We’ve had a very busy week in Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom! Critter Co-Op A brand new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, has finally opened, and we’ve had a chance to check out some celebratory treats, as well as get a look at some ride-themed merchandise. Speaking of merchandise, though, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have TWO gift shops and another one of those stores is NOW OPEN. We already knew the gift shops wouldn’t open on the same day as the ride, but Critter Co-Op (the former Briar Patch shop) is open as of today, June 30th. That means you can get all your Tiana’s Bayou Adventure merchandise right after you step off the ride! Critter Co-Op is open! Now, we previously gave you a good first look at everything you’ll find in the store, including some fun clothing, Loungefly bags, Minnie ears, hats, tumblers, Spirit Jerseys, and more. Merch You’ll also find plush versions of the critters you meet on the ride and more. The hours listed for the shop for today are from 9AM-10PM, so it seems like it will be open from park open to close. Note that you will be able to use Mobile Check-out in this shop. Critter plushes, too! There is another Tiana-themed shop, too, Tiana’s Bayou General which sells things like “groceries, housewares, and dry goods.” Tiana’s Bayou General If you’re headed to Magic Kingdom this summer to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you’ll need to know that the ride does NOT have a standby line: you can only ride it by nabbing a spot in the virtual queue or by purchasing Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass) and booking a Lightning Lane through that service. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Lightning Land and virtual queue line Once you’re done with the ride, pop on into Critter Co-Op to celebrate and buy some fun merchandise. Stay tuned to DFB for more. When are you headed to Disney World next? Have you checked out our line of fun graphic tees to wear on your trip? We’ve designed some for the whole family – from infants to adults! Trust us — one of the worst things that can happen on your Disney World trip is getting sick. Disney World Of course, if you’re just dealing with something like allergies (and it happens), you can just stock up on meds from one of Disney World’s many gift shops (although it’s always a better idea to bring your allergy meds from home). However, if you end up with something like COVID-19, it could derail your entire trip. Right now, experts are reporting that there’s a surge of COVID happening this summer, and here’s how it could affect your trip to Disney World. Granted, we are in a much different place when it comes to COVID than we were just several years ago. However, it is still very infectious, meaning it’s still a cause for concern. According to CNN, COVID levels in the U.S. have been rising over the past few weeks in at least 38 states. Animal Kingdom Face Mask Signage in 2021 “The virus tends to replicate well and to stay alive in an environment with warm and moist conditions. That fits with what we’re seeing,” said Dr. Robert Hopkins, medical director of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, a nonprofit public health organization. “The South and the West are steamy and hot right now.” That means that states like Florida could very well be seeing a surge in cases. Magic Kingdom Getting sick on vacation isn’t a lot of fun, so if you want to protect yourself, make sure your COVID vaccination is up to date and consider masking when you’re in places with a lot of people, like airports or inside crowded buildings. You’ll also want to always wash your hands, and when you can’t, use a hand sanitizer. Disney’s Animal Kingdom If you do get sick with COVID while in Disney World, you can protect others by not going out and wearing a mask in public spaces, according to CDC recommendations. You might also want to call guest services at your hotel to let them know what’s going on and have housekeeping paused. The front desk could also help if you need some help in getting medical attention. If you get sick, your room is the best place for you to be An updated COVID-19 vaccine is expected this fall that should cover the most recent strain of the virus — those should be available between mid-August and late September. The CDC has recommended that everyone ages six months and older receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine for the 2024–2025 season. Stay tuned to DFB for more. When Disney first announced that its paid skip-the-line service was changing, we had two reactions. One: freak out. Two: put on our reading glasses and detective hats. Why? Well, often, the IMPORTANT stuff is often hiding in the little details and the fine print. Lightning Lane sign for Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios But who wants to comb through pages and pages of words? You’re not in school — you don’t want homework! Luckily, we did the work for you. After reading the small print and looking at all the details on Disney’s new Lightning Lane Single and Multi Pass, we noticed something that seems to be confusing a lot of people. Let’s talk about it! Let’s start with the basics. Disney Genie+ was Disney’s old paid skip-the-line service. But starting July 24th, the system will be called Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes (where you paid per ride) will be called Lightning Lane Single Pass. Updates include: Making Lightning Lane plans BEFORE you’re in Disney World You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations seven days before your trip if you are staying in a Disney World hotel You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations three days before your trip if you are not staying in a Disney World hotel Choosing your attractions and times before purchasing Booking Lightning Lane reservations for multiple vacation days, all in a single day ©Disney Now, this one might be a bit of a throwback, but it’s important, so pay attention! Disney is also introducing (or reintroducing, technically) a tiered system for ride selections. ©Disney Three of the Disney World parks, including Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will group its rides into categories, and when making your first three Lightning Lane reservations, you must choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. The tiered system does not apply at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Tower of Terror If you remember using Disney’s (free) FastPass+ service, this tiered system may sound familiar! We have a full list of the rides (and ride categories) — check it out before your vacation! Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World OK, that’s the stuff everyone knows. Now, let’s get into the details. Disney explained that once you redeem a selection on the day of your visit, you can choose another Multi Pass attraction. But you can’t go booking reservations whenever you want. Specifically, Disney states, “You can make one [new reservation] at a time until regular park closing (subject to availability). If your park admission includes Park Hopper benefits, you can even choose a Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience in a different theme park.” Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances We’ve had several readers ask if the new system limits you to three Lightning Lane reservations per day. But per Disney’s updates, you can make as many reservations as you want — as long as you book them one at a time on the day of your visit. Disney Genie+ allows you to book the Lightning Lane for rides. Additionally, we’ve heard some questions about how this will impact Lightning Lane “stacking.” Under the old Disney Genie+ service, you could “stack” your Lightning Lane reservations for later in the day, giving you a whole lineup of attractions to ride via the Lighting Lane back-to-back. Scanning into a Lightning Lane at Disney World Now that we know that you can make one additional reservation at a time, you should (in theory) be able to stack Lightning Lane reservations after redeeming your first Lightning Lane. Of course, we’re still waiting to test things out in real life, so stay tuned for our official findings. Test Track If you like having a whole list of rides lined up for your day, this system could work to your advantage. When the new system launches this July, we’ll be sharing all our best tips and tricks on how to use the Multi Pass to your advantage. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. There are a lot of things to consider when you’re planning a trip to Disney World. Orlando International Airport You’ll need to figure out a budget, as well as where you’re going to stay and what kind of park tickets you’ll need. You’ll even have to figure out how LONG you’re going to visit Disney World for. Of course, you’ll also have to actually GET there, which, for many of us, means flying. The good news is, though, that Orlando International Airport is getting new flights almost every day. Now, ANOTHER new flight has just been added to Orlando Airport. According to The Orlando Business Journal, low-cost Canadian airline Porter Airlines will soon add a new flight to Orlando from Nova Scotia, Canada. The flight will offer service from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Orlando International Airport starting on December 6th, as well as 14 weekly departures on its existing routes to Toronto and Ottawa. Orlando Airport Porter Airlines’ new Florida schedule will feature up to 126 weekly departures from cities it currently flies from, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax. The airline will also start flying to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Miami, and Tampa, starting this winter from West Palm Beach. ©Porter Airlines It seems that Florida is a popular destination for Canadians. In 2023, international travel to Orlando surged, led by Canadian visitors to the state. A record 1.26 million Canadians traveled to Orlando in 2023. Now, Canadians have a new option on how to get there. Of course, getting to Orlando International Airport is only part of getting to Disney World. You’ll also need ground transportation from the airport to Disney World. Several options are available, though, including renting a car, getting a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or using a shared shuttle service like Mears Connect driven by Sunshine. Mears Connect However, getting around Disney World is super easy — and FREE. You can grab buses, the Monorail, the Skyliner, and boats to get around the resort. Is there a superior Disney Park? Disneyland Each Disney Park offers something unique — the parks offer lively festivals, unique attractions, and unforgettable entertainment all over the world. But does one park do it better than the rest? Some Disney Adults suggest that may be the case! While the best Disney Park is purely subjective, fans of the American Disney Parks are starting to get pretty vocal about one being king of the six U.S.-based parks — Walt Disney’s original Disneyland! While we don’t have a favorite (it’s like picking your favorite child), we’ve heard the noise and we can understand why many Disney Adults feel this way. Disneyland The overabundance of love for Disneyland as opposed to the Parks at Disney World seemingly stems from the reception of the Parks’ changes. Disneyland’s changes have gotten a warmer reception over the years while Disney World’s changes have tended to be more controversial among Disney Adults. Why is this? We have a few theories… WELCOME to Mickey’s Toontown! March 2023 Let’s start with something more recent. Last year, Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland was transformed and, for the most part, everyone is happy with the changes? Right now, Haunted Mansion is closed for a queue makeover and refurbishment, and the sentiment is largely anticipation rather than disgust. And Space Mountain’s occasional Hyperspace Mountain overlay is welcomed when it comes around. Haunted Mansion is closed and under construction So why doesn’t Disneyland get the same blowback with its changes that Disney World does when it changes things up? While there’s no direct science, we have a few ideas. The first idea is that Disneyland likely operates with more of a reverence toward its history due to the stakes involved. Disneyland’s largest clientele is the locals and Magic Key Passholders, and so appeasing them is sort of a must. Similarly, as Disney’s first theme park, there’s a sense of responsibility that must be upheld. Removing or changing beloved, but older attractions cannot be done lightly. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is a park staple that is still popular at Disneyland to this day So instead of removing, Disneyland has meticulously tried to add or enhance, all while honoring its history. Mickey’s Toontown is a success because it was enhanced and not replaced. Rumors circulated for years that Roger Rabbit’s CarToon Spin would have to make way for a new attraction like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. However, Mickey and Minnie’s was added while nothing substantial was removed from Toontown. In fact, the land got a shiny new makeover that only further honored the beloved Disney characters. Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin Meanwhile, Hollywood Studios removed the Great Movie Ride — an opening day attraction in the center of the park — to make way for its Mickey and Minnie’s. The Disney World Parks are no stranger to replacing outdated attractions. However, it doesn’t matter if the new attractions are phenomenal, there will always be blowback from fans of the classics. Disneyland has had its own share of these mishaps (looking at you Carousel of Progress and Peoplemover in Tomorrowland), but as of the last decade-plus, the theme of Disneyland has clearly been expansion, not replacement, as made evident by DisneylandForward. Oh, Great Movie Ride, how we miss you… Disneyland also naturally has far fewer mishaps because it has far fewer space to play with than Disney World. Disney World is a premier tourist destination, and while Disneyland is also in its own right, it doesn’t hold a candle to Disney World’s yearly attendance. As a response, Disney World is constantly trying to innovate and keep up with demand. Attention and money must be allocated all over the expansive resort, while Disneyland’s restricted space means every change has to be done delicately and infrequently. Absolutely everything will be under a microscope, so better not disappoint. Pixar Fest banners Disneyland has also failed in the right areas. Disney California Adventure could always use more TLC ever since it opened in 2001. It’s offerings have improved over the years, but change is consistently welcomed there. However, the change from Bugs Land to Avengers Campus has had a lukewarm reception (fans are still clamoring for that E-ticket, Avengers attraction), and the change to Pixar Pier has many Disney Adults wondering if Disney California Adventure will continue moving away from its loved California-theme, but neither of these can be considered true failures. Disneyland seems most inclined to take its biggest risks at the park where missing your mark will be received better. Like we said before, the calculated risks are just better at Disneyland. Avengers Campus So why do Disney Adults complain less about Disneyland’s changes as opposed to the changes at Disney World’s Parks? That’s up to you to decide. The reception certainly seems to favor Disneyland’s direction and changes, but it’s important to remember that comparing the Disneyland Resort to Disney World can be like comparing apples to oranges. Disney World has to operate differently than Disneyland as it offers A TON of stuff that you can’t get at Disneyland while catering to MUCH larger crowds. It really is a totally different experience — that will always come with different expectations. Disney World has seen a lot of changes over the past few years! Magic Kingdom In Magic Kingdom, Tron Lightcycle / Run has been added to Tomorrowland, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been added to Frontierland. Recently, EPCOT just completed its multi-year transformation with the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza. Even more, change is coming to Disney World, as projects for the Dinoland U.S.A. re-theme in Animal Kingdom and Beyond Big Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom are currently in the works. Disney has only shared the blue sky concept art of these projects. This means that the concept art shown is just what could be and is not exactly what will be featured in these new areas of the park. This is totally normal, as concepts change in the development process. For example, while Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is beautiful, it looks different from the original concept art. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure This has made fans start to lose trust in the concept art Disney has been releasing. Most recently, fans have been discussing the concept art for the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain project. Disney has said that this area could feature lands or ideas from Coco, Encanto, and even Disney Villains. Concept art of potential Magic Kingdom expansion including ‘Coco’ and Villains We asked, you, our awesome readers to get their opinions on this concept art and expansion, and the consensus was that they do not trust it. Possible Villain Land Expansion Coming to Magic Kingdom One of our readers shared that they would believe it when they see it and expect that this project will be scaled back in the same way EPCOT’s transformation was scaled back. EPCOT Transformation Early Concept Art ©Disney Kristina, one of our readers, shared that “all of this could be beautiful if done right and not rushed. Open it when it’s been fully conceptualized and tested.” She also pointed out the technical issues that have been going on during previews of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and how Rise of the Resistance still has technical problems. Rise of the Resistance breaks down frequently Jeff, a reader, said that there is a “precedent for lovely concept art that turns out to be wholly inaccurate and nothing like what is eventually developed.” He pointed to the newly opened CommuniCore Hall and Plaza and said, “Look no further than the center of EPCOT and the building proposed. We got a student recreation center instead. Add to that the Play Pavilion, Mary Poppins, and Beastly Kingdom. Take these all with a grain of salt and temper expectations. They are pretty paintings and nothing more.” ©Disney || Play Pavilion Concept Art Some of our readers added some humorous points to this debate. One reader joked that they can’t wait for the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain Cafeteria! Another joked and said that they think this concept will change 20 times before they even break ground. Another Look @Disney It has been a trend for new lands to open with about two to three new rides, and Melanie, a reader, said that she does not care for the expansion unless it has at least “six new rides. Not movies, not restaurants, not stage shows. We deserve better than two new rides per land.” Potential Coco Area in Magic Kingdom For example, in Galaxy’s Edge, there are only two rides and right next door in Toy Story Land, there are three rides, but only two of those rides were new additions for Hollywood Studios. Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land All in all, it seems that our readers all share a similar feeling to Disney’s concept art for the Magic Kingdom expansion. It is hard to trust concept art as concept art is constantly changing. We hope that Disney will give us some more details soon because we are very excited about this project and know Magic Kingdom has the potential to grow even more with these new concepts! Hear ye, hear ye! Think of us like the local town crier. We’re here to report on the latest Disney news and talk about the current theme park trends. Well, today, dear audience, we come to you with some FUN news. There’s a new store open in Disney Springs, and the tiny shop is already proving popular. Disney Springs During our visit, the shop was filled with Disney fans of all ages. And when you see the NEW souvenirs available exclusively at this shop, you’ll understand why. Now, come along! Let’s gather round and see what’s new. If you’re arriving at Disney Springs via bus, you’ll enter by the Town Center section. Here, there used to be a shop called Ever After Jewelry Co., and, as the name implies, this shop sold Disney jewelry and designer bags. Well, that shop got a total makeover — it’s now called Disney Ever After! Disney Springs When we say the shop got a makeover, we mean it! Inside, the new store is bright, colorful, and full of popular Disney characters. We spotted several merchandise displays around the shop, each filled with stuffed animals and accessories inspired by a different character. Characters like Stitch, Baymax, and Donald seemed to be pretty popular! Look at that CHAIR! Now, you can find Loungefly bags, Minnie ears, and even some Lug bags at Disney Ever After! Note that some merchandise seemed to be selling quickly, so availability may vary during your visit. There’s a LOT of fun merchandise here! OK, now, for our favorite part. This store is home to Disney World’s FIRST and ONLY create-your-own headband experience! Look familiar? We’ve seen this fun concept in Tokyo, and earlier this year, it finally arrived at Disneyland Resort, too! We’re so happy to see the souvenir make its way to Disney World. There’s a new create-your-own headband stand! So, here’s how it works. Each person can buy up to two black headbands for $9.99 each. Then, you can load up your headband with some plush characters! Each mini plush head is $11.99, and you’re limited to three per item, per person. That means you can’t get three Mickey heads, but you’re welcome to get multiple different characters. Look at all the options! During our visit, we spotted several character plush heads to accessorize your headband, including Pooh, Tigger, Chip, Dale, Stitch, Lotso, Buzz, Little Green Aliens, Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Minnie. You can mix and match however you want! This is so fun! The characters slide right onto the headband, so it’s easy to swap them around however you want. Come check it out during your next visit — these souvenirs are already going viral online, and we have a feeling that they could sell out. This store is adorable! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. It’s a quick-service location with many different warm entrees, as well as some grab-and-go options like Uncrustables, Yogurt Parfaits, desserts, and more. We especially like the Oak-grilled Salmon served here at lunchtime — it’s an underrated gem! But today, we’re here to try something NEW. Mediterranean Veggie Wrap We grabbed the new Mediterranean Veggie Wrap for $10.49, which we thought was a little pricey for the size. This is made with a wheat wrap and is filled with a chipotle mayo-esque spread, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, and kale. It’s a simple, healthy little snack! Plus, we enjoyed all the vegetables, which were nice and fresh. The lettuce, cucumbers, and kale all had a nice, light crunch. Here it is! The tomatoes were a little bit mushy BUT they were very flavorful! There was also a low, smoky flavor to the wrap, which was interesting since it’s just…vegetables. Could it have come from the spread? Also, that chipotle mayo-type spread holding it all together had a good bit of spice, so if you’re not a fan of heat, stay away! It’s all veggies Overall, if you’re a plant-based eater, you may find this to be a pretty good option, but if you’re NOT restricted to a plant-based diet, you may want to choose one of the other many options available around EPCOT. Was this the worst wrap we’ve ever had? No. But it certainly wasn’t the best! Plant-based eaters may really like it! Looking for more of our recent reviews? Check out our posts below! Rides close down for refurbishment all the time in Disney World. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed for months! It’s a common thing for Disney to close a ride so they can make sure everything is running correctly, give it the touchups it needs, and then, eventually, get it back running again for everyone to enjoy. Lengths of refurbishments vary based on many things, but they can be short for only a couple of weeks or much longer spanning over many months. Luckily, one ride that has been closed since January and we thought it was opening in late July, but it turns out it’s opening THIS WEEK! Let’s see what’s opening (and remaining closed) the week of June 29th through July 5th. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed on January 8th, and it looks like this roller coaster will be reopening on July 1st a whole four weeks early, according to the ride’s times on Disney’s website! It’s opening EARLY! Last year, when the ride closed around this time (on February 20th, to be exact), it reopened on May 26th. This year’s closure has been significantly longer, but Disney hasn’t announced any kind of major re-theming or changes coming to the ride, so we’re assuming that the closure is just for routine maintenance. New Update Confirms EARLY Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster OPENING DATE in Disney World Magic Kingdom Country Bear Jamboree Country Bear Jamboree closed on January 27th, 2024, for a pretty big refurbishment. Disney announced that a NEW show is coming to Country Bear Jamboree, with the bears learning an all-new act. The new show is set to open on July 17th! Country Bear Jamboree New costumes and details have been shared recently that are getting us excited to see the new act! Hey, pals! With Country Bear Jamboree and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed, that leaves just Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Walt Disney World Railroad open in Frontierland, so it’s sometimes a little bit of a ghost town over there, especially if Big Thunder happens to be down. Learn more about the changes coming to Country Bear Jamboree here! Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Beautiful view from Tomorrowland Terrace Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! The Big PROBLEM You May Have With Magic Kingdom Virtual Queues Starting NOW EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th. Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Other than that, Disney hasn’t shared many other details about the project. We don’t even have a reopening date yet, but we’ll be watching for more updates. What Will Disney World Change at Test Track? Here Are the 5 Biggest Theories Disney Vacation Club Lounge The DVC lounge at the Imagination Pavilion in EPCOT is closed for a short refurbishment. The lounge is currently closed The lounge closed on June 2nd and will remain closed until July 13th, 2024. While the lounge is closed, a temporary DVC lounge has been set up in the Odyssey pavilion. You will still find snacks, drinks, and places to sit here, though only half the pavilion has been blocked off to be used as the lounge. Temporary DVC Lounge It’s still a great place for DVC members to take advantage of the air conditioning spot to relax. Check out the temporary DVC lounge here! Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. The restaurant kind of opened on May 1st. It had been functioning as an Annual Passholder lounge, but that experience is now closed. Restaurant Marrakesh We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! Have You Overheard People Say “Firefly” in EPCOT? We’re Spilling the SECRET Behind Disney’s Codeword! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. Voyage of the Little Mermaid will soon become “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” NEW LOOK at ‘The Little Mermaid’ Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishment on March 17th. Blizzard Beach While Blizzard Beach is closed, Typhoon Lagoon is currently open. Universal has been dreaming BIG recently, and working to turn those dreams into a reality. Shrek and Donkey and Fiona! First, we saw Universal open Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. We also saw a NEW DreamWorks land just open at Universal Studios Florida. Of course, we can’t talk about BIG dreams without mentioning Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s ambitious third theme park. But Universal is also working on a big project ACROSS the pond and recently revealed a plan to build a theme park in the U.K. According to Sky News, Universal has bought land near Bedford, U.K. to build what will become the largest theme park in Europe, as well as a new 500-room hotel and dining area. The new project is expected to generate nearly $50 billion pounds (about $63 billion U.S. dollars) in economic benefits for the entire country. The project was also bring in 20,000 jobs during the park’s construction and create 8,000 new jobs once complete. Hogwarts at Universal Orlando Universal has bought almost 500 acres of land for the new park, with an option to buy an additional 60 acres. The company projects it would take around six years to build the new park. “I can tell you it’s going to be a world-class park with all experiences that people will love based upon the most popular films, video games and stories that people have enjoyed for decades,” said Page Thompson, Universal’s president in charge of new ventures. Universal Orlando This would be Universal’s sixth theme park, which includes parks all over the world, including the U.S., Japan, China, and Singapore. The new park is set to become bigger than Europe’s current biggest theme park, Disneyland Paris in France. Disneyland Paris ©Disney Although it’s too early to know what kind of rides or experiences Universal is planning for the new park, the first phase of construction will consist of a theme park and a 50o-room hotel, as well as a dining area for people to come to if they don’t have a theme park ticket, similar to CityWalk at Universal Orlando. Universal CityWalk We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates about this new park, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Do you know a lot about the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin? Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Sure, it may not be a Disney-owned hotel, but we’ve often recommended a stay there. Not only do you get the same perks here as you would at a Disney World Deluxe hotel, but it’s often cheaper, and you can use and earn Mariott Bonvoy rewards points there. PLUS, it’s within walking distance of EPCOT. However, these two hotels also have a lot of great dining, like Rosa Mexicano, Todd English’s bluezoo, Il Mulino, and more. There’s also a hidden cafe you might know about, but we’re going to tell you about it right now. There’s a little coffee spot in The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin called Java where you can pick up a variety of coffee drinks without ever having to track down a Starbucks. You can also grab some breakfast here (including Mickey waffles), as well as sandwiches and salads for lunch and dinner. Java We decided to drop by Java recently to see what was new and saw a drink that immediately caught our eye: the Coconut Clouds Latte for $7.25. Okay, with a name like that, it has to be good, right? It’s made with espresso, coconut milk, cream of coconut, white mocha sauce, and vanilla syrup, and topped with whipped cream and coconut. Okay, YUM. Also bonus points if you order it without the whipped cream (like we did), it’s vegan! Coconut Clouds Latte We thought this was a solid drink, but it is VERY sweet. We didn’t get as much coconut flavor as we expected, though, especially considering all the coconut ingredients in it. However, it has a nice creamy consistency thanks to the coconut cream, plus just a little bit of coconut on top for a hint of coconutty flavor. Delicious! We’re going to say this might be just as good if not better than our usual drinks at Starbucks — and we didn’t have to stand in a long line to get it (let’s face it, those Starbucks lines can get SO long). So if you’re looking for a caffeinated beverage or an afternoon pick-me-up and you find yourself in the EPCOT area, just head on over to the Swan and Dolphin. Stay tuned to DFB for more. WHAT is going on with this Disney World souvenir trend?? Spirit Jerseys in Disney World! When we noticed this trend in the Disney World theme parks, half of our team reacted with, “WHAT are those people DOING?” and the other half were like, “Why didn’t I think of that?!” It’s a divisive trend, to say the least, and we need your help in deciding whether it’s absolutely ridiculous or completely genius. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Recently, people have started taking these $80+ Disney World souvenirs and…cutting them up. They’ll drop some serious cash and then take a pair of scissors to the item immediately. WHAT? OK, let’s back up. So the new trend is that people are altering their Disney Spirit Jerseys — those long-sleeve shirts that have the dropped shoulder and usually big puffy letters across the back — by cutting off some of the sleeves and the bottom part of the shirt. Castle Spirit Jerseys You can check out a few videos of the process here, where people chopped up their Spirit Jerseys to create short-sleeved, crop top shirts. The main complaint with Spirit Jerseys overall is that the long-sleeved design isn’t super practical for Florida weather most of the time. If you buy one of these in the parks, you’ll likely only be able to comfortably wear it if you’re visiting in the winter months. And if you live in Florida, there are only a couple of months out of the year when you need a long-sleeve shirt. So, trimming the shirt down to create a loose, short-sleeved shirt actually seems like a good idea! One of our team members tried it out and loved the results. Spirit Jersey Hack She said she’d definitely recommend doing this with any older Spirit Jerseys you might have sitting in the back of your closet, but it might not be the best plan for that brand-new one you just bought (because it just seems kind of wasteful considering how expensive these shirts are). But if you’ve got an old one that you want to repurpose to give it new life, this is a great option. Here’s the back She trimmed off the long sleeves and about half of the bottom, which creates a loose, flowy t-shirt that’s much more practical for Florida weather. It works especially well if you have a Spirit Jersey that’s a size or two larger than what you actually normally wear. If you want to try out this hack for yourself, you can grab a Spirit Jersey and get scissoring! Get the New Mickey Donut Spirit Jersey ©Disney This would be a good option if you just want to trim off the sleeves and not the bottom because you don’t want to lose that cute Mickey-shaped donut design! Shop this Spirit Jersey here! You might not want to use this hack on new, full-priced Spirit Jerseys, so we found a couple of Jerseys that are ON SALE right now, making it a lower-stakes experiment. Get the Captain America Spirit Jersey for 40% Off Captain America Spirit Jersey This Captain America Spirit Jersey could be a good option, as you can keep most of the design even if you trim off a good portion of the bottom half. Shop this Spirit Jersey here! Get the Star Wars Spirit Jersey for 32% Off ©Disney This Star Wars one is also a good choice because the picture and words are all located on the top half of the Spirit Jersey, and the sleeves are plain, so you’re not trimming off any of the design if you chop off the sleeves and bottom part. Shop this Spirit Jersey here! So what do you think of this new trend? Are you running to your closet to find old Spirit Jerseys or staring at your screen with a look of absolute horror on your face? When you travel to Disney World, how do you get there? Most of us choose to fly into Orlando International Airport. Orlando International Airport However, there are a number of things that can cause flight delays and even cancelations. In fact, it’s usually a good idea to prepare yourself for a flight change of some kind every time you fly because it does happen often. If you happen to be flying into Orlando today, June 29th, though, you can certainly expect delays because a ground stop has been issued for Orlando International Airport. According to WESH, a ground stop has been issued at Orlando International Airport today. A ground stop is an air traffic control measure that slows or stops inbound flights coming into the airport. So that means that flights in other airports headed to Orlando will not be given clearance to depart until the ground stop is lifted. As a result, that means multiple flight delays at Orlando International Airport. Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport Ground stops are usually issued during bad weather, dangerous wind shear, or an operational event. Today’s ground stop at Orlando was issued as a “facility environmental issue.” As a result, according to Flight Aware, more than 200 flights are currently delayed at Orlando International Airport. ©FlightAware However, some of those flight issues are also due to 150 flights being canceled by WestJet after a mechanics union organized a strike. According to ABC News, the strike by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association came as a surprise after the union claimed the airline’s “unwillingness to negotiate.” This comes at the start of a busy 4th of July travel week, which is expected to bring record crowds to the airport, as well as to Orlando, in general. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport If you’re headed to Orlando today, you’ll need to keep yourself updated by making sure you have notifications enabled through your airline’s app, as well as a way for airlines to notify you of any future delays or cancellations. It’s a good idea to also tap into your patience because you could be waiting a while for your flight to depart. Time to fire up Disney+ or grab a good book because it might be a long travel day. We are all about saving money at Disney World! Magic Kingdom There are so many ways you can save money during your trip, such as bringing your own food and drinks into the parks, bringing your own water bottle to be refilled in the parks, buying Disney gift cards before your trip, and so much more! One money-saving “hack” that is popular at Disney World is purchasing the Resort Refillable Mugs. If you have ever stayed at or visited a Disney World resort, you may have seen plastic refillable mugs for sale. These 16-oz mugs look like coffee mugs and come in fun Disney World-themed designs! They are currently priced at $21.99 and are activated for a stay of up to 14 days. You can refill them an unlimited number of times with soda, coffee, and tea. Everything You Need to Know about Resort Refillable Mugs at Disney World Resort Refillable Mug Unlimited soda refills for $21.99? That sounds like a deal! Unfortunately, there are three things that people do not think about when purchasing these mugs! Refillable Mugs Can Only Be Refilled at Resorts While the refillable mug does offer unlimited refills, they can only be used at Disney World hotels. This means you can’t bring your mug with you to be refilled at any of the four parks. Refillable Resort Mugs The good news is that these mugs can be refilled at ANY Disney World resort, so if you want to go resort hopping, make sure to bring your mug with you! Drink Station at Drop Off Pool Bar They are Bulky to Carry We like to think of the Resort Refillable Mugs as the original Stanely Cup, but just like a Stanley, these bad boys can be bulky to carry around. Resort Refillable Mugs Between the fear of the mug leaking in your bag and trying to find a way to carry it, going around the resort with a refillable mug can be a pain. Resort Refillable Mug The refillable mugs are a good idea if you are planning to take them to the pool for a pool day, but trying to bring them to the parks (where they can’t be refilled) can be a pain. Drink Station at Caribbean Beach Resort’s Banana Cabana Pool Bar You Have to Walk to the Refill Station Some Disney World resorts are spread out and only have one or just a few refill stations. For example, if you are staying at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs, it can be a pain to walk to a refill station. Drink station You have to be honest with yourself and ask if you would be willing to wake up earlier in the morning to make sure you have enough time to refill your mug. You also have to ask yourself if you are willing to make the trek to the refill station after a long work day. Drink station at Art of Animation Have Groceries Delivered to Your Room If you and your entire party are looking to purchase a refillable mug, it can get expensive, especially since the mugs are $21.99 each. Refillable Mug A popular option is to have groceries delivered to your hotel room. Different grocery delivery apps offer this service. We like to use Kroger Delivery for our groceries when we stay at Disney World! Step-by-Step Guide to Ordering Kroger Grocery Delivery to Disney World Kroger Delivery You can order a case of water and other cases of soda to keep in your room. This way, your family can have access to drinks without having to purchase a refillable mug and worry about going to the refill station. Kroger Delivery If you are team refillable mug, we totally get it! When we see these mugs, we feel like we are finally on vacation, and they can even be the first thing that people purchase when they arrive at their hotel. Plus, you can take the refillable mug home with you as a souvenir to remember your trip! For us though, we tend to stray away from buying the refillable mug due to those three main issues. The EPCOT transformation took YEARS, which meant most of us have grown pretty tired of seeing construction walls in EPCOT. EPCOT We were all pretty happy, though, when the last of the construction walls came down to finally open CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, signaling the end of the multi-year transformation. No more construction walls! YAY! BUT…it seems like actual construction in EPCOT isn’t over because some NEW construction walls have appeared…y’all, it never ends. Yes, just when we thought all the construction in EPCOT was over, we noticed NEW construction walls in World Showcase. The Canada Pavilion has had construction walls off and on for a little while now, but the construction walls were gone, but now they’re back. Yep, there are still construction walls in EPCOT. Construction walls are back up Now, we’re not sure what kind of work is going on behind those walls, although it’s probably just Disney doing some sprucing up of the Canada Pavilion. This will still happen from time to time, so construction walls won’t ever truly be gone from EPCOT, but wouldn’t we all love to see an EPCOT without any construction for at least a few months? Wouldn’t that be nice? Canada pavilion pre-construction walls Of course, the entirety of Disney World will always be a work in progress, as Walt originally intended, and we’re likely to start seeing even more construction happening in other parks soon, including Magic Kingdom, which is getting a huge new expansion (although we have no idea when that project will begin). There will also be construction walls going up around Disney Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand, U.S.A., as that land gets a Tropical Americas re-theme. @Disney So, basically, what we’re saying is that there will always be construction happening in Disney World, but that’s okay because it means that Disney is keeping everything looking good and always giving us new things to look forward to. So let’s look at those construction walls as something positive because when they do finally come down, it will — hopefully — have been worth it. Stay tuned to DFB for more. We know it’s a huge bummer when a ride in Disney World is closed for updates or maintenance, especially if it’s one of your favorite rides. Hollywood Studios However, this is how Disney maintains all the rides in the park, and that means we have to deal with rides being closed from time to time. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been closed since January, with a reopening timeline of summer 2024, and most recently, with indications that the coaster would reopen on July 27th. However, it looks like the ride will reopen WELL before that time! We checked the Disney World website for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster hours and discovered that hours are listed for the ride as of July 1st. Yep, that’s only in a few days! This would put its reopening ahead of schedule by four weeks! Now, we’re used to things taking LONGER in Disney World, so this is certainly some welcome news. ©Disney This is the second temporary maintenance closure for the ride — it received a refurbishment in 2023 after breaking down for several days in a row in the past. However, this seemed to be just a partial fix for its many issues. We spoke with a Cast Member in 2023 about this most recent closure and a Cast member told us it hadn’t had a full refurbishment since the parks reopened in 2020. This lengthier closure gave Disney a chance to give the ride a little extra TLC, which it seemed to need. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster This is great news for those who plan on visiting Disney World for the busy 4th of July long weekend: having another ride open will help at least scatter a bit of the crowds in Hollywood Studios. If you are headed to Disney World for the holiday, though, just know that it’s probably going to be very busy: Orlando is the #2 destination in the U.S. for folks traveling for the 4th, and a lot of those people are headed to Disney World. Heavy crowds at the front of EPCOT on the 4th of July in 2023 If you want to grab a ride on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster without waiting in what could be a long standby line, consider purchasing Genie+ to grab a spot in the ride’s shorter Lightning Lane. That could save you a lot of time, especially during peak crowds over the holiday week. Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Lightning Lane Stay tuned to DFB for more. Move over, Gen X and Millennials, Gen Z is TAKING over Disney World. Flounder of Reason Colada Yes, that means we’re seeing a lot of changing trends, and NEW trends happening at the parks. For example, Gen Z tends to prioritize flexibility in their travel over other generations. Gen Z is also prioritizing quick service/fast food and takeout over table service restaurants. However, there’s another way Gen Z is changing Disney World, and, over the past few years, we’ve seen Disney World respond to this new trend. In 2022, a study showed that Gen Z is drinking less alcoholic beverages than previous generations. (Now you might immediately think, “Not all Gen Z is of drinking age” but the study looked at percentages and took that into account!) The difference between Gen Z and previous generations is significant: 38% of Gen Z surveyed said they planned to drink more non-alcoholic drinks in 2022 than the year before. Their reasoning was mostly for health, as well as the “sober curious” movement, which focuses on mindful consumption of alcohol (think “Dry January”). Gen Z is drinking less alcohol That might be a good thing for Gen Z, but it’s taking a toll on restaurants, including restaurants at Disney World. Restaurants typically make about 30% of their profits from alcohol sales, so, thanks to Gen Z, they’re taking a big hit. However, restaurants at Disney World are starting to respond to this Gen Z trend by offering more mocktails on menus. Mocktails at Narcoossee’s Now, Disney World already has a decent selection of non-alcoholic beverages (that aren’t soda) that are already pretty popular with visitors, like the Frozen Mint Tea at the Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT, LeFou’s Brew from Gaston’s Tavern, the Night Blossom at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and more. However, many restaurants are adding more non-alcoholic specialties to their menus than ever before targeted specifically at adults. LeFou’s Brew For example, The BOATHOUSE in Disney Springs recently added four new mocktails to their menu, including the Tart Cherry Limeade, the Mint Berry Wave, the Blueberry Lavender Fizz, and the Redbull Punch. As you can tell, many of these drinks would appeal more to adults than kids. Redbull Punch ©Boathouse The Coca-Cola Rooftop Beverage Bar in Disney Springs currently has a robust mocktail menu that even includes a mocktail flight where you can try three of the mocktails available there. A mocktail flight, y’all! ©Disney At Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, there’s a separate section on the menu for two non-alcoholic mocktails, the Pink London Spritzer and the Agave Garden. We’re starting to see more restaurant menus actually list non-alcoholic beverages like this under “Mocktails” or under “Zero Proof” on the menu. ©Disney One of our favorite restaurants, Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, also has a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks that are targeted more at adults than kids. Think of these as your grown-up non-alcoholic drinks! This is something we’re also seeing coming to more bars and lounges in Disney World. ©Disney The trend is continuing, and we expect to see even more mocktails added to Disney World menus. These new thoughtfully-crafted cocktail menus should appeal to Gen Z, while also recouping some of the cost that Disney World is losing in alcohol sales due to their higher price points than other non-alcoholic beverages. We’ll keep an eye out for more menu changes and mocktail additions to Disney World menus, so stay tuned to DFB for more. It’s official: hurricane season is here. That means we’ve been watching the weather EXTRA closely — especially what’s happening in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricane Ian in Disney World Hurricane season usually runs from June 1st through November 30th, and experts have already predicted that 2024 could be the worse hurricane season than in previous years. Now, the first big tropical storm of the season is heading toward the Caribbean, and it’s expected to become a hurricane. That could mean Disney Cruises headed to the Caribbean could be impacted by this storm. According to The Associated Press, Tropical Storm Beryl is barreling toward the southeast Caribbean and could strengthen enough to become the first hurricane of 2024 before it reaches Barbados tomorrow, June 30th. A hurricane watch has already been issued for Barbados as it is expected to become a Category 2 hurricane before it reaches the country. This could be an especially dangerous time for Barbados because this weekend marks the Twenty20 World Cup cricket final, which is being played in the country’s capital of Bridgetown. ©NOAA Beryl is the second named storm of the season. Previously, Tropical Storm Alberto came ashore in Mexico with heavy rains that resulted in fatalities. Beryl is a bit of a rare storm, though. According to Florida-based hurricane expert Michael Lowry, “Only five named storms on record have formed in the tropical Atlantic east of the Caribbean.” The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted that the 2024 hurricane season is going to be higher than average, and are expecting between 17 to 25 named storms, with up to 13 of those as hurricanes and at least four major hurricanes. ©NOAA A tropical wave located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands is currently being carefully looked at, too. The NOAA believes environmental conditions could develop this system, with it forming a tropical depression next week as it continues to move west. Its chance of formation is currently 40%. Its current formation chance over the next 7 days is 60%. If it forms before any other systems, it would be named Chris. ©NOAA We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the developments this hurricane season and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6 Essentials You Need to Conquer Hurricane Season in Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Disney World dropped a lot of news on us this past week! Lightning Lane changes are coming! This past week we got lots of information about the holidays at Disney World during Halfway to the Holidays, and we also got information about new changes coming to Disney World’s paid skip-the-line service. It feels like we finally just got Genie+ down after saying goodbye to the FastPass+ system, but now that is all about to change again on July 24th. Lightning Lane is still going to exist in Disney World, but it will no longer be called Genie+. Although the system will still work in a similar manner where you can pay to skip the line, you will now be able to make your selections in advance, kind of like how you used to with FastPass+. Although the system has not debuted yet, here is what we know so far. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass are coming soon. Genie+ will now be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Individual Lightning Lanes will now become Lightning Lane Single Pass. Beginning July 24th, 2024, you will be able to make Lightning Lane selections before you are in the parks. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass are still both optional services that cost extra. Standby lines will still be available, but if you wish to experience attractions with a shorter wait time, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both. Kali River Rapids Lightning Lane sign in Disney’s Animal Kingdom With the introduction of this new service, Disney World is bringing back the tier system. When you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass in advance you will be able to pick three rides from the two tiers. One ride from tier one and two rides from tier two. Disney’s Animal Kingdom only has one tier, so you won’t have to worry about deciding between rides in the top tier. However, in the other theme parks, you will need to choose which rides are your biggest priority. Many of the most popular rides are in tier one, and you will only be able to select one of those in advance. Lightning Lane sign for Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Lightning Lane Single Pass will be similar to Individual Lightning Lane as an a-la-carte service. However, you will now be able to make your selections in advance. You will be able to book up to two Lightning Lane Singles Passes per day, and this service is for the most in-demand rides in the parks. The rides that are a part of Lightning Lane Single Pass are Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Avatar Flight of Passage. Frozen Ever After Lightning Lane sign in EPCOT Booking in advance, the tier system, and being able to hold three Lightning Lane Multi Passes at a time are the biggest differences with the new system. Disney World hotel guests and guests of other select resorts will have the opportunity to choose their Lightning Lane Multi-Pass selections and Lightning Lane Single Pass selections up to seven days before their check-in day. You will be able to begin booking your selections at 7AM ET. Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane Sign This is where the bad comes into play for those who are not staying at one of the select hotels that allow you to make your selections seven days in advance. For others, like local Annual Passholders or those who are not staying at Disney World hotels (or other select hotels), they will only be able to make their selections three days in advance of their first park visit. That means that anyone staying at one of the select hotels will have already been able to make their selections, and it is likely that there will not be as many options available. Lightning Lane As well, Annual Passholders who don’t plan their trip very far in advance may find a limited selection of time slots available if they do choose to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass. However, Standby Lines will still be available so Annual Passholders or last minute planners can always utilize those instead of purchasing Lightning Lanes if they are planning a last minute trip. Those staying at a Disney World hotel or other select hotel will find that they have the most options available if they book right when their window opens seven days in advance. Kilimanjaro Safaris One of the perks of being an Annual Passholder is being able to go into the parks whenever you please. This got a little dicey with park pass reservations and park hopping rules, but these rules have started to be relaxed, giving Annual Passholders more freedom again. Local Annual Passholders who wish to use this new service will have to plan their park visit three days in advance. This can take away from the spontaneity of owning an Annual Pass and being able to make trips on a whim. There are so many things at Disney World that seem as if they need to be planned out ahead of time and now that is the case once again with the updated Lightning Lane system. Expedition Everest Lightning Lane We have not had an opportunity to test the system since it rolls out officially on July 24th, so we will have to wait and see if this new system makes planning a trip to Disney World easier. No pricing has been announced for the updated system but we will make sure to keep you updated as more details roll out! And don’t worry we already have updated information about this new system on our site to help you be prepared for these new changes! There are some BIG changes coming to the Lightning Lane system in Disney World. Just got used to Genie+, Disney’s paid skip-the-line service? Well, it’s about to change. New Lightning Lane changes are coming We’ve been learning everything we can about these changes so that we can answer your biggest questions about the updates. As part of the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+) overhaul, a new, tiered system will be introduced for attractions. We’re still learning all the details, but so far, it sounds like the new Lightning Lane passes will give people the chance to make better plans ahead of their trip. But, there’s been one major problem. Starting July 24th, Genie+ will be known as Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes will be called Lightning Lane Single Pass. Disney has announced that beginning July 24th, you can: Make Lightning Lane plans before you get to the parks Choose your experiences and times before purchasing Book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days, all in a single day Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances So far, we know that Disney World hotel guests (and guests of other select hotels) will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to seven days in advance for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to three days in advance. And, at first, Disney included the caveat that you must be in the United States to purchase Lightning Lane passes and book them before your vacation. ©Disney When we recently asked a Disney World Cast Member, we were told, “Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass features will be available to Guests from other countries, they will be able to begin their pre-arrival planning on the My Disney Experience Mobile App after they reach the United States.” Lightning Lane This meant that international visitors could not purchase Lightning Lane passes or take advantage of the preplanning until they arrived in the United States, even if the 7-day planning window began before that. Naturally, many of our readers were NOT happy about this news. Lightning Lane Well, as of June 28th, Cast Members confirmed that Canadian visitors may continue to use the My Disney Experience app “after the launch of the pre-arrival purchasing and planning for Lightning Lane passes.” Translation: Both those in the U.S. AND Canada can plan their Lightning Lanes ahead of time with the My Disney Experience app. Tower of Terror Lightning Lane sign Keep in mind that we’re still waiting for more details about the new Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, and it’s very possible this could change in the future. We’re predicting some bugs and other small issues when the new system launches. We’re still hoping that Disney will update the rules so that our international readers are able to take advantage of the early planning, too! Lightning Lane at Beauty and the Beast show As mentioned earlier, Disney will be (re)introducing a tiered system for Multi Pass rides. When preplanning those first three selections, you can choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. Lightning Lane at Expedition Everest Things keep changing, so we will continue to share all the latest updates on these new Lightning Lane changes. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more!
