JetBlue is offering a massive travel deal. ©JetBlue While summer vacation season is in full swing, those of you planning ahead for fall — maybe for Disney World’s Halloween events, for example — may want to take a look at the exceptional travel deal that JetBlue just announced on upcoming airfare. For travelers looking to travel between September 7th and November 20th, JetBlue is currently offering 25% off base airfare for those who book on JetBlue.com using the promo code FALL2024. JetBlue Now, as one would likely expect, there are some restrictions. First off, the trip must be booked by 11:59PM EST on July 10th. In addition, the discount only applies to base fares and is valid on nonstop flights only. The promotion is not valid on transatlantic flights, travel on Fridays or Sundays, or on previous bookings. Orlando International Airport Paisley by JetBlue is also offering a deal on hotel reservations through July 22nd. Reservations made between June 18th and July 22nd can be discounted by up to 25% on trips scheduled through October 31st. According to JetBlue, “Hotel prices displayed are for the specific dates shown, include applicable discount and are per stay based on a double occupancy hotel room at the cheapest double room available (excluding applicable taxes and other fees). Minimum stay may be required and blackout periods may apply.” ©JetBlue The timing of this deal opens up travel opportunities for those who wish to travel to Walt Disney World or Disneyland during the fall. At the former, you can experience Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and even the earliest offerings of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Jollywood Nights. We’re gearing up for one of the BIGGEST theme park events in Orlando…the opening of a NEW park! This new theme park is huge! Universal Orlando is set to open Universal Epic Universe in 2025 and we can’t wait to be there! We don’t have an official opening date yet, but Universal has already shared details about several of the lands, rides, restaurants, and offerings coming to the park. But what about the tickets? Well, we’ve got some news! Orlando Business Journal reports that Universal Orlando has shared Epic Universe ticketing information with third-party sellers. And the initial details are quite interesting. ©Universal At first, those buying tickets through Universal Orlando’s sales partners will only be able to access Epic Universe by purchasing a multi-day Universal Orlando ticket package with a three-day minimum. All of those options will allot ONE day at Epic Universe and will not allow for park hopping to or from Epic Universe. At the time of launch, there will not be an option to purchase a single-day Epic Universe ticket. ©Universal Keep in mind that this information could change in the future, so we’ll continue to keep our eyes peeled for more reports. This was the information given specifically to third-party sellers of Universal Orlando tickets, like online theme park ticket websites, so it could also be different than what’s offered directly from Universal. ©Universal Vice President of Public Relations Alyson Sologaistoa of Universal shared some more details on this news, saying, “We are introducing products in a phased approach starting with multi-day ticket packages that include an opportunity to visit Epic Universe in addition to the entire Universal Orlando Resort for those planning vacations further out.” Dark Universe Concept Art ©Universal “We plan to offer a range of ticket products to help manage the expected demand for Epic Universe and to ensure all guests visiting have a great experience at this groundbreaking park,” said Sologaistoa. We have a HUGE passion for all things Disney food here, and that means we’ve tried some amazing snacks and dining locations over the years and have also told you all about the ones we don’t recommend spending your time and money on. We’ll continue to do so for the years to come because things are pretty much always changing in the Disney parks. But we have to be honest with you — after all these years of reviewing Disney food, we have TWO wildly controversial opinions that you’ll either completely agree with or want to yell at your phone. What do you do when there's a nearly 3-month gap between the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival and the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival? You throw yourself a big old DFB Mega Fest! We've got loads of giveaways, behind the scenes content, and untold crazy stories from AJ Wolfe and the DFB team. Come celebrate DFB Mega Fest with us! Chef Mickey’s is NOT The Place To Be This one comes straight from the queen herself: AJ’s never been a fan of Chef Mickey’s and doesn’t think it’s worth your time or money. Chef Mickey’s Card Chef Mickey’s is a table service character meal located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s one of the most popular table service meals on property, with reservations selling out nearly every single day (when guests can book their reservations 60 days in advance of their trip). Finding a stray reservation for this restaurant is BEYOND rare, and it’ll be gone in seconds. Chef Mickey’s Here you’ll be able to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy at their all-you-care-to-enjoy buffets for breakfast or dinner. Breakfast will cost $54 for adults and $34 for kids 3-9, not including tax and gratuity, while Dinner will cost adults $66 for adults and $41 for kids plus tax and gratuity. Chef Mickey’s The problem is that for this price, the experience is NOT worth it in AJ’s eyes, and a lot of us on the team absolutely agree. Not every table here is created equal — everything is so there are clearly better and worse tables for viewing and unlike a lot of other characters dining experiences, your moments and meetings with the characters are SO quick because the restaurant is so crowded. See what we mean? And you know what all those people also mean? It’s LOUD. Like, so loud you’ll have trouble hearing the people at your table. Because this is an open air restaurant into the rest of the hotel — you’ll be able to hear ALLLL the other noise from the other areas of the lobby, Contempo Cafe right next door, the elevators, the Monorail whooshing through — it’s a lot. Hi Pluto! While we’re fans of buffets and characters meals, AJ strongly recommends going to Garden Grill in EPCOT instead for a better character dining, all-you-can-eat experience. For a lot of families, this is a one-and-done restaurant, so we totally get it if you want to do it for the nostalgia or the “it” factor, but just know you may be disappointed and frustrated at the experience you get for what you paid. Classic Dole Whip is NOT The Best Pineapple Dole Whip was the original Dole Whip flavor, and while we appreciate how long it’s been around, that nostalgia factor just isn’t enough to mean it’s the BEST, in our opinion. Pineapple Float from Aloha Isle Pineapple Dole Whip is wonderful, don’t get us wrong. However…there are SO many other unique, exciting flavors you can now find around Disney World. You can get it swirled with other flavors at multiple locations, turn it into a fun float, and if you’re in the right place at the right time of year, you can even experience new Dole Whip additions that arrive to the resort! Dole Whip Sampler We keep tabs on ALL the different Dole Whips you can grab around Disney World, and we can assure you that out of everyone on the team, not ONE of our favorite flavors is just regular pineapple unless we’re only eating it to remind ourselves of our childhoods and how Disney World used to be. Just to name a few, some of our favorites are: Tropical Serenade at Aloha Isle (Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice, Coconut Soft-serve, and an Upside-down Pineapple Cake Pop) Key Lime Dole Whip at Good’s Food To Go (Vanilla Soft Serve and Key Lime Dole Whip swirled together with graham cracker crumbs sprinkled on top) Pineapple Coconut Swirl at multiple locations (anytime you see this combination, we highly recommend grabbing it ASAP) The Tropical Serenade Float Don’t get us wrong: There is a time and place for a classic Pineapple Dole Whip, and if that’s your favorite, that’s fantastic! We definitely encourage you to branch out and try some other flavors if you come across them and are feeling adventurous. It’s hard to think ahead to the holidays when we’re in the middle of the summer and it is SO hot in Florida. Jollywood Nights But we’re dreaming ahead to slightly cooler nights, holiday snacks, holiday decorations in Disney World, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom. We’re also looking forward to Jollywood Nights in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and, well, we’ve got a BIG update about both events: how much they’re going to cost this year! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will be returning to Magic Kingdom this year, but as we previously reported, ticket prices have gone up for this year’s event. You’ll still get much of the same exclusive entertainment, snacks (including free hot cocoa and cookies), characters, photo ops, and more. Here’s what tickets will run you this year. Although ticket prices for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party went UP this year, Jollywood Nights ticket prices will remain the same as in 2023. Gertie cookie at last year’s event The vibe of Jollywood Nights is a little different than what you’ll find at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It’s a bit more sophisticated and a lot more Hollywood, meaning this part is a tad bit more mature than the Magic Kingdom party. Disney has confirmed what’s returning for this year’s Jollywood Nights, too, including Holidays in Hollywood with Kermit and Miss Piggy, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along, Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! fireworks, and more. Nightmare Before Christmas Singalong at Jollywood Nights Rare characters will also be putting in appearances, including Phineas and Ferb, Max Goof as Powerline, Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and more. This year’s party will also bring in new characters, like Baloo and King Louie from Talespin, José Carioca or Panchito from The Three Caballeros (appearing at Animation Courtyard), and Bo Peep or Lotso from Toy Story. Powerline Max at Jollywood Nights 2023 Other entertainment includes Holiday Fiesta en la Calle, a street fair with live music and delicious eats. There will also be a dance party with Edna Mode, as well as The Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club at The Hollywood Tower Hotel (aka Tower of Terror). It’s official, friends — Country Bear Jamboree, now renamed Country Bear Musical Jamboree, has finally reopened in Magic Kingdom! ©Disney The original Country Bear Jamboree show was an opening day attraction in Magic Kingdom, and this is its first large refurbishment/revamp since opening. While the new show still features our favorite singing bears, there have been some pretty significant changes to the show. We just got to see it for the first time and have to share our HONEST thoughts with you. Overall, everyone seemed to love the new show, and we heard a lot of folks talking about how they enjoyed it. The Music Of course, one of the most iconic things about Country Bear Jamboree was the music! Disney announced that the new show would have classic Disney songs sung in country, rockabilly, and bluegrass styles. It was neat to see Bubbles, Bunny, and Beulah team up with Trixie for “Try Anything,” and that song was a HUGE hit with the crowd. Ernest does a solo fiddle of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Teddy Barra and Wendell do a rendition of “A Whole New World,” while we also heard a new country version of “Fixer Upper.” Big Al teases that he will sing “Blood in the Saddle” but launches into “Remember Me.” Big Al Sammy and Rufus stayed together and sang “You’ve Got A Friend In Me,” which was very fitting at the end of the show. The finale is all the bears coming out to sing the “Bare Necessities,” which was…well…PERFECT. The exit song is “Come Again” with Rufus, Sammy, Melvin, Buff, and Max. Bear Necessities Overall, the new show is fantastic. We didn’t notice any glitches or delays with the animatronics, so it looks like Disney took some time to update them. We ended up walking out of the show feeling very upbeat (and still singing some of the songs). If you want a feel-good time in Disney World, don’t miss out on the new Country Bear Jamboree. Just like all Disney World attractions, this may not be for everyone, but we know there are guests out there who will love this new version of the show! Wow…15 years goes by SO fast. You have no idea what we went through to get this photo In that time, we’ve done a lot of running around Disney Parks, usually with some kind of food in our hands, trying to get that perfect photo. Meanwhile, we’re also taking photos of amazing Cast Members doing amazing things, Disney ducks (sorry, not sorry), baby animals, and more. But the food photos are what you really know us for, and you would not BELIEVE what we’ve done to get those great shots. So we’re going to tell you. What do you do when there's a nearly 3-month gap between the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival and the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival? You throw yourself a big old DFB Mega Fest! We've got loads of giveaways, behind the scenes content, and untold crazy stories from AJ Wolfe and the DFB team. Come celebrate DFB Mega Fest with us! Putting our phone in our bra Okay, sometimes you just don’t have enough hands to hold the food and snap the photo. But where else can you put the phone? Yep, we did it — we put our phone in our bra and took photos that way to get the shot. And we’ll probably do it again. Sometimes getting these shots is HARD This might seem extreme, and we’re sure some folks were eyeing us like we were nuts, but we do it for you. Remember that: WE DO IT FOR YOU. Ranking the BEST Magic Kingdom Snacks Under $10 Walk food clear across the park If you see us walking across the park with a snack that we’re not eating yet, it’s likely we’re trying to get a better shot of that snack in front of Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror, or the Tree of Life. That could mean trekking it for A WHILE if we’re on the other side of the park. But we have to get that park icon shot. Even Disney Pizza deserves a good shot This does mean that by the time we actually get to TASTING the food, it’s cooled down or melted. But the photos always come first. Will Disney Hop on the Tiny Foods Trend? Here Are 5 Mini Snacks We NEED To See Bring a full size cafeteria tray to EPCOT So we eat almost ALL the new foods at EPCOT festivals, and that is a challenge in and of itself. So when we go to a food booth and order the full menu plus drinks, we need some way of carrying all of that. We have no shame in bringing a full-sized cafeteria tray to a festival and putting it to good use. Get a Tray! This is especially handy for things like beer and wine flights. However, we also recommend that EVERYONE bring some kind of tray to handle all that festival food. That’s our pro tip! The ONLY EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Guide You Need To Read in 2024 Ask for fresh whipped cream Sometimes, if you mobile order a snack with whipped cream on it, the whipped cream looks pretty flat by the time you get it, or at least about halfway through your photo session. We have no shame in asking for a re-up on the whipped cream at the Mobile Order window at quick service restaurants. We will often ask for fresh whipped cream Granted, we try not to do this when restaurants are super busy, but that whipped cream can make or break a good snack photo. What can we say? We have standards! Best Snacks in Animal Kingdom for 2024 Carry napkins, paper plates, and utensils FOR DAYS So Disney is dropping new food all the time, and although we often see these new food items on menu changes, sometimes we don’t notice new food until we’re in the parks and we see the changes on the physical menus. That means we’re ready to try a new snack or new food IMMEDIATELY because we’ve got our day bag stuffed with extra napkins, paper plates, and, yes, even utensils. Reusable utensil set You have to be ready for ANYTHING at any time, and we usually are. Now, you can usually get things like napkins and plastic utensils at most locations, but we always bring our own, just in case. A good sturdy plastic knife to cut food is also extremely necessary because those cheap plastic knives don’t always cut it — pun intended — and we need to show you that cross-section so you know what’s inside. 5 Amazon Essentials You NEED if You’re Dining in Disney World Ate things we don’t like Okay, everyone has food they don’t like, and we’re no different. So, yes, we’ve had to eat some things we don’t necessarily want to eat. However, we do try to consider that when we’re reviewing food so that we can still get you a fair review. For example, Disney World’s 50th anniversary treats included a 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea cocktail with actual octopus tentacles in it, but you know what? We still tried it. Squid’s Revenge…yeah this was a weird one. There are times, though, when we eat something we don’t like, and we end up liking it, so that’s always a nice surprise, too. 7 QUESTIONABLE Disney World Meals That Fans Can’t Stop Fighting About Made makeshift hats to create shading for shots We’ve bent our hands in weird positions to make shading for certain shots that were too bright. We’ve set up scenes using trays, hats, and anything else we could get our hands on to keep shots from being too bright. We’ve even used park maps to shade a shot just so. The Little Mermaid Milk Shake See? Here’s the thing. Sometimes the lightning just isn’t great on a given day or it’s too bright. We have to use what we have on hand (sometimes including our hands) to make that shot look good. 5 Disney World Snacks You’ve Never Tried Before Waited to order food until the sun was JUST RIGHT Okay, all those Cinderella Castle shots with food we take? We probably starved ourselves for those shots. It doesn’t matter if we were hungry, we waited until the sun had lined up JUST SO because that’s the only way to get a good shot. Otherwise, you end up with a food photo that’s too dark or too light or with weird shadows. No one wants to see that. The sun has to be JUST right for these shots So, yep, getting those photos often takes a lot of patience. And don’t even get us started on those cloudy and rainy days that cause us so many issues. Note that we do this with a lot of merchandise shots, too, including Minnie Ears. The PROBLEM With Using Mobile Order at 2 Popular Disney World Hotels Arrived hours early for special events and entertainment When special merchandise collections drop in Disney World, they tend to sell out FAST, so we’ll arrive at a location EXTRA early and wait for hours to get our hands on it. Remember the Figment Popcorn Bucket chaos when it was first released in 2022? We waited FOREVER to get our hands on one to get photos of it. Figment Popcorn Bucket This goes for entertainment, too. If we’re getting photos of the parades, shows, and nighttime fireworks, we’ll stake out our spot hours early to make sure we can get good photos. 6 MUST-HAVE Shirts for Disney World This Summer Having snacks literally drip down our arms We once held a corn cob for 30 minutes straight until we got a good shot of it. Meanwhile, butter was dripping down our arms. This also often happens with ice cream snacks because Florida is hot — meaning ice cream melts FAST. If you’ve got a cone in your hand, you can guarantee that you’ll end up with ice cream all over your hands quickly. Things MELT This is also why we always carry some kind of wipes in our day bag because we need them when foods get messy (and they often do). This is also why we’re mentally doing math when we’re taking shots of ice cream treats so we can make sure we get good photos BEFORE they completely melt. (P.S. We often also use those wet wipes to clean up the table or bench where we’re trying these melty treats — we leave no mess behind!) Best Snacks in Animal Kingdom for 2024 Asked servers to bring all courses out at once Usually, when you’re eating at a table service restaurant, you just get one course at a time. However, we often ask to get all courses at the same time so we can get a good spread shot. These would be the shots that look like this: Full spread shot Of course, this means we do risk entrees cooling off by the time we get to them, but we love showing off EVERYTHING we ate in one sitting. A Radical Gen Z Drinking Trend Is Taking Over Disney World Restaurants Waited in line at the same snack stand over and over The flip side of asking for all of our food to come out at once at a table-service restaurant is ordering things one by one — and therefore waiting in line at the same spot over and over! We do this when we have to get melty treats, especially. It would be impossible for us to get three new Dole Whip treats at Swirls on the Water, for example, and take the photos and video we need before they are all a melty mess. Dole Whip Margarita Float So we line up for one, and then another, and then another…and yes, we do get weird looks from Cast Members when they recognize this is the third time they’ve seen us in 35 minutes. That’s showbiz, baby! So we do a lot of wacky things to get good food photos for you, and we’ll continue to do those things (and probably more) to keep getting more photos of all the food in Disney Parks. The Disneyland Resort location features a menu created by Michelin Star-winning chef Carlos Gaytán and offers high-end Mexican cuisine. RIGHT NOW, Paseo is offering a special deal that’s PERFECT if you’re dining for two — read below to see if you qualify! Paseo is currently offering a $100 dinner for two now through the end of the July! The deal isn’t offered to everyone, however, and meal selections are a tad limited. Let’s get into the specifics. Halloween time in Disney World is right around the corner! We LOVE Halloween! We have seen Halloween decorations go up as early as July 31st, and we are expecting a similar schedule this year! We know it may seem early for Halloween, but Magic Kingdom will soon transform into Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on select nights in August, September, and October. We just got some exciting news about two popular attractions that will be open during the party! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is an after-hours event that takes place in Magic Kingdom during the spooky season. This event is separately ticketed, meaning you need to purchase party tickets (not just Magic Kingdom tickets). These tickets grant you admission to Magic Kingdom at 4PM (before the party starts). The party officially runs from 7PM to midnight. During the party, there are so many special offerings, and this year, there will be a brand-new offering! Boo to You! If you have trouble obtaining a Virtual Queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and/or TRON Lightcycle / Run during normal park operating hours, you may want to consider purchasing a ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Happy Halloween! This year, BOTH Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction) and TRON Lightcycle / Run will use a stand-by line during the party! TRON Lightcycle / Run This means you can get in line for these attractions as many times as you would like throughout the night! No need to join the virtual queue or buy a Lightning Lane. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure In previous years, TRON Lightcycle / Run was open for the party, but those who wanted to ride would need to join a Virtual Queue at 6PM that was only open to partygoers. Virtual Queue from 2023 Disney has had TRON Lightcycle / Run operate using a stand-by line for other After Hours events, but this will be a first for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! TRON Lightcycle / Run We think this is a great perk and another reason why Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party can be a good value! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Along with the stand-by lines at these two attractions, you can expect lower wait times around the park as attendance for the party is limited. Pirates of the Caribbean during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party During the party, you can experience exclusive Halloween entertainment. Twice a night, Mickey’s Boo To You Parade makes its way through Frontierland to Main Street. We already have the iconic theme song in our heads, and we are just thinking about it! Boo To You Parade Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular lights up the skies around Cinderella Castle, and Jack Skellington makes a special appearance! A sequel to a hit movie is reportedly in the works at Disney, and trust us, this news is much more thrilling than florals for spring. Meryl Streep If you caught that quote, then you know exactly which movie I’m referring to (and that’s awesome, you deserve a gold star for that one!). The Devil Wears Prada was released in 2006 and was inspired by the novel of the same name. It finished its run in theatres with a whopping $326 million at the box office (the Devil can wear ALL the Prada it wants with that cha-ching), making it a certified hit. Now, Deadline has reported that this movie is finally getting a SEQUEL! Fans are buzzing with excitement at the possibilities for this sequel! Official Poster The film’s original plot revolves around Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway) who winds up interning for Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), a ruthless editor-in-chief of a powerful high-couture fashion magazine. Andy ends up realizing how cutthroat the fashion industry can really be. Also starring Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and Adrian Grenier, this star-studded film brought to life the iconic story that has become a classic, even earning two Oscar nominations, including Best Costume Design and Best Actress for Mery Streep. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt For those who loved the first film, the original screenwriters are expected to return for the sequel’s script as the film is currently in the early development stage at Disney. Although the studio has not confirmed whether any stars of the original cast will be returning, sources reported that the story will focus on Miranda Priestly facing the challenges brought by the decline of the traditional magazine industry. At the same time, Emily Blunt’s character has successfully become an executive at a luxury group, holding the advertising funds that Priestly now requires. Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly No word on filming or production dates has been announced, so for now we’ll tap our (imaginary) stiletto heels as we await more updates. This would honestly be a great place to add that iconic Miranda Priestly quote, “By all means, move at a glacial pace. Are you heading to Disney World this month? Driving to Disney World So many new offerings have opened up this summer, such as CommuniCore Hall and Plaza in EPCOT and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom. Plus, the Country Bear Jamboree will open very soon, on July 17th, with a brand new show! Now seems like the perfect time to visit Disney World to experience these new offerings! But if you’re going soon, watch out for an upcoming road closure that might impact traffic near the parks. If you are planning to travel to and/or from Disney World via a car or rideshare, an upcoming road closure could impact traffic and possibly cause delays. LONG wait to park According to ClickOrlando, the I-4 ramp to Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando will be closed on two weekends in July. The Northbound exit will be closed from July 18th to the 22nd and July 25th through the 29th. The exit will be closed from 10PM on July 18th until 5AM on July 22nd. The exit will close again at 10PM on July 25th and reopen at 5AM on July 29th. ©ClickOrlando.com This exit is being closed for concrete work to take place. Traffic will be redirected with electronic message boards and other signs. Driving in Florida While this exit does not lead into Disney World, it is still good to know if you plan on traveling around Orlando, as it could cause delays due to detours and possible confusion.
