  1. Magic Kingdom snacks are iconic! Magic Kingdom From the can’t-miss snacks in this park to the ones that we would say skip, there are so many ways to enjoy a sweet or savory treat. One of our absolute tried and true treats in this park has suddenly changed, and we aren’t sure how to feel. Let’s see what the change is here! If you’ve heard about truly iconic Magic Kingdom foods, you’ve probably heard about Casey’s Corner! Casey’s is a quick-service on Main Street, U.S.A. that serves up ballpark-inspired bites. Casey’s Corner! Here you can find hot dogs, fries, and the most famous corn dog nuggets that we are still obsessed with to this day! One of our favorite items from Casey’s was their delicious Baseball Brownie. We have been munching on this one for years now, and it seems like Casey decided it’s time for a change. The previous Baseball Brownie The previous version of this dessert can be seen above. It was a thick brownie with white and red icing on top, simple yet effective. Now, the Baseball Brownie is made with caramel corn mousse, dulce de leche, and coated in white chocolate for $5.99. The NEW baseball brownie We will admit it looks a lot more like a baseball, but how does it taste? This change makes the dessert more mousse than a brownie, but the base still has that soft, easy-to-enjoy brownie base. Between the mousse, the caramel, and the brownie, the flavors almost reminded us of a butterscotch flavor. Another look at it! It is definitely more chocolatey once you enjoy the base of the dessert. The caramel popcorn was super cute and a fun addition to the treat. The white chocolate had a nice bit of texture before it melted in the heat (which will happen to you in Orlando), and it made the dessert a bit mushy. A look at the inside! Sadly, this isn’t something we would go out of our way for right now! It’s good and we enjoyed it, but it didn’t knock our socks off. If you want something cute and photogenic, this is it! If you need something to blow your mind, there are other desserts around this park. Here, have a bite! We don’t know if this change is permanent, but in case it is, we will forever miss you, our sweet Baseball Brownie. Luckily, there has been no change to those iconic corn dog nuggets and plastic cheese, so we’ll continue to grab them every time we can. We love you, plastic cheese! Now our stomachs are grumbling and we need some Casey’s ASAP! You can learn more about this quick service below. 2. This is one of those theme park quirks that Disney fans live by — and Epic Universe just threw it out the window. It’s quite busy over here At Disney World, there’s an unofficial golden rule: if you get in line before park close, you’re riding. Even if the park technically closes while you’re still waiting, as long as you’re in the queue, you’re good. But Epic Universe? Yeah, they’re not playing by that rule. You Can’t Just Sneak Into the Line Last Minute At Disney World, fans know the trick: hang around near your must-do ride until just before the park closes, then hop in line at the last second and enjoy your final ride of the day. It’s a clutch move, especially for high-demand attractions. You avoid the midday crowds and still get one last thrill. Cosmic Rewind But if you’re planning to use this same trick at Universal’s upcoming Epic Universe park, think again. Universal has made it clear that some of the major rides in Epic Universe will close their queues before the park officially closes, and not just for technical reasons or unexpected delays. If they feel the line is already long enough that it will take them up until or near closing time to get through everyone, they’ll cut off new entries and post the dreaded “At Capacity” on the wait time sign. The wait time sign. So if you show up even a few minutes before park close, hoping to jump in line, and the ride’s already capped? You’re out of luck. What Does “At Capacity” Actually Mean? Let’s break this down. Universal isn’t saying the ride itself is full, or that there was some emergency. It just means the team running the ride has looked at the current wait and decided, essentially, that they won’t be able to get anyone else through before close. That’s a LONG line So, for example, if the park closes at 10PM and the queue is already 90 minutes deep at 8:30PM, they might cut it off early to keep things running smoothly. This helps them avoid keeping the ride running long after the park closes (which, to be fair, Disney also tries to avoid—but they just build it into their system more). At Universal, they’re being a little more direct about managing that time up front. That’s a big shift from what Disney fans are used to. Why This Is a Big Deal for Disney Veterans This rule might sound like a small operational detail, but for longtime Disney park-goers, it’s a huge culture shock. We’re trained to see that “park closing time” as more of a queue deadline than a hard cutoff. It’s the secret sauce of squeezing a little more magic out of the end of your day. We’ve seen a lot of these lately with the long lines! That strategy has saved many a Disney trip, especially when ride lines are crazy all day long. At Epic Universe, that trick just won’t fly. And we totally get why Universal’s doing this — running attractions past close burns staff time and money, and they want to keep things efficient. But still, it stings a bit when you’re staring at a ride entrance at 7:57PM and being told you’re too late. What You Should Do Instead If you’re planning to visit Epic Universe (and let’s be honest, everyone is), here’s our advice: don’t bank on those last-minute queue entries. If there’s something you really, really want to ride, either rope drop it or hit it earlier in the evening. Watch wait times throughout the day and plan around them. And if you still want to attempt an end-of-day ride, head to the attraction well before close — because even if the park is still open, the line might not be. Line for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry So yes, while Disney fans will still be able to live out their final-ride-of-the-night dreams in the Magic Kingdom, over in Epic Universe, the game is changing. 5. Let’s head over to EPCOT! EPCOT This park is known for its festivals, food, drinks, and amazing attractions! As the park continues to grow, it’s brought new changes and spots to eat at! One of the newest spots now has a very simple souvenir that we had to go check out. In case you missed it, GEO-82: A Spaceship Earth Lounge has finally opened in EPCOT! This new Spaceship Earth-themed lounge is an adults-only space that serves up alcoholic drinks, mocktails, food, and fireworks views. GEO-82 entrance We’ve stopped by the lounge a few times, and we are weirdly obsessed with these new lounge-specific coasters! Sure, they’re just drink coasters, but we are collectors at heart. We have tons of coasters from Disney hotels, lounges, and more. Luckily for us, we can add the new GEO-82 coaster to our collection. The coaster! During our stop by the lounge, the Cast Members confirmed that these coasters will run out eventually, and a new design will be introduced. They aren’t sure when the switch will occur, and they didn’t confirm how the design might change. It might seem like something simple, but we love the subtle things! Inside GEO 82 We’ll be treating these coasters as a new, free souvenir while they’re still around to help add to our growing collection. We have seriously fallen in love with this new spot and can’t wait to head back again and again. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news and updates. 6. Big changes are coming to your Disney transportation routine. ©Disney A brand new nighttime parade is launching at Magic Kingdom starting July 20th, and it’s not just going to shake up your evening park plans — it’s going to affect how (and when) you leave the park, too. With “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” rolling out every night at 9PM and 11PM, Disney’s transportation system is about to be busier than ever. If you’re staying at a Disney hotel, there’s one major thing you’re going to want to avoid. Don’t Count on a Quick Exit After the Parade If you’ve ever tried to leave Magic Kingdom right after fireworks, you know what you’re in for: packed ferryboats, shoulder-to-shoulder monorail stations, and bus stops with lines that just won’t end. Now imagine that, but happening multiple times every night. Welcome to July 20th and beyond. The monorail line can get pretty long when Magic Kingdom closes The new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, is set to debut with two showtimes every night — one at 9PM and one at 11PM. Sounds dreamy, right? It is. But that dream is going to turn into a bit of a logistical mess if you’re not prepared. Disney Starlight concept art ©Disney Here’s how it breaks down: fireworks crowds already flood the transportation hubs. Now, with a 9PM parade and an 11PM parade, the window of peak exit traffic is getting stretched even longer. You’ll get a wave of people trying to leave after fireworks, then another after the first parade, then the final swarm after the second parade ends. Basically, the entire back half of the night is going to feel like closing time at a music festival. This Is NOT the Time to Wing It The vibe in the parks is going to be amazing. A brand new parade is always something special at Disney. But if you’re not paying attention to the timing, you could end your magical night with an hour-long wait for a bus or a ferry ride that feels more like a crowd control exercise. ©Disney If you’re staying at a Monorail resort — Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian — expect those Monorail cars to be packed tight. Boats will be backed up. Buses to the All-Stars, Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach — all of them will have longer waits. Even Minnie Vans and rideshare pick-up zones will get jammed. Monorail Crowds And it’s not just about the lines — it’s about the time. What might usually take you 20–30 minutes to exit the park and get back to your hotel could now stretch past an hour, especially if you get caught in the triple-threat window of fireworks, first parade exit, or final parade finale. So What Should You Do Instead? If you’re planning to watch Disney Starlight, pick one showing and commit to it, and know what your exit strategy is before you find yourself in a sea of people. Here’s what we recommend: Leave before fireworks if you don’t care about them. That’s your best shot at a low-stress trip back to the hotel. Stick around after the 11PM parade if you’re in no rush. Shop. Grab a snack. Let the crowds thin out before you make your way to the buses or Monorail. Use that time to explore a near-empty Main Street. If you’ve never walked through Magic Kingdom 45 minutes after closing, trust us — it’s a vibe. Consider skipping the first parade entirely if your main goal is to beat the crowds. That 9PM showing will draw a ton of people out into the streets, and the exits will be slammed once it’s over. Disney Transportation Isn’t Changing, But the Way You Use It Should To be clear, Disney hasn’t announced any new Monorail routes or extra ferryboats just for this parade. The transportation setup itself isn’t changing, but your approach needs to. ©Disney The debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is going to be a big deal, and we’re excited to see what the parade brings. But you don’t want to cap off a magical night with a frustrating wait at the bus stop. A little planning goes a long way here. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news and more. 7. We are huge fans of the Disney Cruise Line! The Disney Magic There is nothing like setting sail on the high seas with your favorite Disney pals. The cruise line has changed a lot lately with the addition of several new ships and even more coming soon, like the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure. If you’re someone who likes an upgrade while sailing, prices are about to get even higher If you think the Disney Cruise Line is just for families, you’re wrong! Aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships, you’ll find several adult-only areas like the Cove Cafe, Cove Pool, Palo, Remy, and Enchante. Enchanté Several of these options do include an additional price on top of your cruise fees, but we’ve almost always loved the experiences we’ve had! We recently called the Disney Cruise Line, and they confirmed these extras are going to cost even more. Across the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Palo and PALO Steakhouse Brunch will increase $5 to a total of $55, and the pre-fix dinner at these locations will increase by the same amount. Palo Brunch on the Disney Dream On the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, Remy will increase prices for the upscale dining experiences that feature menus created by Chef Arnaud Lallement from l’Assiette Champenoise, a Michelin 3-star restaurant, and Chef Scott Hunnel from award-winning Victoria & Albert’s at Walt Disney World Resort. Remy The Remy Champagne Brunch price will rise $5 to a total of $85, the Remy Dessert Experience is going up $5 to a total of $70, and the prix-fixe dinner will go up by $10 to hit $145. Grilled Cut Sirloin at Palo on the Disney Dream Enchante on the Disney Treasure and Disney Wish is also joining in on the price increases. The prix-fixe menu is increasing by $10 to bring the lunch and dinner total to $145. The price increases on the Disney Wish begin on June 20th and the Disney Treasure on June 21st. The Disney Dream follows suit on June 26th and the Disney Magic on June 27th. Palo is adult only dining! The Disney Wonder will also increase prices starting on June 30th, although the Australia and New Zealand sailings are not included. The Disney Fantasy will be the last to join the increases starting on November 16th. Petit Fours Course at Enchante! 8. Disneyland is our home away from home! Disneyland! This year, the park is turning 70 years old! That means new snacks, new entertainment, and lots of other changes! This new change might make some big changes to your plans. We love Disneyland Park! It’s the original Disney park and, even as it changes over the years, it still has so many of the classic attractions that made the park famous. One of the most famous attractions is Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean is a slow-moving boat ride that takes you through the time of the pirates as they pillage and plunder while searching for Captain Jack Sparrow. This ride is super popular, which can lead to some pretty hefty lines throughout New Orleans Square. Crowds in front of Pirates! Now, this famous Disneyland attraction is changing again because it was previously added to the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system until June 30th, 2025. Now, Disney has confirmed this line will return to a standby-only line on July 1st, 2025. The standby and lightning lane entrances If you haven’t been to Disneyland in a while, it’s important to remember that its Lightning Lane Multi Pass system is a bit different from Disney World’s. Disneyland’s Lightning Lane System is a paid system, similar to Disney World’s, but that’s where the similarities really end! Lightning Lane at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disneyland Guests can select one ride at a time, and you can make your selections as you enter the theme park (unlike Disney World, where you can prebook 3 attractions). We’re sad to see such an iconic attraction removed from the Lightning Lane list. Mickey in Disneyland! We’re eager to see if this impacts rope drop strategies in the park! 9. We’ll be the first to say it: EPCOT is BIG. Like, “Oh my goodness, how many more countries are there?” big. EPCOT One way to shorten your trip around the world is to use Disney’s transportation. No, there’s no secret monorail or Skyliner inside EPCOT that will take you to where you need to go, but throughout the World Showcase Lagoon, there are boats called the FriendShip Boats to help you get across EPCOT. Lately, we’ve noticed something is a little different about them. There are usually a few routes between different countries in the World Showcase, like Germany, Morocco, Canada, and Mexico. Currently, the routes have changed, and now they go from Germany to Canada. FriendShip Boats We’re not sure how long this route will be running for, but a few docks are currently closed, including the Morocco dock. Morocco Dock What are your other options if other boat routes are closed? Well, even though the World Showcase is 1.2 miles with 11 countries, making it a huge area to walk around, besides the Germany to Canada boat route, you might need to walk all the way through. All aboard! We know that can make your park day feel longer, especially if you weren’t planning on making it all around the countries, but there’s a lot to discover in each pavilion, along with snacks to try. With the route change, it might be a great opportunity to take things slowly through each country and experience everything they have to offer. FriendShip Boats in EPCOT There’s also an entrance in the back of EPCOT that can help you get to your destination faster, too. International Gateway will let you enter right by the France Pavilion (Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, anyone?). If you’re staying at an EPCOT area resort or using the Skyliner, this entrance can help limit your time walking around the world. International Gateway We’re going to be keeping a watchful eye over the FriendShip Boat to see when docks are reopening or routes are changing, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for everything you need to know for your Disney World trip. 10. For years, Universal’s Islands of Adventure was the newborn baby of the Orlando theme park family. It spent a quarter-century as our latest addition, opening at the tail-end of an ‘80s-’90s flurry that birthed Epcot, Universal Studios, Disney-MGM Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Yet IOA didn’t just glide along as the new kid on the block with its fancy Marvel rides devoted to Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk. It could have gotten a big head with the attention prompted by the first Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a move so popular that its older sister living next door had to get one too. That led to a self-improvement project, turning the home of the original Dueling Dragons roller coaster into the space for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, came the construction of the high-profile, high-speed Jurassic World VelociCoaster. It was all rolling along and then … Epic Universe, a new sister/attention hog, came along. Sure this baby is fresh and fun, but isn’t it just more Potter, plus a ride that’s Forbidden Jourey-esque and a not-quite-as-fast coaster, the Islands must think, collectively. Oh, IOA, envy is not a good color for anyone. And the rising tide lifts all ships with bundled ticket packages, right? With Epic a month old, it felt right to show Islands love with a leisurely walk around. Besides, people are hyped about a dragon sighting there. A section of Lost Continent has a "How to Train Your Dragon" photo op at Islands of Adventure. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Kind of a dragon Sure enough, there’s a dragon looming midway through Lost Continent. It’s peering from atop the archway between the abandoned Poseidon attraction and the abandoned Sindbad attraction. The structure also has a “How to Train Your Dragon” sign attached. On the ground level, there’s a “Dragon” photo op with Toothless, the main dragon in the movies, though it’s not interactive like its Epic Universe counterpart. There’s a display with replica props and costumes from the live-action film and more merchandise for sale. You might get psyched and think more “Dragon” attractions are being planned for IOA, but it feels like that’s more of an Epic success story. The film series has a full-blown land there based on the animated film series. These Islands additions feel like corporate synergy, as the new live-action film (starring Mason Thames, Nico Parker and Gerard Butler) has made more than $350 million at the box office worldwide. Side note: Remember the rumor that Poseidon’s Fury, which closed in 2023, was going to become a Zelda attraction? Waiting. A portion of the venue that was once home to "The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad" is being used as a Cool Zone. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Cool and unusual Cool Zone sounds good in concept. The reality at IOA is underwhelming, although not without entertainment value in the former theater for “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad,” the stage show that closed in 2018. I always say that the No. 1 rule of theme parking is “find your shade,” and Cool Zone provides that and seating, too. The park has taken the lower corner, stage left, fenced it off, and invited visitors to cool their heels. What’s there: Two fountains for refilling water bottles, four potted plants and six rows of benches. It’s the former splash zone — the warning decals remain — so use your imagination. There are no fans and no music. It’s quiet. Much different than the bombastic stunt show’s setting. Over the fence, folks can spy the cavernous stage and the scaffolding above for the technical crew still in place, and that sparks memories. It’s practically the lost civilization of Lost Continent. A team member pointed out a tiny anemometer above the fencing, and that sometimes indicated a breeze. We weren’t feeling it. Random useless fact: According to a sign near the Cool Zone entrance, the maximum occupancy of the “Sindbad” theater was 1,852. You can spell IOA without T This is nothing new, but, wow, there is a dearth of Islands of Adventure-specific merchandise, particularly in the staple of T-shirts. We can’t blame Epic, although there are way more Epic T’s in the Islands of Adventure Trading Company store than Islands gear. Heck, there’s more Universal Studios merch than Islands-branded stuff at IOA. We must assume that studies or history shows that IOA T’s don’t sell. Brighter note: There are VelociCoaster-specific items, even a choice between T-shirt designs, spotted in multiple locations. Dinosaurs rule. The plane prop is being reassembled at Lone Palm Airport, a bar located at Universal CityWalk. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)CityWalk-ing around • The large Starbucks location at Universal CityWalk is closed for remodeling. Signs steer coffee drinkers to a Starbucks inside Universal’s Great Movie Escape attraction. There are also Starbucks stores inside IOA and Universal Studios theme parks. • The Hemisphere Dancer plane is back at Lone Palm Airport, the bar across the way from Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant, though not in all one piece. Some assembly is required, but the bar is open. • Made a quick loop through the Super Nintendo World section of the expanded Universal Studios Store. Be ready for loads of merchandise. I do smile at the sign that designates the “novelty headwear.” Don’t confuse these poofy Toad caps with your formal, Sunday-go-to-meeting hats. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. 12. Do you feel like it’s been hotter than normal lately? Don’t worry — it’s not just you. A hot day in Magic Kingdom According to CNN, a “heat wave is underway for the eastern half of the United States as a potent heat dome reaches its peak,” creating the hottest temperatures we’ve seen this year, so far. CNN predicts that over 250 daily temperature records could be broken during this heat wave. Cities like Philadelphia and Boston might be the hottest they’ve been in any month in over a decade. Always a hot day in Animal Kingdom For some locations, the temperature is about 15 to 20 degrees above average. The National Weather Service has said over 150 million people are under heat alerts, and this brutal heat can cause heat-related illnesses for children, the elderly, and people with pre-existing health conditions. Hollywood Studios The heat is the deadliest form of weather, and even nighttime temperatures are rising faster than daytime highs. Crowds at EPCOT While Florida is not getting the most extreme heat, it is definitely feeling the effects. If you are visiting during the heat wave, be sure to stay safe, drink plenty of water, and stay indoors as much as possible. You might need to take more breaks during your Disney World day than you’re used to, and this could be a great trip to try more indoor experiences, like longer dinners inside. ©CNN The insanely hot days can also make it harder for aircraft to take off, so be aware that there might be delays in your travel. 13. Theme parks are our favorite thing. Celestial Park in Epic Universe We go to Disney World every day! Universal is our home away from home! We love theme parks so much that we made it our job, so we were absolutely obsessed when we heard that there’s a college hosting a theme park competition. Let’s dive in and see if you can participate too. Have you ever wished that theme parks were what you learned about in school? Well, now you can put your daydreams to the test! Ringling College of Art and Design is hosting a high school student theme park design contest to search for the next great theme park designer. Isle of Berk in Epic Universe This is the first-ever theme park design competition, and every U.S. high school junior and senior can participate! The competition runs from September 1st to November 30th. A design for an outdoor merchandise cart from Don Carson The competition requires all entries to create a concept for a mobile merchandise cart that can be used outdoors at a theme park. Every design will be seen by a panel of judges that includes professors from Ringling College of Art and Design, Universal Creative, and other professionals in the entertainment design industry. Universal Orlando The winners of the competition will win a $20,000 tuition to Ringling College and a VIP tour at Universal Studios Florida with complimentary travel and hotel provided. Second and third place can also earn a scholarship to the college’s PreCollege Summer Program. The entries will be judged in December 2025, and winners will be announced in January 2026. Universal Orlando! Jamie DeRuyter, Entertainment Design Department Head at Ringling College of Art and Design, said, “Through this competition, we hope to inspire today’s high school students to see themselves as tomorrow’s immersive experience designers and raise their awareness of this exciting, versatile, and fast-growing career field.” DeRuyter also discussed how entertainment designs impact not only theme parks but everything else, from museums to concerts to hotels and sporting events. Universal Studios Florida Eliza Lee of Universal Creative shared that they are proud to be working with the school to create the first of its kind design competition. Lee said, “This competition is intended to get high school juniors and seniors thinking practically about how to solve creative problems, design memorable experiences, and bring their unique ideas to life.” Universal Orlando crowds We can’t wait to see all of the designs and wish good luck to all of the students participating! 14. In case you only just heard, you’re not imagining things — there’s a Pirates of the Caribbean lounge coming to Magic Kingdom. Welcome to Adventureland It’s one of those announcements that could feel kind of random…until you start connecting the dots. Disney didn’t just wake up one day and decide to serve rum in Adventureland — a few very specific trends and changes helped push this idea forward. Today, we’re breaking down the real reasons why this lounge is happening. Alcohol Has Slowly Been Creeping Into Magic Kingdom Walt Disney was famously against alcohol in Disneyland, and when Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, it followed that same rule. For years, Magic Kingdom was the only park in Disney World that stuck to the no-alcohol policy. That changed in 2012 when Be Our Guest started offering wine and beer at dinner. Since then, more and more table-service restaurants have added limited alcohol menus — but still, no bars, no lounges, no walking around with a drink in hand. Be Our Guest Restaurant This shift was slow, but very intentional. And now, with every other park offering full bars and themed lounges (hi, Nomad Lounge and La Cava del Tequila), Magic Kingdom has started to look…a little behind. The Pirates lounge signals a major shift, not just another restaurant adding drinks, but the first full-on themed lounge inside the park. This is Disney giving in to the reality that guests want immersive drink spots — and they’re not afraid to spend good money to get them. Trader Sam’s and Oga’s Showed Disney What Works Let’s talk about Trader Sam’s. This hidden tiki bar at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been a fan favorite for years. It’s packed almost every night, full of effects, jokes, secret menu items, and a wild atmosphere that makes it feel like more than just a bar — it’s a full experience. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Same thing with Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge. People line up before the park opens just to grab a drink at a bar that’s standing room only. No windows. Loud music. Limited snacks. And still, it’s a hit. Oga’s Cantina These aren’t just bars. They’re attractions in disguise. Disney has learned that if you wrap drinks in storytelling, guests will show up (and pay premium prices). That lesson? Loud and clear. It was only a matter of time before Magic Kingdom got in on the game. And where better to start than with one of the most beloved, story-heavy rides in the whole park? Pirates of the Caribbean Has a Massive Fanbase Pirates isn’t just another classic Disney ride — it’s got a full-blown fanbase that treats this attraction like a lifestyle. The characters, the music, the quotable lines — they all have serious staying power. And Disney knows this. Pirates of the Caribbean Look at how well the Haunted Mansion Parlor performed on Disney Cruise Line. That space was packed with details from the ride, clever drinks, and characters, and fans couldn’t get enough. Now apply that same formula to Pirates. It’s easy to see why Disney would want to turn this ride into a fully themed lounge experience. Haunted Mansion Parlour You’ve got a timeless ride, die-hard fans, and endless potential for immersive design. Even the animatronic parrot (a.k.a. Barker Bird) has built up cult status over the years — and now he’s getting a starring role as the lounge’s host. ©Disney This kind of nostalgia-fueled, fan-service-heavy storytelling is exactly what makes Disney lounges stand out from your average park bar. They know what fans love, and they’re finally giving them more of it. So… Why Now? It’s not one single reason. It’s all of them, building over time. Magic Kingdom has slowly opened the door to alcohol for over a decade. Lounges in other parks (and nearby resorts) have proven to be wildly successful. And fans have shown they’re eager to spend time — and money — in places that feel like a continuation of the attractions they love. Add in a built-in fanbase and a ton of storytelling potential, and suddenly, a Pirates-themed lounge feels like a no-brainer. And if they do it right, this could be the kind of spot people plan their whole Magic Kingdom day around. ©Disney Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? If you’ll be in EPCOT on July 15th, 2025, you can experience the one-of-a-kind Hakkaisan Special Event, hosted by Takumi-tei and featuring Special Guest Mr. Timothy Sullivan. 17. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Welcome to Disney World We recently stopped by T-Rex Cafe in Disney Springs to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere If you’ve ever been to a Rainforest Cafe, this might feel a bit familiar. T-Rex is located in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs and lets you dine in prehistoric times! The outside! Inside, you’ll find a full merchandise section, and you can even build your own Dino! We personally are obsessed with this. How cute is this? The restaurant has tons of dinosaurs throughout the building. How scary but fun! Dinos! Throughout the restaurant, there are several different areas to sit in. The rooms are themed from different primordial landscapes to color-changing ice caves and fern forests. The ice caves! During your meal, you’ll even experience a meteor shower even 20 minutes. How cute is he? The restaurant is very family-friendly and has a loud, talkative atmosphere. It has lots of excitement and happy kids exploring the restaurant. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu features a lot of familiar favorites. The menu is American-inspired and features appetizers, seafood options, soups, salads, pasta, burgers, and sandwiches. The food! As far as the drinks go, they offer several signature cocktails as well as wine, beer, and smoothies! You can even find drinks called The Big Chills, which are specialty non-alcoholic beverages. The drinks And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Buffalo Chicken Dip for $16.99! It’s made with shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar, and bleu cheese crumbles. Tortilla chips are served on the side. The Buffalo Chicken dip! Honestly, there is so much to love about this dip! It is exactly what it says it is, buffalo chicken goodness in dip form served with tortilla chips. It is served warm, and it is ooey, gooey, creamy, and delicious. It has plenty of buffalo flavor, which we loved. A scoop! It does have a bit of kick to it, so if you’re avoiding even the slightest of spice, don’t get this. We would happily get this again! Next in the meal, we grabbed the Boneyard Buffet for $35.99. It’s fire-roasted rotisserie chicken, slow-roasted St. Louis-style pork spareribs, seasoned fries, and coleslaw. The Boneyard Buffet The ribs were surprisingly good. The meat was super tender and was even falling off the bone! There was a nice crust on the outside, and it was smothered in sauce. The sauce was on the sweeter side, but still tasty. The rib! The chicken was on the dry side, which was kinda disappointing. You do get a large piece of chicken, but we do feel it needed a sauce with it. Next time, we would ask for extra barbecue on the side. The chicken! The coleslaw was just that — coleslaw. It was nothing special, but it was good! It was sweet with a creamy dressing and had a good crunch to it. It also tasted semi-fresh, which we appreciated. Have some coleslaw The fries were underneath the chicken and ribs, so they got a bit soggy by the time we got to enjoy them. They were your classic thick-cut fries, but there was really nothing special about them. They were seasoned, but nothing that blew our minds. Another view of the food! For dessert, we grabbed the Abrictosaurus Apple Crisp for $13.99. It’s made with Granny Smith apples, a buttery crumble, salted caramel sauce, and whipped topping. The apple crumble! This was like a slice of apple pie, but the top was crumble instead of pie crust! It was super tasty. The apples were tender, and they didn’t have a super saucy filling. There were tons of apples in it. A closer look The crumble was crispy and full of spices, and it leaned heavily on the cinnamon. We would have liked to see a bit more of the crumble on top. The ice cream was served on the side, and we wish there was also more of it. A scoop! After all that food, we needed to wash it down! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Journey to the Center for $13! It was made with Don Q Cristal Rum, Cruzan Mango Rum, Cruzan Strawberry Rum, triple sec, fruit juices, and grenadine. Journey to the Center This drink reminded us of a fruit punch! It is very fruity, with strong notes of cherry and orange. You also get hints of strawberry. It was sweet and fruity. There isn’t much tartness at all to balance it, so you will want to like sweet drinks. Another look at it It was on the stronger side, but there wasn’t an alcoholic taste to it, so be careful with this one! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You have kids who love Dinosaurs You need a good, familiar meal You want fun, over-the-top theming You should skip this Disney World spot if… You enjoy quieter environments You want more adventurous options You want a more sophisticated experience Overall This spot continues to offer a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with familiar favorites. It won’t knock your socks off, but it will be a fun time, and you can even build your own dinosaur on the way out! The full spread! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 18. If you think you’ve mastered EPCOT strategy, I’ve got news for you — 2026 is about to shake things up in a big way. EPCOT Two major changes are hitting Disney World’s second gate that will require even the savviest Disney veterans to rethink their approach. I’m talking about new reservations you’ll need to make and a significant shift in attraction strategy that could make or break your EPCOT day! These changes are rolling out in 2025, but if you’re next trip is in 2026, you’ll definitely want to be prepared! Let’s get into it. Rule #1: Reservations Required for Spaceship Earth’s Adults-Only Lounge Remember when Space 220 opened and suddenly everyone needed a reservation to dine among the stars? Well, Disney is taking that exclusive experience concept to new heights — literally — with the Spaceship Earth-themed GEO-82 lounge. GEO-82 entrance This adults-only premium experience inside EPCOT’s iconic geodesic sphere has already become one of the hottest reservations on property. We’ve been to GEO-82 several times already, and they offer specialty cocktails inspired by different world regions, tapas-style small plates, and — most importantly — exclusive nighttime viewing of EPCOT’s fireworks from the park’s most recognizable structure. Luminous as seen from GEO-82 What makes this a “rule” rather than just another dining option? The extremely limited capacity. Unlike other EPCOT lounges and restaurants that might have some walk-up availability, GEO-82 is strictly requiring reservations due to its popularity, with bookings opening 60 days in advance (just like other Disney dining). In our experience, these reservations disappear within minutes. Keep checking, though, because you never know when there will be a cancellation! Spaceship Earth ice cube in the Brown Butter Old Fashioned The lounge marks Disney’s first adults-only space inside a park icon, continuing the company’s recent trend of creating more sophisticated experiences for guests without children. An upscale experience like this will cost you, with cocktails ranging from $23 to $28, but, honestly, it’s worth it due to the service you receive here. Caramelized Leek Martini If experiencing this unique space is on your 2026 EPCOT bucket list, you’ll need to set those calendar reminders and be ready to book the moment your reservation window opens. FULL REVIEW: EPCOT’s NEW Adults-Only Lounge Is Officially Open! Rule #2: The Four-Attraction Strategic Challenge The second major change coming to EPCOT that will impact your 2026 trip is the grand return of Test Track after its extended refurbishment. While having another major attraction back in action is certainly good news, it creates a strategic puzzle that we haven’t seen in EPCOT in a while. ©Disney As of July 22nd, 2025, the park will have four legitimate headliner attractions all operating simultaneously: Test Track Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Frozen Ever After Test Track’s new sign What makes this particularly challenging is that Disney has removed Virtual Queues from newer attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Cosmic Rewind. It’s possible Test Track will come back with a Virtual Queue process, but if not, that means all four of these popular rides will be operating with traditional standby lines. Cosmic Rewind entrance Without careful planning, you could find yourself spending the majority of your EPCOT day waiting in lines. The wait times for these attractions are typically sitting at an hour or more. That’s potentially 4-5+ hours of your day just waiting in lines! So, how do you tackle this four-attraction challenge? You’ll need to strategically combine these four approaches: Lightning Lane Single Pass If budget isn’t a major concern, purchasing individual Lightning Lane access for Cosmic Rewind (or Test Track, if it is offered) might be worth the investment. Based on current pricing trends, expect to pay $15-20 per person for each attraction. Cosmic Rewind queue Lightning Lane Multi Pass You can also decide to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which includes access to Remy’s and Frozen Ever After if you are able to grab a time slot. The strategic play here is securing return times for these attractions as soon as you’re eligible to make selections — seven days before for Disney World hotel guests and three days before for regular guests. Lightning Lane at EPCOT’s Frozen Ever After Single Rider Lines Test Track’s return likely means the comeback of one of EPCOT’s only single-rider lines. This option can be a game-changer if you’re willing to split up your party temporarily. Just remember that you might miss some portions of the queue experience if you choose this route. Single Rider sign at the old Test Track (2024) Rope Drop Strategy With four major attractions spread across different areas of the park, the rope drop strategy becomes more complex. You’ll essentially need to choose between two opening approaches: Option 1: World Discovery Focus Arrive 45-60 minutes before official park opening Head directly to Test Track at park opening Use Guardians’ Individual Lightning Lane Save Frozen and Remy for later in the day using Lighting Lane or Extended Evening Hours EPCOT Option 2: World Showcase Focus Arrive 45-60 minutes before official park opening Head directly to the International Gateway entrance Ride Remy’s first, then immediately go to Frozen Ever After Save Test Track for single rider or Lightning Lane later (you’ll know for sure once more details are revealed ahead of its opening) and use Individual Lightning Lane for Guardians World Showcase crowds The key difference in 2026 will be the renewed crowd pressure on World Discovery with Test Track’s reopening. Before its closure, a solid chunk of the crowd headed to Test Track first. During its refurbishment, those crowds were redistributed primarily to Guardians and Remy’s. With all attractions operating, we’ll likely see a return to the split pattern, potentially making the World Showcase rope drop strategy more viable than it’s been in recent years. Disney Just Announced MORE Details About the NEW Test Track Opening Soon at EPCOT Putting It All Together: Your 2026 EPCOT Game Plan A winning strategy might look something like this: 1. Before Your Trip: Set calendar reminders for both GEO-82 lounge reservations (60 days out) and your earliest eligible day to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for Guardians. 2. Park Day Morning: Arrive early for rope drop, heading directly to Test Track if you didn’t purchase its Lightning Lane option (which is to be announced). 3. Late Morning: Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Remy’s with a late morning return time. 4. Afternoon: Enjoy World Showcase pavilions and use your pre-purchased Lightning Lane Single Pass for Guardians. 5. Evening: Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Frozen Ever After, then head to your reserved time at the GEO-82 lounge to cap off the night with specialty cocktails and a prime view of the nighttime spectacular. Exclusive Disney Select Bourbon Flight The landscape of EPCOT is constantly evolving, and these changes represent the park’s continued transformation into a destination that balances nostalgic favorites with new premium experiences. While these new “rules” might initially seem challenging, they’re really opportunities to experience the best of what EPCOT has to offer — if you know how to play the game. 20. It’s a great day in Disney World! Why? We are heading over to a super popular lounge at Disney World to give it another visit! This location is one of our favorites, but we continually revisit spots to ensure you have the most up-to-date reviews. We want to make sure you have the best Disney World vacation! Plus, we will always take an excuse to return to our favorite lounges! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort We are making our way over to Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This popular lounge is bound to provide an entertaining evening, and we can’t wait to give you our full review of this exclusive lounge. Let’s go! Atmosphere Trader Sam’s is an entire experience, so be prepared for a memorable evening of drinks and small bites. This is an extremely popular spot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and you will likely have to wait to get a seat inside the lounge. It doesn’t take advance dining reservations, so you will need to stop by the location to add your name to the list. Be prepared that it could be a bit before you are called in! Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Let’s start with the background of Trader Sam’s. It is owned by Trader Sam himself, the famous Head Salesman of the Jungle Cruise attraction. He has spent years collecting artifacts from all over the world, and now we are being invited into his hideaway to see them all. The lounge feels like a tropical hideaway, but there is more to this lounge than meets the eye! Trader Sam’s Gift Shop The lounge is family-friendly from 3 PM until 8 PM; however, after 8 PM, you will need to be 21 or older to enter the lounge. The part of the lounge we’re visiting today is located outside, so it’s more spacious than the indoor areas, but the theming isn’t as whimsical and over-the-top as it is inside. That’s right. There’s more than just an indoor bar here, people. We’re going to the SECRET TERRACE today. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu First, if you are at Trader Sam’s between 3 PM and 10 PM, you can choose from a selection of appetizers, including the Kalua Pork Tacos and the Thai Chicken Flatbread. ©Disney The main attraction at Trader Sam’s is the DRINKS, though. While the appetizers are yummy and delicious, the specialty cocktails are where this lounge really shines! Depending on what you order, you will spot interactive elements, special effects, and zany antics from the bartenders. You can also get some no-booze brews as well! ©Disney In addition to the no-booze brews and specialty cocktails, Trader Sam’s also offers zero-proof selections and a beer and cider selection. ©Disney There is also a variety of sparkling, white, and red wines to choose from. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We started with the Pan-fried Dumplings for $11. They are served with a soy-sesame dipping sauce. Pan-Fried Dumplings These are your pretty standard dumplings; nothing too special about them. The filling was juicy and the outside was crispy. We wouldn’t rush over here to try them, but they are a good thing to snack on while drinking your beverage. The inside We also got the Kalua Pork Tacos for $10.50. These have been one of our favorites for a while, so we needed to revisit them to make sure they still get high marks! Kalua Pork Tacos These were really tasty! They’re on the sweeter side, which surprised us, but they tasted fresh, and we definitely could have eaten quite a few of these. They aren’t filled a lot, which is probably our main complaint, because we wish there were more. They are topped with a bit of cheese, a purple cabbage slaw, and a slice of jalapeño. The slaw had a bit of a pickled taste to it, but it still had a crispiness to it. Delicious! There was also a small bit of creamy sauce on the bottom of the taco, but it didn’t stand out much at all when you actually ate the taco. Overall, these were very easy to eat and tender — we’d certainly get them again! Drinks To drink, we grabbed the Uh-Oa for $27.50. This is made with Plantation Original Dark Rum, Bacardi Superior Rum, Orange, Passion Fruit, Guava, Pineapple, and Grapefruit Juices, Falernum, Cinnamon, and fresh Lime Juice. The main flavor we tasted in this guy was pineapple. While it has a long ingredient list, there wasn’t a whole lot of flavor to it. Ours was a bit watered down from melting, but we were a bit disappointed in the overall flavor. Uh-Oa You could taste a hint of the cinnamon, too, which was a fun addition. It was sweet and easy to drink, and we didn’t taste too much of the alcohol. This normally comes in two souvenir glasses, as it’s intended for two guests, but this one is served in two plastic cups. We wish it had more flavor. We also got the Spikey Pineapple for $16.50. This drink is Cruzan Mango Rum blended with DOLE Whip Pineapple. Spikey Pineapple There’s honestly not much to say here because it’s pretty one-dimensional. If you like pineapple DOLE Whip, you’ll like it. We think the mango flavor of the rum is buried in there — you don’t really taste it. You can also get this drink “extra spikey” with a rum floater for an extra charge. Not bad, but nothing super special A DOLE Whip with a rum floater at Pineapple Lanai is $14.50, so if the Spikey Pineapple is all you’re after at Tiki Terrace, you might consider saving a couple of bucks and going to Pineapple Lanai. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for unique drinks You want to visit one of the most iconic bars in Disney World, but don’t want the immersive experience inside You prefer smaller meals You should skip this Disney World spot if… You only want to eat at Trader Sam’s if you can dine inside You’re looking for a sit-down meal that has larger portions You’re not looking to leave the parks to eat Overall This spot is still one of our favorites, and it really has some great smaller bite options. The drinks very rarely disappoint us either, as long as you look at the ingredients and know what you do and don’t like. However, if you’re looking for the full experience, especially if it’s your first time, we recommend doing everything you can to eat inside! Yum! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 23. The fourth haunted house for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights is a throwback to last year’s event at Universal Studios, the theme park announced Monday. Visitors will experience Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters in a larger format in 2025, Universal Orlando says. “In this Old West town, all hell is breaking loose,” reads a social media description. “Red-hot lava demons are trying to possess everyone, melting everything in their path.” Hatchet and Chains was one of the featured presentations within the 2024 house called Slaughter Sinema 2, which was a round-up maze of (fictional) B-movies. The Hatchet scenes included a saloon, demons and the scent of roses. The original Slaughter Sinema concept debuted at HHN in 2018. Among other elements of Slaughter Cinema 2 were “Night of the Undead Clowns,” “Mardi Gras Murders,” “Mummy Strippers: Unwrapped” and the Carey Drive-In. Three houses previously announced for the next Horror Nights are based on “Fallout,” a Prime streaming series and videogame; Jason Universe, featuring “Friday the 13th” fare; and El Artista: A Spanish Haunting, an original maze starring a tortured artist and haunted paintings. Ten haunted houses are expected for HHN 2025, the event’s 34th edition. Halloween Horror Nights is an after-hours, extra-ticket fright fest held on select nights between Aug. 29 and Nov. 2. 25. Disney has been updating their dining reservation system, and we are HERE for it! Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of the hardest reservations to grab! They previously made updates to allow for more filters when searching for dining reservations, like wider areas, cuisine type, and character dining. They’re even letting you view multiple restaurants at a time for reservation times, and now it’s even easier to find a dining reservation. One new element we love is that you can view a date range for multiple restaurants at once! Do you want a sit-down dinner, but not picky where? This is a great way to see your options and choose the best one for your family. ©Disney You can view up to ten dates at a time! When it comes to choosing time frames, instead of the broad morning, afternoon, or dinner options, you can specifically select the time frames that work for you. This will make planning your day so much easier. ©Disney This is also great for discovering new restaurants! While we certainly have our favorites, some restaurants slide under the radar but end up being our new loves — sometimes we just need to be reminded about them! Spice Road Table is one of our hidden gems When you’re looking at restaurant calendars, they’ll mark days with available reservations in green and indicate the full days with no color. We love being able to glance at a calendar and see what’s available. ©Disney The filters are also easier to find. Previously, it was tucked into the corner, but now it’s much easier to select your areas and define the type of reservation you’re looking for. ©Disne There also appears to be a new MyDisney Wallet system. If you already have your cards stored through Disney, you should still be able to choose it, but you’ll need to give Disney permission to use it through the MyDisney Wallet. ©Disney Recently, Disney added SO many more filters, and combined with these new updates, booking reservations is that much easier. While many restaurants have walk-up dining availability, booking a reservation in advance can help plan out your day and schedule when you’re going to take a break from the heat. We love relaxing in the Hollywood Brown Derby during our park days From character dining to meet all of your favorite Disney friends to a nice dinner to relax from the go, go, go of a theme park, reserved dining can really help take your Disney day to the next level. Mickey at Chef Mickey’s What do you think about this new feature? Tell us in the comments, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news.
