  1. We’ve got a Disney World spot for you if you love sweets and treats! Animal Kingdom If you’ve got a sweet tooth you may have heard of a certain place in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that’s got candy, chocolate, and more. We recently popped over to try three brand-new sweet treats, and we wanted to share them with you! If you haven’t guessed it yet, we went to Zuri’s Sweets Shop! It’s located in Africa across from Harambe Market. Its regular hours are from 8 AM to 6 PM, so you’ll be able to grab a treat from here at any point during your Animal Kingdom visit, depending on hours. Zuri’s Sweets! The shop has some amazing treats, including caramel apples, marshmallow treats, cookies, and more. It was a sight to see all the sugary goodness that you could just munch on. It’s essentially an Animal Kingdom confectionery store. There were lots of items that looked tasty, but we were on a mission for three new ones in particular! Look at all those treats! First off, we tried the Hippo Mallow Wand for $6.29. This treat is made with marshmallows and dipped in a grey chocolate coating, decorated with milk chocolate and crushed chocolate cookies. We couldn’t wait to eat this because it looked delicious! Hippo Mallow Wand! We definitely felt like this was a treat that kids would love! It’s a very unique snack with that marshmallow wand look. There was a chocolate cookie crumble on the back side of the treat, which was a great addition. Be aware, this treat was suffering in the hot sun — so you’ll need to eat it fast, or inside. Taste-wise wise it was very marshmallowy and chocolatey. The flavors went with each other nicely, making it a great treat to start off with. Kids would love it! Next up, we got the Mickey Tiger Mallow Pop for $6.29. Since we’re at Disney World, any Winnie the Pooh fans can also pretend this is a Tigger treat. The treat is a big marshmallow dipped in orange chocolate coating and decorated with black chocolate stripes. Mickey Tiger Mallow Pop! We loved how this treat looked; it was such a fun dessert. Just like the other treat, it will suffer in the sun. Also, be aware that the treat is very sweet, so sweet that we actually couldn’t finish it. After all, it is a sugary marshmallow coated in sugary chocolate. Those with a sweet tooth, this treat challenges you! It was so sweet Last but not least, we got the Mickey Giraffe Cookie for $5.49. It’s a sugar cookie with a chocolate coating. This one also looked very tasty, but we found the cookie was a bit on the dry side. Thankfully, it’s made up for with the chocolate coating. Mickey Giraffe Cookie! It was essentially a sugar cookie turned up a notch. We still think this would be a great treat for kids, because they’ll probably love it. However, we 100% think there are better cookie options available at Animal Kingdom — and for sure throughout Disney World. It was a little dry You’ll have to check out this place whenever you’re at Animal Kingdom next. 2. The 2025 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is almost here, and Disney fans everywhere are already planning their return to the park’s most mouthwatering event of the year. 2024 Food and Wine Festival This year’s festival runs August 28th through November 22nd. From international marketplaces to the culinary options and exclusive merch drops, this festival transforms EPCOT into a paradise for food lovers and Disney die-hards alike. Whether you’re a seasoned EPCOT foodie or a first-time visitor, this year’s event promises new flavors, fan-favorite dishes, and a few surprises that are sure to make it unforgettable. But there’s one rule we are encouraging people to follow this year. If you’ve visited EPCOT during one of its iconic festivals — like Food & Wine or Flower & Garden — you’ve likely noticed a frustrating new reality: there is hardly any place to sit. With Disney quietly removing many of the high-top tables scattered around World Showcase, guests are finding themselves awkwardly juggling plates, drinks, and utensils while trying to enjoy the global flavors. But there’s an unofficial rule starting to catch on—one that not everyone knows about yet: share your table. Nice little picnic table Yes, really — this small act of kindness is making a big difference. With fewer places to sit or set down your festival goodies, guests are beginning to invite others to join them at their table rather than guard extra space. It might feel a little awkward at first, but the magic of EPCOT often kicks in once you start chatting. You could strike up a conversation about favorite booths or trade festival tips. After all, you already have something in common — Disney! Plus, it’s better than hovering over a trash can to eat. Better than a trashcan! So, next time you snag a rare table near France or Mexico, take a look around. If someone’s balancing three plates and a toddler, wave them over. It’s the new EPCOT rule — and honestly, the magic multiplies when you follow it. Follow DFB for more Disney tips. 3. The Walt Disney World Monorail System is an iconic part of Disney World. It has transported millions of guests since it opened in October 1971, and it is about to get a really cool update! Monorail at EPCOT The Monorail System transports about 22 million guests per year. The monorails received a new feature to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and now the monorails are getting another upgrade! To celebrate the 50th anniversary, Disney engineers added a feature that illuminated the beam under the monorail at night. We have loved seeing this new feature, and now the monorails are getting another NEW feature. Beginning this week, the monorails will be getting a new feature that allows the logo on each train to glow in the dark. ©Disney We will definitely be keeping our eyes peeled to see the new glow-in-the-dark logo, we can’t wait! The Disney World Monorail runs a few different routes. You can take it from the Transporation & Ticket Center (TTC) direct to Magic Kingdom, or you can hop on the Resort Monorail that stops at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort in addition to Magic Kingdom and the TTC. You can also grab a monorail that will take you from the TTC to EPCOT. Keep a lookout for the new feature! Disney World Monorail Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news! 4. Something new has popped up around Disney World and it’s already made quite an impression on us! New ice pop! Disney World has sent us through an entire rollercoaster of emotions lately between some of our favorite snacks being taken away overnight from menus, and the addition of brand new options we’ve tried that pushed the envelope of our thinking. But if you were in search of the perfect snack on a hot summer day that really makes your mouth water in the best way, you’ll need to head over to where the wild things are to find it! While taking a stroll through Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a day of rides, character meet and greets, and let’s face it — Disney World food — we happened upon a new offering we weren’t familiar with. Disney’s Animal Kingdom As we started to make our way through Discovery Island visiting all of the animals and taking in the sights and sounds, we wandered over to the resident snack carts in search of a sweet treat. As we glanced over our options, something new caught our attention — and we knew we had to have it RIGHT AWAY! Menu selections Disney’s Animal Kingdom snack carts now offer Frollies Watermelon Fruity Ice Pops for $6 each. These little popsicle snacks come individually wrapped, and as the name implies, they have a fun watermelon slice shape. While the pop itself is mostly one piece, there are a few milk chocolate dots that serve as “seeds” for the watermelon, which we found to be a fun touch. Frollie’s Watermelon Fruity Ice Pop While they might not look like much at first, these fruity pops pack lots of flavor into a small pop! The main slice of the watermelon is very on the nose for a candy watermelon flavor. The real surprise came in the form of when you bite into the chocolate “seeds” and they snap in your mouth (unless they’ve had time to melt in the sun before you get to them). The ending green rind to the watermelon pop’s flavor struck us with a bit of pucker power, though, because it tasted like a sour green apple popsicle, which was a nice break from being one solid note of an ice pop. Watermelon Fruity Ice Pop Surprisingly, these little things hold up well against the sun’s heat, and only after we had our popsicle out in the sun for a while did it start to drip and eventually melt on us. While we wish this was bigger, the price isn’t so bad to pay for what you get, and we could see this being a great alternative for kids to lick as opposed to a super melty DOLE Whip or ice cream treat. Stood up to the sun fairly well While they might be new now, there’s no telling how long they’ll be sticking around and if they could be offered in Disney World’s other parks soon. For the meantime, though, if you’re wanting to grab one of these and try it for yourself, it’s best to plan to do that when you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom soon. Ice pop or true watermelon slice? Has this ice pop got your mouth watering? There’s plenty more Disney World treats and snacks we’ve tried recently and can’t wait to tell you all about them! 5. Guests who visit Walt Disney World have access to an entire city-sized network of free transportation, from buses and monorails to boats and aerial gondolas. There’s a lot of ground to cover and no shortage of ways Disney helps guests travel across its property — whether to one of Disney World’s four theme parks, two water parks, more than 25 hotels, Disney Springs, more than 525 eateries and more. Disney World has a team of more than 3,500 transportation cast members, not including hundreds of engineers and maintenance cast working behind the scenes to ensure every vehicle in the fleet is ready to move the tens of thousands of guests who use Disney transportation every day. “We’re one of the most-visited vacation destinations in the world, and we spend a lot of time thinking about how to get everyone where they need to go,” said Ketan Sardeshmukh, Director of Transportation Operations at Disney World. “We’re always looking at ways to move people safely and efficiently, while also creating the easiest, fastest and friendliest experience possible.” Disney Monorails The Walt Disney World Monorail System has transported hundreds of millions of guests since it first opened in October 1971, with an annual ridership of about 22 million. A fan favorite for more than 50 years, Disney cast continue to find new ways to keep the experience fresh for guests. To celebrate the resort’s 50th anniversary, Disney engineers designed a feature that illuminates the beam underneath each train at night. This week, they’re adding another new feature, which allows the logo on each train to glow in the dark. Disney Boats Like the monorail, boats have been around since day one at Disney World. 36 different vessels carry guests around Seven Seas Lagoon to the Magic Kingdom, across Crescent Lake to Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, and through Village Lake to Disney Springs daily. Each Disney World ferryboat can transport up to 600 passengers to and from Magic Kingdom per trip. They share the waterways with two other kinds of boats: motor cruisers and motor launches. The motor launches — often referred to as water taxis — have been in service since Disney World first opened in 1971. Across Disney World’s property, there are two other areas of watercraft transportation: FriendShip Boats and the Sassagoula River Cruise. FriendShip Boats sail between EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and several surrounding resorts. These boats were an opening-day attraction at EPCOT, starting their service on Oct. 1, 1982. The Sassagoula River Cruise offers transportation between select resorts – like Port Orleans French Quarter – and Disney Springs. With 15 boats, the Sassagoula River Cruise has 13 more vessels than the New Orleans RTA, which transports passengers to and from the real French Quarter, according to the French Quarter Journal. Disney Buses Last year alone, Disney buses transported 73 million guests. According to the Federal Transit Administration NTD report, Disney World ranks third in the United States for bus riders per square mile of service, only behind New York City and San Francisco. In fact, Disney’s bus network outpaces many metropolitan areas around the country with more than 420 buses in the fleet. Disney Skyliner Disney Skyliner is the newest mode of complimentary transportation at Disney World. This 300-cabin aerial gondola system has made a big impact in the five years since it opened. The system connects EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and four resorts that accommodate nearly every family size and budget. 7. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom has debuted some new food items, and we are stopping by to check them out! While Cosmic Ray’s doesn’t usually end up in our favorite restaurants in Magic Kingdom, we can never say no to some new Disney food. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe We are constantly reviewing restaurants and checking out new food items so you can have the most up-to-date information for your next Disney World vacation. Let’s dive into these new eats at Cosmic Ray’s! We started off with the Hand-dipped Fried Chicken Sandwich for $13.19. It is made with chicken breast with honey mustard sauce and pickles on a brioche bun served with french fries. We are gonna be real, this wasn’t the best chicken sandwich we have had at Disney World. But, it also wasn’t the worst. The chicken was juicy, and pickle lovers will love that the patty was covered in long pickles. Hand-dipped Fried Chicken Sandwich The chicken’s coating was crispy and fluffy, reminding us of the coating you might find on fish and chips. However, the sandwich wasn’t very flavorful. There was a sauce, but it was hard to taste while you were eating the sandwich. We mostly tasted the chicken, and we wish there was more flavor going on. Hand-dipped Fried Chicken Sandwich Next up, we tried the Classic Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken for $11.99. The salad features mixed greens with tomato, cucumber, croutons, shredded Monterey jack, and house-made ranch dressing. Hand-dipped Fried Chicken Sandwich. You can also get this salad with chicken tenders. The lettuce tasted fresh and had a great crispiness to it. The tomato and cucumber also tasted very fresh. Classic Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken The salad is served with the dressing already on it and it is mixed together. The grilled chicken was cold and juicy, which is a very welcome treat when you have been out in the heat all day. The croutons are larger pieces, and they have a light seasoning on them. We thought the salad was a great portion size, too. It likely won’t be the best salad you have ever had, but if you are looking for something lighter this could be a great option. Classic Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken Finally, we also grabbed the Truffle-French Onion Burger for $14.99. It features an Angus beef patty with braised beef-caramelized onion confit, Swiss cheese, parmesan, crispy onions, and black garlic-truffle aїoli served with french fries. We were so impressed with this burger! The patty was moist, and it was covered in a creamy sauce. Truffle-French Onion Burger The sauce had some acid with a bit of vinegar taste to it and tastes like a creamy mayo. You also get a fair amount of truffle flavor from it. It is not an overwhelming truffle flavor, but you can definitely tell it is there. The braised beef-caramelized onion confit was tender and had huge chunks of meat in it. The burger is complete with some crispy onions that add a great crunchy texture. Truffle-French Onion Burger Overall, the Truffle-French Onion Burger was our favorite new addition by FAR. We were really impressed with it and think it is a great addition to the menu. The Fried Chicken Sandwich and Ranch Salad were just okay. We won’t be rushing back anytime soon to grab them, but we still enjoyed eating them. New Menu Items Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney food news! 8. BIG things are happening in Magic Kingdom in Disney World. Magic Kingdom Astro Orbiter just got a bit of a facelift in Tomorrowland. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing a massive refurbishment. A Villains Land will soon be constructed behind that ride. We also can’t forget that a Cars expansion, Piston Peak, is coming to Frontierland, and soon, that means that some Magic Kingdom attractions will be closing forever. To make way for Piston Peak, Disney confirmed that it would be closing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. This also affects the Liberty Square Riverboat. Recently, Disney confirmed that these attractions would permanently close on July 7th, which is coming up soon. That means the last day to ride Liberty Square Riverboat and see Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America will be on July 6th. Rivers of America Disney will then begin construction on Piston Peak, a new land themed to Cars that will add two new rides to Frontierland. Some of the changes happening at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be meant to help it blend into that new area seamlessly. Piston Peak ©Disney Disney has not provided any kind of opening timeline for Piston Peak, so we have no idea how long this work will take, but it seems like a LOT of work is happening, so we don’t think we’ll see the new Cars expansion to Frontierland anytime soon. We know that work on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will extend through at the least the end of this year, though, although it’s likely it will reopen in 2026 with the new updates. Construction at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Magic Kingdom updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 10. For nearly 43 years, a visit to Spaceship Earth has ushered us to the top of the 180-foot-tall geodesic sphere while thanking the ancient Phoenicians and dreaming up our futuristic lives in an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Today, join Laura and Rain from the Disney Parks Blog team as we take you inside GEO-82, the new 21+ Spaceship Earth lounge that immerses us in the flavors, views, and legacy that shape present-day EPCOT. Looking ahead to the Spaceship Earth facade from the GEO-82 lobby Looking ahead to the Spaceship Earth facade from the GEO-82 lobby Looking ahead to the Spaceship Earth facade from the GEO-82 lobby Ascending Into the Future As we arrived at GEO-82 (near the Spaceship Earth post-show exit), our bright park surroundings were transformed via a softly curving hallway of warm metallics and subdued lighting, setting the tone for an escape into the futuristic lounge. Here, we took in the glittering staircase, reminiscent of the spiraling ascent riders take toward the starry top of Spaceship Earth. All-too eager for bites and sips, we opted for the nearby elevator and were soon stepping into the intimate lobby of GEO-82. The gold and bronze hues throughout the lobby and lounge offered an innovative, yet warm interpretation of a futuristic aesthetic. Amid comfortable leather seating, vintage-style prints of Spaceship Earth, EPCOT fireworks and the Monorail lined the walls. Get up close and personal with the legendary Spaceship Earth facade We can’t over-emphasize the stroll to your table — here you’ll pass a life-sized Spaceship Earth facade, imitating the 11,324 Alucobond tiles that make up the sphere’s iconic exterior. At your feet, twinkling lights shine, reminding us of the glimmering points that dotted the ground of a Future World past. Looking out to World Celebration Gardens and World Showcase from GEO-82Inside GEO-82 Entering the GEO-82 lounge, we were treated to a sweeping view of World Celebration Gardens, with World Showcase in the distance. In the lounge, mid-century modern-style furniture, soft music, and continued warm metallic tones flowed through the space. Guests will be able to make GEO-82 reservations for special seatings to watch the nighttime spectacular, “Luminous The Symphony of Us.” As the show unfolds in harmony with the color-changing lights throughout World Celebration Gardens and on Spaceship Earth, the inside of GEO-82 will also change. The full musical score will play, and the lounge lighting will dim during the show to create a fully immersive experience. A Walk Through the Garden and the Peach Shrub Whisky Smash with a sweet surpriseElevated Cocktails and Zero-Proof Cocktails Make sure you ask the team at GEO-82 about the different cocktails and zero-proof cocktails. One of our favorite parts was hearing about the complexity behind each beverage. Every element of these futuristic concoctions was well thought out. From the in-house created Lime Cordial syrup for the High Brow Batanga to the geodesic sphere-stamped ice cubes in the Brown Butter Old-Fashioned, no detail was left behind. They even had a fun GEO-82 Cocktail Key that showed you how each beverage was going to be prepared. We kept flipping back and forth from the menu to the key to discover the exact glassware, ice and preparation required for our selected beverages. Shaken? Stirred? Large ice cube or sphere? We loved deciphering how our beverage would look before we even ordered. GEO-82 Cocktail Key provides additional details about the drink preparation Plus, for American whiskey lovers who want to try a few options during their visit, the team also selected four unique bourbons for an exclusive Disney Select Bourbon Flight: Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Woodford Reserve Private Barrel Blanton’s Gold Single Barrel Stagg Private Barrel Talk about perfect pairings! This drink and accompanying surprise are a symbol of the amazing collaboration happening at GEO-82Peach Shrub Whisky Smash Evan Rosenthal, Food and Beverage Concept Manager, was on-hand to recommend the Peach Shrub Whisky Smash to get a true taste of the collaborative spirit at GEO-82, “If there is a single drink that showcases the concept of this lounge, it is the peach shrub whisky smash.” With Toki Suntory Whisky, Lustau Amontillado Sherry, peach and mint shrub, and bubbles, the Peach Shrub Whisky Smash was a refreshing option to enjoy on a hot summer day while relaxing with a friend. Evan went on to tell us how the Peach Shrub Whisky Smash was so essential to the harmony between the kitchen dishes and the cocktails served at the bar. “We had all these beautiful peaches and mint that we macerated overnight — the sugar brings out all those juices which we made the shrub from.” The sherry and peach preserves were soon in the hands of Chef Robby Sayles, Chef de Cuisine – Concept Development at Walt Disney World. Inspired by the drink, Robby whipped up a very special sweet surprise to accompany each Peach Shrub Whisky Smash order. Taking Zero-Proof Cocktails to the Next Level The GEO-82 menu offers two zero-proof drinks with very different flavor profiles. To ramp up your park day energy, the Manhattan in the Morning delivers a coffee kick balanced with smooth tart cherry and walnut bitters. Meanwhile, A Walk Through the Garden is the perfect afternoon sip; a bright and refreshing glass of bubbly citrus with a decorative spray of fennel and lemon slice. A Walk Through the Garden The sun was high on our EPCOT afternoon, so we tried A Walk Through the Garden for a lush cool down. It has Seedlip Garden 108 Non-Alcoholic Spirit, basil, fennel, lemon, Hella Cocktail Co. Orange Bitters, The Bitter Truth Celery Bitters, and sparkling bubbles. 13. Are you ready to face your destiny…as in, the Disney Destiny? Cruella on the Disney Destiny Showcase Disney Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship will officially set sail on its maiden voyage on November 20th, and we’ve already learned quite a bit about the new ship. The theme will be heroes and villains, which, of course, means you can expect to see some of Disney’s most iconic villains onboard. However, one of those villains, Cruella de Vil, is getting her very own piano lounge on the ship — and Disney just shared more details about that lounge. De Vil’s Piano Lounge is a “lavish affair” with decor inspired by Disney’s 101 Dalmatians animated film and the 2021 live-action movie, Cruella. Disney described it as having a Hollywood Regency-inspired aesthetic.” Inside the lounge, you’ll be able to enjoy trendy martinis, chic cocktails, and glamorous wine and bubbly. Idea of cocktails and glasses at De Vil’s Just beyond the ship’s Grand Hall, you’ll see the lounge’s marquee, which spells out “De Vil’s” in letters that look like piano keys. As you enter the lounge, a floor mosaic will say “How Marvelous,” taken from Cruella’s infamous catchphrase. The letters will be surrounded by 15 paw prints. ©Disney Inside, you’ll see Cruella’s flair for style and “wickedly bold attitude.” The furnishings will have unique shapes and a “luxurious feel with rich textures and couture fabrics” in black and white with red accents. The carpet will have an ink-splotched design hand-drawn as a tribute to Ken Anderson, the artist who oversaw the designs of the characters in the animated 101 Dalmatians. Disney Destiny event introducing De Vil’s The focal point of the lounge will be a spotted piano. Want an idea of what it will look like? Disney shared the piano’s pattern as a teaser: ©Disney We hope to learn more about De Vil’s as we get closer to the Disney Destiny’s sail date, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 14. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) recently released information for its meeting on June 27th, 2025. The agenda includes a public hearing on amendments to the district’s current comprehensive plan, Comprehensive Plan 2045, which is intended to “provide the basis for future decisions regarding land use, development, conservation, and infrastructure.” Island Tower The plan serves as the district’s policy on land use. It provides a framework for expansion while “managing growth, protecting the environment, ensuring health and safety, and enhancing the quality of development.” The plan shows potential development and expansion over the next twenty years, but ONLY outlines potential development at Disney World. Just because the plan allows for specific development does not mean Disney will actually follow through with all of the approved development. The plan outlines the potential for constructing additional hotels, adding more minor and major theme parks, adding commercial space, and building offices/support facilities. Within the plan’s land use analysis section, we got a hint that Disney likely won’t stop building new hotels anytime soon. The plan indicates that on an average day in 2023, the district accommodated about 85,000 overnight guests in its resorts. However, “because the demand for accommodations within the District frequently exceeds the supply, additional hotels and resort units will be construction by 2045.” ©CFTOD By 2045, average overnight guest population could reach as high as about 102,183 in 2025 and 139,461 in 2045 if Disney constructs all the hotels and resort units provided for in the maximum development thresholds and assuming an 85% occupancy rate. ©CFTOD Based on the plan, Disney World often has more demand for hotel rooms than it can accommodate, so it is likely we won’t see a slowdown on new hotels anytime soon. Disney is already hard at work constructing the new Lakeshore Lodge which is expected to open in 2027. This hotel will be a new Disney Vacation Club Resort hotel that is “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” It will occupy the former home of Disney’s River Country water park near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Lakeshore Lodge Construction It is very likely that Lakeshore Lodge will just be the beginning too, as Disney tries to keep up with demand for hotel rooms over the next twenty years. 16. One of our most beloved eats at EPCOT is GONE! Seriously, this thing is huge. If you were to stop and ask us where the BEST Disney World entree that doubles as a snack could be found in the entire park, we’d likely come back with a response that included the Pepperoni Pizza Roll from Sunshine Seasons. However, Disney World’s been on a mission lately to really shake things up with its menus, and it seems that this latest change has claimed a snack casualty that we won’t soon get over. We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but it’s more fitting that you hear it from us than find out on your own. We recently noticed a MAJOR menu change at one of our staple EPCOT restaurants, and our hearts were instantly shattered. Sunshine Seasons has been a restaurant of respite and a place to pick up one of our tried and true eats in all of Disney World, but it’s recently come off the menu. We ventured over to Sunshine Seasons to find out what had happened to our beloved Pepperoni Pizza Roll, only to find it’s been replaced with a different version of Pepperoni cheesiness. Sunshine Seasons As we made our way up to the counter to place what would have been our usual order of a pizza roll, our gaze towards the menu was met with the new item glaring right at us. In its place, you’ll now find the Pepperoni Flatbread for $12.29. This updated version of a take on pepperoni pizza served as a flatbread comes precut into slices, and is served with your choice of a bag of chips or a side salad. Menu board Well, since this is a completely different look to our beloved snack, we figured we needed to at least give it a fighting chance, so we picked up an order. When browsing the menu, we noticed the kids’ meal offering had also changed, and we were told by the chefs working behind the counter that the kids’ meal version of the flatbread is half of what the adult portion is. Pepperoni Flatbread and bag of chips At first glance, it’s a fairly hefty portion for the price, so we can’t take too much issue with getting a good value out of the change. Taking a closer look at it, this pizza is covered in creamy mozzarella cheese and a handful of greasy pepperoni just waiting to be devoured. The flatbread itself didn’t look too thick, and in our heads, we were prepared for it to taste just like other Disney World flatbreads we’ve had at other restaurants (looking at you, Pinocchio Village Haus). Pepperoni Flatbread Before we get too ahead of ourselves, this time we opted for a bag of Lay’s Potato Chips, which did their job as a light, crunchy option to accompany the pizza. While the bag is snack size, it’s enough to have a feel of salty chips to go with a bigger entree, and we weren’t disappointed with our choice. Chips So, we mustered our courage and decided to pull a piece up to take a bite. And honestly…it wasn’t all that bad. Granted, it’s not the same cheesy, pepperoni-filled pizza roll we’ve come to know and love from this restaurant, but overall, this pizza wasn’t all that bad. The flatbread wasn’t overly greasy, and the dough tasted like it was relatively fresh. Slice of flatbread Overall, the pizza’s layer of melted mozzarella cheese, peppered with slices of thinly cut pepperoni on top of the saucy flatbread, made for an overall familiar bite to eat. Was it earth-shatteringly good? NOPE. But, in fairness, we weren’t entirely expecting it to be, but we’ve had worse-tasting Disney World flatbreads elsewhere. While our hearts grieve for such an iconic loss, it’s safe to say that you’ll still get a solid option in choosing this new version of pepperoni pizza (despite our cries for the roll to return to the menu). 17. Okay, so we know a lot of folks are currently planning their Disney World trips for 2026. After Hours at Magic Kingdom Maybe you’ve even already figured out your budget, booked your hotel, and picked out which tickets you need. If you’re looking for something a little different, though, you might want to consider After Hours events — limited ticketed events that happen after the parks close, giving you three hours in the parks with shorter lines for everything, plus free drinks and snacks. If you’re interested, Disney just confirmed that After Hours for Magic Kingdom will return in 2026. Disney World recently confirmed that After Hours events will be returning to Magic Kingdom in 2026, although no dates for the events have been given yet. In the past, After Hours events have been held in Magic Kingdom from January through mid-May, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for dates. After Hours at Magic Kingdom So here’s how it works: you’ll pay for a ticket just FOR After Hours in Magic Kingdom, which generally start at 10 PM and run through 1 AM. However, you’ll be able to get into the park three hours before the event begins, or at 7 PM. Your ticket includes access to much shorter lines for rides (as tickets for After Hours are limited), as well as being able to visit Magic Kingdom with far fewer crowds. Fewer crowds at After Hours events! Your ticket also gets you free select snacks and drinks, including ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select bottled beverages. These snacks and drinks will be available at carts throughout the park. Other snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase at select locations throughout the park. 18. If you’ve been considering a Disney World trip for 2025, heads up: You may want to keep your calendar open for late this year. Cinderella Castle According to a report in the Orlando Business Journal, several Central Florida counties are expecting visitor levels and tourism to “level off” as the year goes on. According to the outlet, “Osceola County’s updated tourist development tax monthly projection collection numbers for April to September for fiscal-year 2025 are expected to be down by 5.06%-6.21% over the year. For example, collections for the tax on hotels and short-term rentals for the county in March reached $8.8 million, down 5% compared to the year-ago period.” Even given these projected numbers, Osceola’s total hotel tax collections are expected to be down only slightly for the year, projected to be $81.24 million for fiscal 2025 compared to $81.35 million in 2024. This is attributable to 2025 starting comparatively strong. Welcome to Disney World! In addition, Experience Kissimmee’s advance vacation bookings for June-September show a 15% increase for vacation homes, while hotel demand is down by about 1% from last year, and in Orlando, advance hotel bookings from May-July are pacing 1% behind the same time period last year, while short-term rentals in the same timeframe are ahead 15% year-over-year. According to travel forecast firm Tourism Economics, these numbers are symptoms of larger issues, including inflation, political strife, and travel restrictions that have several impacted international travel, leading the firm to downgrade growth projections for their 2025-26 U.S. hotel forecast at the start of June. Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel In a news release, Aran Ryan — the director of industry studies at Tourism Economics — said, “We’re looking ahead to a second half of the year with consumers facing higher prices and a weaker labor market, businesses tapping the brakes on investment and soft international visitor volumes. While recession risks have eased, the economy — and the travel sector — will walk on a tight rope through this period.” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings seconded the thought that political issues could lead to negative effects on tourism, saying, “We believe, however, that our tourism numbers will continue to be strong, based on hotel booking numbers. As we move closer to next year, we will have to see if those numbers continue to remain strong.” Is Orlando about to see less tourists? If these numbers and projections prove accurate, there maybe be more hotel room availability than normal at Disney World later this year and into 2026, despite the company saying “bookings are up in the summer right now, and we’re certainly feeling positive. The outlook is good in that regard” during an an earnings call earlier this year. This may be why the company has offered unprecedented (in post-COVID times) discounts over the last several months. Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios If you’re considering a Disney World trip, the second half of 2025 may be a good time to jump on it, as projections indicate that political and economic issues could lead to a slowdown at the resort and the surrounding area.
