We finally have good news about construction at Disney World — one construction project has officially been completed. Port Orleans — French Quarter Over at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter, the lobby was going under refurbishment, and we’re loving the new updates. Look at these fun new rugs! We love the bright details of the feathers on the mask, which really give the whole space a greater New Orleans feel. New rugs and furniture The furniture is also new and looks so comfy to sit on. This resort has numerous great spaces to sit, so we don’t always find ourselves in the lobby, but it’s nice while waiting to check in or for a rideshare vehicle to arrive. Another look Of course, we love hanging out and watching cartoons with the kiddos, too. We love the TVs in resort lobbies, and we could probably be entertained for hours. Watching TV Here’s another seating area with tables in the middle as well. If you’re family is staying in separate rooms, this can be a great meet-up spot in the morning before heading to the buses. The entire lobby feels brighter, and while the refurbishment wasn’t extensive, it’s small updates like these that elevate our resort experience to the next level. Table and chairs We’re mostly glad to see the construction curtains down. As true Disney Adults, we get so excited anytime we see walls come down. No more curtain! If it seems like almost everything is under construction in Disney World…well, it sorta’ is! Magic Kingdom is getting an expansion in Frontierland, a brand new Villains land, and several upgraded rides. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting a new attraction in the Tree of Life and a brand new land. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a revamped area PLUS a brand new land. Beach Club Resort Disney World hotels are also getting a lot of updates. Both Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Pop Century Resort are getting new lobbies. Disney’s Beach Club Resort is getting some routine exterior maintenance through 2027. That hotel’s port cochere is currently closed, too, and it looks like it won’t reopen as early as originally thought. When Disney first announced the construction, the porte cochere was supposed to reopen in September. Now that September has come and gone, that has changed. When we spoke with a Cast Member at Disney’s Beach Club recently, we were told that the construction should be completed in several weeks, which would be mid-October. However, the Disney World website had changed the timeline for the opening of the porte cochere and pushed it back to November, suggesting the construction has been delayed. ©Disney This means that if you’re staying at Disney’s Beach Club, you may hear construction noise during the day, as well as see construction. The porte cochere will also remain closed for at least another month. Currently, there are construction walls around Beach Club’s main entrance. The main entrance is closed Note that you should see signage around the resort when things are blocked for construction. So keep an eye out for those if you’re visiting Beach Club anytime soon. As always, we’ll keep an eye on the construction and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. One of our favorite Disneyland Resort restaurants is undergoing a lengthy refurbishment, and Disney just gave us some really big upgrades! Napa Rose Napa Rose is a premium dining experience at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and is one of the most upscale restaurants you can visit during a Disneyland trip. However, guests wanting to visit this famous spot have been out of luck the past five months, as it’s been closed for a lengthy refurbishment. Closed since April 2025, Napa Rose operates differently from most Disneyland restaurants. This fine-dining experience enforces a strict formal dress code and an elegant feel offered only at a handful of other restaurants on the Disneyland Resort property. The restaurant is currently closed Located in the Grand Californian hotel, Napa Rose offers a bit of exclusivity away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks while featuring savory California-inspired cuisine from Chef Andrew Sutton and exquisite wines selected by sommelier Patrick Kirchen. With that said, the restaurant is about to change thanks to some upgrades being installed during the refurbishment. ©Disney The long refurbishment will yield “an elevated dining experience, blending timeless Craftsman design with a fresh take on modern Californian sophistication and warmth, and immersing guests in a way only Disney can do.” Disney has also teased designs honoring Craftsman architecture with theming that nods “toward modern Californian luxury and approachability.” Additionally, in an homage to its Wine Country roots, Napa Rose will offer an outdoor patio with two fireplaces, lush greenery, and soft lighting that give off upscale California winery vibes. ©Disney However, the change that we’re perhaps most excited for is the debut of a brand-new menu. Napa Rose Chef Andrew Sutton Initially expected to reopen in Fall 2025, Napa Rose is now slated to open in early 2026. While the restaurant is unavailable, the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures character dining experience that’s usually held at Napa Rose is being hosted at the Trillium Room in the Grand Californian. Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2024 and later filed for bankruptcy a second time. ©Spirit Airlines As a result, the company has undergone numerous changes and restructuring, including the elimination of routes from several cities — and it’s happening soon. Here’s what you need to know. Florida-based Spirit Airlines previously confirmed that it would be cutting routes to and from 12 cities throughout the United States. These changes begin on October 2nd, so make sure you make other travel plans if you typically fly Spirit to any of these cities. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport The 12 cities that will be impacted are: Albuquerque, NM Birmingham, AL Boise, ID Chattanooga, TN Oakland, CA Columbia, SC Portland, OR Sacramento, CA Salt Lake City, UT San Diego, CA San Jose, CA ©Spirit Airlines The company also confirmed it would cancel plans to launch service in Macon, GA, which was set to start on October 16th. In an email statement, the company wrote: “We apologize to our Guests for any inconvenience this may cause and will reach out to those with affected reservations to notify them of their options, including a refund.” Spirit Airlines Spirit is trying to cut costs by eliminating the routes that don’t bring in the most money. Recently, the company claimed it had “substantial doubt” about staying in business, citing less demand for leisure travel as well as “adverse market conditions.” United Airlines and Frontier Airlines have recently scooped up some of the routes that Spirit is dropping. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World is a Star Wars fan’s dream vacation. You get to dive into the galaxy and become immersed in the stories through shopping, dining, and rides. Rise of the Resistance One of the rides in this land is Rise of the Resistance. It’s quite possibly the BEST ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s a trackless ride, which keeps you guessing on where you’re going next, and it’s jam-packed with action from beginning to end, including your time in the queue. But if you want to make it even BETTER, we recommend doing this one thing! HEADS UP: Rise of the Resistance spoilers ahead! Turn back now if you don’t want to ruin the surprise. Get the Best Seat There truly are two different experiences on this ride completely based on the ride vehicle you end up in — the front or back vehicle. Trust us: you want to be the one in the front vehicle. The front vehicle will give you the BEST ride-through experience. You can’t resist To better your chances at getting the front vehicle, you’ll need to be VERY brave. First, take a deep breath and build up your courage. Then, confront one of the evil First Order troops as you’re being placed into an interrogation room, and request the ride vehicle with the red and blue rows. This will get you into the front vehicle, and you’ll have an even more exciting ride. Rise of the Resistance vehicles The front vehicle will have a front-row experience for the entire ride. You’ll come face-to-face with the FIRST animatronic of the ride — the Probe Droid — while the back vehicle passes by it after the droid is lowered. Then, in the AT-AT room, the front car goes head-to-head with two stormtroopers inside the head of the AT-AT with a red digital haze. Rise of the Resistance The back car, however, looks at the side of the AT-AT instead of straight on and has a different experience all around in this room. Finally, the front car is WAY better because of the Kylo Ren experiences throughout the ride. Rise of the Resistance You’ll meet Kylo Ren twice in the ride, and during both encounters, the front car looks him right in the eye every time he talks. He gestures and turns in different directions, but he only speaks DIRECTLY to the front-car riders. (Talk about menacing!) Rise of the Resistance Don’t get us wrong, this experience is totally amazing regardless of which vehicle you end up in; it’s just BETTER in the blue and red car since the back car is following behind. For Even More Details About Why the Front Car Is Better, Click Here! Now that you know that fun little secret, here are two other helpful tips for riding Rise of the Resistance in Disney World! The Posted Wait Time Is Kinda Misleading Rise of the Resistance is so great because of the detail Disney put into it. While the ride officially begins when you get in the vehicles in the interrogation chamber, it FEELS like it begins long before that. Rise of the Resistance This is a truly immersive experience, and that begins in the queue. As soon as you board the very first ship (technically part of the queue), shortly after joining the queue, you no longer feel like you’re just waiting to board a ride. You are part of the ride. So while the posted wait time might say one thing, it really feels like it’s at least 20 minutes shorter. That’s because the wait time is posted to the point of you boarding your ride vehicle, but it feels like you’re already on the ride 20 minutes before then. Boarding the first ship As you go through the queue, you’ll be too busy joining the Resistance, getting captured by the First Order, and being interrogated to even realize you’ve just been waiting in the line the whole time. Buying the Lightning Lane Single Pass Might Not Be Worth It This ride costs extra if you wish to skip it using the Lightning Lane queue. It’s a Lightning Lane Single Pass and not part of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. However, it might not be worth purchasing the Single Pass for it. Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane The line for this ride can definitely get long, but you may also notice several times throughout the day when it’s 60 minutes or less, and if you take off the 20 minutes from the point above, it’s truly not too terrible of a wait. Depending on your priorities (and if you’re a bit of a risk taker), purchasing a Single Pass for Rise of the Resistance might not be worth it. Rise of the Resistance We hope these tips help you have a great experience on the best ride in Hollywood Studios! In the meantime, keep following DFB for more Disney news. 3 Disney’s Hollywood Studios Rides We’re Getting Worried About Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! We’ve got a warning if you’re trying to make Advance Dining Reservations for Disney World right now! Heads up if you’re making dining reservations! The Disney World Advance Dining Reservation system is how table service reservations are made ahead of your trip — and this morning, the system went down. Here’s what you need to know. Heads up if you were trying to make Advance Dining Reservations on the Disney World website, on the phone, or on the My Disney Experience app on the morning of October 1st — the system was experiencing an outage, and reservations were not able to be made. The Boathouse We first spotted a pop-up message on the My Disney Experience app that said, “Pardon the Inconvenience: At this time, we are unable to make or modify dining reservations online or over the phone. We apologize for any inconvenience.” ©Disney The Disney World website also had a warning, advising of the system issues. It read, “Some of our digital experiences are undergoing maintenance and may currently be unavailable. Dine Reservations, Resort bookings and Enchanting Extra Collection bookings may be affected. We apologize for any inconvenience.” ©Disney So, it sounds like it wasn’t just a dining reservation outage, but one that potentially impacted hotel reservations as well. While the system appears to be working again — we successfully made a dining reservation via the website this morning — this serves as an important reminder that things might not go as smoothly as you had hoped when making your dining or hotel reservations. Our entire brunch meal at Summer House on the Lake Typically, we don’t see the hotel reservation system go down often, but this certainly isn’t the first time the dining reservation system has given people headaches when trying to book table service restaurants for their trips. Just remember to be patient and that things will likely be resolved soon — Disney wants you to make those reservations because it means more money for them, so it’s in their best interest to fix the problem quickly! Full spread at STK We’ll be on the lookout for more updates you need to know about with the Disney World Advance Dining Reservation system. If you are heading to Disney World soon, we want to make sure you are prepared for the closures! There are currently three closures happening at Disney World hotel pools, and we don’t want you to be caught by surprise. Turtle Shack Pool at Old Key West It is hard to beat a relaxing day by the pool, so you need to know about these pool closures. The good news is that every hotel with a pool closure has other pools that are open, so you won’t be left without a pool to relax by! Leisure Pool at Miller’s Road — Disney’s Old Key West Resort If you are staying at Old Key West soon, you will want to take note of this closure! From September 29th through late November, the leisure pool at Miller’s Road will be closed for routine maintenance. Disney’s Old Key West Good news, though. The Sandcastle Pool and both leisure pools at Old Turtle Pond and South Point will still be open. So, there will be plenty of options for having some poolside fun! Fantasia Kiddie Pool — Disney’s All-Star Movies The Fantasia kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort has been closed for maintenance since September 8th. The pool is expected to be closed through late October, but Disney hasn’t announced a specific reopening date yet. Disney’s All-Star Movies While the Fantasia kiddie pool is closed, the Fantasia Feature Pool and Duck Pond Pool will remain open, and guests staying at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort are welcome to use the kiddie pools at Disney’s All-Star Music and Disney’s All-Star Sports. The Samawati Springs Pool Slide — Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Starting on September 8th, the Samawati Springs Pool Slide will be closing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village for routine maintenance. Disney hasn’t announced a date for when the slide will reopen. Samawati Springs Pool If you’re staying at the resort, there will still be another water slide option for you to enjoy at the Uzima Springs Pool! ONLY the slide at The Samawati Springs Pool will be closed; you can still use the pool, just not the slide. You just may see or hear construction at work. Let’s take a look at the other attractions and locations that will be closed this week, from October 4th through October 11th, at Disney World. EPCOT Spaceship Earth Spaceship Earth has been closed for routine refurbishment since August 25th, 2025. While it will only be a temporary closure as the attraction is expected to reopen later this year, it will still be a few months or so without Spaceship Earth. Spaceship Earth We aren’t expecting any major changes to the attraction, just general maintenance and routine work. During this time, the Project Tomorrow: Inventing the Wonders of the Future exhibit will be closed, as well. It is definitely going to be sad experiencing the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival without being able to ride Spaceship Earth, though. The Unspoken Rule You Should Follow at the Italy Pavilion in EPCOT Magic Kingdom Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin A popular Tomorrowland attraction is closed! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has closed for refurbishment as of August 4th, 2025, and isn’t expected to reopen until 2026. While the ride is closed, it will be getting some upgrades! It’s closed! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be getting a new ride scene, new ride vehicles, a new character, and enhanced gameplay elements. Some of those gameplay elements include handheld blasters (soon you can shoot whenever you want!) and reactive targets. We recently got the chance to take a look at the new ride vehicle and test out the new blasters, and we have to say we were impressed! Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island, are closed for good to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak National Park. There are some construction walls up in the area now, and we have seen workers on Tom Sawyer Island. The river has also started to be drained! Rivers of America Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of Magic Kingdom, and construction is expected to begin in the area this year. Disney has not yet released an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know that it will feature two brand-new attractions and will be themed to look like a National Park. The ONE Thing Every Disney Mom Packs for Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Recently, Disney announced some of the new magic! Riders will see “spectacular natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites (the ones on the floor) and stalactites (the ones on the ceiling)” — the Rainbow Caverns! We can’t wait to see what other changes might be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! We have spotted some ride testing happening, which was very exciting, and a train car has arrived! It was still covered in a tarp, but it was exciting to see. Tortuga Tavern Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we saw it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! How To Avoid Booking “Junk” Lightning Lanes in Magic Kingdom Disney’s Animal Kingdom Kali River Rapids Kali River Rapids is about to close for refurbishment! This water adventure will be temporarily closing beginning October 6th, and it is expected to reopen in December 2025. We aren’t expecting any huge changes to the ride, just some maintenance and general refurbishment. Kali River Rapids We commonly see Kali River Rapids close during the cooler months for refurbishment. Splashing through a water ride just isn’t the same when it is cooler outside, so we can see why Disney chose the fall or winter months to do some maintenance on this attraction. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, Fossil Fun Games, and The Boneyard The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The Boneyard will be permanently closed on September 2nd. Pueblo Esperanza Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and the snack stands are still open, but Disney recently announced the rest of DinoLand, U.S.A. will be closing for good on February 2nd, 2026. It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom once invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. While the show didn’t usually make it to the top of favorite attractions in Disney World, it has now closed to make way for a new show. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Construction Walls It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed on March 17th to make way for a brand-new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, expected to debut on November 7th, 2025. The show begins when you arrive at the main stage just in time for Zoogether Day festivities, where you’ll spot some new and familiar faces, including Heidi Howler, a wolf who hosts the Zoogether Day LIVE! broadcast. These Disney Adult Animal Kingdom Hacks Are Getting Out of Control Disney’s Hollywood Studios Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. This new area is expected to open in 2026 and will be a special nod to the Walt Disney Studios lot. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters. Construction Walls in Animation Courtyard This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area and the current Disney Jr. Play and Dance! show will be getting a makeover. During the transformation, you will still be able to visit “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and Walt Disney Presents. Muppets Courtyard, including Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Muppet*Vision 3D AND PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off so construction can begin on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th. The Muppet*Vision sign has been covered! Don’t worry, the Muppets won’t be missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever. The Muppets will eventually be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026. A Popular Hollywood Studios Experience Is Changing on October 12th Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach has been closed since September 8th, 2025! While it has been wonderful having BOTH Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon open at the same time this summer (which was the first time this has happened in YEARS), that has now come to an end. Blizzard Beach is now closed for refurbishment. Blizzard Beach Have no fear, though, if you are looking for somewhere to cool off and enjoy some fun in the water, Typhoon Lagoon will still be open! REVIEWS: What to Eat (And What to AVOID) at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf If you are planning on playing some miniature golf during your Disney World trip, you have some options. You can head over to Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Gold or Winter Summerland Miniature. However, if you are headed over to Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf, one of the courses will be closed for refurbishment. Fantasia Mini Golf Course From September 9th to November 7th, 2025, the Fantasia Fairways Miniature Golf course will be undergoing refurbishment. While it is closed, the Fantasia Gardens course will remain open, but guests won’t be able to reserve tee times (guests will tee off on a first-come, first-served basis). That still leaves you three courses to explore between the one at Fantasia Gardens & Fairways and the two courses at Winter Summerland! Disney World Hotels Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls However, this isn’t the end for Jellyrolls, as the bar has said they are “making a move.” We don’t know many details about that move yet, but we will keep you updated. It’s no secret that Walt Disney World vacations are expensive. From tickets and accommodations to travel and dining expenses, it can be tempting to try to save as much as possible to make the whole experience more cost-effective. However, some perks might be worth the splurge. Cinderella Castle There’s booking at a Deluxe Resort to take advantage of Extended Evening Hours, where on select nights each week, one of the parks stays open two hours past park close, or staying at a Value Resort like Art of Animation Resort or Pop Century Resort, the difference between a standard and preferred room is around a $25 up-charge, depending on the time of year. Then there’s the $185 Memory Maker package, a dream addition for those who want a large collection of professional photos documenting their trip, with a dash of Disney magic and pixie dust thrown in. During your vacation to Disney World, you will make so many memories that you will want to last a lifetime. One of the best ways to remember all the fun you had on your trip is by taking pictures! Disney offers a package for you and your entire party to get all the pictures that you take with PhotoPass photographers across the resort, and it only costs $185! PhotoPass Now, we are not saying $185 is nothing; every penny counts when budgeting for a trip to Disney World, but you can purchase Memory Maker, which is Disney’s all-inclusive photo package that lets you download all of the photos and videos taken of you and your family and friends during your vacation. PhotoPass There are three Memory Maker options. The first is for $185, which is the one we recommend. This package must be purchased at least three days prior to your trip. It includes all PhotoPass photos and videos within 30 days of your selected date. PhotoPass A List Of EVERY Disney PhotoPass Lens If you forget to purchase Memory Maker in advance, no worries! It can still be purchased at the resort for $210, but buying it in advance will save you $25. PhotoPass Cast Member If you are not visiting Disney World for a longer trip, there is also a Memory Maker One Day option for $75. This version allows you to download all the photos and videos on one selected day of your trip. PhotoPass Memory Maker includes locations across all four theme parks, photos from over 40 character meet and greets, 15 attraction photo opportunities, and over 100 Disney Magic Shots, including photo effects, 360-degree capture cameras, and cameras at a bird’s-eye view! Plus, anyone linked to your family and friends list on your My Disney Experience app is able to take photos, up to 25 people, even though Memory Maker only needs to be purchased by one member of your party! PhotoPass Cast Members Once your vacation is over, you have 45 days to download all of your photos, giving you plenty of time! PhotoPass photographer Now, we do need to note one thing about Memory Maker: If you’re only interest is in on-ride photos, Memory Maker may not be necessary for you. Why? On-ride photos are included with the purchase of a Lightning Lane Multi Pass. ©Disney Memory Maker is a great way to ensure you remember your trip with your friends and family, and it only costs $185 for unlimited photos! We really like having Memory Maker because it forces us to slow down and take photos with our loved ones. And we don’t have to worry about pulling out our phones or worry about having someone in the group take the photo, so group photos are actually of the entire group. This memory maker also includes magic shot photos, which really just adds to the fun! Remember this tip, and make sure to purchase Memory Maker at least three days in advance! If you didn’t know, we are headed towards a government shutdown. Magic Kingdom As of September 30th, 2025, a partial government shutdown seems imminent, according to ABC News and other outlets. While this isn’t the first shutdown to occur (the most recent was in December 2018 until January 2019), this could impact several sectors of the country and maybe even your trip to Disney World. We’re breaking down what you can expect right here! A partial government shutdown is expected to begin on October 1st, 2025. The shutdown is due to a gridlock over federal funding, and it seems like lawmakers aren’t going to come to an agreement before the current budget expires on September 30th. While it might not be clear how it will impact you directly, we know it will impact the country’s travel. Southwest Airplanes According to USA Today, the U.S. Travel Association estimates a $1 billion dollar loss every week. During the shutdown, federal agencies and services that aren’t considered to be “essential” by the government will need to pause working. That includes workers like national park employees. TSA officers are considered essential and will continue working. TSA lines at MCO Regarding past shutdowns, Eric Hansen, senior vice president of government relations at the U.S. Travel Association, said, “Airports slow down and our economy slows down with it.” While it might not shut down the airport, it will inconvenience your travel plans in other ways. Employees who screen at airport checkpoints, give flight clearance, and verify border control are deemed essential, so they will still be required to work, but a shutdown will impact federal funding for agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration, the Transportation Security Administration, and Customs and Border Protection. This loss of funding will pause hiring and training, and it will prevent workers from being paid until this shutdown is over. Orlando International Airport This is where the shutdown will impact you directly, thanks to longer lines and wait times at the airport. A TSA Spokesperson confirmed their personnel are trained to handle high volumes of travelers, but to be prepared for those long wait times. In 2019, F However, you may encounter longer lines and wait times, so plan accordingly. “While our personnel have prepared to handle high volumes of travelers and ensure the security of our transportation systems, an extended shutdown could mean longer wait times at airports,” a TSA spokesperson told USA TODAY in December when a previous shutdown loomed. During the last shutdown in 2019, FAA controllers and TSA agents stopped showing up for work due to their lack of payment, causing flight delays and long lines. Hansen stated, “History also shows that when workers, whether it’s air traffic controllers or Transportation Security officers, have to continually show up for work without pay, it adds additional stress.” Airplane The best way to handle these changes is to stay informed about your flight and the airport you’re going to. MCO, for example, shows its airport security times on its website. On September 29th, a group that represents major U.S. airlines shared that the shutdown might strain and slow down air travel. Airlines for America, which represents United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and other airlines, warned that if the shutdown occurs and funding pauses, “the system may need to slow down, reducing efficiency.” Be sure to keep following DFB for more news and updates. When it comes to surviving Disney World, we know a thing or two What do you REALLY need? Our team has been going to the parks for decades, and we have tested hundreds, if not thousands, of products to make each park day a little easier! Now, we’ve narrowed it down to 5 things that you need to bring to the parks to make each day easier and more magical. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. There are lots of things that are considered “Disney essentials,” like ears, accessories, and more! While we do love them, we can survive without them even on our toughest park days. No, the true Disney necessities are the ones that will save you in a pinch thanks to dead phones, weather, and more! FuelRods FuelRods Portable chargers have become a true necessity in Disney World, especially if you’re trying to maximize your experience. Our phones have truly become the key to the world in the parks thanks to the My Disney Experience App. You can check wait times, pay to skip long lines, order your food ahead of time, and even check out while shopping through the app, which is so nice! It can also drain your battery quicker than you can get through the Space Mountain line, so portable chargers are a necessity. We have plenty of favorites, but Fuel Rods are elite because once they die, you can exchange them for a fresh and fully charged power bank in the parks and airports. You never have to worry about your phone or charger dying again! View on Amazon Frogg Togg Ponchos FROGG TOGG Poncho One of the most difficult things about Disney World is the weather! While it can be unpredictable at times, it’s a safe bet to assume it’s going to rain at some point during your trip, especially during hurricane season, which lasts from June to November. Dealing with rain can be a damper on the day, but if you’ve got a Frogg Togg, you can keep heading from one ride to the next! It doesn’t stick to you like cling wrap, and it comes with a carrying case that lets you store it easily without getting your things wet. It’s inexpensive and reliable. That’s why it’s a must for us, every single time! View on Amazon JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan Again with that darn weather! If it’s not raining in Disney World, it’s another safe bet to assume it will be hot! Luckily, we can combat that easily thanks to this mini fan. We’ve tested several fans, but the JISULIFE version has proved reliable every single time. It fits easily in our park bags, folds up so it’s as small as possible, and recharges quickly and easily. It has 19 hours of cooling time, and it even serves as a backup power bank as needed. View on Amazon Flat Plug Power Strip Flat Plug Power Strip IF you haven’t noticed, there are a lot of things to charge now during your vacation. Your phone, fans, portable chargers, watches, tablets, and MagicBands all need charging, just to name a few. While Disney has started adding more outlets and USB ports in the hotel rooms, if you have several people in one room, it might present a challenge of how to get everything plugged in. That’s where this power strip comes in! It makes prepping for the parks easier and is another item that you can use at home every day, making the purchase even more “worth it” in our eyes. View on Amazon Best Park Bags Loungefly bags in EPCOT What good are these necessities if you have nothing to carry them in? The wrong park bag can make your day more difficult. The same bag won’t be perfect for everyone! The size of your bag will depend on what you need to bring. We love a good crossbody for shorter trips, a Loungefly if you’re traveling lighter, and a solid backpack if you’re carrying essentials for the entire family. Not sure what’s right for you? You can see all of our favorites right here! See Our Best Park Bags There are so many things that can make your Disney trip easier and better, but these 5 things will make sure you’re doing the parks right every time! A store has officially reopened in Disney Springs! While this store wasn’t closed for long (only about two weeks), we are happy to see that it has reopened. Rothy’s is open again! Rothy’s at Disney Springs closed for a very brief refurbishment earlier this month, and as of September 26th it is back to business as normal. The store has been at Disney Springs for almost two years– it opened back in November 2023. Rothy’s focuses on sustainable and washable shoes and handbags. We stopped by to check out the store after its short refurbishment, and while there aren’t any super dramatic differences, we did notice some new details in the store! One of the main details we noticed was the added pop of blue throughout the store. We love the pop of blue! Prior to the refurbishment, the store primarily featured creams and wooden elements. The creams and woods are still there, but now they are mixed in with some blue! Rothy’s is a bit more colorful! We also noticed a new display in the back of the store, along with some more pops of blue at the check-out counter. It also looks like the green curtains that were hanging at the back of the store have now been removed. Refurbished Rothy’s We have quite a few team members who love bringing their Rothy’s shoes to Disney World for occasions that require being a bit more dressed up! They are also comfortable enough to walk in — although we wouldn’t recommend wearing them ALL day at the parks. They are also easy to pack and you can wash them, which can be a lifesaver. If you are curious what the store looked like before the refurbishment, here is a quick peek at the store before: A look inside Rothy’s before There are lots and lots of shopping options at Disney Springs, and we are glad to see that Rothy’s is open once again. Believe it or not, it IS possible to get tired of Disney World food when you’re on your vacation. We know, it doesn’t seem possible, but we’ve BEEN there, and when it happens, it’s usually pretty intense. ©Chipotle That’s when we look to restaurants outside the Disney bubble to expand our horizons a bit, which is made easier if you have your own car on vacation, or are willing to use a service like Uber Eats or DoorDash. If you’re a big Chipotle fan, like we are, and also enjoy trying new menu offerings, there’s a new sauce available for a short time that you won’t want to miss! Chipotle’s new Red Chimichurri sauce just debuted today, September 30th, in the United States and Canadian markets. This is a tangy, delicious sauce curated to pair with Chipotle’s Carne Asada, but it can be used with any Chipotle menu item. You get it on the side of your meal and can add as much, or as little, as you’d like to your burrito, quesadilla, bowl, etc. ©Chipotle The best part is that for today only, Chipotle Rewards members can try this new sauce for FREE! What was the idea behind creating this interesting sauce, you ask? Well, apparently 92% of Gen Z consumers say they would visit a restaurant just for a sauce, and after the success of Adobo Ranch years ago, Chipotle decided it was time to develop and release a new sauce — their first one in five years! ©Chipotle Red Chimichurri is made with roasted garlic, fresh cilantro, chili peppers, and citrus juice and features no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. While it’s a great addition to try with any entree, the top recommendations by Nevielle Panthaky, Vice President of Culinary, are the Carne Asada Burrito, Chicken Bowl, and Sofritas Bowl. Want to check out the company’s promo video? Check it out below! There’s no official date right now as to when this new sauce will no longer be available, but if you’re interested in trying it, we recommend heading over there sooner rather than later so you don’t miss your chance.
