We’ve been waiting for this day to come, and now it’s finally here! Disney previously announced that the Fairy Godmother would be coming to Magic Kingdom as part of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience, and she’s been spotted out and about in Fantasyland preparing for her new role. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle Now, we’ve got the full scoop on how you can meet the one and only Fairy Godmother at Magic Kingdom, so let’s bibbidi-bobbidi-break it down. The Fairy Godmother has officially floated into Magic Kingdom! Disney previously announced that she would be coming to Disney World and Disneyland as a meet and greet at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but now, she is officially meeting little princesses and princes as part of the experience. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Magic Kingdom After she roams around the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique salon, she heads over to an area inside Sir Mickey’s, where she’s available to interact and take photos with. Sir Mickey’s The Fairy Godmother was seen roaming around Fantasyland near Cinderella Castle earlier last week. When we spoke with Cast Members about her, they told us that she is usually seen in the morning and later in the afternoon, but that she does not have a set schedule, and it was relatively random. Her meet and greet is still in the testing phase, and Cast Members advised us that it’s unclear whether she will still make “surprise and delight” appearances around Fantasyland once her meet and greet officially opens. The Fairy Godmother is now at Magic Kingdom Cast Members couldn’t confirm when her meet and greet would be official other than to say it should be starting “soon,” but said that it could take up to a week after it begins for it to show up on the My Disney Experience app, so we’ll be sure to let you know once she’s available to meet inside Sir Mickey’s. She’ll be meeting behind this curtain inside Sir Mickey’s! We’ll be on the lookout for more updates from Magic Kingdom and beyond. We’ve seen a lot this year, from ride closures to reopenings to hotel refurbishments, plenty of new snacks and merchandise, and just about everything in between. 2025 2as great, but we’re getting ready to plan our 2026 trips soon! Magic Kingdom For next year’s trip, there are some key dates you’ll want to know before booking your vacation. EPCOT Festivals We don’t know the exact dates of the festivals coming up next year, but we have an idea of when they’re scheduled based on the 2025 dates. While you’ll want to make sure you attend the festival, be cautious about opening dates when EPCOT can get busy, and on the other hand, times between festivals are usually pretty empty. 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts The 2025 dates were: EPCOT Festival of the Arts — January 17th to February 24th EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival — March 5th to June 2nd EPCOT Food & Wine Festival — August 28th to November 22nd EPCOT Festival of the Holidays — November 28th to December 30th Welcome to Food & Wine! runDisney If you’re not familiar with runDisney, these are large races where thousands of people come to run across Disney World property. While the races usually finish before the parks open, traffic patterns can change due to road closures, and there will be significantly more people than usual. You might find it harder to find hotel bookings since the race dates are posted about nine months in advance of the races. When it’s checkout day, you’d better be prepared to leave your Disney World hotel ON TIME. A room at the Polynesian The last day of your Disney World vacation can be a whirlwind of catching up on sleep, locating all your belongings strewn across your hotel room, frantically packing your suitcase, and trying to get out of the room by the dreaded 11AM deadline. But if you’re the kind to try and use every last second of that checkout morning, you might encounter a problem in Disney World. They May Knock on Your Door Early We’ve been staying in Disney World hotels for DECADES, and one problem that we’ve begun to encounter with increasing frequency in recent years is that housekeeping Cast Members will come by your room and knock on your door early on checkout day. We’re not talking about 10:50AM here, folks. Some of our team have had their doors knocked on as early as 8:30AM! Wilderness Lodge And if you were planning to sleep in on the last day of your trip, that could be a big bummer. One of our team members said that the early morning knocking woke up her kids when they’d all been hoping to have a relaxing morning. Port Orleans — French Quarter Even if you manage to rest through the first knock, we’ve often had experiences (and so have our readers) where housekeeping keeps returning to knock throughout the morning. It can be rather frustrating and make you feel rushed on the last day of your vacation. What You Need to Know About Housekeeping at Disney World Hotels But the Good News Is… This may seem troublesome, but we do have some good news for you. Checking out of your Disney World hotel is SO easy. You can use the My Disney Experience app to check out as you’re leaving — simply go to My Reservations or your Hotel Account to start the process. And even if you forget, you’ll be automatically checked out from the hotel at 11AM. Bay Lake Tower And if you’re heading to the parks or Disney Springs (or wherever else in the area), you can drop your bags off at the hotel’s bell services desk when you check out. They’ll hold your luggage for the entire day if need be, so you can enjoy Disney World until it’s time to leave. Luggage Services queue at All-Star Movies Make sure you’re efficient with your time on the morning of checkout — they’re turning over those rooms at a rapid pace! It’s often said that good things come in small packages, and that’s especially true today, as we are excited to share that a new miniature of Rapunzel’s Tower from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Tangled is coming to Storybook Land Canal Boats at Disneyland park. Debuting during the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, this addition joins the picturesque realm of miniature homes, villages, and castles from favorite fairytales in this classic Disneyland ride. You’ll find Rapunzel’s Tower between the Patchwork Quilt and Toad Hall when the attraction reopens this winter. Tangled Joins Storybook Land Canal Boats This Winter As shown in newly released concept art, the slender tower is marked by a shingled turret and several windows high above the ground. A meticulously cared for selection of flora completes the scene, creating a lush green oasis among the boulders surrounding Rapunzel’s home. Beyond the tower, multiple wanted posters seeking Flynn Rider dot the stone wall, and even in miniature, they still couldn’t get Flynn’s nose right. In fact, each poster has a different depiction of Flynn’s most difficult-to-capture feature. A secluded dock with a boat inspired by the one from the film will sit at the edge of the water further down the canal. The dock is framed by a trail of twinkling lights winding up a trellis on the bridge, where the Casey Jr. Circus Train rumbles along. As you float by this scene during the day, you’ll hear a charming arrangement of “When Will My Life Begin?” escaping from Rapunzel’s Tower, recalling afternoons of puzzles, darts and baking. Once dusk falls, “I See the Light” will play as you drift along the canal and watch the winking lights, reminiscent of the lanterns Rapunzel and Flynn Rider gazed at from their boat in the film. As the local villagers of Fantasyland like to say, “Huzzah!” to this new “mini magic” on a fan-favorite attraction! An Attraction with History Going Back to Walt Disney Storybook Land Canal Boats is rooted in history going all the way back to Walt Disney himself, so there’s no better time to honor this attraction than during our 70th anniversary celebration. Walt long had a fascination with miniatures, which he collected for many years. His love of these petite creations was an inspiration for the creation of the attraction that would become the Storybook Land Canal Boats. On the opening day of Disneyland 70 years ago in 1955, Canal Boats of the World debuted as a serene boat ride. The attraction underwent a transformation months later to bring beloved, small-scale fairytales to life along the banks. The attraction reopened as Storybook Land Canal Boats in June 1956, inviting guests to tour a tiny wonderland of fantastical realms. Residences from some favorite stories were painstakingly recreated at 1:12 scale and surrounded by impressive works of horticulture. Today, tours through the peaceful waters are narrated by expert cast member guides who point out landmarks from some favorite Disney stories, like the castle from Cinderella perched high on the hill and the humble workshop where Geppetto carves his wooden masterpieces. Over the years, the attraction has evolved to introduce iconic scenes and sounds from Disney Animation stories such as Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Frozen. With impressively handcrafted miniatures and beloved stories, it’s no surprise this ride has enchanted visitors for decades. Fun Facts About Storybook Land Canal Boats Storybook Land Canal Boats is one of the most highly detailed attractions in Disneyland. It’s not uncommon to discover a new detail on each voyage. Here are some fun facts and hidden details to look out for the next time you set sail. A Hand-Planted Welcome As you pass through Fantasyland, you’ll notice one of the more unique attraction marquees at Disneyland Resort. Residing on a raised bank, “Storybook Land” is spelled in giant, living letters created by colorful plants. This is an example of the French landscape technique called “parterre,” which is the art of creating distinct designs with plants. A Piece of Disneyland History The red and white striped lighthouse just outside the queue used to be a ticket booth, where guests could purchase their admission to the ride. Until all-inclusive ticket passports were introduced in 1982, guests would purchase tickets to be admitted into individual attractions. When it opened in 1956, Storybook Land Canal Boats was one of the first “D ticket” attractions at the park. Which Boat Will you Get? The boats you tour this world upon are inspired by the charming barges that once traversed the waterways of northern Europe. Each one varies in color scheme and has a unique, hand-painted design. Before you board, look to see which character from a Disney Animation film your vessel is named after. Look up for This Easter Egg You’ll sail into the miniature world of Storybook Land through the open jaws of Monstro, the whale from Disney Animation’s Pinocchio. As your canal boat passes through, look up and you’ll see a line of black “soot” at the roof of his mouth from where Pinocchio lit a fire to cause the whale to sneeze him and Geppetto out to safety. Doorway Details The dwellings throughout the ride are outfitted with doors that actually open and close. More than just a fun design element, this helps cast members maintain the attraction and even replace tiny lightbulbs. Very Merry Mini Décor If you’re sailing during the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, you may notice wintertime decorations adorning the villages and landscaping, from wreaths the size of a coin to frosted snow. As people who literally review food for a living, we’ve seen a lot of food and beverage trends come and go. Disney Springs In Disney World, we’ve lived through the over-the-top cookie era, the blue curacao craze, and, of course, now we seem to see ube everywhere we turn. But one trend we’re seeing in Disney Springs that we do not mind at all? The adorable drink animals! Perhaps the restaurant that has jumped on this trend the hardest is eet by Maneet Chauhan. This spot tucked in the back of the Marketplace section of Disney Springs, has already introduced several iterations of the “cute little animal with your drink” trend. Dragon’s Breath The Dragon’s Breath beverage came topped with an itty bitty (stinkin’ adorable) dragon, and you could choose from a few different colors for your toy. During the Flavors of Florida event in the summer, the restaurant also had the Hank’s Gulf Coast Sunset drink, and for that one, you could pick an animal from a bucket of a variety of options. Hank’s Gulf Coast Sunset We fell in love with the octopus in the top hat, naturally. I mean, who wouldn’t love this guy? He’s got a mustache! Look at all of them! But eet isn’t the only restaurant going nuts with the cute little drink toys. The Polite Pig has done this trend a couple of times with small pigs (no surprise there on the animal choice). One version was the Pigsty, a frozen cappuccino blend with rich chocolate and a splash of spiced rum. Another time, they offered the Pig Lagoon, which was a blend of lemon, lime, coconut cream, and blue Curacao syrup, with or without rum. Pigsty Of course, the originator of this trend has to be the Duck Duck Razz cocktail at The Boathouse, which has been around for YEARS. (In fact, it’s gone viral in the past due to its cuteness.) It’s made with Skyy Raspberry Vodka, Blue Curacao, lemon juice, and simple syrup…and it’s topped with a rubber duck! The famous Duck Duck Razz! But if you really want to level up your Duck Duck Razz experience with a special souvenir, you can now get the FROZEN Duck Duck Razz — that’s served in a souvenir cup! For $22, this specialty beverage comes in a cup complete with a rubber duck in an Amphicar. This might be the best souvenir cup we’ve ever seen, you guys. We LOVE this cup! Lightning Lanes are one of the best ways to save time by skipping the lines at your favorite rides at Disney World. While you have to pay for the passes, time is money in Disney World, and you can get even more bang for your buck on your vacation. Kali River Rapids We love using Lightning Lanes, but there’s one park we’ve always struggled to see the need for the extra upcharge. While we love visiting Animal Kingdom, there aren’t very many attractions with Lightning Lane options. If you’ve been debating whether you should get Lightning Lanes on your Animal Kingdom day, this might persuade you to save some money. In Animal Kingdom, there are usually 8 attractions that you can skip the line on with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. The attractions include: DINOSAUR Expedition Everest Feathered Friends in Flight! Festival of the Lion King Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! Kali River Rapids Kilimanjaro Safaris Na’vi River Journey Expedition Everest EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LIGHTNING LANE MULTI PASS If you want to skip the line on Avatar Flight of Passage, you’ll need to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass, which lets you skip the line at a single attraction. You can skip this line at Flight of Passage Right now, one of the eight attractions you can get a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for is closed! Ah! Kali River Rapids closed on October 6th for its yearly refurbishment and is expected to reopen in December. Kali River Rapids Lightning Lane sign in Disney’s Animal Kingdom The price of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Animal Kingdom ranges from $17 to $22, with a few days jumping higher. Even though the number of attractions is increasing to seven, the price is not decreasing. Prices are determined by demand, so on days Disney expects to be busier, prices will be higher, while on quieter days, prices may be lower. Kali River Rapids On October 4th, when all eight attractions were open, the price was $22. Later in the month, on October 19th, the price was $25 for only seven attractions. We’ve found that with some attractions, there isn’t really a need to skip the line either. Shows like Feathered Friends in Flight! and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! have large seating areas, and we rarely have to wait for the next showing once we hop in line. Lightning Lane Entry While there’s plenty of animals and trails to walk in Animal Kingdom, as well as some experiences like Rafiki’s Planet Watch, where you can take animation classes that you won’t see listed as an attraction, most days you won’t have a problem riding the seven attractions, plus Flight of Passage. You might not even want to enjoy all seven attractions, especially all the shows. Your Animal Kingdom day might be a great opportunity to take the parks more slowly and enjoy more relaxation time. DINOSAUR We would probably skip on the Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Animal Kingdom right now and put that money towards the Lightning Lane Single Pass for Flight of Passage or for the Multi Pass at other parks. For more than 43 years, millions of guests from all over the world have been invited to stop and enjoy the warm melodies of traditional folk music from Jalisco, Mexico, right here at the Mexico pavilion in the World Showcase at EPCOT. The world-famous Mariachi Cobre group has been delighting guests at EPCOT with their beautiful music filled with stories of life and love since opening day on October 1, 1982. This year, we are thrilled to welcome Esteban Carrillo, co-founder and director of the group, to join another special group of cast members who’ve received the prestigious Walt Disney Legacy Award. This unique peer-nominated award is reserved for cast members who exemplify Walt’s timeless values of Dream, Create and Inspire. Over the last four decades, Esteban has been a treasured part of the World Showcase, touching the lives of guests and cast alike. Known for his ever-present smile, his peers say, “If anyone doesn’t have one, Esteban will make sure they do by the end of the day.” Creating Happiness Since 1968 Esteban has been creating happiness at Disney even before EPCOT was opened and fondly recalls his first performances at Disneyland, starting in 1968, as part of a youth mariachi group. During the days of these early performances, he had the great fortune of flying in Walt Disney’s personal plane, which felt like a dream. Inspiring the Next Generation With over five decades of incredible experiences sharing mariachi music and Mexican American culture with the world, Esteban has had a huge impact on the mariachi community. Some of his fellow band members who nominated him for the Legacy Award were inspired by him at a young age. Rene Aguirre Garcia, a Mariachi Cobre member who hails from the same hometown of Tucson, Arizona, as Esteban, recalls growing up with posters of him and his brother/co-founder of the group, Randy Carrillo, hung up on his walls. “As a kid, he was the director of many of the workshops I would go to and he was definitely one of my idols,” says Rene. “I always looked up to him and aspired to be part of the group one day. I never thought I’d be playing alongside him, but the last few years have been a dream come true.” Esteban’s career is filled with many magical milestone moments. A Forever Legacy Esteban shared how proud he is to join this select group of recipients of the Legacy Award at Walt Disney World, including his brother, Randy, co-founder of Mariachi Cobre who recently retired, but remains one of his biggest inspirations. But that’s not the only honor Esteban has received during his impressive career. In 2022, he served as inspiration for one of the five Mariachi Forever stamps released by the United States Postal Service honoring the cultural importance of mariachi around the world. Throughout his remarkable career, Esteban remains humble, admitting he’s still surprised when he receives letters and cards from family or friends accompanied by a stamp with his photo. “It’s quite an honor. I’m very proud they’re putting mariachi out there to a bigger demographic to promote our music and our culture,” he says. From his signature smile to his cheerful confidence, he makes sure Walt Disney World feels like home to all our visitors. When asked one of the reasons why he nominated Esteban, Rene says, “He goes above and beyond for all of our guests here at EPCOT and I believe he embodies exactly what Walt Disney wanted a cast member to be like.” Whether sharing a special song for a magical moment with a guest or mentoring newer members of the band, Esteban’s known for dedicating his time to creating happiness and joy. While excited to wear his new blue Legacy nametag, he recognizes and credits his success to the entire Mariachi Cobre group. He says he shares this with them because without them, he wouldn’t be the musician or person he is today. Congratulations, Esteban, and thank you, Mariachi Cobre, for sharing your beloved culture, traditions, and música with the world! There are multiple ways to make your way around Walt Disney World, which can all make your trip feel a little more magical. Skyliner If you stay on property at one of Disney World’s hotels, you’ll get complimentary access to the resort’s bus transportation, which can usually take you to all four theme parks, as well as Disney Springs and the water parks, Blizzard Beach and/or Typhoon Lagoon (depending on if only one, or both, are open). However, some hotels have additional transportation offerings that coincide, or replace, certain bus transportation, such the Friendship Boats, or access to the Monorail. At four different Disney World resorts, you can use the Disney Skyliner to get to EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but there are TWO upcoming closures you need to know about! Normally, the Skyliner operates one hour before Early Theme Park Entry begins at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios (whichever is earlier), and then closes 90 minutes after EPCOT or Hollywood Studios closes for the day. When Extended Evening Hours take place in either park, the Skyliner will close one hour after they close. Extended Evening Hours are only for Disney World hotel guests staying at a Deluxe Resort (or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts), but the Skyliner won’t close early for the other hotel destinations, so you can continue to use the Skyliner to get to other locations even if you don’t have Extended Evening Hour access. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner If you’re traveling to the resort from January 25th, 2026, through January 31st, 2026, OR January 24th, 2027, through January 30th, 2027, the Skyliner will be closed for regular maintenance and refurbishment. Complimentary bus transportation will be available instead, but if you’re staying at a Disney Skyliner resort specifically to have access to this feature, you’ll want to be aware that it won’t be available during this time. The hotels with Skyliner access are: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Disney’s Pop Century Resort Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Disney’s Riviera Resort We’re not saying you SHOULDN’T book the Skyliner hotels during these time frames, because some people want to stay at these hotels for other reasons (theming, other amenities, etc.), but if the Skyliner is a big deal for you, we do recommend looking into other hotels to avoid disappointment. Disney’s Riviera Resort This refurbishment isn’t unusual — in fact, the Skyliner typically closes once at the beginning of each year to ensure everything is still working properly and safely, but it’s not often we get the next two years of closures at one time! This helps many families plan well in advance for their upcoming trips. Disney Skyliner at Hollywood Studios We personally love to use the Skyliner for transportation, but anyone who’s afraid of heights may find the experience pretty scary since you’re quite high up in the air. If you’re heading into EPCOT or Hollywood Studios for Early Entry (which is available to ALL Disney World hotel guests each day of their trip at all four parks), don’t be alarmed when you see the Skyliner line pretty backed up! The same goes for at the end of the park day, as many guests prefer this mode of transportation over the buses. Fortunately, we’ve learned that the lines move relatively quickly, so even if it looks like it’ll take a lifetime, you won’t be standing there forever. However, it’s another reason why we say to allow for an hour of travel time inside the Disney bubble no matter where you’re trying to get to — it’ll make sure you have plenty of time and feel less rushed. We’re seeing tons of changes around Disney World right now, and it doesn’t just stop in the parks. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Quite a few Disney World hotels are undergoing refurbishments in their lobbies and beyond, and the BoardWalk is about to see some change as well. Promenade Fine Art Gallery is set to close after several years on the BoardWalk — here’s what you need to know. We previously confirmed with store employees that Promenade Fine Art Gallery will be closing at Disney’s BoardWalk on October 19th and will be moving to a new location. The final day to shop at this location will be October 19th. Promenade Fine Art Gallery When we asked where the new location would be, we were told they couldn’t “confirm or deny” just yet. We asked if it was somewhere on Disney World property, but they weren’t able to share that with us either at the time. No official opening date has been shared for the new location yet, but keep an eye out for an official announcement from Promenade Fine Art Gallery about where and when you’ll be able to find Disney fine art. Promenade In addition to the location at the BoardWalk, Promenade also has an open display located at Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and another full gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida. Promenade We’ll be on the lookout for additional changes and updates from Disney World’s BoardWalk and beyond. But lately, the conversation has started to shift. Some fans are softening their harsh reviews and finding reasons to give old favorites another chance, while others are doubling down that things just aren’t what they used to be. Here are four places and experiences Disney adults are rethinking — for better or for worse. ‘Ohana ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of those restaurants that has lived through both the highest highs and the lowest lows in the eyes of fans. For a long stretch, the reviews were not exactly glowing. Guests complained about inconsistent food quality, rushed service, and a vibe that didn’t match the price tag. Some even argued that the noodles — a fan-favorite staple — weren’t enough to justify the dining experience anymore. ‘Ohana noodles A big part of the debate centers on how much the quality has slipped compared to its earlier years. One Redditor put it bluntly: “It’s bad compared to 2012.” Another longtime fan added, “Even that wasn’t as good as 2006 or earlier after they removed the shrimp… Without the skewers, the taste and quality will never be as good as it was.” For guests who have been coming since the ‘90s, the shift from fresh skewers to food served in heated bowls still stings. Peel-and-eat shrimp at Ohana Despite the criticism, the restaurant still has a loyal following. Many agree that if you time your dinner with the fireworks, it’s hard to beat the atmosphere, even if the food doesn’t feel like it did fifteen years ago. For Disney adults, the nostalgia factor and the Polynesian’s unique setting are enough to keep ‘Ohana in the rotation — even if the debate over quality never really goes away. 4 Things I Wish I Knew Before Paying $65 for Dinner at ‘Ohana in Disney World Tony’s Town Square Restaurant Tony’s Town Square in Magic Kingdom has been on the receiving end of some brutal feedback over the years. For a long time, it was practically a punchline — “don’t waste your money at Tony’s” became a common refrain. Fans often described the food as bland, overpriced, or forgettable, which is a tough label for any restaurant to shake off. Tony’s Town Square But lately, there’s been a noticeable shift. Part of that is thanks to the menu getting some much-needed updates, and part of it is because certain items have become standouts in their own right. For example, we’ve talked about two particular dishes: Tony’s Garlic Bread For The Table and the Fried Mozzarella. Tony’s Garlic Bread For The Table! We’re not exaggerating when we say these will change how you think about garlic bread and mozzarella sticks forever. The garlic bread comes with a Parmesan Fonduta that’s downright heavenly, and the giant mozzarella sticks are the kind of indulgent, melty, crispy snack we’d come back for again and again. Honestly, we’d come to this restaurant for these two dishes alone. YUMMM That said, not everyone is convinced Tony’s has fully turned the corner. Some Disney adults still say it’s not worth using one of your rare table-service meals in Magic Kingdom when you could grab a better bite elsewhere. The Lady and the Tramp theming and prime location at the front of the park definitely add to its charm, but critics argue that the entrées can still feel inconsistent. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. If you’re after the absolute best food in Magic Kingdom, Tony’s isn’t it. But if you’re looking for a cozy atmosphere, a spot that’s easier to book than other table-service restaurants, and a chance to devour some of the best garlic bread and mozz sticks on property, then Tony’s might surprise you — and it’s certainly surprising a lot of Disney adults who used to dismiss it completely. I Never Thought I’d Recommend This Disney World Restaurant, But Here We Are California Grill California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort used to be a crown jewel on many fans’ dining lists. The sweeping views of Magic Kingdom fireworks paired with an elevated menu made it a bucket list-worthy experience. California Grill But when the restaurant rolled out a prix fixe menu a while back that was tied to Disney World’s 50th anniversary, the tone of reviews changed quickly. Many fans complained that the cost felt too high for a menu that limited choices and didn’t live up to past standards. California Grill menu Since the anniversary ended, Disney has introduced new menu updates, and the shift is clear — but the price point is still a sticking spot. Some guests love the dishes and service but continue to question whether it justifies the cost. Disney’s resorts are rarely static, but the scale of updates currently underway means your next stay could feel very different — for better or worse. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort From lobby overhauls to full-room refurbishments, here’s what’s happening (or coming) at five Disney hotels. If your go-to resort is on this list, these changes may meaningfully affect your vibe, your photo ops, or even your reservation planning. Disney’s Pop Century Resort Pop Century is getting a retro-inspired lobby refresh, with updates rolling out gradually while the space remains open to guests. We’ve already seen a new mural featuring some of our favorite characters! There are also room refurbishments underway, with the work expected to stretch into mid-February 2026. For now, expect potential noise or visible construction in parts of the resort, and be prepared for some rooms to feel brand-new, even if others are still in transition. Pop Century Resort — Lobby Refurbishment in Progress Disney’s Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort One of the more ambitious overhauls is Bay Lake Tower’s refurbishment. With guest rooms getting a major rehaul, we recently got to experience these new rooms! So far, the renovated rooms are turning heads. Highlights include Murphy-style pull-down beds replacing traditional sofa sleepers, fresh Mary Blair–inspired artwork, stylized color palettes, and updated kitchens with frosted-glass cabinet details. View the Full Tour of the New Rooms Here Bay Lake Tower Public notices also warn guests to allow extra travel time during this period, as alternate paths or access adjustments may be needed. From January to May of 2026, the Bay Cove Pool, the Cove Bar, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily be closed for maintenance. Cover Bar Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Port Orleans — Riverside upgrades are entering their stage now: Magnolia Bend buildings at Riverside are scheduled for full guest room refurbishments from May 2025 through February 2026. Disney notes that noise and visible work may be noticeable during stays in that section. Construction from June 2025 These renovations follow the earlier French Quarter refurbishments in 2024, with an updated style with refreshed bathrooms, color palettes, and decorative touches. If you’re planning to stay in Riverside around then, it’s worth asking at booking whether your building is under construction or arranging to stay in Alligator Bayou side, if available. Port Orleans — French Quarter Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge From mid-May 2025 to September 2025, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Wilderness Lodge will undergo guest room refurbishments. While we have not seen exactly what these refurbishments entailed, we are excited to see what is new! Copper Creek 1-bedroom villa Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Arguably the most iconic of the bunch, Disney’s Grand Floridian is getting serious attention in the lobby. The lobby is being reworked with new finishes, rearranged seating, and even a new birdcage-inspired lobby bar in the works. On our recent trip over to the lobby, we got to see them making progress on the bar. We have to say, it is stunning! It is so pretty! What This Means for You: Ask before you book — when making your reservation, it’s worth checking with Disney or your travel planner whether your specific building or floor is under refurbishment. Expect some trade-offs — noise, temporary closures of walkways, or limited access in some public areas are normal during major hotel overhauls. Better rooms might be waiting — if you’re flexible, staying after the projects are complete may grant you cleaner, fresher rooms with upgraded features at the same price. There are several different itineraries available for Europe, where you can stop and see some of the most stunning cities and countryscapes on planet earth. ©Disney But while you’re on board the ship, you’ll live like you would on any other cruise! You’ll stay in a stateroom, enjoy onboard activities, and dine on the boat. And if you’re wondering what you should pack for such an experience? We’re here to tell you that we went a little overboard. ©Disney We mostly packed dresses for our dinners on the ship, and let me tell you — we were overdressed! Meals were a surprisingly casual affair on this trip, even though it’s a pricier itinerary than most Disney Cruise Line vacations. No need to stock up on formal wear, this is more of a come-as-you-are situation. ©Disney So if you’re interested in a relaxing, laid-back European sailing on a smaller but more detailed scale than what Disney Cruise Line allows for, try a National Geographic Expeditions Cruise.
