  1. Sometimes Disney can be a little sneaky when it comes to dropping info about events happening at Disney World. Lucky for you, we’re constantly searching every platform to see if Disney is slipping in new details on what’s to come. Cinderella Castle One way we’ve been doing this is to search the posted Disney World auditions and see if Disney dropped a few details we can snatch up. The first audition we saw was for the Frozen Holiday Surprise! This show goes on the castle stage in Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. ©Disney They’re currently looking for Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. Frozen at Hollywood Studios The next one is an open call for Character Look-Alikes for a special event. We’re not exactly sure what special event this is, but our guess is characters for Jollywood Nights, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, or events like the Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic, which often have rarer characters to meet. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider Making a special appearance in Magic Kingdom for Cool KID SUMMER They’re looking for Look-Alikes for the Fairy Godmother, Isabela, and Tiana, along with Shang, Flynn Rider, and Prince Eric. The Fairy Godmother We’ve been seeing auditions for a little while now, but they are also looking for actors for What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas show, which is in Hollywood Studios for Jollywood Nights. What’s This? in Hollywood Studios Another listing we saw that is now closed was for performers for the Holidays in Hollywood show, which features incredible dancing, princesses, and, the best part, Kermit and Miss Piggy. Holidays in Hollywood If you fit any of these roles, make sure you’re checking out the Disney Auditions page and keep following Disney Food Blog for more! 2. Planning a trip to Disney World is difficult enough without worrying about which new snacks to try! Woody’s Lunch Box That’s why we do the worrying for you. One of our favorite places to stop for a quick bite to eat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Woody’s Lunch Box. This spot recently got a new treat, so we headed over to check it out! We stopped by Woody’s Lunch Box to try the PB&J Lunch Box Tart that was recently released! This is a Peanut Butter-filled Pastry topped with Grape Jelly Fondant, Purple Sprinkles, and Gold Crispy Pearls, and you can get it for $4.99. PB&J Tart Okay, we know this said it’s a peanut butter AND jelly tart — but we detected virtually no grape jelly flavor anywhere here. To us, the fondant on top just tasted like regular icing, with no real flavor other than sweetness. We did enjoy the peanut butter filling. It was creamy, but we wish there had been more of it because overall, this tart was very dry. We needed to pause for some water while eating it because it was so dry. The peanut butter pearls on top were a fun addition that provided a nice crunch, and the pastry itself was the typical shortbread you get with these tarts. It was buttery and salty and definitely crumbly. This wasn’t the best Lunch Box Tart we’ve had, but peanut butter fans would probably still enjoy it! A solid option We’re always on the lookout for exciting new snacks to review around Disney World. In the meantime, stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news! 3. Booking a Disney Cruise in 2026? Time to let go of some old habits. ©Disney The way people used to plan Disney Cruises is changing—fast. Whether you’re a first-timer or a repeat sailor, some of the go-to strategies just don’t work the way they used to. We’re breaking down three planning “rules” that straight up won’t help you in 2026—and what to do instead to actually get the most out of your cruise. Booking a Cruise Just Because It’s “New” We get it—the idea of being on the newest Disney Cruise Line ship is super tempting. Maybe you’re hoping for exclusive experiences, cutting-edge entertainment, or that “wow” factor you haven’t seen before. But here’s the deal: by 2026, you’ll find that a lot of the offerings are overlapping between ships. Disney Wish Sure, the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny will still feel shiny and exciting. But don’t assume “new ship” automatically means “new experience.” Many of the shows, restaurants, and even kids’ clubs are intentionally duplicated across multiple ships in the fleet. That means you might board a brand-new ship only to find it has the same exact dinner rotation and nightly entertainment as the cruise you took two years ago. Worlds of Marvel, Disney Cruise Line’s Marvel-themed dining experience, will host Disney Treasure guests for two distinct nights, including a brand-new offering that will showcase the lively duo Rocket and Groot from the blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. (Kent Phillips, photographer) Before you hit that “book now” button just because something launched recently, take a minute to compare what’s actually offered. Want a brand new Broadway-style show? Unique dining concept? Different itineraries? You’ve got to dig through the details. If you’re going for something fresh, make sure it’s actually different from what you’ve already done. Waiting for a Last-Minute Deal This one feels like a rite of passage for cruise fans. Wait it out. Snag that late discount. Score a magically cheap fare and sail off into the sunset. That’s the fantasy—but in 2026, that’s not how Disney Cruise Line is playing the game. ©Disney Disney cruises don’t usually drop in price closer to sail date. If anything, they get more expensive or even sell out completely. As more people are getting back into travel (especially cruising), demand is going up—and Disney knows it. The cheapest prices you’ll see are usually right when the itineraries are released, not months later. ©Disney That whole “wait and see” strategy just doesn’t make sense anymore. You’re not only risking higher prices, but also limited cabin options and missing out on early activity bookings like specialty dining or excursions. Want a cabana at Lookout Cay? Those things are gone if you book last-minute. Cabanas! So yeah, if you’re aiming for a specific ship, date, or room category, waiting will cost you—either in dollars or experience. We find that the BEST way to book a Disney cruise and know you’re getting the best deal available is to use a travel agent who specializes in Disney — we recommend Small World Vacations! You can grab a free quote from them right here! Assuming You Don’t Have to Plan “Because It’s a Cruise” There’s a long-standing myth that cruises are the easy button of vacation planning. You book it, you show up, you float, you’re done. But Disney Cruise Line is not a “wing it” kind of trip—especially not anymore. Minnie Mouse aboard the Disney Treasure Yes, there’s less chaos than a week in the parks. But there are still tons of moving parts that need planning if you want to do more than just float around eating soft serve. We’re talking spa treatments, adult dining, kids’ club times, character meets, themed nights, excursions, rotational dining preferences—you name it. The Disney Wish includes an Imagineering Lab for kids! Disney Cruise Line opens up activity reservations in a staggered system based on Castaway Club status (aka how many times you’ve cruised). That means Platinum and Gold members get first dibs—and if you’re new or Silver status, you’re booking what’s left. You’ll need to know when you can book, what’s available, and have a plan ready the moment your window opens. ©Disney And don’t forget the online check-in process, which includes choosing a port arrival time. Miss the early slots and you could be boarding way later than you want, and that’s time you could have spent exploring the ship or grabbing lunch. Bottom line: yes, Disney Cruises come with a lot included, but they’re not a hands-off experience. You still need to plan. The Black Panther! If you’re heading into a 2026 Disney Cruise with the same mindset you had five years ago, you’re probably setting yourself up for disappointment. Cruise planning has changed, and sticking to old habits might mean higher prices, fewer options, and a less-than-magical experience. 4. Celebrities come to Disney Parks all the time, but that doesn’t mean we get any less excited when we see a familiar face. Pluto is going to be at Cool Kid Summer! Lilo & Stitch star, Maia Kealoha, who plays the most adorable Lilo you’ve ever seen, has made her way to Disney World to enjoy Cool Kid Summer. Maia headed to Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios! Looks to us like that might be her version of a Hawaiian Roller Coaster ride. ©Disney She also had to meet Minnie, of course! Maia and Minnie are fashion icons, so it was so cute to see the two of them together. ©Disney Then she headed to the new Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. This new show has Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Captain Hook competing against each other to decide who has been treated the most unfairly of them all. ©Disney She ended her visit dancing with Stitch at his dance party in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. Maia broke out the hula moves with her movie bestie. ©Disney Want to experience your own Cool Kid Summer? Come on down to Disney World! The party runs until September 1st. You can meet fun characters at Animation Courtyard in Hollywood Studios… Animation Courtyard …or get down with Goofy over in EPCOT in GoofyCore. LOTS of fun here! There are numerous dance parties around the parks, as well as coloring and craft activities, and unique character interaction spots. 5. When Walt Disney World reopens its Test Track attraction at Epcot, visitors can expect a new look and a new future-pointed emphasis during the indoor-outdoor ride that zooms over theme park goers. “Previous versions of the ride were very technical. They were car safety. It was kind of showing how cars were designed,” Dan Brookwell, senior project designer, said Monday. “We wanted to take this humanity lens to the project where we represented this human drive to innovate, this notion that we’ve always been dreaming,” he said. Test Track’s track remains the same as its predecessors, but its surroundings are changing. “We brought in a brand new show to the attraction,” said Lisa Dowd, senior producer with Walt Disney Imagineering, said during a preview for members of the media. The queue for new Test Track includes a trio of concept cars from General Motors, dating from 1900. These are followed by small-scale concepts have been in development more recently. “It was important that the last exhibit be future-forward,” Dowd said. The ride portion has distinctly Epcot qualities that are futuristic, educational and a bit dad jokey. Lighting effects, which demonstrate how self-driving vehicles avoid disaster, may give vibes from Magic Kingdom’s Tron Lightcycle / Run coaster. The sharp turns of the track roll through natural scenes, Disney dark-ride style. A new scene is a wide-open domed screen featuring what could be called a great, big beautiful tomorrow. “You’re in this future city, so you see future architecture all around you and the flying cars,” Dowd said. “It’s really about the future of mobility.” That space was inspired by Walt Disney’s original view of Epcot, Brookwell said. “It was this place where technology and transportation and innovation is kind of woven through the fabric of the city. We took a lot of cues from that,” he said. And then, almost without warning, Test Track vehicles zip out into the fresh air of Epcot onto the familiar, yet breathtaking course that hugs close to the building at about 65 mph. When you spy the top of the nearby Mexico pavilion, the trip is almost over. Concept cars are on display in the Test Track queue at Epcot. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel)Test Track’s official reopening day is July 22. Disney World workers have been experiencing previews for a few days, and annual passholders will have ride opportunities during the week of July 13 using a virtual queue system. The attraction has been closed since last summer to make the changes. It’s the third version of Test Track, which debuted in 1999 and then was re-imagined in 2012. The area was the site of World of Motion, which opened with Epcot in 1982. (A World of Motion song called “It’s Fun to Be Free” is heard during the dark ride stretch.) “We have this beautiful building that’s been here since day one — 1982 — so it’s a little bit of celebrating the building and rediscovering the building,” Dowd said. 7. On June 29th, a child fell overboard on the Disney Dream cruise ship, causing her father to jump in after her. The Disney Dream The incident occurred as the ship was returning to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from a four-night Bahamian sailing, according to The Street. The father and daughter were quickly rescued once crews became aware of what had happened. The emergency code “Mr. M.O.B.” (man overboard) was announced over the ship’s intercom, prompting a swift response from crew members. Disney Dream A Disney Cruise Line spokesperson told USA Today, “We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols.” Passengers on the Disney Dream shared videos to social media of the crew, showing them launching life preservers and a rescue boat within minutes. The rescue took place while the Disney Dream was sailing between the Bahamas and Florida. The child reportedly fell from Deck 4, which is where the walking track is located. Disney Dream at Castaway Cay One passenger on the ship, Kevin Furuta, said on Facebook: “On the last day of our Dream voyage and it is an at Sea Day. A girl fell overboard from the 4th deck & her dad went in after her. Right after the incident we heard on the loud speaker MOB Port side!! Thankfully, the DCL rescue team was on it immediately and both were saved!” Disney Dream Since the ship has plexiglass safety barriers, it’s still unclear as to how the child was able to go overboard. Disney Cruise Line ships are equipped with overboard detection systems that are designed to alert the crew to any potential incidents in real-time. In addition, all Disney Cruise Line passengers are required to participate in a muster drill, in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard and international safety regulations. Railings onboard the Disney Dream are at least 42 inches in height to help prevent falling, along with 24/7 security and surveillance designed to the same. We love Disney Cruises! Luckily, in this case and in general, the crew onboard Disney Cruise ships are fully trained and equipped to handle situations like this, should they ever unfortunately happen. Disney has various safety measures in place, but it’s important to remember to abide by all safety rules and listen to crew member instructions while you’re onboard. While it’s still unclear how this overboard incident happened, we’re glad that Disney Cruise Line crew members were able to rescue the girl and her father quickly and safely. 10. Hollywood Studios just got a little cooler—and we mean that literally and figuratively. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cool Kid Summer has officially landed across all four Disney World parks, and there’s a lot happening. From special entertainment and roaming characters to snacks and dancing, the energy is big this year. We took a walk through Hollywood Studios to check it all out, and let’s just say, Disney didn’t hold back. Here’s what you need to know if you’re heading that way this summer. Animation Courtyard Is THE Place To Be Right Now If you’ve passed by Animation Courtyard thinking it’s just a spot for photos or a Disney Junior pit stop, think again. This summer, the area has been completely re-energized with the Cool Kid Summer offerings. There’s now live entertainment, pop-up performances, and tons of character interactions happening all day long. It’s loud. It’s colorful. It’s very much alive. So fun! We’re talking jugglers, magicians, and even some impressive jump rope performers showing off for the crowds. And characters? They’re everywhere. Donald and Goofy? Check. Chip and Dale? Also check. Clarabelle Cow? Yes, and she’s actually sitting with families, coloring at tables like she’s part of the group. Clarabelle Cow hanging out It doesn’t feel like a traditional meet-and-greet. It feels like you stumbled into a street festival—Disney-style. Meet-and-Greets Feel More Personal (and Random, In a Fun Way) One thing we really loved about the character setup is that not all the interactions are staged. You’ve still got a few traditional lines if you want a posed photo, but a lot of the characters are roaming. Donald That means kids (and let’s be honest, adults too) can have more spontaneous, low-pressure moments. Clarabelle might plop down next to you while you’re coloring. Donald might sneak up behind you while you’re watching a juggler. Juggler It feels more playful and way more engaging than the usual structured meet-and-greets. And if your kid is shy about waiting in a big line for Mickey, this style might actually get them excited to interact without the pressure. Say Goodbye (for Now) to the Disney Junior Dance Party In case you were hoping to catch the usual Disney Junior Dance Party, there’s been a bit of a switch-up. That space has now been rebranded for the summer as Get Animated—a new, more immersive dance experience that feels like Disney’s version of a music festival for kids. And we’re kind of into it. Get Animated The party runs all day, so you can drop in whenever, stay as long as your toddler’s energy lasts, and duck out without feeling like you’re missing a “show.” There’s a live DJ, bubbles everywhere, and characters like Fancy Nancy and Timon actually on the dance floor getting down with guests. Get Animated! It’s more than just watching performers from a distance—it’s full participation mode, and most of the kids there were all in. Cool Vibes, Even Cooler Snacks All that dancing, coloring, and courtyard fun will wear you out fast—so Disney made sure there’s a place to refuel nearby. Get Refreshed is a brand new snack stand set up right in the heart of the action, and it’s giving healthier summer vibes. Think granola bars, fresh fruit, and drinks from Once Upon a Farm. Get Refreshed snack stand It’s a welcome change from the usual heavy theme park snacks. These are grab-and-go options that won’t make you feel like you need a nap afterward. If you’ve got picky eaters or kids who crash fast in the heat, it’s worth swinging by here instead of hunting for a snack cart with churros and popcorn again. Is It Worth Your Time? Yes, But… If you’ve got little ones, Animation Courtyard should absolutely be on your park plan this summer. Even if you don’t, it’s worth walking through just to soak up the energy and maybe spot a character or two you haven’t seen before. But here’s the thing—this area gets crowded fast. It’s not a huge space, and with everything happening at once, it can feel a little packed. Plenty of characters to meet Our advice? Swing by earlier in the day before the crowds settle in, or hit it later in the afternoon when the dance party is still going but some families have already called it quits. The roaming characters and pop-up entertainment seem to happen pretty much all day, so you won’t miss out either way. Final Thoughts Cool Kid Summer is a solid win for Hollywood Studios. It brings a much-needed breath of life to a part of the park that usually flies under the radar. Whether you’re traveling with kids or just want to see something a little different, this is one of the easiest, most laid-back ways to add a little extra fun to your day. No ride reservation, no Lightning Lane, no pressure. Get Animated! Don’t worry, you can still hear the cars zooming by on the track. During our tour of the new ride, one of the ride’s producers, Lisa, made a point to tell us that the canopy was brand new — and that the lighting at night is spectacular. Hear those cars! How about this queue? Disney said the new queue would “feature six distinct exhibits, and within each room celebrate the vehicles — and the people behind the vehicles.” Disney opened up the queue quite a bit in order to let more light in — including reopening the section of the track that goes by a window in the first part of the queue. This is similar to how the queue was during the ride’s first iteration. New exhibit! The original queue didn’t have a specific theme as much as Chevrolet cars, but now we can take a deep dive into the history of moving vehicles. This feels like a homage to the original World of Motion pavilion. The queue takes you from the early 1900s to the present day. It’s a look back in time, along with the dreams of what the future may hold. Check out the new queue! The last part of the queue focuses on what we are creating and crafting today — what materials and energy are being used as we actively figure out the future. The queue even features a GM concept vehicle from 1969 on display. We also learned that all of the artwork on the walls is actual concept art from GM! The question on everyone’s mind: Can you still design your own car and link it to your ride? Design station (2024) The answer to that is NO. There is no more “design your own car” section of the attraction or the queue. Instead, you’ll head straight to the loading area. Loading Area Hop on in because now we’re getting to the good stuff. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for! Let’s ride! Let’s go! Right off the bat, we noticed that the song “It’s Fun to Be Free” (the original World of Motion theme song) was played as an instrumental after the narrator says the words “It’s Fun to Be Free,” but the original lyrics are not performed. There’s also a new intentional ride smell to join the likes of Spaceship Earth and Soarin’ — it’s a very pleasant pine smell that didn’t smell like a cleaning solution but more like a candle you would purchase on sale in a store. Time to ride! In the large dome room, there was a reference to the old EPCOT attraction, Horizons! Lisa shared with us that the writers put that Easter egg in as a little reference to the former ride in the “dome room.” LOVE this reference to Horizons! We also learned that one of the six new scenes depicts how cars can use enhanced cameras and sensors to “see” the world around them, and Disney made that come to life with over 29,000 points of light in one scene. You’ll notice it as you’re going through the alpine scene with all the trees (and don’t forget to take a big whiff of the pine tree scent being piped in!). SO many trees How different did this newly reimagined ride feel compared to the previous version? While we feel that fans of the original ride will still think that version is superior (and we agree), we do feel that this is an improvement over the previous edition. We feel it’s a really great upgrade for the technology and narrative used in the ride, and we’re excited that this is how Test Track is now being represented. Lots of new scenes! 12. Did you know, The Walt Disney Company has more than 160,000 U.S. employees across all 50 states? With Walt Disney World as the largest and most visited theme park destination in the world, more than 80,000 of those cast members are right here in Florida. Not all of them can be found in our six parks or more than 25 resort hotels, though. From the Orlando International Airport to the Disney Central Reservations Center, let’s meet the cast members who make magic beyond the gates of Walt Disney World. Meet Irene Wachira. Originally from Kenya, she had a dream to work at The Most Magical Place On Earth. After completing a Disney International Program at Kilimanjaro Safaris in Animal Kingdom, she became an agent at Disney Central in Orlando, a Disney World reservation and call center. Fun Fact: There is a second Disney Central in Tampa where even more cast members help guests plan their next Disney vacation. “I’ve created a family here and built relationships with guests planning their next vacation,” Irene said. As one of the first cast members a guest speaks to, she helps families build their perfect Walt Disney World stay. “This can be someone’s first trip or their 100th trip,” she said. “I want to make their visit as magical and unique as it can be.” Over at the Orlando International Airport, guests meet cast members like Holly Pettway. She’s a Merchandise Guest Experience Manager at the Magic of Disney store. More than 30 years ago, she learned about the Disney College Program and has made Central Florida her home ever since. “I feel fortunate to have worked for the same company for over half my life,” Holly said. Holly has worked at multiple merchandise locations throughout Walt Disney World but says Magic of Disney holds a special place in her heart. At the airport, she’s often the first — or last — Disney cast member guests see when they visit Central Florida. And working at Magic of Disney, she has the opportunity to match fans with the perfect piece of Disney merchandise, so that they can take a piece of the magic home with them. In fact, Disney is the No. 1 licensor of consumer products in the U.S., with about 500 American licensee companies touching every product category. While visiting Orlando, guests may meet cast members like Vini Matheus at Disney’s Character Warehouse. This Orlando Premium Outlet store lets guests take home the Disney magic they might have missed at the parks. Vini’s journey began in 2022 at Disney’s Character Warehouse in South Florida. “If it wasn’t for the leaders and mentors I had, I don’t think I would be where I am today,” Vini said. Today, Vini trains new cast members while encouraging them to take advantage of opportunities that come their way — doing for them what previous mentors did for him. Some people may not know that there are “backstage” Disney World offices and buildings across the state – like the Costuming Storage Warehouse. Here, cast members like Yoanis Mendez produce and provide all of the resort’s operational cast costumes, including our Disney Cruise Line cast who also call Florida home. Starting in 2019, Yoanis helped entertainment cast shine while performing at the Theater of the Stars. She now helps cast feel show-ready at every location across Walt Disney World. “I may be a small piece in the big puzzle that helps cast get the costumes they need, but I know that makes a big impact,” Yoanis said. “It’s amazing to go into the park and see the cast smiling while wearing costumes I helped produce or deliver.” For the latest roles available at and around Walt Disney World, visit DisneyCareers.com. 13. In June 2024, Test Track closed in EPCOT to make way for a reimagined version of the ride. Test Track Test Track 3.0 opens to the public on July 22nd, 2025, and although we’ve already had a chance to check it out, we can’t wait to ride it again and again. Ahead of the ride’s reopening, Disney shared details about how the queue will work — and confirmed there will be NO Virtual Queue when the ride reopens. Test Track 3.0 officially reopens on July 22nd, 2025, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience this newly reimagined ride. Disney confirmed that when the ride does reopen, it will be available via the standby line and Lightning Lane Multi Pass. There will not be a Virtual Queue for Test Track when it reopens. Test Track Sometimes, Disney will utilize a Virtual Queue for a ride’s reopening if they think demand for the ride is quite high. While we do expect there to be quite a big crowd for Test Track’s reopening, it seems as though Disney doesn’t anticipate the standby line getting too long for the ride. Queue entrance As Test Track is added to the Tier 1 lineup for Lightning Lane Multi Pass on July 22nd, Soarin’ will move to being a Tier 2 attraction. After July 22nd, the Lightning Lane Multi Pass tiers for EPCOT will be: Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following Tier 1 list: Test Track Frozen Ever After Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all 3) from the following Tier 2 list: Soarin’ Around the World Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Journey Into Imagination with Figment Living With the Land Mission: SPACE The Seas with Nemo and Friends Spaceship Earth Turtle Talk with Crush The new queue We recently got the chance to preview the NEW Test Track 3.0 before it officially opens, and you can check out our full thoughts here! 14. GEO-82 is officially open, and let us tell you—this lounge is NOT your average Disney World watering hole. Geo-82 It’s sophisticated, pricey, and tucked away in a spot you’ve probably walked past a hundred times without noticing. And just like Cinderella’s Royal Table, you’re mostly paying for the atmosphere, the exclusivity, and the bragging rights. Here’s what you should know before you grab a reservation—and why this new EPCOT lounge might just be your next must-do (if you’re willing to splurge). If you’ve ever wished EPCOT had a signature “grown-up” dining experience that felt just a little secret and a lot luxurious, then say hello to GEO-82: A Spaceship Earth Lounge. GEO-82 It opened quietly on June 4th, 2025, in a space you probably didn’t even realize existed—right behind Spaceship Earth, inside the structure guests exit into after the ride. Where it located You’ll spot the discreet entrance tucked in the back of the Project Tomorrow space, and once inside, you’ll head upstairs to a sleek waiting area. From there, it’s all about rich metallic tones, mood lighting, geometric textures, and a zen that feels worlds away from the theme park chaos outside. GEO-82 Disney says the name GEO-82 is a nod to the opening year of Spaceship Earth—1982—and the lounge pulls inspiration from the attraction’s iconic design and legacy. Think elevated EPCOT nostalgia with a heavy dose of sophistication. GEO-82 Now, let’s talk exclusivity. First, GEO-82 only accepts guests 21 and up. Second, Advance Dining Reservations are required — at least for now. And third? If you want the best seats in the house late in the evening — the ones facing out to the World Celebration Gardens — you’ll need to book the GEO-82 Fireworks Experience, which is part of Disney World’s Enchanting Extras Collection and costs a hefty $179 per person. Yes, that’s before drinks. Yes, we did it anyway. And no, we don’t regret it. Luminous as seen from GEO-82 The fireworks experience includes sweet and savory bites (tasting tower-style), champagne poured tableside, and cocktails you can’t get anywhere else in Disney World. Watching Luminous: The Symphony of Us from inside GEO-82 is honestly one of the most peaceful, stylish ways to cap off an EPCOT evening — no elbowing for a good view, no kids on shoulders, no race for a bench. Luminous as seen from GEO-82 Even outside the fireworks package, the lounge alone is an experience. GEO-82 is 100% designed for adults who want a break from the theme park pace. The vibe is grown-up, quiet, and intentional. You’re not grabbing a drink to-go here. You’re sitting down, staying awhile, and enjoying the show — whether that’s the skyline outside or the bartenders crafting drinks like it’s performance art. Crafting the cocktail Speaking of drinks, the cocktail menu is stacked with choices that feel genuinely unique. Some standouts? The Brown Butter Old Fashioned (served with a Spaceship Earth ice cube because of course it is) and the Banana Brûlée Highball, which tastes like dessert in the best way. Brown Butter Old Fashioned If you’re into mezcal, try the Electron — it’s earthy, spicy, and comes with pink peppercorns. The Exclusive Disney Select Bourbon Flight is $45, but it includes high-end pours like Blanton’s Gold and Stagg Private Barrel, which makes it one of the best-value high-end bourbon tastings we’ve seen at Disney. Electron Zero-proof cocktails also get their due here. A Walk Through the Garden might sound delicate, but it’s complex and layered with things like basil, fennel, and celery bitters. It’s clearly designed for people who don’t want a sugary substitute, and that’s a nice change. It looks like a real cocktail! The food menu leans toward small plates, with flavors that borrow from global cuisine but keep things upscale. The Jumbo Lump Crab Gâteau comes with caviar and a pickled mustard seed vinaigrette — it’s the kind of dish you eat slowly because it feels like an event. Jumbo Lump Crab Gâteau There’s also a charcuterie board and a beautifully plated Truffled Ahi Tuna dish. Portions are on the small side, which tracks — it’s a lounge, not a dinner reservation. But everything we tried felt well-crafted and thoughtful. So—should you go? Here’s the deal: This isn’t the place to swing by on a whim, and it’s not going to be for everyone. If you’re already drinking around the world, these elevated cocktails are probably overkill. And if you’re in full-on family vacation mode, GEO-82 won’t work unless someone takes the kids for a bit. Chef’s Selection Charcuterie But if you’re looking for a luxe escape from the crowds — somewhere to sip, snack, and relax in style—GEO-82 might be your new favorite hidden gem in EPCOT. Just know going in that you’re paying for the experience more than anything else. It’s giving VIP, not value. A Walk Through the Garden Mocktail We’ll be watching to see how hard it becomes to snag a reservation in the coming months, but for now? GEO-82 is that rare thing: a Disney lounge that feels like an actual find. It’s tucked away, it’s adults-only, and it’s absolutely worth experiencing at least once — if only to say you did. The new themeing includes an all-new musical score, new scenes, and new ride vehicles. The retheme focuses on highlighting technology that makes our cars smarter and our lives more fun! ©Disney The theme is also inspired by World of Motion, the EPCOT attraction that was previously located where Test Track is now. Disney has shared that there are 29,000 points of light throughout the retheme and that the attraction continues to celebrate technology while reminding us that a road trip is about “spending quality time in the company of friends and family while embracing the beauty of the world around.” Test Track We can’t wait to have even more high-speed adventures once the ride officially opens this July! 17. Magic Kingdom has a new spot for getting fancy! Magic Kingdom The park is currently changing in a lot of ways by updating Big Thunder Mountain, reimagining Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and adding two new major expansions! The park’s newest change might not be a major land change, but it still signals a long-awaited reopening. Let’s check it out! Frontierland is going through some big updates! Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America are closing permanently on July 7th, 2025, changing the way this area has looked since the park opened in 1971. Big Thunder Mountain is also closed for refurbishment until 2026. Tom Sawyer Island Luckily for us, Frontierland’s newest change is an opening and not a closing! Prairie Outpost is now open! This store was previously a candy shop, and it’s been closed since 2020. We had long assumed this store was abandoned until Disney confirmed the shop would reopen with some changes. Prairie Outpost The new store sells hats and accessories like top hats, visors, sun hats, ball caps, fascinators, berets, and more! It’s located between Country Bear Jamboree and Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. Let’s head inside! The new store offers 10% Annual Passholder Discounts and military discounts. Cast Member discounts and magical extras from stays at the Disney Springs resorts will get you 15% off! Inside the store! They do not ship outside of the store here, but Chapel Hats at Disney Springs can and will ship for a fee. So. Many. Hats. The store also has accessories and pins that are magnetic to put on your hat so you don’t poke or damage it. New pins and accessories! They also offer elastic bands to fit around the hat, feathers to decorate them, and even some jeweled bands that are themed to different attractions around Magic Kingdom. The accessories! For the jeweled bands, you can find this frog inspired by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure… A frog for Tiana! …a castle for Cinderella’s Castle… The castle! …a pirate skull for Pirates of the Caribbean… Pirate pin! … and a skull with silver detailing for the Haunted Mansion! Haunted Mansion! If you want one of these fancy hats but don’t want to carry it around the park (or wear it), there’s a solution! You can make your purchase and then pick it up at the store later in the day; however, they do ask that you pick up your purchase at least 30 minutes prior to the park closing. Which one will we choose? There are tons of designs, colors, and options for anyone looking to add some flair to their outfit or just protect their heads from the sun! Another look at the store! The store isn’t huge, but it will be a great spot to take a break from the heat when you need it. Here to check out! We’re excited that this latest change is an addition and not another subtraction. 18. A new Disney Vacation Club Resort hotel will open in Disney World in 2027: Disney Lakeshore Lodge! ©Disney We’ve been keeping a close eye on the progress at this new Deluxe hotel and can’t wait for it to officially open. Lakeshore Lodge will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” Thanks to newly released photos, we now have a new aerial view of how things are progressing. Thanks to @bioreconstruct over on X/Twitter, we’ve got a new aerial look at progress on the new Lakeshore Lodge Resort coming to the Magic Kingdom area at Disney World. The new hotel is expected to open sometime in 2027, though an official opening date or timeline has not yet been confirmed. In the photo below, you can see just how large of a footprint this hotel will have! via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Lakeshore Lodge will be joining the Magic Kingdom area resorts, and you can see its location in relation to Wilderness Lodge (above), Fort Wilderness (below), and the Contemporary Resort (top right corner) in the photo below. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Originally, Disney announced a hotel called Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge for this space and pretty much never discussed it again, eventually turning the idea into Lakeshore Lodge instead. The brand-new hotel will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” In previously released concept art, we can see what appears to be a sign above the entrance to the hotel saying “The Wonders of Nature are Endless”. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter While we haven’t heard an update since the hotels changed names, originally this resort was announced as an ALL-NEW Disney Vacation Club hotel with more than 900 rooms. This could have changed since the new direction. In that concept art, we also saw some of these cabin-like rooms that appear to be up in the trees. Again, we aren’t sure, but this could be a possibility. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter We can’t wait to see more of this hotel construction as it progresses, and we’ll be on the lookout for more! 20. Heads up if you’re visiting Disney World soon! Rainy Day Summer in Disney World is VERY rainy as is, but there’s also the chance of tropical storms and potential hurricanes as the storm season runs from June 1st to November 30th. If you’re heading to Disney World soon, you’ll want to pack your rain gear and prepare for some storms, because there’s a chance of a tropical storm heading to Disney World. The potential for this storm to develop is currently low, at about a 20% chance. It’s too early to determine if it could affect east central Florida, which includes Disney World. ©National Weather Service However, regardless of whether it develops or not, there is a significant chance of heavier rain from the Fourth of July through the weekend, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry may also move over to Florida. The National Weather Service says, “Unsettled conditions with high rain chances expected to continue into the extended forecast range as the stalled front, accompanied by copious moisture, sags into the southeast and towards Florida. 21. The City Beautiful’s life passes before your eyes at “Orlando Collected,” an exhibit at Orange County Regional History Center that marks the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of our town. The museum selected 150 items from its archives and suggestions from community members to create a walk-through sampler of Orlando’s past. It’s not presented as a linear timeline; items are clustered into themes. Yet, there’s a general mishmash impression, sort of like digging through Nana’s attic. One wall has photos of Gary’s Duck Inn restaurant, the Orlando Gay Chorus, Stuff the Orlando Magic’s dragon and the Jones High School band visit to Washington, D.C., in 1964. But over there are signs for Dandelion CommuniTea Cafe and Ivey’s Drug Store. There’s nostalgia and history early and often. Before entering the exhibit proper, there are paintings of old school Orlando. Squint and imagine what’s currently there. (Thank goodness for the Angebilt Hotel, but more on it later.) “Orlando Collected” can be educational and emotional, prompting happy, sad and sentimental feelings. Here I’ve clumped some exhibition items into my own gut-feeling categories. Simpler times The wording of advertising and promotional pieces can feel dated. “Try me again” says political flier for Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy, running for city commissioner in 1976. In one photo we can see large letter signage for Yowell-Duckworth Co. that reads “Orlando’s largest store. Quality did it.” History in the making Under glass, there’s the handwritten incorporation papers for Orlando, which was approved by 22 qualified voters. Nearby is the 1920 deed for Greenwood Cemetery. And there’s a 1910 photo of the Rogers Building on South Magnolia Avenue. It’s now considered downtown Orlando’s oldest building. (It doesn’t appear to sport the brilliant green paint job of current times, but that could be the sepia talking.) At the entrance of the exhibition is the 1926 sheet music for a song titled “Orlando, We’re All in Love With You!” It was written by Ed McConnell and published by the Orlando Chamber of Commerce. The exhibit’s copy was sold at the S. Ernest Philpitt & Son store, which sold “everything musical” from its business at 133 S. Orange Ave., in the block where the Plaza tower now stands. But today’s audiences can hear it thanks to a modern recording of it courtesy of Orlando Opera. Up at the Angebilt “Orlando Collected” has multiple references to The Angebilt Hotel, and it’s easy to see why. It was kind of a big deal, literally, when it went up in 1923, and it’s still standing today – though not a hotel – on the corner of Orange Avenue and Wall Street. Its very presence then and now helps orient modern daydreamers. In the exhibit, there are pamphlets referring to the business as “Central Florida’s most distinctive hotel.” A photo of other signs tout the Angebilt’s steam baths and solariums, and they note that Angebilt is both modern and fireproof. Another photo shows a sign just over the front door balcony that references a dining room on the 10th floor, “the height of hospitality.” Meanwhile the hotel offered (and history center is displaying) a wallet-sized cheat sheet for men. There are spaces to record facts about spouses, details such as birthday, dress size, stocking size and glove size. “If you want to impress your lady, remember to take her to the Angebilt often,” the card hints hard. “Our combination of fine food and superb service is calculated to win the feminine heart.” Receipts from the Sun-Glow Hotel marking the stays of B.B. King, the Staples Singers, Little Richard and the Harlem Globetrotters are part of 'Orlando Collected.' (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Hotels are a fixture in Orlando, and among the others in the history center spotlight is the former Sun-Glo Highway Hotel, which operated on South Orange Blossom Trail. In the exhibit are a set of room receipts, handwritten, and the slogan “Catering to the Elite Colored Clientele.” The receipts, dated 1959 and 1960, are written out to the Staples Singers, B.B. King, Little Richard and the Harlem Globetrotters (curiously, a party of two). These are in cursive – kids, ask your nana to translate – and include details like home address and make of car. School daze The section on education includes this copy block: “Although racial segregation in schools was declared unconstitutional in 1953, Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) did not begin desegregation efforts until 1969. Decades later, in 2010, OCPS achieved “Unitary Status,” signifying that the district had eliminated remnants of past discrimination and was no longer under federal court oversight.” On a less heavy note, there’s an orange and white felt beanie from 1940 and Orlando High School with a tiger, a football and the words “YEA TEAM.” Ronnie’s rules Displayed are hand-written instructions for the night shift at Ronnie’s Restaurant, an eatery on Colonial Drive that closed in 1995. If you knew Ronnie’s you know they had rules. Among the 10 directions are “put all items in big showcase from little showcase,” fill the syrups and unplug the blender and hot fudge machine. It was front-page news when Ronnie’s closed, and the headline referenced its “stern rules and generous portions.” Another display features the Little Saigon menu and chopsticks. A traffic sign that was in the Pulse nightclub parking lot was altered to read "Stop the hate." (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Sighs of the times Among the somber moments is a stop sign from the Pulse nightclub parking lot. It’s been altered with marker to read “Stop the hate.” Around the corner are the trademark sunglasses of – and a campaign button for – Billy Manes, an Orlando writer and one-time mayoral candidate, who died in 2017. Sunglasses owned by Orlando writer (and one-time mayoral candidate) Billy Manes are displayed in 'Orlando Collected.' (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Sporting goods The concept of displaying Shaquille O’Neal‘s shoe sound a big silly, but dang that’s a big ol’ sneaker. Big enough for his rookie-year Orlando Magic teammates to autograph. I could decipher Nick Anderson, Greg Kite and Coach Brian Hill. There’s also a glass block, a distinguishing architectural features of the original Orlando Arena (a k a O-rena), which was demolished in 2012. There are multiple items related to the now-demolished Tinker Field, including two seats, the 1963 dedication plaque and a large, very detailed topographical survey map from 1962. Nearby: A 1991 bat from one of Tinker’s minor league tenants, the Orlando Sun Rays. Shaquille O'Neal left big shoes to fill (and autograph). His rookie season sneaker is seen in 'Orlando Collected' at the Orange County Regional History Center. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Our attractions There are a few Gatorland shout-outs, including a 1980 souvenir wallet, pieces of its original gift shop floor and a chunk of the original gator mouth, which had been presented to Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty after “the great fire of 2006.” There’s an opening day staff photo for Universal Studios Florida, which includes Woody Woodpecker, Fiefel, Fred Flintstone and actors portraying Mae West, the Marx Brothers and a ghostbuster. Church Street Station gets a wall to itself, including a waitress uniform from Lili Marlene’s and a T-shirt for Church Street Station that shows the still-standing train station. You don’t see Walt Disney World in the “Orlando Collected” displays. Organizers used the guideline of having an Orlando address to narrow its selections. Mickey and friends still have a formidable presence on the fourth floor of the history center, dating back to the official announcement of the resort in the 1960s through the Figment popcorn bucket era. A stained-glass window, about 100 years old, is in the history center exhibition. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)Truly old Orlando, a youngish city comparatively speaking, isn’t known for old stuff. But these things passed muster for me: a Civil War era surgical tool kit, firefighter helmets from the 1880s and a stained-glass window from Ohev Shalom Temple (1925). The unexpected To name a few: A Gargoyle Award presented to Mary I. Johnson from the Terror on Church Street attraction; keys to the courthouse jail (1927), a 1959 time capsule from the courthouse annex, a faux tombstone presented to Mayor Carl Langford upon his retirement; a piece of desk signed by Dr. Jan Garavaglia (a k a Dr. G); and a fallout shelter sign from City Hall (capacity 450, circa 1958). There are dozens of other items that may intrigue, plus old photos that enhance the presentation. “Orlando Collected,” which is scheduled to remain in place at the history center through Jan. 11, is included with regular admission to the museum. 22. Disney World is busy, busy, busy right now! Let’s go to Disney World Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios are all getting in on the fun and growth of the Disney resort. It’s been a lot to keep up with, so we’re doing a weekly round-up of the biggest theme park news right here! Let’s dive in. Starting off with what we might be the most excited about, we finally got our first look at the finished refurbishment of Test Track! The ride officially reopens on June 22nd, 2025, but previews for Cast Members have already begun. New sign We got to hop on the attraction today, and we have SO much to say about it! The new queue removes the section where you get to build your own car, but it’s still pretty cool. The new queue There are 6 new show scenes that celebrate vehicles and who makes them. There’s also a new outdoor scene that focuses on the advancements in transportation. There’s a pine scent The ride also plays an instrumental version of “Fun to Be Free” from the original World of Motion after the narrator says the words “It’s Fun to Be Free.” The new show scenes depicting homes and home life have the same vibes as 1990s Innoventions! We’re getting Innoventions vibes The exterior of the ride didn’t change too much, and they also removed the interactive games at the ride’s exit queue. Still the fastest ride in Disney World! We are so excited for this new version of this ride to finally be ready to go! We’ve been missing the need for speed. See Even More of the NEW Test Track in EPCOT! Over in Magic Kingdom, we finally got the closing date for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! This Tomorrowland attraction is getting a big refurbishment and will be officially closing on August 4th, 2025. ©Disney The ride will be adding a new character, new show scene, updated targets, and refurbished ride vehicles. Disney has previously given us a preview of what to expect from the changes with Imagineers testing the new blasters. ©Disney The ride will reopen sometime in 2026, although Disney has yet to give an official reopening date. All of the Changes Confirmed for Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom Finally, we officially confirmed the location of the brand new Monsters, Inc. roller coaster in Hollywood Studios! The new land, which is replacing Muppet Courtyard, doesn’t have an opening timeline but new maps have confirmed the new land will be expanded to fit the roller coaster. ©Disney The new coaster is a suspension-style coaster will take you through the famous door scene from Monsters, Inc. featuring Mike, Sully, and Boo! The rollercoaster show building will be placed in the Cast Member parking lot located behind the land. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight District In the photo above, the roller coaster is the building closest to the bottom of the photo within the parking lot lines. You can also see just how large the building is expected to be once construction is complete. Muppets Courtyard just closed a few weeks ago and Disney hasn’t confirmed if ground has broken on the new construction. ©Disney There is no opening timeline for the new land or coaster at the time of writing. The new land will feature the rollercoaster as the main attraction along with a show, new dining, and, of course, shopping. We can’t wait for even more news on this area! 23. To put it plainly, it simply stinks when a really cool Disney souvenir is ruined by becoming too popular. Long souvenir line! The Disney fandom runs deep with MILLIONS of fans all over the world. As such, it should come as no surprise that Disney souvenirs are hot commodities — sometimes to their own detriment. Disney Adults certainly DON’T lack passion, but — sometimes — that means they can go a little too overboard when it comes to souvenirs. There are a few circumstances we can point to when Disney Adults can “ruin” popular souvenirs — like some instances with popcorn buckets. Death Star Bucket in Disneyland We’ve seen plenty of instances where folks show up at rope drop, buy a whole bunch, and limit sales for guests (and kids) who just really want a neat collectible. 2025 Figment Popcorn Bucket at Figment’s Inspiration Station Resale is a major problem, and this won’t be the last time it’s brought up. Then there’s the issue of opening day excitement and Disney Adults flocking to parks, creating long lines and taking a bulk of the supply. We honestly don’t blame Disney Adults for their souvenir enthusiasm, but it can create some headaches for everyone else. Scary Teddy! A very similar issue we’ve seen when it comes to the resale market is happening over in Anaheim with the Disneyland 70th Anniversary merch. Emporium When the merch dropped, the Resort (which has especially had problems with popcorn bucket collectors) saw many folks buy as much as they could, only to resell it at a higher markup. We even saw the Key to Disneyland sell out — but it’s now back, albeit with a tighter purchasing limit. Key to Disneyland Resale and popularity are also major issues with a souvenir you can get outside of the parks — Disney Lorcana sets. This game is so fun! Lorcana is a highly popular card game that can sell out online quickly. Single-Player Decks Ultimately, a lot of adults buy these up quickly, which can take away inventory from fans AND KIDS who would appreciate these souvenirs way more. Here’s a peek at the cards! Speaking of having online issues, we’ve seen Disney x Starbucks Tumblers sell out within minutes. ©Disney These Starbucks collabs are super popular among pretty much everyone, so we get them selling out fast. It’s just a bummer because you can wait for a product drop, and still miss out because they fly off the shelves so fast! ©Disney Back in the parks, buying specialty pins can just be the worst. These limited-edition pins are also in limited supply, meaning lines can get ridiculously long. New pins! These lines form early, and even if you line up and wait, we’ve seen pins sell out before 10 AM. So you could end up waiting an hour plus and still leave with nothing. There’s not a ton of transparency about how many pins are available each day, and Disney drops these pins without a ton of warning, and with no way to streamline purchasing, you’re really placing your fate in chance. Long queue We see this kind of stuff all the time, and there is no obvious fix. Cool Disney souvenirs will always be popular, and we totally get it. If you’ve missed out on these items, DON’T FRET! Disney is always coming out with the next best thing, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted when those items drop. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone?
