  1. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this summer, one popular Magic Kingdom ride could be opening soon (fingers crossed)! Magic Kingdom It has been a year of ride closures at Disney World as Disney prepares for many big changes in the future. The closures have been taking up so many headlines that the opening of this Magic Kingdom ride has gone under the radar. We think a popular ride could be opening very soon, and we have good reason to think that! You may have noticed we’ve been covering the progress of Astro Orbiter since it closed in January 2025 (we just miss it, ok?!). From the whole ride missing, to slow but steady work being done, we are READY for this ride to return to Tomorrowland. Nearly half a year later, it looks like the end is in sight! Tomorrowland We know what you’re thinking. Is there an official opening date? To that we say, no…BUT we recently went to Magic Kingdom and saw something promising. There were Cast Members testing the ride. This is not a drill; the ride is active and moving! Astro Orbiter We don’t know about you, but this ride is finally looking complete to us. After six months, the attraction is looking back to its normal self. You could see how good it looked from the ground, but we had to get on the PeopleMover to get an even better view! We could see the ride in full motion, looking better than ever. We also noticed that the ride sounded a lot quieter than before — though note they weren’t moving the rockets up and down. The rockets! It looks like Cast Members have been testing the ride on and off for a few days now, so we feel like we’re so close to its reopening. We’re not the only eager Disney fans! We spotted other guests at the park, wondering if it was back up and running. In fact, a Cast Member had to stand at the bottom of the ride near the elevator to let them know the ride is still closed. We’re READY But when one door (re)opens, another one closes. The Astro Orbiter will be reopening, but Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square River Boat will be permanently closing. With the new Cars-themed land coming, Magic Kingdom is reworking that area of Frontierland. The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will be permanently closing on July 7th, making the last day of operation July 6th. Magic Kingdom Lots of changes continue to be underway at the Magic Kingdom, so there’s lots to look out for. We’re thinking we should be getting an opening date announcement for Astro Orbiter soon, so we’ll keep an eye out. 3. Did you know there are a TON of spots in Disney World to grab churros other than the normal snack stands? Not only that, but Disney has some hidden snack spots with BETTER churros than the classic variety you may be familiar with in Disney World. Guava and Cheese Churro It’s true! While regular Disney World churros are not quite as good as the famous Disneyland churros, there are some other spots around Disney World that serve great churros, such as Nomad Lounge, Sunshine Churros, and the Churro Waffles at Crystal Palace breakfast. Oh, and there’s even a family-style churro offering at one spot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but are they truly worth the price? We found out! Over at Eight Spoon Cafe in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can grab the Family Churros for $15.99. These are twenty-one bite-sized churros with sprinkles, caramel sauce, and chocolate dipping sauce. Family Churros Overall, these were…fine. These were fine. In our opinion, they’re a little better than big, long Disney World churros, but nowhere near as good as Disneyland churros. They’re pretty inconsistent in size, color, fry level, and texture. Some were chewy while others were crispy, which wasn’t ideal as churros connoisseurs. So many churros There’s a LOT of sugar here. Between both of the sugary sauces, sprinkles, and the sugar on the churros, this is definitely not something you want to eat alone! The chocolate was very fake-tasting, kind of like chocolate syrup instead of a ganache or melted chocolate. The caramel is mostly sugary without much caramel flavor, although it was smoother and richer than the chocolate to us. It was way too weak for us This is a pretty good deal for a snack and great if you want churros, but it’s very messy, and we don’t know if we’d put it in our top five or even top ten recommended snacks at Animal Kingdom. But, if you’re looking at this from a bang-for-your-buck perspective, this is a LOT of food! The caramel wasn’t the best either Looking for more recent reviews from the Disney parks? 4. Y’all. We love visiting the EPCOT-area resorts and Disney’s BoardWalk. Why? Well, some of our favorite restaurants and snack spots are there! There’s the often-underrated Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, the uniquely themed AbracadaBar on the BoardWalk, and Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. And how can we forget the recent additions of The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs? Disney’s BoardWalk Inn However, one place we don’t talk about a lot is the BoardWalk Pizza Window. That’s mostly because it’s mostly just pizza. But believe it or not, you can get a sweet treat here that might just surprise you. A new addition to the BoardWalk Pizza Window is a Cannoli. Now, we’ve seen mini cannoli here before, but this is a regular-sized version of the treat for $5.29. We’ll admit that we think Disney cannoli is generally lacking, but this one surprised us. First, it’s got a Mickey in chocolate on one side. The icing inside is also nice with a slightly lemon flavor, along with the chocolate chips stuffed into it. That’s all wrapped in a cannoli shell with a thin layer of milk chocolate on the inside. Cute Mickey on one end We were also surprised at how well this treat stood up in the heat. It’s also a nice break from super sweet snacks. It’s light. It’s also just a little over $5, and considering the more expensive snacks you can get nearby, like those at The Cake Bake Shop, it’s a great value. So, yep, this cannoli is SOLID. Inside WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose, but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! 5. There have been quite a few changes over the years in how Disney handles hotel security, and it’s definitely something guests should know before checking in. Port Orleans — French Quarter No, there’s no one hiding in the closet or installing secret spy cameras in your bathroom. But yes, there is someone who might enter your room even if you hang up the sign that says otherwise. Let’s talk about room snoopers — and whether or not you should actually be concerned. Disney Changed Its Door Hangers — and That’s a Bigger Deal Than You’d Think You might remember the old “Do Not Disturb” signs that used to hang from the knobs at Disney resort hotels. Those are long gone. Now, you’ll find signs that say “Room Occupied” instead. It’s a subtle wording shift, but it changes how things work in a big way. Room Occupied In the past, if you put up that “Do Not Disturb” sign, housekeeping would skip your room completely. No knock. No entry. Now, the “Room Occupied” sign lets Disney know someone’s inside and would prefer privacy, but it doesn’t guarantee it. In fact, a Cast Member is required to enter your room at least once every 24 hours, even if you turn down housekeeping altogether. Wait — Why Is Disney Doing This? This all goes back to a security policy change made a few years ago. After a tragic incident at a Las Vegas hotel where a “Do Not Disturb” room was left unchecked for days, hotel companies across the country — including Disney — updated their policies to require wellness or security checks in each room at least once per day. Room Occupied So now, whether you’re staying at Pop Century or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, a Cast Member will stop by and make sure everything looks safe. It doesn’t necessarily mean someone will barge in without warning. Most of the time, they’ll knock and announce themselves. But if no one answers, or if there’s any reason for concern, they’re allowed to come in. So Who’s Actually Entering the Rooms? Usually, it’s Housekeeping. But if you’ve declined Mousekeeping services for the day (yes, that’s really what they call it), it could be a specially trained Cast Member just doing a quick room check. They’re not there to dig through your stuff or creep around. It’s more of a visual sweep — just making sure nothing seems off. ©Disney These visits are quick, and in most cases, completely unremarkable. But for some guests, especially those who value privacy or are traveling with sensitive items, it can feel a little invasive. What About the “Hey Disney” Device in the Room? We’ve heard this one a lot — people are already a little on edge about the new “Hey Disney” smart assistant that’s been installed in many resort hotel rooms. Yes, it works like an Alexa, and yes, it’s always listening for its wake word — but not for everything you say. Hey, Disney! If that still makes you uncomfortable, the good news is that it’s totally optional. You can unplug it, and Disney won’t be offended. No one’s taking notes on how many times you ask for towel refills or park hours. Should You Be Worried? Worried? Not exactly. But aware? Absolutely. This is one of those Disney World trip details that rarely gets mentioned in travel blogs or planning guides, but it’s important to know what to expect. You should feel safe in your room, but you should also understand that total privacy isn’t guaranteed, even with that door hanger in place. Deluxe Studio If you’re not comfortable with someone entering your room while you’re not there, you can talk to the front desk and ask for a heads-up when room checks are happening. Some guests have had luck requesting a specific time for the daily check (though it’s not guaranteed). And if you’re inside the room when the Cast Member comes by, you can simply let them do a quick visual check while you’re present. The Bottom Line Disney’s not snooping just for fun, and there’s no Big Brother-style surveillance going on. This is all about safety — yours and everyone else’s. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a little jarring if you don’t know about it ahead of time. So if you’re planning your next Disney World stay and expecting a locked-door, total-privacy experience… maybe adjust your expectations a bit. 6. We love Disney, but some of our hotel experiences have made us question our sanity. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort You can plan the perfect trip, score the dining reservations, and even time your park days like a pro — but none of it matters if your hotel stay turns into a full-on disaster. Over the years, we’ve had a few downright awful experiences at Disney World resorts, and today we’re sharing five that we still haven’t recovered from. These are the stories that live rent-free in our heads anytime someone says “it’s worth the splurge” or “you should try it one more time. The Grand Floridian This one still stings. For one of our team members, they were celebrating their son’s birthday and decided to go all out at Disney’s flagship resort. When they opened the door to our room, the first thing that hit them was the smell, like wet dog that had been living in there for a week. The carpets were stained, the furniture was scuffed beyond repair, and there was an actual chunk missing from the headboard. They took pictures and went straight to guest services. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort The response? “What do you want me to do about it? We’re booked full.” That came from the manager. They eventually “found” them another room, but it was hours later, well after they got back from the Magic Kingdom. They left milk and cookies as some sort of apology (because it was December), but the damage was done. Grand Floridian Front Desk The same team member gave the resort one more chance on a short trip — a one-night stay. Big mistake. They didn’t get their room assignment until after the fireworks. That’s right. Nothing until almost 10PM. The Cast Members blamed them for not doing online check-in, even though they had. Three times. It “just didn’t take,” apparently. At this point, the Grand Floridian is permanently off their list. Caribbean Beach: Beautiful, But Not Worth It Caribbean Beach Resort has charm. The Skyliner access is great. The pool is gorgeous. But none of that helps when a Cast Member walks into your room without knocking while you’re bathing your kids. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort This happened to one of our team members on check-out day. The kids wanted one last swim before we left, so they were getting ready in the room. It wasn’t even close to check-out time yet — they had at least an hour left. They’d put the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. Still, someone just walked right in while they were still bathing the kids. No knock. No warning. Just opened the door and came in. And that was the last time they stayed there. All-Star Resorts During Cheer Season = No Sleep Ever We get that Disney hosts a lot of events and competitions, and we don’t fault the cheerleaders for being excited. But if you’ve ever booked a stay at one of the All-Star Resorts during competition season, you already know where this is going. Crowds There is yelling. The constant noise. Inside the rooms. Outside in the walkways. In the food court. At 6AM and 1AM. It doesn’t stop. We’ve had multiple stays where we got maybe three hours of sleep each night — and we’re not light sleepers. There’s just no peace and quiet when you’re surrounded by large groups of kids rehearsing routines in the hallways. Unless you’re there for the competition too, we’d suggest avoiding All-Stars during those weeks entirely. Art of Animation: Where Are My Bags and My Bed? Art of Animation is one of our favorite themed resorts, but one of our team members’ first stays there was rough. They checked in late one night, between 11PM and midnight. Since they’d requested a rollaway and had bags that needed to be delivered to the room, they figured they’d be able to settle in pretty quickly. That did not happen. Art of Animation They waited. And waited. And waited some more. Their pajamas and bags didn’t show up until around 2:30AM. The rollaway? Same deal. That night turned into a long, grumpy mess. Granted, this was back in 2018, and we haven’t had issues at AoA since, but it was still one of those nights where we wished we’d just stayed off-property and saved ourselves the hassle. The Bottom Line We’ve stayed at a lot of Disney resorts over the years, and for the most part, things go smoothly. But when things go wrong, they can really go wrong. Whether it’s broken check-in systems, surprise walk-ins, noise at all hours, or rooms that feel like they haven’t been deep-cleaned since the Eisner era, some stays are just not worth the price. That’s why we always tell folks to research the timing of their stay, double-check everything at check-in, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right. And sometimes, it’s okay to say “never again” and stick to it. Art of Animation Resort Remember, the truth is that some of these things can happen at any hotel, even at Disney. We’ve also heard plenty of great experiences at each of the resorts we mentioned — these were just our personal worst-case scenarios. Your stay could be totally different (and hopefully much smoother). Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? 8. Disneyland is busy right now! Disneyland! The original Disney theme park turns 70 this year, and to celebrate, the resort has gone all out! There are tons of new entertainment offerings, food options, and nighttime spectaculars for the festivities. Yeah, there is lots of fun going on, but now, Disneyland is going viral…and it’s not really for the best of reasons. I’m here to give my honest opinion on the viral (expensive!!!) Disney Princess Breakfast! Disneyland finds itself going viral pretty frequently. Sometimes it’s for fun, sweet, or exciting reasons, and then sometimes it’s for, well, not-so-good reasons, like what’s happening right now. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, over on X, one user shared his bill from the Grand California’s Princess Breakfast Adventures, and the internet was shocked, to say the least. Disney’s Grand Californian User @jrockandrollt shared that his total bill for three adults and two kids at the Grand Californian was $937.65. That is just shy of $1,000 for a family of five to have breakfast…and just typing that out has my chest feeling heavy. That number does include the $150 tip; however, it was only slightly above the 20% recommended tip. The Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure For all of the expected reasons, this post has gone pretty viral online, with people reacting to the high restaurant receipt. One user even wrote, “Please tell me you have 35 kids” before the original poster confirmed the bill was for a party of five. Our team has actually dined at this same breakfast, and I have some thoughts. Princess Aurora! My initial thought was…”Yeah. That checks out.” As much as it stinks, this is considered a Character Dining Event, and knowing Disney the way I do, I wasn’t shocked to see the total. Don’t misunderstand me; I think it’s an insane total, but as a certified Disney Adult, I know that character dining is going to cost you more. Princess Adventure Breakfast check-in The dining experience includes photos with the princesses, including Belle, Mulan, Aurora, and more. When our team has attended this breakfast, we’ve always found that the character interactions felt more personal and intentional compared to the in-park meet-and-greets. This is also a prix fixe dining experience that serves three courses throughout the meal. Ariel! In our experience, for the first course, we got a three-tier tower of appetizers that has coconut cookies & cream chia parfait, mini lobster rolls, beignets, banana wrap, and cornbread. Lobster Roll The second course includes chicken and Mickey waffles or house-made mac & cheese and bacon for kids. For adults, you can choose from several items, including scrambled eggs, maple turkey sausage with caramelized pears and figs, breakfast deviled eggs, braised short ribs with balsamic cipollini onions, truffle mac & cheese, and roasted rainbow carrots in a parsnip and celery root puree. Mickey waffles! Finally, for dessert, we got vanilla cake pops, sorbet, chocolate cream puffs, and pistachio macarons. For all three courses, the character meet and greet, and some small souvenirs at the end, it’s $142 per person. WOOF! This doesn’t include specialty drinks, like cocktails, beer, or wine. Dessert Course from previous years If I’m being honest, our team has truthfully found the food to be quite good! We enjoyed most of our options, but for that price tag, we had higher expectations. If it were totally up to me, no Disney character meal would cost $142 per person, and I say that as someone who loves the Disney Princesses! Belle at Princess Breakfast Adventures If you really, really, really love Disney Princesses, this might be perfect for you! This is a multicourse meal, which is nice and feels fancier, but I would still hope for more exciting and bold flavors. I can also see kids loving this spot because of the personalized character experiences, like Belle’s story time. Like we said, this is an EXPERIENCE, not just a regular character meal. 9. Even though it’s summer, we can still dream about Mickey pumpkins all around Magic Kingdom. Halloween in Disney World In Disney World, the fall brings Halloween to the park with delicious treats, festive decorations, and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! This separately ticketed event has a special parade, spooky fireworks, low wait times, fun character meet and greets, and so much more. However, this year there might be even fewer crowds than normal, and here’s why. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party saw price increases for 2025. Ticket prices vary by date, with more popular nights costing the most. This year, tickets range from $119 to $229! While the starting price is staying the same, the top price is higher than last year. In 2024, tickets cost between $119 and $199. That’s a $30 increase! 2024 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Right now, the only party date sold out for 2025 is October 31st — on Halloween night. This could be a sign that fewer people are willing to pay higher prices for the parties. It could also be that it is pretty early, and more parties could sell out closer to the fall. We can understand why Disney adults might be skipping the parties this year due to the price increase, as everything, everywhere, seems to be getting more expensive. Boo To You parade in 2024 Now, let’s talk about the holiday parties. While we don’t have all the information for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party yet, we can imagine that we will see ticket prices increase for these tickets, as well. We might also see increases for tickets to Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney will likely release information soon for both of these parties, including their dates and ticket prices. In 2024, adult tickets varied in price by date and ranged from $169 to $219 for MVMCP. For Jollywood tickets, ticket prices ranged from $159 to $179. 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party We will bring you the news when Disney releases more information on the holiday parties this year. 10. Walt Disney World has confirmed fresh details about the new nighttime parade coming to Magic Kingdom theme park. “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” steps off for the first time on July 20. Parade times will be 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., and it will start on Main Street then travel back to Frontierland, a reversal of the usual course for Magic Kingdom parades. This will “allow for better guest flow at the end of the night,” according to the official Disney Parks Blog. Not only will it be near the park’s closing time, some Disney fans have a habit of strolling behind the final float of parades, so the directional change may separate that throng from the folks leaving Magic Kingdom for the night. Disney also said that “Starlight” won’t happen on event nights for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, an after-hours, extra-ticket gathering that has its own parade. Not-So-Scary is held on select nights between Aug. 15 and Oct. 31. The company has released parade facts in dribs and drabs since it was announced at D23 Expo in August. The parade will have the Blue Fairy as a through line and guiding light, and the final float will feature Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Among the other characters seen in “Starlight” will be Peter Pan, Wendy, Asha, Mirabel, Isabela, Bruno, Elsa, Aurora, Tiana, Cinderella, Jasmine, Rapuznel, Belle, Beast, Prince Phillip, Prince Naveen, Prince Charming, Aladdin, Miguel, Moana and more. Social media posts indicate that work was done on parade floats in New York and California, new music was recorded in London and performer rehearsals have started in Florida. “Starlight” will be the first nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom since 2016, when the Main Street Electrial Parade rolled out for the last time. Anticipated demand for the new parade caused Disney World to alter the passholder reservation requirements. As of July 20, annual passholders must have park-specific reservations for Magic Kingdom every day. This is for a limited time, Disney says, and passholders will be able to go to Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom any day after 2 p.m. without park reservations. 11. Okay, so you already know we love food, but you might also know that we are BIG breakfast people. In fact, we wish breakfast was served at more Disney World restaurants ALL DAY long…but we’ll still get up early to grab a proper Disney breakfast (did someone say Mickey waffles?). Rix Sports Bar and Grill So when we found out that there were some NEW breakfast items over at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, we made a beeline over there to check it out. Join us as we head over to Rix Sports Bar and Grill to stuff our faces with the most important meal of the day. You may already know that the last time we had breakfast at Rix Sports Bar & Grill, we were extremely impressed with their Chicken Stuffed Waffles, which are Mickey Waffles stuffed with chicken (how could you not be impressed?!). Well, we got some brand-new breakfast items this time around, including the Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit Skillet. For $19, you get crispy chicken, a cheddar biscuit, and sausage gravy. Y’all. That was some good chicken. It wasn’t dry or greasy…it was perfectly fried: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The savory gravy was the perfect topping for it. Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit Skillet So you get two pieces of chicken and four biscuits. However, the biscuits were a little dry, although the gravy helped a little with that. We could’ve just been satisfied with just the chicken and the gravy, though. The chicken is the best part We also ordered the Floridian French Toast for $18. It’s “Sobao” bread filled with mascarpone, fig, orange jam, and topped with seasonal berries with lavender glaze. You also get your choice of breakfast meat as a side. Excuse us, but we’re going to need a moment to close our eyes and truly savor this thing. The toast is so soft and fluffy (like a CLOUD), and it’s sweet enough on its own that you don’t even need syrup. It comes served with powdered sugar, too, so there’s that. Floridian French Toast It almost tastes like a cinnamon bun, thanks to that mascarpone filling. The fresh fruit adds a nice balance to the sweetness. We also appreciated that there was a lot of fruit. So, how good was this French toast? Well, we’d travel all the way to Coronado Springs to get it again. This could be the best French toast in Disney World. Our new favorite French toast Okay, back to biscuit things… the Hot Honey Cheddar Biscuits are a new side that you can grab for $6. For that price, you get two biscuits. The honey gives the biscuits a nice sweet flavor, and the biscuits themselves are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Hot honey cheddar biscuits Then, of course, there’s that savory element with the biscuit and the cheese, and it all just works really well. SO good We also ordered up some drinks, including the Churro Iced Latte for $9. It’s served in a jar with a TON of whipped cream on top, sprinkled with cocoa…plus you get a churro. We’re giving it an A+ for presentation because it just looks like so much fun. It’s basically just an iced vanilla latte, but the churro treat and all that whipped cream takes it up a notch. It’s not anything super unique, save for the presentation, but it’s fun, and sometimes that’s what you need for breakfast. Churro Iced Latte What’s breakfast without a mimosa? Enter the new Sunrise Mimosa, made with Lunazul Reposado, Orange Juice, Grenadine, and Sparkling Champagne for $12.25. This drink even LOOKS like a sunrise. BUT…we didn’t like the flavors. It’s strong and sour, and we think we wanted something a little sweeter than what we got. Even after a quick stir, it still tasted…well, it packed a punch. It’s a little too much for breakfast, y’all. Sunrise Mimosa Then we had to try the Coco-Loco Espresso Martini (yep, this is yet ANOTHER spot you can get an espresso martini in Disney World). This one is made with Don Q Coconut Rum and Licor 43 shaken with rich espresso and a splash of sweet cream for $17. This is a GREAT breakfast drink. It’s not super strong, and it sort of tastes like a spiked cold hot cocoa. Coco-Loco Espresso Martini Now, the only problem with having breakfast at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is deciding what to order. We suggest bringing friends and ordering a bunch of things to share. Stay tuned to DFB for more. With DOZENS of places to eat at Disney World, we know it can be tough to plan your meals. 12. One of the hottest trends in travel right now is land snorkeling, which, it turns out, so-called Disney Adults have been doing for decades! Colorful bottles According to the New York Times, the term land snorkeling refers to the idea of “paying attention to where you are, not necessarily where you’re going. It encourages a focus on minute details, the way you might hover over a reef when snorkeling to view the comings and goings of tropical fish and the current’s effect on sea fans, while traveling. Artist Crystal Guzman described land snorkeling to the paper as such: “When you snorkel, you don’t go with a destination in mind but go with the water and let the visuals take over.“You wander and you wonder.” That type of experience probably sounds familiar to many Disney adults. Since Disneyland first opened 70 years ago and ushered in the era of theme parks, one of the main appeals of Disney’s parks has been the thematic immersion achieved by the various lands that Imagineers designed. Main Street at Disneyland At their best, the lands at Disney’s parks aren’t simply midways that lead to rides, but rather deeply immersive environments that bring guests into the worlds of their stories. So much so that many Disney Adults will often slowly make their way through each area. These guests take in all the meticulous details that make up everything from the original Main Street, U.S.A., all the way to modern IP-based additions like Galaxy’s Edge, eschewing the desire to simply rush from ride to ride, checking boxes off the map. Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios This desire to “land snorkel” around the parks is arguably why many fans are angry when areas like the Rivers of America are eliminated. An example of the current positioning of Liberty Square’s Haunted Mansion and the Rivers of America While the Rivers themselves were mainly aesthetic, and neither Tom Sawyer Island nor the Liberty Belle Riverboat provides massive thrills, they created an explorable vista that added a large amount of detail and color to the Magic Kingdom, with many believing they were the heart of the park. It remains to be seen if the upcoming Piston Peak area will have the same land snorkeling appeal to Disney World guests, though admittedly, the latest concept art released for the project does seem promising. Piston Peak ©Disney Disney Adults have been land snorkeling around the parks for decades, and are likely to continue to do so as Disney continues to build immersive and heavily detailed lands. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s parks. 6 Abandoned Places in EPCOT in Desperate Need of Life What are your thoguhts on land snorkeling? let us know in the comments below. 14. Disney’s streaming services are changing again. ©Disney Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN offer tons of movies, shows, and more for us to enjoy on the go and at home! This year, streaming services have been a big focus for the company, and this newest change marks a shift in what your streaming will look like. Disney+, HULU, and ESPN’s streaming platforms are changing again, and luckily, it’s not a price increase! According to Variety, Disney is working on adding virtual storefronts to their streaming platforms to make shopping easier. ©Disney Disney is hoping to “meld streaming and selecting” by adding these online stores where viewers can order snacks, shop for products, and more while watching movies, and shows. While streaming, you will be able to click through the stores when prompted by interactive ads. Disney+ Hulu bundle To create the online stores, Disney is partnering with Shopsense. They will be linking the virtual stores to the commercials shown on the platforms. The products offered will tie in to the content users are watching. They are also partnering with Gopuff, a digital delivery service, for viewers to order snacks, drinks, and candy. Want to order a Coke? Jamie Power, senior vice president of addressable sales for Disney, said, “I’m excited to see streaming ads finally being optimized for streaming, rather than just replicating the linear experience.” She continued to say this shift will enable “shoppable storytelling” while delivering “solutions” connected to advertising shifts. ©Disney This isn’t a new change in the industry, though! Paramount currently offers similar online storefronts through Shopsense. It is unclear when this shift will go into effect; however, Vairety noted we will see the online storefronts in the “not too distant future.” ©Disney We’re eager to see how the changes impact our viewing experiences on each platform. 15. Universal’s newest park is packed with wild rides, immersive lands, and (yep, you guessed it) some seriously memorable eats. Epic Universe As someone who reviews theme park food for a living, I came in ready to critique. And what I found? A lineup of snacks, meals, and treats that honestly blew me away. If you’re heading to Epic Universe soon, these are the BEST things we tried — and why you might wanna make them part of your park plan too. Burning Cheddar Bites From Burning Blade Tavern Let’s get one thing out of the way. It’s cheesy bread. We HAVE to talk about the cheesy bread. These aren’t just any cheesy bread bites, though. You’ll find them in the Dark Universe land over at Burning Blade Tavern, where you can pick up a tray of black-dyed, fried cheddar poppers — nine of them, to be exact — for $12, along with a sriracha ranch for dipping. Burning Cheddar Bites Here’s what you need to know: They’re salty. They’re crispy. They’ve got a cheesy interior that is peak Taco Bell quesadilla energy (if you know, you know). We’re talking that creamy, low-key spicy cheddar that hits all the nostalgic fast food notes. Even the dipping sauce tastes like T-Bell’s quesadilla sauce. This is the highest form of flattery. And look, these are surprisingly shareable — if you’re feeling generous. We weren’t. Would’ve eaten 30 and still reached for more. Butterbeer Crepe From Cafe L’air De La Sirene This is the treat that won’t leave our group chat. The Cafe L’air De La Sirene — over in the Ministry of Magic section of the Wizarding World — is full of French-inspired options that feel elevated without being fussy. But let’s be honest. We’re all here for the Bièraubeurre Crepe. Butterbeer Crepe This $20 dessert stacks two delicate crepes filled with thick butterscotch sauce, then tops the whole thing with fresh whipped cream, strawberries, and a stamped shortbread cookie. It’s sweet. It’s decadent. It’s rich in that “you-might-need-a-nap-after” kinda way. The whipped cream tastes just like the signature Butterbeer foam. Strawberries cut the sweetness perfectly. The cookie? Kinda dry. We’re not here for the cookie. We’re here for that butterscotch filling that turns this thing into an actual edible Butterbeer moment. Would we get it again? Every time. Would we share it next time? Probably, because it’s a lot. But worth it? Absolutely. PB&J Mac And Cheese Cone From Hooligan’s Grog And Gruel I’ve had a lot of theme park mac and cheese. I’ve also had a lot of weird snack mashups. But this one had me second-guessing everything I thought I knew about food. The PB&J Mac and Cheese Cone is NOT what you think. No actual peanut butter or jelly here. Instead, the “PB&J” stands for pulled pork, bacon, and jam — specifically, BBQ harissa pulled pork, peanut bacon jam, maple candy bacon, and parsley, all layered over creamy mac and cheese and served in a crispy cone. PB&J Mac & Cheese Cone It’s $14 and fully stacked. Sweet, savory, cheesy, smoky — it’s got every flavor group covered. One of our reporters said this cone alone could be their lunch or dinner. She wasn’t wrong. It’s filling. Like, skip-the-next-meal filling. One heads-up: Hooligan’s Grog and Gruel is a popular spot, and that line can get intense. We waited an hour during the preview period. If the line’s crazy, you can mobile order this cone from Spit Fyre Grill instead — way faster and with the same amazing cone. DK Crush Float From The Bubbly Barrel This is the snack that practically broke the internet. The DK Crush Float from Donkey Kong Country’s Bubbly Barrel is visually the cutest thing in the whole park. But does it taste good? We were skeptical. Then we tried it. Here’s the breakdown: Banana cream Dole Whip, chocolate pieces, caramel popcorn, and sprinkles served in a waffle bowl that sits ON TOP of a souvenir Donkey Kong barrel filled with Pineapple Fanta. Yeah. It’s a drink/dessert hybrid that doesn’t quite follow the rules. DK Crush Float The banana Dole Whip is a hit. When it melts into the Fanta, it creates a sweet-tart-creamy combo that’s kind of addictive. The textures are fun, the presentation is wild, and the flavor is solid. Definitely one of the better non-alcoholic treats in the park. It’s $19 — pricey, but you do get to keep the barrel cup. The only downside? It’s kind of awkward to eat. Do you slurp the soda while you eat the Dole Whip? Let it melt in? Dump it all together? There’s no right answer. Just go with your gut and do what feels good in the moment. Brownie Eclipse From Pizza Moon Pizza Moon is known for its pies, but it was the dessert that made us do a double-take. The Brownie Eclipse is a $12 treat that doesn’t mess around. Warm, gooey brownie. Thick layer of Nutella. Toasted marshmallows. Crushed Oreo. It’s a chocolate bomb in the best way possible. Brownie Eclipse If you’re a fan of half-baked brownies, this is your jam. It’s rich — no surprise there — but the different textures make it more than just a sugar overload. The crispy marshmallow edges + molten center = absolute win. Honestly? Some of our team liked this better than the pizza. Fair warning, though: this is another one that’s easy to share. Or not. No judgment either way. Witty Wolf’s Breakfast From The Plastered Owl We’re circling back to drinks for a second — and trust me, this one deserves the spotlight. You’ll find The Plastered Owl attached to The Oak & Star Tavern in Celestial Park. This place is themed after a very tipsy cosmic owl, and the drink names are just as quirky as the vibe. The standout here? The Witty Wolf’s Breakfast Sour — a $19 cocktail made with Rattlesnake Rosie’s Maple Bacon Whiskey, orange Curação, maple syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, bitters, and topped off with a whole strip of bacon. Witty Wolf’s Breakfast Sour Yes. Real bacon. In your drink. This thing shouldn’t work. But somehow it totally does. The citrus keeps the maple from taking over, and if you let that bacon just hang out in the drink? You’ll get those savory, smoky aromas with every sip. It’s weird. It’s memorable. It’s also a pretty solid way to kick off your day in the park. Warm Hearted Cinnamon Roll Bites From De Lacey’s Cottage If you’ve got a picky sweet tooth tagging along, this is a no-fail dessert option over in Dark Universe. These $9 cinnamon sugar donut bites are piled high with cream cheese icing and streusel. They’re warm, gooey, and messy in the best way. And while we do wish that icing was inside the bites instead of just dumped on top, De Lacey’s does not hold back on the portion or toppings. Warm Hearted Cinnamon Roll Bites Texture-wise, the sugar adds a little grit to the icing, which some folks on our team loved and others weren’t too jazzed about. But flavor-wise? These are solid. They’re not Gaston’s cinnamon roll, and they’re definitely not Dollywood’s famous cinnamon bread — but for Universal? These earn top marks. Napkins required. Frank ‘n’ Friends Pretzel From De Lacey’s Cottage Let’s be honest. You’re not ordering this one for the flavor. You’re ordering it because you want to take a bite out of Frankenstein’s head. The Frank ‘n’ Friends Pretzel is a big ol’ soft pretzel shaped like Frankenstein’s monster. It’s cute. It’s fun. It comes with white cheese sauce for dipping. And it’s $13. Frank & Friends Pretzel But beyond the novelty factor, this is your basic theme park pretzel. No bells. No green cheese. No tricks. If you’re craving something salty to pair with the cinnamon bites, this is a fun add-on — just maybe not a must-do unless you’re a sucker for monster-themed carbs. (Which… fair.) Celestial Steamed Buns From Star Sui Bao Heads up, plant-based eaters: this one’s for you. The Celestial Steamed Buns from Star Sui Bao in Celestial Park are aiming to unseat Disney’s Cheeseburger Pods as the kings of the theme park bao scene. And they’re coming in hot — with two pillowy buns stuffed with a savory veggie blend of bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, and vegetarian oyster sauce. Celestial Steamed Bun These buns are soft, flavorful, and have just the right amount of spice thanks to a chili oil–heavy dipping sauce that absolutely slaps. Sauce fans, you’re gonna love this one. The filling isn’t too adventurous, but the flavors are strong, and this is one of the best lighter options we’ve found. It’s $13 for the pair. Not something picky kids will love, but definitely a win if you’re craving something less greasy but still satisfying. Bowser’s Fireball Challenge From Toadstool Cafe Toadstool Cafe has already proven itself in Universal parks overseas, and now it’s here in Epic Universe, bringing big Nintendo energy to the table. And nothing on the menu goes harder than Bowser’s Fireball Challenge. This $25 entrée features a literal ONE-POUND spicy meatball, mozzarella cheese, mushroom marinara, a puff pastry shaped like Bowser’s head, parsley, and hot sauce cooked into the meatball itself. Bowser’s Fireball Challenge You read that right. A meatball the size of a cannonball, stuffed with heat and topped with a flaky, golden Bowser crust. The pastry alone is worth shouting out — perfectly crisp, buttery, and shaped with ridiculous detail. You can scoop the extra sauce with it like it’s a giant cracker. Sauce girlies, unite. The meatball is DENSE, spicy, and not for the faint of heart. But if you’re looking for a filling, highly themed meal that doubles as a photo op, this is the one to beat. Hunter’s Garlic Stake From Burning Blade Tavern Thought we were done with the bread talk at Burning Blade? Think again. The Hunter’s Garlic Stake is a $9 twisted pretzel brushed in garlic butter, served with a side of garlic dipping sauce. It’s simple, carb-y, and definitely designed with picky eaters in mind. Compared to the over-the-top Cheddar Bites, this one’s a low-key win. Hunter’s Garlic Stake The flavor? Solid, though not as punchy as a garlic knot from your favorite pizza joint. But the presentation (like a garlic butter weapon forged for the Dark Universe) and that buttery dip give it enough of a boost to earn a spot on this list. Not groundbreaking, but still a comforting, safe bet if you’re not feeling too adventurous. Mango Smoothie From Yoshi’s Snack Island Tucked away in Super Nintendo Land at the base of Mount Beanpole, Yoshi’s Snack Island is dishing out surprisingly refreshing hits. The Mango Smoothie is one of those under-the-radar items that hits perfectly in the middle of a heavy snack day. It’s creamy, tropical, and topped with fresh mango chunks. There’s whipped cream mixed in too, which adds a velvety finish without pushing things into “dessert” territory. Mango Smoothie At just over $7, it’s a light, flavorful option that also beats the heck out of paying $5 for a soda. If you’re looking to recharge without falling into a food coma, this is a smart pick. Red Shell Calzone From Yoshi’s Snack Island Now onto something a little more filling from the same stand — the Red Shell Calzone. It’s $13 and comes in a little plastic holder (so you can walk and snack, Mario Kart style). Inside: pepperoni, sausage, marinara, and cheese. Think of it like a puffier, theme-park–ified Hot Pocket. Red Shell Calzone Kids and teens? Big fans. Adults? Maybe a little underwhelmed. But if you’re looking for something fast, familiar, and super snackable while you explore Super Nintendo Land, this is a strong choice. Lobe Blaster From Bar Moonshine If we gave out awards for most dramatic drink, the Lobe Blaster would sweep. Found at Bar Moonshine in the Wizarding World’s moody Parisian district, this cocktail is a head-turner. It’s made with moonshine, limoncello, absinthe, lemon juice, soda, and a touch of rosemary, plus that magical-looking green layer (thanks to an emulsion verte). Lobe Blaster It’s $18, strong (you will taste the absinthe), and surprisingly refreshing thanks to the minty-lemon balance. But this is not a “chug it and go” kind of drink. Sip slowly. Sit down. Take in the atmosphere. This one’s a vibe — and it comes in a little souvenir cup you can take home, too. Customizable Ice Cream From Frosty Moon We’re back in Celestial Park — which is quietly becoming one of the most stacked food areas in the whole park — for a sweet treat that’s perfect for all ages. Frosty Moon lets you pick from six ice cream flavors, served in a waffle cone or cup, and topped with two toppings of your choice. Want sparkly star sprinkles? Go for it. Want chocolate chips and marshmallows? You do you. Frosty Moon Strawberry Yum Soft-serve with toppings Our swirl of strawberry didn’t taste super natural, but it still had that candy-shop sweetness we could get behind. It’s not the best ice cream in Universal (Florean Fortescue’s still holds that title), but for $9, you’re getting a well-sized scoop that feels freshly made and totally Instagrammable. A kid pleaser for sure, but don’t be surprised if the adults in your group get just as excited once they see it. Berserkers Meatballs From Mead Hall Yes, we’ve got another meatball on the list. No, we’re not sorry about it. The Berserkers Meatballs from Mead Hall in Isle of Berk are basically Universal’s answer to IKEA’s iconic dish — but make it theme park-worthy. For just over $19, you get Swedish meatballs served with onion gravy, lingonberry jam, and a scoop of smashed root veggies. Berserkers Meatballs The meatballs are juicy, the gravy is rich, and that lingonberry jam? Sweet, tart, and a total flavor booster. But it’s the smashed root veggies that really stole the show here — chunky, herby, and perfect for soaking up all that leftover sauce. If you’re into hearty, comfort food-style dishes, this one’s a winner. Barf And Belch’s Duo Plate From Mead Hall This is the one you grab for the kids — but if we’re being honest, adults might secretly wish it came in XL. Barf and Belch’s Duo Plate is just under $10 and comes with grilled sausage, mac and cheese bites, Nordic fries, seasoned carrots, and grapes — all served in a VIKING SHIP tray. It’s one of the cutest presentations in the park, hands down. Barf and Belch’s Duo Plate The sausage is solid and full-sized, the grapes and carrots are fresh and flavorful, and the fries are thick and satisfying. The mac and cheese bites? Not our fave. The texture leans more toward paste than pasta, which felt off. But the value and variety in this kid’s meal are top-notch. Landlubber’s Snickerdoodle Loot From Atlantic The Landlubber’s Snickerdoodle Loot is a plated dessert from Atlantic, a Celestial Park table service restaurant known for its fancy surf and turf vibes. Landlubber’s Snickerdoodle Loot This $11 treat combines snickerdoodle cake, cookie butter ganache, and Biscoff “sand” to create a beachy-looking dessert that tastes just as good as it looks. It’s sweet, crunchy, and full of cinnamon-sugar goodness that kids and adults will both devour. Reservations are required here, but if you’re eating at Atlantic anyway, do not skip dessert. Cake Pops From How To Treat Your Dragon Want your kid to declare you the Best Parent Ever? Hand them one of these. The Cake Pops from the Isle of Berk’s How To Treat Your Dragon confectionery are massive — seriously, palm-sized. They’re birthday cake flavored, decorated with Viking shield designs, and THICK. Cake Pops! They also fall off the stick if you’re not careful. Team Members will warn you — and we’re warning you too. Hold onto the wrapper underneath the pop or sit down for this one, especially with littles. It’s a fun (and very sweet) themed treat that doubles as a photo prop. Mango Bread From Oak Star And Tavern Mango Bread might not sound exciting, but it definitely deserves a moment. This lightly sweet, citrusy side item from Oak Star and Tavern in Celestial Park has the soft texture of cake with a cornbread-adjacent structure. Mango Bread It’s not overly mango-forward, but the flavor still feels tropical and bright — a perfect match for the savory meats this quick service spot is serving. It’s not flashy, but it’s comforting and unique enough to stand out. Alchemist’s Platter From Le Gobelet Noir This might be one of the most unexpected heavy hitters in the entire Wizarding World. Le Gobelet Noir is a moody, hidden gem of a quick service spot that’s rich in theming (shoutout to Nicholas Flamel references and Deathly Hallows details). The Alchemist’s Platter — priced at $28 — is a hearty sampler that includes smoked sausage, pierogies, caramelized onions, pickled egg, beets, warm pretzel, mustard, and a spiced cheese fondue. Alchemist’s Platter It’s massive. Like, full-meal-for-two massive. The pierogies are top tier, the fondue has legit flavor depth, and the mix of bold, savory elements makes it feel like a medieval charcuterie board. If you like bold Eastern European flavors, this is gonna be a highlight. Bulgogi Dog From Comet Dogs Comet Dogs in Celestial Park is a bit hit-or-miss, but the Bulgogi Dog definitely hits. This $14 creation features a bulgogi-style beef sausage served on a buttered, toasted sandwich roll with kimchi slaw, yuzu aioli, and salsa verde. It’s packed with bold, umami-rich flavors and has a fantastic balance of tang, sweetness, and heat. Bulgogi Dog The toasted bun is next-level, and every element on this dog pulls its weight. It’s unique, super filling, and easily one of the most flavorful hot dogs we’ve had in any theme park, which is saying something. Final Thoughts Universal’s Epic Universe isn’t just stepping up in the ride game — the food game is on fire too. Whether you’re here for the deep-fried cheesy stuff, the wild dessert mashups, or that sweet-meets-savory combo you didn’t know you needed, this park delivers. And we’ll be back to try even more. 16. Big changes are coming to Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom The park is adding a new Cars land, the Villains are moving in, and Buzz Lightyear is getting a makeover! Now, a new permit has been filed confirming more upcoming changes! Frontierland is changing again! The Walt Disney World resort has filed a new permit for work relating to the Walt Disney Railroad, specifically the Frontierland Train Station. Walt Disney World Railroad The new permit was filed with the Orange County Comptroller. The general description of the work is “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” We know the work is specifically for the Frontierland Station because of the address listed for the Description of Property. Frontierland Station This update isn’t super surprising because Disney has previously confirmed that the train’s route will change once the construction on Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America permanently closes. During construction, the train will continue to operate, but it will still be available to take guests between the Main Street, U.S.A., and Fantasyland stations. Main Street Station The train will operate in “shuttle mode,” going back and forth between the stations while the Frontierland Station is updated. Disney will be swapping some of the benches on the trains around so that they face both ways instead of just one — that way, folks have an option of sitting backwards or forwards on their ride. The railroad change will begin on July 7th, 2025. The Fantasyland Station! Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America are closing to make way for the new Piston Peak land inspired by the Cars franchise. This is another major change for Frontierland as Big Thunder Mountain has been closed for a lengthy refurbishment since January 2025. It’s expected to reopen sometime in 2026. Big Thunder Mountain construction Disney has yet to reveal the expected timeline for this project. They have also not given an expected opening date for Piston Peak, so the train station closure could go on for a while. Heading to Disney World soon? 17. A brand new nighttime parade is coming to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on July 20th, 2025. ©Disney Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will feature SO many characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Pixar films, and some will be making their nighttime parade debut as well. Disney just released the showtimes for this new parade — and we also learned that the parade route is CHANGING. Disney Starlight will be “brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy” from the Disney animated classic, Pinocchio, as the parade begins — but don’t expect that to happen in Frontierland! Typically, Magic Kingdom parades begin in Frontierland and end right at the front of the park — on Main Street, U.S.A. But Disney is doing things a little differently with Starlight! Disney Starlight concept art ©Disney Instead of starting in Frontierland and ending on Main Street, Starlight will do the opposite! It will begin on Main Street, U.S.A., and will end in Frontierland — which is not the normal parade route for Magic Kingdom. Disney shared that this change was “to allow for better guest flow at the end of the night.” The Starlight parade will take place twice nightly, at 9 PM and 11 PM, which should help alleviate the backup that can occur when people try to leave the park at the end of the night. ©Disney As it begins, Disney Starlight will be “brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy” from the Disney animated classic, Pinocchio. In fact, the star on the Blue Fairy’s wand will be the “first star you’ll see tonight,” and viewers will be invited to wish upon that very star to kick off the parade. ©Disney Parade viewers will see Disney characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios films such as Encanto, Frozen, and Peter Pan. (You’ll see Wendy, too!) Isabela will swing on vines on the Encanto float, just like she does in the beloved film, and Disney also confirmed that a Moana float will be part of the parade, along with Coco and Wish floats! We can’t wait to check out this new parade, so keep an eye out for our FULL coverage of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. ©Disney We’ll be on the lookout for any additional updates Disney shares about the new Starlight parade. 19. Alright, time to go visit the rapscalions. We’re heading to the village! Those of you who’ve been here a while know exactly what that means — we’re heading to the Tiny Train Town! This small village in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT is one of our favorite places around these parts. Why? Because the villagers are known for their shenanigans, tomfoolery, and occasionally, CRIME. Yup, there’s a lot of drama in that itty bitty city, and we like to stop by and watch it unfold. Think of me as not only your Tiny Train Town Mayor, but your gossip columnist for the village. I keep you in the loop with all the happenings, and I know many of the villagers by name. For instance, Little Suzie likes to hang out on top of the town’s watchtower, and her adoptive father (who works for the police force) always has to go up there and find her before she meets her untimely demise. I keep filing safety reports to replace the handrail, but with so many projects ongoing in our town, it never seems to stay fixed. Good grief Little Suzie Last we checked in at the little red church, our jilted groom was starting a budding romance with a new woman! (Thank goodness — he’d been waiting outside that church for over a year after his bride left him at the altar.) Now, he has since PROPOSED and we’re getting ready for their fall wedding — how exciting! What’s going on at the church? Over at the train depot, our engineers are busy prepping for the summer travel season. It’s a great time for people to stop by and take a scenic ride through the village, so we’re seeing higher-than-usual traffic. What’s up at the train depot? But with the summer season, we often get a lot of rain, and that means our residents on the mountainside are in danger of mudslides! We’ve started to see some houses lose structural integrity, so there’s a small-scale evacuation going on right now. We’ll be sending some construction workers in the coming months to make sure these lovely people can return safely to their homes. Oh no! If you’ve been reading a lot of our updates, then you know that quite a few of our young people are in happy relationships now! This was thanks to a new dating initiative in town where the singles met up at the train stations to do speed dating. The gazebo has become a hot spot for date nights, and we’ve even seen a few proposals here as well! Seriously, you guys, the church is going to be BOOKED UP for weddings this fall. The gazebo So that’s a wrap on this week’s update! Love is in the air! Stay tuned to DFB for more news from the Tiny Train Town. The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town, but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. Stay tuned to DFB for more EPCOT news. 20. Even more CLOSURES are going to hit Disney World in July. Shocking, I know! Cinderella Castle If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this summer, you should be aware of what’s going on around the parks in July. Construction and refurbishments continue to be on the way at Disney World, and July is going to be no different. Take a look at everything that will be closed in July of 2025! In June, we said goodbye to the beloved Muppet*Vision 3D, as it closed its doors permanently to make way for the new Monsters, Inc. Land. But that’s just the beginning of what’s going on in the parks right now. You can expect to see refurbishments and even a permanent closure of a classic attraction in Disney World in July. Muppet*Vision 3D Astro Orbiter The majority of the work being done at Disney World will be at the Magic Kingdom. We’ll start at Tomorrowland, where we’ll look at the ride that sits above the “highway in the sky”. The spinning Astro Orbiter attraction has been closed for a while and will continue to be closed for refurbishment. Disney is simply just cleaning up the ride, but there is currently no timetable for its opening. It is expected to reopen at some point in the summer! Astro Orbiter construction! Big Thunder Mountain Let’s make our way over to Frontierland, where everyone’s favorite wildest ride in the wilderness is still undergoing a huge refurbishment. Big Thunder Mountain closed in January earlier this year and is not expected to open until sometime in 2026. Yeah, that’s a long time to wait for this fan-favorite attraction. Construction at Big Thunder Mountain We’re expecting to see a lot more construction on top of Big Thunder’s refurbishment to get ready for the highly anticipated Villain’s Land! Don’t worry, Big Thunder isn’t going anywhere — it’s just undergoing a refurbishment. The refurb is going to be bringing in a brand-new track for the roller coaster, and we can’t wait! The timing of this closure could be linked to the beginning of Villains Land construction (although that isn’t known). Villains Land ©Disney Tom Sawyer Island We know some of you don’t want to hear this, but the time is near to say goodbye to Tom Sawyer Island. What’s coming to the classic attraction isn’t a refurbishment, it’s a permanent closure. The island where you can run around and explore caves, camps, and nature will be gone for good. The island will officially close on July 7th, making its last day to visit July 6th! Tom Sawyer Island While it may be hard to say goodbye to a beloved attraction, something new and exciting is on the horizon. Replacing the island will be Magic Kingdom’s version of Cars Land — a land themed after the popular Pixar movie Cars. The land was officially announced to be called Piston Peak — and it’s looking great! The land will feature water elements, almost paying homage to the area that it will take over. Piston Peak ©Disney Liberty Square Boat The Liberty Square Boat and the Rivers of America will also be permanently closed to make way for the brand-new Piston Peak. They will close on the same day, July 7th, making their last day of operation July 6th. With all these permanent closures happening at Magic Kingdom, we can assume that the construction on Piston Peak will begin very soon! Liberty Square Riverboat Test Track That’s all the closure Disney has planned for July in the Magic Kingdom. Now let’s make our way over to EPCOT, and discuss the popular attraction fans have been waiting for the reopening of. Test Track closed last year in June, and will remain closed for its retheming throughout the beginning of July. New Test Track sign! However, the month will also be the opening of the brand-new Test Track! This is the ride’s third re-theme in its history, and this one promises to be a good one. The ride is scheduled to reopen on July 22nd! If you’re an Annual Passholder, keep an eye out. The previews for Passholders should be starting very soon, and you aren’t going to want to miss being one of the first to experience this ride! Test Track It’s a bittersweet month for Disney goers — we get to welcome in the brand-new Test Track (that we are seriously so excited for), but will have to say our final goodbye to other attractions. Get ready for July, and plan your trip accordingly. Make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for all the latest Disney news and updates! 22. A popular power bank company has recalled over 1.1 million of its chargers. ©Anker We talk a lot about staying connected while at Disney World! Further, we’ve tested dozens of chargers at home and in the parks to make sure you’re getting the best value for your purchase. However, one of our favorite power bank companies has recently issued a recall for a best-selling charger, and you’ll want to be certain of your next steps before you decide to toss it in the trash. According to an article by Fox 11, Anker Innovations has recently sent a recall notice for over 1.1 million power bank chargers that were sold. The company has identified a potential issue with the lithium-ion battery in a popular model of one of its portable chargers. The issues associated with the Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks could lead to “melting of plastic components, smoke, and fire hazards.” ©Amazon Anker Innovations is recalling a noted model number of this style of charger “out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our customers.” In the recall issued late last week, the company is recalling the “A1263” model number of Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks specifically. These chargers were sold in the U.S. on Anker’s website, as well as Amazon, Newegg, and eBay, between June 2016 and December 2022. ©Anker Innovations If you happen to own one of Anker’s PowerCore 10000 chargers, you can check your power bank to see if yours is one of the affected models by locating and reviewing the model number and serial number found on the label to the bottom of the unit. ©Amazon Anker has reported 19 instances of fires and explosions related to the battery issue, as noted in the CPSC recall notice. Two of the previously mentioned incidents resulted in “minor burn injuries,” while 11 of them also resulted in property damage worth more than $60,700. ©Amazon (updated model) If you find that your charger is one of the recalled models, Anker has encouraged users to “immediately stop using the recalled power banks and contact Anker Innovations for instructions on receiving a free replacement power bank.” Registrations for the recall can be made via a designated page on Anker’s website. To register, owners of the recalled power banks will need to provide a photo showing the model number, serial number, their name, the date of the photograph, and the word ‘recalled’ written on the power bank in permanent marker to get a replacement. Additionally, those registering for the recall will have to provide proof that they safely disposed of the power banks. It’s important to note that the affected power banks must be disposed of at a “certified facility that accepts recalled lithium batteries,” and owners are urged NOT to throw them away in the trash or recycling. If you’re not certain which facility closest to you will accept the affected chargers, you should reach out to your local hazardous waste collection center for more details. Once the recall notice has been registered and met satisfactorily, Anker will offer owners the option to either wait for the replacement or get a $30 gift card as compensation for another charger, only “if replacements are on back order.” We’re keeping up with updated travel news, trends, changes, and more! 23. Big changes are coming to Magic Kingdom! Not one, but TWO new lands will make their way to this iconic theme park. While we still have a bit before these lands are open for guests, we are already getting excited about them. Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom will eventually be home to a new Cars land, called Piston Peak National Park, and a brand-new Villains Land. While Piston Peak National Park will be replacing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, Villains Land will be built beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Which will be the most popular at Disney World? We are giving our predictions! There is really no telling which will actually be the most popular, but we do have some thoughts! Most of us here at DFB think that Villains Land will likely be the most popular area. People have been asking for it for YEARS, and there has been a lot of excitement about the announcement. Plus, this is something entirely brand-new for Disney. Disneyland already has a Cars area, and while the Magic Kingdom expansion will be a different atmosphere and setting, it still feels a bit like it has already been done. Villains Land ©Disney Villains Land is not replacing anything, which we also think will be an asset for it. There isn’t any comparison to what was there before, or sad feelings because the area replaced something you really enjoyed. Everyone will get to enjoy it with a fresh perspective. Cruella de Vil The new Villains show in Hollywood Studios, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, has also been a hit since it opened, so we can definitely tell that Villains are exciting for Disney guests. We can’t wait to see how Disney stacks up against Dark Universe at Epic Universe. Plus, there is a lot of merchandising potential for this new land. Captain Hook in Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After On the other hand, Piston Peak National Park could end up being more popular than we are giving it credit for. While there have been mixed opinions on Cars Land, we have a feeling this will be a popular area for those with kids. Our team members and other Disney fans have mentioned that this “world” isn’t as popular across the board. Some people love Cars, but not everyone is a Cars-lover. However, some people are Cars fans, and a new land has the potential to bring in more fans, too! Piston Peak National Park ©Disney There are a lot of factors that go into what will make one area more popular than the other, and we truly won’t know until they are both open and operating. The DFB team may mostly think that Villains Land will be more popular, but who knows! When can we expect these areas to be open? We don’t really know yet. The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will be closing on July 7th, 2025, in preparation for construction to begin on the Cars land. However, no official opening date has been released yet. @Disney Some permits have been filed, and some work has started for Villains Land, but Disney is in the very early stages of construction. Disney hasn’t released an opening date for the Villains Land yet, either. Although we know we will still have a bit of time until we can set foot inside the lands. Magic Kingdom Only time will tell which land is more popular in the Magic Kingdom! All we know is that we are excited to see these new areas. Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news! 25. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Welcome to Disney World We recently stopped by Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! We stopped by Nomad Lounge at Animal Kingdom to grab the limited-time Tropical Rainbow Cocktail! This drink is around during June for Pride Month, and it’s essentially a Tropical Long Island, layered to represent the colors of the Pride Flag. Tropical Rainbow Cocktail Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Absolut Citron Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Pineapple Juice, Chambord Liqueur, Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur, sour mix, and a lotus glow cube come together to make this gorgeous drink. You can get it for $22.50. It’s pricey, but it comes with a TON of booze — so you’re definitely getting what you pay for, here. SO pretty To us, this drink is more along the lines of something a casual vacation drinker might enjoy, instead of the serious whiskey, bourbon, and gin drinkers. It’s very light and fruity — you can tell from the composition of it with the coconut rum, the pineapple juice, and the Chambord — but don’t underestimate it because there are five different shots of liquor in there. It’s very approachable if you’re going to Nomad Lounge and everybody else is getting something with whiskey or some of those more exotic flavors, and that’s not really your jam, then this is going to be a safe bet for you. It is on the sweeter side, so you have to like sweeter cocktails, but it’s very approachable, and obviously it’s very pretty. Love the glow cube We’ll be on the lookout for more exciting drinks to review for you around Disney World.
