. ©Marriott There are also lockers, water, and towels provided for guests. If you don’t want to use a treadmill, you can head out to run or walk on the hotel’s 1.5-mile track. Hawk’s Landing Golf Club Golfers will love Hawk’s Landing Golf Club, which is an 18-hole course. ©Marriott There’s also a driving range, pro shop, and instruction offered at the Orlando Golf Academy. Shuttle Service If you drove to the hotel, you can just hop in your car and head to Disney World whenever you like. However, if you flew in and did not rent a car (or you just don’t feel like driving), you can take advantage of the hotel’s shuttle service, which goes to all four Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs. This is included in your resort fee. You can reserve your transportation up to three days before your visit. Here are some other amenities offered: Dry Cleaning Service Laundry Wake up Calls Daily Housekeeping Mobile Key Digital Check In Food There are eight restaurants at this hotel! Here’s a quick overview of each one: Mikado Japanese Steak House — The chefs here will prepare an authentic Japanese meal on a hibachi grill in front of you! ©Marriott Siro Urban Italian Kitchen — This is described as a “funky, creative restaurant” with “classic dishes served with a unique flair.” Siro Urban Italian Kitchen Latitude & Longitude — This restaurant boasts “simple Southern dining with a Florida flair” High Velocity — This is a sports bar that has “beers, burgers, wings, and more.” It’s a great place to catch the game while you’re on vacation. ALERT: 5 (!!!) Disney Closures Begin on July 8th
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Bad news, Disney fans. Getting around Disneyland Resort might look a little different soon. Why? There are several big closures and refurbishments happening soon, and they may impact your trip. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disneyland If you’re planning a trip to Disneyland Resort this July, you might want to be aware of these upcoming closures. There’s nothing worse than being caught off guard during your vacation! Now, let’s dive in and see what’s changing. First, a handy pathway that connects two parts of Disneyland will be closed soon. In fact, Disney shared that the bridge connecting New Orleans Square with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will close starting July 8th, 2024. This is only a temporary closure, and you can still access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge via the Frontierland entrance. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Starting July 8th, you’ll have one less spot to dine! Hungry Bear Restaurant will temporarily close for “kitchen refurbishments,” so you won’t be able to get any chicken tenders or burgers from this spot. That said, you can get similar food at nearby spots like Stage Door Café and Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. Hungry Bear Restaurant While the restaurant is closed, the Hungry Bear restrooms will also be unavailable. Luckily, there are plenty of nearby restrooms, but the closest option is located in Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Hungry Bear Restaurant Paddles down, people! Davey Crockett’s Explorer Canoes will also close starting July 8th, 2024. The closure is due to adjacent construction. Davy Crockett’s Canoes Finally, we have one more closure to point out. If you were hoping to grab a healthy snack from the Critter Country Fruit Cart, you’ll be out of luck starting July 8th. This cart is closing due to its location in Critter Country. Luckily, Disneyland has plenty of other fruit carts around the park, so all hope is not lost! Critter Country Wow, it looks like July 8th will be a busy day in terms of closures and construction at Disneyland! Oh, and don’t forget — starting in August, two other attractions will close at Disneyland Park, including the Disneyland Railroad and Space Mountain. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. The One Disney World Rule That Does NOT Apply to Disneyland Want to Learn More About Disneyland?
