  1. Heading to Disney World this month and don’t want to spend all your time waiting in ride lines? We totally get it — that’s where Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass systems come in! Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances This is essentially Disney’s paid skip-the-line service, and while they’re completely optional to use in the park, many guests choose to purchase them as add-ons to their day if they find that avoiding waiting in long lines makes their day more enjoyable. If you’re thinking of purchasing this service for your trip coming up, we’ve now got FULL pricing for the month of October! You can purchase Lightning Lane ahead of your trip (which is recommended since hotel guests can book their first three reservations for Multi Pass and two Single Pass reservations seven days in advance, and all other guests can book three days in advance), and seeing this pricing in advance can also help you budget. 2. Things are a little chaotic in Disney’s Animal Kingdom right now. There’s a lot of construction going on, thanks to a new land, Pueblo Esperanza, that will be replacing DinoLand, U.S.A. Right now, only one ride has remained open in Dinoland, Dinosaur, although it will eventually close as construction progresses. Kali River Rapids Well, another ride will be closing for months in that park, too. Kali River Rapids will be closing for a refurbishment on October 6th. So if you have plans to ride it, you’ll need to get to Animal Kingdom ASAP. That’s right, Kali River Rapids will close on October 6th and isn’t scheduled to reopen until sometime in December. Don’t worry, though…this is just a normal closure for a ride refurbishment or maintenance, so the ride will probably be the same when it reopens. This is the only water ride in Animal Kingdom, though, so if you were hoping to get soaked like you do on Kali River Rapids (and why would you, though?), you’re out of luck. Kali River Rapids will close soon However, this is a good opportunity to take advantage of some of the more underrated things to do in Animal Kingdom. Did you know you could pet some animals at Conservation Station? Take the Wildlife Express train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and you can do that and so much more. You can even watch Disney’s veterinarians working with some of the wildlife that calls Animal Kingdom home. PLUS you can learn to draw Disney characters from a real animator. You can pet Walt and Gus here! Don’t forget about all the trails throughout Animal Kingdom, too. You can see gorillas, a ton of birds, tigers, monkeys, and so much more. It might seem like there’s a lot less to do in Animal Kingdom right now, but there’s really plenty to fill a day — and it’s probably stuff you haven’t done before. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 3. One of the most exciting things about the beginning of the month is that it means we see new snacks in Disney World. ©Disney Y’all KNOW we’re all about new snacks. Y’all also know that we’re all about Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs, so we look forward to seeing what cookie and cake concoctions Gideon’s is baking up for the month. Well, October is officially here, and Gideon’s has revealed its October line-up…and it includes cookies with Double Stuff Oreos in them. WHAT? Okay, so Gideon’s October line-up includes the Frankenstein Lives! cookie, which includes a variety of chocolates, Double Stuff Oreos, and M&Ms. It also includes the Bride of Frankenstein Returns! which is a lot like the original Frankenstein cookie but with White Chocolate, Golden Oreos, and M&Ms. Needless to say, these are two MONSTER cookies (see what we did there?). ©Gideon’s Let’s talk cake. You can also get the Frankenstein Cake Slices which have three layers of Chocolate Cake, a “ridiculous amount” of cookies and cream buttercream, and M&Ms with a dripping chocolate ganache on top. These are available every Wednesday and Saturday of October. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse There’s also the Bride of Frankenstein Cake Slices, which are similar except these have Vanilla and Chocolate Cake with Golden Oreo Buttercream. You can grab these slices every Sunday and Thursday. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse The Dark Mocha Cold Brew will also be available EXCLUSIVELY at the Disney Springs location. Check out that sweet black cat wrap around that cup. SPOOKY. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse Gideon’s is also promising NEW never-before-seen desserts every weekend. You’ll have to follow the bakery on social media to find out what’s coming up next, but we can give you a preview of the first weekend of October. It’s Valentina’s Whoopie Pies made with two black cocoa-dusted Red Velvet “Cookie Cakes” with a Marshmallow Cookies and Cream Buttercream between them. YUM. This treat will only be available THIS weekend, October 4th and 5th. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse So if your sweet tooth is itching to try something new, get on over to Gideon’s Bakehouse NOW. Personally, I can also highly recommend the Peanut Butter Cold Brew, too. SO DELISH. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 4. Epic Universe visitors loomed at the theme park Saturday afternoon in anticipation of the Stardust Racers roller coaster reopening. It would be the first day the thrill ride has been available to the public since a man died Sept. 17 after riding it. Universal Orlando Resort announced the move Friday afternoon, saying it had worked with local and state officials to observe testing of the attraction. The ride system’s manufacturer and a coaster engineering expert did their own examinations that validated Universal’s findings, the company said. On Saturday morning, both sides of the dueling coaster were put through their paces — sometimes empty, sometimes with Universal employees on board. Epic workers told passers-by that it was hoped the ride would be available by late afternoon or early evening. Jared Ream, a coaster enthusiast with the tattoos to prove it, waited out the coaster on the patio of nearby Meteor Astropub restaurant inside Epic. Ream, who lives in Dayton, Ohio, said Saturday was the last available day of his vacation to try to get aboard it. “I would say that right now is probably the safest time to ever ride this ride because you’ve got everybody’s eyes and attention on it,” Ream said. “So you got everybody inspecting it, saying it’s fine to open.” Universal was not allowing people to queue up for the ride Saturday until it sent out a notification via its app. Periodic rainstorms — the kind that halt the ride under normal circumstances — added a question mark to the wait. Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, died after being found unconscious on Stardust Racers, a thrill ride that moves at 62 mph, goes through multiple launches and includes an inversion. The Orange County medical examiner ruled his death accidental and the result of “multiple blunt impact injuries.” Attorney Ben Crump, who represents Zavala’s family, said Friday it was too soon to resume operation of the roller coaster. “Stardust Racers is evidence in an active death investigation,” Crump said in a news release. “Reopening the ride before our experts can examine every component is unadulterated spoliation of evidence, a grave risk to public safety, and puts profit over people’s lives.” Ream, who said he lost 140 pounds in order to ride the coaster, disagreed. “I would say the only reason they kept it closed for so long was out of respect for the family and the investigations,” he said. “They could have opened it earlier, but they didn’t.” The ride debuted May 22 along with Epic Universe, the first theme park to open in Orlando in more than 25 years. Universal officials said detailed information about ridership and safety guidelines is at the front of each attraction, in queues and on its app. “Safety, as always, is our top priority,” Universal Orlando Resort President Karen Irwin said in a memo to employees. Lisa Lohmueller, who lives in Pittsburgh and was visiting Epic Universe for the first time with her husband Josh, said she was surprised the ride was reopening. “That, I’m guessing, is a testament to the amount of information that they have around everything that they’re able to make that call,” she said. Lohmueller, who said she was heartbroken for the Zavala family, noted the intensity of the ride — and the possibility of a long wait — were more off-putting than safety issues. “It seems like an awesome-looking ride,” she said. “And honestly, if you’re, like, which one of the rides would be associated with the fatality, I would not have guessed this one.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. 7. Stardust Racers in Epic Universe is set to reopen after its closure for a death investigation. The attraction is supposed to reopen for the first time today, October 4th, but as of 11:15 AM, it remains closed. Stardust Racers However, a change has now been made in the verbiage for the attraction’s safety measures, found in the Guide for Safety and Accessibility for the park that is important to note if you’re visiting soon. Let’s break down what those changes are and how they may affect your upcoming vacation. The Guide for Safety and Accessibility states a few rules and regulations you need to know about if you’re someone with a physical disability or use a mobility device for any reason. Stated on page 7, the guide states that, “For most rides and attractions, you must be able to independently maintain an upright position, and brace and support your torso, neck, and head while absorbing sudden and dramatic movements throughout the experience.” Stardust Racers Additionally, you’ll want to pay close attention to the signage photos for each attraction, as one sign has now changed for a few attractions in the park. Below is a list of the Attraction Symbol Descriptions that affect those transferring from mobility devices. ©Universal The one most important, in this current instance, to note, is that “Guests using mobility devices must be able to walk independently” which is the SAME symbol as “Guests using mobility devices must transfer to the ride vehicle’s seating.” This essentially means that on attractions with both symbols, BOTH of these statements must be true for the guest to ride. ©Universal Universal has also updated the guide to list that Dragon Racer’s Rally, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, and Stardust Racers are all the attractions that a guest must be able to transfer out of their mobility device and walk independently to the ride vehicle. ©Universal It’s also important to note that the wording for each of those three attractions also lists that, “You must be able to independently: (1) maintain an upright position, (2) support your torso, neck, and head while absorbing sudden and dramatic movements, and (3) brace your body with at least one natural upper extremity.” Dragon Racer’s Rally This safety guide is readily available online for guests to peruse for free, and if you’re confused in the park, you can also politely ask a nearby Team Member. 9. Disney World guests aren’t maximizing the best ways of saving cash on airfare, and we’re putting an end to that! Ready to fly? There’s no sugarcoating it — Disney World vacations are EXPENSIVE. The cost of hotel stays, park tickets, souvenirs, and food all add up, and that’s before even factoring in airfare. Fortunately, Google Flights has suggested a travel hack to keep costs down and good times up. Additionally, checking into a hotel on midweek can yield lower rates. Let’s fly! The report noted that there are some caveats. Holidays like Thanksgiving can see rises in midweek prices, and if you’re locked into certain dates, you can’t just move around flight dates. If you have time to plan, it’s important to know that airfare generally peaks in mid-summer and drops around early fall. Alas, for a lot of Disney World vacationers, they can only visit during peak times due to job limitations and school vacation schedules. DON’T WORRY — there are still other ways to save. MCO Airport Security Google Flights indicated that booking itineraries with layovers — while annoying — can save travelers about 22% on fares on average when compared to flying nonstop. It’s also recommended to book ahead and not wait until the last minute. Google Flights reports that the lowest prices for domestic flights are usually 39 days before departure, while 49 days before is the ideal booking window for international flights. Of course, those numbers can be skewed based on the destination. 10. Happily Ever After may be one of the most ICONIC nighttime shows in all of Disney World. This fireworks show is popular — and for good reason. ©Disney However, because of its popularity, it can be hard to snag a good spot to view the fireworks. Disney World has thought of that, though…if you want a guaranteed great fireworks viewing spot, you can book a special dessert party (with all-you-can eat desserts and other snacks and drinks). Well, that dessert party just got even better because NEW treats will be added soon. Disney just announced that new treats themed to Magic Kingdom’s lands will be coming to the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party on October 8th. These treats include the Star Command Mousse Cup representing Tomorrowland with chocolate cookie crumbs, white chocolate mousse, green apple gelée, whipped cream, red crispy pearls, and a Star Command chocolate piece. ©Disney Representing Fantasyland, you’ve got the Under the Sea Cupcake made with vanilla cake soaked in tres leches with coconut and topped with whipped cream, red sprinkles, and sugar shells. For Adventureland, you’ve got the DOLE Whip Pineapple Mousse Cup with pineapple gelée and panna cotta with flavors of DOLE Whip Pineapple. Frontierland is represented by the Country Bear Cheesecake, which is a chocolate tart filled with whipped cheesecake, apple pie filling, cinnamon streusel, whipped cream, and a chocolate piece. Also new is the Mickey-shaped Fruit Tart, made with pastry cream topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, and gold leaf in a Mickey-shaped tart shell ©Disney Also representing Frontierland is the Bayou Peach Cobbler made with cinnamon panna cotta, peach cobbler, cinnamon streusel, and a chocolate piece. ©Disney If you’re interested in a fireworks dessert party, you have several choices: there are options for parties before and after the fireworks, plus two different views (and in my opinion, the best view is the cheaper option, which is the Plaza Garden viewing. Tickets range from $119 to $129 for adults and $75 for children ages three through nine. You can book a reservation for the dessert party of your choice on the Disney World website or My Disney Experience app. Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from Happily Ever After Dessert Party Stay tuned to DFB for more. 12. Major changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with the construction of Monsters, Inc. land, the transition of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster to a Muppet theme, and the transformation of Star Wars Launch Bay into a new version of the Magic of Disney Animation, all changing the face of the park forever. ©Disney In my 7+ years writing about Disney’s theme parks, I’ve learned to look at change from all angles, large and small. Which in turn led me to realize that beyond the major changes coming to the park, the closure of Star Wars Launch Bay is going to affect a certain subset of guests: Disney Visa Cardmembers. For years now, the Launch Bay has been home to one of the most popular in-park perks available to Disney Visa holders: Exclusive meet & greets with Star Wars characters. In recent years, this meet & greet has been with Darth Vader, and included a free download of the guest’s photo. Darth Vader…need we say more? With Star Wars Launch Bay having closed on September 25th, a new Star Wars photo opportunity has been introduced for Disney Visa Cardmembers. Located at the Cardmember location between Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, this new offering (available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily) allows Cardmembers to have a photo taken that will be “digitally enhanced with a Holocron Darth Vader projection to remember your visit to a galaxy far, far away!” In other words, the meet & greet element has been removed, at least for now. ©Disney Disney Visa Cardmembers visiting Hollywood Studios are still eligible for an exclusive meet & greet with Frozen’s Olaf. This perk is offered from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM daily at Celebrity Spotlight in the park’s Echo Lake area. ©Disney It remains to be seen if the new Vader Holocron photo opportunity is permanent or will be replaced by a different Cardmember experience once construction at the park is completed. Of course, there are still many other perks and benefits available to Disney Visa Cardmembers, including: Special financing options for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and other U.S. Disney Destination vacations. Special shopping savings at DisneyStore.com and at select locations at U.S. Disney Parks. The ability to earn points for signing up for the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle. 13. We’ve got some bad merchandise news coming out of Disneyland, and while we hate to tell you this news, it’s important for your vacation budget. Disneyland October is typically the season that we see lots of price increases hit Disney parks in the United States, so we’ve been preparing ourselves for the prices to go up on everything from food, to Lightning Lanes, to merchandise, and beyond. Unfortunately, if you were thinking of grabbing yourself a t-shirt on your Disneyland vacation, it looks like it’ll cost you a few dollars more. Last week when we stopped inside The Emporium, we noticed that the folded t-shirts/the ones displayed on the wall were $25 each when you buy two — like we’ve seen for as long as we can remember. If you only buy one, they’re $29.99. Disney T-Shirt sign from last week However, now that price has increased BIG time. Now, when you buy two, they’re $29.99 each, or $32.99 for one! That’s an overall increase of about $10 if you were to buy two, and a $3 increase for individual shirts. BIG price increase! This is one of the largest price increases we’ve seen recently, and we’re concerned it’ll also make its way to Disney World soon. This is only the start of 2026 price hikes, although we know that the Disney Dining Plan in WDW will also see an increase when the new year begins, and we just saw a price increase for Disney’s streaming services late last month. 15. While Destination D23 — the year’s biggest Disney fan convention — happened in August, Disney saved some big news for September. The sun is setting on Dinoland U.S.A. We love bringing you news about additions and fun Disney World changes. But, alas, the biggest news drop in September had more to do with a beloved Animal Kingdom land saying goodbye forever in 2026. The extinction date has been set: DinoLand U.S.A in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is waving goodbye forever in February 2026.. We’re going to miss this The land is PERMANENTLY closing on February 2nd, 2025, meaning the last day to experience DINOSAUR, The Dino Institute Shop, Dino-Bites Snacks, Restaurantosaurus, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge is February 1st, 2026. Dinosaur We had already seen several closures, including TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures in January 2025. Additionally, the Boneyard and the Dig Site play areas both permanently closed on September 2nd. Now, Disney World is finishing the job. Fossil Fun Games The land will give way to the NEW Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land featuring Indiana Jones and Encanto rides. The Indiana Jones ride will replace DINOSAUR and feature similar mechanics to that ride and the Indiana Jones Adventure ride in Disneyland (albeit with a unique story), and the Encanto section of the land will offer a new attraction and animal-themed carousel. It’s even been teased that we’ll be getting a brand new play area for small kids! New Indiana Jones Ride While we’re sad to see DinoLand go, we’re excited to experience the new Pueblo Esperanza — which is slated to open sometime in 2027. 16. There are so many shoe options available for Disney World. Should you go with ones you use at home? A new pair to break in? How much cushion should it have? With all these options, it can be challenging to determine where to begin. Hokas That’s why we’re here! We visit Disney World every day, so trust us, we know a good pair of shoes when we see one. We have tested dozens of different shoes in the parks and wanted to give you our honest thoughts on the very popular HOKAs. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The first pair is the HOKA Women’s Clifton 10 Sneaker. Hoka Women’s Clifton 10 Sneakers These come in a variety of colors and sizes and cost about $155. Our reporter, a hardcore flip-flop wearer (yep, she usually visits the parks multiple times a week and always wears her trusty flip-flops), said that these might make her a tennis shoe believer. Did we mention they have fun colors? The shoes are very comfortable and have a bit of bounce with each step, which is definitely what you need when walking miles on hard cement. There are numerous heel supports that offer a great fit, even for those with high arches. Even the backs of the shoes didn’t irritate our heels (and that’s a big thing for our flip-flop-loving reporter). Lots of support We think these are essential to your park day and will make your trip so much easier. The only thing we would change? The price! Don’t worry, though; if you keep following Disney Food Blog, we’re always sharing shoe discounts and Amazon sales, so you can snag them at a good price. SHOP ON AMAZON The second pair is the HOKA Women’s Rincon 4 Shoes. HOKA Rincon 4 Women’s Shoes At $160, there are fewer colors available, but multiple neutral options are still available to choose from. We loved how breathable the shoes are. Florida is notoriously humid, especially during the summer, so anytime we can find breathable shoes, we’ll love them. We love the spring of Hoka While that $160 is not cheap, we think it’s worth the price due to the amount of walking you’ll be doing. Sore, blistered feet can ruin your trip and might make you want to skip out on longer lines or rides at the back of the park, so these shoes can keep you smiling all vacation long. Look at that cushion! The shoes are comfy and breathable, and for our reporter who hates the restricted feeling, they didn’t feel it at all. The cushion provides a lot of “give” when you step down, similar to the bounce. We understand why runners like it because we feel like we go further with every step. The only issue we encountered was that the top of the shoe rubbed against our heels, but we highly recommend fully breaking in the shoes with longer socks before your first day at Disney World. That being said, we still loved the shoes — we just need to spend a little bit more time in them. SHOP ON AMAZON Between the two pairs, we do prefer the HOKA Clifton 10s! Both were comfortable, but the Clifton 10s were the most comfortable!! We think both of these pairs are great options for your trip to Disney World. Yes, they’re an investment, but you can wear them back at home on longer days out, and they can fit into your workout shoe rotation. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more. 17. Disney World will be facing a VERY transformative year in 2026, and while we’re looking forward to all the new lands coming, it does mean we’ll see a LOT of construction walls for the next 12+ months. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster While many of these construction projects won’t OPEN until 2027 and beyond, such as Villains Land, Piston Peak, and Monsters, Inc. Land, there ARE projects that will be completed next year, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what they bring to the park. If you’re already planning a trip for 2026, these are the dates you need to grab your tickets and/or park pass reservations for ASAP! Starting in January, you’ll want to secure your reservations for New Year’s Day, January 1st, sooner rather than later. This day is often PACKED, especially in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, so you won’t want to miss your chance. Additionally, the runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend takes place January 7th – 11th, and the parks and hotels are often very crowded during this time as well. Once we get a start date for the start of EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts, you’ll also want to grab your reservation for the opening day if you want to be one of the first to experience it. Peoplemover on New Year’s Day On February 1st, Dinoland U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom will have its final day of operation before the construction for Pueblo Esperanza starts on the WHOLE land. Yes, it’ll be your last day to ride Dinosaur! The runDisney Princess Half Marathon will also take place from February 26th until March 2nd, and those are also dates to watch out for heavier crowds. It’s on its way! In March, we’ll likely see EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival begin, but that date hasn’t been confirmed just yet. Then, in April, you’ll want to book your hotel and tickets while the runDisney Springtime Surprise Race happens from April 16th to 20th. May the 4th is also almost always a big day in the parks, especially Hollywood Studios, but the date you’ll really want to watch out for in May is May 22nd, which is when Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will see those storyline changes we’ve been hearing about for what feels like years now to celebrate the new Mandalorian and Grogu film. Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios While there are plenty of other holidays and EPCOT festival days to plan ahead for in 2026, we won’t go as far as to say you need those tickets right now. However, we do want to warn you that while we don’t have official dates for the following few events, the moment you HEAR the confirmed dates for these, you’ll want to make those reservations and park ticket purchases ASAP! Cinderella Castle fully returns to its original blue and white color scheme (we know this should begin in 2025, but it’s possible it won’t be completed until 2026 — no start or ending times confirmed at this time) Magic Kingdom Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closure to transform into the Muppets version of the coaster (AKA the last day you’ll be able to ride it with Aerosmith! ©Disney Reopening date of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (we know this attraction will have some new scenes and effects to check out, as well as an updated storyline) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Reopening date of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin (new scene, updated ride vehicles and blasters, and targets that interact with your blasters!) ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news so you can plan your upcoming trips well in advance with the least amount of pressure possible, so stay tuned to DFB! 18. It’s finally time! While EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival started back in late August, now it’s time to experience the SECOND Food & Wine event in Disney World. Food and Wine Classic The Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic takes place at the hotel each year, and similar to EPCOT’s festivals, you can find multiple different booths with tons of different food and drink offerings in smaller portions to try. This year’s event takes place on Friday, November 14th, and Saturday, November 15th, 2025, from 5-9 PM, and we just got to try a TON of the options at this year’s event to tell you what should be at the top of your list! There are multiple themed areas around the Causeway this year: The Beer Garden, For the Love of Florida, Carnival Corner, The Bubbles Lounge, and Chinatown. At this event, you’ll get to walk around to different booths representing various restaurants around Disney World and see what they have to offer! The 2024 Food and Wine Classic! This means you’ll get to try items from restaurants like Cabana Bar & Beach Club, The Fountain, Il Mulino New York Trattoria, Amare, and so many more. We’re always grateful these portion sizes are small, because there are SO many great options to try. Chocolate Blackberry Choux Puff from 2024 One thing we learned is that this year’s event will be a little different. First, the event is moving forward a half hour, so it can end a little earlier this year and leave time for visitors to hit some restaurants (if they’re still hungry!). The causeway will also be transformed with a whopping 150 vendors. This year’s menu has been extensively overhauled, so expect to see a lot of new items. Plus, the Bubbles Lounge is returning. 2024 Food and Wine Classic At this special event, we got to try a few of the most sought-after options that you can grab at this event. We started with the Slow Braised Wagyu Beef Short Rib with Celery Root Espuma and Shallot Marmalade from Bourbon Steak. “Incredible” is how our reporter described this. The beef was so tender that it fell apart like butter when we put a fork through it. It had a rich, deep, and buttery flavor and was salted perfectly. The pairing of the celery root and the shallot marmalade just really brought out those softer and smoother flavors. If you’ll be visiting the Food & Wine Classic, do NOT miss out on this. Slow Braised Wagyu Beef Short Rib The Sabich with Fried Eggplant, Israeli Salad, Pickled Watermelon Radish, Tahini Garlic Sauce, Amba, Micro Parsley, and Mini Pita is from Amare. No, we didn’t misspell “sandwich.” This is a vegan dish with lots of juicy veggies and fresh spices all wrapped up in tasty pita bread. It is a hefty portion, so this one might be shareable, so you don’t fill up before you have a chance to hit up all the food stations. If you’re looking for something more grounded and earthy, this is it. Sabich Next up, we tried the Stir-Fried Rice with Blue Crab, Florida Gulf Shrimp, and Tempura Shiitakes from bluezoo. The rice itself is good fried rice by the usual standards. It’s sweet with a salty soy flavor, and the right amount of salt. The crab is tender and soft, and the shrimp has just the right amount of chew plus a nice sweet and salty flavor. You also get a nice crunch with the mushrooms. There are also green onions that add some brightness. This is another filling portion size, so again, you might want to share. That also makes it a good bang for your buck meal. Stir-Fried Rice The Ricotta Cappelletti with Hand Crafted Pasta, House Made Citrus Ricotta Filling, Slow Cooked Angus Beef Ragu, and Crispy Pancetta Breadcrumbs is from Il Mulino. It is a very savory dish, but the ricotta cheese gives it an additional rich flavor. It’s a fun filled pasta with a lot of great flavors, including that citrus flavor with the ricotta that adds more brightness and sharpness. The breadcrumbs add a nice crispy texture. Ricotta Cappelletti Then we tried the Chirashi Bowl with Cured Salmon, Seasoned Sushi Rice, Shoyu Egg, Wakame, Pickled Radish, Cucumber, Edamame, and Sriracha Aioli from Cabana Bar and Beach Club. Now, this is a more adventurous item, but we did end up liking it. You have to really like the whole sticky rice sushi thing, and we weren’t feeling it with this bowl. There are some nice veggies, and the salmon had a nice flavor. What we really loved, though, was the sriracha aioli on top. Chirashi Bowl The Fried Apalachicola Oyster Sliders with Black pepper and Scallion Coleslaw, and Key Lime “Mignonette” Jam might be a mouthful to say, but you’ll find them in the Love of Florida themed area of the Food & Wine Classic. We were immediately hit with a sour flavor, but then the black pepper and coleslaw kind of come through. The scallion brings some sharpness, as well as a bright crunch. The oyster is chewy, and the bread is light and fluffy. This is one of the more unique items on the list with a lot of interesting flavors, but we think it’s unusual enough that it won’t be a festival favorite for a lot of folks. Fried Apalachicola Oyster Sliders Next up was the Pan-Fried Shrimp and Pork Dumplings with Ginger and Black Vinegar Dipping Sauce, House Made Chili Oil, and Yu Chen’s Crispy Chili Oil from the festival’s Chinatown-themed area. These dumplings are OH SO tender and a bit sticky with the crispy bottom from the frying. The meat inside was salty and almost like a sausage. We didn’t taste much of the ginger and black vinegar in the dipping sauce, but the chili oil flavor was strong. For those who are spice-averse, we’d call it a medium heat, so it’s probably not for you. Pan-Fried Shrimp and Pork Dumplings Okay, let’s look at some sweet treats you’ll be able to get at the Food & Wine Classic. First up, we’ve got the Sweet Corn Ice Cream Cone with Hot Honey Syrup, Crushed Cheddar Cheese, and Caramel Corn. You wouldn’t think hot honey would work on ice cream, but y’all, this was TO DIE FOR. It has just enough of a kick to make it feel elevated. However, it is a little salty (although in our defense, we did pop the cheese in our mouth first, because CHEESE). This is a solid dessert, though. Sweet Corn Ice Cream Cone Then it was time to try desserts from the Swan and Dolphin Pastry Chefs, starting with the Green Tea, Lime, Mango and Mousse Dome. The lime mango inside the dome is nice, and you do get a hint of green tea flavor, but only after you hit the green tea layer on the bottom. It’s light, so we think a lot of people will appreciate it. Plus, it’s pretty. Green Tea Lime Mango Mousse The Cherry with Cherry Mousse, Chocolate Cake, Black Cherry Compote, and a Dark Chocolate Disc, though, blew us away. It’s shaped like a giant cherry (even if it sorta’ looks like an apple). We liked the cherry compote, but we think it needed more of it. The chocolate cake is also good, and the mousse has a nice moussey consistency. The Cherry Finally, we tried the Chocolate Casssis Mousse, which was probably our favorite of the four desserts we tried. It’s a thicker dark chocolate kind of mousse, but it’s also got like some blackcurrant flavor to it, which is where the bite comes from. You’ll want to try to get all the flavors in one bite, because otherwise, the mousse is just too sweet. Chocolate Cassis Mousse Now what’s extra special about this event is instead of paying for each bite to eat or drink you pick up, you pay for the cost of your ticket (which is $205.00 per person ($224.01 with tax and service fees) for either Friday OR Saturday night), you get unlimited access to the food and drink at the event! If you want to attend both days, you can also grab the two-night ticket for $369.00 per person ($403.30 with tax and service fees). Food booth setup Don’t forget to check out the live entertainment around the area as well, and make a list ahead of time of what you may want to grab the most — it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. 19. Stardust Racers is going to reopen after a guest died on the attraction on September 17th, 2025. Stardust Racers According to The Orlando Sentinel, the Epic Universe coaster plans to reopen on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, for the first time since the death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala last month. Changes are coming to the attraction, which will now require wheelchair users to be able to walk independently to the ride, and Team Members will no longer be able to assist them on the attraction. The changes come after Zavala, who was a wheelchair user, was helped into the coaster by Team Members before his passing. The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that the cause of death was due to multiple blunt impact injuries, and the manner of death was ruled an accident. Stardust Racers The family of Zavala is being represented by attorneys who have “angrily blasted Universal” for statements that the family says imply that his disability played a role in his death on the coaster. Team Members received an email sent by Karen Irwin on October 3rd, sharing that they completed an extensive review of the ride with local officials, the state of Florida, the manufacturer of the attraction, and an independent engineering expert. The report stated “the ride systems functioned properly throughout the boarding process, the duration of the ride, and upon the ride vehicle’s return to the station.” Epic Universe The email continued to state that the Team Members followed all the correct procedures before continuing on to say they are updating operational procedures as well as signage around the attractions in the park. Other attractions impacted by the operational procedure changes are Dragon Racers Rally and Monsters Unchained. Guests will now be required to walk independently onto those attractions as well. Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment Stardust Racers is a dual-launch racing coaster that sends guests speeding through the air aboard “comets” in a race to see who’s the fastest. The ride reaches speeds up to 62 mph and heights up to 133 feet along 5,000 feet of track. It’s Epic Universe’s most thrilling coaster experience, “with unique maneuvers such as the ‘Celestial Spin,’ in which the two coaster vehicles perform an inverted crisscross while speeding through the air.” The family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala started a GoFundMe to help with expenses during this difficult time. Our thoughts continue to be with his friends and family. The post NEWS: Epic Universe Roller Coaster To Reopen Following Death Investigation first appeared on the disney food blog. 20. When you think of the BEST restaurants to get your grub on around Disney World, we’re willing to bet there’s one hidden gem you’re leaving out! We’ve dined at them all — the upscale, the casual, and everything in between. But, what truly sets this restaurant apart is some of its most popular dishes that folks rave about for years after dining here — and for good reason! Volcano Roll We recently stopped by Splitsville Luxury Lanes at Disney Springs to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Who says bowling alley food has to be boring? Certainly not Disney World! You’ll find Splitsville’s massive mult-story building located within the West Side area of Disney Springs. It’s right next to a few other popular Disney Springs stops like AMC Theaters, and a few other neighboring restaurants like Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew and Jaleo by Chef Jose Andres. Splitsville While it’s hard to peel your eyes away at first glance, when you step inside, the fun is just beginning. You’re immediately greeted at the front host stand, and when you check in for your reservation, it’s hard not to notice the multiple bowling lanes available on BOTH floors. Yes, it’s a bowling alley While it might “strike” you as a classic bowling alley and borderline pub or bar, there’s also a full dining room available. You’ll have your pick of booths and tables… Plenty of seating …as well as available seating at the bar. Bar seating But contrary to what you might initially think, you don’t have to bowl to dine here… and you don’t have to dine to bowl here! You can choose either activity or both. However, it’s important to make sure of which experiences you’re making a reservation for because both dining and bowling are booked separately. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here might best be described as upscale pub grub. Here you’ll find an extensive menu of drinks… Drinks menu …as well as popular dishes to chow down on like burgers, pizza, sushi, and more! Food Want a little something sweet at the end of your meal? Several desserts are available, too. Desserts And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Loaded Fries for our appetizer, which cost us $16. This is made of crinkle cut fries smothered with queso blanco, bacon, ranch, scallions, and love (that’s what it says…and we LOVE that). On the menu, it’s billed to serve two or more for one plate. This is listed as an appetizer, but y’all, this is a MEAL, possibly for two people or more. The toppings are literally everything we ever want on fries. Although there is a LOT, it doesn’t really feel super heavy. Loaded Fries Word of warning, though. We also ordered a burger (we’ll get to that in a bit), which also came with fries, so we experienced a bit of fry overload. So if you’re ordering an entree, maybe see what sides are available and see if you can’t switch it out if you don’t want even MORE fries. But, yeah, we could feel the love put into these loaded fries. Made with love For our entree, we were feeling extra hungry, so we decided to try out the sushi! We opted for the Volcano Roll, which costs $20. This is made of tempura shrimp rolled with avocado and cream cheese and topped with spicy crab mix, spicy mayo, and sriracha. One thing we love about a roll like this is that it’s accessible even for those who don’t love sushi. This roll is just spot on, although the spicy crab mix in it is NO joke. When you taste it, you get the brininess from the crab, but then you get that kick. Oh, did we mention how pretty this roll is? Volcano roll We didn’t really taste much of the cream cheese, but the spicy mayo and sriracha added additional flavor. If you’re feeling extra brave, it comes with a little dab of wasabi on the side. We were NOT feeling that brave, though…it was a “nope” from us. But this roll is a great one to pick for those who are a little on the fence about sushi. Good sushi! To round out our main meal, we also ordered Buzzy’s Bacon Burger for $23. This dish is a burger topped with melted cheddar, crispy bacon, ketchup, and mayo. It’s also served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle on the burger with fries as your side. This is the closest you’re going to get to that backyard grilled burger at home in a restaurant. It may not be the BEST burger we’ve ever had, but it surprised us. This one is a crowd pleaser. And it’s HUGE. Buzzy’s Bacon Burger Warning, though: you can taste the onion even if you take it off. So if you don’t like onions, be sure to ask for it without onions. The pickles are on the bottom and add a nice flavor. We did hate that the bun seemed to be soggy from all the juices, but the burger itself was cooked really well. We also wished it had more cheese — the layer of cheese was thin. So juicy And we couldn’t leave without dessert, so we decided to wind down our entire experience with the Super Sundae for $9. This is made of heaping scoops of vanilla and chocolate ice cream topped with colorful sprinkles, chocolate and caramel syrup, and whipped cream. Well, this just solidified this restaurant in our minds. We liked that there weren’t a ton of toppings, and the sprinkles were just there for a little sweet crunch. The vanilla is more of that creamy yellow vanilla ice cream that reminds us of childhood, and the chocolate just melts in your mouth because it’s also so creamy. Super Sundae We think maybe we shouldn’t love this as much as we did, but here we are. It’s a basic sundae, but it hit JUST right. Childhood vibes Okay, so let’s talk about drinks. Drinks To drink, we picked up the Rumrunner for $16. This drink combines 151 Rum, blackberry brandy, Crème de Banana, pineapple, and lime. This is a pre-mixed drink, so don’t expect something that’s freshly mixed. It’s sort of like a rum punch. However, it’s pretty good and it’s not super strong. We really didn’t taste the blackberry brandy, though, but the pineapple adds to the drink’s fruity taste. Rumrunner It’s served frozen like a slush, so you’ll want to go ahead and start sipping on it as soon as your server brings it out, or you’ll end up with a melted mess. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want to go bowling. If you’re in the mood for some bowling, this is OBVIOUSLY the spot you want to visit. The great food is just the cherry on top. You’re craving sushi. Who knew you could go to a bowling alley and get good sushi, right? But that’s what you’ll find here. You want backyard barbecue vibes. Everything that we ate, save for maybe the sushi, gave us backyard cookout vibes, right down to the ice cream. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want a more foodie experience. This isn’t fine dining. This is eating in a bowling alley, although the food here is slightly elevated from that. You’re on a budget. This place isn’t super expensive, but if you add on bowling, it could easily add up. You want a quiet place to dine. Things can get a little noisy here, what with the bowling and all. If you’re looking for a quiet lunch or dinner, this isn’t it. Full spread So what did we think about our entire experience at Splitsville? Overall Splitsville Luxury Lanes is a bowling alley that also just happens to be a restaurant. Unlike most bowling alleys we’ve visited, the food here is actually pretty solid — plus the sushi is great, which is not something you’d expect at a bowling alley. The prices are decent (for Disney World), and hey, if you also want to fire up a bowling game with some friends, that’s an option, too. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 21. You guys will not believe what I’m about to tell you…they’re back at it AGAIN. NOT AGAIN! Okay, if you’ve been around here for a while now, you might believe me when I tell you that the Tiny Train Town residents in EPCOT‘s Germany Pavilion are up to their usual antics of crime, tomfoolery, and malarkey. These guys are EXPERTS at nonsense by now, and as their mayor, it’s my job to keep you in the loop with what’s going on. So let’s dive in! To start, as I was visiting some of the villagers on my way into town, I spotted Mr. Jones sitting out on his front stoop. At first glance, I thought he had company, and I was planning to say hello. But on further inspection, it seems Mr. Jones has picked up a new hobby — collecting creepy dolls! The two little girls by the front door? Dolls! The lad in the front yard sitting on a suitcase? Doll! The TERRIFYING baby wearing a toupee? A DOLL. I think we’re going to have to have a town hall meeting about this. It’s going to frighten the local children. Uhhhh…CREEPY In less creepy news, there’s a new hot spot in town for gathering and socializing. Forget the train stations, now it’s all about the gazebos! They seem to be particularly popular among young couples and retired women. Maybe I can spearhead a beautification effort so that these can be used as wedding venues. (As you may know, we have QUITE a few weddings scheduled this fall.) The new town hangout THIS JUST IN! I interrupt your regularly scheduled news report about doll collecting and social gatherings to report that there has been a MURDER in Tiny Train Town. It has been ages since we’ve had this problem, but the mayor’s office will be launching a full-scale investigation. The victim was found outside the old factory shortly after the crime was committed. Three primary suspects were spotted at the scene of the crime…which one do you think is guilty?! OH NO! I approached the town square to see if anyone had witnessed anything suspicious, but they were as clueless as could be. The town was just carrying on with business as usual. Something isn’t right here, you guys, and I’m going to get to the bottom of it! Town Square Stay tuned for more updates from the Tiny Train Town. I’m going to solve this crime! 22. Universal Orlando Resort will reopen its Stardust Racers rollercoaster on Saturday for the first time since the tragic death of rider Kevin Rodriguez Zavala last month, but the coaster will no longer accommodate riders like Zavala in wheelchairs, the Orlando Sentinel has learned. Zavala, of Kissimmee, was helped into the Epic Universe roller coaster on Sept. 17 by Universal employees, according to reports. The Orange County medical examiner ruled his death as accidental and the result of “multiple blunt impact injuries.” Attorneys representing Zavala’s family have angrily blasted Universal for suggesting that Zavala’s disability played a role in his death. Zavala had spinal cord atrophy since birth. According to the corporate release posted on the theme park’s website Friday, Universal has conducted an “extensive review” of the ride with “local officials,” the state of Florida, the ride’s manufacturer and an independent engineering expert to confirm “the ride systems functioned properly throughout the boarding process, the duration of the ride, and upon the ride vehicle’s return to the station.” The release also states that Universal’s “team members” or employees followed the correct procedures. The release also states that Universal is updating its “operational procedures” and signs to alert riders to “physical eligibility requirements” of all its rides. Universal’s Safety and Accessibility Guidelines were updated since Zavata’s death to no longer include Stardust Racers as a ride in which team members will accommodate transferring riders from their wheelchairs to the ride vehicle. The Dragon Racers Rally coaster and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment dark ride were also listed in the latest version of the safety guidelines as requiring those in mobility devices to be able to walk independently. Zavala lost consciousness while riding the Stardust Racers — a fast-paced rollercoaster that reaches speeds of 62 mph and rises up to 133 feet — with his girlfriend. He was found slumped over in his seat, and witnesses said that his head kept banging on the head rest. Employees and later paramedics performed CPR on Zavala. He was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Friday the case remains an open and active death investigation. 23. Calling all lovers of Disney history and lore! Can you believe we are celebrating another milestone over at Walt Disney World?  After starting off in 1975 as the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village with just 37 restaurants and retail locations, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the property’s transformation into Disney Springs. Now, Disney Springs boasts over 150 ways to shop, dine, and play and attracts more visitors per year than even Magic Kingdom. Take a journey through time with me to learn the rich history of Disney Springs and how it evolved into the popular retail, dining and entertainment district it is today. Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village (1975-1977) Opening just four years after Magic Kingdom, Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village was originally created to serve the planned residences on Walt Disney World property. Original offerings included: Arribas Brothers, Bath Parlour, Captain’s Tower, Gourmet Pantry, It’s a Small World After All Shop, and 2Rs – Read’n and Rite’n. Can you guess which of these original offerings has stood the test of time and continues to delight guests to this day? If your answer was Arribas Brothers, known for their fine glass and crystal artistry, you’re right! Fun Fact! Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village is named after the address of the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California: Buena Vista Street. Walt Disney World Village (1977-1989) Within a few short years, Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village underwent its first transformation into Walt Disney World Village, as the complex began to attract all Walt Disney World visitors. The most notable addition to the property during this time was the Empress Lilly, a riverboat offering fine dining named after Walt Disney’s wife, Lillian. Fun Fact! The riverboat currently serves as the iconic seafood restaurant, Paddlefish! Disney Village Marketplace (1989-1997) The next evolution of the property occurred in 1989 when it was renamed to Disney Village Marketplace. As part of this expansion, the property attracted several known brands that will strike a chord of nostalgia with my fellow millennials out there and remain wildly popular today: Rainforest Café and LEGO. This era also brought us the legendary Pleasure Island – an entertainment district with clubs, lounges and comedy venues for adults wanting to experience a taste of nightlife outside of the theme parks. But the most beloved addition that draws shoppers today is World of Disney – although its famous Stitch figurehead didn’t come until much later. This started as a souvenir destination, and continues to grow to broaden its selection and make it even easier (and more fun!) for guests to shop. Fun Fact! World of Disney at Disney Springs is home to the largest collection of Disney merchandise in the world. Downtown Disney (1997-2015) In 1997, Disney Village Marketplace and Pleasure Island were combined and rebranded into Downtown Disney. This was a period of significant growth with the addition of West Side to property, bringing memorable offerings like: La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil, DisneyQuest, AMC Pleasure Island Theaters, and eventually the Aerophile Balloon. These innovative experiences transformed the property from a simple shopping destination to a true retail and entertainment complex that is the foundation of what we know and love today. Disney Springs (2015-Present) The Disney Springs we know today is home to local artists, talented chefs, and the cast members who make happy happen beyond the parks. As Disney legend has it – a cattle rancher discovered the beautiful springs water source in the mid 1800s and chose to settle there. The official town of Disney Springs was established in 1850 as a historic waterfront town inspired by the coastal towns of Coral Gables and St. Augustine with four distinct lakeside neighborhoods: Town Center, The Landing, Marketplace, and West Side. Each neighborhood reflects its function and the fictitious time period when it was developed. This current era of transformation at Disney Springs is the property’s largest expansion to date with 5,000 jobs created in its construction alone. This expansion doubled the number of available venues making way for smaller local businesses and a greater economic impact. In fact, Disney Springs features several Florida-based businesses including Joffrey’s Coffee, Wondermade, The Polite Pig, Basin, and Gideon’s Bakehouse! Every shop and restaurant at Disney Springs has its own history, with elements of its imagined back story seamlessly integrated into the present. For example, according to lore did you know the Morimoto Asia restaurant is in the building that was once the Springs Bottling Company? A dramatic chandelier made out of a former bottle conveyance system can even be found just inside the main doors to the restaurant. Fun Fact! Over at STK Steakhouse you might note that right outside the restaurant entrance are train tracks and part of a train turntable, which would once have been used to turn the trains around as they came and went from Disney Springs. Fast forward to today, Disney Springs is celebrating its 10th anniversary as home to over 150 distinctive brands, world-class restaurants, and unforgettable entertainment spread across 1,210 acres so guests can “shop, dine and play” with the high standard they’ve come to expect from Walt Disney World. I cannot wait to see how Disney Springs continues to grow while incorporating the high standards, legacy and tradition Disney is known for. 24. If there’s any Disney celebrity we think we’d love to meet, it might just be Josh Gad. That’s because he’s sort of living the Disney Adult dream. Say goodbye to these pals in August! No, we’re not talking about him being the voice of Olaf (which is pretty cool, though). No, Josh Gad has had a chance to be a Cast Member on several ICONIC Disney rides, including the Jungle Cruise and Kilimanjaro Safaris. Now, though, Gad is stepping into the ULTIMATE Cast Member role as a Haunted Mansion caretaker…and the results are hysterical. Yes, Disney dressed Josh Gad up in a Haunted Mansion Cast Member outfit and let him not only run free through the Mansion (again, we are SO jealous), but also let him make some funny quips along the way. Seriously, we were laughing watching his whole banter while he walked through one of the most iconic Disney rides EVER. ©Disney But that’s not all because Josh also got to greet guests on the ride and even got to utter some famous Haunted Mansion puns. You can imagine how surprised some folks were when they walked into the stretching room and saw the voice of Olaf (which was mentioned A LOT). You can watch the entire video below and see their reactions. So what’s next for Josh Gad? Will he pop up at “it’s a small world” and make people laugh before that classic boat ride? Will he become a Dapper Dan? Will he send Disneyland visitors to hell on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride? Or maybe he’ll pop up inside Rise of the Resistance as the world’s funniest First Order Officer?
