Universal’s Epic Universe has been officially open to the public for just about a month, with several weeks of previews before then. Over that period, the park has gained rave reviews from many, but some issues have continuously cropped up. Epic Universe One of the most consistent problems to plague Epic Universe has been an environment-related Achilles’ Heel that has struck the park — and altered wait times — on an almost daily basis. Epic Universe’s stacked lineup of 11 attractions features exclusive new E-Tickets, thrilling coasters, and the first Nintendo-based attractions available to East Coast park goers. However, eight of those attractions: Constellation Carousel, Curse of the Werewolf, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Mine-Cart Madness, Stardust Racers, and Yoshi’s Adventure are all at least partially outdoors, and vulnerable to weather delays. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders While that’s nothing new for Orlando area theme parks — certainly many rides in Universal’s other parks as well as Disney World’s four theme parks are operationally dependent on the weather — the fact that such a high percentage of Epic Universe’s attractions can be shut down by inclement weather looks to be an issue with the park, especially given what Orlando’s summer weather is like. Since the park’s May 22nd opening, our wait times data indicates that nearly every day of operation has featured at least some weather-related delays on the park’s outdoor attractions. For example, over the first 19 days of June, the park experiences significant weather-related delays on 12 of them. Stardust Racers This has, in turn, put an undue amount of stress on the park’s other three attractions, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experience, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, and Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge during bad weather. That’s especially an issue for the latter two, as both have wait-time issues of their own due to the former’s propensity to break down for long stretches and the latter’s low capacity, slow-loading, and limited capacity ride system. Battle at the Ministry Unfortunately, there’s likely little Universal can do about these issues in the short term. These outdoor attractions can’t operate safely in bad weather, and there’s no quick fix around that. However, hopefully, as the company expands in the long term, they’ll add more indoor attractions to balance out the park so that such a large majority of its rides aren’t weather-dependent. Yoshi While Epic Universe may be a technological marvel with some very popular rides, some of these attractions are still experiencing weather issues. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Universal’s newest park. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Epic Universe trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! There are two types of Disney hotel stays: the ones you dream about for years and the ones you realize (a little too late) were… not it. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort With all that in mind, we wanted to find out from you the telltale signs that you’re at the wrong Disney World hotel, and boy oh boy, you delivered. We reached out to our followers on X to ask: “Looking back… what were the signs you definitely chose the wrong Disney hotel?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into some of your top responses! “If you can’t see Epcot or MK…” First, we’ve got @MattWi77iams who shared: “If you can’t see Epcot or MK from the property.” This one’s for the view-lovers. And honestly, we get it. There’s something about waking up and seeing Spaceship Earth or Cinderella Castle that just sets the tone for the day. If you’re staring at a parking lot or the back of another building instead… yeah, that’s a rough start to the magic. For many readers, the “wrong” hotel isn’t necessarily bad—it’s just not close enough to the action. That window view? It matters more than you think. Balcony view “The fire alarm going off at 6am…” Next, we’ve got @TheCoffeeGreg, who shared: “The fire alarm going off at 6am and evacuating from a dead sleep. Then not being allowed back in the room for hours. Then not having any water in the room for the rest of the day. (grand floridian)” Oof. There’s nothing like a surprise pre-dawn evacuation to set the tone for a chaotic Disney day. And while Grand Floridian is supposed to be luxury central, even the fanciest spots can have rough mornings. This kind of disruption— especially without communication or resolution — can quickly turn a dream hotel into a “never again” story. Grand Floridian DVC Rooms “Seeing all the crowds pour in…” Next, we’ve got @orlandosox, who shared: “Seeing all the crowds pour in on a monorail resort.” This one hits hard for anyone who booked a monorail resort expecting calm, quick park access… only to find themselves in the middle of a full-blown people parade. The perks of staying on the monorail are real — when it works for you. But some readers warned that it can also mean getting caught in the crush of rope drop chaos, especially when non-resort guests show up early. Monorail at the Grand Floridian “All the construction…” Next up, we’ve got @PorteraBrian who shared: “All the construction at the beach club past week. The resort stated that construction wouldn’t begin until after 8 am. We are usually in the parks by then. It definitely did, and Tues night after midnight the forklifts beeping every time they backed up for hours.” Yikes. Late-night forklifts and early morning hammering? Sounds like the Beach Club became more of a construction site than a vacation escape. This is a big one — resort construction isn’t always avoidable, but it’s a serious mood-killer when it happens outside the hours you were told it would. If you’re a light sleeper or value peace and quiet, it’s worth checking (and double-checking) those construction notices before you book. Construction on Stormalong Bay “…Damp room. Mildew smell…” Next, @hawaiimaile shared: “Beach Club. Carpeted room + Stormalong Bay. Damp room. Mildew smell. Gag.” — @hawaiimaile The Beach Club takes another hit — this time for the vibes. And by vibes, we mean wet carpet and mildew. Stormalong Bay is an amazing pool area, no doubt, but apparently, all that water doesn’t mix well with old carpet and humid rooms. If a clean, fresh-smelling room is your non-negotiable (which, let’s be honest, it should be), this might be a dealbreaker. Pool’s open! “That one time we stayed…during cheers season.” Next up, @pastamutt shared: “That one time we stayed at All Stars during cheers season.” — @pastamutt Unless you’re a cheer coach or a parent of a cheerleader, the cheer season at the All-Star Resorts is something to avoid at all costs. Crowded food courts, packed buses, and screaming routines at 7am don’t exactly scream “relaxing Disney vacation.” Multiple readers pointed out how event season—cheer comps, dance teams, school trips—can completely change the feel of a value resort. Know before you go. Crowds “…Dining hall miles from our room…” Lastly, we’ve got @jerseyish, who shared: “CARRIBEAN resort years ago. Construction. Room run down. Dining hall miles from our room. Buses to MK, Epcot, etc took forever.” This one sounds like the Disney hotel trifecta of regret: construction, outdated rooms, and inconvenient everything. When your resort is so sprawling that it takes half an hour just to find breakfast, that’s a sign. Add in slow buses and long lines, and suddenly you’re spending more time in transit than in the parks. That’s not the vacation vibe most of us are going for. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Those were just some of your thoughts on the telltale signs that you’re at the wrong Disney World hotel, and now we want to hear even more from you! Great news for fans of Extended Evening Hours! Hollywood Studios If you’ve ever wanted to stay in the parks after closing and experience the park with fewer people and shorter lines, then Disney World’s Extended Evening Hours events are perfect for you. If you were hoping to experience Extended Evening Hours later this year, we’ve got fun news — hours have been announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Disney has just quietly announced the return of Extended Evening Hours to Hollywood Studios this August. We’re currently seeing that August 29th is the first date of this perk, but as the calendar only goes through September 1st right now, that’s all we’re able to see. ©Disney This actually isn’t that unusual — when Halloween season comes around, Magic Kingdom gets too busy with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (and then Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party after that) to host Extended Evening Hours, so Hollywood Studios usually takes it off their hands. This means that we expect to see some Extended Evening Hours dates from (hopefully) August through at least October. Galaxy’s Edge What are Extended Evening Hours, exactly? Well, this is a perk that guests staying at Deluxe Disney World hotels, as well as the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and select other resorts, get to use on select days of their vacation. Unlike Early Entry, which is available every day at all parks and is a perk all Disney World hotel guests can use, Extended Evening Hours only happen at select parks throughout the week and is only reserved for those staying at select hotels. They allow you access to the park a few hours after regular closing, and can be a great way to get a few more rides in before the day ends. Toy Story Land at night It’s a great perk, especially if you don’t go to Disney World often and you want to take advantage of each and every minute in the park that you can. More Disney Hotel News! Let’s be real — a day at Magic Kingdom means early mornings, long lines, and lots (and lots) of stuff to carry. Between the water bottles, snacks, portable chargers, and merch, your bag can start to feel like a black hole of chaos real fast. But there’s one item that always seems to be the awkward extra — your mouse ears. Cinderella Castle You wear them in the morning. You wear them for castle pics. But let’s be honest… around 2 PM when the heat hits and you’re running between rides, those ears are the first thing to come off. And what happens next? They get shoved in your backpack (and crushed), or worse, you end up holding them like a crown the rest of the day. That’s why we’re kind of obsessed with this new $10 Disney Loungefly-style Mouse Ear Holder we found on Amazon. It’s an absolute must if you’re hitting the parks anytime soon — especially if you’re all about your Loungefly game. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Mouse Ear Holder Mouse Ear Holder This Mouse Ear Holder Keychain is one of those simple things that just makes sense. It clips right onto your backpack with a sturdy lobster clasp, and it’s designed to hold your mouse ears securely with a snap-fastener strap. Just pop your headband through the loop, snap it shut, and boom — your ears are on display (and out of your hands). ©Amazon It’s made of synthetic leather, which means it can handle some wear and tear, and it even has a cute embroidered design inspired by classic Disney characters. It totally gives off that Loungefly vibe, so it won’t look out of place with the rest of your bag charms and pins. Why We Love It There are a million little things to keep track of when you’re spending a full day in Magic Kingdom. This solves one of the most annoying ones: where to stash your ears when you’re not wearing them. It also frees up that precious backpack space for more important things, like snacks or your souvenir popcorn bucket. (Priorities.) Mouse Ear Holder We’ve tried other ear holders in the past, and this one actually stays clipped on. The fastener doesn’t pop open randomly, and the metal part is fixed into the strap, so it’s not just hanging by a thread. Plus, the price? Just $10. It feels like a no-brainer add-on if you’re already investing in a Loungefly bag or getting park-ready with some new gear. Cute, Functional, and Totally Park-Ready This isn’t just about convenience — it’s about showing off your Disney style. Instead of stuffing your Minnie ears into the bottom of your bag, this holder keeps them on display. Pair it with your Loungefly, match your ears to your outfit, and you’ve got an easy way to upgrade your whole park look without spending much at all. Mouse Ear Holder It’s also a cute little gift if you’re planning a trip with friends or surprising someone with a Disney vacation. Practical + on theme? Yes please. When it comes to dining at Disneyland, you’ve got a lot of different options. You’ve got quick and easy, or a sit-down meal that will allow you to relax in the AC for a while. Disneyland Entrance and Train Station We recently stopped by Napolini Pizzeria at Downtown Disney to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Happiest Place on Earth? We found out! Atmosphere This is a grab-and-go Italian spot right next to Naples Ristorante in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District. While there is seating inside, it’s a little bit limited, so you may find yourself taking your food outside instead. Napolini Pizzeria But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu You can grab sandwiches, salads, and Italian desserts, but the spotlight is on Create-Your-Own Pizzas with a wide variety of toppings. Signature Pizzas are also on offer, with unique options like Brinner (Breakfast and Dinner) Pizza. Menu There are PLENTY of those grab and go options though, so if you’re looking for something fast, this is a good spot. Grab and go options! And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Hot Honey Pizza for $14. This is made with fresh mozzarella, stracciatella, chili flakes, basil, hot honey, and tomato sauce. Hot Honey Pizza This was the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and cheesy. This was hotter than we thought it’d be, and our nose was almost running after a slice. At first it was just sweet honey, and then the hot part kicked in after a second. The spice is amplified if you get a bite with the chili flakes! The mozzarella was great with a fresh kinda milky mozzarella flavor that stood out even with all of the spice.Despite it being spicier than we thought, all the of the ingredients worked well here, so we recommend if you’re a fan of spice! We loved it! The second pizza we tried was the Mexicana for $14, which is made with carnitas, pickled jalapeños, red onions, cilantro aioli, and fresh mozzarella. Mexicana We wouldn’t say this was bad, but it was hard to beat the hot honey! This one was still a little spicy with the jalapeños but it wasn’t too strong and it’s easy enough to pick them off if it’s not your thing. It was good, but not AS good! We were surprised at how flavorful and savory the pork was for just being used as a topping. The cilantro aioli was slightly creamy with a fresh cilantro flavor, it was great but there was a lot and at times took away from the other flavors — honestly, we could have done with a little less of it! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re a big fan of unique pizzas You enjoy spice You want something quick and easy, but also delicious You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re a picky eater You want a sit down meal You want something a little more than just pizza Overall We really enjoyed both options! $14 for a filling and freshly made personal size pizza also seems like a pretty good deal for a quick lunch. We’re not sure if it’s worth venturing out of the parks for, if that’s the main reason you’re in Disneyland Resort, though. If you’re spending the day in Downtown Disney or just shopping and need something that’s quick and cheaper than the sit down options, we’d highly recommend! Both pizzas! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Universal has been doing some serious expanding and coming up with new theme parks and experiences all over the world. ©Universal Recently, a new Universal horror experience opened in Las Vegas. PLUS Universal is bringing a new park to the U.K. A new park, Universal Kids Resort, is under construction in Frisco, Texas. Well, we recently took a drive to Frisco to check out the latest construction progress of this new theme park, and things are moving right along. Universal Kids Resort is a first-of-its-kind theme park designed specifically for families with young kids. It will have lands themed around Shrek, Puss in Boots, Trolls, Gabby’s Dollhouse, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions, and Jurassic World. The resort will also have a 300-room hotel with a dedicated entrance into the theme park. The last time we checked up on construction progress at the resort, we noticed that work was well underway for the hotel. Here’s what it looked like then. Universal Kids Resort hotel Well, now, the work on that hotel is progressing. Hotel progress However, during this visit, we also noticed OTHER work being done on the site. More structures have been erected, including part of a roller coaster track. Rides? Now, we know that Universal previously filed for a trademark for a coaster called Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster. Now, we’re not sure this is it, but it very well could be. Here’s a closer look at that ride. That’s a roller coaster track! We also saw a long building being constructed nearby. We’re not sure what this will end up being, but you can guarantee we’ll keep an eye on it to figure it out. New building Universal has revealed that attractions at the park will include a playground themed around Shrek’s Swamp, an area dedicated to SpongeBob SquarePants with “nautical, nonsensical delights,” a kitty adoption drive with sideshow games and rides themed to Puss in Boots, and a sensory garden. Universal Kids Resort will also have a hub with interactive play areas for kids and resting spaces for their parents, as well as a “unique immersive retail experience” featuring Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse. The new resort is expected to open in 2026. ©Universal | Kids Resort We’ll be keeping an eye out for more construction progress at the site of Universal Kids Resort, so stay tuned to DFB for more. We’re just a few weeks away from the debut of Disney’s new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight! ©Disney Disney Starlight will debut on July 20th, 2025, and we know it’s going to be VERY popular. If you’ll be in town and plan to get a spot for the parade, you’ll want to ensure you give yourself enough time. But how much IS enough time? We’ve done the math, and this is what you’ll want to plan for! For The First Three Months If you’ll be visiting Magic Kingdom within the first three months of the parade opening, you’ll want to allow for A LOT of time to grab your spot. For any type of spot that can be considered decent, you’ll want to grab a spot a MINIMUM of an hour ahead of time. ©Disney Now, if you’re looking for a place to stand that isn’t necessarily good, then you can probably make do with grabbing a spot half an hour ahead of time. Anything after that? Do NOT risk it. This parade is going to be wildly popular for the first few months, especially with it being the first nighttime parade in YEARS, so if you want to see it and you don’t travel to Disney often, grab yourself a good spot to enjoy. Beyond 3 Months Now, over 3 months after the parade has debuted, we’ll be past the summer season, meaning most kids will be back in school and less vacations may be happening. However, don’t assume that means that crowds around this parade will go down immensely. If you’re looking for a great spot, we recommend getting a spot anywhere from 45-60 minutes ahead of time. If it’s a busier season, or a weekend, lean closer to 60. ©Disney If you’re looking for a “meh” spot — something that won’t be fantastic but you’ll still be able to see, get a spot half an hour ahead of time. Now, if you want a place to stand that isn’t great, 15 minutes ahead will be fine, but again, expect to have your view blocked for a large part of it. Additional Tips With this being a nighttime parade, it’s entirely possible families with younger kids will choose to go back to their hotel in the middle of the day for a nap, then come back at night for the parade. So if you see crowds have dropped in the middle of the day, don’t totally assume it’ll stay that way at night for the parade. ©Disney Additionally, people may choose to park hop over from other parks in the evening only for the parade. This is another reason we recommend grabbing a spot early! While we know it’s tempting to have one person hold a spot for your whole family, we advise against this for a long period of time. Spots are often first come, first serve, and it’s not fair to the others around you who waited with their whole family for the parade, only to have the remaining 5-6 members of your family arrive 5 minutes before the parade. Be courteous to others! ©Disney We can’t wait to see the parade in person for the first time, and we’ll be bringing you all our thoughts, so stay tuned to DFB! Deciding what to pack in your suitcase and park bag ahead of a Disney World trip can be just as difficult as choosing what restaurants you want to visit! Cinderella Castle Ever wonder what DFB Founder AJ’s must-haves are when she’s in Disney World? Well, it’s your lucky day because we’ve rounded up her absolute essentials for when she’s in the parks. Let’s get into it! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. This Popsockets MagSafe charger is an AJ must-have ©Amazon It’s probably no surprise that AJ is taking a TON of photos and videos when she’s in Disney World — which means she needs to make sure her phone stays charged and her hands don’t cramp! This charger is magnetic, has the PopSocket that she needs to take a video, etc. It’s the perfect combo of PopSocket and charger. Get the Charger HERE AJ is a recent sunscreen stick convert ©Amazon As a new devotee to the sunscreen stick, AJ loves this Neutrogena one since you can bring it in a carry-on if you’re not checking bags! No need to worry about that pesky liquid limit. This one features an easy-to-apply, non-greasy, dry-touch formula that leaves skin feeling soft & smooth, with no white residue. View on Amazon A lightweight hat can be essential ©Amazon In addition to sunscreen, you’ll pretty much always find AJ in a lightweight hat like this Nike one. This one is made of Dri-Fit material with perforations to keep you cool while still protecting you from the sun! Shop this hat right here This zippered poncho is a game-changer ©Amazon Forget a fussy poncho that you have to pull on and off over your head. Instead, AJ has been loving a reusable zippered poncho like this one! This raincoat is waterproof, quick-drying, soft to the touch, comfortable, and windproof. It also includes a color-matched storage pouch for easy carrying and compact storage. Perfect for on-the-go use, fitting neatly into your bag or backpack. Stay dry with this poncho Carmex Lip Balm ©Amazon Nothing ruins a Disney day quite like chapped lips! This set of Carmex doesn’t just keep your lips from cracking, it also keeps them from burning. This lip balm has SPF 15 to help protect you from the harsh Orlando sun, as well as cold, wind, and dry weather. Get Your Own Carmex Here Apple AirPod Pros ©Amazon AJ has done a lot of solo Disney days, and nothing helps with that quite like a pair of Apple AirPods. They’re great for listening to music or podcasts while waiting in long lines and can help drown out some of the noise caused by crowds if you find that overwhelming. Get Your Own Apple AirPods Here Travel Umbrella UV Umbrella Sometimes it feels like you can’t find an ounce of shade in Disney World, so AJ brings her own! This mini travel umbrella offers UV protection to help save our skin from the sun. It also never hurts to have an umbrella to save you from those flash rainstorms that hit Disney in the summer. It’s a multi-use product! Get Your Own Travel Umbrella Here Eco-Friendly Drinking Straws ©Amazon If you aren’t a fan of the paper drinking straws, you’re just like AJ! She always carries these compostable, eco-friendly straws with her so her straws won’t disintegrate into her slushies and frozen drinks. It’s still good for the environment but less troublesome. Get Your Own Eco-Friendly Straws Here Reusable Travel Utensils ©Amazon Speaking of being eco-friendly, AJ brings her own utensils to the park! These are good for the environment, but they’re also super helpful on festival days! Have you ever searched for a table, in the sun, for far too long and finally snag one, only to realize you didn’t grab a fork? We have to. These solve that problem! Get Your Own Travel Utensils Here Portable Chopsticks ©Amazon What are portable utensils without some chopsticks? AJ said, and we quote, “I hate eating Asian noodles without them.” We totally get it! These make EPCOT just even better and will be adding them to our reporter bags ASAP. Get Your Own Portable Chopsticks Here Bicycle Playing Cards The cards! Another thing to help pass time in lines or while you wait for shows to start are Bicycle playing cards! There are tons of different designs, and they’re great for families to play all together. It even helps you take a break from your phone, which we could also use every now and then. Get Your Own Bicycle Playing Cards Here Kindle ©Amazon Another awesome way to pass time in long lines is by bringing your Kindle! AJ is a huge fan of hers because it’s small and light, making it easy to toss in a bag. It also means you can carry hundreds of books at once without all the extra weight. It’s perfect for any travel. Get Your Own Kindle Here Touchland Hand Sanitizer ©Amazon Disney World can be sticky and germy, especially if you’ve got a kiddo who loves Dole Whip. (Or you’re an adult who loves Dole Whip.) Touchland hand sanitizer is a favorite of ours because it fits easily in all of our bags. AJ says hand sanitizer is a necessity, so we’ve got our set of three ready to go. Get Your Own Touchland Hand Sanitizer Here MiO Water Enhancer ©Amazon It’s well known that you need to drink water when you’re in Disney World, but if you’re anything like AJ, you want a little flavor in your drinks! Our only hydration can’t come from Lapu Lapus alone, so adding a bit of flavor makes getting our necessary water easier. This variety pack will give you tons of tasty drinks all day long. Get Your Own MiO Water Enhancers Here Sunglasses ©Amazon Finally, AJ’s last necessity is a good pair of sunglasses. The sun is Disney’s real biggest villain, so bringing protection for your eyes can make you the hero of the day! It also will cost you a lot less to buy them ahead of time rather than in the park. So summer is here, school is out, and for many vacation time has started or will start soon. For many that means a trip to Disney World, which means flying into Orlando International Airport. Orlando International Airport While you might be looking forward to that Disney World trip that you’ve probably been planning for a while, you might also need to plan for something else at the airport: delays. Now, delays are inevitable sometimes, but according to USA Today, the Department of Transportation has listed Orlando International Airport in the top five list of U.S. airports prone to delays this summer. Over the course of 2024, these are the top 10 airports with the most delays in the U.S. San Francisco (SFO): 68.9% of arrivals on time Fort Lauderdale (FLL): 73.9% of arrivals on time Tampa (TPA): 73.9% of arrivals on time Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW): 74% of arrivals on time Orlando (MCO): 74.6% of arrivals on time San Diego (SAN): 74.6% of arrivals on time Miami (MIA): 75% of arrivals on time Austin (AUS): 76% of arrivals on time Boston (BOS): 76.1% of arrivals on time Newark (EWR): 76.2% of arrivals on time Philadelphia (PHL): 76.7% of arrivals on time Orlando International Airport So what’s up with all the delays you might expect this summer? Well, the main cause of these delays is weather, and the weather is notoriously unpredictable in Florida and along the Gulf Coast throughout the summer. Hotter summer temperatures generally mean more severe thunderstorms, but summer also brings hurricane season, which often impacts the Orlando area. Flooding in Disney World Hurricanes, in particular, can greatly impact flights and can even close airports and airspace in a storm’s path. However, extremely hot weather can also cause delays because planes have problems taking off during extreme temperatures. So, what should you do to prepare for delays? For starters, try to book a non-stop flight to Orlando. If you have a connecting flight, you’re upping your chances for delays. Also, try to book flights for early morning, so if your flight is delayed, you’re still likely to get a flight later that day. Welcome to the Orlando International Airport If your flight is delayed, know your rights. Although airlines don’t have to compensate you or rebook your flight if there’s a weather-related delay, you can get a refund on canceled flights if you choose not to take an alternate flight, even if your ticket is nonrefundable. The Department of Transportation has a full list of what airlines will do for you if a flight is delayed or canceled on its website. Some classic lands are closing permanently, new attractions are coming, and we’re trying to keep up with it all while our melting Dole Whip runs down our fingers. Let’s dive into the biggest news from this week! Disney World has been a busy girl once again! Starting over in Magic Kingdom, the debut of the park’s new nighttime parade is drawing near. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away begins on July 20th, 2025, and we finally know when you can watch the parade! Disney Starlight concept art ©Disney You can catch the new nighttime parade at 9 PM and 11 PM each night that it runs! We also learned the parade will kick off on Main Street, U.S.A., and will end in Frontierland. The parade won’t run on the evenings when Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party occurs. ©Disney You’ll be able to see the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio kick off the parade before Disney Princesses, Miguel, Mirabel, Peter Pan, and more light up the Magic Kingdom! Learn more about the new parade here! Next up, it’s time to get hungry! Disney World’s newest restaurant is getting ready to open, and we finally have an expected date. ©Walt Disney World Dolphin Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina is now accepting reservations beginning on July 26th, 2025! We noticed the restaurant taking reservations over on OpenTable, but the restaurant has yet to confirm if this is the official opening date, so it could open earlier. The new table service will be a signature dining spot at the Swan and Dolphin Resort! ©Walt Disney World Dolphin Bourbon Steak is a chain restaurant, so we stopped by one of the open restaurants to see what it was all about. The menu hasn’t been released for the Disney World location, but some of the dishes on Disney’s website notes dishes including Bone-In Ribeye and Onion Rings, Warm Beignets with Various Sauces, and the Japanese Old Fashion Drink. ©Bourbon Steak You know we will put this new restaurant to the test as soon as we can! Read more about Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina here! Finally, the biggest news of all is that we finally know when Test Track is reopening in EPCOT! Get ready for some high-speed adventures starting again on July 22nd, 2025! Test Track The ride has been closed for over a year and is currently being rethemed into the third version that we’ve seen of this attraction. The newest version will be inspired by the classic EPCOT attraction, World of Motion, which was located where Test Track is now. ©Disney The ride will feature new scenes that will showcase technological advancements and demonstrate how “lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone.” Scenes will focus on onboard technology, customization, and personalization, ending with a trip through a scenic outdoor route. Test Track’s new sign Earlier this month, the new sign for the attraction was installed, meaning we were one step closer to opening. Disney confirmed they will host previews for the attraction, so if you’re an Annual Passholder, Cast Member, DVC Member, Club 33 Member, or Golden Oaks resident, keep your eyes peeled for more information. If you’ve been here a while, you know that we’re big fans of McDonald’s…and many of our readers are, too! McDonald’s The fast food giant is a staple in many a household, with iconic meals, fun limited-time treats, and of course, the classic Happy Meal. But recently, we got word that a fan-favorite item would be returning to the restaurants. McDonald’s recently announced that the beloved Snack Wrap is coming back in 2025! This item has been away for a while but will be back on menus starting on July 10th. McDonald’s According to TODAY, this isn’t just a limited-time run, this time the Snack Wrap is back for GOOD! The item has been off McDonald’s menus for nearly a decade, and it features a McCrispy Strip inside a tortilla with lettuce and shredded cheese. This go around, you can order the Snack Wrap in either “spicy” or “ranch” flavors. ©McDonald’s This treat was phased out from menus in 2016, and since, fans have been vying for its return. From social media campaigns to online petitions, McDonald’s has been inundated with requests to “bring back the Snack Wrap!” “From countless social media posts to full-fledged petitions, they never gave up on their favorite menu item. They’re the ones who inspired us to make its return to the menu happen,” said McDonald’s. Our text from McDonald’s The Snack Wrap has been available in Canada and the UK, but now you’ll be able to find it in the United States again, and boy are we HYPED. We have a feeling McDonald’s is going to be poppin’ on the day of its return, so plan ahead if you want to visit your local restaurant to snag it. Big news for Marvel fans! ©Marvel Marvel’s latest film was Thunderbolts, which will soon be available to stream from home, and their next one is Fantastic Four, which will release in theaters soon. We previously knew that Marvel announced that three films were on the company’s 2028 docket, but now it appears a FOURTH film has been added. Variety has reported that Disney has added a fourth Marvel film to their 2028 slate that will release on December 15th, 2028. This means that, if Disney sticks to the current release schedule, Marvel films would release in February, May, November, and now December of that year. ©Marvel It would also be an interesting move for the studio, considering Bob Iger just publicly announced that Marvel lost a little focus by making too many films. Specifically, in a recent earnings call, Iger said, “We all know that in our zeal to flood our streaming platform with more content, we turned to all of our creative engines, including Marvel, and had them produce a lot more. We’ve also learned over time that quantity does not necessarily beget quality. And frankly, we’ve all admitted to ourselves that we lost a little focus by making too much.” ©Marvel This tracks with what many audiences have commented on the Marvel films that have come after Avengers: Endgame. Many fans feel that the films have lost their spark and what made them special, but some have commented that they feel Thunderbolts was a step in the right direction. ©Marvel After The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases in theaters in July 2025, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday will release in 2026, and then in 2027, an untitled project will release in July and Avengers: Secret Wars in December. So jumping from two films a year to suddenly releasing four in 2028 will be an interesting change of pace. ©Marvel Looking for more recent Marvel news? Check out our posts below! If you’re a Disney+ subscriber and love rocking Adidas, you’re going to want to hear this. ©Disney There’s a brand-new perk that just dropped for Disney+ members, and this one’s got sneakerheads and comfy-clothes lovers buzzing. We’re talking exclusive savings on Adidas gear—but not just a couple bucks off. This is a real discount with real perks. Here’s everything you need to know before your next online shopping spree. Disney+ Subscribers Get 20% Off at Adidas Yep, you read that right. If you’ve got an active Disney+ subscription, you can now score 20% off on Adidas gear at adidas.com or through the Adidas app. This deal covers both full-price and sale items—which is already a win—but there’s a catch: you’ve gotta be signed into your adiClub account when you check out. ©Disney So if you’re not already part of adiClub (it’s free to join), now’s the time. The discount only works if you’re logged in, and it’s a one-time use offer, so you’ll want to make it count. Whether you’ve had your eye on a new pair of Ultraboosts (make sure to check the fine print on exclusions) or just want to refresh your workout wardrobe, this is a solid way to save. Here’s How It Works: You must be an active Disney+ subscriber. You need to be logged into your adiClub account when checking out. The offer is good for 20% off up to $250 worth of Adidas gear. The code works only once per customer and can’t be combined with other deals. ©Disney Now, before you start loading up your cart, know that not everything qualifies. Adidas has a list of exclusions—and it includes some of the trendiest shoes like the Gazelle, Samba, and anything in the Disney collab line (yeah, we were a little bummed about that too). Still, there are plenty of styles that do qualify, and the fact that sale items are included is a rare win. When Does This Deal Expire? This isn’t a forever thing. The offer expires August 28, 2025, at 9:59:59 AM PT, so while you’ve got time, don’t wait too long and forget about it. We’ve seen enough Disney+ perks come and go that we always recommend jumping on them sooner rather than later. What Can You Buy With the Discount? Let’s talk strategy. If you’re going to use a one-time discount, especially with a cap of $250, you’ll want to get the most bang for your buck. This is your moment to: Pick up a few new activewear pieces Replace those beat-up gym shoes Grab some classic tees and hoodies Scoop up kids’ gear before the next growth spurt hits ©Disney Just be sure to check the list of exclusions before you fall in love with something that doesn’t qualify. Trust us, we’ve been there, and it’s no fun having to rethink your whole cart. How to Redeem Once you’re ready to check out, enter the exclusive Disney+ promo code at checkout. (You’ll get that code through your Disney+ account portal—look for the perks section.) Just double-check that you’re signed into your adiClub account before applying the code, or it won’t work. And again: you only get one shot at this, so plan that cart wisely. Final Thoughts We love when Disney+ adds new perks for subscribers, especially when they’re this useful. While this one won’t get you front-of-line access or free churros in the parks, it will help you save on some top-tier gear that you’ll actually use. Disney’s BoardWalk has been undergoing some major changes for the past few months. Disney’s BoardWalk This spot is home to some great restaurants like The Cake Bake Shop and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, but there’s also plenty of shopping to do. However, lots of these shops have been closed for refurbishment for the past few months. That’s changing now, though, because one shop has finally reopened! Screen Door General Store is home to a few different sections, one of them being Thimbles & Threads. The refurbishment of this store began in February 2025 and took place in sections, so the store wouldn’t entirely close during the refurbishment. Now, Thimbles & Threads, the final part of the refurbishment, is complete! The refurbishment is complete! The entire store is now a bit brighter — with both the flooring and darker parts of the wall redone to be a lighter and neutral tone. Just take a look at what the store used to look like! Thimbles and Threads (2019) The checkout counters have also been changed — they’re smaller now, and the color scheme has been changed to fit with the lighter tone of the store. New checkout counters The displays are also now white/marbled instead of the darker brown color they used to be. The displays are lighter too We’re happy this now means the refurbishment on Screen Door General Store is now complete, which means there’s one less construction project going on in Disney World! Planning a trip to Disney World means you’ve got a TON of options when it comes to dining. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Welcome to Disney World We recently stopped by Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom to try a NEW plant-based dish, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! We stopped by Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom to try the new Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Roll for $12.49. This comes dressed and is served chilled with lettuce and tomato on a toasted roll. It sort of reminds us of the Plant-Based Toasted “Lobster” Roll from Rosie’s All-American Cafe at Hollywood Studios, so we’re excited to try it. Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Roll Upon first bite, we could taste the difference between the two. The artichokes really elevate the flavor of the Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Roll and help set it apart from the sandwich at Rosie’s. This one is a dollar more, and it feels like that money went toward better ingredients. The roll at Rosie’s is hit or miss. This one is perfectly toasted on the outside with a little crust, but then immediately turns soft and doughy. It has a buttered consistency on the outside — some might even call it greasy — and it tastes buttery too. Comes with your choice of side The filling is creamy and has a dill-forward flavor. The hearts of palm are softer than what we’ve had at Rosie’s, and this one also comes with lettuce and tomato, which we really like for the added freshness and texture. We like that you get to choose your side at Columbia Harbour House — fries, rice, or green beans. While the artichoke is a definite upgrade, we still prefer the dressing seasoned with Old Bay at Rosie’s, and even though our reporter prefers the texture of this one overall, they still liked the one at Rosie’s better based on flavor. With that being said, we are sad about losing the Crispy Mushroom Roll that this new sandwich replaced at Columbia Harbour House. An excellent plant-based option We’re always on the hunt for the newest eats around Disney World to review for you. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news and more. BEST Snacks at Magic Kingdom for 2025 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! When you go to Disney World, things are WEIRD. Magic Kingdom There’s a whole language you learn when planning Disney trips (things like Lightning Lane and MagicBand+), scheduling can be shockingly detailed, and fans in the parks certainly have some interesting obsessions. So today, we’re breaking down some weird traditions you’ll probably only see in Disney World. Trash Cans Are Revered Only in Disney World are trash cans an entire way of life. People “ooh” and “ahh” over trash can designs in Disney World to the point that some have even been made into merchandise. And on top of that, they’re commonly used as tables…there are whole memes about it on the internet. Trash can table! Essentially, if you’ve never eaten on top of an EPCOT trash can during a festival, have you really been to Disney World? It’s kind of a rite of passage. And show the trash cans some respect — they do have a cult following, after all. Smells Are an Obsession Speaking of weird obsessions…what about the Disney World SMELLS?! Some rides, attractions, and locations are known for their unique scents. So much so that people make candles and wax melts themed to things like the water on Pirates of the Caribbean or baked goods in Main Street Confectionery. Pirates of the Caribbean We love a good whiff of a popcorn stand just as much as the next guy, but some of the best smells aren’t even in the parks…they’re in the hotel lobbies! Seriously, sometimes it’s nice to just sit in the Grand Flo lobby, inhale, and relax. You Spill Your Secrets to a Stranger The Disney characters are SO friendly that even though you’ve never met them before your vacation, you may find yourself spilling all your secrets to them. Mickey Mouse or Princess Belle can be incredibly good listeners when you stop by for a chat. Mickey Mouse It’s sometimes surprising how much a short meet-and-greet can make such a big impact on your vacation vibes. That’s why we often recommend meeting characters — it may not be the most thrilling pastime, but the interactions can be incredibly memorable. Fan Clubs for Robots Across Disney World, there are literally hundreds of animatronics. And some are INCREDIBLY popular! From the foxy scientist on Spaceship Earth to John Progress on Carousel of Progress, it’s like some of these robots have literal fan clubs. Our favorite scientist! Of course, we can’t help it if we’re simping for the Captain Jack Sparrow animatronic on Pirates of the Caribbean or if the drunk hippo on “it’s a small world” makes us giggle every time. And don’t even get us started on those birds in the Tiki Room — true icons in the animatronic world! Carry Cafeteria Trays and Tupperware in Your Backpack When you’re as dedicated to Disney snacks as we are, you pack some pretty strange things in your park bag. When we hit EPCOT on the opening days of festivals, you’ll often see us carrying trays for our food spreads, and on busy snack days, we’ve got backpacks filled with Tupperware. We always bring a tray! And this odd behavior is just the price we pay for enjoying lots of delicious Disney eats. So what if we get awkward stares from the people around us when we whip out a container and pack up our cupcake? Quoting Our Favorite Rides and Shows Last but not least, there are very few places in the world where you’ll find so many people quoting rides and attractions with absolute gusto. From greeting other Disney fans with a cheery “heeeelllooooo there” to having the Stretching Room script committed to memory, it’s a true lifestyle. Dr. Grant Seeker — HERO of the DINOSAUR pre-show So if you find yourself doing any of these things in Disney World, you might be a MAJOR Disney fan! It’s kind of incurable, but you can definitely help the symptoms with frequent vacations and lots of Disney movies at home. Stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates!
