We love Figment and are enjoying all the new representation he is getting in the parks! Hey Figment! Besides Journey Into Imagination with Figment (which needs a serious update), we love that Disney recently added a Figment meet-and-greet in the Imagination Pavailion’s ImageWorks! Figment now even has his section at the newly re-opened and re-imagined Ever After store in Disney Springs. Although Figment is quite a lovable fellow, we don’t like to ride his attraction for this awkward reason. Journey Into Imagination With Figment is located in EPCOT’s Imagination Pavilion. As you receive a tour of the Imagination Institute, Figment adds his own flair to the tour and, at one point, even takes over for Dr. Nigel Channing. While you may think this is an adorable slow-moving dark ride, elements of this attraction get a little too close to us. Journey Into Imagination with Figment While we love Figment, we don’t like how this ride gets all up in our business. When the tour starts, we are just met with some light messing around from Figment; it’s nothing too major. Journey Into Imagination with Figment The problem starts when you arrive at the Smell Labs. Chances are, if you have ridden the attraction and know what is coming, you will probably hold your breath. We know what is coming next! As a not-so-nice treat, Figment decides to land on the skunk smell and the attraction actually sprays out a skunk scent. No thanks! No one wants to have to smell skunky Figment while enjoying an attraction. We are all for using smells throughout the park, but we would rather smell popcorn and delicious baked goods while walking down Main Street or the refreshing scent of Fiji on Soarin’ Around the World in the Land Pavilion. Even better yet, we would rather smell Tiana’s fresh beignets in the new queue of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom. Disney is Obsessed with Your Nose, Here is How! Soarin’ Around the World Once Figment decides to take over the tour, we get to take a tour of his upside-down house, and we brace ourselves for what is inevitable. Journey into Imagination with Figment At the end of the attraction, we are glad that Nigel Channing makes up with Figment! Dr. Nigel Channing ends the tour with a kind message, and when you think the tour is over, Figment has one more surprise for us! Journey into Imagination with Figment We don’t like it when Figment tells us that “imagination is a blast” and then proceeds to blast air in our faces. We can feel the air coming from this picture No matter how many times we ride this ride and know that the blast of air is coming, we still jump because it spooks us. It is even worse for the people who are not expecting it. Imagination is a BLAST, literally If this attraction ever gets an update, we hope that certain show elements are rethought out, preferably ones that do not get all up in our space. Journey into Imagination with Figment Due to this, we try to avoid riding Journey Into Imagination with Figment, but sometimes we can’t help ourselves when the line is only five minutes! The Haunted Mansion That’s why we’re always on the hunt for the best cups and tumblers so you can quench your thirst in style — and Starbucks makes some of our favorites. But, we think this item might just end up selling out, so grab it while you can! Shop the Haunted Mansion Starbucks Tumbler NOW! The Haunted Mansion Starbucks Tumbler is officially online NOW! The design is inspired by the uniforms worn by the attraction’s ghost hosts and features a ”The Haunted Mansion” plaque on one side and the Starbucks logo on the other. ©Disney It’s made of stainless steel and is designed for cold drinks only — so we don’t recommend putting any hot beverages in this one! We love the uniform-inspired design and matching straw that will make for easy hydrating, which is an absolute necessity whether you’re at the parks or not this summer! ©Disney Each tumbler holds 26 ounces of liquid and is not dishwasher or microwave-safe, so it’s hand washing only for this guy! There is a silicone ring to help secure the lid and prevent spills, but it’s not quite spill-proof thanks to the straw, so that’s something to keep in mind as well. Planning and perfectly executing a Disney World vacation isn’t for the faint of heart. Things can get even more complicated when you add in a heat advisory for Central Florida. ©Disney We’re experts on ways (and products) to help you keep cool in the parks on any given day, and you might find yourself putting those suggestions to the test when the heat index rises. Central Florida’s latest severe weather advisory is currently in effect and we’re breaking down everything you need to know about the warning. According to reports from the Orlando Sentinel and local news channel WFTV 9, Central Florida visitors and locals could be feeling the burn on Monday, July 8th. Multiple news outlets have reported the area is under a heat advisory beginning at 11AM and lasting through 6PM. ©Orlando Sentinel/ Weather.gov While Florida is no stranger to rising temps and humidity in the summer, it’s worth noting that usually the “feels like” temperature isn’t as high as it’s anticipated to be during this heat advisory. Under the advisory, those choosing to be out and about during the hottest hour of the day could risk experiencing heat index values upwards of 106 to 112 degrees. Actual temperature highs are expected to be in the low- to mid-90s for most of the area; however, as you can see, Orlando and its surrounding area are anticipating the highest temps. ©WFTV 9 Because of this, meteorologists are urging those out during these hours to enjoy the sun and heat with extreme caution. If you’re planning to be out, we strongly recommend staying as hydrated as possible (don’t get stingy on the water bottle refills or feel like you’re overusing Disney World’s free water policy), taking frequent breaks, and staying in air-conditioned rooms as much as possible. Get some water with your Starbucks! It’s also recommended to keep out of the sun as much as possible and make sure you’re applying sunscreen properly and frequently. You should plan to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. News reports are also suggesting holding off on strenuous outdoor activities until after the heat advisory window has passed through the day. Neck fans However, that won’t be the only harsh weather you’ll want to watch for throughout the day! The raised heat index could make way for scattered showers in the early evening. Areas affected by the heat advisory are seeing up to 60% chance of rain and storms Monday afternoon with an increased chance of stronger storms in some areas. It would be a great idea to go ahead and pack your rain gear in addition to what you plan to use to beat the heat! Here at DFB, we’re REALLY into Disney food. Seriously, it’s right there in our name! Spread from Regal Eagle We’ve been covering Disney food and blogging about it for more than 15 years (!!!) at this point, which means we’ve been to every Disney restaurant, eaten hundreds (if not thousands) of snacks, and spent countless hours at EPCOT festivals. What do you do when there's a nearly 3-month gap between the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival and the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival? You throw yourself a big old DFB Mega Fest! We've got loads of giveaways, behind the scenes content, and untold crazy stories from AJ Wolfe and the DFB team. Come celebrate DFB Mega Fest with us! Through all those culinary adventures, three Disney World restaurants have never let us down, and today we’re sharing that list! Le Cellier Let’s kick things off with a classic EPCOT favorite — Le Cellier! This steakhouse is tucked away in the Canada Pavilion, and can sometimes be a challenge to grab a reservation for, since it has long been a go-to for birthdays and special occasions. Oh, Canada! They serve some classic steakhouse options, as well as a few signature dishes like their poutine and Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. The atmosphere is warm and cozy (sometimes just a smidge too cozy because those booths can be very close together), and it really does feel like you’re dining in a cellar. Host stand We’ve thoroughly enjoyed pretty much every meal we’ve had here in the past, and while it’s not the most budget-friendly of the options, it’s incredibly reliable. We can almost always count on a warm bowl of soup and a delicious filet mignon. Click Here for Our Latest Review From Le Cellier! Nomad Lounge Now, let’s talk hidden gems! If you’ve been a DFB fan for a while, then you know that one of our FAVORITE places to dine in Animal Kingdom is Nomad Lounge. This lounge is attached to Tiffins, but it has its own Walk-up Waitlist and seating process, plus a slightly different menu. Lounge-style seating The menu here is made up of specialty beverages (including several fun and exclusive mocktails), as well as a variety of small plates. You can also sometimes order items off the Tiffins menu next door. They tend to offer some seasonal specialties, and we haven’t been disappointed by one of their menu items yet! Nomad Lounge Eats They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and if the weather is amenable, we love getting a table on the patio where we can people-watch and enjoy nature. It’s a truly lovely experience! Click Here to Learn Why Nomad Lounge Is So Amazing! Sanaa Last but not least, we HAVE to mention Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village. This spot is so rarely visited because it’s hidden at a Disney Vacation Club resort, but it’s SO worth the trek. You can enjoy authentic African and Indian-inspired eats while dining with a view. Sanaa The tables here look out on the savanna at the resort, and during the daytime, you can sometimes see animals strolling past the window. Where else do you get that experience?! And of course, we’ve got to mention their iconic bread service served with delicious naan and various dips. Sanaa Sanaa is pretty much the definition of a hidden gem, and we’ve enjoyed nearly all of our meals there. There’s a reason why we keep recommending it over and over again! Click Here to See a Sanaa Review! So those are the three Disney World restaurants that seem to never fail us! Keep in mind that all Disney restaurants have their ups and downs, but we’ve found that on the whole, these are pretty reliable. Quite a few things are currently closed in Magic Kingdom! Cinderella Castle Tiana’s Bayou Adventure just officially opened, but Country Bear Jamboree is still down for refurbishment. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade just closed permanently to become a new Disney Vacation Club lounge, and Tortuga Tavern is now seasonally closed in Adventureland. Seems like a long list, right? Well, now we’re adding another offering to that group. Peter Pan’s Flight is now officially closed for a long refurbishment in Fantasyland. As of July 8th, the ride is temporarily unavailable and will remain closed through August 20th, 2024. This means you’ll have to wait until August 21st to ride again! Peter Pan’s Flight closed This ride tends to be one of Disney World’s more popular options, with a consistently long wait time and an in-demand Lightning Lane. However, the ride also has a lower hourly capacity, so it loads pretty slowly, which means the line moves slowly. Completely boarded up Thankfully, a few years back, Disney updated the ride with an interactive queue. Now, waiting in line for Peter Pan’s Flight is a little more bearable as you walk through the Darling family’s house and interact with Tinker Bell! Peter Pan’s Flight interactive queue When we spoke to a nearby Cast Member at Peter Pan’s Flight the morning of its closure, we were told that the ride system was built first, and then Disney built the building around it, which makes it a challenge to repair and refurbish. With those difficulties, the ride could possibly take longer than usual to update, or the refurbishment could be minimal and it could reopen early. We’ll be waiting to see if either of those situations comes to pass! Backed up Peter Pan’s Flight Lightning Lane While Peter Pan’s Flight is closed, there are still plenty of rides to check out in Magic Kingdom, including the NEW Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (it was probably pretty smart of Disney to open that ride before closing a major one for refurbishment). The park as a whole is in the middle of some pretty big changes these days. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure With a new Country Bear Jamboree show opening soon, a new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge coming to Adventureland, a new Disney Vacation Club lounge coming to Frontierland, and a major expansion planned for “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” in the future, Magic Kingdom’s about to look totally different. Disney World’s original park also tends to be its busiest, so it’s no surprise that the company is investing in it to add more space and more offerings. Cinderella Castle We’ll keep you updated with any more changes at Magic Kingdom, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest! We’ve got you covered. Disney parks are changing in a major way and more updates are on the horizon. Magic Kingdom The DisneylandForward project has officially been approved and will bring a $1.9 billion expansion to Disneyland Resort. The first permits have been filed for Disney World’s massive Animal Kingdom expansion, and Magic Kingdom’s Beyond Big Thunder overhaul will breathe new life into the original Florida park. Bob Iger has a new plan for Disney parks, and we happen to be pretty excited about it. Disney CEO Bob Iger has faced several hurdles since returning to the company as its leader for the second time. But, hardly any battle Iger has dealt with — lawsuits, political tête-á-tête, poor box office results, proxy battles, you name it — are as harrowing as answering to Disney fans. We’re a passionate bunch, and for good reason. Not everyone seems to be thrilled with Iger’s recent confirmation that future parks projects will be intellectual property (IP)-based, but we’re still holding out hope. ©Disney Essentially, IP is an easy way of referring to the stories and characters created by Disney for its various media content. When Iger announced that more IP would be coming to the parks, he backed it up by saying, “If you analyze carefully how we achieved those returns on invested capital in the parks, it was all about the IP.” ©Apple He cited the new Zootopia expansion in Shanghai Disneyland as the company leveraging the popularity of that intellectual property in the region, and the concept of bringing Avatar to the newly approved DisneylandForward expansion project in California. Not only that, but Iger has stressed that Disney plans to “turbocharge” the parks in the next decade or so, in hopes of integrating new intellectual properties at a quicker pace — a strategy inspired by recent success. ©Disney “For quite a long time, new attractions and lands at the parks were based on, essentially, either very old IP or no IP — just an attraction. And, starting really with Cars Land and Toy Story and a few others… we decided that almost all of our investment in the parks in terms of attractions and lands would be using that IP. And it’s very very clear what that delivered,” Iger shared. ©Disney We’ve seen the success of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disney World and Disneyland, and have spent plenty of time exploring Toy Story Land, Pandora: World of Avatar, and even ToonTown. Many fans argue that bringing IP like this into the parks goes against what Walt Disney would have wanted, preferring the creation of “original” theme park attractions instead of using IP. But, at the end of the day — we have no idea what Walt would think of Disney parks as they are today. And, ultimately, the argument could be made that any time Disney creates something — whether it be for the parks, a movie, or TV — bam, intellectual property. Toy Story Land Disney outlined its push to go “beyond storytelling” in parks across the globe and outlined examples of how it has already done so. Frozen, Toy Story, Avatar, and The Avengers franchises have all been extremely successful IP for Disney, so of course they would take that success and try to translate it to the parks — and from what we’ve seen and what Iger has said, they’ve done just that. Pandora As far as what’s on the horizon at Disney parks, we know that they have been very specific with the kinds of lands it would possibly like to bring to Disneyland. Disney has proposed projects themed after Coco, Black Panther, Tangled, Frozen, Zootopia, Peter Pan, Tron, and Toy Story. Concept art for an Avatar area in Anaheim ©Disney Disney has also already released concept art for a possible Avatar-themed land in Disneyland. Over at Animal Kingdom, based on early concept art, we’re hoping to see experiences inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.” Disney released concept art of the new land, and while things can always change, the “Tropical Americas” expansion has us pretty excited. @Disney The Beyond Big Thunder expansion at Magic Kingdom could potentially bring a NEW land (or possibly lands) to Magic Kingdom. In April 2024, Disney confirmed that the first steps had been taken to make this massive expansion a reality. No matter what your thoughts on IP may be — expansions are on the way to Disney parks across the globe, and we think that’s reason enough to be excited! Cinderella Castle One thing is for sure, we’ll be on the hunt for more updates about Disney’s theme park expansions, so make sure you stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for the latest news! It takes a lot of work to keep you updated on the latest and greatest Disney news. But here at DFB, we love what we do! Cinderella Castle We’ve been doing this for over 15 years (!!!), and not only has The Walt Disney Company changed, but so has Disney Food Blog. So, to celebrate our 15th birthday — and all our years of bringing you the most up-to-date information (AND to battle the LACK of an EPCOT festival this summer) we’re throwing our own FESTIVAL! DFB Mega Fest is two weeks full of giveaways, fun content across all of our social media platforms and blogs, YouTube scavenger hunts, and MORE! Head over to the Mega Fest Hub to see what’s planned! To get the ball rolling — today we’re letting you in on some behind-the-scenes secrets here at DFB! We Have Some HEATED Debates Although we’re all friends here at DFB and get along a majority of the time, that doesn’t mean we don’t still get into some seriously heated arguments from time to time. In fact, you may even remember a couple because the debates were SO intense, that we had to involve the general public to help prove our points. Take the Happy Meal Debate of 2023, for example. ©McDonald’s It was a simple question, yet the DFB team was divided. Which reigns supreme: a Cheeseburger Happy Meal or a Chicken McNugget Happy Meal? Several of our writers and reporters stood firmly in the Team Cheeseburger camp, while others fiercely defended Team Chicken Nuggets. We quickly realized this debate couldn’t be settled in-house. So we turned to our readers. And then, there was the Pop Tart Problem of Early 2024. All we wanted to do was determine which was better: the Frosted or Unfrosted Pop Tart? We couldn’t do it ourselves because our debate quickly devolved into a meme-sharing battle, so we once again had to turn to our readers to set us straight. ©Kellanova We Have Late Night Parties Okay, this one is slightly an exaggeration because we’re technically working while we’re having these late-night parties, and we’re all in our respective homes. But, during after-hours events that happen at Disney World and Disneyland, we’re typing the night away to bring you coverage of everything you need to know. Depending on where the party is located and where in the world our team is located — it might make for a pretty late night. Cinderella Castle When Oogie Boogie Bash rolls around at Disneyland or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party comes about at Magic Kingdom, we send our reporting team to cover the event — but we also have writers and editors who stay up late to bring you everything you need to know! We Have a Book Club While most of us live scattered all across the United States from one another, we try to make it a point to still spend time together outside of the virtual “office.” So, one of our writers (Thanks, JP!) had the great idea to start a book club! It’s open to anyone on our team who wants to join and we meet virtually once a month. Disney Books We share about our current and past reads, and what we’re looking forward to reading; and eventually, the meetings usually devolve into discussions about things that have absolutely nothing to do with books — but that’s okay! We also do Furbaby Fridays on Slack where we share the latest photos of our pets and their antics! Theo! We Start Celebrating Holidays Early. Like, REALLY Early Disney may start celebrating Halloween in August, but we’re usually prepped and in holiday mode long before that. We do our best to be on top of whatever announcements Disney might make about holiday parties, food menus, festival happenings, and more, and that means starting to think about holidays and other events long before the thoughts even cross your mind. Holidays in Magic Kingdom As you might expect, it can be a little tricky to get into holiday mode so early, but we have some hacks! We just pop on a holiday playlist, light a festive candle, and call it a day. We Go To Extremes To Help You Plan Sure, you know all about the DFB Guide and how helpful it can be — but it’s the extreme things like taking two Skyliner rides, a bus, and 17,000 steps to find bread pudding news for you that might make you see how unbelievable things can be here at DFB. Or, literally counting steps from different hotel rooms to find out which is the closest to the Skyliner at Disney World. No matter what, we couldn’t do what we do without you! Disney World’s Skyliner We’ll be sure to keep working hard and bringing you all the Disney news and more you need to know, so don’t forget to stay tuned to Disney Food Blog — and thanks for sticking around for all these years! 5 Easy Disney Outfits You and Your Family Won’t Regret Wearing in the Parks Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Yee-haw!!! The Country Bears are BACK, baby! Well, almost… A new show is coming! In case you missed it, the Country Bear Jamboree show in Magic Kingdom closed in early 2024 while Disney made some updates to the show. Don’t worry, the same bears you know and love will still be there, but they’ll have a refreshed look and sing some of your favorite Disney songs! Disney is about to begin previews before the attraction officially reopens on July 17th, but before that, we’ve got a sneak peek at the bears. Let’s take a look! Disney just released a “Who’s Who” about the iconic Country Bears and showed off their new looks! We have to say, we’re pretty excited to see them in person soon…but let’s do a role call, shall we? Henry is Ursus H. Bear’s grandson and he took over Grizzy Hall after his grandfather opened it in 1898. He helped develop the current show and co-wrote the opening song with… ©Disney …the Five Bear Rugs! This group is made up of Zeke and Zeb and Ted and Fred and a bear named Tennessee. ©Disney Zeb’s son Oscar can be seen holding a Big Al plush. Just LOOK AT THAT FACE!! ©Disney Trixie is back, of course, as she is one of the most veteran performers. Disney gave us a little hint on what she’ll be singing — “After trying everything, she eventually found her niche for performing.” That’s right — “Try Everything” from Zootopia will be in the show! Listen to a sneak peek here. ©Disney Name a more iconic trio than Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah. We’ll wait… . Originally known as The Sun Bonnets, “these girls recently turned in their bonnets for Stetsons when they began singing with Trixie around the world, including a sold-out engagement at Royal Ursa Hall.” ©Disney Take a look at The Jewel of the Dakotas — Teddi Barra herself! We don’t know about you, but the thought of going to Disney World without any caffeine is totally unimaginable. Can you imagine trying to survive a busy day in EPCOT without any coffee? We would NEVER! But what happens when the line at Starbucks is scary long? Are we doomed to a day without caffeine? NO! Joffrey’s Coffee to the rescue! Let’s get some coffee! Joffrey’s Coffee kiosks are sprinkled all around the Disney World parks and hotels. In fact, we recently visited a Joffrey’s spot over in EPCOT, and we tried something NEW! Looking for a sweet new drink to try in Disney Word? We might have something for ya. The Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company kiosk near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an underrated gem! This little spot serves a new Salted Caramel Mudslide Cold Brew for $6.49. It’s made with notes of caramel, chocolate, and vanilla, topped with sea salt caramel cold foam. Those are all things we love in our coffee, so what could go wrong? Ta-da! Great news: this was AMAZING! We could really taste the saltiness in the salted caramel, yet all those sweet elements were still nicely balanced. The cold brew on its own is very strong and rich, but when the sweetness of the salted caramel flavors melds with the coffee, it is perfection. Salted Caramel Mudslide Cold Brew If you’re the type of person who likes a sweet coffee with plenty of cream and sugar, you might want to add a little more sugar to this drink. While there are some sweet ingredients here, the coffee flavor is pretty strong. Between that rich cold foam and the smooth coffee, this was a GREAT little find tucked away in EPCOT. YUM! Joffrey’s for the win! Who needs Starbucks when you can walk right up and order this drink in no time?! Seriously. Just look how long the line can get at the nearby Starbucks! Connections Cafe crowds Don’t be like those people. Work smarter, not harder! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Things change so much at Disney World that it’s hard to keep up with everything. Cinderella Castle In Magic Kingdom, we just recently saw the opening of a brand new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. We’re also gearing up to see what Disney has planned for the big Magic Kingdom expansion. Sometimes, though, things close in Disney World, and we’ve got a big update about some entertainment at Magic Kingdom that will be temporarily suspended. If you’ve ever made it to Magic Kingdom for role drop, you’re sure to have caught the Let the Magic Begin show that happens on the Cinderella Castle stage in front of the castle. During the show, Mickey, Minnie, and their friends welcome you to Magic Kingdom and wish you a magical day. This show has been temporarily canceled for the next three weeks. Let The Magic Begin You’ve probably also seen Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, which you can catch several times throughout the day in Magic Kingdom. This show also takes place on the Cinderella Castle stage. For now, this show has also been temporarily suspended. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire Both shows are set to return on July 28th, so these closures are temporary. In the meantime, you can still catch other entertainment in Magic Kingdom like the Festival of Fantasy Parade, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, and the Happily Ever After fireworks nighttime show — check the My Disney Experience app for times. Festival of Fantasy Also, be sure not to miss the Dapper Dans, who you can catch performing on Main Street, U.S.A., as well as Casey Corner’s pianist at Casey’s Corner on Main Street, U.S.A. Again, check the My Disney Experience app for showtimes. The Magic Kingdom Dapper Dans Stay tuned to DFB for more! Hold up for a sec! Before you embark on your Disney World vacation, you may get a LOT of comments and opinions from the people in your life. Magic Kingdom Entrance Some of these may be great pieces of advice, ones that we would give you! Others may be terrible, but the most important thing to remember is that everyone’s advice is based on what they have personally experienced (or heard secondhand) and everyone’s different. This also means that everyone’s preferences for their vacations are different. Even though we knew that this decision we made in Disney World was the right one, it certainly didn’t feel like it! One of our team members traveled to Disney World recently when there just so happened to be a MASSIVE heat wave in Orlando during that time. Orlando is always hot during the summer, but this was a day with an excessive heat warning. Tower of Terror She was a few days into her vacation and was REALLY feeling it, and honestly didn’t want to get up for rope drop in Magic Kingdom that day. Plus, she really wasn’t looking forward to walking around in such intense heat. So she made an interesting decision — to hang around her hotel for majority of the day, and didn’t go into Magic Kingdom until 4PM! Magic Kingdom This way, the heat of the day was pretty much over and she still had multiple hours until the park closed. However, she said she felt VERY strange sitting around her hotel all day when she knew she was “wasting” precious park time. She knew, deep down though, that she would be miserable in the parks for hours, and likely would need to take breaks inside often to beat the heat. Magic Kingdom Crowds She was able to complete everything she wanted to during her day, and was a little bit cooler while doing it. It worked out very well for her trip, so this is our reminder to you that even if something doesn’t feel like the normal choice, if it works for you or your family, go for it! PeopleMover Disney World heat is NO joke and it’s seriously important to do whatever needed to keep yourselves cool, hydrated, and still having a fun time on vacation. If that means you spend a resort day at the pool and head into the parks that evening, go for it! We’ve seen far too many guests not pay attention to what their body is telling them and succumb to heat exhaustion that takes them out for the rest of the day. Crowds We’re always here to bring you the latest Disney World tips, so stay tuned to DFB! Disney experts share 20 pieces of advice you should NOT follow anymore. Planning a Trip to Disney World? Over here, we have a love for Southwest Airlines! ©Southwest It makes sense when they offer some great deals and discounts on airfare, and what’s not to love about the “two free checked bags” policy? These are just a couple of the things that sets Southwest Airlines apart from the rest. That being said, one of their most unique policies could be changing soon and we have thoughts from the experts. Let’s talk about it! What policy are we talking about? We’re talking about Southwest Airlines’ seating policy. You know, the one where you don’t get an assigned seat (just a letter and number indicating your boarding group) meaning that when you board, you get to pick any open seat that you want. Southwest Cabin So what about this policy could be changing? Well, according to CNBC, in response to a weaker first quarter, Southwest CEO Bob Jordan recently shared “We’re looking into new initiatives, things like the way we seat and board our aircraft.” ©Southwest Airlines Interestingly, for years Southwest has been asked by analysts about things like opportunities for premium seating or other additional fees. Southwest does offer its Early Bird program, which lets you pay a little extra to board early (but you’re still not guaranteed your seating), but these comments from CEO Jordan could see the company shift from its policy to only have a single class, to a multi-class cabin. ©Southwest Jordan has mentioned that at the moment no decisions have been made on the changes Southwest will make. He also double-downed that Southwest is not considering charging for checked bags (all Southwest Airlines fans can rejoice!). For the month of July, you can experience Flavors of Florida in Disney Springs! Flavors of Florida This event gives you the opportunity to try tons of exciting menu offerings that highlight the best and brightest flavors Florida is known for. There are SO MANY menu offerings you won’t want to miss out on, BUT there’s another addition that you can’t miss, and it may not be what you’re expecting. You CANNOT, we repeat CANNOT, miss…the talking tree. Yes, during Flavors of Florida, you’ll get a chance to meet Douglas, the Talking Fir! Douglas is often found wheeling around Disney Springs during the holidays since he is the type of tree typically known for being Christmas trees, but he’s made an appearance for the summer as well! It’s Douglas! And yes, he really does talk! Douglas’ plant base has wheels built into it so he can wheel his way around the area and talk with different guests. And yes, you can chat with him, ask him questions, and he’ll reply to you in real time — it’s not canned, pre-planned responses, which we think is SO fun. We love him! He’s all decorated with oranges to match the summer feel, and we’re so glad to see him back. And to know that he’ll (hopefully) return in just a few short months for the holidays as well.
